Guest Reviews
- monroe fox (8/5): - quaint little hotel
- Xiang (8/5): - Nice staff
- Aleksandr (10/5): - Clean and nice . Great breakfast. Close to metro
- Jack (10/5): - Very easy property have everything you need and right next to syntagma square so basically in the centre
- MicheleB (10/5): - The staff was so helpful and nice; our rooms were cleaned daily! Plus their breakfast each morning was amazing! Close to our hop on/hop off bus tour location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Efficient, comfortable and clean. Excellent breakfast buffet and very friendly staff. Despite double glazing there's a little street noise so bring ear plugs. Beware at night during the short walk from the nearby Metro, thieves are active near the stations.
- Haha (8/5): - Good location, friendly reception staff, good breakfast. Room is quite small and no space for sorting luggages.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, literally 25 metres from the subway entrance. Hotel is comfortable and staff are exceptional.
- Paulo (8/5): - Hotel very close to Metro.Staff very good and helpful, specially Leni from breakfast!!!room very clean.
- Ritz (6/5): - The bed and pillow are good, the staff just do the job, did not give yu warm feeling
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The room was nice enough and clean which is about the only good thing I can say. The hotel has no bar and no restaurant, despite it being advertised on Expedia, Tripadvisor and their own website as having both. You couldn't even get a coffee except with breakfast. The shower was like standing under a tap. The breakfast was cold - yes I do mean the sausages, bacon and the eggs. Even when I had breakfast one morning 5 mins after the breakfast room opened, it was cold. The mini-bar only contained two bottles of water. I had a good time in Athens, but the hotel spoiled it a little bit. And there was no soundproofing. Athens has a vibrant nightlife which is worth experiencing, but when you need sleep you don't want to be hearing or woken up by dogs barking, people shouting at each other, or the sound of a vehicle going past at 4 a.m. I definitely would not stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect location if you want to explore by foot! Right next to a metro station but we were able to walk just about everywhere we wanted to go. Bread factory is a 5 minute walk away and was the perfect place to get breakfast every morning. The staff was super helpful in making recommendations for things to do and places to go! So glad we stayed here!
- Bec (8/5): - Good selection for the money. Breakfast was a plus. Mini fridge overheated and didn’t work but overall worth it
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good place to stay with family. Pleasing and helpful reception staff. I felt the hotel is little far from the town though the metro is nearby.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Customer service and cleanliness. Support and assistance to young travellers invaluable.
- Luvy (8/5): - We received great and helpful service. The staff was friendly and was quick to assist us. We recommend staying here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location and easy access to Metro, room was clean. Free parking was close and convenient.
- Bianca (8/5): - The suite was very spacious and light and well set up for our family. The staff were very helpful. Unfortunately the surrounding building and streets were derelict and the environment felt unsafe.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hotel, it was clean, close to the metro and the train station. The lady at the desk knew everything. Thanks Jenny, your awesome. The breakfast was tasty and they had american filtered coffee.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hardly a 4-star hotel. What 4-star hotel charges separately for using an iron/ ironing board, and what 4-star hotel imposes separate charge of 4 euros for hot chocolate at breakfast, when breakfast is included in the rate? Also, we felt unwelcome, as our DOUBLE room had been supplied with towels for just one person, and we had to go to the receptionist to ask for more towels --- but why should we have to -- at a 4-star hotel? It doesn't matter how "friendly" they appear to be and how widely they smile -- the impression we got when faced with just 1 set of towels was -- that one of us two guests, must be unwelcome. And when that's the first impression as soon as you first arrive in your room, not much can change it. Also, they would not leave a spare toilet roll in the bathroom (again, 4-star property??!?), and when we ran out, we had to go to the receptionist late at night to ask for toilet paper, and what he brought us, was half a roll, obviously left over from another guest...
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient location to the metro stop. The hotel offers american breakfast, but I would had expected some options more traditional.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Confortable bed. Clean room. A bit small. Difficult to open a big luggage on the floor...
- Jk (6/5): - Very small rooms, very expensive for that kind of rooms
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great breakfast and location. Not a huge fan of the twin beds stuck together.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Rooms are way too small but clean. Staff was very friendly . Good breakfast . Close to Subway ,but the neighbourhood itself unpleasant
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff are the most helpful and hospitable I have ever encountered. They work hard to ensure you have a pleasant stay!
- Adam (10/5): Good Value - Excellent property. Very comfortable room. Great wifi. Excellent buffet breakfast. Conveniently located close to the Metro.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The positives: The team at the hotel work hard to make their guests welcome. The property has been renovated and is a pleasant place to stay. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good. Nearby are some cheap and friendly bars and restaurants.
The negatives: the room we booked was too small. Perhaps we should have upgraded. Nevertheless, we were disappointed. The hotel location is north west of the main tourist areas and it is best to use the metro, which is very close to the hotel. The walks to Plaka, Monastiraki and the Acropolis involve negotiating some run down streets.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property is not exactly a four star level but the staff are very hospitable. The breakfast could be better, very simple. The location is excellent, right next to a metro station. All in all it was a pleasant stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Central location and very clean. Elevator sometimes not working.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It is well priced, provides good breakfast and located nearby a metro station making 'commute' to archaeological sites easy.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good clean hotel, nice friendly staff and good service.
- Ricardo (10/5): - Outstanding! Everthing was perfect. Leni makes you feel like you never left home. Fantastic service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is at the centre of Athens, metro 2 minutes walk from the hotel. the staff very helpful and the room was clean and the services were excellent. I will definitively return to this hotel.
- Michelle (10/5): - Beautiful hotel, very inviting from the outside, lobby and the room
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel was in a great location, was clean and great for a short stay. However there was no hot water, we had cold/luke warm showers everyday (5 nights stay). We informed hotel staff of the lack of hot water after the first day we were told other guests have said the same but it must be because we were using the shower during peak hours?...which seems odd as a hotel should be able to accommodate to maximum guest capacity.
- John (10/5): People make a good hotel great - The people working at this hotel are friendly and helpful. They definitely make this hotel a notch better than it would otherwise have been. The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast spread was well done.
- RAZMANKASSIM (8/5): - Location in terms of accessibility to the city centre and major attractions
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We were very happy with our experience at this hotel. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We loved their breakfast buffet as well. We got the Family suite with 2 connecting rooms and it worked perfectly for us since there are 4 of us. The TVs in both of our rooms were small. I wish they had a larger TV, but it's really not that big a deal.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My family of 6 stayed at the junior suite for 4 days. All the staff members were extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stays. The hotel is located only 3 minutes walk to the subway station and it is only 3 stops to the Syntagma Square, the busiest tourist center of the city. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and appreciate the kindness shown by all staff members during out stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great value - Cute little hotel with very friendly staff. It is located a short two minute walk from the metro which will take you directly to the Acropolis or anywhere else in Athens. The room was comfortable, though there was some noise at night due to the street below (not hotel's fault). We stayed for three nights. The surrounding neighborhood is okay, but not somewhere most tourists will want to spend their time. The hotel is definitely a good value and we would stay there again. Free parking is available down the street in a large garage where someone will take your car and park it for you. Breakfast was decent.
- Cherry (6/5): - Location is very convenient. It's 1 min away from the metro station. Room was spacious. Breakfast was fair.
Inconvenience: we couldn't comtrol the AC temperature. We had to call the reception to adjust it and then we discovered that turning it off was not possible either. Water was not very hot the first night. We told the lady who was at the reception but she seemed surprised and did not bother to confirm that the issue will be taken care of.
Overall experience was ok. But the service was not the best.
- SL (4/5): - First of all there are several lotus hotels in Athens with the same name and pictures of the building and rooms are also very similar if not the same. I don’t know if it is done intentionally to confuse people but we had stayed in a Lotus before in athens and it looked exactly the same. Please pay attention to the address before booking. This property does not have an iron they said they iron for a price, they want to make money out of your wrinkled clothes. When we arrived the taxi left us a block away to walk to the hotel with all our suitcases because the street was closed for local street vending. Be aware that if you stay here the Parthenon is about 25-30 minutes away walking distance. If you use a taxi it can get expensive.
- Susan (8/5): A good all round experience. - A lovely comfortable hotel with friendly, efficient staff. Good choice "American Buffet" breakfast. Air conditioning worked well and strong, free WiFi. We had a problem with our room which was sorted over and above our expectations. Very convenient for the metro and although the area doesn't look that nice it actually feels pretty safe even at night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - nice, comfortable hotel. good staff, not far from city center and close to Metro station.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient, rustic and comfortable option. - Very good hotel in convenient location that allows you to experience a normal Athenian's life every day. Not too touristy but in a tourist friendly location.
- Mark (8/5): - The metro is less than 5 minutes walk away which means that you can access everything in Athens
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Can hear everything which is going on around neighborhood including neighbor's dog barking.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel was nice and staff was very friendly. The main disappointment was the location, as the hotel was almost a 25 minute walk from the plaka district and agoras so we had to keep getting taxis.
- Frank A (8/5): I wouyld recommend this hotel to anybody - Overall the hotel is great. The breakfast is excellent and the location is perfect since the subway station is only a couple of blocks from the hotel. The only comment I would make to the manager is to keep an eye on the smell of the rooms. The carpet in my room absorbed a bad smell like dirty socks. The rest was just fine. The bedding sheets were cleaned and well as the restroom.
- Alan (10/5): - Had an enjoyable stay. I walked a lot, but metro is nearby also buses.
There is a small cafe/bar just across the road, mainly frequented by locals, but very friendly and cheap.
- Heather (6/5): Not the best - The hotel is in close proximity to the subway, but this means there's an increased chance of pick pockets. Although the hotel is very clean, has a friendly staff and feels 4 star, our room was so small I couldn't set my suitcase open on the floor without tripping on it.
- Gaurav (10/5): Nice Hotel comfortable stay - Good And clean rooms, hotel staff very friendly, rooms are nicely attended, lockers in room available this hotel is just a minutes walk from Metro Station.
- T (8/5): - The staff are very helpful! Hotel is clean, comfy rooms and very close to the metro station only a minute walk, buy the 5 day pass for 9€ and you can use it for metro, tram and bus. Breakfast is free and pretty good too, my only complain is the WiFi it’s weak but overall this hotel is nice
- Lai wan (8/5): Nice hotel - Overall is good except poor connection of wi-fi at my room
- Ali (8/5): - Lovely room with comfortable bed. Nice quiet location away from busy city center but quite a few good restaurants within walking distance. The only complaint was the shower head holder didn't work so you had to hold the shower and wash hair with one hand. Would be nice to have coffee/tea maker in the room as we didn't have the breakfast included and decided the €10 was a bit pricey but the restaurant looked clean. There was a great cafe just down the street. We walked to the Acropolis which just over an hour but the red city hop on hop off bus stopped at the end of the road which made it very convenient to see the sights. The metro station is right there too.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Super nice hotel staff.
Location is a little off the beaten path and not walking distance to the best sites. Nice local neighbourhood that is safe during the day but does not feel safe to walk around after far. Nice local tavernas with good food nearby but I wouldn’t recommend walking around at night.
Rooms are Nice but the carpets are grimy especially in the hallways and should be replaced with tile.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Bait and switch...... - I booked and paid for a Superior Acropolis room but was given a lesser value room and hotel staff did not wanr to compensate me....bad business folks!!! Will not recommend - Josepha Habighorst-Clement
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff. Near the metro. Comfortable bed. It was 2 twin beds pushed together to form a King. Wifi was a little spotty.
- Evgeny (8/5): Nice stop in Athens - Good location near subway station. Network hotel facilities. Resonable price and clean room. Easy to find.
- jabran (10/5): Excellent location with close to metro - Great hotel. Friendly staff and excellent breakfast. Convenient location. Loved it.
- Mike (8/5): Very nice. - Nice king size bed, good breakfast.
Convenient to the metro, taxis, buses.
Not a lot of "touristy" things nearby, which makes it less crowded, but plenty of places to eat with nice prices.
- Neri (10/5): Close to everything/friendly staff - My husband and I stayed at the Lotus hotel in late December. The staff was great, and the rooms were very clean - on the smaller side but then we just slept there. Everyone was friendly and willing to help.
I loved that it was close to everything we needed. We were less than five minutes away from:
Coffee shop
Bakery (and food) shop - open 24 hours
Restaurants
Hop on/off Bus stop
Metro
Several small stores
Market
We had a great experience staying here, we would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Budget hotel with secure parking - Budget hotel, a little tired and dated, loose and missing fixtures in the bathroom, soft bed with no headboard. No tea or coffee facilities. Room very hot but reception altered it for us as it was controlled centrally. Basic breakfast of carbs, cold boiled egg etc. the usual Greek breakfast they have been serving since the Parthenon was built. Lovely coffee, smiling helpful staff and free secure parking were plus points. Area around the hotel very dirty and smelly with many migrants, avoid at night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very good service, good location - Good service, good location, great breakfast, room was not very comfortable (small).
- B (6/5): Convinient location, rude unprofessional staff - Hotel is located near the train station, however the neighborhood seems sketchy and dodgy. Clean ro
Breakfast buffet is poor and boring and had to keep asking to refill. One morning we had breakfast in the reception area as breakfast area did not have the capacity to accommodate all the guests.
Check-in and check-out were quite painful, especially when you come on a relaxing holiday from the other side of the globe.
We paid for 2 adjoining (family) rooms with 1 extra bed. On arrival we were told the hotel didn’t receive their money from Expedia, and until that is sorted we can’t have our rooms. We were also advised to contact Expedia and sort it ourselves. I explained and showed them my invoice and booking confirmation as it was fully paid months ago. They were persistent and they said Unless Expedia pays them the full amount there is nothing they can do for us. . We were on our 2 months Europe trip with 2 children coming from Sydney and we just arrived in Greece, things were clear on our end and we did not owe anything. Very disappointing to experience that treatment on our arrival, lack of understanding or care for your guests as we were all exhausted and long way from home. Eventually 10 hours later we were sorted. On check-out we nearly missed our ferry because of the staffs lack of care and professionalism. They refused ro contact the nearby parking they arranged, after they confirmed the night before. very stressfull overall
- Verified traveler (2/5): Great staff, very bad neighborhood - Great staff, very bad neighborhood. I wanted my money back but couldn’t because I booked almost three weeks in advance at this Hotel.
Bad judgment from me and Expedia representative for telling me it’s a four star hotel while it is not even two star hotel. It was in the ghetto, lots graffiti and drugs around that neighborhood
- Alejandro (10/5): Great stay - The best thing to our stay at the Lotus Hotel was the afternoon front desk man called Nikos he did an amazing job taking good care of us. Thank you Nikos I will love to see you again my friend
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was wonderful. Clean, quiet, excellent location in reguard to public transportation access. Helpful staff
- J (6/5): Newish hotel - built 2009 - Positive: Very welcoming staff when I arrived and even told me the nom to call reception should I need them - never had a hotel point that out to me. Breakfast buffet was good and is 10 euro's per person, not 20 euro's as advertised on Expedia. If you have a sweet tooth, you're in for a real treat. It took me 30 - 45 minutes to walk to all of the sites so you really don't need the metro. The TV in the room has the BBC World News channel. I asked for a blanket as get cold at night and an extra bath towel, staff are very accommodating. Hotel is less than a minutes walk from the metro station Metaxourghio (there are 2 subway exits) and there are numerous cheap places to eat around the square however there are 2 eateries you should avoid, they are next to each other. One is Alexander the Great and the other I can't remember the name but if you order chicken from them, don't expect to get proper chicken (still can't figure out what it was they served me but it was bad).
Negative points: Its a real shame this hotel has been built next to residential flats less than 10 metres away as I could see into their flats and hear everything despite wearing ear plugs at night with the windows closed. Constant dog barking was a daily nuisance at night. Would have been nice to have tea making facility in the room and even a box of tissues wouldn't go a miss. Wifi is the worst I have encountered. Kept disconnecting me all the time, a real pain when you're online!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient location. Clean with great breakfast - I enjoyed my stay and will recommend the hotel. Very easy to reach all the sites in old Istanbul.
- Max (6/5): Beware of extra charging - This is an OK hotel in a not so safe area of Athens. We got a big studio for our group of 4 with one real bed and two opened sofa. We had previously rented an extra room which we canceled a few days before our arrival. The Hotel charged us complete fee for this room in place of proposing to keep it not telling us we will be charged anyway
- Alison (8/5): Wonderful staff. - The hotel is well located with a Metro station at the end of the road. Our room 106 had a wrap around balcony on three sides. Always kept clean and comfortable throughout our week long stay, but the highlight has to be the staff who are warm, welcoming and incredibly helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay in Athens.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel. Close to subway station - Good stay. Nice staff. Small hotel. Closeness to the subway station made it easy to get to all the sites in Athens.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Do NOT go to this Hotel - The worse place ever! Please don't stay in this hotel.
You will hear the cars passing all night people screaming and fighting outside and it's NOT in downtown Athens you have to take the metro to get to downtown Athens.
The breakfast???
They owner think is hotel is perfect and the cars well it goes with the hotel that why he will tells you.
For your own peace of mind and to have a quiet room to sleep do not go to this hotel.
- Alex (10/5): Clean hotel in a quiet area. - I got a very nice room overlooking the front street. The room was clean and the staff friendly. The area is very quiet. The breakfast is good with hot options available along with fresh pastries.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean hotel in a quiet area. - I got a very nice room overlooking the front street. The room was clean and the staff friendly. The area is very quiet. The breakfast is good with hot options available along with fresh pastries.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Decent neighborhood if you are from the city. Walking distance to all of the things Athens has to offers. About 2 miles from good restraints.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Simple nice hotel but not the best location - Hotel was cute. Staff were nice. Just wouldn't stay here again due to the location of it
- Aunt Travels (10/5): Athens Adventure - Excellent hotel, clean, great staff, location - less than a block from the metro. We really enjoyed our stay here.
Thank you!
- Hillary (10/5): Cute Hotel - Nice little hotel remodeled with lots of character.
- Ron (8/5): Reasonable and well located. - The hotel offers easy and quick access to the city cites with a subway station around the corner. BTW the metro is inexpensive, clean, safe and efficient. The rooms are clean, well maintained and reasonably priced.
It was well suited for us and quite enjoyable.
- Kat (10/5): - Very nice, clean and comfortable hotel. It is located 2 minutes away from the metro station which was great!
Super lovely and very helpful staff.
Breakfast was delicious.
Near the hotel, across the road from the metro there were two great cafes. One served absolutely delicious "souvlaki" and the waiter was very nice and the other cafe served great cocktails and other drinks. The barman was super friendly.
Would definitely visit Athens again! :)
- mohannad (2/5): Bad hotel - Bad hotel.. smal room.. bad wifi.. 4 star is to match for thes hotel.. never recommend thes hotel to a frind.
- Traveller (8/5): A 1 minute walk from the metro station. - Very nice hotel, parts of the room are dated but the furnishings and bathroom are new.
- R & R (4/5): - Not in the nicest area. Didn't feel unsafe tho. Close to train station.... didn't use it
- Greg (6/5): Wouldn't recommend this one! - Booked the hotel. Called back 5 days later and three weeks before departure to cancel and were advised by Expedia that the room was 100% non refundable. Were told that we were advised when we booked it but I know that we weren't. Neither Expedia or the hotel were prepared to do anything ... pretty surprising. Hotel is in a rough area. Hotel staff are very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good. Rooms were hot and full of flies. You have to call the front desk to lower the air conditioning and despite our request to set it at 20 degrees at night they said they would only set it to 22 and that would have to be good enough. Two single beds despite requesting a double or queen ... no face cloths ... I've traveled Europe before so not comparing to N.A. standards just disappointing. Expedia has lost a good customer as I used to book all of my travel through them and I travel a lot.
- a (6/5): Noisy and dirty area but nice room - Very confortable with ear plugs but qe have not been able to start the air conditioner..
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not what we expected! - We changed our reservations the minute we arrived. Garbage everywhere
- momo (8/5): Nice hotel and clean close to Metro Station - Excelent inside clean and very good service. The street is not clean or nice but 200 meters us metro station
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very close to metro - This hotel is very close to the metro stop and really convenient but slightly out of town so not many places to eat nearby. We arrived late and were advised to stick to the hotel as places nearby weren't great quality. Despite this there is a "bread factory" shop just round the corner which sells great snacks and sandwiches for day trips as well as amazing cakes.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice and comfortable hotel. The staff were very nice, friendly and very helpfull.
- William (8/5): - Room was comfortable and staff was very helpful and showed us places to go in Athens. Good location, near the train station and near good restaurants.
- Asta (10/5): Simple but good hotel - Very comfortable and nice hotel for the price. Staff is very friendly. Recommend it to everyone
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Hotel, Not the Best Location - Overall, good experience. Staff catered to our wishes and were attentive. Room was clean, though small. Mattress was quite warm. The biggest issue is that the neighborhood isn't near to much and is also not the safest.
- sommer (10/5): Great hotel, not the best area - I loved this hotel but wished it was in a better area. As three girls traveling we felt uncomfortable going out in this area at night but during the day it was super close to the metro so we could easily go to all the sights and fun parts of Athens! Also only about 40 minutes by metro from the airport so that was easy! The hotel was clean and comfortable and the food was good at the restaurant. Very great hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Excellent hotel, good value. Excellent location close to the metro
- Verified traveler (2/5): Definitely HOTEL LOTUS is not a four star hotel. - Hotel Lotus is a very very basic hotel. There was only 1 side table for double bed. I asked for another side table but hotel did not provide. I complained about broken shower head and water logging in shower cubicle. Nothing was done. I had to hold shower head in my hand to take as shower. This hotel should be given 2star. Numerous time I requested them to upgrade our room but no.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel close to metro - Nice hotel, 1 minutes walk from metro. Only a few stops from main attractions. Friendly staff, comfortable room, and good breakfast. Would recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great for exploring Athens - Lovely hotel with easy access to tube station, we stayed in a superior room which was very roomy and clean, had coffee n tea making facilities, but pillows were very hard and lumpy. Staff very polite and helpful
