Guest Reviews
- Casey (2/5): - They gave us all the keys to our room apparently without keeping one for themselves, they didn’t have a spare, the master key didn’t work, then blamed us for losing the key when they didn’t keep anyone, this hotel is trash and a waste of money, the room was dirty, and the owner was unfriendly (Property Of Stupid), we were locked out of our room for a night and they refuse a refund because they didn’t have a key to get us in our room. Basically a hostel posing as a hotel
- Gary (10/5): - Nice place good people most attractions walkable
- Horace (6/5): - Great location and friendly staff
- Paul (8/5): - The staff was very helpful and friendly.
- Paul (10/5): - The staff is very helpful and kind
- Gabriel (10/5): - Breakfast was good
- Terrance (8/5): - All the staff was kind and highly hospitable. Their breakfast is more than adequate as the staff tries to accommodate each individual. There were two grocery stores located right next to the hotel which was very convenient. The beds and blankets were comfortable and the street our room faced was very quiet when we went to bed (9pm or shortly after). We really only used the hotel for sleep and we got good rest there every night.
- Justin (2/5): -
Our recent stay at the madly overpriced Hotel Andra was v disappointing and a total mismatch from the Expedia listing. What was advertised as a pleasant and comfortable hotel was, in reality, a worn down, substandard establishment, lacking all flair or imagination.Examining the pictures on Expedia again gives a completely unrealistic impression of the state of the place. The camera lies. The bedroom was dowdy and gloomy. A picture, hanging askew on the wall, was of the cheapest mass-produced sort. The television was tiny. The furniture was of the cheapest materials. A light fixture, similar to what you'd find in a public lavatory, housed a roost of dead flies. The shower's strut was broken, and it was impossible to use the sink plug which was stuck. The room key got stuck and bent. When reported to the staff, we were met with a threat of a fine. The host wore a hoodie. The hotel was on the upper floors above an alleyway, which itself was posted in Arabic, with no German or English to be seen. But it cost about £600 for two nights so I could hardly just say goodbye to that. I’ve never ever go there again.
- Blina (2/5): - The hotel needs to be cleaned
- Santiago (8/5): - Hotel it’s ok, staff is great. Internet is terrible. Area it’s like a little turkey town but location is great because is close to the downtown
- William (10/5): - Such good value for money, very close to Munich hbf and walkable to Munich city centre. Lovely staff and smooth check-in and out. We will stay here again. Thanks!
- Ruben (4/5): - Dirty street, shady entry, terrible room with broken furniture...
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient location near station in immigrant neighborhood. Rewe grocery store on same block. Walking distance to Altstadt. Hotel had feel of hostel with private rooms. Our room for 4 was extremely spacious though. Condition was basic and somewhat aged but clean.
- Anna (6/5): - Staff is nice but no AC and I was put on the roof! Breakfast is 15 euro and good! Location is ok and can walk to train station!
- Lenira (4/5): - Wifi connection was not great in the room, no outlet next to the bed. Furniture was dirty and bathroom faucets need repair. I would feel much safer with an additional lock on the door only accessible from the inside, I was disappointed that this was not available.
- Jack (2/5): - Staff were very rude, refused to admit we had a booking, took hours to check in
- Jaime (10/5): - It was
- Deanna (8/5): - The staff was wonderful and the property was clean. The bedding and bed were comfortable.
We did have minor issue with toilet continuously running and the shower would not drain. Only other note, we had a front facing room which was quite loud at night but then again, it was a very central and convenient location.
- Scott (2/5): - Terrible, avoid!
- Simon (10/5): - Great value, helpful location. Lightbulb in the bahtroom needs replacing
- Anthony (8/5): - Good hotel for those looking for a budget friendly option within walking distance to the main Munich train station.
- Ann (6/5): - The entrance is down a dirty alley and you enter a tiny lift to the small reception. Very friendly staff but very tired property, needs a refurb, carpets washed and new tvs, ours wasn't working but the lovely young chap at reception replaced it. Beds were comfy and bathroom was good. About 8 mins walk from the central train station so a good location and a very good supermarket 100m from the entrance with everything you need. Good coffee shop down the road as well.
- perla (6/5): - I liked the first gentleman who welcomed us. The second one was in a hurry and unhelpful, even when turning a light on in a dark area we had to cross to get to our room.
I did not like the area; it was unsafe for women. The hotel was very noisy at very late hours. The carpet was dirty, and the chairs were peeled.
I would highly recommend including a category of hotels that are safe for women. We had to walk through very unsafe areas to get to the hotel.
- Jasper (6/5): - This property was alright. Great for budget travel. Bathroom was nice. Kind of a loud area but short walk to many prime locations.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The front desk was very nice and helpful. The location was perfect for Oktoberfest. The carpet could have used more maintained and the beds could have been more comfortable. But the staff was very pleasant.
- John (8/5): - 3 blocks from train and subway and about as far to Oktoberfest grounds. The neighborhood feels a bit sketchy and the hotel entrance corridor feels like i made a bad mistake. HOWEVER, once inside, the desk staff were nice and my room was comfortable. The negatives were the dim room, low sloped ceiling for half the room, and the elevator not going to the top floor (where my room was). I did nothing about the heating as the room was find for October. Breakfast for €15 was reasonable. Given Oktoberfest the rate was fair. No room safe or kettle or instant coffee. No refrigerator.
- Diana (10/5): - Friendly people
- Juan Jose Bonilla (10/5): - Good place
- RUTH (4/5): - Hotel entrances is next to a supermarket really dirty and zone is not good! The only good thing is that is close to the station
- Katharine (10/5): Here’s why there’s a snail statue at reception - Wonderful service from the nicest receptionist who recommended sights, restaurants and a statue of a giant snail.
- Jerald (4/5): - No air conditioning in the rooms and they get very hot. It was over 80 degrees during the night while we were trying to sleep. The beds were not made up with sheets or covers and now I know why they were just folded and lying on top of the bed…because you don’t need them. The windows cracked a tiny bit at the top, but there was no airflow to drag the cool night air into the room. Moreover, when you cracked the windows it made it even more difficult to sleep because of the rowdiness outside. The front desk had no fans to assist in cooling the room, either. Around 4:00 am, I cracked the room door and slept with it open to create an airflow to try to cool the room down with minor success. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all for a decent night’s sleep. The washer and dryer that they advertise as being available does not exist.
- AZUCENA (6/5): - We like that it is walk distance to train station, but it was a misunderstanding about we pay in advance and the hotel computer system is not process payments right away, and the hotel assistant wants to change us again, and apparently, she apologies with a free breakfast but we did pay on advance that too and she never return any money back. Disappointed Customer Service
- Paris (8/5): - Good value. Staff could not be more helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Spacious room for 4 but woldn't stay again - 10 minute walk from main Munich Train Station, through the Middle Eastern section of town. The large sign on building marks the spot, but a little tricky to find where to turn once you're at the sign, until you see the smaller sign down the alley to the right. Have to walk upstaris to tiny reception area (elevator only went down). Stayed two nights with two young adult kids. Room and bathroom pretty spacious for the 4 of us. Our toilet in 101 flushed everything except the TP. Weird. Front desk guy told us to push it down with the scrub brush in the bathroom, or we could use the lobby bathrooms. Uh, no thanks. Hot water takes 5 minutes to warm up - no exaggeration. The tap water in delicious cold mountain water. Loved it. Construction on patio outside our two patio windows. Pillows are floppy lumpy saggy. Mattresses worn. We opted out of breakfast. It wasn't worth $15 a head. Instead you can find great food at the train station. Kitchens in Munich close at 10pm except for McDonalds and Sara middle eastern restaraunt, so if you arrive late, be prepared to go hungry or walk to those two.
- Miles (6/5): - The bed was clean but uncomfortable. Our room was located right over an extremely loud alley where workers were constantly dragging pallet jacks back and forth late into the night and starting again early in the morning.
- Lou (8/5): - The property is a surprise as from the street it is very nondescript. The hotel starts on the second floor (VERY friendly staff at front desk) and once you head to the very clean and updated room and the inside atrium presents a very modern look with windows and a lounge area that was being renovated on our stay.
Great value not central location but very walkable!
Suggest the following inexpensive additions to each room for a superior experience:
- A fan to circulate the air
- coffee maker
- small bar fridge for drinks
Wonderful employees made it memorable:)
- Harold (4/5): - Online photos and descriptions did not correspond with reality onsite. Area was noisy and congested, and the hotel had no parking facility. Bedding, towels and bathroom were clean, but the chair in the room was soiled and dirty. Carpet at the room door entrance was worn thru in spots and unsightly. The elevator door inside and out was unclean. Two different male receptionists encountered, and one female receptionist, were helpful and deserve commendation for their service.
- Piper (6/5): - The Andra was clean and very convenient to the train station. The room did not have AC, so it got quite warm. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
- Linda (2/5): - DO NOT STAY HERE. The amenities listed for this hotel do not exist. There is no parking available - they told me to park on the street. There is no laundry. There is no bar. There is no 24/7 room service - there is no room service at all. Rooms dont even offer coffee, nor fridges. The terrace that we had to walk across to get to our room is crumbling and was cordoned off by danger tape. Our room had filthy carpets. We checked in, went to find a laundromat and tried to cancel the renainder of our reservation within 2 hours of check in due the false advertising and we checked out the next morning after waiting 3 hours for a "manager" that never came. The hotel refused to refund anything, refused to check me out of the room, and lost the Amazon package that was delivered to me and signed for by reception. They are dishonest, rude, and cheats. I am appaled that they are on Expedia because this IS NOT a reputable company.
- JOSE (2/5): - I'm not the needy type but this was probably my 1st stay. No AC, no fan, only ventilation was through the window which was facing the loud street. The staff is great but the owner or manager definitely greedy. Please stay away if you want a cool room. Otherwise 15.min walk to the city center
- Donald (4/5): Disappointed - To start out on the positive the rooms were clean and spacious, but not the most comfortable beds and terrible pillows. Breakfast was also decent and good coffee. The hotel states it has laundry facilities which it doesn’t. It also states there is a gym nearby, which there is not. Also it is not in the best area.
- Jessica (10/5): - We loved our stay at Hotel Andra. Walkable to Marienplatz and Munchen Hbf. Only downside was the lack of air-conditioning, but even the hotels we stayed at with a/c never felt that cool either.
- alexandra (6/5): - The hotel itself was okay. The elevator was extremely small, and it was weird to know that they had a physical key to the room, which was left in the room after we checked in. Even though it is located 10 mins away from the train station and 15 minutes from all historic/interesting points, it is also located in a weird area where we did not feel safe late afternoon/evening (women); the area has a lot of striptease clubs and other stuff like that, you know what I mean. There is only Middle Eastern food around. we ended up bringing food and eating in the room to avoid walking outside in the evening. The hotel does not have a microwave or fridge available for guests, and their kitchen is only open for breakfast; there's no coffee maker either, which wasn't a big deal for us. The staff was very friendly and accommodating the 3 times we interacted with them (the elevator was on the ground floor, reception was on the first floor, and our room was on the 4th).
If you are staying at this hotel, please bring soap/shampoo - theirs is like dish soap :-(
- sukhawadee (6/5): - The carpet and flooring a bit outdated and dirty. Elevator only works on one building ONLY. Please be aware before booking if you have multiple luggages.
- Laura (8/5): - The location is very convenient. The staff are excellent- helpful and friendly.
The area can be noisy if the room faces Goethestr. The windows are very good at blocking the noise but then the room gets warm.
- Carlo (8/5): - Basic Hotel.. within walking distance of Central Station.. shower & toilet worked ok.. bed was comfortable enough.. no fridge or tea/coffee in room..
- Akshika (6/5): - Convenient if you want to stay close to Munich Hbf
- Alice (10/5): - Comfortable hotel with friendly service. Close to transit, shopping, sites.
- Gary (6/5): - The hotel is on the edge of a very good neighborhood and uncomfortable
- Hong Yu (10/5): - The room was very clean and the reception was very kind.
- Nancy (4/5): Was very underwhelming - It felt like a glorified motel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Enjoyed Stay - The hotel was nice and the rooms were large. Our family of four had plenty of space. Also conveniently located to train station.
- Karen (10/5): Jack&Karen from Seneca Sc - Hotel Staff met our needs
- Robert (10/5): - It was conveniently located between the train station and old town. The manager was extremely nice and friendly. The room was clean and quiet. I would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location was perfect for Oktoberfest celebrations, sifhtseeing and restaurants. Safe, spacious room and bathroom amd steps away from the train/central station. Couldnt ask for better hotel without costing a fortune. Thank you for a great stay
- Meredith (10/5): Lovely hotel near the train station - I stayed at Hotel Andra for a couple nights while in Munich, and it’s a lovely little hotel. The room was comfortable, the breakfast was delicious, and the staff were helpful and knowledgeable. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends.
- Kathleen (10/5): Great place to stay - Location was great. Staff super friendly. Clean
- Mathew (8/5): - Place was nice and fit for purpose. Great place for us to stay during oktoberfest!
- GRAZYNA (8/5): - Very limited furnishing, ok for 1-2 nights
- Lori (8/5): - Quiet and clean, in a walkable neighborhood convenient to the train station.
- patricia (6/5): - The room carpeting could use some conditioning .
- Annette (10/5): - There was a mix up re my booking, but the manager was very decent and generous about it. That’s rare!
- Kevin (10/5): Friendly staff, clean rooms, close to everything. - Andra was a great, small hotel close to the Marienplatz and other fun areas of Munich. The staff was very friendly and accommodating when our plans suddenly changed and we came a day early.
- Carl (10/5): - Flew in and got to the hotel at 10 am and the very friendly desk manager got us right into a room. Lovely staff. Great Turkish restaurant on the road up to Haptbahnhof. Nice breakfast spot
- PETER (8/5): - Hotel in good location close to Central Station and Marienplatz. Rooms are good size and clean and room was quiet.
- Tam (6/5): -
- Margret (6/5): - The noise in the morning was bad. Rolling pallets of fruits and vegetables plus loud talking. Breakfast disappointing. Clean and location was great
- Adrian-Bogdan (8/5): - A good basic hotel close to the central station; of course, this is not an upscale neighborhood but we didn't have any issues. Room & bathroom were clean. Furniture, walls etc did not show signs of heavy wear, the place must've been renovated not too long ago. Our room did not have AC but that was ok cause temps dropped to like 55-60F (or 12-15C) over night. Staff was friendly. I was satisfied with our stay at this hotel.
- Nerissa (6/5): - Poor internet connection, no compliments to make hot drinks, not enough toiletries provided. Breakfast is good. Sorry, disappointed.
- Ivan (10/5): Great hotel - The stuff is friendly, the owner is kind and will help the customers with anything he can.
The area outside the hotel is not so clean, but it is located on such an easy way from the Central Train Station.
The Old Town of Munich is 10 minutes walking!
There is a locked door on the entry that you have to call first in order to be able to come in, but once you have the code, it is ok for the guests.
If you need to call, call between 9 and 12 local time!!!
As overall...
A++ hotel
A+ location
B for area
Would I visit again... for sure!
- Michael (10/5): - This hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof. It's a simple, clean and comfortable hotel. The gentleman working the desk couldn't be more helpful. After a long day's travel we arrived at 10am which was early for check in. We asked if we could store our luggage somewhere and start exploring the city. Without hesitation or an extra charge he kindly checked us in and we started our vacation in Germany on a great note.
Thank you Hotel Andra for a pleasant stay! It is much appreciated.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location (especially if you're going to the Oktoberfest.) Friendly staff. The breakfast was amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - uniquely located and very helpful staff. Would recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was great
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The cleaner they use smells like tequila. But very friendly guests and staff!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Location was unpleasant, there was consteuctiin noise at 630am, no ac, buikding was old and not well maintained
- Heather (8/5): Pleasant stay, great breakfast - A few blocks from the train station and about 15 minute walk from Marianplatz. The breakfast was incredible and service was pleasant and friendly. We were traveling with our children and the accommodations were perfect for us.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a great find. We arrived early in the morning and were greeted by friendly staff at the front desk (who speak English) and got lucky enough to be able to check in early so we could leave our bags and go explore the city.
Breakfast was decent, they offered a buffet combination of cold and hot foods including fresh eggs and baked goods as well as fresh fruit, various hot and cold drinks.
After checkout they offered luggage storage so we could continue seeing the city without lugging all our stuff with us until we caught our train out of Munich.
Located about a 5-10 minute walk to the central train station (depending on how quickly you walk), and the same to two different public transit (U&S Bahn) stops. It’s extremely convenient.
Overall would definitely stay here again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff are friendly and welcoming. Breakfast is a true smorgasbord with sliced meats, fresh fruit and fresh fruit salad, breads and baked sweets, cheese platters, olives, eggs, yogurt, sausages and more, more, more. The restaurant next door is delicious for dinner.
Location is central and convenient.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the train station which was very convenient for us but the hotel was noisy at times and the amenities sub par (no toiletries; no coffee machines in room or in breakfast area; no computer with printer in lobby) and the neighborhood a little sketchy. That said, our room was spacious and clean.
- Vladimir (6/5): - Excellent breakfast! But the area is not so good. The construction next door make it even worse with noise.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very centrally located in the heart of Munich. Great access to the city yet remarkably quiet considering the location is right in the city.
- Cormac (8/5): - This is an excellent little hotel with an excellent host. Very convenient location , ideal for the Central Station and for exploring the city. The immediate surroundings may seem a little sinister but don't let that put you off. The cleanliness is first class, if I had anything negative to say it would be that they need to improve the wi-fi as it is sketchy at best and they might think about investing in Aircon. Overall very happy with my stay.
- wafaa (4/5): - Hote is not clean, location is good but in a very loud area where you can not sleep quietly. Very bad experience
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice location near the station - I enjoyed staying at Hotel Andra. People work there were very friendly and helpful :) as other people said, breakfast was amazing!
The hotel is located near the main station. So you can go wherever you want from there and you can come back to hotel when you are tired after going for sightseeing or nightout etc :)
However you need to lock the door of your room with a key from outside and inside which made me feel uncomfortable. I stayed on 5th floor but the wifi was terrible in my room. It didn’t work at all. It was annoying..
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff were friendly the breakfast buffet was wow everything was great
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice hotel for the price. Friendly and helpful staff too.
- Peter R (8/5): Spoiled Americans - The hotel is clean and mostly comfortable. Beds are a little hard (not firm, but hard)
Wish they would provide washcloths
Wish they provided top sheets (flat sheet between person and duvet cover). I realize this isn’t the “standard” in Europe, but is everywhere in the US.
- Kareen Fe (10/5): Great Hotel - Breakfast was very good. Our room was very clean and was cleaned everyday. Staff are friendly and accommodating. They even printed our bus ticket with no charge. We had a lovely stay. Thank you!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location and proximity to main train station and underground. Convienent supermarket and places to eat and drink.
- Joseph (8/5): AMAZING Breakfast and nice room! - The Hotel is located just a 10-minute walk from the central train station. The outside of the hotel doesn’t look like much, but inside is better. The breakfast was AMAZING each morning! Sausages, bacon, breads, cereals, juices...everything! The staff was very friendly and spoke English. We jumped on the train each day and headed two stops to the city center. I give this hotel an 8/10, definitely recommended!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Friendly staff, large clean room, not far from train station. Good breakfast - 12 euros. No elevator in part of the building, which made managing large suitcases difficult. Wireless in room was very weak.
- Marcella (10/5): Excellent. Would definitely stay here again. - Excellent. The location is perfect. It’s a very short and easy walk to and from the train station (Munich Hbf). It’s also within a short walking distance to city center, and all the attractions. Lots of restaurants around too. The staff is so welcoming, friendly and kind. They were also very helpful in giving us maps and information about the city and the Neuschwanstein castle. The room was comfortable, excellent hot water and water pressure in the shower, and we felt very safe. There is a little market just below the hotel, with lots of fresh fruits and veggies. We would definitely stay her again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - not good to stay in munich during sunday. all the shop closed
- K (10/5): - The staff were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was a good variety and the room was comfortable.
- Darko (8/5): DarkoRd - The entrance to the hotel is through a haustor where the Arabs constantly bring some goods to the store that is in front of the hotel.
The room is large, but not clean, it has cockroaches. There is no refrigerator in the room or a safe. Liquid soap and shampoo for bathing are diluted with water so that it is almost impossible to shower.
When I reported a defective hair dryer, it took two days to replace it. The food is great .
- SAMUEL (10/5): Super duper friendly staffs - The staffs are super friendly. They will trying to help you with anything :)
- andrei (10/5): Very GOOD!!! - Very nice clean hotel with very friendly staff.
- andrei (10/5): GOOD - Clean nice quite place with friendly staff.
- Suzanne (10/5): - The guy that checked us in was so helpful the whole time we stayed at the hotel. Room was really big and breakfast was great!
