Guest Reviews
- Michaela (10/5): Exceptional -
- mikey74540 (6/5): Good location but a compromise - We chose this hotel for location and its free carpark (offsite). We got both those but now know that Salta doesn't take much time to explore so might stay on the outskirts if we came again. The staff were excellent and very helpful. However the facilities were disappointing and in need of some modernisation. The breakfast on offer was poor and the combinations made no sense. Bizarely no knives and forks to eat ham cheese and eggs. The management need to review this as it couldn't be compared to any others we had during our tour of the country.
- Michael (7/5): Needs some work - Location and car parking Breakfast was poor. No TV with English subtitles. Room generally needs updating.
- Bob (9/5): Superb - A comfortable small hotel (12 rooms) with a pool and great staff (particularly Fabian, who was extremely helpful). Very well located and just a couple of blocks to the square. nothing.
- Noor (7/5): Good - We were unlucky enough to have quite noisy neighbors who came home late at night. no luxury but a nice hotel with very friendly staff. The location is perfect.
- chulopalermo (8/5): Good Location and nice rooms - Just a 7 minutes walk from the main plaza with simple but confortable rooms around a small pool. Nice and helpful staff, quiet, breakfast ok, free parking available very close. A recommandable adresse in the center of Salta « La Linda « .
- Exposure (10/5): Very nice place to discover Salta - A nice and simple hotel very well placed in the centre off Salta and very close to Iglesia San Francisco and the Plaza 9 de Julio. It offers a very early breakfast which is perfect when you book an day trip here.
- rattlesnake_ch (10/5): Great location and comfortable - This hotel is perfectly located close to the main plaza and the bus terminal. Staff was very friendly and breakfast was sufficient for us. The rooms are very clean, simple and comfortable. The hotel provides very good value in our opinion and we enjoyed our stay a lot.
- tash440 (8/5): Good location - There is parking available right in front of the hotel. A good and safe location.
The reception bloke was helpful. Paid $66. Good room. Clean. A bit noisy as the walls are thin. I always carry ear plugs so wasn't an issue.
Good wifi.
Breakfast was basic. However there was egg on offer. It took a bit of effort to get him to cook us eggs as he was lazy I guess.
I recommend this hotel if you are staying in salta
- nancysar (10/5): very good hotel very good offers! - we stayed for a night there while going from bolivia to buenos aires, we found an offer online for 35€ booking on the same day. we got a huge room with a great bed & great shower. Also very helpful staff & good facilities. It is located in the city center of salta and very close to the Bus station! i would definately recommend it!
- Davidandalun (4/5): Slightly shabby with a dirty pool - The hotel is in a central location- which is its redeeming feature. The room was clean but the air con was rubbish. They emailed us after booking to see if wanted a double or two singles- in the end we got both! A room with 4 beds.
The pool is a small but was dirty with grit and sand at the bottom.
Breakfast was lack lustre.
- DreaM518 (6/5): Clean, safe, well-located, friendly, but nothing special - The hotel was a good stopping point on our trip through Salta. Rooms were clean, service was friendly, and the location was walking distance from the town center. But generally it felt like a basic motel you could get in any part of the world.
- ElderTrekkers (8/5): Extremely Helpful Staff - We stayed here twice in this standard, comfortable, clean hotel. It even had a small outdoor swimming pool (filled the small inner courtyard). What stood out for us was the very helpful front desk staff, especially Fabian, who helped us, with unrelenting patience, with everything from arranging for a more suitable room for us, to getting a reservation at our next stay, to directions on things to visit in San Juan.
- G7490AQtomm (4/5): More like a 2 star hotel - We were disappointed with the hotel and do not think the services or standard reflect that of a 3 star hotel. The hotel is very noisy - it is situated next to a parking lot and next to that is a large school where children's screams can be heard from 7:30-17:30. We also had cleaners gossiping outside our room from 7am for 30mins. Wi-fi is terrible - couldn't access from our room (#12) and when you do move to a spot were you can connect, it drops out constantly. Our room was a bit unsatisfactory also. The curtains in the room were ripped and our shower curtain had heavy mould stains. Positives - ok location and friendly staff.
- AledysVer (8/5): Very pleasant stay at Hotel San Francisco - This hotel is very well located and quite nice; it will surely make your stay in Salta very pleasant. The staff is very friendly, they help you every way they can (making reservations for you, giving good advice and useful information) and the rooms are comfortable (big beds, airco/heating, flat screens, etc). Breakfast is basic, but they serve what you can normally expect for this meal of the day in Argentina. It would be nice to have more variety. All in all, I recommend this hotel in Salta.
- Mirte-Lis (8/5): Comfortable little hotel with central location - Nice hotel with king-size bed, it is a small hotel so book in advance. The location is very good, walking distance to most attractions in the city. The price is very reasonable. Breakfast was included, it was basic and served at the table, but everything we needed.
- travelerbar (6/5): Average - Central location, clean hotel and nice staff. The hotel is smaller that the pictures show and there is no elevator. Although my room had a window, it opened to a surrounding balcony overlooking a yard, and so I had to lock it. One bad point: I asked if there was a wake-up call service and they said there was, but no one woke me up the next morning. Luckily I heard the alarm on my smartphone Breakfast was just ok.
- JusssB (8/5): Friedly staff, perfect location - +++: very nice rooms, well equiped bathroom, clean towels, shampoo, hair dryer; friendly, helpful staff (spoke a little bit English), tasty breakfast; perfect location - very close to the main square and other attractions
---: it could be cleaner, especially in the bathroom: there was mould on the walls and ceiling. Sometimes it was a little bit noisy in the morning (a school has to be in the close neighbourhood)
- PeterToronto1 (8/5): Decent Convenient Hotel for a very reasonable price - This is a very convenient hotel in Salta Argentina...close to three great restaurants, near the main square, with decent comfortable rooms and a very helpful staff. The price can't be beat and the service is commendable.
- 658kt (8/5): Centrally located, friendly staff, clean and nice - A few minutes walk from the central square in Salta (where all the tourist attractions are) this clean, small, neat little hotel features wifi, a swimming pool, and breakfast. Well priced, would stay again. Front desk spoke English, and was very friendly.
- BrenCesca (10/5): If you’re staying in Salta, stay here! - From our experience, we can only agree with all the positive reviews of this hotel. The San Francisco is a small, well-run establishment that offers a fabulous combination of quality and value. Although we were travelling as a couple we had a quadruple room as this was the only one remaining on the booking site we used. The room was very spacious and had a large, spotlessly clean and well-appointed bathroom that was better than many we have seen in more expensive hotels. The bed was excellent. It was quite warm while we were in Salta; the air-conditioning worked perfectly and the small swimming pool was a bonus.
Breakfast was (as others have mentioned) the same each day, but it was always decent, filling and served with a smile. The fresh orange juice was a plus, and it’s hard to see how a tiny place without a commercial kitchen could do much better. The staff will happily provide an earlier breakfast if you are going on a day trip.
The location was very good; it’s about four blocks from the main plaza, which Calle Caseros leads to directly. So there is much less traffic noise than you’d find in the city centre, but it’s still a safe, well-lit walk at night. The gift shops along the way from the plaza to the hotel offer better value for money.
The last word is for the staff. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and professional, and went out of their way to make us welcome and provide helpful information without ever being obtrusive.
- Gabriel11 (10/5): Beautiful room, beautiful people - We enjoyed our five night stay here. Our room was comfortable and well heated, the bathroom was pleasant with good lighting and plentiful hot water. We slept well in the bed and we enjoyed the continental breakfasts. I would not eat Dulce de Leche again but it is popular throughout South America and I'm happy enough to have tried it.
We found the service to be exemplary from the moment of our arrival. As we had travelled by bus from San Pedro de Atacama and been delayed three hours at the border and there was no money changer facilities at the bus station we took a taxi and requested they pay the taxi when we arrived near Midnight. The staff member was happy to do that and we were able to pay back the money the next day.
The pool area was attractive and the pool was clean but cold. Wifi was better outside than in our room but it worked well in the restaurant area and we were welcome to sit there with a cup of tea.
We were recommended to a travel agency that was around the corner, where the staff spoke good English and was very helpful.
- grise13 (8/5): excellent people, nice hotel - We staied 2 nights in this hotel that is 5 minutes walking distance from the city center. People were simply perfect, very nice, helping us with everything we needed from calling a taxi to change our money or with a special early breakfast the day we went to the Quebrada de Humauaca.
Rooms are clean, nice and comfortable.
A place to feel at home.
- 326kanana (8/5): Somewhere between three and four - It’s a popular little place, so popular in fact that they could only accommodate us for one night because of the weekend, so book ahead is my advice if you decide you want to stay here.
We were shown to a small room without a window, but it did have a little garden alcove at the entrance (open to the sky) which kind of made it OK. We arrived late at around 10.30pm, so no hot water left... bummer!!
Other than that everything was pretty good here. There is even a pool, but as you can see in the photos it looks more like an oversized bath tub.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the place is clean and all the usual we have come to expect, ...cable TV, reliable wifi, good quality bathroom products and hand towels are all provided. The breakfast is a bit on the lean side… no eggs and only white bread which we don’t eat, so for me it was just a glass of fresh orange juice.
I chose this hotel because it was the closest available to the main plaza. It’s 3 ½ blocks away, so not all that close really. I can’t decide whether to give it three or four stars. I’ll be generous and give it four, but I think it should really be 3 ½.
You should also consider Hotel del Antiguo Convento (the old convent) on the same block, which is where we are now and which I prefer (see my review). For a few extra pesos you get a lot more here, and availability seems to be better.
