Guest Reviews
- KaJawDaw (10/5): To be recommended! - Actually everything:) the room in the centre, the small terrace on the roof and the restaurant at the entrance with delicious food!! And the hosts who are so welcoming and helpful :)) --
- Robert (10/5): Excellent Location in the middle of the excitement - Excellent Location for old town everything you need Just remember you are in the middle of old town so expect noise if you want an early night stay out of old town
- Dariusz (10/5): - Super lokalizacja, zaprzyjaźniona restauracja na dole, uroczy taras na dachu, bardzo dobry kontakt.
- Graeme (8/5): Good value, great staff and a good location in old town Dubrovnik. - The location inside the old city walls was perfect. There was no noise from the streets at night even with the windows open. The staff we met were very helpful and the driver provided for transfers to/from the airport was one of the best for information on things to do. This property is excellent value for money in the old town. The room was simple but comfortable. No complaints.
- Valentina (10/5): Perfect stay! - Everything! The host was very nice, she and her son took the time to recommend us places, offer us a transfer to the airport and on our last day since our flight was late at night, she was very accommodating with us! The room was very clean, nice and had a perfect location. On the last floor there was a very nice terrace you could enjoy at any time. Will totally recommend this place or stay here again if I come back. Nothing
- Radovic (10/5): - everything was excellent, the staff and the location and everything
- Marina (10/5): -
- Ivana (10/5): -
- Mark (2/5): - Door handles was broken and took several attempts by property to fix! Had to ask for clean towels. Bedding was not charged daily. Small accommodations and very poor service. Definitely would not recommend this place to anyone!!
- Rafal (9/5): -
- Ruth Corinna (10/5): Perfect stay with optimal support. Not a bargain but value for money. - Nice Apartment with Access to a wonderful Room terrace. Perfect location in the middle of old town. Nice landlords, responsive within less than 24 hours, also arranging Airport transfer (extra cost) and help with luggage. I can recommend this.
- Mary Grace (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at the Roko house. Very convenient location in Old Town Dubrovnik- near the Pile gate and near everything. The walk from the Pile gate to Roko house is not bad, the only stairs you’ll encounter is inside the apartment building. You get 20% off if you eat at their restaurant downstairs and the food and staff were amazing. Ljerka is helpful and accommodating, she gave us tips on where to eat and how to get around. No daily housekeeping but they provided us with clean towels everyday. The rooms are small but as expected as it’s inside old town but beware if you have large suitcases as you’ll have to move things around inside the room and be creative with the luggage’s. Room is clean, ac in good working condition and high water pressure. Highly recommend if staying in old town! Thank you Ljerka and Christine!
- Paul (10/5): - Great location. Good amount of space. Terrace was nice.
- Elke (10/5): Optimale Betreuung durch Ana! Jeder unserer Wünsche wurde erfüllt - Zentrale Lage Sauberkeit(Haarbüschel hinter dem Nachtkasterl)
- Philip (10/5): - Beautiful little apartment in one of the most convenient parts of the old town, 2 minutes walk inside the main gate. Nicely furnished, great aircon, and good communication with the lady who gave us the keys. It is directly above and opposite restaurants on a side street but surprisingly quiet anyway - the double glazing is very effective.
- Ronald (1/5): Terrible, ripoff and decieved. - Not a thing. We were given a room I did not book. Was the size of a closet, manager promised to switch room but then said she couldn’t. Never given fresh towels, emptied trash, even soap in 3 days !! Will contact Booking.com and also my credit card company . Disgrace.
- Douglas (8/5): - The property is located on top of a lovely restaurant. If you need anything you have to ask the staff to call the property manager. The response time is very good and staff at the restaurant are fantastic!
- VALERIE (9/5): -
- Miriam (8/5): Very good option for your stay in Dubrovnik! - Communication before arrival was really efficient, so I had no doubts when arriving at the destination. Ljerka met me at the apartment, explained everything, and gave me some ideas of things to do in the city. The room was clean and nice, and it had everything I needed, including a fridge and a hair dryer. There was also access to the small terrace with a nice view over the roofs of Dubrovnik. I used it in the mornings for my morning exercises. The entrance of the accommodation is the same as the restaurant underneath it. That means that you can hear the radio when they are still working there. Luckily, there are rules in Dubrovnik not to be loud after 11:30, but if you have to get up early the next day, it can be complicated.
Also, in general, the people in the restaurants all over Dubrovnik start working very early (talking about between 4 and 6), so you can hear the trashcans getting taken out at that time.
- Sarah (8/5): -
Aire acondicionado
- Sultan Asif (8/5): -
- Jahnu (9/5): -
- Kuçi (7/5): Good -
- L (7/5): Pretty apartment but loud neighbourhood and not enough amenities - Brilliant location. You’re literally inside Dubrovnik old town and it’s the best place to stay. You’re also not climbing several stairs to get to this apartment as it’s within the ground floor of the old town.
This was a last minute booking because our other booking was cancelled two days before and we were stuck for somewhere to stay. It was really unfortunate.
However, everything happens for a reason and we ended up in a lovely apartment. It is just one double bed and small studio apartment.
But it was really clean and decorated very nicely. The restaurant downstairs (Nico’s pizzeria) was fantastic! Highly recommend the food.
Our host Ljerka was so so lovely! On our first day she met and greeted us, showed us the room and explained the area. She gave recommendations for food places and places to go and see. We followed her recommendations and were not disappointed at all. I think this will be the problem with any of the apartments in the old town but the noise outside is a huge problem. Especially from Monday to Friday nights, it’s so loud! Difficult to sleep and there isn’t good soundproofing of the rooms. There are single paned windows. You can hear the restaurants downstairs and the bins being dragged and changed in the early mornings. Suffice to say, we didn’t sleep well during the nights and I am unfortunately a very light sleeper.
The kitchen is tiny and lots of basic cutlery is missing. Not enough spoons, forks or knives, no cereal bowls. Little things would have made the stay more comfortable.
The shower pressure is great but the door doesn’t close fully and so the floor ended up soaking wet!! We had to use towels after towels to dry the floor which wasn’t ideal. There’s no laundry basket to put the dirty towels in so we ended up leaving outside the door. I would suggest having one.
More door hooks to hang up jackets and towels would have been good. I think a sofa with a small coffee table is better than the chairs and table. It takes up so much space and we ended up just dumping things on the table.
The kitchen area doesn’t have enough plugs so the kettle needs to be used quite dangerously. For a few nights stay, it’ll be fine but anything more than 2 days would be difficult here.
Best thing is the location and there is grand parking Dubrovnik, 5 minutes Uber ride away do you could leave your car there if you have one. We kept our car to travel outside of Croatia to Bosnia and Montenegro.
- Charl (9/5): Home in the heart of Dubrovnik - Ljerka, our host went to great lengths to settle us comfortably. She allowed us to stay on in one room after check out, so our grandchildren could nap. The room was not booked for the night, and she made allowance. Also Christina at the restaurant of Roko House was great: friendly and helpful, yet firm. We were a family of 12 and stayed in all six rooms, had a great breakfast on the roof top as well. Highly recommend these apartments and rooms for its great location as well as staff. Bolognaise ragu was my favorite at the restaurant. The shower is small. But understandable in the center of old town.
- Hilda (10/5): Ljerka was great host! - Location Uncomfortable for big luggage
- Gianmarco (9/5): Superb -
- Kevin (9/5): Excellent stay in Old Town Dubrovnik - A compact but beautifully prepared apartment. Bed was very comfortable.
The host arranged airport transfers, someone to meet us to show us around the apartment and contact with a tour guide - all superb and excellent value The bathroom floor flooded when using the shower . I suspect the door seal was not working properly
It would have been an added bonus if the toiletries supplied had been of a higher quality (separate shampoos, conditioner and shower gel from a quality range)
- Justin (7/5): Good -
- Richard (10/5): - We met the owner on arrival on time. We were walked to our room and provided with lots of advice and guidance regards services, eateries, sight's to see. All in all a great host and accommodation meeting our needs.
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maree (9/5): Superb -
- Ralph (8/5): Perfect location for exploring old Dubrovnik - No breakfast provided but suitable restaurants nearby.. Having to climb 3 flights of narrow stairs with luggage.
- Natalia (10/5): Clean, super comfortable, and excellent location. - It was very well located, check-in and check-out were very easy. Clean and comfortable. It’s a little outdated but it’s definitely not a deterrent.
- Leslie (10/5): Exceptional - Clean comfortable room with modern bathroom. Equipped with tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge.
Use of a cute rooftop terrace that we had virtual sole use of.
Perfect for a short break. The room although beautiful was a little on the small side.
- Richard (10/5): I loved my stay at ROKO. I will stay there again. - Location was great and the host was so patient with me because i couldn't find the place. I'm very gratful
- Leomir (10/5): - The perfect location. Near everything.
- Martin (8/5): Very good - Great location, close to Pile gate for access and in the the flat part of the old town surrounded by good restaurants. The room was tiny and the double bed against the wall so only a bedside table on one side. You could barely turn around in the bathroom
- Michael (10/5): - In the heart of old town almost everything you can want is in walking distance
- Paul (8/5): - Hotel was a little hard to find with only a small sign on a door into a restaurant but this is the standard. Large signs would spoil the atmosphere. Roof top patio was great. Only problem was that we were told at checkout time we could only pay in cash
- Richard (10/5): - The Roko has all the character of a small boutique hotel. The staff did a great welcoming us for a five-night stay. Erica pointed out the best places to see first, which set us up for great time. Cleanliness was up to standard. Would I recommend to our most discerning friends? Yes.
- Diane (10/5): Wonderful Old Dubrovnik. - In the pedestrian sold town but easy to reach from Pile Gate and Main Street. The rooftop terrace is wonderful. The 30 % discount at the excellent restaurant is much appreciated. Must have excellent mobility to bring suitcases and take them upstairs.
- Daniel (9/5): Superb - Location is excellent. Small and a little noise from the street, but definitely a good base of operation if you want to explore town for a day or two.
- Aimee (8/5): Great for a quick night in Dubrovnik. Would 100% stay again!! - Great location! Beautiful room. Had everything we needed for a short stay!
- Richard (8/5): Ideal location. - An ideal location and the room was very nicely decorated. The roof terrace was amazing. The room was very small though just manageable. I found it noisy at night with general street and plumbing nose.
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast not included. Location superb
- Ana (10/5): Absolutely fantastic location, staff at restaurant were great, I loved my room and the rooftop terrace! Highly recommend - Location, balcony, room.
- Evelyn (10/5): Perfect Stay - The location was perfect in Old Town, close to everything and one of the main gates as well. The apartment was well equipped with everything needed. The restaurants in both streets were fantastic for breakfast or dinner. You could watch Amazon Prime video on the tv. Even though we were in first floor, if you are upper then there is no lift, you would need to carry all your luggage up the stairs.
- Jacqueline (7/5): Good - Beautiful location and very central in the middle of the Old town of Dubrovnik. The room was very small and not what was decribed on site. However it did meet our needs for short stay.
- Christina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Edward (10/5): - Roof-top terrace.
- Ann (9/5): really enjoyable - The location was excellent, next to all the attractions but quiet. We particularly liked the rooftop terrace where you could peacefully observe the sun going down and the Old Town gearing up for night and day.
- Joel (6/5): Pleasant - Location was pefect and the terrace was nice. No washing machine, even though it was listed as an included facility. Bed and room were very small. Not much space for luggage.
- Christina (9/5): Superb - Location was super. Apartment was very clean There were no bedside lights for reading.
- Martina (9/5): Superb -
- Mike (8/5): It was ideal for a short break in a very good location. - Location was very good for old town attractions. Roof terrace was very nice in the evenings. It was as advertised, so didn't expect extras like breakfast, coffee making or cooking facilities
- karen (10/5): - This property was in a fantastic location in the old town. The room was lovely, clean and had the essentials in the kitchen area. For us the roof terrace was a definite bonus giving amazing views over the city.
Staff were friendly and helpful with suggestion for local attractions. Communication through expedia chat was very quick.
would highly recommend.
- Steve (8/5): Well looked after - thank you - Location
- Emma (9/5): Superb - Nice room located right in old town. It was great for our 3 night stay in Dubrovnik. Check in process was unclear. We figured it out, but it would have been nice to have a little more information up front.
- Tom (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast n/a. Location is excellent!
- pero (10/5): - it was a beautiful stay at Roko house.
- Rob (8/5): Very good - Good location. Lovely evening on the roof terrace.
- Haneul (10/5): The best place in Dubrovnik! Don't search another one - Beyond expectations! Very kind staff, she even did our laundry for free, the guest will get 20% discount for the restaurant in the same building which always some people are eating there, seems like they have nice foods. "The room condition was very nice!" I personally can't wash myself when the bathroom is not nice. There is hair dryer in the toilet. Everything is 2-7mins away from you. Sometimes we just go back to our room just to use toilet or rest 30mins whatever because it's close to touristic place but also quiet at night. "Amazing location", you can keep your luggage after check out so kind. Nothing to be honest no complaints at all. Just be noted that there is no 24h reception as it's apartment not hostel, hotel. You can check in from 10am. And if you wanna use 20% discount and eat at the restaurant down, they open at 12pm! Everything was perfect this place we even wanted to extend but it was fully booked for the next day.
- Rhiannon (10/5): - This was a wonderful haven of peace in a very beautiful but very busy area. Everything was very clean and comfortable and it was great having the studio as it gave us space to eat there if we wanted. The restaurant at the bottom of the stairs was great too. Brilliant location, right in the heart of the old city.
- Sarah (10/5): Beautiful room with stunning rooftop terrace view - The room was nice, clean and in a very good location. The host contacted us on the day to confirm what time we were arriving and ensured that her nephew was there to greet us and show us the room.
There is a restaurant on the ground level and we were offered 20% off meals due to being guests. The food is phenomenal. I wish I had more hours in the day to eat more meals there. They also did up a cheese plate for us one evening to eat on the rooftop terrace.
The location of the accommodation is very easy to find and right inside the city walls but out of the busy crowded main streets. There are no stairs to get there but the rooms are up a flight of stairs which is very normal for accommodation places in Croatia in towns.
I would highly recommend booking this accommodation, mainly for the terrace. We got to see the most beautiful sunset while enjoying wine and cheese. A lot of other places we were considering booking had a balcony or a view out of the window of the wall, but where much more expensive or the location was not as great.
- 919pts (10/5): 5/5 experience, This is an excellent place to stay in Dubrovnik. - 1) Roko house on loistavalla sojijainnilla lähellä Pile gatea, joten sinun ei tarvitse kantaa matkatavaroita alas linnan portaita. Se on kävelyetäisyydellä kaikista päänähtävyyksistä.
2) Henkilökunta on erittäin ystävällistä ja avuliasta. Kaikki sujui loistavasti.
3) Rokossa on oma ravintola ja sen lähistöllä on useita hyviä ravintoloita
4) Roko on tyylikäs ja tilava pariskunnalle. Tuntuu kuin asuisit linnassa, koska käytännössä asutkin! 😁
_____________________________________________
1) Roko house is on a fantastic location near pile gate near all main attractions
2) The staff is very friendly and helpful people
3) Roko house has a restaurant of it's own and it's surrounded by other great restaurants.
4) Roko house looks great and it has enough space for a couple.
- Lisa (7/5): Small but comfortable stay for 2 nights - Property is in an excellent location, plenty of restaurant options downstairs, good air conditioning, comfortable bed, A washing machine is listed as one of the property’s facilities but that is incorrect. Hot water was hit and miss.
- Ruth (9/5): Nice location and room -
- Jas (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location and great facilities.
Also a gorgeous apartment. It was perfect!
- Scott (8/5): - Excellent location. Highly recommended. Only reason it wasn’t a 5 was dragging luggage up 3 flights of narrow stairs. But don’t let be a deterrent.
- JUAN (4/5): - Only good thing was the location. Extremely expensive for the conditions of the property.
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lucian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pitt (10/5): Accom was clean and welcoming. Restaurant staff below the accom were AMAZING and helpful on all areas. - Locations and room was very clean.
- Niall (8/5): Very good -
- Piret (10/5): Very good location. Helpful staff, they even gave us instructions on which sights to see. - Location is very good, the apartment is located in old town. The apartment is owned by the vine shop/cafe on the first floor. The staff were able to help us when we had any questions. We would liked to have two separated sheets/blankets.
- Alaina (4/5): - Room is extremely small, way overpriced for size, bathroom is tiny, have to share stairs with restaurant which makes it hard to go up and down. Room was extremely warm, never cooled below 22 C. Made us pay cash when that was never communicated and ended up costing us more money
- hoda (6/5): - good location close to everything but the property is outdated and nothing offered beside toilet papers.
- Jody (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (7/5): Lovely stay in centre of Old Town - Location was brilliant right in middle of old town The stone windy stairs were not good especially with large suitcases and although there was a lovely roof terrace it was 4 flights up.
Also there should be a hand rail going up the stairs to make this a bit easier
- Hope (7/5): Pleasant stay, great to get a discount from the restaurant below - Good location, friendly staff from the restaurant below The room is very small, there isn’t a washing machine in the room, you must drop off to the house keeper and then she leaves them on the roof to try. No drying rack
- Deni (8/5): Very good - Location, terrace (shared) Basic things missing - e.g., glasses - I asked but did not get them, toliet paper on every floor on the staircase. Terrace full of drying clothes.
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional - Venue and access to the old city were amazing. To be in the walled city enabled complete access with a two minute walk back at any time. We felt we had given the city a complete visit without the stress off driving in and out. The crowds were heavy at times. This should be expected and compounded when the cruise ships are in. If this is a problem for you, it's best not to go. The venue had tight, steep stairs. It is difficult to negotiate with a case. As a protected world heritage site, you have to accept and plan for this. Travel light.
- Rachael (9/5): Superb -
- Rebecca (8/5): A nice one-night stay in the middle of old town - We stayed for one night in mid-June. Hosts were very responsive and our (self) check in was very straight forward. The room itself is reasonably small, but it's comfortable, in a good location and good value for money we thought. We didn't notice any noise from the restaurants on the street. We weren't expecting these, but just noting there were no facilities in our room (tea/coffee, mugs/glasses, shampoo, etc)
- John (6/5): Pleasant - 1 cup I plate
- Charles (10/5): - It was small but very clean and decorated nicely. It is really fun to stay right in the heart of the old city. We noticed that some similar apartments were located WAY up on the old streets, which would make coming and going very arduous. The only staircase involved at this property is the indoor staircase, so it was quite manageable for us.
- Anthony (9/5): Good value - Wonderful location
Good facilities with mini fridge AC-Heating
Friendly staff
And good discounts for food and beverage in the Italian restaurant below . The room had the bed against one wall and only had 2m of space at the end and on the side…
So the room is a bit tight… But okay for a few nights!
- Gareth (8/5): Superb location - The Location was perfect
The room was lovely and spotless The only downside there wasn't any facilities for tea and coffee
- David (8/5): Very good - Location. Central. Facilities around. Very busy. Toomanyvtour groups.
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - Located right inside old town. Fantastic roof terrace Location means you have to carry luggage a fair way from the taxi stop off.
Not much space in the room
- Lachlan (8/5): Great small room in an incredible location - Perfect location right in the middle of the old town. Shared rooftop terrace was a great addition. Host was lovely and all staff were very friendly The room is quite small, can be difficult with two people with suitcases.
- Peter (8/5): Great location - The location was fantastic. Right in the old town and we didn't have to climb any steps. The equipment was minimal. We had to ask for wine glasses.
- Ella (9/5): Superb -
- Graham (8/5): We had a nice stay at Roko house , still not sure why we had to be moved on the first night . We were well looked after. - The update terrace
