Guest Reviews
- XAVIER (2/5): - Rien Hotel mal entretenu
- Jose (7/5): - Acogedor, limpio El desayuno poca variedad y cantidad

- SERGE (7/5): -
- Mark (7/5): - The location and staff were good, che k in was good. The bed was supposed to be a queen but was only 2 twin beds pushed together. Bathroom needs up grade.
- Kim (7/5): - Views across the town. Staff. Location. No fan in the room. No drinking water and glass in the room. No refrigerator. Only one clothes peg in closet.
- Gaston (10/5): - buen desayuno, muy buena ubicación y atención
- Olivotto (8/5): -

- Diego (6/5): - Bom local para ficar, linda vista do lago

- Hua (10/5): - Beautiful hotel on the hill with the view of Lake Argentina. Very friendly staff and dog Mora. We enjoyed our stay.
- carl (8/5): - Exeptional views on the front side.
- Travis (6/5): Average at best - It’s a fair price but you’re paying for what you get as the saying goes. Below average Wi-Fi, stained towels, noisy you can hear everything in hallways and neighbors. The water in the shower goes in and out while using it (you pray it comes back on after lathering up lol) The worst was I stayed another night and payed the property and they supposedly don’t have card payment so I had to walk an hr to find a place to get cash to pay. C’mon now you have to have card payment in 2023! Also told they didn’t have more rooms for more nights when clearly it was half empty…. For a little more money you can find a better property.
- Tarmo (8/5): - A relatively new, clean and well kept establishment about 1 km uphill from the main street. Interesting layout of the building, cozy sitting places on each floor. Friendly and helpful staff, acceptable breakfast and reasonably priced restaurant-like dinner option. The administration is clearly wishing to minimize noise level in the building. Own car parking space. A good option for a sta for travelers with a car.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Preis/Leistung stimmt. Frühstück mit Ei, Schinken und Käse neben Süßem. Tolle Sicht auf den See.
Prima colazione insufficiente. Stato generale dell'hotel è buono, personale gradevole
- liliana ester (10/5): Feliz... - Excelente hotel...recomendable.
- Mirtasue (4/5): The information provided in the website and by Priceline is incorrect - Priceline indicated the hotel had airport transfer available. When we called to make arrangements we were told the hotel has never (in 16 years) provided a transfer. The hotel website says they have a mini spa. When we asked for information about the spa we were told they have "one bedroom" for additional cost which had a hot tub but we could not see it because it was being used. The truth is there is no spa. The "continental buffet" is poor. Every day the same food. The worse part of the part of the stay was the fact the owners manage the hotel and they are not friendly, borderline rude. The rest of the staff at the hotel were very nice and helpful.
- 927luizs (6/5): Lack of Flexibility - Kelta is 15 minute away from downtown (by foot), including a 5 minute walk in a upstream street to reach it in the upper side of the city. It’s not a big issue, but people who has walking constrains shall use a car to get there, or prefer a closer option. Room is ok, clean sheets but it does not have a frigobar/minibar if you wanna keep your sandwiches fresh for the tours you may want to do around the city. That tours usually does not include lunch, and the food in those tourist places use to be expensive… so people normally take their own snacks. Anyway, the hotel can provide you some snack, if you order it until the previous night. Bathroom has clean towels (changed everyday) and a good shower. Wifi is ok and the lady in the front desk was very kind when offered electric adapters that could match their outlets with our phones chargers. But despite the strongs and weaks, what we still remember is that we took a champagne to the hotel to celebrate the New Year and had to use the glasses from the bathroom… That night, there were some people drinking and having a cheerful conversation, including the hotel owner. We asked him to borrow us 6 glasses for a toast with the family and he simply said that the kitchen was closed. Very ungraceful!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent experience, the staff were truly outstanding and helped us immensely with our stay and with recomendations on things to do in the area. A unique hotel with a cool quirky vibe that is worth checking out. And the views are spectacular!
- 610sridharp (10/5): Nice & Comfortable Stay - We travelled with two young kids and stayed in Kelta for 4 days (3 nights) in last week of December 2015. We found the stay nice and comfortable with staff very friendly. In particular, Carla was very helpful as she was able to accommodate for our special meal requests. Breakfast was nice and with couple of good lunch box options, we were able to pack lunch for our day trips. Hotel is just a 20 minutes walk from main street so was very accessible except for some part of the walk being uphill. Room was comfortable and the view outside was spectacular
- PyrlNL (6/5): Friendly staff, but the rooms are falling apart.. - The hotel lobby looks nice, the outside from a distance as well, but the rooms are disintegrating. Heaters are not functioning any more, water is leaking, electricity is dangerous, blankets filthy etc. This is a pity, because the staff is really friendly and helpful and the breakfast is good! If they invest in the rooms it would be a great hotel!
- monica771 (8/5): Lovely lovely hotel - I stayed in this lovely hotel in March, the room where I stayed was vintage and cute. The owners of the hotel are absolutely adorable and friendly and the food is very good! . I hope to go there again one day.
Send a lots of regards
Monica (la italiana :) )
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice hotel with great staff and near to the shopping area and restaurants
- Ania15Ania (8/5): Nice, quiet place with friendly staff - Kelta is unpretentious, decent, homely place to stay. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Meals delicous. Staff friendly and helpful. It's a bit far from city center (about 15 minutes walking), but if you don't like walking, there are taxis in the town, so it should not be a problem.
- Ivo (4/5): I hope they will get their mojo back - The hotel felt being really tired and overall unwelcomy. A lot of signs everywhere to impose rules a bit out of touch. The room was out of the late 70's, without the glamour of this decade, and probably never renovated afterwards. The potential is there, because the building is nice but convenient with a car, because not central.
- AndyH74 (6/5): Recommended with some reservations - As other reviewers have mentioned, there are pluses and minuses to this place. Among the minuses I experienced was the location - it's a bit of a trek up the hill from the main town, nothing too bad but if you eat or drink anywhere north or east of the main strip (Libertador) you'll be faced with a 20 minute walk back to your room. Also, the radiator on my room was blazing away despite it being unseasonably warm in Calafate this week, and although they did "turn it down" I basically slept with the window open throughout my stay - fortunately there are no bugs on the pampas! Finally, the breakfast is merely adequate and somewhat spartan, no more than adequate - though you will probably be out the door before 7:30 for your excursions so that doesn't really matter so much.
The pluses: the room itself was very clean and the bathroom spotless. Decent view from the upper rooms. Excellent and solicitous service from the attentive staff - very little English spoken, but they made me understand! Strong wifi in the common areas, but not in the rooms - irritating but not uncommon in this price range or part of the world. They had a nice little trick of sticking messages on the back of your room key every evening detailing your pick-up time the following morning if you have booked a tour.
I would stay again, but I could wish it just a block or two closer to the main drag.
- Blancopop (8/5): Comfortable stay in El Calafate - This is a basic but very nice B&B. The staff is warm and friendly and the breakfast is simple but good. Rooms are fine and view over the city is lovely. It is uphill to get there so only choose it if you don't mind exercising your legs. WiFi works very well in all the common areas. For a B&B I was very statisfied with our stay and it was good value for money. Recommendable!
- 210jebs (8/5): Excellent service, knowledgable staff - I've been to El Calafate at least 8 times. I'm not sure what others were expecting, but the staff were friendly, and went out of their way to help. I know when I stay there between photography trips into the mountains that I can some excellent rest. It goes with the territory that there will be dogs and noisy vehnicles passing on the road below. I've rarely found places in towns where there isn't a noise problem, unless sequestered in an expensive hotel. The solution is simple, I use earplugs, as I have found barking dogs and traffic is often common in many South American communities. So it simply didn't bother me. I've gotten to know the staff well and they been an incredible source of help and advise. In particular Carla, Lucas, Pablo and Sol helped me solve a myriad of small and large problems. The bus station is downhill about a 1/4-1/3 of a mile away, while downtown is a few hundred yards directly below the bus station. Would I stay there again? I think my 8 times says yes. I don't mind walking and I'm 64. There are stairs and no elevator, but even with my old knees that is not a problem. Stay healthy by using stairs!
While the breakfast is limited, it is more than many continental breakfasts in the states.
For changing currency, there are a couple of places on the main street. ALWAYS check the times.
- Yeti photographer (10/5): Superb Service - They made my stay pleasant and were extremely helpful in all aspects. Because of that I have chosen to stay here on each of my many visits to El Calafate (8 times). They are friendly, helpful with all types of information and bookings. Only about a 1/4 mile from the Bus terminal, and a just a bit further from downtown, an easy walk. The staff, especially Carla, Lucas, Paul and Sol were incredible in their friendly and help. Rooms were clean, hot water was great, areas to relax were quiet comfortable and breakfast was excellent. A great place to stay.
- PradeepM121 (6/5): Hotels in Argentina - We did not find this hotel very comfortable . First , the access was after a long climb on foot . The rooms were very small , irregular in shape as if drawn out of corners . Breakfast was quite ordinary. The town itself had very few Cambios for changing currency into pesos , and the rates were quite adverse to what we got either at Bariloche or at Buenos Aires . Hot water supply was a problem on the first day .
If we go again, we would look at other options .
- Leena548 (2/5): An error - If you can avoid, choose another place to stay while in El Calafate. We were very disappointed firstly because the room was so very noisy. You could hear the cars coming in and going out all night long.
The service we received was very bad indeed, we nearly missed our excursion to the all glaciers tour with the boat, because the reception did not make the reservation for a pick up. We were told that everything was done and also told us just to wait in the reception hall, but it was all wrong. Luckily, we run fast.
Talking about running, the hotel is NOT situated in the city center but up the hill. It is fairly easy to go to the town (downhill)... coming back is another story....
Last thing, the breakfast was an absolute catastrophe...it is not event worth to talk about...
- Jeb (8/5): Helpful Staff - The owners and staff were very helpful. Carla was exceptional. I would definitely stay here again.
- anarbel (4/5): Disappointment - Very noisy rooms with outside noise from cars, buses, errant dogs. Poor service at reception when attended. Very limted food and choice for breakfast.don't hesitate to bring your own food. No elevator. Not conveniently located.
- Neil (8/5): Good value hotel. - The Kelta was a comfortable clean hotel. The hotel is bright with nice comfortable lounging spaces on each floor. The staff were very helpful and, although only Carla spoke English, the rest were willing to try to help with our limited Spanish.
The box lunches were good for a day of hiking. Laundry services were good and reasonably priced.
My only disappointment was that the breakfast coffee was not good. The only bad coffee we have had in Argentina. A small concern given the otherwise excellent facility.
Overall we had a very good stay at the Kelta.
