• Minor (7/5): My stay was comfortable. - The location was perfect. Right next to a church, Times Square, Train Station, Theater (Radio City up the block), lots of places to eat. The room had no view (a wall) and rug had a hole in it.

• Stephanie (10/5): Personnel de l'hotel incroyable et aux petits soins - à deux pas de Times Square - L'emplacement est parfait pour les shows sur Broadway et à coté de Times square, il est aussi très central et permet de faire beaucop de choses à pied. Le personnel est incroyable et vraiment gentil. Les serveurs du rooftop ont toujours un mot sympatique à dire et certains se souviennent de vous et de conversations ce qui rend encore l'expérience plus personnelle et geniale. Petit déjeuné assez basique

Todo estuvo muy bien, solo que se debe tener en cuenta que está literal a media cuadra de Times Square entonces el acceso de taxis hasta la puerta es complicado. Sin embargo se resuelve simplemente pidiendo que te dejen en la 6ta con la 47st. Y caminas media cuadra.

• Monica (3/5): A few deal breakers - Stay was fine overall, but two policies were significant negatives for me. First, there is no coffee maker in the room. Complimentary coffee is available near the front desk later in the day/evening, but removed in the morning and guests are directed to the rooftop breakfast area, where coffee requires purchasing the $25 breakfast. Morning coffee should be a basic amenity for hotel guests, and this was a major disappointment. Second, the $25 room credit can be used for dinner, but not for breakfast the following morning. If unused the night of your stay, the credit effectively expires for many guests. With so many hotel options in New York City, these policies would make me choose to stay elsewhere in the future.
• Pam (7/5): Loved the location, hated the elevator and restaurant noise every morning at 5am. - Our room was next to the elevator and the noise was awful. And around 5am every morning, we were awaken by moving tables or chairs in the restaurant...not good.
• Iris (10/5): Relaxing Oasis - Felt very comfortable. Staff was very friendly and eager to please. Would definitely stay again for the small boutique feel. Everyone that we encountered was very professional and accommodating. Rooms were totally clean thanks to Edna. Old hotel with too much noise sometimes in our hallway. I don't think that can be avoided unless they soundproof the rooms. Otherwise mostly quiet.

Lovely staff, great venue - The location was absolutely perfect - close to everything you need to see and so convenient! Loved the Rooftop Bar and the $25 allowance to use each day as well as the happy hour which really made us feel welcome and part of the family! The rooms are pretty small but as we didn’t spend much time in the room, it was okay.

When I checked out and paid - all good. Then additional payments came off my card. I went back to the hotel to check what they were. Reception had no idea. I still don’t know what they were for.

• 82fd848d3dd47370d4cd044d1762e283 (8/5): - The entire hotel, including the room was absolutely beautiful. Their staff were friendly down to the bartender and bellboy. The hotel was extremely clean and smelled amazing. Entering the building, you enter in through two giant gold and double doors which literally feels like you're walking through a portal into a different space. It is easy to forget that you are inside busy Manhattan once you walk through the doors. They had complimentary coffee and tea in the front lobby with super comfortable couches to wait on. When we arrived our room was not ready. However, the staff recommended if we were willing to, they could actually move our room to a better floor where we wouldn't hear as much traffic. They were more than willing to hold our bags before and after check in/out The room was small.

• Rosalyn (8/5): Comfortable, cozy and an excellent location - Great staff that made it very easy check in and check out. We had to leave for an early flight, and the front desk prebooked a taxi for us at a fixed rate. The beds were very comfortable and there was very little noise from the street. I actually got a great sleep! The rooftop restaurant had wonderful food and atmosphere, and it was easy to access as a guest in the hotel. The location is just off of times square, making it an excellent base to see plays on Broadway! Main light in the room wouldn't turn on, but there were enough desk lamps to compensate. Our room faced onto the back alley which wasn't a problem for us since we were out and about a lot but wasn't a great view of the city.

• FlyingGardenGuy (4/5): Charged twice for fees....nice location and touches...but questionable fire escapes - It's difficult to recommend this hotel. The check in was a DISASTER! I had plenty of confirmation that I had already paid for fees and taxes. They charged me AGAIN WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION. The location is excellent, steps away from many of the many sites that make New York wonderful. But in many ways, the hotel is the opposite. It’s VERY dark with most light sources shuttered rather than opened. Lighting is very subdued even ominously dark in many areas. The décor is Asian with leathery dark browns and burnt sienna. It’s a “look”. The hotel appears to be several separate buildings. I could find no central Staircases leading outside. It seems very unsafe on many levels. The rooms are also dark, but with some nice touches. Robes, lots of towels, great bed linens and hands-down the best pillows. The bathroom is an odd set up: it’s part of the sleeping area. There is a curtain that may be drawn, but it’s awkward. The shower is excellent with rainshower head and spray wand. The toilet with separate sink is in an area with a door, but it’s still within the open shower area. Wi-Fi is complementary, but it’s open and unsecured. Anyone nearby has access and can potentially see what you’re doing. They do offer a $25 per room per day F&B credit, but it’s tricky and difficult to use. It CANNOT be carried over or be used on the day of departure. So if you are only staying one day and want to use it for breakfast, you’re out of luck. They also have a complimentary coffee, tea and water station in the lobby. But in the morning, the coffee and tea are moved and, (Surprise! Surprise!), you’re charged for it. If you’re staying 3 days and want to use $75 on the last day, NOPE!
• Régine (10/5): - The staff was soo nice! And brought the luggage into our room and into the taxi. We got a free drink at the rooftop restaurant. The bed was crazy cozy. There was no windows. A bit sad, when you are on the time square. The rooftop makes up for it.

• LiamR729 (6/5): A bit underwhelming. Check your bill - The hotel looked better in the photos. A bit dark and dingy in my opinion. The roof top area seemed basic. The location is excellent for Times Square and many attractions. All of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. You get $25 per day to use in bar/ restuarant. Breakfast is ok, but fairly basic. I would recommend fully checking bill on departure. We had breakfast (for 2) only one day and nothing else. We were told it was $25 each ($50) and after our $25 room credit this should have been $25. Our bill showed Sushi Lab (rooftop) $68.30 & Haven (rooftop) $27.22 ? I questioned this at the time but with the other fees/Taxes/credits, assumed they were correct.

• isabella1908 (10/5): Great experiencs - Excellent location. This was our second visit to New York and we stayed in the much larger Westin last year. This was better for us as it was smaller and my daughter had an issue with the lift in the Westin that put her off. Staff were lovely and accommodating. Room was lovely. It did not have tea or coffee facilities in the room but they can be found at reception free of charge. It can be noisy but this is due to location not the hotel. I do not think ant hotel near Times Square will be quiet. Loved the upstairs bar but be warned the cocktails are lethal. If we go back to New York again we will book this hotel.
• TheRealGelatoGirl (4/5): Dark and unfriendly - I am not too picky, especially of it is only one night…but this was not a great experience. The hotel was dark as dark goes. The room without a window (there was a window but no daylight), and not even a proper door for the bathroom (only a courtain). The “Service fee” of 40 usd that is imposed (you can use 25 iss out of that for good in the hotel but not for breakfast) is really really strange. To add insult to injury jury, the staff at check-in was rude and told me that if I did not like the room I could go somewhere else, but that there would not be any refund…and management was not available to talk. Jose, the manager, who I talked to the next morning, was nice and gave me back the 40 usd as an apology for the rude behaviour of his people, but that does not take away the bad experience…

The told me that I had a room at the front of the hotel which I thought great, that was until the construction started. I know that some thing are out of the hotels control, however they could have told me in advice and offered a side room or room at the back of the building, or worse case some ear plugs.

• U1748TMalessandrab (2/5): Extremely Disappointing Experience - We booked this hotel for a large group trip to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and unfortunately, the experience was far from what the name “Sanctuary” suggests. The stress started at check-in. The rooms were not ready at 3:00 PM, and after waiting, the front desk offered bar credit for the inconvenience. When we tried to use that credit later, it suddenly became a problem. It was met with resistance and a very unfriendly attitude, as if we were asking for something unreasonable instead of what had been promised. Mornings were another issue. Housekeeping begins loudly around 7:00 AM, banging doors repeatedly. Because the hallways are small, they don’t use carts from room to room, but every time they go back to the supply room, the door slams so hard it’s impossible to sleep past 7 AM. For a hotel that calls itself “Sanctuary,” there is very little peace or quiet. Breakfast is $25 per person and absolutely not worth it. Very limited options for that price. On top of that, there is a $50 destination fee. Still, only $25 per day can actually be used, and that’s only if the restaurants are open. Which brings me to the biggest issue: during a massive NYC blizzard, all four of the hotel’s restaurants closed. We are tourists from Florida with no car and canceled flights. We literally could not leave safely. A hotel of that size should make basic accommodations for stranded guests during a weather emergency. Instead, it felt like, “Figure it out yourselves.” With restaurants closed and mini refrigerators in the rooms being extremely small, stocking up wasn’t even realistic. When our flights were canceled, we tried to extend our stay. We were told that only two of our rooms could be extended, and we were jokingly told we should “cuddle.” That was incredibly inappropriate given the situation. When it came time to finalize the extension, the front desk had only one employee dealing with a long line of stressed guests. She was overwhelmed, nearly yelling, and asking people to step away from the desk. It was chaotic. Because the restaurants were closed, we could use the $25 daily destination credit only once during the five-day stay. Again, no flexibility, no accommodation. The final frustration: I accidentally left my Earbuds in the room. The location shows they are still there, charged, and another device keeps pinging the signal. I called at least eight times after realizing it at the airport. The response was simply that nothing was found, and they are not responsible for lost items. While I understand hotels are not liable for forgotten belongings, the complete lack of effort or concern was disappointing. To be fair: The rooms were clean. The bed was comfortable. The location is great The rooftop staff, food, and drinks were excellent. The porters were super nice and helpful Unfortunately, the overall experience, especially the handling of basic guest care during a weather emergency.... overshadowed the positives. For a group trip and a special occasion, this hotel added stress instead of comfort.
• Z1776JIns (10/5): Great Location, Price and Staff - I have stay here before and will say its a great vibe. The roof top bar was wondrful and George at the roof top was so nice. The door man was so personable and helpful. He went out of his way to help us.

Leni, Asmaa, and Derreck made her experience unforgettable by leaving a slice of chocolate cake in the room when we got back. She was over the moon and so were we. The location was convenient, the room was clean, and we had a great night’s sleep. We would definitely stay here again.

• Id0E (10/5): Fantastic stay at the Sanctuary Hotel - I had a fantastic stay at the Sanctuary Hotel in NYC and cannot recommend it enough. The staff truly makes this place special, always warm, smiling, and genuinely eager to help. They went out of their way to accommodate my needs, whether it was arranging a late checkout or helping me switch rooms while balancing both business and personal travel. A special thank you to Asman and Derek, who consistently greeted me with a smile and were always ready to assist with anything I needed. Their professionalism, positive attitude, and attention to detail made a real difference and made me feel truly welcome. This hotel definitely gets it right! Well done.

• Bristolgirl66 (10/5): Fabulous hotel, highly recommend. - This hotel is in a great location just off of Times Square. The staff here are amazing and are only to happy to assist with anything you need. The guys who work on the door assisting with cases, booking taxis etc are amazing, so helpful, friendly and cheerful. Infact everyone who work in the hotel were friendly and cheerful. Jose on the front desk, the manager was lovely and really helpful. Our room was amazing, the bed was so comfortable and it was fab to have a great night's sleep after walking around sightseeing the whole day. Breakfast was buffet style with choices of hot and cold food, which was lovely and was served in the rooftop restaurant. I highly recommend this hotel for its location, hospitality, and comfort. I will definitely stay here again, love it x

• Shari (5/5): Disappointing, but the staff made a huge positive difference in our stay. - We like the decor and the location. Dining on the rooftop was great and the food was delicious. The customer service was superior. Every staff person from the people who help with our luggage, the front desk staff, and managers, especially Jimmy, was very understanding of our situation. They were the saving grace for our stay there. The bar products were good. To make up for the room, Jimmy did not charge us for the bar incidentals. The room was very small for two people-my sister and me. The room didn’t have enough drawer space. The only drawers were the end tables. The desk was very small. A better use for that desk space would have been a vanity with drawers. There were no hooks or adequate towel racks to hang towels and washcloths. The chain lock on the door was broke. Even though we reported it upon arrival, it did not get fixed until the last night we were there. The door did not look like it was closed properly. You could see a gap in the door. We were very disappointed in the room, including the window view.
• Jonathan (4/5): Cheap and convenient location with a lot of asterisk on it - Location is great, super close to Javits, not far from Times Square. The parking associated with it wasn’t great or cheap but was more convenient than that of most hotels in the area. Rooftop bar was very nice, music was way too loud though. First day of booking was canceled due to late arrival even though I called ahead, apparently the message was not properly relaid as I was told it was. Because if this I had to wait half a day after arrival to get into my room. Paper thin walls, could hear every single thing the people in rooms near mine were doing. WiFi was super slow and just straight up didn’t work sometimes. Elevator was broken on my floor and I had to go to a different floor to use the elevator. On my two elevators (1 for half the stay due to maintenance) so there was always a long line to get into crowded elevators. Lobby was always overflowing with people waiting to go on tours or getting into rooms.

• IcecoldPinacolada (8/5): Nice but not perfect - Quirky hotel. Perfectly positioned for Times Square. Half a block walk. Staff very nice. All helpful and polite. This hotel is in the centre of NY so rooms are small and some have limited natural lighting. If you are claustrophobic this hotel isn’t for you. Its corridor light levels are low to enhance the design but it feels like you are underground. If you are going for more than a few days you have to live out of your suitcase because there is only a small wardrobe to hang clothes and nowhere else. The bathroom is integral with an open plan shower, there is a curtain! The light for the lavatory also comes on in the shower so if you get up in the night the whole room is illuminated. Breakfast is advertised as being included on partner sites but when you get there you have to pay a nightly room tax. That’s meant to cover breakfast so you feel you have paid twice for it. You also have to pay a $300 refundable deposit for the room on check in. Breakfast is basic but perfectly adequate. Plenty of cold choices. And scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausages and bacon as hot. I’ve graded this hotel 4/5 due to the location and accommodating staff. I probably wouldn’t book again due to the size of the rooms.
• Julian (2/5): Not financially reliable! - The breakfast and location. My main issue with the hotel is, after agreeing an upgrade cost by email I , they tried to charge me more, when I arrived and when we checked out! Also, I still haven't received the $250 security deposit, 4vweeks gone! Been in touch with the hotel by email, just told me to contact my bank. I've contacted my bank and raised a dispute. The hotel will nit help me retrieve this money, I honestly don't think I will ever see this money! We stayed in another hotel round the corner for one night, the deposit was received the next day! Why is this such an issue with The Sanctuary. Not God enough! If you're going to the Sanctuary, beware!!
