Guest Reviews
- Marion (3/5): -
- Rachel (10/5): Loved it - Location in the middle of Travestere. In the hustle and bustle of a great part of town Be prepared for noise of people having fun or the garbage trucks in the mornings. If you want peace and quiet you won’t enjoy this. If you like being at the heart of things, this is perfect.
- Tracy (2/5): Miserable - Nothing Had to shlep out giant suitcases across 2blocks of cobblestones to get to property located above a loud bar/restaurant so loud until 2 am
- Nicole (7/5): Many positives but many negatives as well. - The apartment was very cute and unique. Great views. Small room with beautiful accents, such as the windows with grape arbors underneath and closet with gorgeous wood. Lively (and loud) neighborhood with tons of restaurants right outside open late into the night. Cool shower. Excellent air conditioner! The outside apartment door is difficult to find, and it is located in the middle of the seating area of a busy restaurant which makes it awkward to arrive or leave if there are people eating, especially if you have your bags. Additionally, and I do not believe this is mentioned on the booking page, the only way to access this room is up 2 flights of extremely narrow, dark, slippery stone stairs. I was alone and had a very heavy large bag to manage. There is not a front desk person you can ask for assistance, although there is a camera with a live feed watching you in the lobby. I was under the impression this was a hotel so I was a little surprised. One final thing- it is loud late into the night (it is a fun, popular neighborhood) so bring earplugs!
- Laura (9/5): Charming terrace in a great location. - The terrace was charming and overlooked a church. It felt private and yet in the heart of it all. The apartment was spacious. The sofa bed was comfortable. A/C worked pretty well. Nice location in a popular location and easy walk to many shops and restaurants. The windows worked well to block out the nightlife noise. The bathroom could use a brighter light by the sink and the main bed mattress was a little uncomfortable.
- Viv (10/5): Hade några fina dagar i Rom och detta rum var ypperlig för vår vistelse, vi kommer gärna tillbaks - Perfekt läge och tyst på rummet fast det var otroligt mycket folk utanför, mitt i Trastevere Inget
- Karley (8/5): Great location, amazing views - The property was a very convenient location.
It was right where all the restaurants were. The view was outstanding! The flights of stairs and it was difficult getting to the room. It was a dark, narrow stair case leading up to the room.
I wasn’t aware there were several bedrooms within the same apartment and I had trouble finding Michelangelo (the name of the room)
Maybe put more signs and install proximity lights in the hallway
Could use a code to get in instead of key.
The beds were also very stiff
- Elin (10/5): -
- Zhanna (9/5): - It is a good place to stay and relax after long walks. The noise from the restaurants was like a lullaby. There is no need for your phone to check for a time since the bell of Santa Maria is reminding you in real time every 15 min. I'm going to miss it. Steep steps. If you are traveling with seniors, don't consider this apartment.
- Giuliana (10/5): -
- Viv (10/5): perfekt - Jätte bra läge mitt i vimlet med tyst i rummet
- Christine (9/5): - The location was excellent and the room was very well appointed with a great balcony.
- Sinead (9/5): Loved it! - Loved the local location, great to have a little balcony, loved a bath! Great apartment and the staff were so helpful and friendly. It is opposite a church and bells go every 15min so if you’re not used to it, need ear plugs ;)
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Teresa (8/5): Good for a one day stay. Liked that there was ac. - No breakfast. Good location. Centrally located. The steep steep stairs.
- Amy (9/5): Superb - Great location Noisy guests in adjacent room.
- Greg (8/5): Very good -
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional - The location is unbeatable! The room was nice, and the AC worked great. I would definitely stay here again.
- Maria (7/5): Good -
- Anonymous (7/5): Good - Nice place, it's an apartment with separate rooms rented out. AC unit is extremely small. I was there at the end of June, Rome is not even at its peak for heat. The ac unit was not able to cool the room whatsoever. July and August will be even worse.
- Dinah (8/5): Very good -
- Kimberly (10/5): Cute Italian Room - We stayed in the Michelangelo room. It was everything you would imagine a place to stay in Italy would be! Beautiful view while standing on the terrace and decorated beautifully on the inside. Highly recommend staying here! There are quite a few stairs to climb with your luggage to reach the room, we didn’t have any problem, but just be aware if you decide to book.
- Michael (2/5): - This was a terrible accommodation. This place should be called “Boarding House Tastevere” rather than “Luxury” Tratevere. What a joke! Once you finally find the entry door, I literally had to reach over someone dining at the restaurant next door to get to the key pad, which turns out I didn’t even need because anyone can just push there way through the door as the lock has been taped shut; then you have to make your way up two flight of steep, narrow and winding steps to the other door with the key pad to let you in. Once I got to my room I had to use the restroom and the first thing I did was kill a cockroach! The place was very stuffy and the AC is set to a permanent slow setting which is basically a very light breeze that takes hours to cool the place. The bed was stiff as a board, 2 doubles pushed together, the pillows were like pancakes, didn’t sleep well at all. On top of this Trastevre is now completely overrun thanks to social media, so if you don’t get earplugs at night good luck trying to sleep. This is a terrible place and not even a great price for what I paid. Go elsewhere!
- Almut (9/5): Superb - There is no breakfast, but there is a common kitchenette with a kettle and fridge. My room was facing the street with restaurants, so there were voices to be heard, but the windows are new and isolate the noise quite a bit.
- Paul (5/5): Noisy - Excellent location to explore but very noisy area. Bells ringing all night, late diners very noisy. Apartment is shared living areas and not self contained. No way of heating up food etc. Advertised as luxury, far from it. Room we had was very cramped and small.
- Con (6/5): Earplugs - The Room, location and service was excellent. But we didn't have earplugs the first night and really needed them. Better the second night when we bought earplugs.
- Muller (5/5): Nice on the surface, not so nice when actually explored in person. - Superficially, the unit was very nice looking and clean. The neighborhood is great, popular and walkable. But quite loud at night. All of the things other reviewers have said stand true:
It is loud at night, even during the off-season. The piazza and the bars below are noisy.
There was no hot water.
There was no staff at any time. When I needed help with luggage, no one was around.
The stairs are very steep. I am a fit person but lugging all of my suitcases was a challenge.
The lock on the outside door (where all the bars are) was broken and didn't lock.
- Ergisa (10/5): Best experience - Everything was good and staff very friendly and kind. Cleanness was absolutely outstanding. Location in the best part of the city. We have to wait a lot for hot water and wasnt very but everything else was perfect
- Julie (10/5): Perfect score for Michelangelo room - Lovely option in Trastevere. We stayed in the Michelangelo room and thoroughly enjoyed the spacious living quarters and outdoor terrace opposite the bell tower of the Basilica di Santa Maria. The property has a lot of cachet and is spotlessly clean. The pictures perfectly matched the reality. You enter the building between two rows of outdoor tables at restaurant la Canonica. The other two rooms on offer are of more modest size but are complemented by the common living room with a comfy leather sofa. The hot water is fine for showering, but it could be warmer for using the tile bathtub. This was of course January.
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Virginia (1/5): Don’t go if you have a suitcase - Location No staff. No help. No elevator. Two huge stairs to go up with suitcases. Would never have booked had I known.
- Melissa (9/5): Superb -
- Francesco (5/5): Not worth the cost. Decent for a one night stay, but should be cheaper - Central Trastevere, perfect to walk around. The room was thoroughly clean. Two very steep and uncomfortable sets of stairs, without elevator, to reach the rooms. Totally not recommended if traveling with more than a backpack. The main entrance door downstairs is literally in between two restaurants, and to enter, ring the bell, and access the property you need to squeeze in between customers dining, sitting at the tables. Often the main door downstairs is left open: I believe the restaurant owners also own one room in the building to store tools and goods. The building per se is nice, ancient, but the rooms are tiny, not well furnished.
- Jem (8/5): Thanks for having us - Excellent location that is very walkable to many areas in the centre of Rome. Interesting entry way and pretty historical rooms Only complaint is the water took a long time to warm up so had to run it a while before using.
- Shiqi (8/5): Very good -
- Trish (10/5): Excellent hosts who helped with restaurant bookings and taxis. Excellent location also. - Amazing location in a lively little street just off the main square. Noisy due to works at the restaurants below us but earplugs sorted us out and we could sleep well.
- Marc (8/5): Very nice small apartment suitable for 2 or 3 people in a perfect location with a great balcony. - View from balcony and bedroom window were very nice. Interior design was very nice too. The decor is a good mix of traditional Roman and modern and the bathroom has a nice ancient Roman feel (mosaics) A bit more effort on the breakfast and a sign warning people about the metal bar above the door between the living space and balcony
- Erick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing hosts. Very helpful. Provided an early check in and was always ready to answer any questions we had. Clean and stylishly decorated. Location was incredible. Thank you!!!
- Andre (10/5): - Perfect spot! Right in the heart of Trastevere! Walk out the door and you are right at the door step of a great restaurant and many others just around the corner. Couldn’t be anymore convenient if you tried. 😁
- Craig (8/5): Very good - Awesome room in a fun location filled with restaurants in bars at a very good price point. Host was great. This neighbourhood is extremely loud, so if late nights and good times are part of your holiday plans it’s perfect. If you plan to go to bed early, pack earplugs. Also, there is no metro train station close by. Taxi to Colosseum between 12 and €20.
- Julia (7/5): Right in the middle of the lively action of Trastevere. - Apartment was right smack dab in the middle of all the action. We arrived on a Saturday evening and had to walk from a parking lot with our bags and could barely walk through the throngs of drinking, young people in the streets. Even with the windows shut, we could not sleep because of the drunk people yelling out in the streets. The apartment is right above a lively restaurant. In fact, you have to squeeze through diners at tables to get to the front door. I wish I had done more research about the location. As stated by the apartment owner, it's not their fault that the location is in the middle of the action so just be aware that this is located in an active area. If you are younger than 30, this location would be perfect. Otherwise, the apartment is clean and you get what you pay for.
- Annelyse (2/5): - I would never stay here again. First we showed up, thinking it was a hotel - it is not. And we had to call the host to get instructions on how to go in. They were not provided beforehand like they should have been.
Next, the room smelled so strongly of odor, it gave us a headache. I contacted the host by phone to tell her this, and she hung up the phone on me and turned her phone off.
It is right above a very good restaurant, but it is extremely loud. Do not stay here unless you want to stay up all night long. Not only is there people out until 3am, the church bell is right outside the window and goes off every 15 minutes - throughout the entire night. We slept maybe 3 hours before having to fly 15 hours home. We had a horrible experience here.
- Melissa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (9/5): Very enjoyable - Well located, neat, clean and maintained.
Staff were very helpful with carrying our bags down the stairs on our departure. The stairs. If you are booked into the top floor, there are 50 narrow high steps to access the room. Carrying bags up was very difficult.
- Iulia (9/5): Great location, good property - The location was incredible, tight in the heart of Trastevere. The balcony was great also. The amenities were not “luxurious”… the suite needs more attention to the details (like the couch for example or the balcony furniture etc) It was kind of comfy but not great.
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - Location and great staff. Easy check in.
- Jason (9/5): We loved this place. Would definately recommend - Awesome location right near the Piazza. The room has double glazed windows so noise is not a problem. We loved hearing the church bells. We walked everywhere. Unfortunately there are very steep stairs to the rooms. Like many places in Italy. Would not suit someone with mobility issues.
- Gwen (7/5): Good - Location and comfy bed Stairs
- Sudie (7/5): Good - We loved the location and the elegant breakfast. The breakfast just was so professional and he made a lovely breakfast experience for us. The room was tired and the toilet and shower need to be replaced.
- Danny (10/5): Great location and well-appointed room - The room was great, good bed, A/C and shower Location in area of village was great but you have to walk between restaurant tables where people are sitting and eating to get to the main door and you actually have to reach over a table and peoples head (had to apologize to people eating there) to push the code numbers into the keypad to open door.
- Sergio (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (8/5): - A small but well appointed room with a very nice bathroom. No staff on site, which I dislike. But for a night or two, it is a nice location for Trastevere.
- Angeliki (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location, in the center of Trastevere, the most beautiful neighborhood in Rome. The room was in an old building, very beautiful, comfortable and clean. The host was kind and helpful, I highly recommend it!
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Timothy (3/5): Kinda like camping… But only worse. - This only thing I liked was the fact that I had a place to sleep. It was very hard to find the direction terrible. You had to go up these murder stairs that were so steep. We never saw any of the people except for the cleaner. This is not a hotel. There was nothing luxurious about it. It is someone’s former apartment. I have traveled all over the world and I’m not a super picky person when it comes to hotels. You should be able to get in and out of the hotel safely. The room should be clean. It was not clean. I’m not even sure that the sheets had been washed. This “ luxurious hotel” is similar to camping, but even worse
I do not recommend staying here.
- Sinouhe (5/5): Passable - Location It's a bit too expensive for what it is... But it's alright, great location.
- Tijana (10/5): Perfect Caravaggio room with colorful window view - First of all, rooms are named after famous Italian artists, I was in Caravaggio room, the view from our window was amazing… When you wake up, you can see how Trastevere is walking up as well, restaurants are opening and you feel like it’s new beginning <3
Second, everything was clean, host was available all the time and very kind.
Third, location is perfect, ofc if you like to stay in Trastevere :)
- Cassandra (8/5): Great for nightlife and restaurants - Good location in the hub of the restaurants. Lovely room and had all we needed. Staff were helpful in organising our car pick-up to the airport. A little far from public transport options and the stairs were a bit of a nightmare with the luggage. Being the car-free zone, be prepared to move luggage across cobblestone streets.
- Divya (4/5): Disappointing -
- CESAR (8/5): - Location is great. The place is cozy and clean. A little bit noisy at night.
- Diana (8/5): Great location, very nice room, helpful staff. - Great location, clean charming room, very spacious. Self entry was very smooth and easy. Daily service.
We were able to leave luggage in reception on our last day which was very helpful. The stairs in are very steep, we were warned about this but it was tricky with one largish bag.
We hung our towels up each day as a signal that we were happy to reuse but we got fresh ones anyway.
- Sofia (10/5): Don't miss this opportunity! - Perfect location! Place definitely worth it! Host super kind and helpful 5 plus stars to this place!
- Ashleigh (7/5): Was great thanks - Great location, good use of kitchen facilities (which is shared with the other rooms), authentic Rome style, air conditioning, quiet. The bed & pillows were not comfortable, we had really poor sleeps all nights
- Sofia (10/5): Don't miss this opportunity! - Perfect location! Place definitely worth it! Host super kind and helpful 5+*
- Lisca (8/5): Very good -
- Diana (9/5): Beautiful stay in the heart of tea eaters. - Perfect location. Easy access. Accommodating staff.
- Kelly (8/5): Very good - Location amongst all the eateries No little extras or information.
- Brandon (6/5): Nothing to brag about, but close to main square - Location near the famous church in Trestavere. We only stayed one night out of convenience before flying back to the states. No parking. Needs to be cleaned, especially the common area. There are hefty 2 flights of steep stairs to the room after entering the building.
- Karla (9/5): Wonderful short stay in an amazing location! - The location is awesome! Right in the middle of all the Trastevere restaurant scene. Easy walk to the ghetto and lots of amazing places to shop and stop for a leisurely drink at outdoor tables. The room is above a great restaurant, which was fine, but kinda noisy. Also, the stairs might be an issue for some. They are steep!
- Deborah (9/5): Superb -
- Vince (8/5): Very good -
- Joe (8/5): Very good - Great location, very helpful staff As noted elsewhere, lots of stairs. Pack two smaller bags rather than one big one if you can. Getting up with our large bag was quite an undertaking but Claudia was a great help with that. Also the noise level from the various restaurants and bars and the 24 hour bell tower at the basilica can take a little getting used to but not enough to detract from the location.
- Hazel (8/5): Very good - Wonderful location, great character and great to have a large walk in wardrobe Can be quite noisy at night, recommend earplugs
- Chiara (7/5): Good - Room was spacious
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrej (7/5): Good -
- Robert (1/5): Disgusting and dirty and a terrible experience which is a shame as it has great potential. - Proximity in Trastevere The cleanliness of the room and lobby were filthy, unsanitised toilet, dust, broken bed lamp dusty-dirty and an electrical hazard , broken bed base, no mattress protector on mattress or pillow protectors, mould growing on leather lounge in lobby. Water bottles in room dirty, Steps are a hazard Re luggage. Breakfast advertised for free at local bar but on arrival told that this was incorrect there is no breakfast provided booking.com have made a mistake. Bedside mats full of hair. Toilet seat is old and yellow and smells of urine the waste bin next to toilet is dirty, soiled nappy in rubbish bin in kitchenette stunk out the whole foyer and kitchen.
The steps are dangerous for the young and elderly. They might be part of the ambience of the building however, but not if you were a solo traveller or an elderly traveller with two suitcases ..the steepness of the steps need to be highlighted in the property description as dangerous for young children and elderly people. Picture above the bed loose in one corner coming away from the wall
- Koontz (9/5): We loved our stay. - I would highly recommend Luxury Trastevere. It was a unique property that showed off everything that is Trastevere. Steps going to rooms. Very steep and narrow.
- Nastassia (10/5): great location and everything you need + good stuff - the location is great. we checked ourselves in - that’s a good option in case things don’t align and this way you don’t have to wait for the stuff to open. it looks like a small apartment that got turned into a multi-room Airbnb. you do need to walk a steep flight of stairs. then you end up in a common area - kitchen and the rooms are around it. the room is tiny but you won’t stay inside that much at all. you are right in the middle of it all and it will get quiet at night. the entrance to the place is right in the middle of the restaurant sitting - so prepare to take some time to find it. I think the bathroom could be a touch cleaner, but I’m also super sensitive.
- Donka (10/5): Authentic location & lovely place in the heart of Trastevere - Everything about the place was lovely. The location, cleanliness, the looks… We had Carravagio room. The room was kind of small but basically more than enough for all that you need for a city break stay. Lovely location just next to Santa Maria basilica, in the heart of Trastevere. Nothing that we didnt like.
- Yoanna (10/5): Pleasure. - Great location.
Great staff.
Cleaning everyday.
Everything was perfect.
And no matter that the hotel is in the heart in Trastevere the rooms were quiet. All was ok.
- Stepan (9/5): It's great place to stay. Specialy in the Michelangelo appartament with terace. - Location in the center of Trastevere and great restaurant just in the front door.
- Nikolaos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angelia (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ilker (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Kim (9/5): Great property - The position Too many stairs😳
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Location was perfect.
- Jeremy (10/5): Perfect location, accommodation and staff. Very good value for money as well. - Absolutely excellent location! The staff are very friendly and helpful also during the pre-stay period as well as at the desk. The accommodation is just beautiful inside, very tastefully done and decorated in the old style but still all the modern facilities are there. I would love to stay there again and also recommend it to everyone. Room cleaning and checkout are rather early, but then I’m not a morning person 😂
- Melo (8/5): Good time and Claudia was very nice - Great location and the room was very cozy. The sheets need to be cleaned without Clorox. The smell can be overwhelming,
- Jerry (4/5): We made do, because there wasn’t enough time to relocate - Location Not a 4 star hotel, as shown on website, but a guest house, up a steep and torturous double staircase. No breakfast.
- Tanya.95 (10/5): Fenomenal place to stay in Rome - I recently had the pleasure of staying at Luxury Trastevere, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. The luxurious accommodations, coupled with exceptional service, made our stay truly memorable. The prime location made exploring the city a breeze, and I can’t wait to return to Luxury Trastevere on my next visit. Highly recommended. Everything was perfect. We loved it.
- Alexander (7/5): Great location and a nice room - The room is great, clean, perfectly located (in midst the noisy Trastevere) and communication excellent and fast, easy check in & out. I am not sure about value for money given the size of the room. We did not enjoy the rather hard mattress and high pillows too much.
- Alex (10/5): Easy access to a very active part of Rome that is teeming with restaurants. - The staff was extremely helpful in helping us with a delayed bag. They were able to call the airline for us and help us communicate what needed to happen. I've very thankful for their help. I think almost everything was great. The door was a little hard to find as there are restaurant tables set up on either side of the entrance. It was also a little loud at night, but that is a result of the centralized location.
- Lisa (8/5): Very good -
- W (8/5): Very good -
- Thomas (6/5): Great location to experience Trastevere - Location Hard to get in, hallway and steps not very welcoming
- Britha (6/5): I was really noisy and loud till the early morning and the church bells started singing in the early morning, so i could - Nice room and lovely staff. Noisy at nights
- Anne (5/5): Probably wouldnt shoes this for myself again, though our memories of staying here are priceless. - The view from our window was cute. The stairs going up are crazy steep. The door code to get in is right where people are sitting outside for dinner so you have to excuse yourself and reach over the dinner guests. We only saw someone working there once in three days. He was very nice, but no one was ever there. The room was relatively clean but older and bathrooms were in need of a little additional cleaning. The location initially appears scary with graffiti everywhere outside, though the locals call it street set, and we got over it, taxi drivers will not drop off right in front. You must walk to the door from the street behind . It was an adventurous place to stay. Stairs are way too Steep entrance during the night hours is awkward to access.
