Guest Reviews
- Robert E (1/5): - The staff was friendly and helpful. This place was dirty. It was like just the floors, bed, and toilet were ever cleaned. The rest was completely ignored. I stayed one night and requested a refund for the remainder of my reservation. The staff were very helpful and accomodating with this request.
- Vanessa (8/5): - Very friendly helpful staff and good location.
- Douglas (8/5): Comfortable hotel in old town. - Location was across from train street in old town. Staff friendly. Room clean.
- Anh (10/5): -
- Freya (10/5): I would recommend it for quick trips - Overall, this hotel works well for a short stay in Hanoi. The central location makes it easy to get around and explore. Rooms are simple and may feel small, but they cover the basics. The staff were friendly and ready to help when needed. It’s not a luxury experience, but it’s practical and convenient. I had a decent time staying here.
- Eva (10/5): I would definitely recommend it - The reception team here were incredibly helpful during my visit. They assisted me in booking trips to places like Ha Giang and Ha Long Bay at reasonable prices. It made planning much easier and more convenient. The hotel is also perfectly located in the Old Town area. Everything you need is nearby. Their support really added value to my stay.
- Taj (10/5): For the price, this hotel offers a decent stay right in the center of Hanoi - If you’re paying a very low rate, your expectations should match that. The rooms are basic and may not have windows, and cleanliness could be improved. However, considering the cost, it’s still acceptable. It’s ideal for budget travelers who prioritize location over comfort. You can’t expect luxury at this price point. It serves its purpose well.
- Lily (10/5): - This hotel is fairly simple and doesn’t offer anything particularly luxurious. However, the location is definitely a strong point. It’s easy to reach many attractions and local spots from here. For travelers who don’t need too many extras, it works well. It’s a practical place to stay for a short trip. The overall experience was decent. Locction really makes up for the simplicity.
- Tom (10/5): Perfect for travelers who prioritize location - The location is one of the biggest highlights of this hotel. It’s right in the center of Hanoi, very close to Train Street and other attractions. Many places are within walking distance, which makes exploring easy. The room itself was on the smaller side, but still comfortable enough. Service was good and staff were attentive. Considering the price, it’s a great deal.
- Andrew (10/5): - The hotel is located very close to all the main points of interest, which is a huge plus. However, my room was quite small and didn’t have a window, which made it feel a bit closed in. On the positive side, the staff were kind and helpful. Service was polite and efficient. It’s a trade-off between comfort and location. Still acceptable for a short stay.
- Phillip (10/5): I truly appreciated their support - What really stood out during my stay was the amazing staff. One team member in particular went above and beyond with helpful recommendations. Thanks to their advice, I discovered some great places around the city. Their friendliness made the stay feel more personal. The location near the Old Quarter is also very convenient.
- Christopher (10/5): I stayed here for a couple of days and had a pleasant experience overall - The hotel is quite basic, but it has everything needed for a comfortable stay. The reception staff were outstanding—very helpful and professional. They made check-in and any requests quick and easy. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. It’s a good choice for a short visit. I would consider staying again.
- Katie (10/5): Overall, I was satisfied with the value - The hotel offers a really good balance between price and location. It’s right in a convenient area, making it easy to explore the city. While the room was quite small, it was still functional for a short stay. For the price, I think it’s a fair deal. It’s a good option if you’re traveling on a budget. You get what you need without spending too much
- Karen (10/5): I would definitely return in the future - Although the hotel photos seem a bit outdated, the actual experience was better than expected. My room was clean and surprisingly quiet, which I really appreciated. Any requests I had were handled quickly by the staff. The front desk team was friendly and efficient. It made the stay smooth and stress-free. The location is also a big advantage.
- Benjamin (8/5): -
- Samuel (10/5): - We booked a room with breakfast and were glad we did. The breakfast was simple, tasty, and filling — exactly what you need to start a day of sightseeing. It may not be luxurious, but it’s fresh and very satisfying.
- Eva (10/5): - The hotel staff are friendly, approachable, and communicate very well in English. They are always ready to help and genuinely care about guests’ comfort. Their positive attitude adds a lot to the overall experience.
- Charlotte (10/5): - This is a lovely small hotel that feels warm and welcoming, almost like a home away from home. The atmosphere is relaxed and personal, making it easy to feel comfortable from the first day. It’s the kind of place where you can truly unwind after exploring the city.
- Alexandra (10/5): - The rooms were clean, well maintained, and smelled fresh upon arrival. I stayed in two different rooms, and both had comfortable beds with different mattress firmness options. While the bathrooms could have been a bit cleaner, they were functional, and the hot water worked well, which met my basic standards.
- Isaac (10/5): - If you’re lucky enough to get a room with a balcony, the experience becomes even more special. From the balcony, you can watch the train pass by, which is truly unforgettable. The rooms smell fresh and clean, and the beds are very comfortable.
- Gemma (10/5): Overall, the comfort level is impressive for the price - This is a really nice place to stay for a night or two while visiting Hanoi. The bed was very comfortable, making it easy to get a good night’s sleep.
- Laura (10/5): - The hotel is located right near Train Street, placing you close to one of Hanoi’s most unique attractions. It’s right in the middle of the action, yet still convenient for exploring the surrounding area. The location is ideal for travelers who want to experience the city’s energy.
- Niamh (10/5): - The staff were excellent throughout my stay. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist. Would I stay here again? Absolutely, For service alone, this place deserves a solid 10 out of 10
- Declan (10/5): For the price, the overall quality is more than satisfying - This hotel offers great value for money, especially considering its convenient location. It’s close to many attractions and easy to get around the city from here.
- Rene (10/5): Perfekt! - One of the the best Hostels I have ever stayed in. Jackson and Michael treat you like a part of their small Hostel Family. I would always come back. Thank you for this great experience.
- Ashton (10/5): The location is absolutely spot-on - The hotel sits right in the heart of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, just steps away from Train Street and close to everything you’d want to explore. Despite being so central, the hotel itself is surprisingly quiet, making it a great base for sightseeing without the usual city noise.
- Hunter (10/5): - We highly recommend booking one of the larger rooms with a balcony, as they feel much brighter and more comfortable. The rooms are well-maintained and nicely set up, offering a relaxing place to unwind after a busy day. Housekeeping comes at different times during the day, so you always return to a clean and tidy room.
- Daniel (10/5): An experience we won’t forget. - We had an unexpected situation during our trip when another hotel booking in Hanoi turned out to be a scam, leaving us without a place to stay late at night. The team here showed incredible kindness and hospitality by offering us a safe place to rest in their restaurant. Their willingness to help during a stressful moment meant more to us than any luxury ever could.
- Brandon (10/5): - The highlight of our stay was without question the staff. From the front desk to the rest of the team, everyone was approachable, kind, and genuinely helpful. Any questions we had were handled quickly and with a smile. It’s rare to find a place where the people make such a strong impression, and this hotel definitely stands out because of them.
- Sophie (10/5): - Our room was simple, clean, and comfortable—exactly what we needed after long days exploring the city. Everything worked smoothly, and we never encountered any issues during our stay. In a busy area, it’s nice to have a place that feels calm and reliable when you return in the evening.
- Mary (10/5): - We’ve stayed at this hotel multiple times over the years, and it has always been a dependable choice in a lively part of the city. Despite the busy surroundings, the stay is consistently comfortable and well-managed
- Audrey (10/5): - The rooms meeting expectations every time, but what truly makes us return is the friendly, familiar welcome from the staff who remember guests and make each visit feel easy and pleasant.
- Gabriel (10/5): I’d happily return and recommend it to anyone visiting Hanoi. - One thing that really stood out was how seriously the team takes feedback. I mentioned a small detail during my stay, and they immediately noted it, thanked me, and assured me it would be fixed. That level of professionalism is hard to find. Thanks to the entire team at Rising Dragon Hotel for such a memorable stay.
- Harvey (10/5): - The only thing I wish had been better was the breakfast selection, as it wasn’t very varied and didn’t offer many options for Korean guests. Still, this small detail didn’t overshadow the overall experience. I truly enjoyed my stay and honestly wish I could have stayed longer. This hotel will definitely be my first choice when I return to Hanoi — thank you to the entire team for such a memorable visit!
- Sebastian (10/5): My check-in here was the best I’ve ever had - Everything was handled smoothly, and the team was incredibly attentive without being overwhelming. They explained everything clearly, offered helpful suggestions, and made me feel like a valued guest from the very first minute. It set such a positive start for my time in Hanoi
- Dean (10/5): My room was spotless and felt practically brand new - The design was modern but still warm and cozy, which made it easy to relax after exploring the city. It’s rare to find a place that balances style and comfort so well, and this hotel really nailed it.
- Harrison (10/5): Everything felt smooth, welcoming, and thoughtfully managed from the moment I arrived - This was the very first hotel I stayed at on my trip, and it instantly set a wonderful tone for the rest of my journey. Even after staying in several other four-star hotels, this one still stands out as one of my favorites
- Josef (10/5): -
- Sophie (10/5): Their hospitality truly made us feel at home - Victor and the team gave us the warmest welcome. From the moment we arrived, they treated us with genuine kindness and care. We first stayed for one night before heading to Sapa, and we were so impressed that we booked another night on our way back
- Ashley (10/5): - Everyone at the hotel was genuinely kind and welcoming, and it really set the tone for my stay. From the moment I arrived, the service felt personal and professional. After traveling from the south to the north of Vietnam, I can honestly say this was the most impressive service I received. The staff clearly care about every guest and consistently go out of their way to make sure your stay is comfortable.
- Ryan (10/5): This hotel offers unbeatable value for money - My room was huge, spotless, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was modern and clean, and every staff member I met was welcoming and helpful. For the price and location, it’s honestly hard to find anything better.
- Alfred (10/5): The service here truly impressed me - Every staff member I interacted with was polite, professional, and attentive without ever feeling intrusive. Check-in was quick, and they consistently made sure I was comfortable throughout my stay. Their warm, genuine approach made a huge difference in how at home I felt.
- Jahangir (8/5): Cosy and great staff - The hotel was a very good location right near train street - can see it from the entrance of the hotel which was great. In the hustle and bustle.
Staff are very helpful at reception for any advise. Toilet was right by the wall so your knees would be at the wall when sat - slightly uncomfortable.
Needed to get my own wall adapter from local shop as no UK plugs
- airene (9/5): It was a birthday gift for myself. I love the serenity while observing the beauty of Ho Kiem lake. - The receptionist is so nice that he offered me a free tour guide around the city. None at all
- Georgina (6/5): - Great location, good sized room It could've been cleaner and the mattress felt very old ..... plus the shower head broke (the holder fell off the wall so the shower head dropped on the floor and snapped off) which was fixed immediately thankfully and it was a very small cost, but was a little frustrating......
- Jonathan (8/5): - Excellent budget hotel in good location easily walkable to the train station. Room was comfortable with great aircon and fridge for keeping drinks cool.
- Benjamin (4/5): Not an ideal place to stay, you'll find better elsewhere in Old Quarter - Right next to train street, central Old Quarter and lots of great cafés nearby! My room was tiny and had no window, there were mushrooms growing out of the bed frame so asked to move and was moved for one night. When told to move again the next morning, the room I was given had barely been cleaned and when asking the receptionist he seemed not to care. I'm not one 2ask for an upgrade or discount but after 2 quite bad room situations it would have been nice to be offered some kind of reprieve. Nowhere near as nice as it seems from photos
- colin (8/5): Really good location directly opposite train street and close to money exchanges - Room was ample staff were very helpful and spoke good English which made booking things really simple First room we booked was very small but upgrade to a room with window for an extra $5 per night and was fine
- Luca (8/5): -
- Cameron (9/5): Superb -
- Deena (8/5): Clos to train street, good value for money - Close proximity to train street, clean, good air con Pre paid airport transfer was slightly late , they appeared to have forgotten to order it
- Roly (9/5): great nights rest in a clean, cosy and comfortable room. - Great place for an overnight stay - very attentive and helpful staff. All good.
- Alison (8/5): Great location base for exploring - Good location for old town Hanoi, coffee and tea in the room, good sized bedroom and private bathroom, friendly helpful staff Nil
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roka (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rafael (10/5): Exceptional - The gentlemen of the reception was very kind and attentive and always willing to help with any questions that i had, the room had a good size, in last floor, there was an elevator but was only able to get to the 7th floor, there was a refrigerator working good, the bathroom had a good size and clean, the location of the Hotel is very centric very close to the famous Train street and had several restaurants to eat around the area very walkable. The noise of the train and people working outside but at night that did not bother me
- Daniele (9/5): Superb -
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Service is excellent but the room needs renovation. The room a bit dark. The bed sheet needs to change new one. Hotel is well located.
- Christina (9/5): At this price , this hotel is a great option for your stay at Hanoi . The reseptionists are a great plus! - It was clean and they offered us free bottles of water, tea and coffee all the days that we stayed there ! The room was a bit small , with only 3 hangers and no shower curtain.
- Adriana (2/5): Not even if they pay you - On a month-long trip to Vietnam, this was the worst hotel we stayed at.
It starts with the description of the superior room which is false, described as 18 m2, it is no more than 10 m2. The walls are filthy!
The description does not say that the room does not have a window and despite being non-smoking, it smells like a dirty ashtray.
A full breakfast is included in the daily rate, in fact there is a menu where you can choose between a few options. As it was a holiday period, the hotel suspended the service, even though it had already been paid. After a lot of discussion with an unfriendly receptionist, who tried to pay a different amount than what was stated on the reception menu, I managed to get a refund of 3U$ per person, the amount the hotel charges for breakfast, when it is not included in the daily rate.
When we woke up, the bathroom was flooded, as the air conditioning drain spilled onto the bathroom floor!
At checkout I suggested to the receptionist that not having a window is essential information and should be included in the room description. He replied that I shouldn't have taken the cheapest room! What I didn't even do, I took the superior one!
The only positive thing was that we only booked for one night!
- Amanda (8/5): I had a wonderful stay here, I am a solo traveller, and needed a break from hostels. I actually stayed here twice betwee - I liked that the property was in a great location, away from the old quarter so not too busy, but right next to the beautiful train street. The air conditioner worked great, the room was clean and the bed was very comfy. I also loved the staff. All were so friendly to me on my stay. I did have issues with the wall plugs next to the bed, and could only charge my phone in the bathroom.
- Rohitkumar (10/5): - Midtown location to enjoy the culture of Vietnam
- Soheila (2/5): - Dålig skick på hotellet speciellt badrummet. Vi bytte hotel efter 2 nätter. Men personalen var väldigt hjälpsamma.
- Wira (8/5): - Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Unpleasant experience with bad smell from a pillow case. But was change upon request.
- kenny (4/5): Disappoiment - Room is noisy, bathroom facility below par, breakfast is below expectation.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Staff replies very soon. There are some unknown dead worms on the ceiling.
- Ingrid (6/5): Affordable location, note on bathroom - Great pillows I must say, so it was a comfy night's sleep. The bathroom in our family room (at level 9) was alright, with the shower area having no partition of any kind, so the water pools around the toilet and sink. Just be wary of that.
The bathroom was kept clean anyways so the issue of water pooling just took me by surprise.
- Verified traveler (4/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): It is a very small hotel, yet carefully decorated - While the standard room was very small, the room was clean, nicely kept and decorated and all the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. It is also in a very good location, close to restaurants and easy to find.
- Oda (8/5): Cheap, clean, nice. - Cheap, clean, nice personel. Over all a good experience.
- Annette (8/5): Excellent service and clean - The staff do everything in their power to help you and make your stay comfortable. Vietnam beds are hard as it stops bed bugs. The back rooms are quite as they are off the street. The staff are very professional and personal and kind.
- Verified traveler (4/5): -
Good location.
No chairs in the room. Old shower, which cannot be used. Poor air conditioner. Hot in the room. Dim artificial lighting. Nothing is seen in the room at night. I had to use pocket torch at night. Poor breakfast. Poor WiFi. Staff imposes its expensive transport services.
- Lay Hong (2/5): - We are so upset that we have been moved from this hotel that we have already paid for it to another hotel with the reason that the water supply is no good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Small room for a decent price - The room was small without window, but very clean and had everything you need. Got women up in morning by people taking outside of the room. The ladies at the reception was very nice and helpful. The man at the reception was helpful, but he was very pushy in a way that did not suit us. Well, you can't like everybody :) The breakfast was a menu that you ordered your choice from. The location was good, however I would have preferred to stay around where Hanoi Hibiscus Hotel is situated, as there are more restaurants and action around there.
- Sara (4/5): Clothes disappeared... - The rooms were okay (but the beds were very hard) and the service was overall good. However, what makes me rate this hotel so poor is due to the fact that they had stolen a few of my clothes. A few hours after I had checked out I recalled that I forgot a few clothes on the bed. I told the staff that I wanted my clothes that I had forgotten in the room but they said that they hadn't found anything in the room. They were lying since I am one hundred percent certain that I had left the clothes folded on the bed. They were not too professional about this and accused me of lying. This was very unfortunate (and very unprofessional) since the hotel was okay aside from this. I will never stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Really friendly staff! - Great Hotel, staff are super friendly and really useful, we arrived at the start of our trip in Vietnam, and they sat down and helped us outline the rest of our trip, where was worth visiting and staying etc and suggested the night trains which worked really well for us, wouldn't book these through the hotel though, we checked online and the prices advertised there were a lot cheaper than the hotel had quoted so we booked this ourselves. They did however, organise a local day trip and an overnight cruise in Ha Long Bay which were both excellent. Unfortunately, the room was slightly damp and the air con unit stank so we were avoiding using it but the room was otherwise clean and comfortable.
- Kenneth (10/5): Excellent Staff Great Service - The service here was way above par. Our host Joy went above and beyond to help set up a great budget 2 day stay in Ha Long Bay. Arranged all of our transfers to and from airport. Super responsive on email. 5 star service. Great breakfast.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This hotel locate in Old Quater area of Hanoi city, you can walk to Vietnamese National Tuong Theatre. You can transport to airport by bus no 18 and connect to bus no 17 to the airport.
- Helmut (6/5): not staying there anymore - Bed very hard, broken bathtub, room made only around 2.30-3pm made
- Steve (10/5): This hotel outshone any others on my trip by far! - I was upgraded to the sister hotel Serenity Villas. Delayed because of bad weather I arrived at almost 1pm, yet the staff brushed off my apologies for being so late and waking them with smiles and a warm welcome.
The room itself was a good size, genuinely like a boutique hotel, with fully tiled bathroom and rain shower. Bed was firm, but the pillows were amazing, all in crisp white bed linen. The air conditioning worked well and quietly. I honestly couldn't fault the hotel, particularly given the great price I'd paid. But more was to come. Continental breakfast turned out to include bacon, sausages, pancakes, croissants, fresh fruits, salad (a bit odd, but others seemed to go for it, fruit juices and a range of Chinese breakfast options, tea and coffee.
The staff spoke English, were very helpful in suggesting places to go. Nobody tried to sell me any tours, though there was clearly the option of buying through the hotel judging by the posters on display.
There was an in room safe large enough to fit a laptop. A well-stocked minibar was also in the room.
My early flight meant I had to leave before breakfast started, but the staff prepared me a breakfast-to-go which wasn't as nice as the buffet, but in truth that didn't have to go to the trouble, and it was a really nice touch.
I'm consciously upbeat about this hotel as it outshone any others on my trip, and did so by quite some distance.
- Wing Hong (10/5): - Its a very goid, clean and tidy hotel. The service is nice. Greatly recommend.
- TYAS (8/5): Room upgrade - We feel comfort with their service,we get free upgrade the room for twice with the same price..and for the last day they give us the new room in other hotel but still coorporate they are so friendly and helpful.good service.thx
- Nola (6/5): Hoteling the Vietnam way - We only stayed one night as we had a tour to go to for 5 nights but the hotel was pleasant. You certainly get what you pay for but I am very fussy and would say that it was clean and the staff pleasant.
- straightforward (2/5): Nice hotel.
- Nice hotel with simple breakfast.
Tour packages offered was expensive as what was shared by my friend.
Manager slightly too aggresive in sales of tour packages upon c/in.
Other then that overall is a pleasant stay.
- Felicidad (4/5): Hotel old and damp location on busy dirty street - Standard room booked damp and smelly. I arrived after 2pm and room still not ready. Only good thing is when I asked for room change I was upgraded to deluxe room without charge which was better room. Hotel carpet stained and hallway cluttered with mattress and other stuff during my stay. Breakfast is set menu not worth it. Overall not good stay.
- Angela (6/5): Well placed hotel - Good, convenient location in the Old Quarter. Staff very helpful
- Verified traveler (6/5): superior room - It was great to stay there but one think I didn't like about the hotel was the noise in the room 602. I was solo traveler and I got a superior room type and I could hear the boiler(or a machine)all night long regularly. It had a gap between the noise so I was able to sleep but I wasn't that happy about it. I came back to hotel quite late so by the time I went down to the lobby, the staff was sleeping. I didn't want to bother him so I tried to sleep in that room. I only stayed for two nights and I was out all day so it was okay to stay but if someone is sensative to sound, I don't recommend this room.
Overall breakfast was great. There were many options to choose so I had a different breakfast each day. All of staffs were really friendly and helpful. Room itself was also very clean. Everytime when I was out they cleaned the room nicely. Towels were clean and the duvets were soft and white.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cheap and clean - Cheap and clean hotel. Staffs were helpful in booking tours.
