Guest Reviews
- 263robynp (2/5): Questionable experience - Upon arrival there was an pleasant smell throughout hotel which remained for the duration of our stay. Booked through booking com which advertised breakfast would be included however there was non available. The bathroom was very dirty with black mold in the shower and an unflushed toilet on arrival. There was tissues and empty wrappers in the draws/under bed.
There was no remote for tv in the room.
Only positives were the good location and cheap price however would say the negatives massively over shadow this.
- MrKitts (2/5): STAY AWAY! - If you like little late night visitors “cockroaches”, anyone in the hotel having access to your room key, AC that doesn’t work in several rooms, people sleeping in the lobby because the owner double booked and the worst customer service. Then look no further!
I honestly don’t know how this place is still in business.
- berky932 (2/5): Terrible - Complete scam! They advertise as they have free parking but there is no free parking at all! They advertise breakfast included and their breakfast is only sliced bread and sliced cheese and ham. Nothing else!!! Rooms has hundreds of mosquitoes.. Avoid avoid avoid!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved the location and the people were so kind.
- juan pablo (2/5): - No coger nunca este Hotel!!
- Guillermo (2/5): - The thing I like is close to everything in town but the property is very poor, bad AC, bad smell and a lot noise. I don’t even get shampoo or soap
- Kristin (6/5): - This property has a great location inside Old Town.
Sort your parking in advance if you drive. The nearby old town parking is 100€ per day. Park further out for much less (25€ per day) and uber to the old town.
As for the physical property - our room did its basic job and gave us an air-conditioner place to sleep and shower. However there was a large moldy water stain in the ceiling above the shower. The entire lobby and stairwell smelled of mildew. The bathroom mirror appeared to have some kind of old crust in one corner. We reserved on Expedia for 3 people in 1 room but somehow they only had 2 on the reservation. The staff did accommodate by setting up a folding bed. However my friend who slept on it was afraid of falling thru it in the night because the slats holding the mattress on the frame kept falling off.
- Frances (8/5): - Very pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant serves great coffee and the food was reasonably priced.
- consuelo (8/5): - Even though it was a bit of issue at my check in
The person assisting me did an excellent job
- Alex (8/5): - The staff were very helpful and kind.
- Marc (6/5): - False advertising on the parking, TV not working - did. It even have a plug, shower a disaster,….
Staff was friendly. Manager does not answer phone.
Not worth the money.
- Denise (10/5): - Lovely family running hotel so glad I was there❣️
- PaulofSalford (10/5): Such a lovely family place. - We were still in an alley with our sleeping granddaughter. The Hamlet hotel owners saw that we were worried that some noisy people were going to wake her and they opened their door to let her sleep inside. We were sat in the alley outside the bar next door, so they had no obligation to help us. Such a lovely family thing to do.
- thomas (8/5): A nice place - Clean and nicely situated
Friendly staff
Breakfast was very badic
- Jonathan (4/5): Hamlet Dubrovnik - The building stinks to ciguerrete despite is a non smoking place. Breakfast is VERY basic for 10euros, just ham, cheese and bread. The TV in my room was just decoration as it didn’t have any cable connected and no remote control. I gave 2 stars just because the location is good.
- Breanne (4/5): - The only positive I can say about this hotel is the location. I would not recommend staying at this hotel.
- fouad (8/5): - Cute little place with a lot of character. Great service very friendly.
- Tia (2/5): - We had a terrible stay here, would not recommend at all!! We arrived for check in but were unable to check in for a couple hours after because it wasn’t ready. Then when we could check in the air con on the top floor which is where we were staying was broken and did not get fixed our entire stay which was horrific given it was peak summer. The staff who work at the bar were lovely but spoke very little English and the owner of the place was terrible she was not helpful at all. Our shower was also broken. The wifi also didn’t work and data to work in the room either. We have tried contacting Expedia for some sort of refund and have let heard from anyone.
Do not stay here.
- Antony (10/5): - Great warm staff
- Erica (10/5): - Very convenient location with nice amenities.
- ROBERTA (8/5): - This B&B is located in such a great location for sure. The room was somewhat "older decor" but clean and safe with modern split system heat and AC. We wereable to walk the entire area for shopping, sightseeing, dining. Our only negative is the after hours, late night voices from people having a few drinks outside in the alley (noise travels). We did not take advantage of the breakfast as we had a flight to catch - it lookeda bit meager certainly good for a quick bit prior to heading out. The owners are very nice.
- Glyn (2/5): - Tired. Great location if you didn’t have to lug large suitcase’s through the old town. Air con non-exsistent. Couldn’t open the window due to cigarette smoke from below. Leak in stairwell as we were checking out.
- O9948WJlaurenm (2/5): AVOID AVOID AVOID - Please listen to me when I say this this not the place for you. Let me preface this by saying, I have worked in hotels and completely understand that things break and it’s out of our control. It’s the complete lack of communication from the management that I take issue with. To start, when I booked through Expedia weeks before my arrival I messaged the hotel and asked if I could come store my bags since I would be there prior to check in time. No answer. That should have been my first clue about their atrocious customer service. I forgot about it until the day before and messaged them again via Expedia. Still no answer. I found them via WhatsApp and messaged them at 7:29 am. Almost three full hours later they finally responded that yes, I could drop my luggage off (spoiler alert- I had given up on getting a response and already went straight to the property and dropped it off with the guy at check in). They also said that the lock on my door was broken and wouldn’t be fixed until the next day and they could provide other accommodation. Unfortunately I did not see their message because I was exploring old town and at the beach and didn’t realize there was an issue until I went to check into the room around 3:00 pm and could not lock the door. I went downstairs and informed the check in guy who said he would contact the manager. Ok no big deal, I thanked him and went back to my room and waited and waited, and finally contacted the manager via WhatsApp again and asked about another room if this one could not be fixed. They said there was no other rooms available tonight and that hopefully the repairman would be able to resolve the issue (3:45 pm). Why did they offer alternative accommodation if they had no rooms available?? I wait some more and finally decide I need to shower so I lock the bathroom door since I couldn't lock the actual room door. Fast forward to me being locked in the bathroom for a good ten minutes. Long enough for me to begin to panic because my phone was in the main room and would anyone hear me? I finally get the bathroom door open and clearly there has been no repairman during this time. I message the manager again (4:45pm) and asked if they knew when he would be here as I was getting very hungry now. I can see they are online. No response. Twenty min later I texted them a “?” Again I see them come online. Still no response. I finally just grab anything that important that I wouldn’t want stolen and head to dinner. In the meantime I contact Expedia to make sure this whole situation is documented. The Expedia representative also contacted the manager and did not get a response. 50 minutes later I message them again that this is unprofessional and unacceptable and also their listing is still showing on Kayak yet they said they had no rooms available. Like I said I totally get that these things happen. What upsets me is that their way of dealing with it was to completely ignore me instead of checking in and keeping me updated with the situation. Within minutes of me challenging them about their room availability they responded with a screenshot showing they were fully booked and said the repairman was on his way. OF COURSE as soon as I challenged them only then did I get a response! I’m sorry, Dubrovnik is not that big, was the repairman coming from Zagreb or something??? Finally, FINALLY the lock was fixed 3+ hours later. Then they said that they “tried to avert me” but they had my phone number and email address so clearly they didn’t try THAT hard. This could have been avoided had their communication been better and they kept me abreast of the situation or given me a timeframe or anything! In addition to this, the shower does not drain well so you’re standing in a 4 inch deep puddle the whole time, the little half door does nothing to keep the water in, the towels did not look very clean and had black marks on them and were so stiff and scratchy that I won’t need to exfoliate again until next year, and the hot water is SCALDING HOT which I found out the hard way. Lastly that cute lobby photo? Don’t expect to see that when you enter. It was full of boxes and miscellaneous crap and clearly used as a storage area, and the bar had liquid spilled on it at some point that had never been cleaned up. Also it’s above a couple of bars in a narrow alley so I knew it would be loud but it was LOUD. In now reading past reviews it seems that these problems have been going on since at least 2018 and management does not seem to care. Im sure they make plenty of money based on the location alone and know that people will continue to book because of this, so why bother to make improvements? They'll get their money either way.
- Lauren (2/5): - AVOID AVOID AVOID
Please listen to me when I say this this not the place for you. Let me preface this by saying, I have worked in hotels and completely understand that things break and it’s out of our control. It’s the complete lack of communication from the management that I take issue with. When the lock on my door was broken it took over 3 hours of trying to get someone to come out and fix it. Management decided to deal with the situation by just ceasing to respond to my messages via WhatsApp instead of checking in or keeping me in the loop at all. Also the bathroom was disgusting water leaks out of the shower everywhere and the shower does not drain well. Also it’s LOUD you can hear the bar downstairs as if you are standing in it.
- Andrew (4/5): Look elsewhere - There is NO free parking at this hotel, despite the listing (took us 4 hours to organise parking, very stressful). Bathroom tap gives only a trickle of water, bathroom door handle fell off, hairdryer didn’t work, makeshift repair to the ceiling and damp mould in curtains. Fabric of the room was just run down. Service was good and location for sightseeing excellent. Breakfast was very basic, but coffee was good.
- Verified traveler (4/5): You get what you pay for! - This is a pretty sketchy spot run by sketchy people, so be careful! Definitely felt like an old hotel and not super safe. However, the location is great as it’s right in the middle of Old Town and convenient to most areas you would want to visit.
- 268KatieM (4/5): No parking - I think there is better accommodation available - DO NOT under any circumstances book this hotel with a car! There is no free parking at all here - the management know this and still advertise that there is. We spent 4 full hours trying to park the car and ended up leaving it at an out of town supermarket car park on advice of the bar staff. Very stressful and not what you want on holiday. The bathroom sink produced literally a dribble of water, bathroom door handle fell off all the time, the hairdryer was broken and bedroom furniture also damaged. Overall this is just run down. Breakfast was poor, but coffee was nice and the bar staff (it’s a bar with rooms really) were kind and helpful. The location is lovely as you are right in the old town walls. Towels and bedding were clean, but the curtains had mould from the air con unit.
- Shebbinch (10/5): Great price for the location - Really reasonable price for such a central location.
The rooms are nice and clean and have air con. Lots of stairs though so if you struggle with stairs maybe request a room on the 1st floor. There did seem to be some damp in the bathroom but it was nothing major and was a short stay so it didn’t bother us.
Breakfast was nice and was a continental style served on the street terrace outside. Nice little spot for breakfast.
Service was great and all staff here were really friendly.
Location is brilliant. You walk out the front door and you are in the old town. Everything is close by and walkable.
- Juan (4/5): - The facility wasn't in good conditions. We woke up at 8:30 am and when we went for breakfast there was a guy sleeping in the couch.
The only thing that is good about his property is the location.
- Rune (2/5): Bad experience - door would not lock in my room!!! - Bad management - they do not care about you! Stay away from this place!
I checked into the hotel in the early afternoon around 3PM. I went to the room and started the Air-conditioning unit. The place is a little run down, but I expected this and all looked good so far. An hour or so later I needed to leave the hotel and found out that my door would not lock from either the outside or the inside. I informed the guy who checked me in and I texted and e-mailed the emergency contact posted in the lobby because the guy who checked me in only operated the restaurant/bar in the place. I never got any responses from the management by e-mail or text. Finally, the guy who ran the bar during the night around 10 PM told me that that management offered me a 10% discount and would give me a new room the next day. It was unacceptable to me to sleep in a room that you cannot lock so I found another hotel nearby that was much nicer for about the same price.
- Paul (10/5): - Good for dursing though not the best in Dubrovnik
Definition of durst: to lay horizontally in a state of mess while surfing the web, watching TV or both simultaneously.
- lucinda (2/5): Refund please! Worst hotel experience ever! - The worst managed hotel I ever stayed! Stay away! Called three times in an hour, no answer, no parking. Finally someone answered call, was supposed to text me directions to a near by parking lot, waited for 15 minutes, no text. After dragging the luggage through old town, there was no reception at the hotel, only a bar waiter to give us key. Had to carry luggages to the 4th floor, no air con in the stairway, no lights on 4th floor, half lights in room #8 were not working. Couldn’t get in with code that was given to me at night after 12:30 am. called but nobody answered the call. Had to knock the door so hard for 15 minutes until another guest came down to open the door, felt bad about waking him but had no way to get in. No cleaning service, only one glass in the room, no big tower for shower, no extra toilet paper. Frankly, I should be refunded for two nights at this hotel!!
- Mohan (4/5): Great location but not much more! - My wife and I spent two nights a week ago (July 2023). The only plus point about this B&B is the location - right inside the old town of Dubrovnik and a 5 minute walk from the Plie Gate. Makes it very convenient to walk the city walls. Also, restaurants and bus stop, taxi stand are close by. (The owner was also kind enough to arrange an airport transfer for us)
Negatives - our room was on the 4th floor and there is no lift in this 250+ years old building (my fault for not requesting a lower floor room in advance). So we had to carry 2 suitcases up the stairs. The room had a slanted ceiling where one can easily bump into it if not aware of it all the time. The shower stand was broken - very difficult to handle the telephone shower. One table lamp did not work. One of the rooms had A/C problem one night and several other rooms (including ours) had to be inconvenienced to work on the fuse box.
The breakfast was just bare minimum. No eggs - just croissant, ham, cheese, orange juice and coffee. The man at Reception was managing all operations and he was clearly overworked. On the morning of checkout, he was late to show up and we had to scramble to leave to catch a bus on time.
If you want to stay here - better request a lower floor during booking and don't expect anything more than a bed and a small breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel, right in the lively center of Old Town - Nice hotel, right in the lively center of Old Town. Very convenient for local attractions, as well as a few minutes walk for a meeting point for most tour operators. Easily accessible after-hours. Breakfast isn't served until 0800, so too late if your catching most morning tours. Skip the pre-paid breakfast.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Needs maintenance - Great service by the caretaker that runs the bar below! But condition of apartment wasn’t great. Bathroom sink taps would only provide a trickle of water. Towel rail was broken, bathroom door handle was broken. Shower screen wasn’t to the floor so bathroom flooded with each shower
- James (8/5): - The property is above a little bar area, in and excellent and convenient location in the walled city. Breakfast in the morning was nice. The property itself could use a little work, and the cot we had ( there were 3 of us) had broken slats, so we just put the mattress on the ground. The man who was in charge of giving us our keys and breakfast etc was very sweet. Overall it was a lovely place to stay- but could use some up keep.
- Thomas (2/5): - This was the most disappointing stay we have had our our three week tour. We even stopped at the facility a week prior to our arrival after our cruise to confirm our room selection and insure we would be on a lower floor since there was no elevator. Upon arrival we were told that our room was not available as a previous guest had complained about her room and was given ours instead. So we were forced to climb 5 flights of stairs to our room number 5. It only had twin beds and was much smaller than the room we paid in advance for, which was a double bed and twin in a larger room. The room we were given only had one bath towel and one hand towel and no toilet paper. The TV did not work. The most important problem was that the door would not lock! The staff there could not resolve the problem and said the owners were previously made aware of the issue but failed to resolve it. There was no room safe as advertised either.
Every time we had an issue we had to walk down the 5 flights of stairs to get it resolved. The lock issue was never fixed. We were not offered any compensation for our problems. We paid to a larger room and did not get it.
The breakfast was small but nice, cold cuts, croissant, juice and coffee. The bar staff were helpful but limited in their capacity to resolve our issues. The hosts never appeared. I would not recommend this B&B.
- Rebekah (6/5): No free parking as advertised - We booked this hotel as it offered free offsite parking, however upon arrival were told there is no parking and given directions by the owner to a supermarket car park miles away.
Thankfully the front of house manager Maro (who was so friendly and helpful the whole stay) was able to direct us to a more legitimate free parking area where we wouldn’t get towed.
- Madeleine (2/5): - The manager was excellent but sadlly the owner did not worry about maintenance. Hence rooms all had neqtive issue. However the manager tried to offset frustrations in room standards
- Melita (10/5): - I stayed there with two senior ladies and all three of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The building is old with character and felt like we were living in the castle area in old times. Beautiful! Beautiful paintings as well. Of course it is old, and not perfect but lots of amenities e.g. shower etc are new and clean. The breakfast lovely, the care of staff (Maro)amazing, and the location ideal. I was worried when I read some reviews, but in the end we fell in love with the place and the city of course. The location of the hotel is more than ideal.
- Vanessa (8/5): - This is not a 5 star hotel so dont expect 5 star services especially for price and location in Dubrovnik. Main Pro is that the hotel is in the one of the best locations in the city. Walking distance to all the main attractions.
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Con: no daily room service and be sure to have all your toiletries including shower gel.
Rooms could be improved to look better. For example the curtains were torn and I had to pin them at night to close completely. Other than that I would recommend only if youre not looking for 5 star services.
- Caroline (8/5): - Hotel was in center city. Outside parking is very expensive
- Fiona (8/5): - Very central accommodation
Basic but clean and friendly ideal for a sightseeing trip
- Jayne M (6/5): Repairs needed - The toilet seat and shower head were broken. We did not get breakfast one morning.
- Erik (10/5): - Great location, almost right on the main street. Easy to get to from two gates into Old Town. Clean and a nice breakfast included. Staff was friendly.
- Catherine (4/5): - The location was great. Unfortunately the air conditioning did not work and in Dobrovnik in August you need air conditioning. Roll away bed for our daughter was broken, despite our paying for an extra guest. Breakfast was too late if you were trying to make a flight or tour.
- Odyssey549056 (6/5): 2 nights in Hotel Hamlet, Dubrovnik - The Hotel was located inside the old palace and so you can only get dropped off at the main gate to the palace “Pila” and then walk to your accomodation. It was a little difficult to find. Look for the Game of Thrones merchandise store on the left hand side and turn up next laneway. It is near Bar Divino and entrance is on the left side. TV and Hair dryer did not work and I had to climb many stairs with luggage to get to my room. Otherwise an excellent location and room was clean.
- Nicholas (2/5): Cockroaches, no air conditioning, no locks - We have traveled the world and this hotel was the absolute worst. The air conditioner only blows out hot air, so we had to sleep with the window open. It’s was about 80 degrees outside and about 90 degrees in the room. The room was directly above a bar and had noise all night. Since the air conditioning didn’t work we were forced to sleep with the window open which made it worse. We don’t mind noise, but when we pay for a room with Air Conditioning we expect to get it. I woke up to take a piss at midnight and 2 cockroaches were enjoying the bathroom drain pipe. We stayed in room #5 and our friends stayed in room #3 and experienced the same problems. Room #3 didn’t lock so when we came back from dinner the room door was wide open, room #5 did lock but looks like the police broke the door down and it was hanging on by duct tape. I’d stay anywhere but here. When we told the bartenders who were also the welcome center they told us they would tell the manager. It was horrible and I’ll be asking hotels.com for a refund
- Josi (8/5): Central location in Old Town, No provided parking - Very central location in the middle of Old Town, right above a wine bar, so it can be noisy at night. My only major complaint was that the site mentions free parking off-site but the manager never responded to me after multiple messages and none of the staff (who all work at the bar) knew anything about parking. So I had to find parking on my own. There are paid parking lots around the town but some are quite expensive. Other than the parking, the room was pretty small but to be expected, the WiFi worked but not so fast, the AC worked but not so cold. The beds were quite comfortable. The guys who worked at the bar downstairs to help give guests keys and breakfast were all very nice. There's no elevator so I requested a lower floor, otherwise you need to walk up multiple stairs, but then again you're already doing a lot of walking as a tourist. Say Hello to Dario if you stay there!
- Patricia (2/5): - The rooms were over a bar. One of our 4 rooms had no air conditioning. Manager was unavailable. No one answers the number. No lights on the top floor. Non functioning TV. Spotty WiFi. Door frame in one room was badly damaged as though it had been kicked in. One room was an attic style room which caused several bumped heads on the low sloping ceiling. Shower water temperature could not be controlled. It went from cold to scalding without warning. Over all the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had
- Perry (2/5): - First and foremost desk managers Marko and Dario were excellent but whoever was really in charge never responded to my e-mail and the message on the e-mail that it may take days for someone to respond to a issue is totally unexceptable. I was there for only 2 nights. The first night in Room 5 the door jam was busted and air conditioner did not work in the 90 degree heat. I did get moved to a room with air for the second nite and the door did lock. Again Marko and Dario did the best they could. The mystery man that was pulling the strings never responded to my e-mail. The city of Dubrovnik is awesome.Perry Pappas Boston
- Sara (8/5): - Lovely little place in a good location in the old town.
- Ivan (10/5): Hotel Hamlet - Fantastic location - about 30 sec walk in Stradun. Incredible staff, always smiling, always welcoming. Comfy bed and good breakfast.
- laura (10/5): Great location - Situated in a GREAT location in the middle of Old Town, Dubrovnik. Definitely made our stay much better because we were staying in the center of Old Town. The rooms are nice, the hotel was clean, and the breakfast was generous. I would highly recommend this location.
- Susan (6/5): - This property is average, staff only there in am for breakfast. The location is very good, breakfast good Mario is very nice. The hotel needs attention, and it is completely no frills just basic. The parking is very challenging, have to go to paid lots, farther away. The city is great but the hotel so so.
- Alan (8/5): - Had a great stay at Hamlet B&B. Lovely staff.
- Georgia (8/5): Great location - Great location. Quite basic but lovely staff and just what we needed really. Smell of drains in main entrance but room ok
- Carlos (8/5): Great location for affordable price - The location was right in the heart of Dubrovnik which made it amazing. But it was slightly outdated and could use a bit of upkeep.
- jbg74 (8/5): Great Location - The hotel was in a great location inside the old town. The Pila (main) gate is the closest one with the least amount of steps. The room was comfortable. There is no elevator and there are six floors with lots of steps. If you have trouble with steps get a room on a lower floor. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was good too.
- Jeffery (8/5): Great Location - The hotel was in a great location inside the old town. The Pila (main) gate is the closest one with the least amount of steps. The room was comfortable. There is no elevator and there are six floors with lots of steps. If you have trouble with steps get a room on a lower floor. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was good too.
- Jonathan (4/5): Smells - The hotel smells of drains in the reception/bar area and stairwell. The room smelled of damp. The coffee tasted like dank water. If anyone ever finds out where the parking that comes with the hotel is please let me know. Location and building are great but so is any other hotel in the old town. Dubrovnik is awesome!
- Kathy (10/5): - Definitely coming back!
- Josip (8/5): Location great - Stay right in yhe city center... If your goal is simply to be in the perfect location and want to catch the walls early this is the place to be... everything else is mediocre
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a renovated boutique hotel inside the old wall. Accomodating staff and nice lovely room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice little hotel in the heart of old town. Very friendly and helpful staff.
- edwina09 (10/5): Great location - Old Town - My sister and I took a private car transfer from Bosnia (Medjogorje) , our service driver had a difficult time to find this B&B, after asking cab drivers, we found out its inside the old town wall, Our driver from Bosnia was nice helped us carry our luggage to the old town entrance and to our Hotel to the room. Hotel location is excellent, one step to all , we are glad we were assigned to Rm 1 which is the 2nd floor, the breakfast is not spectacular but its enough, I really like the lady who is in the morning breakfast, i didn't get her name but very polite, respectful, she even offered to cook me and my sister omelette , what a treat. The room is comfortable, not big, but its what we expected in the old town as long as it has clean sheets and warm water which they have. We stayed two nights in Dubrovnik and we had fun, we took City Tour, the GOT Walking Tour, Climbed the Wall.. we look forward to be back again in the future with our family.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Most rooms beautiful but ours was very small however it was the quietest which is what I asked for
- SiddharthDasgup (10/5): - Excellent location in old town Dubrovnik.
Not a steep climb.
Very friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic location right in the old town, not the quietest place I've stayed as there is a bar downstairs and sounds echo in the narrow street.
Very helpful staff. I would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Although Location is excellent, its a little bit hard to find
it is inside the old town, convenient location we can go home and rest anytime during the day. No elevator, but its ok as long as you are in the 1st landing ( 1st floor ) . Would recommend to family and friends
- David (10/5): A Copenhagen treat - Location, staff, room and amenities were ver6 fine
- Jun (10/5): - Quaint hotel inside the walled city of old Dubrovnik. It is walking distance to two local beaches and most historic sites inside the old wall. Lots of restaurants nearby. However, like most hotels and apartments in Dubrovnik, this hotel does not have elevator (our room was on the 4th floor). The simple breakfast and service are awesome. I will definitely return!
- jima56 (2/5): Room door did not lock - Checked in early and found that my door did not lock. Let the staff know and explained that I did not feel safe without a locking door. They dismissed my concerns and did not try to fix it for the duration of my stay. Despite asking, I was not offered a different room (even though there were 2 not in use). No discount given. Very disappointed
- Verified traveler (2/5): Worn out and broken - The door into my room did not lock (it was old and broken). I told the staff and they said there’s nothing they could do about it for the duration of my stay. I did not feel safe and I expressed this but was ignored. I asked to change rooms as I was not receiving all that I paid for and they also refused to do that.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very good location and good air conditioning. Breakfast was also good.
- otcteam (4/5): Not a 4 star hotel !! - This is absolutely not a 4 * hotel
Rooms OK but basic and breakfast was unaccepta ble for a 4star hotel
Yes location is great but by far to expensive for comfort and service,in Dubrovnik they have no shame , a tourist is a milkcow
- Verified traveler (2/5): - They cancelled my reservation the day before for no good reason.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Really great location in old city. Good breakfast. Rooms are fair.
- tomfB183SZ (10/5): Friendly Staff-Great Location - This is a quint B & B in the heart of Old Town, “inside the wall”! Clean, with each room having a private bathroom!!!! Friendly staff was very helpful and made a great lite breakfast each morning. Hotel is next to D’ Wine Bar.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is an older style hotel in the old town , very central to resturants and points of interest . Mario the manager was very helpful, kind and attentive. The hotel was clean and breakfast hearty .
One helpful tips for anyone visiting.get off the bus and walk straight through the arch and you are almost there .
- HappyChris008 (8/5): extremely good place for stay in Dubrovnik - Location was amazing - in the heart of Old City, 200m to any important place
Damian, who was the young man arranging transfer was well speaking English, perfect punctual and on return way took us additionally on a mountain to see the splendid view of Dubrovnik
Bed was comfortable, breakfast standard, but sufficient, coffee was very tasteful
Some facilities need maintanance, but the staff has already started to amend this small irregularities
- Elena (10/5): Center and nice - It was very cozy and friendly
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Location is amazing however not easy to find, staff never got back to me with my inquire about parking. Family run business so don't expect traditional business efficiency.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Unfortunately, the room wasn’t available when we arrived, so the had to give another place outside the hotel. We moved back on Sat 6Oct and were given room 8 which looked fine until we realized the bathroom toilet and shower were leaking water on the floor, very uncomfortable situation that we reported but nothing was done, although they provided towels for the floor. They offer to change rooms but it seems those have the same condition or worse. They need a whole overhaul of their bathrooms.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I don't normally give such poor ratings, but I'm am compelled to on this one. How it rated 3.5 stars is beyond me! First off upon arrival at the hotel I did not find anyone at the desk to check in with. However, there was a young man occupied with his cell phone and the television sitting in the "dining area". When I asked if I was in the right place he stirred and said "I can help you!" Ok I'm on my way to getting my room…on the top floor 4 stories up with NO elevator. The room was hot and WOW…what a smell! Sewage and drain problems I presume. There was water dripping from the A/C on the wall with mold, and the shower had mold as well growing in it. Just to clarify, this hotel is about 2 to 3 hundred years old. However, I just stayed at two hotels the same age in Croatia and Italy…they were worthy of the 3.5 star rating taking all things into consideration. With that said I would caution anyone on this hotel and especially accepting room 7 on the top floor. I cannot speak for the other rooms, perhaps they are 3.5 stars (doubtful) but the service was still lacking and about 99% of the time there was no-one around managing this place. Incidentally I cannot address the free breakfast as I did not want to take a chance on becoming ill. This is based on my general impression of this hotel. In closing Good Luck if you choose this place and I hope you have a better experience than I did.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Center of town. Excellent location - Dubrovnik and surroundings is a great place to visit. People are friendly, costs are reasonable. Services are outstanding.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The breakfast staff was friendly and the breakfast was great.
Now come the negative aspects: The entire hotel smelled of sewer gas; our room smelled of mildew. The toilet leaked around the base. We had to ask for shampoo. Do not book rooms 7 or 8. They are on the top floor (75 steps up and down). Half the ceiling is at a 45 degree angle. To walk around the bed requires one to crawl on one's hands and knees. The hotel has not been updated in decades. We had to sleep with the windows open - loud drunks shouting until the wee hours.
- Pinkfluffyzebras (2/5): Horrendous accommodation! Stay away! - This b&b was awful in every way aside from it’s location is close to the Main Street in the old town so very convenient as a base.
The room is very poorly maintained. The air conditioning had an error and wasn’t working efficiently so room was very hot and stuffy, the toilet seat wasn’t attached properly, the shower head attachment to attach to the wall was broken so the shower head had to be hand held, shower screen didn’t fit so bathroom flooded each time you showered, no hand soap provided so we had to use the two very small pots of shower gel as hand soap, curtains not attached to curtain rail, light attachment coming away from ceiling, safe isn’t actually secured so could be carried out of the room (only small). Door was also very hard to lock on leaving the room.
We were unaware on booking that the b&b was located above a bar. We were on the first floor which was extremely noisy from the bar until the early hours of the morning 2-3am so don’t stay here if you want to sleep before the early hours. We requested a twin room via email on booking which we didn’t get, the room was set up as a double. There’s a general smell of sewage in the hallways of the b&b as well as the street outside but the room was generally very clean and smelt fine and the style of decoration was beautiful. Bed was comfortable.
The staff member who was present in the bar is very unwelcoming, ignorant and rude. He is aware of issues with maintenance but just smirks at you and shrugs when you mention something. He spends his days lounging in the bar on his phone and smoking, very unprofessional and made no efforts to assist with any issues. Very poor attitude and no help at all.
Housekeeping member of staff doesn’t knock before cleaning the room so be prepared for her to just walk in!
Breakfast isn’t worth eating. Stale cereal. A few slices of ham or cured meat which stayed uncovered right next to the outside door. Scrambled eggs which are made prior to the start of breakfast and just left to go cold and rubbery. Not replenished for those who don’t get downstairs for 8am. Cheap fruit juice. Coffee is disgusting and not worth drinking. No tea offered. Yogurts were provided as was bread if requested (if there was someone available to ask). We went out for breakfast after our first morning.
We had booked via booking.com so had already paid prior to our stay. The staff member seemed to have no idea who had paid and who hadn’t but accepted it when we told him we had paid and we checked out. He then came and found us at the bus station around 15 mins later, again very rude, confrontational and patronising and accused us of not paying and ordered that we must pay him. Luckily we had confirmation printed out with us as proof of payment. No apology from him on viewing this. We told him he is lucky we had paid given the standard compared to the price and if there had been alternative accommodation to book we would have left the b&b. He said he didn’t care which was evident from the beginning.
Whilst we were leaving another couple who hadn’t paid were told they were unable to pay via bank or credit card and must pay in cash. Bear this in mind as they hadn’t been made aware of this prior to checking out and therefore didn’t have enough cash.
- klavsh2018 (6/5): Location, location, location! - So... They will renovate during the low season 2018-2019, which is a good idear. They have all in all 8 rooms on 4 floors in a 16.th century building (with no elevators of course). We got what we assume are the worst rooms up under the roof with inclined walls, making the room feel small. We had asked for separate beds, but had a double - My mom and I! They promised to change it to single beds, but never got around to do it. There was a foul smell from the bathroom drain. This is a bed & breakfast so no bathrooms amenities. On the upper hand they have a great location and a 4€ breakfast, a very good deal in Dubrovnik. Staff/owners(?) is/are very friendly and down to earth.
- KenR1578 (2/5): Stay Away - I got to this hotel- and they said "We gave your room away cause we had another guest that wanted it" They further said it is their policy to give paid for rooms away when the guest that stayed their the night before wants to extend their stay. They still charged me for the room
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic hotel in good location - The hotel is in a good location in the Old Town but all the amenities are pretty basic. The room and the bed were both a really good size, with bedside tables and a small wardrobe and table, sofa etc. The bathroom and shower was also decent size. Thank goodness for AC too!
I'd say you get what you pay for, the shower leaked and by the time you're done there is a small lake on the floor outside, there was only shower gel provided and our towels weren't swapped out (but only stayed for 5 nights so that's ok), although there was a dirty towel left behind from the previous guests :-(
There was a tv on the wall but no remote control, there was a safe in the cupboard but so small and light I could have carried it out myself.
Breakfast was basic; yoghurt, bread rolls, ham & cheese and UHT with your tea/ coffee. Some fresh fruit some of the time.
Staff weren't hostile but not precisely friendly, although anything you asked for they would help with.
- erdenizpasali (2/5): Uzak durun! / Stay away! - Oda bizden once kullanilmis, carsaflar pisti ve kapi arkasinda kullanilmis havlu vardi. Sabunlik kirilmis. Dus askisi kirik. Dus kapisi aralik kaliyor tum banyo su icinde. Oda rutubetten dokuluyor. Klima e1 hatasi veriyor sogutmuyor ilgilenen yok. Pencere 1 mt uzaktaki duvari goruyor. Tamami fotograflarda mevcut. Personel cok soguk. Kahvalti berbat. Uzak durun!
Room was used before us, sheets were dirty and unchanged, there was a used towel just behind the bathroom door. Liquid foam holder is broken. Shower holder is broken. Shower door stays not fully closed. Bathroom gets wet during shower. Room has high humidity and walls are damaged. Air conditioner gives e1 error and not working. Next building from window is 1 meter apart. All are documented in photos. Staff is very cold. Breakfast is terrible. Stay away!
- Jorge (2/5): - Check in was a nightmare. There were no rooms available and they offer us to move to a different premise. After some arguing we were fiinally given a room.
Bedroom was ok but the showe was broken nd there were no hot water
The hotel needs some urgent repairs!!!
- carlos (10/5): A gem of a caregiver - The owner/care giver is gem of man: always ready to lend a hand; a gentleman. He walked our cases towards the taxi (some 500 meters) and waited with until the taxi he had called arrive. For an elderly couple these attentions are priceless.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Good location. Not clean. Roach in the room, not taken care of by cleaning staff. Leak in the bathroom after every shower. Not worth the money.
- Sam (6/5): Great location - Cheap and friendly, breakfast check the sell by date. Room cleaned once in 4 nights.
- Dee (8/5): Nice old style hotel in great location - Nice clean and reasonably priced hotel right in the centre of the old town. Staff very friendly and helpful.
- James (8/5): nice hotel in heart of old city - the rooms are romantic - large beds antique style furniture and chandeliers. A lot of stairs to climb howevèr! breakfast disappointing. staff charming.
- Ben (2/5): Hotel cancelled the stay at last minute - And didn’t reply to any messages following it, went to see them, promise the full payment back but still awaiting the response
- Yoshi-NY (8/5): - Very good location and room but no shampoo and body wash. I have to buy some shampoo but wasn’t small one. I don’t blame bad drain outlet that happen this type of old facility like Rome.
