Guest Reviews
- Taku (2/5): - 洗面所の排水が詰まっております、フロントに言ったが直してくれない。
バスルームの扉が壊れており開閉できない。
エアコンのファンが回る音がキーッと鳴り続けて不快
- Nanette (6/5): Expo near rest not well - Not in really good shape. Gym is very old machines not working well.
Rooms are worn out.
Close to the expo
Bar is not cozy
- Shotaro (8/5): - なし
- Darren (10/5): - If you are attending any tradeshow at the tradeshow Centre across from the Himalayas, this hotel is ideal. Not only are the staff friendly and welcoming, the service is good, the food is good and the rooms are nice and clean. If you don’t speak Mandarin the staff are accommodating and friendly and will find a member of the staff to communicate with you in a friendly manner. I was never frustrated or left without anything. Going to the tradeshow only minutes away was extremely useful as casual meetings could be organized and were quite pleasant in the lobby area seating area by the bar.
- Robert (8/5): - If you need to be close to the exhibition center, book this hotel. I only book this hotel as it was in walking distance from Maglev station (cca 15minutes). Hotel is nice, but far away from the city center.
- James (8/5): - Check in was quiet but underwhelming for a high STAR hotel chain. No one seemed to care we were there. Ideal location for that side of Shanghai.
- Michael (10/5): - The Jumeirah Himalayas is my go-to hotel when I stay in Shanghai. The service is top-notch, the rooms are spacious and clean. The food choices and buffets are excellent. Located next to line 7 on the Shanghai Metro (subway), getting around the city couldn't be easier from this location.
I would *highly* recommend the Jumeirah Himalayas if you are staying in Shanghai for business or pleasure.
- WEILUN (4/5): Unclean room - Bathroom doesn't look like it's been cleaned, especially the sink. There are ashes on the floor too. Hard to imagine this is a 5-stars hotel!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Mainly check in was rough. I waited for about 15 minutes to check in, then there was no assistance with bags. So I took my two large luggage’s and 2 kids up to the room by myself.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great! - Comfortable and convenient (right next to the train station, mall, and convention center). Hotel staff speak English. The quality of food for breakfast could be improved.
- Rossali (10/5): - The staff was excellent, they upgraded us to the suite, it was beautiful. The breakfast is amazing.
- jensheng (8/5): Good - I have request to have a statement re-issue with my company info. Please help to send that new statement to make your service perfect. Jason
- Verified traveler (10/5): Table pads not changed - It's great staying here. However, if they can change the table pads during the breakfast hours, it would be perfect.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Close to Mall and metro station. No privacy in bathroom with only glass. Had to call for ice each time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It’s perfectly located next to the exhibition centre . The hotel is clean and service is very good . Only problem is the WiFi is very poor . It was very difficult sending and receiving emails etc. I was forced to use my Uk network which cost me
- Verified traveler (8/5): Dated - A 5 star hotel that is trying to keep standards but looks to be short on business and thus struggling a bit. Good staff but lacking a bit in people skills.
- Chao (10/5): - I had a pleasant stay with the hotel. The room is big and well designed. In particular, the front desk staffs there have been very friendly. I lost my phone on the taxi on my way to the hotel and a number of staffs have made extra effort in helping me to find the phone. In particular, I would like to thank Royal Zhao, Carey Li and Lucas. I definitely will stay with the hotel again.
- Singapore (6/5): - bed is sunken bad and cabinets doors are in bad working condition
- Sofie (2/5): - I was checked in a non-smoking room with very strong cigarette odor. It took more than 30 minutes for the hotel staff to agree to change a room for me.
- MJ (8/5): - I booked a room for 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids), then I got to the hotel and they told me breakfast is included for 2 adults and you have to pay for your 2 kids. What is that??? its better to either not give anything (Many other hotels include free breakfast) or give it to the 4 of us. I did not like that. Other than that location is a PLUS
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent all round. Best out of the 1000+ hotels I've ever stayed in.
- VISHAL (10/5): Really Awesome Hotel - Amazing Property and Front Desk Guy Ronald gave us a Upgrade on very reasonable Price really awesome room and very good Breakfast as well , I will definitely stay again in this Hotel and will recommend to others as well .
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Check in was told room will be an hour waited in lounge for almost 2 was told not ready yet so went out for an hour couldn’t believe it when we returned and they said oh it’s not ready yet !! Please tell the truth it’s better. Club lounge advertised until 2300 but it’s only 2230 again just advertised correctly,
- Steven (4/5): - This isn't the Jumeirah group I know with personal friendly service. It's become more like a Hilton! First of all my credit card worked on some devices and not on others so long wait at checkout discussing with my bank and their bank and ultimately ended up paying cash, even though nothing was wrong with my credit card. Although I tried to explain to the manager that I had a Dubai credit card and this problem may occur in the future so they should fix it, the problem was not solved.
Anyway the hotel build quality is so so. Only advantage is connectivity to the exhibition centre and proximity to Pudong Airport.
- MB (2/5): - This is NOT a 5 star hotel. At best 4 stars and at times 3.5.
Staff are polite but not friendly and not helpful. The hotel doesn’t offer money exchange which is a major inconvenience. You have to go to the bank across the road which opens at 9 but it’s busy so it takes around 45 mins to 1 hour for money exchange.
The rooms are not cleaned correctly. You can see dust snd dirt specially around the corners. The bedding was changed however the new bed had orange stains on it. It was a very hot day and we wanted to close the blinds but the blinds don’t work. The curtains does but doesn’t stop the sun beaming through.
The mini bar was almost empty. Had 2 cokes and thats all. You get 3 coffee puds which 1 is decaf. We rang to ask for more and was told we had our share for the day and when cleaner come and clean the next day we get our next day share and then she hung up the phone.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - No big mirror in the room. Overall is good. Free mini bar and great location.
- MAN YIN LEO (8/5): Excellent Hotel for the exhibition. - Excellent location for the exhibition centre. Obviously the manpower of concierge is not sufficient and they are not so well-experienced in handling massive enquiry and providing solution.
- Stephen (10/5): - Tube station is next to the hotel. Easy access to city centre.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was near the show ground and near to metro station.
- Ian (8/5): Service great, fittings a bit tired. - The hotel is getting a little tired but they are refurbishing. Aircon not very good. BBC World News available. Service excellent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good property, good staff, good gymnasium, moderately good location. Cant drop the room temprature below 23.4c
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Easy access to Subway. Very nice property. We got upgraded to a suite. Fantastic room. Many front door staff did not open the door when we are coming in with a stroller and luggage on hands.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent, great service , great upgrade
Will surely be back again
- timm (4/5): - The room pics don't show the reality of wear and tear on this hotel. The dated room was stifling hot with no temperature adjustment whatsoever. Open window to traffic noise far from ideal. Front desk staff doesn't communicate anything about the hotel. I wouldn't rate this a 4-5 star hotel. A 3 star.
- dmr (6/5): - Rooms are a little dark and getting "tired" Bathroom door barely shut. Gym is OK, just a slightly odd layout.
- David (8/5): Lovely hotel - Hotel was convenient to get to the maglev the following morning near a shopping place and the tube. Standard of the hotel was premium and will stay here again
- Verified traveler (10/5): Relaxing trip - Good location . Nice hotel, but could use another firm pillow.
- Prab (10/5): - Luxury hotel in great location across the street from metro for a good price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This was the 6th or 7th time I've stayed at this hotel and there are elements about it that always impress. The staff are amazing, the beds are comfy, the breakfast buffet is to die for.
What I've noticed the past couple of visits is that the maintenance seems to be slipping. Upon arrival, my room didn't have electricity of air conditioning (something the housekeeping staff should have noticed while cleaning it before arrival), my shower had a distinct smell of mold and mildew, and there were cracks appearing in some walls and grout. The hallway carpets were starting to show wear as well.
Now, I realize I am in China, but as a 5* hotel with such a stellar reputation, it is the details that matter. I hope they will address some of these things before my next stay.
- Bo (10/5): The best of the best, highly recomended! - This hotel is the best of the best! You get what you pay fore and more, much more!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - In general fine but not really up to standard at this price tag. Pre-paid booking through Expedia still not in front desk system at time of check-in. Not-so-warm staffs. Room spacious but layout a bit awkward (e.g. tiny shower room, narrow and long corridor). Location and food option in this area are pretty bad, comparing to city center.
- JorgeAriza (10/5): Excellent Location for Shanghai Pudong Exibitions - Extremely comfortable hotel for Shanghai Pudong exhibitions, just accross the street. Many dining options in the hotel and nearby.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great and convenience for Exhibition. - Best Place for Exhibition attend.
Big room, great comfortable.
- Peter (2/5): - I stayed at Burj Al Arab before but although Jumeirah belong to the same group, it is nothing closer to it.
To stay out, the room is expired. The curtain has many holes and tears in it so I was awake but sunlight every morning. The tea and coffee are cheap brand. Somehow, the staffs always miss a thing or two when refreshing the room that I had to request for room service every night after a long day was simply unacceptable. Finally, the manner of several staffs at front lobby and swimming pool were plainly rude and they must be retrained.
I honestly like an apology from the hotel manager but they were absent when I asked for them at check out.
So, do take my experience into consideration when booking for your stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): Jumeirah Himalayas’ Excellent Club Lounge - Great Club Lounge and staff. Quality of food/ beverages in lounge is excellent, and service is quick, professional and done with a smile. Cannot really fault it. Will certainly return.
- Scott (6/5): Rooms were very warm - Every year we book a block of rooms at this hotel for a conference. This year, we booked 7 rooms. In the past, the Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai has been a favorite hotel for my business associates. The hotel is a true 5-star hotel... However, this year there were some issues that management should address. First, all of us complained that our rooms were too warm. Temperatures varied from 23 to 27. We complained multiple times to the front desk, but apparently the air conditioning was turned off. The second issue was there was mold in one of the showers. Third issue was that we could not connect with many US web addresses including Google. This caused issues with accessing email and schedules. Censoring US web addresses may have been beyond the hotel’s control, but we did have access in 2017.
This hotel is directly across the road from the Shanghai New International Expo Center and is steps away from the subway. Since we had a lot of luggage, we arranged for a car to bring us to and from the airport, but it is very convenient to use the Magnetic Levitation train. The hotel is one subway stop from the Mag Lev station.
Even with the issues we had this year, we plan to stay at this hotel again next year.
- Wesley (10/5): Great hotel - Amazing hotel, great room. Had a shower and a bath tub. The dinner buffet was great, loved the sushi and fresh seafood!
- mike (10/5): Very good! - Roland and Miró were extremely helpful.
Breakfast was very good
- Val (10/5): It was great! Just where I needed to be... - After having a canceled flight due to the volcano in Bali, this is just what I needed. The staff were so helpful and courteous. They allowed me to use their phone when I had no way to connect with some apps online. Beautifully designed and spacious rooms. Great linens and amenities. They were also very kind to let me use their fitness facility after checking out while waiting for my outgoing flight leaving that evening. It was the nicest fitness and spa facility I've ever been in, and I've been to quite a few.
- Romeo (10/5): Jumeirah Hotel- An Excellent Place To Stay - Very comfortable, very good service and in close proximity to the convention center. Excellent!
- Tom (8/5): Very nice hotel right next to the SNIEC (Fair), - Hotel staff takes care of every need, is very friendly and efficient. A few hours after departure I received a lost and found note about forgotten headphones with offer to send it for free or hold on to it for me for 3 months - I can't remember when that happened to me last.
Some polishing up of some Reception staff is also doing a great job, although some could use some polishing up of their command of English
- Jeffery (10/5): Highly recommended - Everything, especially the staff, was first class. Make sure to join the executive club. It was an amazing stay, Right next to exhibition facility.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good hotel disappointing food - Ate for 2 nights in the hotel both were below expectations.
First evening in the Michelin starred restaurant. Cannot believe it has a rating, tables left used with dirty plates on it for most of the times we were there. Only two tables were being served so no excuse. The food was very average.
Second time the buffet. Again disappointing we arrived with 90 minutes to close, in that time none of the food was refreshed with some of the trays being empty. Wine was also expensive for what it was.
The hotel was good just the food was a let down.
- Jorge (8/5): Great 5 star hotel very closeto the metro station - Hotel has a superb quality areas and lobby has Chinese style music very nice.
Room closet was small considering for 7 days 2 people but after all ok
- Christian (6/5): - Rooms are run down. Coffee machine and TV did not work.
- Gary Ming Fai (4/5): - Bad
- david (8/5): lovely hotel - everything great except the hot breakfast was cold
- Kingsley (10/5): - My stay was very comfortable, the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Thank you Chloe and and Gina :)
- David (10/5): Very Good- almost excellent. - Excellent for the nearby Exhibition center. Room wasn't was 100% clean- but almost. Food in good in the restaurants- buffet though is the usual thing. Staff are very good- understand English well and very helpful.
- Malcolm R (10/5): Outstanding hotel!!! - Excellent and outstanding hotel next to an underground station that will get you other areas of Shanghai. Rooms are well maintained and staff from door man to check-in, to in-room dining were exceptional and welcoming. The gym is very well equipped with dumbells in excess of 20kgs. Breakfast buffet had a very good selection of local and western foods.
- Kathleen (8/5): Enjoyable stay! - Very comfortable. Great location for my business.
- Jorge (10/5): Great hotel - Room was great and gave me upgrade with Expedia VIP. In front there is a mall with many shops and restaurants. Metro station within the hotel facilities. Amazing lobby
- Michelle (10/5): Five Star Hotel - This hotel has nice ambiance and big room. But the food is expensive, not that much value for money. Location is near the exhibition center but far from the city centre and attractions
- Manoj (6/5): Great hotel lousy service ! - Hotel was very very comfortable and the room was huge not just large comfort levels were super locations as great but what let's the hotel down is terrible service levels especially the F&B Dept food is quite mediocre service is atrocious they refused to serve me butter only margarine in the coffe shop saying. I choice have to eat margarine - 4 days room service V breakfast - 3 days they got it wrong either missing dishes ,ordering a breakfast set but two days Ina. Row forgetting to bring muesli !!! forgetting jam and butter, adding hash browns in Chinese breakfast set, empty plates with one one small egg presentation terrible - bell boys are rude , lazy and not helpful at all - they don't want to work they just ignore you or look the other way or just say sorry no taxi your distance is too close by so I must walk out talk to a taxi and do it myself -reception not helpful they will not do anything extra go make your stay comfortable - they refused to boil herbal tea for my wife who was ill (even after we offered to sign a letter of indemnity) saying their chef will not agree
It's a pity if they got the service right I would give it 6 stars as the property is lovely
- Ericson (10/5): Another great stay - This was my 2nd time to stay at Jumeirah Himalayas to be next to SNEI. Overall it is a nice property and you get what you paid for the service and amenities. Shopping mall is right next door or across the street so for those who has extra time after visiting a trade show. Restaurants are also plentiful in the area for the times you would want to explore local food fare.
On my first night however, I had to call down for service a strong cigarette smell in my non-smoking room and also the A/C unit does not seem to lower the room temperature in the middle of the night. But it was quickly addressed in a matter of minutes. After that no more issues on the rest of my stay.
- John (6/5): Nice but more expensive than last year - I have stayed here before. This time, more expensive and less services.
- Ron (8/5): Very nice hotel close to the Expo Center - This is a luxury hotel in walking distance to the Expo Center. The staff was warm and accommodating.
- yitian (8/5): 8 out of 10 - The serivce was great. The Staff are really friendly. It was my mom's birthday the day we stayed. The staff kindly offered us an upgrade and a birthday cake(delicious). However, the room was ok. Even though we got an upgrade to executive suites, the room was not that big and everything was just ok. I was expecting a more luxury style. The so called "world class shopping" in the building was nowhere to find...Overall, i would give the hotel an 8, and if you are just visiting shanghai or doing business here, it would be a great choice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic Experience - The hotel was very clean, staff was friendly (most didn't speak English very well so be aware). Everyone was very helpful. The rooms were spacious, well organized, quiet and comfortable. I will stay there again when in Shanghai and need to be in that part of town.
- Bill (10/5): Convenient location - The hotel is conveniently located across the street from the Shanghai New International Expo Centre SNIEC. The hotel restaurant food was decent as well. The beds were super comfortable and the air conditioning was great, probably the best of any Chinese hotel I have ever stayed in.
One of the perks that I really enjoyed was the free Wi-Fi with VPN. You can access Gmail, Google, Facebook, etc with no problems. Speeds were very good too.
I would recommend this hotel.
- Eng Whatt (10/5): Great Hotel in a quiet area - Staff are all well trained. We were attended to by Emma upon checking-in and she make us felt welcomed.
- John (10/5): Nice western style hotel - The hotel is great. Almost all of the lobby staff speak English. It is clean and in a great part of town across from the Kerry.
- Lisa (10/5): Great location, very friendly staff. - We stayed here as we were attending an exhibition at the New Shangai Expo Centre and wanted to be gliss by and we were directly opposite which was very convenient.., also very close to many restaurants to chose from and a very good shopping mall. The staff were all very good with (most) good English. My daughter was not well so the concierge very kindly took me to a pharmacy so he could translate for me .
- John (10/5): Excellent by all account - Excellent staff service all through the hotel: at both check in and out, the restaurant, the spa, and even when I requested an extended check out on last day (paid additional, which was fine with me). Room was clean, roomy, and newish. Right across the street from the new expo center. right above line 2 on the subway so very convenient transportation.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Enjoy it and don't be picky. - When staying at a five star hotel like Juneriah you have very high expectations.
This hotel is a good 5 star hotel but not an excellent one.
The rooms, facilities and layout are excellent.
The majority of the staff are unfriendly, some are rude. On one occasion i was waiting for the lift with another guest. When it arrived a lady was inside, from the side of us a bellboy with a large empty baggage trolley pushed his way into the lift first. Very rue and uncomfortable behaviour. Very few of the staff will try and communicate with you except the front desk staff.
Also, the building is one two years old I believe, yet showing significant signs of wear. The bathroom grouting is moulding or yellow. The fancy metal work is rusting. The carpet has not been laid properly in the hall.
So looks like staff are not trained and building was constructed with poor materials and tradesmen.
This is in contrast to hotel I stayed at in Shenzhen where every memento of staff was very friendly and the upkeep of the building was immaculate.
The food is also not great, overly greasy unappetising dishes.
The front desk staff and the spa staff are the very big exceptions.
Excellent front desk whom sent me to Shana and steam room to relax after long haul flight whilst room was prepared.
- Nicola (10/5): - Great location to be close to the exhibition center and metro station
- Marco (10/5): Right Across the Road From SNIEC - Amazing Hotel!
Close to the train station, and shops all around
- Avsar (8/5): Nice Exhibition Hotel - Jumeirah Himalayas hotel is good for exhibition and business. First of all hotel conditions are very good, nice staff and impresive decor. But hotel has terrible internet. Breakfast is good many varaities. If you go to exhibition this hotel will be best choice.
- yongsei (10/5): Good hotel chain in great location - Attached mall is not very active, but you can easily go to the Kerry park side.
- Susan (10/5): First time in Shanghai - The rooms were very comfortable and the buffets are lovely with many choices. The location next to the New Expo Center makes attending a trade show very convenient.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location - Good location right outside subway station and exhibition center. Very comfy beds.
- TN (8/5): Convenient traveling - Very good location next to the Expo Center in Pudong, minutes to metro line 7.The room was beautiful, clean, and very functional. I'm here for a trade show. The hotel is superb with people extremely kind and helpful. the location is not in the core of the city but it's literally in front of the exposition center. so perfect location for the fair.
- Pengxi (10/5): Great hotel - Great hotel with excellent facilities.
Services need to be improved.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Internet is unusable - Terrible internet connection - very hard to do work after hours, especially compared to other nearby hotels where I've stayed in the past.
- R. (10/5): Great Brand - This hotel embraces luxury and comfort. As an Elite Plus Member I was fully recognized and they give me many benefits of the VIP Access program. I'm fully satisfied. The gym is great. The hotel construction is amazing. The food acceptable. My only complain is that is a bit far from all the action in Shanghai, I will recommend to stay here only if you need to be in the area, otherwise you need to take a long taxi trip.
- Seth (10/5): Simply magnificent - Simply magnificent. Stunning rooms. Location not as convenient as others, but it is right next to an underground station.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfy Beds - Good Location and comfy bed and nice service.
- Verified traveler (6/5): location is good for me - Location is good for me, room is clean, bed is comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location for the SNIEC - Stayed recently from September 25 to 27. Absolutely beautiful hotel, and perfect location if you are visiting the Shanghai New International Expo Center.Room was beautifully laid out with a lot of TV programs such as HBO, etc. However for business meetings, it was too far for my suppliers who had to travel at least 60 km to meet with me. Food quality and service of the hotel was superb. The only down thing is that most of the neighborhood was practically dead. Shopping mall (Next door) has no shoppers at 5:00 pm in the afternoon.
- CLAUDIA (10/5): Right place for business - All you need few steps from the fair, also very convenient metro station at the lobby, great breakfast, great fruits at rooms, great staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great Convenience, Value and Quality - 5 star hotel very convenient , airport transfer via Maglev highspeed train is a breeze, New Expo center across the street , restaurants choices very good, Metro just outside the hotel and very convenient to visit the Bund. Overall quality great.
- Joy (10/5): Great Design, Unique Style - Iconic Architecture, Beautiful Lobby, Exotic Ambience, Great Service
- Natalia (10/5): Great hotel for business travel - I booked this hotel for my business associates because of its convenient location (across the convention center) and they were very pleased with their stay. They were greeted in the lobby, escorted to their room where there were fresh fruit. This was all part of the Expedia VIP access program.
- Kenny (10/5): A very high class hotel - The internal decoration is wonderful which I have never encountered. Customer service was excellent from the first minute I stepped inside the lobby. Fruit was offered free of charge and a special dish of cholate and biscuit was provided on New Year Eve.
- Steve and Sue (10/5): Very happy - Lovely place to stay albeit we arrived at 10pm and left at 9am the next morning. One of the better hotels we have stayed in and can recommend it very highly. Not far from the airport, and about 15 min from the Bund.
Boutique French soap in the bathroom, very nice linen etc etc.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent in every way - Remarkable service, top notch infrastructure and very secure. The beds are as comfortable as you can ask for, all the toiletries are from a premium french brand, (you even get toothbrushes). The A/C has digital per degree controls as do the lights and window shades, wireless and wired internet in the room. Atention to detail is remarkable. The location was great for me, near the airport and convention center, there is a very nice upscale mall across the street. The food is so good you can stay and eat every meal at the hotel and not get bored. Overall I think its a firm candidate for 5.5 stars.
- Yvonne (10/5): jumeriah hotel shanghai - absolutely the best hotel ihave ever stayed in- 10+luxurious room & beautiful decor-staff exellent-metro across street-only negative no shops closeby
- peter (2/5): won't go back - new hotel, a/c very strong; strong enough to wet everything in the room. sheetrock problems from moisture due to a/c (sheetrock dust/stains/ODOR!!)
had pants stolen from my room. food is good, but very expensive ($30+ for breakfast; $10 for a sml. mineralater, etc. ...)
decor is quite nice ....
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is very luxury and the service is very good but the breakfast is only average.
