Guest Reviews
- Michael (10/5): - Great stay and most helpful host, helped with buses and activitys and showed me where to find an affordable supermarket, Nice size room with lots of amenities like fridge, kitchen and Microwave. Well worth the asking cost of the room and will recommend to any friend visiting Dubrovnik
Bus a 3 minutes.
- JEAN LOUIS (10/5): Logement propre. Confortable. Petite terrasse. - Logement propre. Confortable. Petite terrasse. Bien situe, bus proche pour Dubrovnik. Accueil chalereux. Tres serviable. Accompagnement pour les courses. Proche plage a pieds.
- peter (10/5): - Stevi was very chatty and helpful. Use the no.6 bus just at the bottom of the road and turn right. Takes you straight to the old town. Leave early to miss the hordes from the cruise boats
- Corentin (10/5): Super !
- saimir (10/5): - The house and people
- Aline (10/5): - Anna guesthouse is amazing I can’t recommend it enough !!! Etienne is a very nice person who I do everything he can to help you . He is a very honest person and told us what places are good to eat local good food not too expensive and avoid some touristy overpriced places , he also recommended the Dubrovnik pass that was so helpful and cost-saving and on our last day our flight was late in the evening but he let us keep out luggages at the guesthouse as we had a tour booked and when we came back in the evening at 7pm he even offered for us to take a shower before going to the airport even if the check out was supposed to be 10am!! The location is perfect 3 minutes walk to a bus stop and it will take you in about 10/15 minutes to Dubrovnik old town , on the other side you only are 10 minutes walk to lapad beach which is beautiful. There are also cafes supermarkets and bakeries around . Also very good value . Clean room with shower and toilet, there was even various international adaptators in case we needed it ! Can’t recommend enough thank you so much Etienne 10/10
Rigtig spændende by og land.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very comfortable bed, lovely clean room. Welcoming and knowledgable host.
Just be aware that it's up the top of a steep hill so unless you are very mobile, use the number 6 bus. 5 min walk to restaurants and bars and a 10 min walk to the beach. Good value for money
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It is very well placed! In 10 min ypu can reach the beach and close to the guesthouse there is also the bus station to the city center!
- Jo (8/5): Great location - The guest is in a good location being close to the bus stop and within walking distance of restaurants and the sunset beach.
- Gek (10/5): A safe and comfortable guesthouse - Ana and her family are wonderful hosts. They even sort out my transport to port when I need to leave at 6 am. I am fortunate to have a room with kitchen and fridge. They advised me what to see, where to eat and get good discounts. They even have an iPhone charger to charge phone if you forget yours. Lovely guesthouse. Would stay there again. Note there is no shampoo or conditioner. Please bring ur own. It is very safe and easy to get to using bus. Please note lots of stairs and no lift if u need accessibility. Easy to go to local supermarket to stock up.
- Annina (8/5): Local feel away from tourist strip - Nice, comfortable apartment on the hill (lots of stairs to get down to main street, great to keep you fit but not ideal when not good on foot) beautiful little garden, outdoor seating, clothes drying rack, little kitchen with all essentials, good AC, lovely and very helpful host.
- Claudia (2/5): Hotel ruim - Localização ótima, mas o hotel e péssimo
Em frente ao hotel tem diversos mercados.
- Per Erik (6/5): Good value but perhaps not suitable for all. - The lodgings are located within about a mile from a nice beach. However, the place is located high on a hill, approximately 150 m above sea level. Older people might find that accessing the Beach by several stairs without a car might be challenging.
- edin (10/5): Utmärkt - Utmärkt läge,renhet på högsta nivå,jätte vänliga människor, lungt,nära stranden (8 min till fots) busstation ( buss till gamla stan) 8 min ...
- Martin (10/5): Highly Recommended - We had a wonderful time at Anna Guesthouse. Great staff and location in Babenkuk area.
Parking included (although pretty steep).
- Verified traveler (8/5): Bra!
- Camilla (10/5): - The owner was very nice and very helpful.
- Patricia (8/5): My time in Lopad - Very nice and helpful family that hosted me.A little hard to find but a true gem worth looking for...
Gave me helpful hints on the area and how to best achieve and make my goals of being there and touring happen...Felt safe in the area stayed and nice and quiet...Gives one a little bit different feel to an area when you connect with locals...
- doro (10/5): - Every wish will be done, very kind guestfamily. Calm surrounding with nice view and a little garden. Cooler and heating which is good in Dubrovnik. Busstation nearby. Walk downstairs is about 10 minutes to the beach. Supermarket and bakery within walking distance.Clean and renovated. Price very good. Wifi + and good TV for each country. Worth to stay and I will come back again another year.
- Stan (10/5): - All you need in the kitchen and more. The owner is nice. Small place but OK. Nice outdoor area. Close to the beach, little steep. Parking very tough. Bus stops close and so is the shopping for food and other items.
- Michael (10/5): Great value, clean comfortable and with parking. - Good location for us as we had a rental so parking was necessary. I have to agree with the recent reviews as our stay was very pleasant and comfortable. Steve was an excellent host and gave us some essential tips which helped us tremendously.
We walked to old town after arrival then used the Dubrovnik card which I strongly recommend if staying for 2-4 days.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice stay. Owner extremely helpful. Would stay again.
- SURINTORN (8/5): Budget hotel - Resonable price. The owner is kind. Good service. Good helps. We can contact before coming for picking up at the airport with resinable price. It is a little bit difficult to get to the hotel if we have big luggage.
- Daniel (8/5): Nice guesthouse in Dubrovnik - Had a great stay. Handy advice and help from the owners. Nice and clean room with good bed and wifi.
Can’t thank them enough for allowing us to stay in the room a bit longer as our boat didn’t sail till late in the day. Was nice to be able to freshen up.
Thanks again for a great stay.
- Devin (10/5): Great place to stay - Fantastic stay. Very very helpful owners.
- Giuseppe (8/5): - Free parking is street parking which can be challenging. Owners are very nice !!!
- Laura (10/5): Super Location W/ Basic Comfortable Accomodations - Great location away from the craziness of the old town. Convenient to lots of good restaurants as well as the #6 bus that takes you to old town.
Used Anna Guesthouse pick up service from airport which worked very well.
- Paula (10/5): Guest house makes you feel at home . - Very welcoming family. Mother offers fruits and drinks upon arrival and on our last night after a very tiring day tour she even
Gave us a free dinner delicious pork steak and watermelon dessert - Who would do that ! Son Stephen gave us tips for easy travel around and again Mother even called our next guesthouse To assure us that someone will pick us at the port of Korcula on arrival.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Satisfactory lodgings with very helpful staff. - We were very grateful for the helpful, warm family who own and serve there. Adequate accommodation at a reasonable price.
- Andrea (6/5): You get what you pay for! - Overall it wasn't bad, but there were a few things that were not as described. I was under the impression that I had reserved a room with kitchenette, and I was given a room with a microwave and a grilled cheese griddle. The hotel description says tempurpedic mattress, could not be more far from the truth. Also says onsite laundry, nope. It says tour booking assistance, they'll point on a map what area you can look for assistance. Location was close to bus stop, so easy to get around, but there are stairs, and a steep walk up about 8 minutes. The people were very very nice, but keep in mind the above when booking :)
- Heather (10/5): Lovely studio rooms with use of a secluded terrace - We had two studio rooms next door to each other with use of the terrace where we could sit and eat. Very quiet location within a 10 minute walk down to the beach, shops and restaurants. The rooms were clean with a small en-suite shower room. The studio rooms included a microwave, fridge, sink, toaster, kettle and two ring electric hob so good for making our own meals when we wanted to. Very comfortable beds and everything clean and tidy. We had fresh satsumas in each room and then the owner kindly gave us some lovely homemade apple dessert.
- John (6/5): - Had to ask for a top sheet and blanket. When we arrived only had bottom sheet for bed. Lots of extension wires for the kitchen accessories on the table. Was a very quiet neighborhood which was good.
Not easy to find using gps.
- David (10/5): Comfortable and spacious - We booked the design apartment which is next door to villa anna and owned by neighbours. The apartment is equipped with all you need and has a very modern feel. The location is up some steps from the main tourist area where there are many restaurants, shops, post office etc. The walk down to the sea is to the harbour in one direction where tour boats operate and a footpath past some pebble beaches and clubs in the other.
- Halina (8/5): A sweet place to stay - The room we stayed in had everything we needed and was part of the owners house. It's in a great location for getting to and from the old town. The apartment is also only a 3-5min walk into the centre of the new town where there are lots of restaurants and beaches. The owners of the apartment were really friendly and helpful - they made our stay much nicer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Get what you pay for. - Cash only even for an extended stay - pay in advance for card payment. Some staff extremely rude and inhospitable, others very kind and helpful. Apartment was as expected.
- Richard (10/5): Amazing hosts - The hosts were friendly and settled us into the apartment with drinks, snacks and loads of great advice on everything we needed to get the most out of our stay in Dubrovnik.
The apartment was well equipped and the sofa bed was comfortable. The wifi and a/c worked well and the apartment was clean and spacious. It was well situated for local restaurants with a 5-10 min walk down several flights of steps. At check-out, the hosts provided us with further advice on directions for our onward journey, even phoning a friend to check on traffic. The advice paid off and we had an excellent journey. Would highly recommend.
- Karli (10/5): - I can't speak highly enough of my stay at Anna Guesthouse. The owners were so warm and accommodating, even offering to pick me up from the bus station and making sure everything was comfortable. I had a private room which was extremely clean, so comfortable, and everything smelled amazing! The guesthouse is a 45 minute walk from both the bus station and the old town. There are also buses that run consistently and pick up outside the hotel. It was quiet and night which was great. Lapad beach is a 5 minute walk and so are beach restaurants and bars. Can't recommend this place enough! The owners are fantastic and the stay was perfect!
- Patricia (6/5): Away from Throngs of Tourists - The location was in a quiet, hilly neighborhood above Lapad. A nice restaurant and cafe walking street below. Close to a beach. The bus to Old Town is very convenient. My single room was clean. Bathroom had good hot water. Bring your own shampoo. Bed was comfortable enough. Manager took me to and from the bus station. He is a bit talkative but means to be helpful. No breakfast is available so you don't get to see any of the other guests. I was there three nights and never saw another guest. Good value for the price.
- Syed Ali (10/5): A fabulous stay - The guesthouse is located at a very convenient location to bus stop, shops and restaurants. I was given a very luxurious room which was a suit with kitchen, living room, bath room and a bed room in very nominal price. Stjepo, the owner, is very helpful and he picked me from the bus station for free and offered to drop at airport also. He goes out of the way to help his guests. I would certainly recommend this place for a price well paid off.
- Andy (8/5): Lovely hill top apartments - Nice apartment at the top of a hill with amenities a short distance away.
Lovely stroll down to the sea with resturants and bars galore.
Very chatty host, wanted to tell us everything before we'd even got our bags out of the car.
Do not follow Satnav to the apartment, it tries to take you up lots of steps!
- Stephen (10/5): Nice apartment with amazing day and night views - Great views from balcony, easy walk to transport, beach, cafes and harbour.
- karen (10/5): - Great guesthouse.
Very helpful owner.
Good AC and wifi. Good local information.
- George (8/5): Comfy, quiet, convenient for down town - We stayed for 3 nights and arrived very late on the first night from Split. Stjepo the host was understanding and greeted us on arrival regardless, top man! We drove and the GPS took us a weird route so beware! Best to go via main road past the roundabout and up the hill, then turn left up a mini slope. Bed was very comfy room setup was good with all kitchen essentials. One downer is there was no shower curtain which meant water sprayed everywhere. Bathroom was in need of a refresh I feel. But really enjoyed the stay in Dubrovnik!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Very interesting place! - The name of the hotel is also Villa Era. The building is new and in good condition. Aircondition is fine. Location is ok, but you have to take many many steps to get there. Bus stop is quite near.
Hotels.com said, cleaning everyday. It was once and we stayed 9 nights!!! Scheets changed once too!And we have to ask it many times. No reseption, the staff man was somewhere have to call by your own phone. No tikets anywhere. No microwave and kitchen thinks for example frying pan was very bad.One key.
The staff was friendly and funny, but he spoke one hour when he started about Kroatia or taxes or something. In the end it was hard to get receipt. You cant use bank card.He gave us the transport to airport cheap, maybe for excuse.
- Zivana (6/5): - Neighbourhood was fine and the hosts were friendly and helpful. It's just a bit too far from the old town. Was good because it had a parking. We had no view...
- rohit (8/5): Nice apartment, enjoyed our stay - overall, was a nice, comfortable stay, and the owner was very responsive to our requests. Minor niggles I would say, apartment was a bit far from old town, and the cooking stove exhaust was full of dirt. Owner can be very talkative at times, but is really friendly, and was kind enough to pick us up and drop us back to the bus stop to the airport
- Vaidas (10/5): The best stay during my holidays in 2014 - The best stay during my holidays in 2014. I couldn't believe that I got not only stay for only €30 per night but transfer from and in to bus station was included in the price. And owner of the property provided all information that any tourist would be required. And accommodation was nice, spacious double room with kitchen facilities, and shared terrace. By all means great place.
- Andrea (6/5): Rooms high on a Hill. - Large house converted into several rental rooms. I stayed in one of two lower floor rooms with kitchen facilities and a pleasant outside patio with table and chairs. Dividing walls rather thin thus did not get much rest due to noisy adjoining room guests.
Owner very helpful -going out of his way to oblige. Yes he was chatty but information given was beneficial for any tourist visiting for first time.
Locale is a little outside but close to beach promenade with plenty of bars and restaurants. However one needs to be fit as the house is at the top of a hill with some 60 steps leading up to it and rather difficult to navigate the quaint steep alley ways after dark.
- Lynda (10/5): Great place in a convenient location! - Fabulous place with a great host. Close to bus with a short distance to the old town. Host gives a lot of advice on how to make the most of your time there. Nice outdoor seating area by the garden. Would stay here again when I come back to Dubrovnik.
- anna (10/5): great location, great host - Would not hesitate to recommend. The host is a wealth of knowledge about visiting Dubrovnik.
- John-Paul (10/5): The Best Host! - We had a fantastic time in Dubrovnik - were really happy with the Anna guesthouse - and delighted to have such an enthusiastic and helpful host: Stjepo (Stevie). The recommendations were comprehensive and invaluable and the 'insider tips' made it easy to navigate the sea of tourists that descend on Dubrovnik on the late Summer - thanks man!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a great place to stay in Zadar. It is only a short bus ride away from all the sites. The apartment, a part of a large villa, is great, clean and spacious. The hosts were also very accommodating.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Eager to please - Rooms drastically need overhauling. Walls were a horrible pink colour that felt oppressive. Bed spread was hideous 70s monstrosity. Mattress desperately, desperately needed replacing - it was so soft I nearly rolled off it the first time I sat on it. Disappointing. Even if they just replaced the mattresses, bed spread and painted the walls a neutral colour it would make a huge difference. The mattress was biggest problem, but as I was on my own I could sleep in the middle of the double bed where it hadn't entirely lost any spring whatsoever yet.
Room equipped with microwave, fridge, and plastic cutlery/crockery. But no hairdryer because people steal them apparently (tho' you can borrow one if you go and ask for it).
Free bus station pick up / drop off when you arrive/leave. But you can't get their email address from expedia/their website. They emailed me a few days before I was due to arrive to arrange (was surprised they left it so late tho', other places contacted me much earlier).
Provided lots of good info on making most of visit, explained municipal buses and pointed out which stop to get off at for the b&b, went thru tourist map with me, pointed out supermarkets, explained best times to visit places to avoid crowds, etc. Very keen to provide info and advice, tho did talk quite a lot.
Location wasn't too bad once you know how/where municipal buses run. Short bus ride to old town, which is very simple, and the buses run late into night.
- The girls (10/5): Excellent accommodation and amazing value - Lovely clean apartments (we had two), well located for the lovely nearby beach and access to the old town. The manager collected us from the airport and was a source of excellent advice to improve our experience of Dubrovnik. Overall, this is very good accommodation which offers excellent value for money, with the added bonus of a very helpful and pleasant manager. Highly Recommended!
- bish (10/5): visiting Dubrovnic - The room was great with kitchenette and a lovely garden in front. It was a 5min walk to the bus stop of catch #6 to Pile gate. The staff was very helpful and always had moment to share some history or chat about the area. I will certainly stay there again on my next visit.
- fjq_original (8/5): Good price, good location, helpful host. - The accommodation was fine for a short stay when you are wanting to visit the city. Could be an idea to set up with warmer furnishings in the colder months. The host was very informative of the local area and responded very well to anything that came up. He is a friendly guy and likes to talk. The accommodation is about 30-40 minutes walk apparently to the old town but we drove as rain was forecast. There was a bus stop right near the apartments. For the price we paid, the accommodation was good value for Dubrovnik. No complaints. It was fine for what we needed. It was not easy to find the place. Look for Mostarska Ul. (street), not Velebitska which appears in the address on Hotels.com. Once on Mostarska, look for a building with a digital display (time, temperature, date). The apartments are opposite. The newer name of the accommodation is actually VILLA ERA not Anna Guesthouse. The newer name appears on the front of the building.
- Wally (4/5): Apartment not a hotel - Anna Guesthouse is an apartment not a hotel. There is no maid service. The air conditioner works marginally. I could not get the TV to work. It was difficult to get a hold of the manager. When I did, he did not show up as he said he would. I did not have use of the TV. If you are a family, this apartment allows you to cook meals. There is a stove with pots and pans and a small refrigerator. The place does not have a sign so finding it was difficult. Finally you have to pay in CASH. My debit card was blocked in Croatia. Check with your bank before you leave for Croatia. After an expensive phone call, I was able to access my debit card and get cash. Remember you must pay in CASH!!! I would not stay there again.
- Carrie (8/5): Lovely Stay in Dubrovnik - We chose this apartment based on good reviews and its cancellation policy as we were meeting friends and were not exact on their arrival time. "Stevie" was more than helpful both in telling us how to get around and in picking us up when we were lost and taking us to the ferry when we checked out. We would stay there again because of his hospitality. The apartment was very modern, clean and tidy and in a nice neighborhood. You will need to take a 10 min bus ride into Dubrovnik but buy a day pass and you will be set.
- Julie (10/5): Fantastic! - This is an excellent base for exploring Dubrovnik! Our apartment was spacious, clean and was equipped with everything we needed to cook our own meals. The wifi was great. Supermarket is nearby (uphill plus some steps on the way back, about 10 mins walk). The manager is very helpful and picked us up from the airport and then dropped us at the bus station on check-out. The bus stop to Old Town is around the corner and runs every 10 minutes or so. We'd definitely recommend this place to everyone!
- Martin (10/5): Greta place in Bar ! - Veyr friendly proprietor who was so very helpful in providing transport between the guesthouse and the town and railway station. I stayed on the upper floor and it was an excellent room with a lovely bath.
- Joanna (10/5): highly recommend - good location, friendly owner, room clean and modern. only thing missing was a mirror in the room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): No complaints - The host was lovely and provided us with a map and instructions on how to get to restaurants etc.
We caught a taxi from the airport which was really expensive. We were told when we got there that you can catch the bus from the airport and he would have provided a pick-up.
The room was modern and clean. The only disappointing thing was we booked a double bed and were given two singles.
Overall a nice place to stay.
- Kevin (8/5): Wonderful service - I enjoyed my stay at Anna Guesthouse, particularly the charm and superb help of Stjepo, the owner (He allows you to call him Steve). I send an email to him asking if he could pick me up from the main bus station to take me to the guesthouse, and he was there when I arrived. On the way to the guesthouse, he pointed out good places to eat near the location that would be cheaper than eating in the old town. He also took the time to show me a map of the area and mark down all the significant routes, and he explained what bus to use to get to the old time. On my day of departure he even got up to drive me back to the bus station at 4:30am!! Stjepo was fantastic. My main complaint is that in my room there was a tub with a handheld shower head but no curtain. I realize this is a fairly common situation in Europe, but for those used to having a curtain or a door to prevent water from escaping the shower area, it's a big change to have to be tactical while you bathe! :)
- Jay (10/5): A Place you should check out. - The owner was very helpful, friendly, and, he looks out for you. Where I stayed was only a five minute walk to the beach area. The price was reasonable, and the owner was super helpful. He made my stay a superb experience. They are very accommandating. :)
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location, never service - The owner seemed rushed and was not a ail able when problems occurred, e.g., when the WiFi service was not working or when we discovered that no soap was provided. An elderly couple who live in the building is responsible for maintenance. However, we were not introduced to them Neil we were about the depart. I doubt they would have been able to help with Internet service anyway.
- Edward (10/5): Best we were in - Cannot say enough of the room and in particular the Owner. Long Croatian name, but said just call me Steve. Absolutely super host. Initially hard to find from the bus station, ending up taking a cab to it. Once we got there, he was not there himself but one of his assistants let us into the room. Without a doubt, the largest and most comfortable room we had in our entire European trip. It was 30 degrees every day in Dubrovnik and we were very greatful for the air conditioning. The room was large and comfy, the free wifi worked great in the room and we had a little kitchenette, fully equiped. Once the Owner got there, he came up to visit us and spent time informing us on how to get around, gave us a little map, told us where to eat to avoid the high touristy prices and other valuable info. Super nice guy. He did a lot more for us but I promised not to write about it, else everyone would expect it. Lets just say that he made us feel very welcome and helped us immensly. His place was located quite high and it was a bit of a climb to get to the house, but that helped a bit to conteract all the beer we drank. Easy to get to the old town by bus, conveniently located near the promenade. Lots of shops and restaurants near. Even the grocery store. I would definately stay there again and as far as I was concerned, the best place to stay in Dubrovnik. I most definately recommend this to anyone going to visit Dubrovnik. Without a doubt, the most comfortable and enjoyable stay we had in our European vacation. Can't say enough.
