Guest Reviews
- Melanie (8/5): - This is a 3 star hotel, it was very clean , the room wasn’t huge but it was perfectly sufficient for two. The reception staff were very helpful and we didn’t pay until the morning we left. Breakfast was good, not a huge selection but certainly enough.
Metro station just a short walk away which served us well and the gare du nord was within walking distance. Would definitely recommend for a short stay.
- Peter (8/5): 2 night stay - We had a twin room on the 5th floor. Access was via a tiny 1 person only lift or stairs. The room was clean and cozy, with great views out onto the street. The road was fairly quiet, so noise wasn't a problem. The beds were comfortable, but I would have preferred a bigger more supportive pillow. the bathroom was a little small, but adequately equipped with shower toilet and basin The shower was powerful and hot, but the floor got very wet whilst showering Breakfast was included in our stay, and served from 07.30-10.00. on our first morning, my daughter and I went to breakfast at 07.45, only to find no tables available, only some high stools at the breakfast bar not really suitable for a child. The breakfast room clearly doesn't have enough seats available if too many people decide to go at the same time. Fortunately, a table soon became available and we moved. Due to the size and layout of the room, only a limited selection of food was available. 2 types of cereal, a few pastries, french bread, 2 cold meats, sliced cheese, wrapped cheese portions, pate, butter, yoghurt, juices, tea and coffee. But this was ok, and what was available was very nice. The service at the hotel was outstanding. Both reception and breakfast room staff, definitely made you feel very welcome. I would recommend this hotel for a couple of night stay in Paris. It is in a good location just 10 minutes walk from Gare du Nord station. And less than 5 minutes from metro line 7 Poissoniere
- Harris (10/5): - Very lovely lady at Front Desk
- Kamran (8/5): Very small hotel - The elevator is just for 1 person, breakfast is very simple, the walls of the rooms are almost from paper, it is good for 1-2 nights stay
- Milutin (8/5): Very pleasant stay - Very pleasant stay, friendly stuff, comfortable room for a 3 star hotel
- Deirdra (10/5): - The hotel was simple but clean and comfortable. Fairly close to the Metro. The staff was helpful and friendly.
- Wilson (10/5): - Good hotel
- Eleanor (10/5): - Staff are very helpful. Location is excellent.
- Natalie (6/5): - Older property. No air conditioning which we didn’t realise. First room was not clean at all but staff able to move us to a different room that was clean although found toe nails on the floor. Tiny bed that sagged in the middle, not comfortable for two people. Average breakfast. Staff generally
Polite and helpful
- Krista (10/5): - Beautiful old style Paris hotel. Lovely area very close to train station. A bit far from all attractions and sight seeing spots. Very friendly staff
- Gerta (8/5): Good value for one-night stay - Convenient location, immediate neighborhood area was pleasant and felt safe; well connected with public transportation. Hotel was clean but dated (benefit of this was historic bathroom design with ducks in wall tiles).
- CAROL (10/5): - A lovely hotel with newly renovated rooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Easy metro access to central Paris and a short walk from Gare du Nord. Le BB restaurant at the end of the street was very very good.
- Donald (8/5): Good location - The hotel a short walk from the Gare du Nord and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants in the area. The room was comfortable and reasonably spacious for Paris. Noise of other guests in the hallway was a bit of a nuisance.
- Janelle (10/5): - We had an amazing stay. Our room was very clean and the beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable. The staff was amazing, super kind and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. It feels like you are staying at a bed and breakfast. A nice family feel. Will be back for sure!
- Jacques (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay here. Room walls are thin, so you can hear everything next door, but fortunately, our neighbors were quiet. Breakfast was very good.
- Brent (10/5): - Friendly staff. Simple but clean accommodations. Excellent proximity to Nord, Est and St Laverne train station as well as several metro lines. Very nice breakfast.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Stayed in this hotel for the second time and they seemed to have remodeled from the last time I stayed in 2019. It is still clean and has bigger rooms though the charm of the lobby is no longer there.
- Juan (2/5): - From Expedia, ApplicationThis hotel offers parking availability, but there is no parking available at all, if you find a spot on the street, that's it. once I had my car Parked up front on the street at 2 am When we got there, the manager told us that we needed to move our car before 6 am or we will be fined by the city. But he also said to us that outsiders may break the windows in our car and steal if we had values inside the car. After those comments, my wife & I decided to run away from that scary place. Don't go there if you drive or if you don't. Also, the elevator fits only one person with one suitcase, it is so tyne. If you are sleeping on the 6th floor you have to walk up with your suitcases from 5th floor. It was our case. We decided to leave this place. The manager before letting us go, charged one more night after it was already paid for two nights via Expedia. We think Places like this should not be allowed to be in Expedia. Such a great Application should verify better before accepting places like this. We don't recommend this place at all. On top of that, if you have the chance to see a brochure of this hotel, like the ones they offer there, you may think that you will be getting to an excellent place. but believe us, this place is not.
- Hala (10/5): Great staff and location - The staff was very friendly and helpful. They went over and beyond our expectation filling our special needs. The location was great, within short walking distance of several metro stations. We plan to stay there again on our next trip
- Donald (8/5): Well located - The hotel is well placed for access to the Gare du Nord and local cafes and restaurants. The room was comfortable however there is minimal noise insulation between the rooms so that a noisy neighbour can cause problems.
- François (10/5): - Very clean, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It's Paris, so small rooms, but very charming and well-kept.
- juan (10/5): - Excellent service, good location to rail line.
- Robert (10/5): - The Residence du Pre was a great boutique hotel. Caroline and Faisel were very helpfule with our accomodations
- Susan (10/5): - A warm small hotel with friendly staff
- Selene (8/5): - The Residence is in a strategic and silent position. The structure is not modern but it is equipped with everything you need. The staff are very helpful and kind.
- Marin (10/5): - Although our room was a bit dated with carpet and the other rooms had tile we had a great experience. The hotel staff was attentive when cleaning to spite the explosion that was all of our stuff. They had great recommendations for food and were just very pleasant to deal with. The room was a great deal and bigger than our previous room in Paris.
If we get to go back we will definitely stay here again!!!
- John Buchan (10/5): Perfect location for a couple of nights in Paris - Good Paris hotel. Location perfect for Gare du Nord/Metro. Typical miniscule lift so travel light or be prepared to take several trips with your luggage! Some nice places to eat nearby.
- Marc (10/5): - This hotel is a very special one because of the staff friendliness, professional behavior, high quality support, very clean and close to transportation (Metro and Gare du Nord) and have a very special breakfast. I would like to thank all the team for their warm welcome and love. A bientôt.
- Douglas (10/5): - A well run hotel with great staff. The location is near the Poissonniere metro stop which gives a direct line the the Louvre and river tourist area. The smaller rooms on the 6th floor are tidy and comfortable, great for younger Paris tourists on a budget. We've stayed here twice, 8 years apart, and the experience has been positive both times.
- Rosie (8/5): Mid-week break - A great hotel perfect for a short-break. Stayed here for two nights and the room was great for a bed to sleep in. Very spacious and comfortable, good size bathroom too. Lift was VERY small, struggled to fit two people in (without luggage). Staircase close to room too. Would recommend to a friend and was very good for the price. The staff were friendly and could speak good English too which helped, great location central to a good Metro line.
- Marc (10/5): - Very nice cosy place with very sweet welcoming staff and always smiling and supporting. Many thanks
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked so much the friendly Caroline at the reception and the blond woman at the breakfast (did not know her name). They both were super professional and smiling
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very comfortable bedroom, everything clean and tidy. Good heating. Shower room clean and easy to use. Good location. Reception staff very helpful.
- Camila (10/5): Cute little Parisian stay - It’s a cute, small hotel in a great area. It’s a little far from the center of most touristy places, but that made it so much better for me. There are so many cafes and bars around, I felt like I got a real glimpse at the lives of Parisians. The service was absolutely marvelous. The night-time receptionist was so nice and welcoming and very helpful. He’s the best! The room was small but had all the necessities. Warning, there are stairs, which can be a little exhausting after a day of walking around Paris, but I didn’t really mind. I would stay here again, for sure! The only issue was access to public transportation, but that is not up to the hotel. Paris has been on strike for over a month and the station close to the hotel was closed a lot. Again, that’s not the hotel’s fault, and when things go back to normal it will be really accessible for guests to go to the downtown area.
- Beth (8/5): - Staff were incredible from start to finish, made our trip!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Location is good - Very convenient location. Will stay here again if visit Paris next time.
- Erik (10/5): - Great location and good hotel for the price. Room is a bit small, but that seems pretty common for Paris.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient, family-run hotel - This is a very conveniently located hotel, just minutes from the Gare du Nord and from a metro station. The hotel staff are welcoming and friendly, and the breakfast was good. The room was adequately appointed, although it lacked any tea/coffee-making facilities.
- Elle (6/5): - It had the old French charm and near the metro. Place needs to be renovated especially the dingy carpets and the shower room with no glass encasement nor curtain to stop the water from spilling over the floor. Staff were friendly and nice.
- Dustin (8/5): - Convenience, close to train station n restaurants. Quiet area. No curtain for showers. Water sprayed every where
The woman at checked in was not friendly
- Trevor (8/5): Nice hotel staff - The hotel staff where very nice. The room we had was newly decorated. The only thing that lets it down was no air con. It get warm in Paris and a fan is not good enough really.
I would recommend this hotel still and the location is good.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Hotel is a house of horrors lol. I’m not sure how to describe it. The room was small and smelly, the shower didn’t have a door so all the water spilled over to the floor, the elevator was tiny and so old that not even a petite person can fit, staff was unprofessional. Don’t stay here!
- YH (8/5): - très bon petit hôtel, transport facile avec métro linge 7. la quartier est tranquille, sécuritaire. il y a beaucoup de restaurants dans le coin.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My stay here was marked by the excellent service. All the staff I dealt with were friendly and extremely helpful. Accommodation itself was compact (standard for that level hotel) however was clean and was safe and accessible by walking to downtown Paris.
- MJo (10/5): - Great location! Right up the street from the metro! Clean and breakfast included!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My wife and I (from Auckland, New Zealand) really enjoyed our stay at the Residence du Pre. We were on level 6 - the nights were hot, we had a fan - had the windows open and it was great (France had a heat wave at the time we were there). The lift was something special and the breakfast was excellent.
We arrived at the Gar du Nord and had a 10 minute walk to the hotel which is in a really good location.
Down the end of the street were 2 local corner pubs which were GREAT. We recommend this hotel and would certainly stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely place to stay. The staff were very helpful, and the location was ideal for exploring Paris.
- NM (6/5): - Good location and helpful front desk. Room was basic - no a/c, outdated decor, tiny elevator made luggage transport challenging
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff and convenient for the Eurostar station
- G (8/5): - Good location, near restaurants and subways. Staff very friendly and accommodating and mostly spoke English. TV was very small and had almost no English shows. We got a larger room but it was still pretty small. No fridge or microwave. Wifi was good. Staff walked in on us despite the Do Not Disturb sign, but apologized profusely. Hotel lobby was nice. Small elevator.
- Steven (10/5): Incredibly friendly staff! - Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Was very conscious of not knowing ANY French and the staff immediately made us feel super welcome. They helped us book a ride to the airport and also got up special to make us coffee at 4AM before we left to the airport (at no charge!).
Showers were also great with good water pressure and heat.
- KWONG LIM (10/5): - very good . it is so unlucky that we met the pickpocker inside the metro which had stolen 300 Euro from my pockets. However, in here i shall be highly apprecaied the reception lady
named Caroline whom she had help us and advuce us the situation of Paris before we leave hotel. It is because of such, we put all passport and money
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel was OK. Booked a large room but was given a small. By the time I realised (when I saw the size of my colleagues room) it was too late to change. Breakfast is nothing special at all and on one day they ran out of croissant...in Paris!!! Very friendly staff though and very quiet rooms.
- Richar (10/5): - The room was not the largest but it was perfect for our few night stay. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff, an great location to explore the city and amazing value.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room was not the largest but it was perfect for our few night stay. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff, an great location to explore the city and amazing value.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Handy location & close to the subway. Walking distance to Montmartre & other Paris sights if you are a walker. Quiet room.
- Jenny (8/5): 10 minutes from Gare Nord - The hotel was located a short walk from the Gare Nord train station on a side street. We thought when we booked this would be a good thing, but it was a noisy street with vehicles speeding by, and pedestrians drinking and yelling late into the night. With the heat wave in Paris at the time and no air conditioning in the room, the room was sweltering hot, but because of the constant noise from the street, it was impossible to sleep with the window open. If you stay at this hotel, ask for a room that faces the courtyard so you don’t hear all the street noise. Otherwise, the hotel was great and breakfast was great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Convenient, clean, comfortable and a great hotel - This was an absolutely great choice to spend a few days in Paris. The staff was great, helpful and provided us with a converter for the socket (they have quite a few and all you have to do is ask the front desk). It's an old hotel (like most buildings in Paris), but it's been newly re-done and doesn't feel old at all. There's an incredibly small elevator, but there is one nonetheless. The area felt safe, with lots of cafes, boulangeries and patisseries close by, and a Carrefour nearby in case you need anything. It was also within a 10 minute walk from the Gare du Nord and there is a subway station within 5 minutes or so. Sacre Coeur is also a 10-15 minute walk. As far as breakfast, we didn't eat here. At $12 Euros per person I think you'd have better luck gobbling down Parisian patisserie specialties or try a local cafe's breakfast and have a very local breakfast. Overall, we'd gladly stay here again; great value, service and a comfortable stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice basic hotel close to Gare du Nord - Walking distance to Gare du Nord, with basic amenities. Quiet hotel, with lovely and helpful staff. Decor a bit dated but great if you’re looking for just a room.
- mircea (10/5): nice quiet, safe little hotel - clean room, nice size room , for single person in tween size bad , and I'm a big guy , safe , great breakfast, good value for your money !!!!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a good stay if you plan to walk around the city.
- Ann (10/5): - Great location to main train station and metro. Rooms were clean and at a good price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff is extraordinary, the breakfast is lovely, and we hand a truly wonderful stay. Recommended
- wendy a (10/5): Great views - Nice place lift only goes to 5 th floor I was on the 6 th but great views
- Michalis (10/5): Great hotel at a great location - Pros:
- Great hospitality - staff was very friendly and helpful with everything we needed.
- Hotel is at a great location near to Montmartre and underground station.
- Room was very clean and quite spacious.
Cons:
- Soundproofing was bad, we could even hear a man next door snoring.
- Even though there was no issue with us, there was no lift which may be inconvenient to some people.
Overall it was a great experience at a great price. I highly recommend it and I would gladly stay there again.
- J (8/5): - Nice welcoming hotel, excellent for the price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hotel very nice, easy access to Metro. The woman at desk was extremely helpful and nice!!
- Kayla (6/5): - The location is very convenient. Close to train station and subway station. Easy commute to airport. Lots of restaurants in the neighbourhood. There are stores to buy water and snacks.
- Min (10/5): - The service is very nice and warmly
- djahid (8/5): - good hotel and very friendly service
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hotel staff spoke English, German and French, which was super helpful! They were very friendly. The room was clean and the bathroom was well lit. The rooms are not huge, but I mean, it's in an old building in an old city...rooms are hardly ever big.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice stay for a budget hotel. Excellent location close to metro
- Verified traveler (8/5): charming hotel in typical Paris neighbourhood, but - Was only there overnight to meet relatives and to transition out of France. So my experience was limited
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Easy check in, very helpful staff, nice breakfast, good location
- Mihael (10/5): - A great value for money and friendly and helpfull staff!
- Helen (8/5): - Clean, comfortable hotel, on quiet road within walking distance of Gare du Nord.
- Veronica (8/5): Short stay - Friendly staff, clean and comfortable for a short stay. Local area ok, cafe and bars ok.
- B (10/5): Great location, fantastic staff - My daughter and I spent two nights here. We were greeted by friendly staff and had a wonderful two nights in a quiet and comfortable twin room. The decor is a little dated, but the room was spotless and location just great (10min for Gard du Nord).
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel. Room was comfortable. Shower was the only downer as there was no shower curtain to prevent rest of bathroom wet.
- Devakumar (8/5): - Room kept tidy and clean, amenities were good. Breakfast was ok, not much variety for the price and the service was not up to the mark.
- rachel (8/5): Kind and professional staff - Close to Monmarttre and bus stop. The location looked safe and quiet rather than other hotels which are very near to the metro or traib station. Elevator was to small so full with just 2 adults. The staffs were so helpful and kind. My credit card was stopped just a few days before arrival but they did not care and show me trust. And the last day in Paris, I did not know there was few RER service because of strike. The staff let me know that and helped me to take a taxi to reach airport on time. Even though it was so early morning, he was kind and did his best. If they have let me know the metro strike the day before departure, I should had booked cheaper shuttle bus instead of expensive taxi. But it was more important for me to reach airport on time with my child without confusion. The staff let us have early breakfast in apology. So I thank the staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great spot for a quick weekend getaway - The friendliness of the staff is unparalleled to even resorts I've stayed at. I never expected such pride, enthusiasm and courtesy as I received at the Residence du Pre. Great experience overall. Rooms aren't that big but that's Europe. Not that I watched it much but a little bigger TV would have been nice and maybe smaller keys ;-)
Overall I highly recommend staying here especially if you want to be close to the station (Gare du Nord) and still be walking distance to Montmartre and Galerie Lafayette.
- Sarita (8/5): - Great value- fab customer service and really good breakfast- would not hesitate to stay again. Great access- 7 mins walk from gare du nord.
- Sarah (10/5): Perfect Parisian spot - For the money this is the best hotel I have stayed in Paris. It was clean, comfortable bed and good hot showers. Location was central; close to metro, train station and tourist sites. Lots of food options close by. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful and always available when I needed them. Breakfast was extra but the best value you will find.
My only hesitation about recommending this hotel is it will make it more popular and therefore more difficult to book.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The worst experience I ever had. I didn'n felt welcomed. No service at all from the staff at the reception desk.It was like he was doing big favour to talk to us. His attitude was unacceptable. I will never come back to this hotel
- Raina (8/5): Good service and friendly staff - The staff are nice and friendly. The front staff is also accommodating to the needs of customers. We had an early check out and can leave our luggage safely with the hotel. Breakfast is also good.
- Kaitlin (8/5): - We had a great stay at the Residence du Pre! Out of my traveling party, I arrived first and was able to check in. I explained that my sister would be arriving in a few hours to meet me, and they assured me that they would have a second key for her, which they did! The room was spacious and clean with two twin beds that were clean and comfortable. As other reviewers have noted, the elevator only holds one person and a suitcase and the shower does not have a curtain on it, but these things didn't really seem to matter. Reception was great at check-out as well. I was able to check out and pay for the room but they allowed my sister to stay in the room until the official check-out time. When she was ready to leave, they kept her bags at reception free of charge so she could explore Paris on her last day. In the evening when she came back to collect her bags and catch her bus, they let her use their restroom in the lobby and charge her phone for a few minutes. Really a great experience for a wonderful weekend in Paris!
- jess (8/5): Friendly staff and good location - Basic room and hotel but meets all your needs. Rooms are very clean and bed is comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would stay again!!
- Kimberly (8/5): - the place was clean but dated.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Wear ear plugs. - Unbelievably noisy. When the occupants in the next door rooms it sounded like gushing water was pouring down next to my head. No one can sleep as though they are next to a dishwasher. Every knock or brush against the wall was heard. Too annoying. The bathroom needed a fan to reduce the humidity that is leading to the mould. The carpet could do with a clean too. 3 stars. I don't think so.
- Verified traveler (2/5): 4 out of 5 ?! You must be joking ! - Stone cold reception when I checked in, no "Bonjour" nor smile. Reluctant to give me any information on the time of breakfast or where to go and password for Wifi. The Wifi service is almost non-existent. At breakfast, the attendants were nowhere to be seen. Every morning, I had to go to the small kitchen and ask for café au lait. They were having a "tea break". The last morning, the waitress brought me a jug of milk and a pot of hot water. The night porter was rude and cheeky. He had a nerve to beg for a cigarette. The last night of the stay, I came back to the hotel just after 11pm. The night porter was nowhere to be seen although the front door was unlocked. 4 keys were put on the reception counter that anybody could see. Anybody could have walked in and picked up one of the keys ! (In theory, I could pick up two keys and pay a visit to the other guest's room...) No security conscience. This is the worst hotel that I've ever stayed in my entire life. Did I just have a bad luck....? I'll never set my foot in this hotel ever again.
- Mendel (2/5): - Hello. I would like to share with you that even the fact that I received a booking confirmation in the app and by mail, I have been refused by the hotel because they were overbooked. I had to go to someone I know in Paris at 23:30. You can imagine the feeling...
Unfortunately i’m Really disappointed.

- Ahmed (8/5): Close to Gare De Nord - Nice hotel - very close from metro and bus station- but no curtain in shower area which is creating a mess
- Ann (8/5): Very good value for price paid... - Wonderful staff, polite and eager to assist. At the ready with maps, directions and suggestions. Interior is a bit dated but clean. The room I was assigned was a good size with two single beds. Bathroom was clean. Towels were ok but bed linens were superb, great quality. On the downside; walls between rooms are paper this. My next door neighbors were constantly on the phone, which they placed on speaker. I could hear every word of both sides on their conversations. Fortunately, they turned in early so noise wasn’t an issue at night.
- Jinky (8/5): Outstanding Value - Will definitely recommend. Easy access to transport network
- Maria (10/5): Highly recommended - Convenient quiet location, friendly staff, pleasant experience
- Nevine (10/5): Will stay there whenever I go to Paris - Great hotel. Very clean. Very dependable Wifi. Great location close to restaurants, gare du nord, Monoprix supermarket, and Metro station. French breakfast with croissant, juices, coffee, tea, different kinds of cheese and deli. Definitely will stay there again.
- Mary Grace (10/5): Cheap but comfortable, great location - We stayed in a room for 3. It's very comfortable despite looking old. It was spacious enough for the 3 of us as there were still space to walk around even if all our luggages were open on the floor. Perfect for travellers who are on a budget and wants a nice place to stay. Near shops, cafe, bus stops and metro. Staff was also very helpful. Would definitely stay here again on our next visit!
- Christina (10/5): Great Area - The hotel was very friendly and quaint! Small but nice.
- Christian (10/5): A clean comfortable gem in Paris - Upon arrival I was given a very warm welcome from the owners. I arrived a few hours early but they arranged for an early check. The front desk team were always very kind and professional and always offering to assist with any questions. The room was clean, comfortable and in a location between Metro stations (Cadet and Poissonniere; each less than a 5 minute walk away) and a major train station (Gare du Nord just 10 min walk away). A breakfast with good variety was made available every morning. A nice plus was the addition of an elevator in this classic vintage hotel.
