Guest Reviews
- Cindy (4/5): - Over priced
- Alan (10/5): - Small but nice rooms with a little balcony overlooking the interior courtyard. Ground floor covered courtyard a pretty spot for breakfast or dinner. Thai town is around the corner. Griffith Park a short walk away.
- Caleb (10/5): - The staff and the service was first class!!!!
- Simone (10/5): - Loved my stay
- Raylin (8/5): - Main picture is misleading because it makes it look like there is a pool but there’s not. And there’s no elevator making lugging bags more of a hassle. Otherwise it was very clean and the staff were nice.
- Erica (10/5): A great find - The Cara was a lovely oasis tucked away in East Hollywood. The rooms were simple but chic, quiet and comfortable, with a nice balcony to enjoy a morning coffee overlooking a gorgeous courtyard. Had breakfast and dinner here and both meals were delicious and staff attentive. I'll definitely be staying here again.
- Cameron (10/5): - I love the terrace by the pool for brunch
- pamela (10/5): - Beautiful hotel, especially in the evening
The food is great, but you should know it looks like there’s a pool, but it is not a pool. It is just a water feature.
- mihran (10/5): - F
- Natalie (10/5): - Amazing staff and service
- Jarred (10/5): - Easy checkin process, comfortable room
- Earline (10/5): - Great
- pamela (10/5): Hip trendy & a bit loud - The hotel is beautiful and the staff is great! It’s very pretty at night to relax in the patio but you should know it is a popular spot for people to come have dinner and drink drinks. So it can be pretty crowded, and a bit loud even in your room because of the courtyard.
ALSO: note that is not a pool in the middle!
We thought we were checking into a hotel that had a pool to relax by and take a swim, but it is really a very shallow water feature
- Dennis (4/5): - Let me preferences review by saying this the very first one I've ever done in a matter like this simply because of my atrocious experience specifically with the service at this hotels open now near me
- Ann Kristin (10/5): 5 stars!!! - 5 stars all the way around!! Beautiful hotel and friendly helpful staff. Missing a pool, but we were going to the Greek Theater for a concert, only a 7 min short ride away! Highly recommend!
- Michael (10/5): - Great oasis in the middle of Hollywood.
- KANTI (10/5): - Wonderful hidden gem in Los feliz
. Staff wonderful , room cozy
- Greer (10/5): - Great stay!
- Angela (10/5): - Fantastic!!!
- Lorie (10/5): - The food was excellent. Enjoyed the scallops at dinner and the fresh fruit on the chia pudding. My husband had the mushroom omelet and it was delicious at brunch. The bar was cool. Easy check in and check out.
- Ruby (10/5): - Great location! Staff is awesome!
- PHIL (6/5): - Running a boutique high end hotel in the second largest city in the US is hard, especially when your competition is famous international hotel brands.
The Cara Hotel falls short of the high expectations of its guests by repeatedly failing on basic needs and expectations.
My wife and I spent last weekend in the hotel while visiting family in town. This was our second stay.
The rooms are small, and as a result no complimentary coffee or small bottles of water are available in the room. This is frustrating for East Coast travelers who wake up early to find out no coffee or food service is available in the lobby until 7AM—making it necessary to walk 5 blocks to Starbucks.
During our recent stay, housekeeping took our towels and did not replace them, nor did they empty our trash containers. We came back to the room wanting to shower, but had to wait until replacement towels were located.
During our previous stay, we made reservations for 4 to entertain family for a special occasion. We were seated 45 minutes late after some beautiful people were seated before us. It wasn’t clear whether the restaurant had overbooked or just bumped us despite our having a reservation. We did not eat at the restaurant during our recent trip.
- Dina (10/5): - Beautiful oasis! Loved my stay. Just didn’t venture out because the area seems a little off putting.
- John (10/5): Lovely Stay - My girlfriend and I checked in a couple of days ago and immediately fell in love with the hotel. It’s a beautiful boutique hotel that is very close to the Hollywood Bowl and Universal Studios. The restaurant had delicious food and great drinks. They play good music and have a cute decorative pool. Our room was well kept and had everything we needed. The bed was as comfortable and we absolutely loved the little balcony overlooking the restaurant/courtyard,
- David (8/5): - Staff very helpful overall good experience.
- Deirdre (8/5): - Beautiful decor
- Adriana (10/5): - Food is excellent. Any meal we had there was very good. Service is a little slow
but other than that we really like it!
The bed was not as comfy as the first time we were there 2 years ago :(
The mattress needs to be refreshed. One side was deeper than the other.
- Andrew David (10/5): - Loved almost everything from the staff interactions to the lovely dinner and breakfast served at their restaurant. Areas a little rough to get find at first, but once called we were directed to the front for valet. Gets my stamp of approval .
- Bruno (10/5): - Very close to Griffith Park , great atmosphere
- Glenn (8/5): - N/a
- Jacab (8/5): - The stay at the Cara was nice however I think they need to update the pictures and clearly denote they do not have a pool.
- Jessica (10/5): - What a hidden gem!! We loved it!!!
- Nicky (2/5): - Need a refund for Cara hotel
- Gamaliel (10/5): - Well appointment nicely decorated rooms, welcoming atmosphere. Excellent customer service. Friendly staff.
- Todd (10/5): - Friendly staff. Very accommodating.
- Kristin (10/5): Fun LA spot - The Cara was a small but well curated property. The staff was friendly and the restaurant very tasty. We loved the pillows/bedding in the room. Great location
- Daniel (8/5): - Four night stay was comfortable with excellent service and pleasant menu options offering a peaceful breakfast oasis
- Johanna (10/5): - Lovely hotel. Room was beautiful and comfortable. Staff very nice. Bar had good cocktails and the patio was very pleasant. Valet parking was reasonably priced and convenient. A nice relaxing stay. We were upgraded to a courtyard room from a snug, which was nice as it seemed a good deal more spacious. It’s also a terrific location if you want to be near Thai Town/Los Feliz/Silver Lake or Griffith Park. Only caveat is courtyard rooms open right onto the restaurant, so there’s normal restaurant noise. It didn’t bother us but if you wanted to go to sleep early or sleep in late it could be an issue.
- Lisa (10/5): - Comfortable bed and room. Good location. Liked having the secured parking. Only drawback: no coffee in the room for the morning and nothing available as we departed before 7 am.
- sk (8/5): - When making a booking, consider requesting specific needs. The dining area was too close to my room, with tables only about four feet from my door, which made my early evening a bit uncomfortable. The 7:00 a.m. kitchen wake-up was manageable given my schedule. I will stay again.
- Sydney (8/5): - Great stay, loved it. I wish the bed sheets and towels were a bit softer though. Valet cost was high considering there was no self park option.
As well, there was a hair not belonging to us upon entering our bathroom and a brown stain that seemed to be from someone’s period. These were small blemishes but still, not nice to see.
- jadranka (10/5): - Loved it
- Kristin (10/5): - Thanks so much! We will be back again!
- MIKAL (8/5): - Close to Greek Theatre
- Vincent (10/5): Unexpected Oasis - Staycation in Hollywood, had no idea this oasis existed on Western Avenue! Very attentive staff, and a good dining area. Gonna go back for dinner
- sarah (10/5): 10/10 - It’s was a beautiful hotel, very convenient for us, would definitely recommend. The courtyard / restaurant is gorgeous and the staff were so welcoming and nice. Amazing experience!
- Cheryl (10/5): - Nice room but very noisy venue on a Saturday night- I asked for and was given a quieter room.
- Nakhle (10/5): - 😊
- Wesleigh (10/5): Best hotel every time - It always feels like home here. Malaika at the front desk is sunshine embodied and made sure I always had what I needed. The staff is so considerate and the food here is good every time. I can’t wait to be back!!
- Fang (10/5): - Very unique style hotel
- Maria (8/5): - It’s very close to Griffin Park to unwind after busy day and it’s a small hotel. It has a fun vibe, it can be busy for happy hour if you room is out the patio by the pool and u opened windows but it’s a happy not loud. Loved the ease of checking, enjoyed a cappuccino in the quiet morning and in a second would book again.
- PETER (10/5): - Great place with a hip vibe.
- Ben (10/5): - Friendly staff and walking distance to the Greek Theater
- Frank (10/5): - Graet location and vibe. Gpod food
- Brenda (10/5): - Boutique hotel in hollywood that is close to everything
The staff is over the top exceptional!
- Ewan (10/5): Los Feliz paradise. - Fantastic hotel. Small but comfortable rooms. Courtyard is an upscale restaurant with great food and pretty reasonable prices. The bar is great. Thankyou Kaitlin for pouring some excellent cocktails. Please be aware that the pool is not a swimming pool which is the only downside I felt. For the money you are paying I did expect a pool. I would stay again though.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our room was kept clean throughout our entire stay! It is a lot smaller than I had imagined, but the beauty of everything is accurate. The courtyard is absolutely gorgeous both day and night, very relaxing vibe. The entire team/staff is very friendly and accommodating as well. Great stay overall!
- Diana (10/5): - It was very cozy and chic, and around good hot spots. Planning my next trip VERY SOON!
- Andrew (8/5): - Great staff! The room was so small though, there’s not enough room for two people to comfortably stay in the room. The hotel bar was nice.
- Lesley (10/5): - close to SAPP coffee house, great pasta in the hotel restaurant and plays great music, beautiful bathroom downstairs
- Bob (10/5): Cara - Everything here is fantastic, especially the service!!!! Can’t say enough great things about this place!!! Came twice, and will be back in the future.
- Nandika (10/5): - Excellent service and very helpful staff
- Pooneh (4/5): - The mangers at this hotel were bribed to watch me and monitor my room & me. I went there to protect myself. Domestic violence getaway! Turned ugly. Can not trust them.
- Howard (8/5): - Excellent facility and superior staff.
- Hsu-Nan Eric (2/5): - The photos look amazing but in person the interior renovations look very beat up, old, and not well designed. We booked the higher tier room with balcony on the 2nd level with courtyard views. Bathroom is small, has poor water pressure and no power outlet; also not the cleanest. Room itself is small and has little space for luggage. The restaurant at the hotel is noisy all the way to midnight. Poor sound-proofing. We were lucky we were staying at this hotel for just 1 night out of our 5 day vacation and 1 night was about all we could stand. The hotel staffs were great and friendly but the hotel isn't comfortable.
- Christophe (10/5): - loved it
- Pinpong (10/5): - Everything is so good , i like it and i will back again
- Tyler (10/5): - Staff was very friendly, hotel was clean, and location was great!
- julie (10/5): - Great design
Just a little noisy as all rooms are open to atrium
- Rochelle (10/5): - I love it! I’ll go back!
- Miri (10/5): - It was an amazing stay. Superb location, service and vibes.
- Leah M (10/5): - Loved it!
- Stephen (8/5): - Nice hotel although the neighborhood is not exactly upscale. Rooms are comfortable but on the small side. Evening activities create some noise issues.
- Julie (10/5): - The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The room was so nice and the outside dining area was special. I would highly recommend this property for stays near Hollywood and Los Feliz nature trail. We loved our hike to the Observatory, too.
- Edwardo (10/5): - Highly recommend
- Thomas (6/5): - Lovely hotel however incredibly noisy. Bar and restaurant load until well after midnight.
Very difficult to sleep
- Abhinav (10/5): - Great place really nice
- Cathleen (10/5): - Hotel was gorgeous, clean and safe. Received exemplary service from professional staff.
Area around the property rated average because all of Los Angeles is gross.
- Gulm (4/5): - This place is a combination of a restaurant and a hotel, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to have been designed with the comfort of hotel guests in mind. The hotel rooms are located next to the restaurant tables, so you can hear customers talking and background music until midnight, making it difficult to sleep.
Also, the room is poorly soundproofed, we could hear our roommates talking.
- Marco (10/5): - A hidden gem with a relaxing atmosphere.
- Mettassebia (6/5): - Area around hotel was lacking, hotel seemed to be out of place
Overall good stay
- Kathrine (10/5): - The Cara was beautiful and had a really swanky vibe. Our room was a bit troublesome, with only hot water and no cold water, and our A/C didn’t cool properly. The staff couldn’t really fix it, although they tried. They did compensate us for the heat and inconvenience. The bar was cool and had a lovely outdoor area, great for photos with all the lush greenery. Brunch was great.
- Elina (8/5): - So this is a very cool hotel. Well designed. Beautiful. But some big misses. No outlets in rooms to plug in phone and devices. And the big issue. No coffee until 7!!! I had to Uber eats Starbucks. For paying 500 a room this was inexcusable!! And I had to make it to a morning TV show. Put coffee machines in the rooms !
- Robin (10/5): - A great small hotel, very trendy feel about it. Staff were brilliant all round with special mention for Brian on the front of house team - he always seems to be in the “right place, right time” when we needed assistance.
Area feels run down and a bit seedy, but that’s Hollywood I guess!
- Pati (10/5): - Inside is beautiful and the staff wonderful.
- Sara (10/5): - The staff made us feel like we were family or guests inn their home. Incredible service. Beautiful hotel. Excellent experience. Wish we could have stayed longer.
- Cruz (10/5): - Lovely staff
- Kevin (10/5): - Great stay. Staff is very kind and helpful. The hotel is close to The Greek theater. Which was perfect for us to get a Lyft to and from the concert. Would stay here again if we are in the area.
- Frank S. (10/5): - Great place would recommend
- Robert (10/5): - Great experience, staff above average
- Rena (10/5): - Very unique property with excellent staff and good options. Clean
- Will (10/5): - The Cara is a hidden gem.
Service here is exceptional at every level.
- Robert (10/5): - Feels like an old friend
- Renee (10/5): - This place is a hidden gem, an oasis in East Hollywood. It is one of the nicest hotels, we've stayed at. Lovely, caring staff, immaculate rooms, beautiful aesthetics. You walk in from the busier street and feel transported to a villa.
Thank you~
- Cherysa (10/5): - The team at CARA are attentive, professional, and personable. We had a remarkable experience from the time we entered the property until the moment we drove away. The restaurant is excellent and the property is stylish and calming. We are so looking forward to returning.
- Dewi (10/5): - Peaceful, hip, fun place to stay. Great staff. Will stay again!
- Emone (10/5): One Night at Cara - Beautiful hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Loved hanging out on the balcony above the gorgeous courtyard.
- Jordan (10/5): - Amazing space and wonderful atmosphere
- John (10/5): Cara hotel Aug 24 - Interesting drive up and entry was a little hard to find from the street. Very close to Greek theatre and Griffith Park. Beautiful, boutique style hotel. Excellent and comfortable room, just a little small, but convenient, right next to pool and outdoor dining area. Excellent restaurant and bar. Minor complaints: bartender wasn’t really friendly at all (but the bar back Noland was great), and music was a bit too loud. Corkage fee at restaurant was exorbitant ($60), double to triple what I’ve paid at other nice restaurants.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - I totally love this hotel … I will definitely come back
