Guest Reviews
- Henry Joy (10/5): - Nice
- Maria (2/5): - As soon as we walked into the hotel the strong smell of cigarettes takes over your nose. The desk agent informed us that the hotel was smoke free which I assumed they changed the policy that day.
Once we were given our room as soon as we stepped into the room I stepped on a roach. I thought okay this wasn't going to work. My husband had to use the bathroom when he lifted the toilet seat the lid twisted off the base. The toilet filled up very loud. I watched roaches crawl from under the bed, on the dresser, on the sink, on wall and from behind the headboard of bed.
I sat in a chair until morning, we had no other place to stay since our flight was cancelled we ended up here because it was close to the airport and Expedia rating wasn't too bad. Our flight was cancelled for 2 days this hotel was so horrible we decided to sleep at the airport for a day than stay another night here.
- Davinder (4/5): - No room service
- Hossein (2/5): - I have never been in such a Dirty hotel
- Abbas (8/5): Nice Hotel - Very well placed hotel near to the metro, rooms were clean and service was good as well. Breakfast was good too.
- KhandanRezvanne (8/5): - Location was near the airport, so it was easy to get to the hotel and go to the airport. It was also in the middle of the nice businesses.
- Veeraj (8/5): - place was good, rooms were good and spacious and very nicely furnished. room service was good.
But what i dint like about the managenent was, the room service lady had entered our room in our absence using her access card. our door was open, and she was cleaning the bed as we entered. we had our valuables in the room. it is not right for the staff to get into the room without our permission.
overall experience was great. totally worth it for the price.
- Gentry (10/5): - Always a pleasure to stay at this location
- Abdulhamid (8/5): Great location 👍 - In d heart of the city,
- Verified traveler (6/5): Dirty - The room was really dirty and the fridge did not work. There were so many stains on the walls and mirror.
- Sunna (10/5): - Very friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I like the way that receptionist welcomed me once I boarded in , specially the front desk girl ( was very skilled ) and one guy
- Verified traveler (2/5): - receptionists very tough very pompous ,,they did not know how to deal with clients ,,it is very bad experience i will never vist this hotel again and please do not send any clients their again
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Do not stay at this hotel. Not good at all... pictures are deceiving.
- Joseph (4/5): - On arrival went to the bedroom it smells of cigarettes so we called reception as we booked none smoking room, a staff member came and spray the room with air freshener. They are clubs in the hotel that made sleeping difficult for us, towels were old and hard to use on your skin. Breakfast was horrible I had toast and tea and portion of fruit the whole time I was there. The staff attending the dining room don’t clean tables and change table clothes after use. The reception and butlers were very help and the handy man good. Will not recommend this place with young family
- Zia (6/5): Zia USA - There were music playing all night and can heard in side bed room in 5th floor
- Zia (8/5): - I have great time. Good service and close to metro station.
- Tim (8/5): Hotel is good, local area is ok. - Pretty good Hotel near a subway station and several restaurants but not much else in the area. There are three clubs in the hotel along with a restaurant and bar. It works for something cheap to midrange in Dubai.
- Cherry (10/5): Nice hotel close to City n near to Al Rigga Metro. - Staff were very friendly and helpful. I felt comfortable and welcomed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - it was good overall but the breakfast was monotonous, no variety. The same thing everyday for 10 days. Need to work on having varieties in the breakfast. it was tiring after a while. will appreciate improvement on next stay.
- SAM (4/5): CLOSE TO MAIN AL RIGGA ROAD - TERIBBLE AT NIGHT
VERY NOISY AFTER 11 PM
LOUD MUSIC AND DANCING TILL EARLY MORNING
STAFF AT RECEPTION ARE UN HELPFUL
BEAKFAST VERY FEW ITEMS.OPENED BUTTER,NO FRIUTS,TOMATTOS AND FINELY CUT GREEN PEPPER!
YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR TEA BAGS
ASK FOR MILK AT TIMES
CUTTLERS WERE NOT CLEAN
- Pat (6/5): Was ok to see a different side to Dubai . - We were on 5th floor and could still hear the nightclub on 1st floor until 3am , then woken up again around 4am by local mosque calling . Breakfast served in function room , serving dishes on set up makeshift table .
Breakfast not good , not even basic cornflakes , only cereal offered muesli ,.
Swimming pool ok , 9-5pm - could be open longer . separate sauna / steam room in changing rooms for male / female , not even turned on .
The whole place / decor carpets / curtains is dark and depressing .
- Verified traveler (6/5): Satisfactory - Housekeeping and bellboys were very helpful and accommodating. Lady receptionist was a bit abrupt and did not give general information about hotel until we inquired about these. She did not even inform us that we left an identification card in the reception. Fortunately I checked the next day and found out an ID was missing.
Room comfort and cleanliness is satisfactory.
If you're looking for an inexpensive hotel that is close to everything like the metro station, malls and restaurants, this place is worth considering. If you don't mind the noise of the club that can be heard from the ground floor up to the second floor until well past midnight. It was really loud.
- Ahmed (8/5): good budget hotel - It was good
- mohammed (8/5): Good location - Good location but the restaurant staff could do with some customer services training.
- Thomas (10/5): Great Stay & Wonderful Staff - I stayed for a week and I have no complaints about anything. This was my 5th stay with the Sun and Sands and each time has been a pleasant stay. The staff always greets me with a smile and helpful with any questions or request I might have. The Metro is steps away and stores and places to eat are just down the street. The clubs are a good place to relax and have a drink or two or maybe three LOL
- Syed Ahsan Ali (8/5): it was good stay - rooms were clean and check in was quick and bell boy and other services were good. 4 to 5 items were in buffet breakfast.metro was near.only thing that matter in Dubai hotels is night club so hotels should use separate elevator or entrance for hotel guests and club customer
- Tarmo (6/5): Nothing special - Adequate hotel, but nothing impressive. Location was good - close to the airport and easy axcess to metro. Staff was helpful. Negatives: rooms were shabby, breakfast poor, the pool out of order.
- fayden (6/5): Good location, fine for the price - Free parking, two English language channels (CNN -gag and one movie one. Swimming pool closes at 5pm, noist disco even up to floor 6. You have to ask for a coffee pot. Didn't have breakfast with my $60 rate. Good location 2½ blocks from Al Rigga metro. Fine for the price.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Budget-minded hotel, wonderful staff & location - I needed a place to stay for one night after arriving from the airport. The location of the hotel could not be better. It is very close to the metro, and the off-street parking also makes it very convenient for those who've rented a car. The staff were very friendly and provided complimentary fruit juice on check-in. The room rate was very reasonable, so I was delighted at the level of service provided by the staff. The condition of the room was as-expected for the price. However, the bathroom was in need of more thorough cleaning, and the street noise was excessive.
Overall, this hotel is not for pampered Western tourists, but it is a good budget-minded option for seasoned travelers and those not sensitive to noise and odors.
- Shravan (8/5): Convenient - Good
- Martin (10/5): - My stay was fantastic, thank you.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very very nice staff complement your great stay
- Verified traveler (6/5): music noise - some noise of the clubs.
- sheharyar (4/5): Value oriented offering - This is a low budget hotel, in the heart of an immigrant neighborhood.
The hotel is overloaded of an Arabic perfume and is overbearing.
Night clubs inside the hotel and in every other surrounding hotel.
- Majed (8/5): sleep and go - clean room, good for relax and go
- Mahmud (2/5): Bad experience - This hotel so noise don't booked this hotel if you want to sleep better you sleep in the street dann this hotel and so dirty all room connected together in this hotel so you can hear the neighbor like they are inside your room l don't recommended
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The hotel was okay overall, however they need to improve their facilities, my room was clean but it was smelling of smoke, they should have been a no smoking policy in rooms.
- gucci (10/5): Close to shops and supermarkets - I was sad to leave that day...i didnt want my holiday to end the staffs are so nice amazing cistomer service tgey were always there to help me to put my sim card on my foon to connect me to kfc or pizza hut or buy me voucher from outside they were gooooooooood i am defently comming back
- Debra (4/5): Convenient - Room was clean although very tatty Needs an update. Staff friendly. You will definitely not get any sleep until night club closes at 2.30am or just after.
- Cherelyn (6/5): It was ok for me. - place was accessible to Metro Stn going to diffrent Malls.
I just thought kettle was provided un the room since it was included in the facilities.
Overall if you're looking for a cheaper hotel to stay for atleast 2-3 days. I would recommend
- Jaime Jr (6/5): Value for money - Value for money
- Verified traveler (2/5): Got no sleep - The hotel has 2 night clubs so if you value your sleep its too noisy till 3am. Even on the top floor the noise travels through the stairwells. And in the evenings the lobby and hotel is too busy with all the nightlife people.
So not a suitable family hotel.
- Syed rafat (6/5): Good - very economical with comfort
- shahbaz (10/5): Excellent stay - Staff really helpful from the time of check in to check out stay was exellent . I would recomend to everyone . Good value for money . We were 8 in a family all enjoyed it.
Staff was brilliant.
Would definitely go there again.
- caran (2/5): Hotel of thieves - These guys with drew twice the money from my credit card account with out me knowing. I came to know when I reached my country back. Now they are not returning my excess amount
- Louis (6/5): Dubai stay - great for travelling - Ask for a room on the 5th or 6th floor if you want to have a full night of sleep as there is a few night clubs on the ground and 1st floor.
- Michelle (8/5): - Location was great, only a five min walk to the metro. There are also two super markets within a five min walk also. Staff was friendly and helpful also. Breakfast was good also and had a lot of variety. The only negative is the nightclub in the lobby. The music can be loud at night but if you're on a higher floor and are a deep sleeper, you should be fine.
- rhakman (6/5): Average - Not entirely happy
- zee ali (8/5): very nice and convenient - had an awesome time very nice hotel for a 3 star review nice cafe and room service very convenient close to supermarkets airport and dozens of restaurants
- Darren (2/5): Don't waste you money here ! - This hotel was a shocker, to be blunt the worst we have ever stayed in. The carpets were filthy and the bathroom was caked in mold. There is a nightclub on level 2, we were two floors up and never got a second of sleep before 3am, complaining to hotel management fell on deaf ears with "we are sorry you are unhappy but we cannot help and do not have another room available for you". How this hotel has ever been classified as a three star does bring into question the rating system although I suppose filth & grime is something that is subject to the timing of the evaluation. We did a desert safari with another couple who were equally unhappy - a word of advise "keep clear of this hotel".
- makram (2/5): bad noisy dirty bad staff music till 4 am - I couldn't sleep all night long. dirty bedsheet stained bathroom
- Tommy (8/5): Nice Hotel for the price - My 3rd stay at the Sun and Sands and planning my 4th. A Nice place for a turn and burn R&R stay, it is clean and close to Metro, the Bars/Clubs are nice and the staff is helpful. For the price it can not be beat.
- Marianna (4/5): - The rooms need major renovations. Mouldy smell.
- LALITH (4/5): STAY IN DUBAI - Okay for the price
- idris (2/5): Nightmare to stay in hotel - Dirty, not ideal as a family-friendly hotel
Frequented by call girls and drunkards in the 3 clubs in the hotel
Breakfast was terrible
- Verified traveler (8/5): A decent hotel... - stayed for a night. clean and decent hotel. however, availability of hot beverage facilities in the room could be a another star.
- hamad (2/5): Bad - This is the worst hotel ever when I arrived there there some noise comes from night club down stair I could not sleep tell 3 am so I don't recommend it to anyone the room is not clean as well
- Sameer (8/5): Sun and Sands Al Rigga - Family holiday great service could do with a better variety of breakfast only two downfalls just the club music too loud and the breakfast choice provided other wise comfortable hotel great location too near cafes and restaurants
- precious (2/5): All facilities are out of date. Rubbish breakfast - Absolute waste of money. We ended up staying up the penthouse in order to get some sleep. Which cost extra £100 per night. Very bad holiday experience
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Overall is just average, may need to work a little bit on the smell of the room.
- Abulimiti (8/5): I like this hotel may be stay next time - Not too bad also breakfast is good and staff in the restaurant nice people
- El Adawy (10/5): Great and nice hotel, close to all facilities - I living in Qatar, and once arrived Dubai for tourism i found Sun&Sand Hotel is Great and nice hotel, close to all facilities and places, easy traffic there, and thanks for breakfast open buffe and reception staff they are smiling and provide quality service, also great availability of car parking, wifi, gym, sauna, ad swimming pool for adults/kids, thanks and looking forward to comeback there again
- Verified traveler (4/5): Good location, poor service - Good location, but overall poor service. All of the staff were not helpful and the breakfast buffet really poor.
- Adolfo (8/5): Nice hotel for the price - We stayed in this hotel with low expectations due to the price. But it resulted to be very good. Very nice pool in the top, free WiFi in the lobby and the comfortable room.
It's well located, close to the metro and the Big Bus (city bus tour) route, this is a commercial and touristy area in Dubai, so you can find everything with acceptable prices.
There are a couple of bars in the hotel, you can find a beer in here.
- sachin (2/5): poor hotel - poor experiency
- Walid (8/5): - no wi fi no coofee and the or heat water machines
- PureSoulTourism (6/5): Over all good stay - Staff very good and caring. Even senior management takes care of guests.
Close to Al Rigga road and metro station.
Best wishes !!!
- MOORTHY (10/5): Good hotel to stay, Good Breakfast, Nicely located - It was good hotel located near AL Rigga Metro Station. Only problem here is there is no parking space. If somebody wants to meet you they will find it hard to park their vehicle.
- Jose (8/5): Silver in Sun and Sand - Even if take some times before they let us in (problem with credentials), The Reception already let us feel at home already.
The room is great (esp our King size bed), it's clean and tidy. And so quiet, away from rush and noise.
Thank you, Sun and Sand for making our 25th Wedding Anniversary a Home away from Home.
- Disgussed guest (4/5): Good location, terrible room cleaniness! - The hotel is well located near the metro station, personnel were helpful but the room was badly maintained, one of the mattress was in pretty bad condition, floor had marks all over it, and the worst...the TOILETTE was dirty (all over). Only thing you would expect at a supposedly 3 star hotel is that the bathroom is clean, otherwise why paying that much money for one night.
For people staying at the lower floors, watch out there is a bar inside the hotel and it is open pretty much every night but two.
- Saman (2/5): Do not stay BED BUGS! - Awful! Don't stay here. There were bed bugs and my wife and I got bite. The hotel has a club that is so loud you can't sleep. Also woman come into the club that are not there to dance.
- Blanca Luz (8/5): - Excellent
- Verified traveler (6/5): All over the hotel was ok - My stay was ok the hotel is in ideal place. During booking it showed free WIFI in a room how ever when I checked inn. I was told that there is no free WIFi in the room and I have to pay additional charge.
- sime (8/5): Excellent, outstandig accommodation. - Location was great. Breakfast was delicious with real juices. Service was excellent. Definitely we would like to visit Sun & Sands Hotel again in the near future.
- Verified traveler (2/5): I would give 0 rating to the hotel if I can - There have been multiple illegitimate transactions on my debit card by the hotel, when I have paid cash. I paid full 500+ dirhams at check in. Why? Because even on my insisting to not charge on debit card (to prevent conversion cost). They went ahead and did the initial charge. So had to again ask them to undo the charge, and paid them full amount at check-in. I have raised complaint on Expedia, kindly get back.
Room was okay. AC was broken, imagine in the hot + humid Dubai.
- AHMED (8/5): Plesant stay - Nice
- ahmed (4/5): Very noisy due to the night club - It's not family friendly hotel, the night clubs inside the hotels are open until 3 am so if your room is in the lower floors it would be hard to sleep because of the loud music coming from the night clubs. The carpets are too old that most of it are ripped. The breakfast has no variety and the same food everyday.
- Faisal (6/5): You can try. - I arrived at the hotel 5 minutes before their upper floor hospitality event (2-4pm) ended. The front desk women ( MAYA) expedited my check in and I was quickly in my room. Overall a great check-in experience. The hotel was very much a standard 3 star hotel. A room with a good of space. The room was clean, but carpets both on hallways somehow has a unique smell and in the room has stains. When I was waiting elevator at the same time it became a conversion starter for all the people waiting for the elevator and we most agree the front desk employee has done great job to welcoming you . I was satisfied with the breakfast, I got my oatmeal and fresh fruits. My colleague would have liked some cheese to put on his piece of bread was more disappointed.
- Petya (2/5): Absolutely awful service and filthy rooms - Awful hotel. Avoid at all cost. We booked this hotel for 6 hours only because we missed our flight connection in Dubai and needed a place close to the airport to rest and freshen up. I booked on hotel.com and once we arrived at the hotel we were asked to pay for another room because my partner and I are not the same nationality!!! At this point after an awful day at the airport we just wanted to get it over with. We booked and paid for a second room. The hotel is full of men who have never seen a woman. My partner refused to stay in her room alone and I was worried to be in the same room as her due to the hotel's backwards stone age policies and didn't want any more trouble. The room was absolutely filthy. Human hair stuck on the ceramic tiles, no tissues in the toilet and we could not relax one bit due to being constantly stressed about what else would the hotel come up with. This was truly an awful experience. We visit dubai several times every year and always stay at good five star hotels. We booked this one as we only needed a place to freshen up and stay close to the airport. It was cheap at first but with the second room and all the taxes we would have been better off booking a proper hotel. When in Dubai always book leading hotels - a bit more expensive but the service is well worth it. As for the Sands and sun, I hope they close this place down.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Not very good. The hotel needs refurbishment and more money needs to be spent on maintenance.
- OSAMA (2/5): - Very bad short
- mohammed (2/5): poooor - pooooor not good
- Elhosainy (6/5): very nice hotel - the hotel is very nice need internet to be free inside the rooms
- Eyob (8/5): Mr - Dear sir
That hotel is very good hotel
I am happy to living time
Regards
- Verified traveler (6/5): Heater - Nice room but no heater in shower.
- Fernando (4/5): Sun & Sunds An Option for a Short Stay - My stay was okay for one night.
- Bambino (4/5): The hotel description is very tricky. - The pool was not working for a period of 1 month. The hotel description shows a very nice pool, needed with DUBAI weather, however is not working.
Now, the free internet is only in the lobby, in your room cost approx 7 USD per 24 hours, and works poorly on cell phones, ok in Laptop. I requested help to fix this, no help at all.
The free breakfast is ad, however the breakfast is not good. I stayed there 7 days only having breakfast 3 times, and the three times mess my body.
Has a particular smell in the hotel.
The worst was people fixing the roof all night, every single night. the first 3 days no hot water.
Be careful, stay away from this hotel.
- Sohail (6/5): Good Hotel - Hotel was all right, service wasn't bad either. Room and wash rooms both were super cleaned (I'm a clean freak) only thing irritated me during nights were strong odour of cigarette smoke in the elevator and around the main lobby area because of the 3 night clubs inside the hotel, most of the times it was almost impossible for me to breath in those areas. Very close to Metro(Al Rigga Subway station), neighbourhood has a lot of good restaurants. Convenience store cross the street(little pricy). Hotel has decent lunch buffet at very reasonable price. May have breakfast too but I only had lunch. Has free Wifi at main lobby.
You could also book city tours or out of town tours with Dimitri (Nice Guy) at reasonable price.
Over all best priced for the room and service
- Loni (4/5): There's WAY better in Dubai... - Check in staff was a little rude-told us we were "late" when our flight was a late one anyway and they didn't offer us late check out. He asked for our passports so they could have copies on hand and when we asked for them back he waved us off, saying they were fine and would be returned to us as soon as he was done. After reading other reviews, I was already aware this was probably their little scam way of ensuring you pay for any so-called "damages" to the room and let it go so we could rest and get out of there. The room was musty and tired...it wasn't a place you'd want to spend more than a commuter night in, especially in a many-optioned place like Dubai! We went to check out and, sure enough, they said they had to check the room before our PP could be returned...this took about 10 extra minutes and our stuff was returned. The bell man was helpful in storing our luggage until we had to return to the airport...but needless to say, this motel will not be getting our business again.
- Tim (6/5): Nice hotel with good location - I have stay in this hotel before and it is a nice hotel with good location near shops, supermarked, Metro etc.
Only one minus was that there was no hot water in the room (just little warm) and the hotel did not manage to fix it !
I will come back and good value for money
- Abhith edadan (6/5): good stay but not for family - not for family, but comfort and cleanness are good..
- james (2/5): - Very "cheap" and old hotel. Not very pleasant for a decent person or their families. Steer clear.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Fine but.. - The hotel was fine except for two details that may or maynot always be the case: (1) at 2AM on the 6th floor there was only cool/lukewarm water in the shower (2) I never got the morning wakeup call that I requested. The very helpful hotel staff member who took me to the room was essential for my quickly signing into the internet for which I had paid extra. Everyone was very helpful. The breakfast buffet was quite adequate. Though it is very near parts of the airport property, it was still something like a 15 minute or so from the airport passenger terminal.
- Aditya (4/5): 350 Mts from metro. Most convinient - Shady rooms, bad service. Only usp is proximity to metro station.
Supermarket very close. Breakfast was same everyday. Overall cheap rooms with ultra cheap service
- Verified traveler (6/5): room condition - Only luke warm hot water service. Hair dryer didn't work
- Carolyn (6/5): Cheap but it'll cost you to get to the hotspots - The hotel seems quite old and so does everything in it. The carpet felt humid the entire time. The bathroom had rust in some places. When we arrived, we were asked to wait to be able to check in, we had to sit for 10 minutes just so they would call us and ask for our reservation number and then wait again while they scanned our credit card. It was too painful of a process to check in and out. The breakfast on the other hand was delicious! If you want to get to all the hotspots in Dubai you have to take the metro, which can take a while...
- Ryan (6/5): easy way around - the staff especially are very accommodating. the housekeeping person assigned in the floor i am staying maintains the room clean every time. the breakfast is nice but they need to have varieties; paying special consideration those staying in the hotel for a longer time.
it is near the metro station and some shops where you can dine and shop.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not a good hotel - Not recommended to stay in this Hotel.
- ana (10/5): Nice - Everything was nice but didnt allowed my bf to stay even if I book for two person they didnt allow because I was USA and his Pakistani I didnt see that it say in page that donot allow it ..
