Guest Reviews
- Dive_Traveller1974 (4/5): The location and the price is OK - Only provide basic amenitiy: toothbrush, but nothing else. The sheets, blankets and towels are all low quality. Could be quite loud at night. Basic hotel godd for low budget traveller, but definietly not for business.
- Ethan (6/5): Too expensive for the amenities - Internet connection was too weak to use in the room. Even though the website stated they had an iron and ironing board, when I requested this the staff said "we used to have one, but it's gone now." Only one in the whole hotel?
Also, for the deposit, the staff charged me 200rmb on my credit card, rather than simply placing a hold. This is mildly annoying as now I have to wait a week or two for the charges to be reversed.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Toilet door lock broken! Toilet door frame broken, WIFi mulfunction
- K5159JQmarcor (8/5): Always Good - Jinjiang Inns are always our go to choice for good hotels with a good price. The location of this hotel is really good and a 10-12 min walk to the train station. The bell persons here are very friendly and so far I only know of one of the staff that can speak English who helped us check in.
- Bradley (8/5): - shower not working
- HL (8/5): - There are a lot of dinning places, very convenient
- Verified traveler (6/5): Poor WiFi - Location is acceptable, take around 10 minutes walk to the subway station.
Decoration is a bit old and the room WiFi is poor that is inconvenient for business travelers.
- pupafobic (8/5): Cheap option with great location - Shanghai's downtown hotels usually cost a lot and this one was very cheap considering the location. I live in Shanghai and I wanted to have cheap hotel weekend in downtown. Everything is near, convenient store in other side of street, 10 min walk to metro station and lot of close by restaurants. Rooms are very simple, but shower works, air condition kept us warm during night, breakfast was good (and very chinese), and they cleaned room every day. We received only one room key card though, which was little bit unconventional, when my friend and I had totally different schedules during the day, but it was manageable. I would totally book this hotel again.
- Tore Gunnar (6/5): - Bruker gjerne hotellet igjen.
- Yang Jie (6/5):
- pinyinok (10/5): Location - This place has a great location if you want to be near nanjing road, element fresh, and the portman. If you don't know those places, this is one of the centers of sh. Clean, nice, great...will stay again
- Tat Hoi (6/5): - Not a good experience. Nothing good but economic
- 95andrewq (8/5): Simple, cheap option - This place really isn't bad for the price.
The rooms are quite dated and there are notably amusing notes in the room about how guests should be careful of salacious documents that may be left under their door. There is working aircon in the rooms, though we had to monkey with the controls a bit to get it to work. After one rainy day, the room was quite musty when we turned on the aircon, though after some time, the smell dissipated.
The hotel sadly isn't super close to any great transportation options; it's about ten minutes away from the subway. That said, if you don't mind walking, Nanjing Road is around fifteen minutes away and covered in shopping. Good food is in abundance here.
The folks at the desk are super friendly and will greet you consistently on entering the lobby.
- Xena (6/5): - Overall is ok, room clean and comfort, easy access to all the local facilities, only problem is internet connection constantly interrupted.
- Chun Ho (8/5): - Fair enough for this price... But always no shower gel in bathroom
- Verified traveler (8/5): - fair hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): excellent location but unstable wifi service - great location, very near to major shopping plazas and metro stations.
but room wifi service was very weak and frequently got disconnected.
- XinyiX320 (8/5): great value for the location - Shanghai's hotel usually costs a lot given the location is downtown. This one cannot be described as cheap but I think it's a bargain for its location. It's in Jin'An district which has some of the most pricey apartments in this cosmopolitan. There is a convenient store on the other side of the street. 10-minute walk to the nearest subway station and several bus stops nearby.
The room was not spacious. There's blood spots on the sheet (I discovered it the night before my departure). The Internet was free and steady. And they offer two bottles of complimentary water.
- eyadd2015 (8/5): Basic hotel - I stayed here for five nights. My room was small but clean and the staff did a good job cleaning it when I asked them to. Wifi is acceptably fast and the breakfast is decent. The hotel is a nice neighborhood with shopping, subway stations, and restaurants nearby. A good value for the money.
- traveller3720 (8/5): Clean, Cool, Basic Hotel, good value - Stayed here one night, the rooms are small, but ours was clean, shower was fine and bed was comfortable. The air conditioning in the room was very efficient and kept us cool all night and we had a good night's sleep. We had one of the internal rooms with just a small window onto nothing. There are plenty of places to eat right outside the hotel and some of the places have English menus under the counter. At £24 per night for a room for 2 this has to be highly recommended. It's just a 10 min walk to the far end of Nanjing Rd. As a foreigner you will be in the minority, but we had no problems.
- Wamie (6/5): Not great but ok - Stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights. My room was tiny and there's only a small window. No bathtub but shower was powerful enough for me. Breakfast... hmmm... don't expect anything great... not bad service but people working there cannot really understand English. At least good location, so if you just need a place to sleep, this could be your hotel. The price is good.
- KobiL (6/5): Good value for money, great location - Although there are better Jinjiangs across China, for Shanghai, and specifically for the unbeatable Jing'an district this hotel is very nice and good value.
Rooms are a bit small but clean and bathrooms are good. Unfortunately no closet to put clothes in, which can be a bit of a hassle when staying for more than one night.
Service was very kind and polite.
All in all it's a good hotel for those seeking a clean, decent place in the one of Shanghai's best areas (though the hotel is about 10-15 min. walk from the nearest subway station) at a very reasonable price.
- DebsHK (6/5): GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY - The hotel was clean and the staff helpful even though the level of English was really low. I had to talk to the agency I had booked with online over the phone to solve the payment but either than that I did not have problems.
Just like many other hotels in Shanghai and China in general be prepared to ask for a hair dryer (they do have it but you have to get it from downstairs signing a paper) and an adapter if you are not carrying one with you. Toilet flush was ok on first two days then it gave up (another problem in China I faced a few times).
Be prepared also about door slamming and people partying at night (until at least 2 am that is), but that, again, is something usual in China.
In the end, then, nothing special, you can have breakfast for 15 rmb if you are a guest and for 25 if you are not: dumplings (with veggies and with meat), yogurt (if you can call it that...), hard boiled eggs some bread and funnily enough a hot orange juice (because that is how the machine is set) and some ice on the side to cool it down, not too bad overall if you are on a low budget
