• Mohau (10/5): Amazing - I loved my room. My wife and son enjoyed their stay there and they have such lovely staff members. It was definitely a home away from home. The bed is big enough that you can literally roll all night along. I had some great conversations with the staff from the reception. Absolutely nothing.

I just needed a place to rest for a few days and I found the silence I needed without being bothered . I am truly grateful for such an amazing place to recoup and rest without noise or chaos . I will definitely be back I extended my stay by three more days cos I actually just felt at home. I loved it thank you for the convenience and ease . And your staff is just so lovely

Great settings. - Tyson is very helpful, approachable and knowledgeable who not only recommended very nice and affordable meal around the area since the very first day when I arrived late and even leaded me to the restaurant, but also introduced the soca culture, SA politics, informations of tourist attractions. Virginia also nice and approachable, she always smiles and gives the warm vibes. I wish she enjoys the holiday. Water and electricity not very stable. The water can be weak and/or no hot water. Also, power outage happened several times during my 6 nights stay. (tho Tyson always sorted it out very soon)

Lovely room with everything you could need - small minibar stocked with lots of goodies. There wasnt anything I didnt like - the whole place was lovely. The gate was loud and disturbing every time it was opened or closed at night. I stayed close to the gate. Although the bedding was clean and clearly washed, it had quite a few stains/marks from wear over time.

The place is close to shops (small supermarkets around the corner on the main street) and Campus Square. It is easily accessible and very private for those quiet moments when as a guest you want to rest or do some work. Thank you to all the staff at MI PI CHI. This was a recommendation by a friend. It shall go on my go to place whenever I visit Johannesburg.

• namutebi2025 (8/5): A good place to stay - It was a good place to stay. Very convenient as it's right on the road and yet quiet. The pillows are a bit flat and could be changed. I loved the upgrade to a bigger room with an interesting bathroom area....you need to visit you to know what I'm talking about. Mi Pi Chi is a true reflection of what they show on the website. Generally, a place worth a second visit, and whatever was amiss, Ma Virginia made it all right. She's an asset to that place.

Also the staff were very friendly, helpful, wanting to go the extra mile. Thank you Tyson for walking me to the restaurant! Thank you Tandi for offering me the opportunity to take a shower before the night flight back home! The communication was not so fortunate: I had asked for a transfer from the airport, but for some reason never got any response the day of arrival (I ended up taking Uber). When I inquired about the options of breakfast at arrival, there were no possibilities anymore. Of course I can understand this for the following day: preparations need to be made. But after the second night, this might be feasible again? The location of the motel is okay: it is an agreable neighbourhood with restaurants and bars in a walkable distance... but these are out of reach after sunset when single and without a car (Tyson was so sweet to help me out the first night). The iron entrance gate makes a lot of noise, so in the rooms next to it, you only get as much sleep as the hours that the gate is not being used.

Quartiere residenziale a due passi dalla via principale di Melville dove sono presenti ristoranti e locali e un paio di bellissimi posticini per la colazione. Il personale dell’hotel ci ha sempre comunque raccomandato di usare Uber la sera. La mattina siamo andati a piedi. Nel pomeriggio hanno chiuso completamente l’acqua. Cosa che non avevo trovato specificata da nessuna parte quando ho prenotato. Quindi niente doccia sino al mattino dopo. Se avessi voluto fare la doccia sarei dovuta andare alla palestra della via, dello stesso proprietario del motel. È un Motel quindi no colazione ma spazi comuni molto carini se avessimo deciso di prepararcela da soli.

Unfortunately, we didn't have water, although they did make plan B where we can bath and put some water in the bathroom. It was beyond their control unfortunately, as the whole area didn't have water.

Das Personal ist sagenhaft nett und ich habe mich wirklich wie in einem Second Home gefühlt. Sehr sauber und sicher. Preis/Leistung ist überragend. Betten groß und sehr bequem. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful — they gave me great recommendations on where to go out in the evenings, which made my time in Johannesburg even more enjoyable. On my last day, since my flight was in the late afternoon, they kindly let me use the room for a few extra hours to work, even though I hadn’t requested it in advance. Truly appreciated! Highly recommended.

• Alexa (9/5): Spacious apartment in Melville with the most wonderful staff! - We were absolutely blown away by the staff at Mi Pi Chi - especially the night guard, Tyson! We arrived late on a Thursday night, and it was one of our first trips to JHB, we were unfamiliar with the area and felt a little unsettled as we arrived - Tyson made us feel so at ease, and went out of his way to make sure we felt safe the whole weekend. The apartment was super spacious and clean, and had everything we needed, as guests travelling for work. Thank you to the team!! Amazing value for money. Only feedback would be the shower! Since it's over a bath and not connected to the wall, after you shower there is quite a bit of water on the floor, but Verginia was kind enough to bring us extra dry towels every day, which made this managable!

• EP (1/5): This accommodation has rodents(!) thus it constitutes a serious public health concern - The on-site staff were friendly, hospitable and helpful. To my dismay, during my stay at Motel Mi Pi CHi between Thursday, 17 July 2025 and Thursday, 24 July, I encountered a mouse running around inside my hotel room in the early eve—an unacceptable breach of basic hospitality standards and health regulations. Despite promptly bringing this to the attention of the manager and requesting a refund for the remaining two nights of my stay (I moved out and at very short notice had to rearrange my accommodation), I was informed that, the owner, declined this reasonable request. It must be noted that I heard a scrabbling sound in my room on the second night of my 8 day stay but had thought that was someone creeping around outside my window! Upon investigation (I woke up in a deep state of fear), there appeared to be noone in the little courtyard, but the sound continued when I tried to go back to sleep. I resolved that it might possibly be cockroaches scuttling and rummaging in the tiny waste bin provided (a ghastly thought!) but never could I have imagined that it was a rodent! In a guest accommodation this constitutes a serious public health concern and breach of basic service provision (especially as there was evidence of knowledge of a rodent issue - I noted a trap laid out in the corner of the room on my first night). When I communicated the above to the owner, she still offered no apology and instead reported she was too busy to manage this complaint at this stage and that she would revert at the end of July. This decision was deeply disappointing and demonstrates a concerning disregard for guest well-being and due diligence. To compound matters, I am currently five months pregnant, and such unsanitary conditions pose not only a health risk to myself but also to my unborn child. Furthermore, the white bedding although clean, was discoloured with a few old stains and in need of a replacement. Some of the surfaces had accumulated dust. An absolutely disappointing stay and a clear breach of basic health and safety.

Rooms are spacious and clean, although we did spot a mouse in ours. Rooms are not soundproof but the owner ensures noise in the common area is kept down. Parking is narrow and can be tricky for non experienced drivers.

• Sanele (6/5): No tenant is better than the next - The accommodation was neat; clean; and had most of the equipment one required. Respect the fact that the lady at reception was lenient on us asking for some time to clean up during checkout. 1. Attempting calling the numbers on the website when we were getting lost, but to no avail. 2. I am very unhappy about the security texting us advising us of a tenant who wanted us to keep it down because they were trying to prepare for an exam! If we were having a party or the TV volume was loud, I'd understand. We now had to whisper to each other because someone decided to utilize the hotel, which we paid for just as they did, as a library! I felt very disrespected but decided to let it slide.
