Guest Reviews
- Brian (7/5): Good -
- Graeme (6/5): The rooms are neat and tidy and the property is extremely convenient for bus travel. - Located on a major road, with a number of bus routes, including the main airport-city. There is stop nearby and I bussed in and out of the city easily, as well as to and from the airport.
The room and ensuite bathroom were clean and tidy and a good size.
The bed was comfortable.
I arrived late at night and it was easy to let myself in after I contacted the property to let them know. There was a lack of contact or information to know if I needed to follow up with a check in in the morning and no information about the facilities of the property.
A simple compendium of info would have made things easier.
- Noor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (5/5): Passable -
- Mary (4/5): Disappointing -
- Mahnoor (9/5): Superb -
- Sean (1/5): Bad - nothing catering for asylum seekers
- Manuela (5/5): Not again - Clean-ish. No one there upon check-in, no one available on the phone number, no one responding on the chat. Had to wait for half an hour outside. Never got an apology for that.
Sink: One tap not working, the other barely running any water. The shower was either cold or burning hot, it wasn't possible to properly set the temperature.
The street noise was very audible even with closed windows.
- Elizabeth (6/5): Basic accommodation, but clean and safe - Clean, safe, good location close to bus stop. I felt safe as a solo female traveler. Also close to a grocery store where the food is very cheap. The room got a bit cold, but there was personal heater available in the closet which really helped. There was no fridge to store food, so I didn't buy perishable items except in very small quantities.
- Bryan (7/5): Good spot…will stay again - Great location reasonable clean & tidy Its an old b&b but still nice
- Byrne (1/5): Not nice -
- Senem (6/5): Pleasant -
- Susan (4/5): Although the owner reserved a room to shower it was an extremely inconvenient distance. - Location, access to public transportation. No hot water or heating entire stay.. Owner should have called a plumbing contractor to fix the problem instead of depending on individual plumbers who didn’t show up. Should have contacted me with the problem before checking in and offered to cancel.
- Amanda (1/5): Don't go! - Good Location No Heat, no warm water for a shower, TV had smashed screen in room so couldn't watch or turn on. Room tiny, no breakfact served, no communial area, walls paper thin. You could hear plugs being pluged in and didn't help that a coulpe spent the night arguring in the room next door. No exaggeration. The worst nightmare of a night away.
- Kirrie (3/5): Very angry - Clean, had the basics, good location close to transport Manager knew when I arrived that there was no hot water but didn’t notify me. Stayed 2 nights- no hot water. There was a woman with a young baby in another room - unable
to clean baby bottles etc. second hotel
In Dublin with no hot water - perhaps a plot for owners to increase profits? This guy was driving a shiny red Maserati!!!
- Marie (7/5): Enjoyed my stay but it would have been better if the TV actually worked! - I didn't get any breakfast The tv remote would not turn on the TV!
- Vitaliy (5/5): Passable -
- Daragh (2/5): Never again. - Proximity to my work location It was dirty and smelly. The smell of smoke was evident. Other resident were smoking inside. The window blind didn’t cover the whole window and the sound of traffic outside disrupted sleep.
- Thomas (6/5): Nice bed but bad shower - Bed was comfortable and location was nice. Shower has nearly no pressure and is very hot. Toilette seat was not fully attached to toilet
- Moira (4/5): Not great. - The location was good. Nice area closed to the botanical gardens amongst other things. Several buses going past the door into the city centre. TV didn't work and even if it had the screen was completely cracked ... which was probably why it didn't work. Half-melted plug socket that didn't work. Fuses blue completely one day but fortunately another guest found the fuse box and rectified the situation.
- C (4/5): Disappointing - I like the view to the street that i had, that made possible see funny people going to AC DC concert. It could be better, the shower is very hot and so was almost impossible take one in the room l was. The TV also didnt work and its is in needing change the carpets.
- Paul (2/5): Very poor -
- Paula (8/5): Very good -
- Lora (3/5): Could've Been Better - Lovely old brick house. Close to bus, airport, hospital and food. All things we required on this trip. Room was sweltering warm. A fan wouldve been nice. Pillows were hard, like cardboard. Didn't bring us towels the 2nd day and due to heat and humidity, we were showering twice daily. No where to get water or use a microwave. A cup of real coffee would've been a treat. It was okay. Nothing more.
- Ken (7/5): Good location to city center, comfortable, but I'll look closer when making future arrangements. - Breakfast was not in the offering and I had minimal contact with the staff. Better communications when checking in
- Paul (7/5): Good - Location , friendly staff Shower - was barely able to get in and no hot water
- Attracta (6/5): Basic but clean and convenient - It was clean It felt unsafe as the lock on the door to our room was broken.
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Eddie (7/5): Good -
- Paula (8/5): Very good -
- Cormac (9/5): very happy with the room and location convenient - location brilliant and room comfortable great nights sleep
- Marko (8/5): Good if u are on a budget. If you aren’t planning on staying there for the whole day than its great! Really liked the ne -
- Momondo (4/5): Disappointing - I liked the location, by the road, easy to find. Good communications from the accomodation, -where to walk in and they provided me with code for the door before my araiwel The first thing that met me when I opened front door (on backside of house) was three big black garbage things that smelled awful. It was Easy to find one of the 5 rooms. Carpet in the hallway have probably not been deepcleaned since last world war? The room was friendly and very clean👍 The bed was not good to sleep in, woke up with a back pain. The bathroom was without any kind of heating source, I say no more
- Iyengumwena (7/5): Nice accomodation - Nice room and the owner was kind enough to return an item I left by mistake after my stay .
- Joan (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable room leading out to a beautiful garden
- Lynch (7/5): Good - Nicely decorated room with lovely bathroom The room was very cold with no heating that could be turned on by guests
- Dympna (8/5): Very good - Very convenient Na
- John (6/5): Pleasant - Clean
Location
Tea and coffee in room
Simple user friendly Shower curtain
- Mary (8/5): clean comfortable bed that’s all you need - clean quite location comfortable bathroom sink a bit small
- Maeve (6/5): Pleasant - Great location. Very simplistic bedroom and bathroom. Nice staff. Bedding could have felt cleaner.
- Elaine (4/5): Very disappointed - Location Cold, small, and poorly maintained
Serviced -what does this mean!
- Kevin (1/5): Could not wait to leave. - Nice old house. Could be very nice but! On a very busy road, traffic all night. Very noisy. Blind did not fit window so car and street lights were a constant distraction. No parking available. Window glass broken. Tiny room. No dining facilities despite being advertised as “ bed and breakfast”. I believe it has a 3 star rating. I cannot imagine how. There was a smell in the room, I could not make out if it was stale b o or stale cigarette smoke. Cleanliness was questionable. Decor poor, in need of redecoration.
- Maria (7/5): Good -
- Tarleton (8/5): Very good value and excellent location - Arriving late, the instructions for access to room were very clear and helpful. Shower fitting needed attention
- Oleksandr (8/5): Very good -
- Jose (8/5): Basic room. Comfortable bed. Slightly overpriced for what it was. - Handy for bus to City. Really comfortable bed. Quiet. TV didn’t have Freeview. Could only watch Netflix. Shower curtain needed changing. Brown mark all round the bottom. It was quite cold, couldn’t turn any heating on. Damp patches above shower and round skylight. No bedside table. Had to use chair for night water drink and bedside lamp. Chair needs to move next to cupboard. Bedside table needs to be put in. Centre light had bare electric ceiling rose showing wires.
- E (10/5): Drumcondra - The location in Drumcondra was perfect. I was flying on Wednesday afternoon so I booked this room for Tuesday night which gave me an entire Wednesday morning to be in Dublin instead of racing around trying to get to the airport. I had a walk in the morning, had a coffee and croissant nearby and traveled to the airport on the #16 to the Terminal arriving there calmly.
- Marilene (7/5): Good - There were no towels for a shower
- Andrew (9/5): Excellent value for money. great location for Dublin city. - Everything was as expected. The location was perfect for my trip. Instructions for access and communication were very good and clear. the room was ideal for the visit which was only one night. I would have no hesitation recommending Ashling House to friends. nothing comes to mind.
- Dennis (9/5): Would consider returning to Ashling House if my travel requirements take me to that area of Dublin. - The location was central to my needs, and the bed was so comfortable.. Michael was very gracious and welcoming.
- Sabrina (7/5): Good -
- Thomas (5/5): Passable - Good location. Good bathroom. Thin walls.
- Zainab (6/5): Pleasant - Location and links to airport Lots of bits broken in the room like the coat hanger, the heaters parts were coming off
- Gia (8/5): Very good -
- Donnell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne (5/5): Basic but clean accommodation, suitable for a short stay - convenient location coming from the airport, on bus routes No breakfast on the premisses (but there are several cafés nearby).
- David (1/5): Unwanted Hidden treasures - I liked the closeness to the city centre What I found wrong with my room. The cracked window being one thing. That was minor compared to what I found. The property owners should contact me
- Mohamed (3/5): Poor -
- Debra (8/5): Very good -
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional - The price is very good and the rooms are comfortable. It's not in Dublin center, but it's just a few minutes drive by bus so that's quite ok given the lower price they practice
- Tess (1/5): HORRIBLE!!!! - the shower was nice. NO Breakfast in an accomodation that claims it is a B&B. On the accomodation website, the accomodation is titled as 'Ashling House Bed &Breakfast Dublin' BUT breakfast was NON-EXISTENT!
The deceipt and lack of these so-called services is an absolute JOKE!!!! I did't like anything, except the shower and free WIFI. I had the most horrible time otherwise!!
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samanta (9/5): Great and close to the center of Dublin - Great location. We had a rental car that we comfortably parked in front of the door. Close to lidl and other facilities. Nice bathroom and silent neighborhood. I would have loved to join the beds into one, but it's fine.
- Fergal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ajvad (4/5): Disappointing -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jade (8/5): Very good - Nice location. Its next to a shop and a bus stop.
Easy to get in and out of
- Umut79 (8/5): Overall Good - Nice, cozy,relaxed Room was veey cold
- Andrei (7/5): Room for improvement! - Pretty close to city center, nice area, grocerie stores and nice restaurants in the nearby area. The room had an old style lock, which did not feel safe for me leaving my stuff there, the matress on the bed seemed to be slipping onto the floor everytime I moved on it, everything on the bed seemed quite old and a bit smelly and the towels were horrible.
- Gary (6/5): It was just basic accommodation good if you just needed a bed and weren’t hanging around all day - Location was alright as it was a 45 minute walk into city centre and it was all straight down which was good didn’t need map.was quiet but no breakfast available no welcome note for information only saw 1 cleaner and maybe night porter not sure. No breakfast no staff visible not enough signage wasn’t really value for money.
- Lester (4/5): Not as expected - This is more like an Airbnb. The room had a hostel type vibe. Furniture cheap and towels old & hard with loose threads on the edges Old and shabby room, very basic, no frills.
- Gwanzura (8/5): Very good -
- George (8/5): I will be back again I stayed there about 2 years ago and I liked the place and again the excellent - Location was excellent I grew up in drumcondra so I was able to see old friends in the goose tavern off Griffith avenue so living in Spain for the last 18 years I could meet up with old friends.so your location .made the difference location is everything The remote control for the television didn't work probably just needed new batteries but I liked the accommodation but above the location and the bus stop outside was great as I'm 68 years old and I made good use of my travel pass as I'm Irish
- Russell (1/5): Bad - There was absolutely nothing to like about this room. There was absolutely nothing to like about this room. The temperature of the room was a hundred degrees with no way of turning the heat off. No hot water tap. Tiny room. May as well have not been any pillows on bed they were so flat.
- Cedarwood73 (8/5): Very good - Perfect location. Comfortable room. Did the job. Under pressure that week in Dublin with a family member being sick in Beaumont. The owner went out of his way to help me. Absolute gent. Won't forget that.
- Thomas (1/5): Nightmare - Nothing No heating and a broken window that could not be closed.
- Michael (2/5): Very poor -
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (5/5): Good location if staying nearby but paper thin walls and uncomfortable bed. Bring ear plugs. - Shower was good and warm, location was good if staying nearby, plenty of shops bar and restaurants very close. The room was warm although very small and had a kettle with tea and coffee. Walls were very thin, I could hear every conversation and tv in the nearby rooms, the bed was very uncomfortable, it needs to be replaced. There was a dripping sound from above the room all night so I bought ear plugs.
- Enda (1/5): Bad -
- Tanya (5/5): Cheaper than a lot of places in the area but I would rather pay more to get the basic service - The location was excellent for buses and nearby shops and travel to the city centre Lack of staff presence. No 'have a nice stay' upon arrival through the intercom. Had to ask for fresh cups and towels. No lounge that was obvious that we could sit in despite that being advertised. The TV wasn't attached in the best position for use of the bathroom and the shower head was attached with a cable tie which came loose and broke. The housekeeper was unable to help with this and turned up at 8pm to offer replenishments on our last night.
- Molly (6/5): Good location, clean rooms, overpriced. - Right next to the bus stop with regular buses into the centre of Dublin.
Our room with large and clean with an ensuite and comfortable bed. A good night's sleep. Kettle and tea/coffee in room.
Small garden leading off of room.
Private parking available for 3 cars. No formal check in process as far as we could tell. We were greeted by a cleaner who, whilst friendly and polite, spoke very little English and didn't seem equipped to deal with check in.
The room wasn't cleaned daily (despite the high price) and there was no breakfast despite being listed as b&b.
Although the room was clean and a good size it was very basic and not at all good value for money. It was very expensive for what it was (although we did visit on St Patrick's weekend).
- Martin (7/5): A bit spartan, you don't get that cosseted feel that you get in most B&Bs but it was okay - the wifi worked well wish they would put in a decent shower unit, also for a 4 night stay it would have been handy if they replenished the tea bags, milk etc.
- Patricia (5/5): Passable -
- Vernon (8/5): Very good - Perfect for a bed for the night before an early flight from Dublin.
- Grace (5/5): Passable -
- Phillip (8/5): Clean and comfortable. - Nothing much.
- Mikhail (4/5): Disappointing -
- Felna (9/5): Superb -
- Lili (5/5): Passable -
- Olabisi (9/5): Superb - Good sight from the apartment. And it's proximity to the city centre. Everything seems good.
- Paul (7/5): Good - Bedroom and ensuite badly in need of updating. Room smelled. Hot tap in sink leaked. The toilet bowel was not secure to the floor! The TV didn't work. Its cheapness was the redeeming factor! Above
- Radhika (6/5): Pleasant but very basic for the cost - too expensive - Room was fine There was no sensor corridor light so when I came back late, I had to use my phone torch to find light switch until I got to my room and then go back and switch off corridor light
- Matthews (4/5): Review Aisling House - Access and parking The mattress was dipping in the middle and very uncomfortable, they couldn't care less about the comfort of the guest and the TV is in a stupid place.
- Mark (5/5): Passable -
- Purchase (5/5): Passable - Good location No information about amenities or local area no WiFi no maid service
- Kellegher (8/5): Very good - Great location. Easy to find Price went up extortionate this week. I've been unable to find accommodation therefore unable to work.
- Doreen (10/5): Exceptional -
- William (8/5): Very good -
- Mervyn (8/5): Very good -
