- Olivia (3/5): Bad experience in a very nice hotel - The hotel is very nice with spectacular decor, and they upgraded our room, which we really appreciated. The views of the skyscrapers are spectacular. The breakfast was excellent, with plenty of variety. The problem was that an e-reader disappeared from our nightstand and was never found. We know it’s not worth much, so it’s really surprising that it was stolen. The hotel management was very attentive but didn’t resolve the issue or offer any alternative. It’s a shame that this incident spoiled our stay a bit; after what happened, I recommend that all guests keep any valuables in the safe.

We've been impressed with the fantastic views from the spacious rooms and exquisite furniture. Compared to the restaurants at The St Regis in Bali and Mauritius we stay for holidays, the standard of food and service previously needed to be reviewed. We are now delighted to see that Monsieur Bertho, the new General Manager, is very approachable and receptive to our feedback and leading a remarkable team who is keen to refine the new menu launched at the start of April. In particular, a la carte menu in the club lounge is worth paying every penny to access the lounge. Staff members are a great asset to the hotel. We'd like to thank them for their endeavours. - SvenZH (10/5): Very grand hotel with impressive views - I stayed at the St. Regis Jing’an in Shanghai for one night during a business trip. The hotel appears to have been renovated fairly recently and overall feels very grand—lots of marble, chandeliers, and large public spaces. Check-in was busy and there was a short wait, but the process was handled efficiently with several staff members helping to organize the arriving guests. My room on the 60th floor was spacious and offered impressive views over the Shanghai skyline. The bathroom was also very large and well designed. The hotel has an excellent fitness area. The gym is open 24 hours and quite large, and there is also a very big indoor pool, which is ideal if you actually want to swim laps rather than just relax. One thing to note is the lounge called “The Manor.” It is not a standard Marriott Bonvoy lounge, so elite status alone does not grant access. I opted to pay the additional fee at check-in. The space itself, located on the 55th floor, is pleasant and quite spacious. Breakfast there had a relatively small selection but was perfectly sufficient for me, and during happy hour there was a generous food offering. The drink selection was a bit more limited but still adequate. Communication with some of the staff in English could occasionally be a bit challenging compared to other hotels in Shanghai, but using the Marriott app for written requests worked very well. The location in the Jing’an District on Beijing Road is very central. It’s only a short walk to Nanjing Road with its many shopping malls, and there are also plenty of restaurants and bars in the surrounding area. Overall a very solid stay. The hotel works well for both business and leisure travelers, especially if you enjoy traditional, opulent luxury hotels with a classic feel.

- Gilbert (7/5): An adequate stay but nothing that’ll “wow” you. - Pretty convenient location with good room views if you choose the right rooms. Our room was spacious enough and comfortable and we enjoyed our time spent in the room generally speaking. Very limited gym equipment. Fitness centre was quite the letdown and for some reason they turned on the heater. I get that it’s winter but you don’t want the gym to feel like a sauna. Conversely, the swimming pool is not heated, which would have been a nice touch if you were coming in from the cold. Furthermore, the swimming pool itself is in poor condition with many tiles at the bottom of the pool having peeled off leading to possible injuries via cuts on the sharp tile edges. Lounge options are pretty limited for Asia when it comes to food options, but I guess it’ll suffice for most. Sadly, the lounge itself is situated on the side of the hotel that doesn’t have the great views of the iconic Shanghai skyscrapers. The breakfast buffet on the ground floor was generally fine but there could be more variety on the hot Chinese dishes.

Everything was excellent — the food, room cleaning, sound insulation, and the quiet atmosphere. The staff were more than lovely, always welcoming with smiley faces. On top of that, the room view from the 51st floor was spectacular, offering a real view of Shanghai. The gym and indoor swimming pool were very good, especially the pool water temperature, which was perfectly balanced despite the outside temperature being -4°C 🥶. Highly recommended for both family and business stays

- wenchinl2018 (10/5): The luxury hotel in Shanghai - Since 2019 we have enjoyed staying at Jingan St Regis when we visit Shanghai. Staff are courteous, efficient and helpful, and we are impressed with their professionalism and hospitality. The concierge led by Frankie is well organised and informative. Two housekeeping ladies on the 66th floor always quickly respond to our request. William, Pol and Stephen try their best to improve the standard of food and beverage in the Social. The excellent food and service provided by Eva in Yan Ting is commendable. Diana in the front desk helps us to go shopping, while our mobile phones are unable to place orders online. We highly recommend this hotel to international holidaymakers when they look for a luxury place to stay in the city centre.

Great area for walking around, exploring, and travelling to any other area. We stayed in 2 different rooms. One of them was a bit cold. The other one was perfect.

Ms Wang and Ms Chou come to clean our room and are well organised and friendly but not intrusive. We've been booking the hotel since St Regis took over the business in 2018. - Jan (3/5): Disappointing - Location is good, close to Nanjing Rd and Kerry Centre and don't get me wrong when you read my don't likes written below the hotel certainly had class 10 years ago but for a 5-star there are a many things you would not expect. A hotel that is part of such a prestigious group should pay much more attention to detail. Many things simply did not meet the standards of a five-star hotel, especially at this price point: - Lobby: The hall was drafty and cold. - Check-in: You sit so low that it feels like sinking into a hole, and you have to look up awkwardly to see the staff. - Lift: Poorly programmed, with long waiting times. The diamond-shaped buttons glitter so much you can’t read the numbers—they look more suited to a Christmas tree than a lift. - Suite: The furniture was dated, and cabinet doors did not close properly. The room clearly needs some care. - Coffee maker: Built-in and unnecessarily complicated—felt like you needed a degree to operate it. - Phone: Numbers were so tiny they were unreadable. When I finally managed to dial reception or in-room dining, no one answered. I travel frequently and stay in five-star hotels around the world, so I have a good sense of what works and what doesn’t. Unfortunately, the St. Regis Shanghai fell short.

I am an American who comes to China for work often. There are better rooms in Shanghai -- newer, more modern, but this is still at the high standard you expect. Comfortable rooms, and well maintained despite age. Service is great, my only observance staying a couple of times is the check in is a bit slow (they need more desks), and I don't tend to get upgraded here as a Titanium. Typical St Regis, classically adorned rooms. Clean. Quiet as it is on a high floor. Can often be crowded. 3 stars on the breakfast. It's a big buffet, but nothing really is a huge wow. Eat in Jing An instead, just use the breakfast for the coffee and light bites... the usual stuff.

- Pg180 (7/5): St Regis disappointing welcome: check-in chaos, delayed room entry, - Room was clean, room amenities were sufficient, staff were polite. Checked in was slow and frustrating, room wasnt ready even close to 6pm. We were out the whole day, return at 5pm and the room is not cleaned. There was no butler service on 36th floor. The fruits offered to the room were meant to be nice touch, but quality was not great, should have taken more care in plating and fresher produce.

Every detail reminded me why St. Regis stands for timeless hospitality. The only small downside — the staff member at the noodle cooking station could use a refresher in courtesy; otherwise, the service throughout the hotel was flawless.

- Iek Tong (10/5): - Great location. The room and service exceeded my expectations. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The butler service is excellent. I would stay here again next time. Highly recommend it.

- Suk Mei (10/5): - 步行至2號線地鐵站非常方便。夜間街上不會太熱鬧，但是治安也是好的，不用擔心。特別一提這個位置打車也比較容易，不會像在外灘酒店要加錢才有人接單。下次去上海會再入住。

- njztrip2015 (6/5): A little disappointment - The room was nice with an open view. The guest relations team at the lobby who greeted the guest upon arrival were attentive. Breakfast with great varieties and good quality. Wasn't too impressed about the readied coffee they placed at the tea and coffee counter, it was cold. The housekeeping staff did a good job in room makeup. We met several of them while we went out, they were always courteous. On the last night of stay, the kettle in the room was malfunctioned. While we called the butler team, they didn't understand 'kettle' and asked me to spelled the word out. After a while later, the technician came and confirmed it wasn't the power issue and he sent a housekeeping staff over. After checked again, confirmed it was the kettle issue and we have fo wait for replacement. The staff who brought over the kettle didn't test it and passed it over and eventually it was not working as well. When I called again, the staff asked if I have checked the power issue. I had to explain the whole story..... eventually the whole issue wasn't fixed after 30 mins of waiting. But we gave up since it was nearly midnight.
