Guest Reviews
- reemslaw (8/5): Cheap and cheerful. Happy customer - Tiny room with single bed, very small bathroom. Room upkeep is very run down and in need of repair. Check in on Expedia said 2pm but when I got there receptionist said it’s 3pm
However, the bed was comfy, the street nice and quiet so I had a good nights sleep. The radiator kept the room warm and the shower had plenty of hot water. A towel, soap and shampoo provided. £60 on a Thursday night in central London, you can’t say fairer than that. 2 mins walk from King’s Cross train station, I would stay here again.
- Lori (8/5): - Got the top floor , lots of stairs lol. But this place was a really good price and location for our stay. Thank you!
- David (8/5): - The room was value for money
- Jeremy (10/5): - Nice room, enough space even though single room
- Richard (2/5): - I have stayed in many hotels around the kings Cross area for business. This hotel is only suitable for a very short stay and although ideally close to Kings Cross for transport the amenities and room are very tired and need of a lot of TLC.
I booked a double en-suite. A few thoughts:
No chair, very tight space, no cupboard, very poor wifi glad I had my own.
Toilet seat broken, shower door broken, intermitten poor water presure in shower.
Decoration poor, no heating they must put it on when it gets really cold. No soundproofing in rooms.
Upside, it was quiet enough, close to transportation, and if you want a room for a very short period of time then this might work for you.
I gave this a try to see what it was like, but will return to my trusted hotels around this location.
- Terence (2/5): - Tiny, dirty basement room, dark, poor and constantly dripping shower, wobbly clothes hanging unit, no space for anything including turning around. Bedding not clean.
- Richard (6/5): - Served the purpose.
- scott (8/5): - I enjoyed my stay here the toilet seat and the tv remote was broken but i wasn't there to watch tv all the staff was very friendly and it was very clean and close to the train station
- Jeremy (10/5): - Comfortable, excellent value hotel.
- Patricia (10/5): - Good location. Excellent staff. We were made to feel very welcom.
- Carol (6/5): - Very basic but served its purpose. A chair as a bedside table, 2 cups (no saucers). no glass.
- paul (2/5): - X
- Miranda (6/5): - Reviews are correct. Place was convenient for taking trains like tube, Eurostar, LNER. The neighbourhood was safe and quiet. Staff was courteous. Room was small but had a bathroom in room. Bed was a bit too soft but covers were comfortable. Was perfect for our stay as we just needed a place to sleep.
- Mark (6/5): - It’s was ok for one night stay , room was clean too
- Kristine (2/5): Look for cheap options somewhere else - As we needed hotel for a few hours only, we knew that we are going to book something which might not be even close to adequate, and this hotel did not disappoint us - mouldy walls and bedding, window wouldn’t shut. I was scared to switch light off in case something will start crawling out from corners. The best thing of it - was leaving.
Person who checked as in was nice though.
- Mahnoush (4/5): Cold room - It was cold and we told them to turn on the heater but they didn’t, we were 3 and need 3 individual beds which they didn’t have
- jane (4/5): - It was filthy dirty, holes in walls and doors
The only good thing was the distance to St Pancras station
- Neal (8/5): - Staff were very helpful- chatting and smiling
- Alison (8/5): - Already stated
- katieisobel41 (6/5): Good location and friendly - I can only speak about our experience at this hotel. When i booked it i knew it was not going to be perfect and was quite apprehensive after reading all the terrible reviews. All i can say is that the bed linen was spotless, the bed comfortable and the lady on reception was lovely. The location is good and the street was fairly quite at a night. The rooms are small and dated with a mish mash of furniture and a window that wouldn't close but being on the third floor and with the hot weather this was not a problem for us.
- Nichola (6/5): Long weekend in London. - Well located hotel just a 5 minute stroll from Kings Cross / St Pancras, with very helpful staff.
The rooms are very small and the shower rooms are tiny - just enough room to turn around.
The staircases are steep so if you are mobility restricted then not for you.
The rooms could do with a refit but it's OK for a night or 2.
- Peter (8/5): Kings Cross Hotel - I had a great stay at Kings Cross Hotel. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and the facilities were well maintained.
- jaynegH2067RN (2/5): Avoid. - Nothing to recommend about this hostel. Stairs are lethal steep and very narrow. Everything in this hotel is on the cheap. Would never stay again
- Marshalls3smm (2/5): Do not book here!!!! I cannot shout this loud enough!!! - King’s Cross inn more like King’s Cross hostel. We didn’t even stay was too dangerous for us to stay. To start the door would not open from outside, the hall and room smelt of stale cigarette smoke. The bathroom was…. Awful ! The light fitting was hanging off the ceiling with wires showing, the ceiling in the bathroom was hanging down. The air con didn’t work when on it vibrated the room and was so loud that it was useless. The delightful view out the locked window was of scattered rubbish and piles of rubbish. The pillows stained with goodness knows. The topping on this delightful hell hole was the pube found in my daughter bed (she didn’t touch the bed).
The man on reception offered another room… with added eau de damp, stale cigarette smell and general unpleasantness.
Please save your money book elsewhere!! Most hostels I’ve seen are safer, cleaner with a useable bathroom.
- andiiiiiiiiii (4/5): Don't go... - Horrible, tiny rooms, a sink in the room, plastic shower and toilet stuffed into a container. No air condition, with more the 30C outside when I was there. Hallway very narrow, everything feels extremely cramped. Loud area, hard to sleep with window open. Impossible to do any work (and I was there on business)
One (the only) good thing: The breakfast was better than expected, with fresh berries which were really good.
- collette (2/5): - Rooms are tiny, no airflow, smells of sewage and damp, no lifts so difficult with luggage. The only thing going for this property is it's close to Kings Cross station.
- Abigail (10/5): - Easy to get to from the tube station and close to lots of shops. The staff were really nice and helpful the whole time. Room was kinda small but good for one night, I would defo recommend x
- Jennifer (6/5): - Great location to Kings Cross. Small and basic room but sufficient for a simple overnight stay.
- Wendy (8/5): Basic - Very easy to find and close to Kings Cross station
Staff friendly.
Room small but had en suite, kettle. Tv etc. and all i needed
Decor plain and paintwork dated but clean
Economical
- Leanne (6/5): - Basic and sufficient for needs
- Alfredo (2/5): - The pro about staying here was the convenience of the location near the train station and price, cons is that it was very outdated and small.
- PeterJC13212 (2/5): One Stay Never Back Again - Booking in was easy and quick, but that is the end of good here. We were given Room 2 down stairs, on opening the door we were shocked, there was 1 double and 1 single bed which left almost no room for our 2 bags, then things got worse, as per the photo's.
The walls and ceilings were damp, the single bed was covered in white flakes, the ceiling in the shower was terrible.
By morning our bags and clothes were covered in white specks maybe paint ? We do not recommend making a booking here.
- Sharon (6/5): - Smelly drains and tiles in the bottom tiles disgusting
- Jennifer (4/5): - Shower room extremely small, sink was tiny, nowhere to hang towel, bed not made in morning, location good for travelling that’s it
- AMSM_12 (2/5): Do not stay here - Very unhelpful staff
I booked this hotel for July 2026 instead of 2025 by mistake as the booking.com app automatically defaulted to 2026. My opinion is that this was to mislead people into booking the wrong year. Within minutes I realised and tried to cancel. The hotel ignored all messages and despite booking.com asking them to waive the fee the hotel refused despite the booking being 12 months away and it was for one night only.
- Hannah (8/5): Would stay again - Friendly staff on check in great location. Perfect for early Eurostar at St Pancras the next morning
- David (8/5): A couple of days to start the holiday - The location was awesome as I was going to the British Museum and then taking the Eurostar at St Pancras. The room was small but expected the bathroom was good with good water pressure. The staff were excellent and friendly. I recommend it.
- James (4/5): Water Pressure - the hotel is average as a bedsit, budget hotel, very basic accomadation, no fan or A/C.
No water pressure so showering was not an option, this was on the 3rd floor.
- TRACY (4/5): - Room was tiny should never be a double, put case on shelf high up and it ended up covered in dust. Staff helpful and polite. Property in need of upgrade as looks tired. Have stayed in similar priced properties locally which were far better.
- Ian (6/5): - The room was clean. The receptionist took our bags up to our room on the top floor. It was easy access from St Pancras and Kings Cross.
The room and en suite were small with a broken shower screen.
Good for an overnight, but not great for a longer period. I should add that we do normally try to book "Very Good" or "Excellent" properties, but this suited our travel arrangements.
- Charity (8/5): - Conveniently located near the train station.
- jacqueline (4/5): - .
- Rob (8/5): - All good , and good value for money , very good location
- Timothy (6/5): - Budget stay very close to Eurostar. As expected really for the price, a int somewhat shabby room but perfectly adequate for one night
- Robbie (6/5): - Location excellent but room was too small and very stuffy
- Amanda (4/5): - The room was not much bigger than a walk in cliset. Shower door hinge was broken and didnt close. Would NOT recommend nor return.
- David (8/5): - I stopped at kings cross Hotel for 2 night to attend a football match, great location easy for transport links.
- Andy (4/5): Very poor - The hotel is in very poor condition. It’s barely ok for a stop over if you have an early Eurostar to catch, but this hotel is no place to stay for anything else. The rooms are tiny and the decor is very poor. The immediate location also has rough sleepers outside the front door.
- Evelien (6/5): - Close to King’s Cross station, which is ideal!
Room was ok for a short 3-night stay. Bathroom could use some needed upgrades, shower was hot or cold. A bit pricey for the condition of the room, but close to the station so that compensates the price for me
- steve (10/5): - Staff were very friendly.
- Diamantino (4/5): Poor hotel - The room was "very" small , the bathroom was "very small" , the basin took ages to drain , the maintenance was clearly lacking , room has not seen paint in ages , the only good thing going for this places is location, other than that i would not return under same circumstances.
- Christa (10/5): - Walkable
- Donna (4/5): - The room was very small looked unclean with a towel collecting water from a leaking radiator. The bathroom was tiny with a broken shower head that wouldn't stay up and looked unclean. Mugs and kettle were dirty therefore couldn't have a hot drink in the morning.
- BO XIANG (6/5): - I need to book four hotels for my European trip, and l have bought full insurance. The first hotel l booked was from you, and the booking process did not involve insurance, but in the end I had to spend more than $50 to buy unnecessary insurance. I am very angry about your management and will not book hotels from your company. The next three hotels will be booked from other
companies.

- James (6/5): - So, lovely guy on reception. Promised a nicer room if we returned. Very convenient as other hotels were very expensive due to marathon and FA cup. Room was small and despite being down a road off the main drag was quite noisy. It was Saturday night though.
- Susan (2/5): - This hotel is designed for the low budget backpacker
I felt unsafe due to the door locks. It is like a bedroom door in a house. There's an exit door. I felt it's too easily accessible to break into either door into a very small room
- Deborah (2/5): Flithy Place - The Hotel shouldn't be called a hotel more a dirty hovel. I have no idea how the are able to function legally with the standards they have. Dirty, double room was a queen size bed with a mattress so lop sided we had to sleep top to tail in a queen size. There was never any staff at reception to complain to and there was noise all hours of the night, banging and shouting. Not seen curtains that filthy in my life. Glass bottle tap water in the room, god knows how old? Do not waste your hard earned cash there.
- Prashant (4/5): - Too compact.
- Christopher (4/5): - Beware of the mice.
- Laura (6/5): - For under £85, it's central, quiet, walkable to King's Cross st, the underground, shops and restaurants. Even the slowest of walkers wouldn't take more than 5 minutes. It's clean enough, abit tired. Rooms are pretty small but for central London, it's absolutely ideal. And it was a great price.
Would absolutely stay again!
- Leon (4/5): - Great location and very friendly staff however my room was very small and it wasn't very clean .
- Benjamin (2/5): Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in! Disgusting! - The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at! It’s run down in every way you could imagine! There were dead flies on the walls, some Alice felting around the room! There were hundreds of ants all over the floor and on the bed! I killed loads and then they appear again. Notified the hotel. Water dripping from the light fitting in the toilet which was hanging down and off. A real musky/dirty smell in the room. Bed sheets were clean but stains over them. The bed base was metal and could feel the middle of the bed metal through the middle! Will never stay again! Ever
- NORMA (6/5): - The room is extremely small, but I cannot complain about the customer service. Next to railroad station and dining areas.
- stephen (10/5): Trainmadsteve - The room was ok, comfortable clean apart from a few tiles at the bottom in the shower, very close to King's cross/ St Pancras (5 min walk) and Euston (11 min walk) loads of places to eat around the area.
Be warned this is not a high end hotel hence the price but it will suit your needs if you're travelling from any of the stations i mentioned, on the whole a good place to stay.
- AIDAN (10/5): - Great welcome from staff, basic room - just what I ordered. Great location
- Nicholas (10/5): Excellent VFM - Very comfortable hotel, although walls are a little thin (had a neighbour who got back later)
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The accommodation had a musky smell which was being masked by air freshners in the hallway and room.
The room was clean enough. Could do with freshing up the decor (white wash) as the walls and skirting are dirty looking. The shower needs a fresh seal and mould in the bathroom needs addressing. Room 6!
- Robert (6/5): Nice enough hotel. - A nice enough place. Friendly staff, great location. Five minutes from Kings Cross station, underground and bus routes. Yet, surprisingly quiet during my stay. Clean and tidy room, but a bit small for me, especially toilet/shower/sink crammed into a really small space.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Poor hotel - Had to wait outside and ring bell for access to the hotel. No answer. If cold or wet it would be much more of a drama. Called the hotel no. Which rang and rang. Eventually answered and told the receptionist was out and would return soon. It was the same chap who left as we arrived, but he didn't think to let us in while he popped out. Tiny, tiny double room. One sided access to bed. Extremely small bathroom. Couldn't access or exit the shower if someone on the loo or using the basin. Smell outside reception from loos. Stair treads narrow and rather dangerous. Whole place feels really cramped and a bit of a dangerous place if there was a fire. Plug in room wouldn't accept a plug. Not satisfactory at all, even for £67 odd quid.
- Christopher (8/5): Good - Nice and clean room. good price
- Yihao (2/5): - I originally planned to stay here for two days, but the first day's living experience was too poor and I went to stay elsewhere the next day. There is no elevator, the stairs are very narrow, the guest rooms are small, and as soon as you enter the room, there is a strong smell of disinfectant, and the sound insulation is not very good
- Thom Chalo (4/5): - The property needs upgrading. The corridor so tiny, difficult move wirh luggage. No waiting area. The room not spacious. Need for effort on cleanliness.
The good side of the property is that it is close to amenities and about 5 minutes walk to KingsCross station.
- Andrew (8/5): - Very basic but well located.
- ALEXANDRE (2/5): Smells bad - The dirtiest place I've ever stayed.
- Jonathan (8/5): Responsive reception, basic facilities. - I booked last minute as had flown in for a meeting which was delayed until the evening. All I needed was a bed, a bathroom and warmth, since external temperatures were heading towards zero. On reaching the room on the second floor via a narrow staircase, I had my doubts about the latter.
The radiator was not working in the room, although the one on the landing outside was warm. I noticed a fan heater in the room. There was a single, fairly thin, duvet. Somewhat perturbed, I approached the gentleman at reception. He acknowledged that the radiator was not working, hence the provision of fan heater.
I asked if another duvet could be provided and he said that one would be available when I returned. He was as good as his word. I slept well, comfortably and warmly.
The other facilities were basic. Tea, coffee, kettle and biscuits were provided. On one wall socket, the top pin seemed to be damaged. Clean towels were provided. I left on good terms with reception.
- todd (4/5): - The room was tiny, think cruise ship but smaller. The room was cold and had no thermostat. Black mold in a shower that was so small, no way could you bend down to soap up. The bathroom sink was beyond small. The bed was a single, double bed even though the website said it would have 2 beds. The staff was friendly
- Tracy (6/5): - Very basic, welcoming staff but room really small, basic and bathroom had no shelf or hooks for toiletries and towels.
- Adrian (4/5): - Heating didn't work in our room and toilet was leaking on the bathroom floor
- Raymond (8/5): Handily located - A perfectly adequate hotel very close to Kings Cross which suited my needs accordingly
- Daniel (10/5): - It was the day before election day in the US and I had no way of printing and filling out my ballot to upload it until the host told me she could print it, wait for me to fill it out, use the scan app on her iPhone, and email the documents to me to help me out. This is above and beyond in hospitality services.
- Nick (10/5): - Staff are amazing, in need of some TLC. Dont expect much wouldnt pay more then £80p/n to stay here. Basic but clean.
- Paul (4/5): - It was cheap and sufficient for one night.
- Michelle (6/5): Does for a bed for the night but nothing more! - Rooms are tiny… not enough room to even have your bags out of the way. Showers were temperamental, clearly affected by other hotel users. Bath towels were more like hand towels!.. although these were changed daily. Walls are paper thin so can literally hear people even just talking normally through the walls. Did us for just a bed for the nights but wouldn’t stay there again.
- AWilliams1978 (4/5): You get what you pay for! - I didn’t have high hopes and wasn’t disappointed. It was fine for a bed to get the first Eurostar to Paris the next morning. Rooms were tiny, a bit grubby, the TV didn’t work, half the lights didn’t work, but it was a 5 minute walk to the Eurostar terminal.
- Raynor Louise (4/5): - No breakfast
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Room 4. The room walls were mouldy. Blind at doors was full of mould. The shower was mouldy. No window to open. Kettle too big for sink to allow filling. Refilled bottle of water left by hotel but was in doubt about using because of the mouldy walls and blind.
- Antony W (2/5): Did NOT stay here - Did not stay here. Awaiting refund as hotels.com website put me in for wrong night
- James (2/5): Terrible hotel! - Bad, moldy smell in the room, and sewer smell in the bathroom. The receptionist mysteriously disappeared, and so did not turn off the loud fire alarm that persisted for over 15 minutes. While waiting, other guests confirmed that their rooms smelled bad too. The polite and apologetic receptionist the next morning was the only bright spot in our stay. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone!
- lizsX4064DD (2/5): Terrible stay - Uncomfortable bed, unhelpful staff when I asked for pillows and and extra towel each and didn’t get them, mattresses disgusting covered in stains, holes in doors shower lead broken and leaked complained to staff and very unhelpful. The noise was ridiculous from other rooms worst night sleep ever Def won’t recommending or be returning
- Lindsay (4/5): - Noisy which disturbed our sleep, mattresses were badly marked shower didn’t work properly, I asked for extra towels and pillows as one 1 of each and this seemed to be an issue
- William (4/5): - Very small room for three people. Room was not made up everyday, garbage emptied, restocked. About the best I could sayis the location wad good.
- Richard (8/5): - Small room but good value for money and clean
- Sharjeel (4/5): - 5 mins walk from St. Pancras Station.
However, the room was tiny, and there was a bad odor around the basement and in room. therefore, the room costed almost £130 for 1 night.
NOT RECOMANDED
- Grant (10/5): - Great staff, clean room.
- beckyah04 (10/5): the London Kings cross hotel review - Stayed here for 1 night. Brilliant location & hotel that I been to this hotel in April 2023 last year to spend the night before we go on the Eurostar to France on the next day. the room on the lower ground floor was clean and cosy with little noise from outside. Staff really helpful. Would definitely recommend & cannot understand the negative reviews- we have definitely stayed in this hotel in London Kings cross.
- Georgiana (8/5): Short stay in King's Cross - Clean room, comfy bed, decent bathroom + shower (the shower head needs replacing).
- Kate (2/5): - The property is very tired and wasn't cheap. We were on the 3rd floor and had to go down a level to get the lift up which didn't go to our level so was hard with heavy cases. There is no sound proofing. We got zero sleep due to the air con unit sounding like a river was running through it and it was to hot when it was off. Also people were coming back throughout the night and early hours shouting and making noise and you can hear absolutely everything.
The shower power was amazing but leaking into the bathroom as no drainage. Great location though!
- Karen (2/5): - We were given a basement room that smelled like sewerage. No vent so we had to open window. Mosquito came in but would rather have air in. No AC vent either. I know London doesnt usually have ACs but a fan would have helped with circulating the bad air inside. I asked for a fan, front desk said they dont have.Even our clothes smelled bad. I would have not minded the tiny room and tiny bathroom if the air didnt smell like sewerage inside and outside the door of our room.
I could have spent more and chose a hotel close by. There are better hotels along the street.
- Macy (10/5): - Perfect for an overnight stay, a block from the train station
- Bradley (2/5): - Okay. where do I start, add said private bathroom to begin with, it was all shared, it had a foul odour through the building and there was constantly weird noises in rooms surrounding.
