- Z3949HWmaries (8/5): A Balanced Stay at Victory Hotel in HCMC - The Victory Hotel in HCMC is just fine for visiting the city and surrounding area. Its nothing fancy but the rooms were clean. The staff were very helpful with all our requests, accommodating and polite. The location is great if you are looking to do things around the downtown area. It is extremely close to the War Remnants Museum, Independence Palace and so many other sites. My only frustration was with the pool. They open the pool to outside paid groups so when we wanted to use the pool it was usually crowded with kids doing swim lessons and adults getting their daily laps in. Its a challenge to carve out some space for vacationing children who just want to goof off. The pool itself is large and has a very nice deck and location. I asked the staff about the group swim classes and was advised to swim earlier in the day - um hard no, I'm on vacation and have exploring to do in the mornings, thank you very much. The breakfast buffet, included with our room package, seemed good, unless your vegetarian. For vegetarians they have an omelet/pho station and enough non meat items to get you through the day. The coffee was terrible. Just save your taste buds and get coffee somewhere else. My struggle with this hotel was one I have often in SE Asian countries, there seems to be no consistency on room occupancy and bed size. We had one of those moments where we walked in the room and were like, "Oh this is gonna be interesting." We had two people sleep on the floor for the first night until we could secure a larger room the next day. Overall its a good clean hotel, with a great location, very nice staff and a good price.

Room was good, tv reception was terrible, and the balcony was not able to be used (could only stand). The Bar only had a few spirits and beer. The staff were lovely but I wouldnt stay there again unless it was upgraded.
- Connector64408772751 (2/5): DON’T BOOK THIS HOTEL - The hotel looks nothing like the pictures. We found so much hair and mold in the rooms. The towels are dirty and ripped. The worst: our friends came to their room after the room cleaning realising the room smells like cigarettes. They go to the lobby, and THE LOBU STAFF tolds them “yeah they are from Somali, they smoke when they clean the rooms, what can we do?”. We checked out immediately next day and they still refuse to refund us the rest 3 weeks of the stay. We opened up a case and waiting at the moment. If you love yourself a little, don’t come to this nightmare place.
- josephmJ1114VD (2/5): Disgusting, unlivable conditions - DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!! Hands down worst hotel I have ever stayed in my entire life. Originally booked for three weeks we only stayed for a night and was a living hell. We arrived and the room smelt of mold and urine, there was hair left in our bathroom shower, the bathroom was crusted on the inside like a public bathroom, wifi was non existent, and air conditioning only had one setting which was either extremely cold or off. We thought we could make it through one week and then move to another hotel but after one night we were proven wrong. There were holes in our sheets, we asked for them to be changed and instead they just put another blanket over them, so we slept on top of the beds and froze with the ac. The bathroom sink faucet sputtered water out if that is even a way to describe it. Our noses became clogged from the smell of mold which could be seen on the walls and in the bathroom. Trying to sleep, we were kept up all night by a club that was playing music so loud our room was vibrating. In the morning we contacted our travel agency to cancel the stay and get a refund, the hotel tried to have us move rooms but after seeing other rooms which smelled and looked the same we told them we wished to cancel and get a refund of our money. They made us have Expedia, our booking platform call them and then send them an email listing everything wrong with the hotel. They inspected our rooms and were unable to even defend the mold growth and disgusting conditions. After 2 hours of dispute we were able to receive a refund which they refused to put back onto our credit cards and instead gave us a ridiculous amount of cash. We were fortunately the first room in our larger group to go through this process. They became increasingly difficult with next groups taking the entire first day to refund 2 more groups the money. The others they only offered partial refund to for the same conditions forcing them to dispute the charges with their credit card. I felt so bad for the two receptionists who were trying their best to answer calls and answer our questions as their managers hid from us. When I say hid, I mean they would send the ladies to speak to us and hide behind a column in the lobby. They lied to us multiple times as well as lied to the agents from Expedia who made contact with them. They created an absolute living hell for everyone in our group during our first 3 days in HCMC. Uninhabitable, unsafe, and unacceptable living situations for a 3 star hotel at the price charged to us. We moved to another 3 star hotel nearby for half the price and 10x the quality. Whatever you do, do not stay at Victory Saigon, you will regret it.
- rangeralex (8/5): Lovely rooms - pleasant staff - Very comfortable I read reviews before coming and luckily didn’t find any of the issues they mentioned. The room is lovely (double bed, aircon, ensuite) and the only issues I found were that - the shower spills water all over the floor somehow. I had to make sure to fetch towels changed everyday so I could soak it up - the power to the room is only provided once the card is inside the slot in the room so the aircon doesn’t pre-cool the room. (No big deal) I was pleasantly surprised that bottled water is provided in the room (and replenished daily) The staff are lovely but most don’t speak any (or minimal) English and you need a bit of patience and adaptability to get a message across but it works.

I chose this hotel for the central and convenient location and was not disappointed. The front desk staff was very friendly, thorough and effecient and i was even able to store my luggage during the day before i was able to check in. The room i had been given was very clean and modestly decorated so i was able to settle down for the night with ease. I would happily stay here again. Just make sure you get up early so you can make the most out of their breakfast service.

- Departure35299600350 (10/5): The staff honesty and best service - I chose to stay at Victory hotel for most of my trips to Vietnam because of its location convenience easy access to most well known historical landmarks and my mom’s residence. For this time i stayed at the hotel for a week for attending my mom’s funeral. To my surprise the facility and staff have improved a lot since my last trip to Saigon in November 2023. Both my wife and i have enjoyed my stay because of the breakfast food, the staff friendliness and the cleanliness of the hotel room. The significance of this trip was the honesty of the staff. My mom left me her memento, a gold chain. I kept it in the hotel room safely box for protection as its valueless keepsake from my mom. When i returned to California I realized that I no longer had it in my belongings. I had been so sad and upset for my absent minded. I emailed the staff at the hotel with a slim hope to find it. To my great surprise and joy. The staff has responded promptly with a good news. They found and kept it safe for me. It has been my great appreciation for finding back my mom’s souvenir. My heart melted by the hotel staff esp. the room service and the front staff. Attached is the extract from the response from the hotel to my inquiry. “Kính gửi anh , chị! Khách sạn chúng tôi xác nhận anh, chị có quên 1 dây chuyền ( để trong hộp). Hiện tại dây chuyền này đang được chúng tôi cất giữ. Anh chị vui lòng đến quầy Lễ Tân khách sạn nhận lại! - 657reneey (6/5): Ok stay for a 3 star hotel in Vietnam - For a 3 star hotel in Vietnam, we found it ok. It was clean and the airco worked well. The location is tops, very central. The beds were very hard although we found that in pretty much every hotel in Vietnam. There is a swimming pool on the top floor that the kids loved. The breakfast was the worst we had in Vietnam but really every 3 star hotel had about the same offering, only this one was slightly worse with limited fresh fruit and only boring, white bread. The staff were fine. Our experience was ok, better than the reviews here.

Breakfast isn't worth going to if you are not into noodles and fried rice. Better hotels in this city. Go there instead.
- Krautmick (2/5): Simply Uncomfortable - If all the hotels we stayed in, during our Vietnam tour, this was the low point. The only good thing I can say about the lobby was the AC. Why does the lobby matter? Cause the room was so cramped, it was good for nothing but sleeping in. Noisy, old AC, hard beds and even harder chairs. Nothing inviting to relax. So what do you do, you go for a drink downstairs. Except it’s the same. Hard wooden ‘thrones’ look nice but are only good for a short rest while waiting for someone. Bar options are limited, the place is extremely uninviting. Ok, the pool then. Nope, a swimming class during the day and in the evening I get hustled by the staff. Still not sure if we were supposed to bring our own towels up or not. The whole pool is operated like a public facility and we never went back in the three nights we spent there. All in all, I would never come back here. It only works for a bed for the night, and there are better options in that class.
- Cbarr610 (2/5): Avoid if possible/ misled - Bought a day pass for the pool. There is no pool bar or a place to buy snacks/ lunch. Asked if we could leave and return we were told no by the lifeguard, who was quite rude. We went to reception and at first they said yes you may go out and return to the pool. They called lifeguard who said we already had a swim and we cannot leave and return as it's single entry (we were there 20 minutes max). Nowhere on our ticket did it say single entry. It did however state "day pass". Avoid if possible. 😊😊
- GoonerBal007 (2/5): Avoid, avoid, AVOID ! - We recently stayed in what the hotel laughingly call a superior room. The shower looks like it dates back to the 60s and produced very little water flow. The room itself has only 2 electric sockets, 3 if you include the bathroom. The breakfast has very little for the western palate, pretty much just bread rolls or toast, as the fresh fruit option was often only 1 item (occasionally 2). The air con in our room worked on only 1 of the 3 nights we stayed there (even though it was ‘fixed’ when we spoke to them after the first night it didn’t work, and then broke down again the next night), meaning we had 2 of the 3 nights trying to sleep in sauna like heat & humidity. The lobby bar is pretty much a fridge to get cans of drink out of and pay for. The tin lid on the stay was our washing bill - we had a few smaller (underwear etc) items to wash, but as they charge by the item (we assumed it would be by the kilo), the bill when we checked out was over GBP30 equivalent (a heavier load in Hoi An cost us under GBP3) ! Location is OK, and bed was large & comfortable (when the air con worked and kept the air temp down), but that’s about the only redeeming features.

Staff does not speak English so the communication is bad. There is plenty hotel in Saigon so shop around before you decide to pick Victory.
- JimRachelle (6/5): Good Location for Tired Hotel - The hotel is in a great location. Close to many restaurants and musuems. Breakfast came with our rooms but it was dissapointment. Watered down juice, limited selection of fruit and only white bread. The Pha soup was okay and had it every breakfast. There were seven of us in the group and some missed breakfast. The rooms are a decent size but bathroom Is dated as is the carpet. The bed was comfortable. Service was good but not welcoming like has been our experience in other hotels in Vietnam. It books many business meetingd so beware as karaoke is a thing at tgese meetings. Pool is big and excellent.

- 654ariaa (8/5): Lady Pho Soup and Egg station, Jan12 - Jan19, 2020 - I am putting 4 star just because 1 lady in the Pho soup and Egg station serving every morning at the restaurant name Nguyen Thi Huong, she really has the hospitality what every hotel need, she know what guest needs and how to serve them, it is really felt like home every morning she serve me Beef Pho and cook egg as i wants it. The housekeeping they really clean my room i like it! Since i reach hotel on Jan12 from reception, back offices, security and all waitress no smile at all, please change the mattress its to hard. Conclusion: Housekeeping good, make sure to meet the Pho Egg station on breakfast lady name Nguyen Thi Huong she really nice person. please send my regards to her and pls give my email to her if she visit Malaysia let me cook breakfast for her.
- eileent3821 (6/5): HARD BED AND FLAT PILLOWS!!! - An old, but a well-maintained hotel with nice staff. Non-smoking rooms throughout the hotel. The room was spacious, but the bed was hard and pillows flat. Safe didn't work in my room. The shower too was only over the bath. No tea or coffee facilities were provided in the room, only a kettle! The mini-bar items are pretty cheap, and around the corner is a big supermarket which makes the location a bit more attractive. Breakfast was great with a massive selection of food to choose from. Was totally unimpressed with the staff as I had previously made some request via email and although they had agreed to acede to my requests, they did not fulfill them.

The personnel was very very friendly and we made a lot of fun over there. The rooms are spacious, clean and the shower is amazing (rainshower type)! They offered a free bottle of water on the arrival which was nice, especially during a hot day.

Swimming pool need a fee, that’s weird. Good breakfast with lots of choice including delicious pho and local snacks. Close to airport bus stop with only 1-2mins walk( crossing one road opposite). But one big bad point for this hotel, it is very noisy inside. Hotel pool opened to public and my room is on 5/F , can hear very loud and clear noise from people at pool on 6/F, also noise from nest door. Air conditioner is noisy. My family and I can hardly sleep during our stay. It’s true, very noisy, not just some noise.

- P A (8/5): Older hotel but good for value and location. - Our third visit to this older, traditional Vietnamese hotel and the staff were very friendly and professional, as always. Particular thanks to the lovely lady who manages the Business Centre as she was exceptionally helpful in solving a computer/banking glitch! We’ll definitely base ourselves there again as it is on the direct bus line from the airport and almost halfway between the Colonial monuments/modern city centre and the backpacker area and its nightlife and cheap eateries.

Their '24 hour reception' consists of a night manager who literally sleeps behind the reception counter. After putting us in a twin room (when we asked for a double) and us waking him up for a second time, he finally got us our room. It was alright. The 'free breakfast' is really not worth it. The pool charges 60,000 dong per visit - which, in spite of being very cheap, is also not worth it.

- Jim (2/5): Bad service, very poorly ran hotel! - Evening check in at Saigon Victory Hotel. Got Ignorant service upon checking into the hotel. I was very unhappy with this feeling from the get go. Made my stay feel very unwelcome. Had to pay extra to use the pool and pay extra to use the small gym equipment. Poor taste there as it is already part of the hotel and not ran by a third party. Room size was as expected. Ok amenities, with good Dove soap to use for showering. Buffet Breakfast was filling... but only average compared to another hotels in the area. Would not recommend this hotel. Very unhappy experience overall. Will NOT be back.

I must correct the exaggeration by other travellers about having to pay a lot to use pool. Actually is only 60,000 Dong or $4 US. Pay as you use is good for all travellers. And is not excessive.

- Laura (6/5): Good location, but business focused - Having stayed at a number of hotels in Vietnam during my holiday, this one was the only one that was disappointing. Whilst perfectly well located in close reach of the main tourist sights, the overall welcome was not what we'd come to expect. Everywhere else we stayed was led by friendly, welcoming and helpful staff but here we were made to feel as though our presence was a bit of an inconvenience. Staff were professional but not very friendly or helpful and the hotel seems more geared up to business travellers than sightseers. Facilities are good but you have to pay to use the swimming pool, which as a guest of the hotel seemed strange to me. Breakfast was widely varied, with something for everyone. Room was large but was damp, and not very comfortable - the mattress was like lying on an ironing board but the showers were excellent and there is a bath as well. Noise from reception carried up loudly to our second storey room and music plays from 6am until 10pm in the corridors - again a bit strange. There is a spa but we didn't make use or this. There is also a bar but you can't add drinks to your room and there isn't anywhere communal that's comfortable/welcoming to relax with bigger groups.

- Triple (6/5): This is the Vietnamese hotel - The hotel guest is mainly local people. But all staffs can speak English. Minimum necessary is satisfied. The room door lock was hard to close. The door opened itself without strong closed. And the hotel housekeeper ignored my "Don't disturb" sign. But for me it is acceptable. I think this is what Vietnamese culture.
- Craig (6/5): Old Hotel in good location - Over all the location on the edge of District 3 is very good. There is no coffee or tea in the rooms but there is an electric kettle. Super market near by. The pool on level 6 is a paid for service not part of the tariff - 60,000VND per use or per day. The massage service on level 7 is not good and you should expect to be ask for exorbitant tips. The breakfast service is good.

- Patricia (6/5): A comfortable, value, central hotel. - Very comfortable 6 days during the madness of the Tet celebrations. The hotel is older but the room was spacious, cleaned meticulously every day and the staff, from front desk to house maids, were very courteous and helpful. A big bonus was the swimming pool on the roof! The breakfast was a good mix of eastern & western but, as more families arrived, developed into a real scrum particularly as there were not enough tables to cope. Thehotel's position is extremely close to all the museums/ parks/cathedral etc and a few blocks from a large shopping mall. About 30 minutes on foot from the backpacker district so it ticked all the boxes for us.
- Darren (6/5): Better Hotels Around - Hotel rooms are a little outdated. Very odd that the coffee/tea making facilities consist of kettle and nothing else, no coffee, tea or cups. When asked about this apparently this is for VIP rooms only. Avoid the 5th floor as above is a noisy conference area where the movement of the furniture is very loud. If you like hard beds this will suit. Breakfast is good although bacon is cold and coffee ordinary. Pool is good although a little aged and the staff are quite rude. Also AC in our room was barely adequate. That said it is in a good location for access to museums, shopping and food in district 3 and a short taxi ride to district 1.

I was a little disappointed with the buffet breakfast choices, but then again I am a picky eater. Please beware when walking on the sidewalks. Motorbikes will ride up on the sidewalks and my traveling partner had her purse ripped right off of her and it was across her body! This happened during rush hour with many other people around right around the block from this hotel. The room key was in the purse and we were charged $10 since it was lost, which I thought should have maybe been excused given the circumstance.

I am sure that I will come back. Victory Hotel is placed very close to the citycenter, to many sights, to green areas and parks. You can walk to most of it. The hotel is a good choice.
- Jimbo (8/5): A 4 star hotel - A great hotel which is worthy of a 4 star rating. the location is close very to the Independence palace & war remnants museum . The markets & post office is only 15 minutes walk away. A trip to the Cu Chi tunnels is a must see. Eating out can be so cheap & a 450 mil bottle of beer @ AUS$1.25 !!!!!!! Pedestrian crossings don't mean much in this part of the world,as trying to cross on one is a bit hairy The motor bike riders( they number in the millions) don't take too much notice of road rules.Riding on the footpath or against the traffic is all part of their way of life. Car & bus drivers are not as bad but still crazy. It's quite an experience ENJOY

Suitable for business travellers. On the other hand, there are not many restaurants around the area. Its also a 15 minute walk to the nearest shopping areas.

- Brandy (4/5): Not for Westerners - Room a good size but with very hard beds and both rooms we had had lots of small ants in bathroom and bedroom which got into suitcases etc. Swimming pool crowded with local children having swimming lessons and pool dirty so not a good facility. Very little choice for 'Western' breakfasts in hotel which seemed to consist of toast, various kinds of bread/cakes and juice. Asian options seemed to be more like 3/4 course main meals. Very few restaurants around. Staff not very helpful and just got the impression that Westerns were not catered for or really made to feel welcome.Would not recommend this hotel and would suggest hotels in District 1 would be the better option. Traffic very heavy all day/night and pavements ridden on by motorbikes/scooters and cars, so very difficult to walk safely, traffic just had to be dodged when crossing roads as the only road rule seems to be no rules. Red lights zebra crossings etc make no difference as they were just ignored.

- Carolyn (2/5): Probably THE WORST HOTEL I have ever stayed in. - Beds were rock hard so could not sleep, smoking in the corridor was permitted so our "non-smoking" room stunk of smoke (we thought there was a fire), horrible food for breakfast (couldn't find anything at all we wanted to eat), no hot water, awful place, do not recommend.
- Sue (6/5): Big Hotel - Arrived during a Wedding! As we were only staying overnight this hotel served our purpose. The staff were great. The hotel was very noisy, being a large hotel people were coming and going all night! When we booked we thought this was closer to airport!
