Guest Reviews
- Sally (2/5): Extremely disappointing!! - Location WiFi broken when we arrived and was not fixed during our stay
No breakfast available
Lack of communication regarding restaurant being closed for a private function in the evening so had to find somewhere else to eat
Leaking pipe under bathroom sink resulting in pool of water on the floor
- Maria (8/5): Very convenient location - Nice breakfast in a picnic basket. No chair to sit on to eat the breakfast
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Keeling (7/5): - We liked the location of the hotel and enjoyed the food that was provided. It was in a peaceful setting. The service was very good, and it was especially nice seeing 2 baskets with a selection of breakfast items outside our room. I enjoyed the gluten-free range! The staff were pleasant. It was a great break away. I couldn't find anything we didn't like.
- Sarah (9/5): -
- Elizabeth (7/5): - Pub with lots of character. Bed was a bit too soft and the room was small but OK for one night
- Carolynn (10/5): -
- jenny (7/5): Pleasant but could be far better with just a few tweaks. - Location and restaurant Drains smelt badly in one of our rooms. The shower in the other was a small stream. The side access was dirty and cluttered.
- Sharon (8/5): -
- Cynthia (7/5): -
- Mark (8/5): -
- Katie (8/5): -
- susie (7/5): It was fine - Very poor shower no power
- cantrell (9/5): -
- Viv (9/5): Great pub, great restaurant, great room in the middle of Wimbledon common. - The breakfast in a basket was great and Nicky made sure I had gluten free options. Dinner in the pub was really good too! Outside of the owners control, but the local parking rules were a bit confusing. Nicky helped to explain the local parking restrictions and I then found a low cost parking space.
- Rachel (2/5): Pretty disappointing in all - The location was good, but the service and the food in the pub were not The location
- Natasha (4/5): Overall disappointed - Location Tobermory room had an awful stench - mould / damp / sewer
No English breakfast tea in the room
1st morning no pastries
2nd morning pastries were there the night before 9pm
2nd night returned to the pub / bar at 9:30 and went to the bar for a drink and was informed that bar closes between 9:30 - 10pm. There were still people eating and drinking in the pub but we were still not allowed to have a drink even though it was 9:30 and staying guests. Was very clear that they wanted to close up.
Poor service
Girl behind the bar on the first night was lovely as was the girl serving our table for dinner.
- robert (10/5): A little hidden gem!! - Loved the breakfast basket.
Highly recommended! Having to leave in the morning đ„
- Tone Skaar (9/5): -
- Danny (10/5): Fantastic - Nice & welcoming atmosphere cosy Room lots of complimentary food & drinks in room.
10/10 Everything
- Allsopp (10/5): -
- Carla (9/5): -
- Anne-Mette (3/5): It was a means to an end, that was all. - I had a bed and a bathroom, which of course was the essential, the room did not really warm up but was ok. I was left as the only person on the premises over night, for at least 2 of my 4 nights I was in residence, I did not like that, felt vulnerable, I donât even know if that is legal.
- Trent (7/5): -
- James Cheneler (10/5): -
- Simon (6/5): Just fine - It was like meeting up with an old friend Nowhere to sit and have breakfast in the room
- Tim (8/5): -
- Paul (10/5): Would highly recommend - Location was lovely country in the middle of the city Nothing
- Jonathan (9/5): -
- Donna (6/5): Chef very friendly lovely room comfy bed. Would stay again. - Only 1 teabag that wasn't "flavoured ie green tea" it may be fashionable but not to the point of excluding regular tea. Nowhere near enough sweetners. Same with fashionable to have pan a chocolate + cossiants - what about bread roll + meats if there is no hot breakfast available. Would go again. Chef very helpful. Bar closing very early customers have no choice but to go without or go out . Wifi dropping continuously.
- Noel (7/5): -
- ALison (8/5): An ideal base for an appointment in Wimbledon â food very good and the bedroom really very good inde - Breakfast in a basket was absolutely wonderful for us as we had to check out at 6.45 to get to a local hospital. The room was very quiet it had everything we needed and was very comfortable. There was plenty of hot water and every facility you could possibly want for a pub stay overnight. As with almost every hotel that we have stayed in in recent months, the pillows could've done with replacing. This is not a problem confined to the Fox and Grapes. However, otherwise there was nothing at all that we didn't like!
- ana rosa (5/5): I think there are better choices locally - It was nice to have the hamper outside the room, sadly i did not use it as i normally prefer to have breakfast outside. Small bedroom and a bit noisy
- NICHOLAS (8/5): -
- Jamie (10/5): - Property was very clean, and the staff were very welcoming. Quiet area Wimbledon
- Rosann (4/5): Tiny rooms and noisy - Inn sleeping rooms were small, and noisy. Plus one night there was a party until midnight and the sound carried to the sleeping rooms. Hence, sleep was lacking. Food service was slow the restaurant was packed. Ate there twice, first day food was excellent, 2nd day food was not properly cooked, very disappointed. Thank you to the staff who carried our luggage to our room upon checkin.
- Mark (10/5): Perfect and ticked all the boxes - The room and staff , lovely picnic basket by the door in the morning with breakfast options in it was very nice . Location to golf course
- Eva Maria (4/5): We have the hotel a chance to reply to the issue on the noise, but they never gave us even the courtesy of a reply. Iâve - The restaurant is nice, the location lovely, though there is no parking. We didnât sleep a wink on our second night. There was an intermittent noise, we think from the air conditioning unit, though the noise didnât stop when we turned the air conditioning off, so e canât be sure. Anyway this noise kept buzzing, intermittently, throughout the night, and didnât allow us to sleep at all.
- Saleem (9/5): -
- Piotr (8/5): - The location was excellent for my needs. The pastry for breakfast was ânothing to write home aboutâ,the âfruitâ was an apple and orange in the fridge..so not what one expects. The jogurt was nice. The room was very small but functional, same for the bathroom. No hair conditioner though.A bit noisy as my room was right above the pubâs kitchen.
- jian (10/5): -
- Fredrika (9/5): - Fint, frÀscht och tilltalande. Mysigt. Att det inte fanns utrymme att sitta och sin frukost vid pÄ rummet.
- diana (9/5): Very pleasant stay with a great breakfast hamper - Very comfy room. Very nice breakfast hamper plus yogurt, juice, butter and milk in fridge and good supply of tea, coffee and Biscoff! Nice atmosphere in the pub and food was good Curtain tie backs falling off the wall. Shower coukd have been better.
- ANDREW (10/5): Perfect for the tennis! - Charming, clean and well equipped room above the Fox and Grapes gastro pub. Perfect location for the tennis at Wimbledon with a 20 minute walk across the Common. Really appreciated the continental breakfast basket left overnight and the air conditioning. Bonus of free weekend parking on the street oustide. Quiet at night once the pub has closed and had some lovely food in there as well.
- amelia (10/5): Nicely renovated and AC - A really nice cozy rooms with en-suite. Everything youâd need and expect . Such nice people and very accommodating . Food in the pub downstairs was excellent. Easy walk to Wimbledon Village with excellent shops. In this heat the Ac was very welcome and worked well.
- James (10/5): Peaceful accessible to South West London and Wimbledon village, really helpful friendly staff - Quiet, orderly really high standard of decor - rooms had character
- Patricia (8/5): Excellent apart from showrty - Lovely room and friendly staff. The breakfast was good. The meal in the evening was delicious The shower was not safe as very slippery floor and no bath mat supplied to stop slipping. The shower was very slow and not at full flow.
- Jodie (10/5): - This hotel was a find!! We were in town for the Tennis and had a fab nights stay. Great service, super friendly staff, really comfortable rooms and a lovely breakfast delivered by hamper!
Will definitely stay again
- Matthew (7/5): Good - Everything was good except one point The air conditioning didnât cool down the room - but we appreciate it was extremely hot ,
- Deb (10/5): Great stay - Late night check in post a visit to Twickenham - very helpful on arrival and lovely comfy stay in a lovely location
- Gagandeep Singh (6/5): - I had to walk around for breakfast as it wasnt available at the property despite the fact that i had paid for it .
- Ann (9/5): What a fabulous find. - We had a lovely little terrace. The other room had beautiful window boxes. Rooms were very comfortable and spotlessly clean. A lovely breakfast hamper for the morning. Fabulous stay.
- Steven (8/5): - Comfortable stay. A little noisy early morning with staff from the kitchen downstairs. Food was excellent in the bar area and fridge items with breakfast all good quality. I would I stay again.
- Elizabeth (8/5): The chef , Tom , made a real difference offering coffee, helping with phone charging and phoning for - Very good hamper. Reception when I arrived - food had stopped being served and not really welcomed.
- Jessica (10/5): Brilliant place tucked away at Wimbledon Common - Brilliant place to stay in a great location. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and tidy with everything you need. The food in the restaurant was delicious followed by a lovely breakfast delivered to your door in the morning. Will definitely be staying here again. Thank you. Nothing, very happy with the stay.
- Sveinung (8/5): All in all,the location is superb, and chatting to Irish Scef is fantastisk, and he makes grate food!! - It took some time before I got the key code to Get in. I tried to fhone many times, but no answer. I wish the Manager could be more welcoming and perhaps a smileâŠ.
- Rhiannon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gary (7/5): Comfortable stay on lovely Wimbledon Common - Being a Tuesday there was no breakfast, staff available or bar open, but the bed was very comfortable and the pub is beautifully situated on Wimbledon Common. Have used the Fox and Grapes over many years and always been satisfied. However, some minor attention to detail in now required. Towel rail in danger of coming away from the wall, old screw holes and raw plugs visible and only one coffee capsule left for each guest in the room.
- Katherine (9/5): Superb -
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Antoinette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mohson (6/5): Sleepless - Rooms had everything that could be needed, the breakfast basket was excellent The bed was very hard and I didn't sleep at all.
- Gavin (9/5): Superb -
- Adriana (6/5): Average -
"It's an okay place located in a good area of Wimbledon. The staffs is friendly. My only constructive criticism is that they should pay more attention to cleanliness. In my opinion, it's not just about tidying the bed, but also giving a good clean inside and outside the room."
- Louise (9/5): Great location, comfy clean room, pretty pub. - Great location, comfortable room.
Good tea/ coffee facilities , lovely bathroom and great breakfast hamper left outside room.
- Steven (10/5): Beautiful location, amazing place to stay with outstanding customer service. - Beautiful property and the room was fabulous really lovely decor and great quality fixtures and fittings. The staff were really welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Nothing.
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (6/5): - Room was fine. Everything worked and there was an iron and ironing board. Strange breakfast left in a basket outside the room the night before. Had croissants that had been out all night but interestingly, bowls with packets of cereal but no milk. No milk for tea or coffee either. No real issues but not worth ÂŁ100 a night.
- Max (9/5): Very friendly staff in a great location - Location fantastic and staff incredibly helpful. Rooms comfortable.
- Damian (4/5): Disappointing - we left and booked somewhere else - Not a great start as staff didn't know we were arriving.
Rooms are accessed through untidy back area of the pub.
Our room was freezing and not prepared for arrival, but was clean.
Parking is an issue - there isn't any, so you need to park near the common as nearby it is permit parking.
Wimbeldon Village is a long walk and side passage to room is dark and filled with pub material.
Corridor immediatley outside our room absolutely stank - we had to hold our breath!
Ultimately, we decided not to stay here, and paid for another room in Wimbeldon Village instead.
- Graham (10/5): - Lovely stay. Breakfast a great touch.
- Jessica (8/5): - The rooms are located above the pub on a quiet street near to two golf courses. Check-in happened at the bar with friendly staff and we were shown up to our rooms from there. This hotel does not accept American Express, in case you chose the âpay at propertyâ option. Both rooms were clean and well-decorated, one had a little terrace. Iâm not sure the rates matched the rooms however, but we booked here for convenience because we were attending an event nearby.
- Marisa (10/5): We were very happy with our stay and the service was number one - The hole experience was great đ love the place, location, staff were amazing great đ price food was great đ loved it đ„°
- Sarah (10/5): - Lovely place to stay near the Common. Clean quite comfortable with everything youâd need. Dinner downstairs is so convenient and they provide a lovely hamper for breakfast.
- Ian (8/5): Nice comfortable accommodation just off Wimbledon Common. - Nice location next to the Common.
Comfortable room and bed The bathroom sink was blocked and would not drain
Couldn't use pub due to private function which we were not advised about until we arrived at the venue.
- Sarah (8/5): Loved this comfortable haven. - Warm, cozy, comfortable with everything you need including an iron, tea, fresh milk and coffee pod machine + a lovely breakfast left outside your room in a picnic hamper Few stairs but nothing terrible
- Joseph (9/5): Superb -
- Stephen (6/5): Pleasant - Room was good. Location was OK. Staff were friendly. It feels like this is a pub that holds events and the accommodation is more suited to people staying over who are attending the event. There are no options for the solo traveller when events are on.. Important information was not given by staff that would have made the travellers stay more comfortable.
- Leigh Anne (10/5): - Lovely special accommodation.
- Wayne (9/5): Superb -
- Leah (9/5): Superb -
- Julia (10/5): - A perfect place to rest after a busy day at Wimbledon. Free parking near. Rooms are named after Wombles! Restaurant food delish, service excellentâŠ. Breakfast hamper is a nice touch
- Crystal (9/5): Superb -
- Nicola (7/5): Good - Room was clean with comfortable bed and good hot shower Overall good, although no Nespresso machine in the room although was stated in the details. Pastries and cereal in breakfast basket although no milk in the fridge so unable to eat the cereal. We would have also liked to have made a cup of tea in the evening and the morning but no teabags other than green tea and 1 peppermint tea and no milk to make one anyway. As the pub was closed on a Monday when we stayed there was no-one there to ask for milk or teabags so had to make do with just water to drink.
We paid ÂŁ300 to stay here during Wimbledon fortnight and feel this was overpriced given it was lacking the basics you would normally expect at a b&b
- Hannah (9/5): Great staff, good service and facilities - Itâs location was convenient for our trip, the facilities were good value for money and it was welcoming.
- Nicholas (5/5): Passable -
- Steve (10/5): - Lovely pub, lovely room, lovely food, will definitely be returning
- Paul (8/5): Small but well-appointed room above the pub. Peaceful location is perfect. - Friendly welcome, pretty room with aircon. Coffee machine broken, room fridge was off so breakfast items were spolit.
- JULIE (10/5): - Tastefully decorated and comfortable
- Krzysztof (10/5): Best stay in Wimbledon - Spirit of the property and people working in
Very quiet night and comfy bed Water pressure could be better
- Darklite (9/5): Fantastic! - We unfortunately arrived 2 hours early, but the staff were very accomodating and went above and beyond to let us check in early and collapse! The location was very scenic, right next to a big park in a very quiet area, but this did mean you had to walk quite some distance to get to the nearest bus stop. If you are driving, this won't be a problem.
- Sophie (8/5): Really good value - Wonderful location. Nice staff. Great dinner in the restaurant. Very generous breakfast hamper Staff quite noisy in the morning. Coffee pods and instructions in the bedroom but no coffee machine!
- Lenka (10/5): Lovely comfortable modern room, excellently equipped. - The room was beautiful and excellently equipped Nothing to report
- Andreas (6/5): Nice and cozy, but some flaws in the service department - Nice, cosy, good food downstairs in the pub.
Breakfast was included and nice, but no coffee (see below) Pillow cases had no covers, took 45 minutes in the night to get this resolved.
We had coffee capsules, but no coffee maker for it.
- Upton (9/5): Everything was wonderful - I'll definitely be staying there again.
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Anne (10/5): - My husband and I stayed for one night and loved our stay. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by staff at the bar. We had 4 suitcases and in no time we had 4 different male staff members taking our luggage up one flight of steep stairs to our room. Later when we went downstairs to the bar we were made to feel very welcome. Couldnât fault this property. Thank you.
- Suzanne (9/5): Great - Location and relaxed place.
- Anita (10/5): - Lovely room, very quiet and comfortable.Really appreciated the breakfast hamper in the morning. Would definitely stay here again.
- Michael (7/5): Overall very pleasant and staff very friendly but need to tighten up on housekeeping! - the location was perfect for our requirements and the food in the dining rooms was very good with a decent selection of beers. and wines. The staff were very friendly and helpful (although see 1 below) There were a few minor problems with the room: 1 The pillows had no pillowcases and, although this was pointed out to the staff, this was not rectified until 11:20pm; 2. The waste bin in the bathroom had not been emptied and consequently had previous occupant's rubbish; 3. We could not get the Nespresso coffee machine to work (even though I have a similar machine at home) and there were no instructions so not sure if it was faulty or user error!
