Guest Reviews
- Alexander (8/5): - Sehr gute, zentrale Lage. Freundliches Personal.
- Manal (6/5): - The staff were very friendly and accommodating.. the area was great, close to taksim square and the shopping street. However, the facilities and rooms are not what i expected from the photos.
- Cathelijne (10/5): - It was a very nice place , perfect for staying in Taksim!
- gary (10/5): Visit Istanbul - Great location in a wonderful city
- Alexander (8/5): - Gute Lage.
- Robert (10/5): - Staff were very friendly. Hotel location is very good. Price to quality ratio was worth it. Will happily stay here when in Istanbul again
Kiva aamiainen.Erittäin miellyttävä henkilökunta.Olen majaillut tässä Hotellissa monta kertaa.
- Alexander (8/5): - Sehr gute Lage
- Alexander (6/5): - Zentrale Lage Taksim
- Soraya (10/5): Perfect Location - The best part of my stay was the hotel staff, in particular Gökhan. Warm and friendly they made me feel like I was “coming home” when I go back to the hotel. Excellent location.
- Beato (10/5): - Safe
- David (4/5): Christmas break - Hotel itself was ok and nicely situated near Taksim Square. Staff were friendly, and even though we got up late most days the staff always cleaned room once we asked. Room was small but was cosy. Wifi didnt work. Biggest issue we had was lack of sleep due to the many clubs around from which you could hear loud music until around 4am every morning. Then you could hear the clean up truck cleaning the streets.. Big problem for many hotels of this stretch.
- soroushk2022 (6/5): Noisy neighborhood - I think the best thing about this hotel is its staff as helpful and kind they are. However the hotel has problems in details. They can serve breakfast more professional. Our room was big and cozy but unwanted sound penetrated from everywhere!!. The location is great but it is really noisy. The bars and clubs around the hotel are open till 5A.M and there is an awful singer in the front bar, which will annoy you indeed.
- 473assiak (2/5): very bad experience and unprofessional staff - i booked a night stay at the hotel payment was done through booking.com
once at the hotel i was surprised that the hotel is fully booked even my room. the receptionist was very rude and he barely speaks English. my booking was for a double room and he gave me a single room over looking the stairs. The smell of pint is disaster i couldn't breath. the hotel is in a mess and the staff are very rude.
it was the worst night of my life and i'll never come back again
- babulja22 (10/5): Small but cute - Hello everyone! Just yesterday I returned from Istanbul, where I first stayed in the Taksim area ... if you want parties and fun until the morning, you are here ... but at the same time the hotel where I stayed Grand Hotel Palmiye is a little away from the noisy but at the same time fantastically lively streets of Istiklal. The hotel is not large but cozy, there is an elevator, which is not present in that district. I was met by a wonderful Receptionist - Murat (huge hello to him), the check-in was quick and without delay ...
About the room: I ordered a room with a balcony - small one and you must understand that in this area of old houses there will be only French balconies; the cleaning was done every day with the replacement of towels (and they did not bother and came later if I was in the room during the cleaning).
Somehow everything turns out sweetly ... aha ha ha ... a couple of downsides - old plumbing and poor breakfast.
About breakfast: minimal - but by the way you won't stay hungry ...
In general, the Grand Hotel Palmiye has everything to see beautiful Istanbul, walk along the old streets and, of course, relax and gain strength for the next day. Excellent staff will always help you answer your questions and provide possible services.
- shaghayeghkoup (8/5): Small but well located - We spent 2 nights in Istanbul during Covid time. This place is located in the crowded city center, you should know that if there was no lockdown then the noise would bother you, but that was something we benefited from in a quiet time. We could reach anywhere easily and be in the middle of tourist attractions.
The room I booked had 2 queen beds accommodating 4, and I did not pay much attention to the measures given, but it is really small for 4, it could have been annoying in case you want to stay longer.
They provided delicious breakfast and we had our PCR tests in the hotel at a cheaper price than at the airport.
The best part of our stay was the kind and helpful staff.
Merci a eux.
- 193abbasr (2/5): Totally terrible - I spent one night i. e. Less than 12 hours but it was full of adventure. The lobby or something like that was fully chilly, the power shut down three times, the shower was broken, water temperature varies, flash tank started to run at middle of the night, the pillow cover and bedsheet had hairs which show nobody cleaned them.
I strongly recommend don't waste your money and peace.
- Mariam (10/5): - The location is great! Hotel staff are too friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend it.
- Obianuju (8/5): - I particularly like the cleanliness and friendly staff. Special thanks to the staff at the reception who speaks English, he's very kind . Do not let the reception fool you. The rooms are squeaky clean
- pertti (8/5): Hyvä ja halpa majapaikka Taksimissa. - Todella hyvä huone, vaikkakin pieni.Olivat saaneet mahtumaan pieneen tilaan kaiken tarpeellisen.Iso muhkea sänky.Halpa hinta.Hyvä sijainti.Loistava aamiainen.Nyt runsaampi kuin aikaisemmalla kerralla.
- Mariamfakih (10/5): - The location of the hotel is excellent. The room was clean, comfortable and equipped perfectly. The staff were too friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel
- Yasaman (6/5): - I booked the economy double room and I had ensured that my room would have city view. BUT when I arrived and see my room I was shocked. It was a dark room! They said that none of the rooms have city view.I changed my room but I had to pay more.
I don't suggest this hotel to those one who can't stand the noisy place.
The breakfast is not that I expected. It was so simple and routine.
The refrigerator was empty and there is not any tea bag, coffee and chocolate in room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff were amazing, specially the young gentleman at the reception! Can’t thank him enough for being so kind and so sweet and always helping us with everything from room service to weighing our bags to also helping us get around Istanbul! Overall great experience at this hotel however, they could do better with the cleaning and making sure all facilities in the room work eg. fridge, tv etc.
- Blessa (10/5): Bäst - Bästa läge-bästa personal och bästa brisklass
- Narmin (8/5): Perfect! - Otel konumu muhteşem. Rezervasyondakı arkadaşlar çok yardımcı oldular
- murat (2/5): - we went to the hotel that we booked in advance
at 9 am one of the staff told us that the room is not ready yet come back at 12 we went there at 12 other staff sad come back after 14:00 we ask is there a room
they sad yess don’t worry your room will be ready after 14:00 after 16:00we went there again they sad they don’t have a room in this hotel send us to different ona which wasn’t located where we wanted and room was wery bad condition. after that they showed a single or
cancel booking at 17:00 o’clock in taksim with 2 luggage no accommodation there is no number
to call no one to speak no thanks for your services no more hotels com big disappointment
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It's location and the receptionist was very friendly
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice receiption man and Helpful. Thanks for everyone
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Die Lage war natürlich super. Einfach mittendrin und leicht zu erreichen
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Zu laut
- ramya463 (2/5): Worst hotel ever - This is the worst hotel in Istanbul very rude staff specially GÖKHAN. really dirty place and staff and unsecure even if you payed full payment online you might find your booking unconfirmed . Keep away from this hotel . Very old reception with bad smell.
- Ali (8/5): - Güzeldi tavsiye ederim memnun kaldı son derece Güzeldi
- Muhammad (6/5): Just okay - Location is great.
However, you dont get basic things like water or tea bags for free. Rooms are extremely small.
- kammie_mahurie (10/5): stay a week excellent experience - Very good room so comfort and clean. Breakfast was good and all staffs are so friendly. The best budget hotel i ever stayed. Good location and easy to access to shop lots in Taksim Square and another places because it is near to metro. I love it
- 700tu_ea (10/5): Great hotel great location - I stayed there for 3 nights and it was really clean, they did housekeeping every day. Personnel was so nice. Location was really really central. Only negative thing is, my room was the kind of small for 2 person. Except that I satisfied with the cleaning and well-maintained room and the bathroom.
- Andrew (8/5): OK budget hotel. - The hotel staff were very helpful and pleasant, and the breakfast was very good.it is very close to taksim square and public transport. Single bedroom was cramped, but a big bathroom and full sized shower. Overall a reasonable hotel for the money.
- pierrekassis (10/5): Great hotel - " In the heart of istikal street " .
" Very good breakfast " .
" 5 min walk to metro station & taksim square " .
The room was very clean " .
" good staff " .
" The location is perfect inside middle of Taksim, near shopping, restaurants, ect...
- 64zelihae (10/5): Great hotel - it is near to taksim square and few steps to istiklal street where you can enjoy shopping , eating and watching celebrations. The rooms are very clean and the breakfast was delicious . The staff especially Gökhan is very helpful und friendly.
- 751zelihae (10/5): Best location and friendly staff - In the heart of istikal street.. Great breakfast.. 5 mins to metro station. You can find bars shops and restaurants in the near of hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful.. We had a great time there.
- Verified traveler (2/5): horrible place and disrespectful stuff - the worst experience I ever had. never ever saw this much bad service and disrespectful staff. first of all, after we booked our rooms which were two deluxe balcony rooms we did ring them 3 times to confirm and they said definetly yes. we arrived there and they gave us one balcony bedroom which was really small and the other room was with no balcony. when we said we paid for two same rooms the guy said you r lucky to find rooms as u did not even have reservations. we told him we rang u 3 times and u confirmed the bokking throigh our card but he said just bcoz they did not get the payment it means its not confirmed. the second room was ry small ac was nkt working very small window. it was like a sauna, when we went down to complain about ac he said its not summer time to use ac and he can not do anything for this. first night was like a nightmare. in the morning bfast was another shock, the man who was responsiple from bfast touching bread cheese n other food with his hand, no health and safety at all. our friends also had another problem which was a lick at the toilet from the ceiling, when we were talking about all this things the same guy who was usualy at the reception popped in the dialog and he started to say u can not make these comments, i told him iam not having this conversation with u pls step back. he continued and he crossed his limits. proper asbo guy. so we had to leave hotel which we were supposed to stay 4 days more. i do not recommend this place at all.
- Despina (2/5): Avoid at all costs! - When we arrived at the hotel they told us it was full. I had booked 5 weeks earlier. Then they took us to a nearby hotel and tried to dump us in a room without a window claiming it was all full. Then we were told that they can just give us a refund. After much arguing they gave us a regular room. The room was fine but the bathroom was moldy and smelly.
- benattiayasmine (8/5): Lovely place - We enjoyed our stay, the hotel is clean, quite and simple, the manager and all the staff are very friendly. For a first visit the location is excellent, especially for young people.
Taksim is a very beautiful city where you can find everything you need: Shops, pubs, restaurants,...
- Khan Shahenur (8/5): - it is a bad website
- brian james (10/5): brilliant budget hotel - this was one of the friendliest hotels i have been in ,it was in the budget range right in the heart of taxim sq .100 yards to main drag 100s of restaurants to choose from ,it was an exciting location ,but be warned plenty clubs and pubs with music and live music we are now in our late 60s and this area helped us relive our youth ,the folk on duty got too know us and were helpful and friendly plenty too eat at breakfast ,rooms small but clean, take away the cost of breakfast and this stay was cheap, budget.it was also central for bus down to catch a boat trip and a healthy walk to the various famous mosques
- akarg2016 (4/5): Cok kotuydu , very bad experience - We stay there many times , they saying they are giving free brakfast but its not like that. There ia a man always stay near you and counting what u take in plate. He is always saying bad words about the customers while you are eating . He is like a guardian. We talk with the manager and he didnt do anything about it. We make appointment 3 4 months before and we check our appointment 3 times before we go there and they say room ready for u. When we go there they send us to another hotel because of they dont have a room for us. Its like a joke. They say u can cone for breakfast to our hotel but we face with another priblem there at 2nd day. Guardian comes and tell us "today u can eat but tomorrow do not come here to eat" . We get mad , how can they talk with a father near his son , like that ? Its a shame. They dont know how to manage horel. Every worker has another type of service there. Rooms are too small. Bath is for childrens only. U cant wash yourself if you are bit weighted because you cant turn inside bath. Even you cant use toilet well too. Lots of bad memories there and really disgusting services... otel kotu ,odalar cok kucuk, banyo zindan gibi icinde donemiyorsunuz , tuvalette otururken iki bacaginizda bi yerlere degiyor. Surekli tabaginiza aldiginiz seyleri sayip eger fazlaysa arkanizdan konusuyorlar. Hic tavsiye etmiyorum cok kotu....
- imArtist (6/5): Average / fine / just oke - being a solo traveler i really enjoy the places around, lively place, airport shuttle service is quite expensive so i went with havatas shuttle service. foor street walks and food lover will enjoy this location. my room was very small. but its fine. i went their for enjoyment not to stay in room all the time. if you feel price is good in budget then go for it. dont look for extreme high luxury standards.
- Carlito_Nana (2/5): Don't book this hotel - The worst hotel i stayed ever
i travelled to many countries and i stayed in many hotel , honestly this is the worst one
no house keeping in the rooms , you must fight everyday to get your room house keeping and also after fighting nothing will happen
non professional staff
very poor breakfast
very poor wifi
dirty bathroom
no shower gel or shampoo
no drinking water , you must buy water everyday
- Lee (6/5): Nice hotel but there was no balcony - There was no balcony in the room. The advert stated a front room with balcony but there was just a window and no safety measures to prevent falling. Guests could easily just fall down. Not safe at all! Beware of this when standing at the windows!
- BettyB1110 (8/5): I recommend - Mohamad was very nice and helpful.
Amazing location 2 min to metro station and 30 sec to the shops in istiklal street. Nice room very clean but very small not as the pictures and it says it has a balcony but it doesnt cz there is an ac outside and not place to stand. You can hear the voices from other rooms. They clean every day. The breakfast was nice. It is a little difficult to sleep cause of the pubs' down it stays till 4am, but all hotels in taksim has the same problem. I would definitely book this hotel again. I recommend.
- totb122 (10/5): Memet and Omar made it a perfect stay! - I scored a "10" taking into account the type of hotel this is ... a small well run family hotel offering clean comfortable rooms with excellent attentive staff. It is not a "corporate" flashy hotel, but my son I needed a comfortable base for our brief stay in Istanbul... somewhere to rest our weary heads.. this was perfect. Nothing was too difficult for Memet and Omar.. they sorted air port pick up, showed me best routes for dolmus to the mosques, sourced lentil soup for lunch and walked us to the pick up point for airport buses home. Well placed near Taksim Square.
- C8431PPgiuseppel (10/5): all good - I want to thank for the availability Omar. The room was always neat and clean and have been really good. the value and price is unbeatable considering the hotel is located in the city center. All very nice and very clean.
- S S (2/5): No good - I was booked this hotel through Hotels.com when we were arrived there hotel's staff behaviour was very surprise for us and staff were not in proper any uniform you cannot whom was this person. They were trying to get money in every possible manner. There was no proper lift and no lobby and due to the location nights were very nosy and rooms were not properly sound prof. I just want to say it was not good experience with this hotel
- Zhenhua (8/5): Nice Hotel, Nice People, Nice Location! - This hotel is located in the busiest Taksim Square area. If you take the shuttle from the airport, it is very easy to walk to this hotel. The single room is a little bit small, but it is just ok for a solo getaway person. The people here are very very nice. And you can easily find everything nearby, nice food, bars, clubs, small shops, etc. Also it is easy to catch the Metro system in Istanbul or walk to the sea to get a ferry trip. Very nice experience staying here! Highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Hostel the movie - If you book a single room and they send you to room 303 run away as fast as you can. The AC cuts off every 10 minutes then you have to restart with the remote. Timer on remote doesnt work. I complained and they act like they didnt know it was broke, sure. Room is the size of a size 5 shoe box. Fridge doesnt work. Bathroom door opens right into about the center point of the sink. Closet is impossible to use due to the tiny size of the room. Ordered a beer on the front patio of this joint, was served with a hot beer. Seriously stay somewhere else. Remember the movie Hostel? Thats the place.
- Verified traveler (4/5): cheap but noisy place to stay - Hi there
The person on a front desk, he did cheat at me.
He was nosy, he said because I live in Canada, I make a lot of money, I said no, I'm kind of new, and I have to job and still can't make an enough money. He was laughing at me. He charges my credit card for 750 Turkish lira with make a joke. He supposes it charges only for 24,75 euro, which is gonna be about 75 Turkish lira on that day. I got upset, and I told him its not funny, I'm going to tell hotels.com
my mother is waiting outside for me, and you just waiting my time, after that he said lots of sorry and returned the money to my credit card.
Please just be careful with these people
- max (10/5): Great! - The grand hotel was great. My family and i had a great stay and we would like to go there again. It was very comfortable and clean.
- Arash (4/5): Cheap hotel... - Well, the staff are good people but they aren't hospitality professionals. We asked them to do our laundry and we got somebody else's underwear in our "cleaned" laundry. The little boy who helps out, reminded me of the kid in "the water diviner" movie. It was incredibly noisy but we can't complain about that because we knew the hotel was on Istiklal st. I didn't really like the heavy metal night club's music all night however. Our bed sheets reeked of cigarette smoke, and were never changed during our 4 day stay. Our room was very dark and next to a outdoor fire exit type staircase; we never really felt safe. It was probably expensive for what you got but still quite cheap. The hotel called us a taxi, one of their friends, to pick us up to drive to the airport, the driver called the hotel back, thought I don't understand Turkish and said he will take us of a longer ride; I tracked the excess kilometres and clocked 15.5 kilometres on my gps; I didn't pay a cent over what he would really be entitled to; it is disappointing that the hotel would send such a person, befriend him and put up with this behaviour.
Oh I forgot, the room was so small, you couldn't leave your suitcase open. The cleaning staff left the windows open one day; next to a staircase, on Istiklal st... We were lucky nobody climbed up and didn't steal our passports and etc.
- Annejux (6/5): Great location, good stay - My three girlfriends and I stayed here for 3 nights the past week. The location is perfect, right off Istiklal street with a bunch of restaurants, bars, cafes, and shopping just steps away. A 20-30 min walk to the Galata bridge ans Sultanahmet. The room was clean, although very small. Beds were comfortable, pillows not so much (too firm and uncomfortable). Bathroom was fine except for the challenging showerhead (with ultra sharp water pressure) that ended up soaking the entire bathroom unless you held it in your hand.
Its very loud at night due to the bar right across the hotel (until around 3-4am). My friends and I did not mind since we stayed out till late most nights but if youre looking for restful sleep this might not be the spot.
It says 24hr reception but no one is at the desk half the time. So anyone from the street can basically walk in, a guy almost followed my friends and I into the hotel when no one was at the desk.
Honestly, its a cheap and good place to stay if you want to be where the action is.
- Aaron (2/5): Stay away! - Stay away! I booked through Hotels.com and upon arriving, was told by a "manager" that all the rooms were booked. He checked the price on my printout then proceeded to walk me around the dodge neighborhood looking for hotels and speaking to the receptionists. All he was doing was trying to get a tip from me at the end, which after an hour of BS, he wasn't getting. Could not be more disappointed by the experience. There was a chance that he wasn't even working for the hotel and was simply hustling me. I ended up at an awful hotel with brown running water and couldn't use the shower. I've had to file a case with Hotels.com, which so far isn't going anywhere...
- Fatlad (10/5): Great Spot from which to see the whole of Istanbul - Lovely People, Great Location, Good Value for Money in a small centrally located spot that is convenient for "Istanbul Card" transport systems and the Airport Bus service that hubs near Taxim Square.
- Julia (10/5): Well situated and comfortable hotel at good price - A very good nice and simple hotel. This is not some fancy 5 star hotel, but if you want a clean, comfortable and very well situated hotel with friendly staff this is the place for you.
.
On arriving my check in was quick and efficient and the staff very friendly, I was shown to my room by another member of staff. Room clean and ensuite with comfortable bed, TV, aircon, phone etc. Powerful shower and towels, wash, soap etc provided. Also had a hairdryer which was a nice extra. Wifi was also free.
Located a couple of minutes meander from Taksim square on a pleasant road which always felt safe. As a lone female traveler I felt happy walking around at night and since the hotel is just off of a busy street there were always people about.
Breakfast was traditional Turkish cold buffet, tasty and plenty of choice: bread, meat, cheese, fruit, eggs, salad, honey, cake, pastry, juice, tea, coffee etc.
The hotel was in good condition and my towels etc were refreshed every day.
Overall a very pleasant stay and I would happily recommend and return again.
- leila (2/5): only close to taksim square - very bad and awful stay there. there's a lot of noise outside because of a disco in front of hotel.remember that this not a hotel and not worth at this price 110 euro per night.the breakfast was very poor.
