Guest Reviews
- Jaana (10/5): Paljon kulttuuria, upeita ihmisiä - menen uudelleen. Julkinen liikenne toimi hyvin. Ratikkaan mennessä pystyi lipun ostamaan pankkikortilla, jossa lähimaksu - ei tarvinnut ostaa IstanbulKart korttia. Ratikkamaksut myös edullisia. Basaarien hinnat kalliita, sama tuote kaupassa edullisempi ja Aasian puolella tuotteet vieläkin edullisempia. Monesta paikasta puuttui englannin kielinen teksti/ohje, mutta paikalliset auttoivat.
- Vitalii (9/5): Good stay for one night, thanks - Great location
Close to the historic center but quiet.
- Mohammed (10/5): Relaxing experience and great location so made my holiday easy. - Big room size and great for family, as well as clean rooms and friendly staff. Everything was positive
- kikey (9/5): It was really lovely. - The location was good, there was a bit of walking but everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. Everything was amazing, I wish there were more breakfast option. It was the same daily, I wish there was a little bit more of fruit variety. It was great for me, but my girls really struggled finding something they enjoyed.
- Nantie (8/5): The property had everything we needed for a pleasant one night stay. The staff was extremely generous, helpful and kind - Friendly and helpful staff
- Lucia (10/5): -
- Javed (10/5): - Nill
- Guldbrandsen (9/5): Good, friendly hotel with perfect location and nice staff. - Perfect location, close to the main historical attractions in Istanbul.
Railway station for suburban trains to Sirkeci is 100 meters away.
The staff is very friendly and service minded.
The rooms are clean and have the standard which can be expected for a hotel at this price level.
My room had 4 beds so it is suitable for a family with 2 kids.
Comfortable beds, you sleep well and the place is silent in nighttime.
Breakfast is simple but good. It was somewhat complicated to turn on and off the lamps by the bed. The switch was hidden behind a big closet.
The hotel have a roof terrace, from where you can have a splendid view of the Bosphorus. But unfortunately it was
not in a good order and not very welcoming - why?
- Tania (10/5): Perfect,to travel alone or with friends , clean and frienly - The staff is lovely and very helpful, the location is great for the tourist area, also recommend the Taksim area for nigth life. The tourist area too manybreatourants competing for attention..the hotel is simple and old but has it old. The staff compensated for the lack of. Modern arquitecture
- Denis (9/5): -
- Lady N (10/5): Ideal location - The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood of Cankurtaran, ±10 minutes slightly uphill walking to Sultanahmet Square. It gave us a local feeling staying in the area and has an adequate number of restaurants around it. We felt safe even when walking at night time, with our kids. The hotel had an elevator that fits four people, which is a plus point. The nearest train is T3 Cankurtaran Station and that's only ±2 minutes walking.
Airport pickup was helpful. The staff who welcomed us was very friendly and helpful. Other staff were friendly as well.
A simple Turkish buffet breakfast was served daily. They also cleaned the room daily. The room's amenities were complete and clean. Our room had a double bed and two single beds, perfect for our family of four. The terrace and sea view from our room was wonderful.
We loved that this hotel preserved its original character, charm and authenticity over other modern hotels that looked exactly the same elsewhere. It made our stay more memorable and unique. Top floor terrace needs an upkeep.
- nazarenko (2/5): -
- Shannon (10/5): - Very kind and helpful owner who remembered every guests name. The location was central and the rooms had character. It was nice that the breakfast options were slightly different every day.
- Kathleen (5/5): Budget hotel with basic amenities, but great location - Staff, elevator and location were the highlights. Also, as a woman traveling solo, I felt very safe. The breakfast was good, also, and the room was quiet with a comfortable bed. Unremediated mold exposure in the shower, and cleanliness was so-so. The room was cleaned well on a daily basis, but there were stains on one of the walls that were old and gross. The furniture was rather shabby, and a badly frayed cord on the hair dryer attached to the bathroom wall looked to be a catastrophe waiting to happen; hotel staff was advised of it upon my departure. Overall, I would have liked it more if the owner had put some effort into a deep-cleaning of the room and some updates to the furniture and the rest of the interior.
- Alexei (10/5): - Initially booked for 2 nights. Nice little hotel, friendly staff, clean rooms. Our flight got cancelled and the hotel was able to extended our stay 1 more night. Prepaid taxi service to IST was really nice: right on time, and the rate was actually lower compare to what Bitaksi app showed. A couple small restaurants right next door.
- Darrel (8/5): - The hotel is located in the heart of the old city with less than a 5 minute walk up a small hill to the Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace. It is located next to a Korean Restaurant and on the other side the building has been torn down so that makes the front look a bit unsightly. The manager (his name is Sahin) was wonderful and extremely helpful. The included breakfast was good with some seasonal offerings. The hotel has an elevator that works great (although it is small). The room was clean. They had a single small blanket to cover with but that was more than adequate and the AC worked fine. It is not a five star hotel and maybe not even a 4 but I rated it high because of Sahin and the location and the price. I would not hesitate to stay here again. For those looking for an affordable but nice option close to the old city. It is also a very short walk to the water and there is a tram stop just across the street. the only complaint might be the bathroom as the shower water drained very slowly and there is a lip to step up and over to get to the bathroom and it was easy to trip over especially at night. The room had a safe and a refrigerator. There was also a TV in the room which we couldn't figure out how to make it work (I think the remote batteries were dead) but we weren't interested in watching TV with so much history around us. I see in the photo there is a balcony you can look out on the water but we never accessed that or were told whether we could.
- Nataliya (10/5): - Very nice, cozy, clean, small hotel. Perfect location and friendly staff.
- Christian (8/5): -
- Elif (10/5): Generelt bra - Plasseringen, rett foran metro og 10 min gå bei unna sultanahmet. Hyggelig personal og ren rom. Frokosten var veldig minimal
- Tar (6/5): Ár - érték aránya megfelelő - Elhelyezkedése tökéletes
Látnivalók többsége gyalogosan közel van Zajos helyen van a vasút közelsége miadt
A reggeli siralmas , kiporciózott , felvágott mentes
Közvetlen mellett elbontott épület maradványainak látképe nem igazán emel a hotel értékén
- Shana (9/5): good place and staff. - Calm and peaceful. nothing

Clean modern bathroom.

Other fruit can be added
- MAHMOUD FATHY AHMED ABDELAATY (7/5): - Mohanad is so nice, polite person and so helpful
- Giacomo (8/5): -
- Cengiz (10/5): Perfekt für die Stadterkundung. - Alles war super! Alles bestens!
- JAMSHED (10/5): Excellent experince - Location I will say it’s hard to say but they can have more rooms to facilitate more people

- Irfan (10/5): Shaheen and staff were brilliant! Really great people and wholesome breakfast in the morning!! Overall highly recommend - Fantastic location - literally across the road from the Cankurtaran Tram station and walking distance from the Grand Hagia Sophia etc .. Beds could do with a bit of a refurb :)
- Vinolia (10/5): -
- ADNAN (10/5): -
- Sana (10/5): Great & recommending - The sttuf was very kind and helped us with the organization from day one.
The main builduings Are near ( Hagia Sophia, Topkapi palate, Bosphorus )
- Abdul (9/5): Absolutily Loving - Absolutily amazing staff and location, its next to Metro station behind famous landmarks of Hagia Sofia and Blue Mosque surrounded by restaurent and shops. The staff especially Shaheen is amazing, they ll great and assist you like family. I highly recommend thier hotel for your next stay. Though its not something i did'nt like but it can be improved, the breakfast menu is a bit fixed and contains limited items. i guess it can be improved.
- Kazi (10/5): - Really nice hotel, great service and very nice breakfast, alhamdulillah. The people were vey helpful and speak English too. We really enjoyed staying here. I highly recommend this hotel.
- Philip (8/5): - The Ipekyolu Hotel was a budget choice and as such, it fit the bill. Nothing fancy, but comfortable and very conveniently located. The staff couldn’t have been nicer! We loved our time in Istanbul and would love to return.
- Hubert (10/5): Exceptional - Very helpfull personel. Helped us with a car, recomended good restaurant nearby. We felt very comfortable. Got better than expected!
- Talgat (10/5): Wonderful hotel staff — they did their best to help with everything and responded very quickly to all our requests and n - Great location of the hotel — many major attractions are within walking distance. A beautiful view from the room’s balcony. The hotel is also located right next to the U3 tram line station and just a bit further from the T1 line.
- Emir (10/5): - The staff is great. Very accommodating and helpful and they were able to help out with some scheduling issues which was greatly appreciated. The hotel is in a great location. Breakfast is basic but good.
- Moumiza (8/5): Good, can be better - The locations was really good. The Topkapi , Blue Mosque was just 10 mins walk, the tram station was exactly opposite of the hotel. And the view from the Sea of Marmara from our room was amazing
The breakfast was amazing too. They didn’t give us the right room at first and we forgot to double check. Then the staff came and ask that the room we booked (Sea view) was only for 3 people. But when I booked through Booking app it was for four people, so they wanted to charge extra money. I refused to pay because I booked for 4 people. I don’t know who was at fault the hotel management or booking.com, the staff was nice and moved us to the sea view room .
Another bad thing was, even after asking for Housekeeping no one came until the third day of our stay, we had used towel and the bathroom was also dirty. No one wanted to take any responsibility for it either, one staff even put down notes that no one came to clean the room , but still they came after two days. I feel like they need be more careful about this kind of stuff. Overall it was a good stay.
- Ashiq (10/5): Staff and location is excellent - It’s excellent location Light is very low
- Anwer (9/5): Excellent place to stay near all the major attractions of sultan ahmet district in Istanbul - Everything was great...staff was very helpful, breakfast was good and plenty, room was spacious, location was excellent and rooms were reasonably priced.
- Qing820519 (8/5): Decent good value for Suktanahmed sightseeing - 5 minute walk to Aya Sofia, Topkapi, Basilica Cistern Windows blinds too shabby to block sunlight. Have to wake up with the sun.
- Oscar (10/5): Great Stay in Istanbul, collaborative staff - Good location, friendly staff. We were upgraded to room with Bosporus view. They help us with early check in. Everything was super, as a recommendation They can expand the breakfast options. Eg fruits and other non Turkish options.
- Pilar (10/5): 100 % recommendable - Great place for staying in Istanbul. Great people and accomodation. I highly recommend it.
- Mustafa (10/5): Mustafa k - Ailemle güvenli ve temiz 2 gün geçirdim. Personel güleryüzlü ve cana yakındı.
- dewirayau (4/5): Pro: location and big balcony. Cons: dirty. Very dirty. - Pro: location
Cons: very dirty room
Stayed with family. Room was spacious with big balcony. But that’s about it. Room is rundown. Dirty. It felt like they never ever mopped the floor. Ever. And the rugs in the room is so dirty. It should be in the bin. Not in the room.
Breakfast was ok. The lady at the breakfast buffet was nice and friendly.
Stay away from the guy at the reception. He shouldn’t be working in hospitality business. If the hotel belongs to his father, another sibling should take over to give the hotel a chance.
- Travel757810 (10/5): Great experience - Booked the hotel for a vacation for my family. Spent 7 days and it was a great pick. The hotel is close to all worthy tourist atractions, the staff and service is excellent. Also the balcony rooms we booked offer a beautiful view.
As i said the staff is excellent, very polite and helpful. Thank you ipekyolu, until next time.
- robbies65 (10/5): Super city break hotel. - Excellent location near all the major tourist sights. We had a room with a balcony and sea view which was worthwhile in my opinion. Room was large and reasonably comfortable. Decor was fine but perhaps could do with an update. Bathroom good and the room had a small fridge. Small hotel, friendly staff. Breakfast was very basic. Good value and once again great location.
- UmmAmira08 (2/5): Never been to such a dirty hotel before!!!! - The staff where very sweet and welcomed us and where very sweet. But the hotel rooms need big renovation sorry but it was so disgusting. The floor hasn't been washed for ages with soap and nothing other in there has seen soap for a very long time. The beds was so so bad. Two of my kids got bid of bedbugs and when we arrived home to our homecountry we had to spend a lot of money on getting it fixed. Will never ever go back it ruined my holiday!!!
- DanielG810 (10/5): Hard to find anything to criticize - The staff at the reception desk is totally professional and ready to help, without all the fuss that can only distract from your purpose: congratulations, I wish many more hotels worldwide had pros like you. The room was exactly what we needed - quiet, with lots of light, large enough for 2 adults and 1 child - and more than we even expected. Breakfast was sufficient and fresh. And the location is next to everything you want to see. Great experience!
- luthfur (4/5): Disappointing Experience.. - Our experience with Ipekyulo hotel is somewhat disappointing. First of all, when we arrived at the middle of the night, they asked for the whole payment in full. I have stayed in many hotels but never encountered this before. Although we were given a room with a sea view but the condition of the room wasn’t very nice. All of the beds were exceptionally hard and uncomfortable which resulted in waking up with terrible pain next day. This continued throughout our stay. What we observed during our stay that the bin wasn’t cleaned until we reported it to the reception. Toiletries weren’t re-filled nor were the soap provided. Towels /pillow cases weren’t replaced. To be honest, the standard was very low. As for the breakfast, there weren’t that many items and the same thing were repeated every day. It would benefit from additional items to give customers the options to choose from. Hotel workers were ok and helpful when asked but they can’t do much as their hands are tight due to their boss. Location of the hotel was reasonable as it only takes 5 to 10 mins walk to Blue Mosque and the surroundings. There aren’t that many local shops around the hotel. I had the opportunity to visit another hotel as my friend was staying there and I can tell you the service they were getting in comparison to mine was second to none. Other hotel was offering Turkish Tea, fresh cakes and the staffing was exceptionally good. Overall the hotel Ipekyulo didn’t meet our expectations. I suggest you pay little extra to book yourself into a decent hotel then this one.
- 499petrg (10/5): 3 days stay - Very nice hotel in perfect place - 5 minut to Blue mosque and Hagia Sofia. Very kind stuff, breakfest is very good, room is clean. If you looking for very good hotel for tourist stay in Istanbul, this hotel is perfect choice. Thanks
- RAM_FAD (10/5): Old turkish style - Very nice place, with car parkind, clean and special, old style, and some old instruments and things shown in the hotel, the outside yard is also nice ,you cant rest eat or drink someyhing outside, the price also accepted
- events601 (10/5): The Gem of the old City - Wow what a way to start your holiday. We arrived and was welcomed as if we were long lost friends. Nothing was to much asked for and they were super eager to help with any and all you needs. Super friendly, clean and helpful. We will most definitely recommend this to all that travel to Istanbul, and we will most definitely be back. Thank you all for a wonderful stay!!
- appleapple13 (10/5): Small Nice Pansion - The hotel has 11 rooms with elevator. Sone room has the balconies on the ocean view (Marmara Sea, Princess Islands and Asian). The staff and the breakfast are okay. They provide special pickup service from the airports also shuttle.
- Kungly (8/5): Comfortable - The hotel is not at the busy part of the city, but only 8 min walk to the major attractions. Besides, there are good and reasonable price restaurants nearby. It is convenien centre. The room is spacious and clean. The price is reasonable. However, the WiFi is not very strong.
- mahmoudnimer (2/5): Thieves - Upon the rating I saw here , I booked 3 nights in this hotel.
Unfortunately, I came and saw a lot of troubles inside the hotel.
The room was spacious, somehow clean. This was the only thing good in the hotel.
The AC needed 4 hours to work and not properly.
The bathroom was not clean and the toilet was broken, the manager called for a plumber to fix the toilet after I showed him the problem and he didn't change the room for me!!
The kitchenette was dirty, even the cups couldn't be separated from the tray !
No mineral water, and when I asked for water, they brought me tap water or something.
They are not maintaining the rooms in advance.
The most important thing is they are THIEVES!
I negotiated with the manager for the miserable room and we agreed to pay for just one night and check out. I paid in cash and left, and I found after several days that they took 3 nights from my credit card without informing me !!
I spoke with the manager and he told me he would refund only one night !!
Believe it or not, they didn't refund anything till now.
I booked 3 nights ,paid 4 nights and stayed one night.
I wonder how is it rated like this in here.
- Shamma78 (10/5): Highly recommend!! :) - If I were to write all the things we liked in details it would be very long review. I'll try to be as quick as possible:
1) very friendly staff that will always try to help with any of your needs
2) great location, only couple of minutes walk from Sultanahmet, yet in very quiet neighbourhood
3) room spacious, very clean
4) bathroom good size and very clean, towels changed daily
5) everything in good working order including very good WiFi reception in the room
- MenziesStreet (8/5): A fine hotel with great staff in a wonderful location - We spent five nights here and were totally pleased with our experience. The hotel staff were warm, inviting, friendly and helpful. The room was fine, although the bed was a bit stiff. When I couldn't figure out how to make the TV work using the remote controller, one of the staff came up and showed me the newest invention: an off and on switch on the TV! Breakfasts were fine, and the little park across the small street in front of the hotel gave a feeling of space as we ate breakfast before the days explorations. The short stroll up the hill to the Haiga Sophia and Blue Mosque was a great way to get the blood flowing in one's veins!
And be sure to stop in to the small shop just up the hill and across from the Topkapi walls that has a large loom in the window. The folks here are from generations of silk weavers, and their products are of very fine quality, not produced for the mass tourist crowd, and well worth investigating and possibly purchasing. Also next door are two places to eat and a barbershop that seems to be open from 9 am to 11 pm.
- Casswa78 (6/5): Good location - The hotel was in a great location, just a short stroll from great restaurants and the Blue Mosque. The room was clean, the bathroom newly renovated.
The bed was extremely hard and the wi-fi not great.
Also don't book the airport transfer, we waited 40mins then had to order a taxi to make it on time for our flight.
- ramsay_bocuse (6/5): High-end priced for the quality in spite of location - 7-15 min. steep cobblestone climb to Hagia Sofia. Elevator. Room good size, with small window to untidy backyard, free WiFI in room worked well. Worn cheap furniture, no ergonomic laptop working space in room, bathroom looks good at first, drain of shower and wash-hand basin do not pull, many corners uncleaned, ventilation over shower dirty. Mould smell in corridor. Breakfast not fresh, tasteless, cheap, plain and monotonous, suggest good quality sausage cuts and keep them cold and to add at least freshly pressed orange juice and yoghourt as improvement. Reasonable priced restaurants within walking proximity. The express laundry next door uses a washing powder with a penetrating smell, be warned..Access by public transport with luggage difficult due to need of twice changing from Taxim sq. or changing once and climb down the cobblestone paved hill or cope with the cabs and tour buses traffic jam in front of hotel.
- Mikihonu (10/5): Clean, simple, friendly staff, great location and super reasonable! - It's also called Hotel Ipekyolu. Stayed here for 6 nights. Room came with breakfast and free wifi everywhere within the hotel grounds. Located within 5 minutes walk from Sultanahmet with many restaurants to choose from nearby including its own. The staff was very helpful and nice without being in your face. My room had no windows directly facing outside but it worked out for me because I like to sleep with no lights and sunlight usually wakes me up too early. The only thing was that I wish the bed was harder. Can't handle soft beds... But that's my only complaint.
The breakfast was more than adequate. Drank chai every morning and enjoyed the string cheese and the dried fruits in particular. If you like to be pampered this may not be the right choice, but if you like the no muss no fuss experience this is the place for you. Their dinner is yummy too. I really enjoyed their veggie casserole.
And another bonus! There is "express laundry" literally two minutes walk away and the place does your wash and fold for you for 5 lira per 1 kg (2.2 pounds). It's open from 9 to 9 daily so you can drop off your laundry in the morning and pick it up at the end of the day on your return! Kinda nice being able to head to the next leg of the trip with clean clothes!
There are tons of hotels to choose from within the same area, but you can't go wrong in picking this one!
- kuwait08 (10/5): Clean, Comfortable, Lovely View! - The Ipekyolu is a quiet, comfortable, affordable little hotel within walking distance of Topkapi Palace, the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. Just across the street from the train to everywhere. Simple furnishings, spacious rooms. Lovely view of the Bosphorus from the terraces. Shopping and many restaurants all around. Be sure to get a waterview room!
- abSRD (10/5): Brilliant! - Light, bright, newly refurbished, spotlessly clean room; friendly, welcoming and helpful staff; good breakfast; short walk from Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace & Blue Mosque; local cafes adjacent; nicely away from the main hotel & restaurant drag. Brilliant!
