Казалось, как будто на машине времени прокатилась:) Отель действительно легендарный, все сохранено по максимуму из той эпохи, но нужно отметить современный матрас, очень комфортный. НО добавлю ложку дегтя, очень печальные завтраки:( Вроде бы и выбор есть, но все такое не вкусное, а уж кофе это надо было постараться такой сорт выбрать, просто грусть ( завтрак был тоже по-советски), больше не ходила на завтрак, а очень жаль, так как атмосфера очень классная. Рекомендация бронировать без завтраков, на месте можно докупить. Рядом с отелем остановка, удобно 10-15 мин и ты в центре, быстрее, чем на такси.
- Oleg (8/5): Советский - Отель оправдывает свое название Легендарный и Советский. Красивый хол, ресторан как театр. Большие номера с высокими потолками, удобные кровати. Завтрак без излишеств, но все есть, свою цену очень даже оправдывает. Мебель конечно уже старая, но из массива дерева. Номер брали во двор - тихо, на Ленинградский думаю будет слышимость дороги.

- TOMOKO (8/5): 素敵なホテル - メガスポルトで開催されたロステレコム杯観戦のために1週間滞在しました。メガスポルトまでは徒歩35分くらいです。ホテル自体はとても豪華な内装、部屋も広々としていて、バスタブ付きのバスルームも広かったです。古いですが清掃はしっかりされていて清潔感があり、気持ちよく滞在できました。 朝食は1日だけ現地で追加しましたが、おいしかったです（値段は500ルーブルでフロントでチケットが買えます）。 ちなみに部屋にはポットがないので、お湯を沸かせないので注意してください。その他のアメニティ（歯ブラシセット、シャンプー、スリッパ等）やドライヤー、セーフティボックスは設置されており不便はありませんでした。 ルームサービスで、ボルシチスープ、チキンカツなど食べましたが、どれも美味しかったです。 残念なのは地下鉄駅からのアクセスがあまりよくないことでしょうか。ベラルースカヤからはかなり距離があります。ディナモの方が近い（徒歩10分くらい）のですが、地下道を２つ通らないといけないので、夜遅い時間にここを通るのは私は躊躇しました。

De kamers zijn gedateerd, maar dat is bij zo een hotel te verwachten, maar is toch van alle gemakken voorzien en was bijzonder schoon. Ontbijt was zeer goed. Minpunten waren dat het hotel op ongeveer 15 minuten lopen was van het dichtstbijzijnde metrostation en dat het bar-personeel geen Engels sprak. Vloeiend Engels hoeft niet, maar zelfs simpele bestellingen gingen moeizaam.

- Anna (10/5): Легендарный Советский - очень хотелось показать внуку, проживающему в Европе не просто хороший московский отель, а отель с изюминкой, роскошный со своим лицом и историей. Провели всего один день и остались очень довольны. Роскошный, добротный, чистый, ковровый, отражает эпоху 50х - 60х годов. Номер просторный со всеми принадлежностями, удивила даже цепочка на дверях. Поразил завтрак. Поразил не только великолепием помещения и вкуснейшим разнообразием блюд, но живая музыка - арфа, прекрасно. Иностранцы испытывали откровенный восторг и очень не хотели уходить.

Decor and carpets are quite dated, but the old Soviet history more than makes up for it. Great value, would stay again. YAR restaurant on site is very good Russian food, very good service. Breakfast buffet was also good with harp and piano to go with the meals. Highly recommend.

Really lovely hotel, ok location, nice staff, comfortable bed and room, great breakfast and the yar restaurant is fabulous! The only thing that was negative was not being able to sit in the restaurant to eat dinner without paying money to see a show which isn't our thing. Thankfully we had a gorgeous meal in the bar and the waiting staff were amazing. Thank you

- Janis (8/5): Sovietsky Hotel - The hotel is renewed, the rooms ar spacious, the beds are confortable, the breakfest is good, but I would rather classify it as a 3 star. I would stay again. There's public transport very close for the city center (20 minutes by bus to the Kremlin).

- Robert (8/5): Go back in time at the Sovietsky. - We liked the Soveitsky. My wife and our adult son stayed four nights during World cup. It was like we had stepped back in time to the the 1960s what with the large corridors and very large rooms. Unfortunately the service also reminded of of Soviet times, the last time my wife and I were in Moscow (1968). Service personnel, from desk clerk to waiters seemed grumpy, or maybe just unhappy. Also the hotel had no concierge and desk was very unhelpful on directions or on what to do in Moscow. Example, to a question of how far the football stadium was from hotel, the clerk responded that she did not know as she had no interest in football (strange response during the world cup). That said, We all thought the hotel was fine and were not disappointed. Moreover the breakfast was excellent and every morning as we ate either a harpist or pianist played. That was classy.

Evoked the Russia of the 30's to 60's which was what I was looking for. Location is OK, about a 10 minute fast walk to the metro.
- Victor (4/5): Horrible Customer Service - Dimitry at the front desk was not welcoming and had a poor attitude during our check in process. We made a reservation for a room for 3 people which we paid for but he insisted that I had to pay for an extra person. It wasn’t until I showed him the confirmation that he went to talk to somebody in the back to confirm. He came back and without saying to much, he threw the keys on the counter and directed me to the room. He didn’t offer to give us any information about the city or how to get to the metro station. One of us ended up sleeping on the floor as the room that we booked for 3 people only had 1 bed. I figured one of us could have slept on the couch that was advertised but our room didn’t have one. The hotel is cool looking but the service needs a lot of improvement. Thanks!

- Irakly (8/5): Truly historic place - This hotel is a true relic of the Soviet Era. Stalin had his own understanding of what luxury was, and this hotel represents his vision to the best. Marble walls and staircases, authentic rugs, elaborate chandeliers, white grand pianos, 20-foot ceilings, huge hand-painted portraits of Stalin, Zhukov, Khrushchev and Brezhnev in gilded frames... The interior of the hotel is meticulously preserved, but there are signs of aging here and there. The staff is doing its best to keep the 1950-s spirit of the place intact: innumerable maids in vintage uniforms clean the place constantly; a harp, or a piano player is there every morning to brighten up a rather basic free breakfast menu. A much better selection of traditional food is available, however, for an extra charge. Admittedly, musicians are not top-class, but who would expect better at 10am in a hotel? Rooms, even the basic ones, are spacious and comfortable. If you want to impress, for an extra of $100 per night you can have an apartment that looks like it was set up for Churchill's visit. The only annoyance that I had was a set of artificial fibre pillows, which was the only option. This place is truly over-the-top in so many ways... It shares the building with one of the most famous restaurants in Moscow named "Yar". If this is not enough, there is also the only in Russia a real Gypsy theatre "Romen" performing every night. Obviously, this is Kitsch, but Kitsch of the most impeccable degree of refinement.

- Hans (8/5): An experience - Don't care about the rating. This place is beyond that. It is like living in a museum. Just something I will never forget. A truly unique stay! Oh, and the Wi-Fi is really good!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great historic hotel - The hotel is spotless. The room was much larger than those in downtown Moscow. It is a few metro stops from red square. Negatives, the bathrooms are clean but old and in need of updated. The pillows are hard as rocks.
- William (10/5): Very old, very elegant - Stayed one night here and loved it. The hotel is extremely old, but extremely fancy. The type of place foreign dignitaries might have stayed when visiting Stalin 60 years ago. It has been kept in quite good shape considering it’s still all original construction and decor. Worth visiting just to look around, the restaurant it was built around was opened in 1826 and was frequented by basically every famous Russian ever (Pushin, Chekhov, Rasputin, etc). Walls are a bit thin, but other than that it’s lovely!

- Jo (8/5): Lovely high quality hotel, far from centre - It is a lovely hotel, the room was very plush, the staff were friendly. Breakfast was great and would be accompanied by someone playing harp or piano. The only downside was the location. I think it's perfect if you are on a tour, have a car or take taxis. But was a 15 min walk to the metro which involves 2 underpasses and was then a 20min metro ride to Red Square. Although the hotel was beautiful and historic if you are staying for a city break and using public transport you may be better choosing location more central.
- anonimous (10/5): Great Hotel! - This is great hotel built in 50s in Soviet Stalinist style. One of Stalin's sons (Vasiliy) lived here for some time. Other visitors of the hotel were from Vladimir Vysotsky to Margaret Thatcher, and many other celebrities and political leaders. Movies depicting the period of 40s and 50s are sometimes shot in this hotel.
- Teresa (10/5): Nice and interesting visit - My experience in Moscow was a nice one, the hotel is very nice and so is the sorroundind ares and a Metro station is about 15 minutes walk from the hotel, also around the corner there are tram and buses, I found the people friendly and helpful.
- Suyog (8/5): Decent stay with few concerns. - It was a pleasant stay, Few things, I stayed there for 3 days and all 3 days there was similar breakfast not even single changed in the dish, Also payments terms are little forceful, we have to pay for room service as soon as we consumed it. I have taken a superior room which doesn't have a refrigerator, Tv has only 4 channels.
- Nimrod (10/5): Style,music and comfort - The bathtub was a joy for my spouse after 4 nights on the train from Irkutsk. The hotel lives up to its desire to be a Soviet period luxury hotel for better and for worse. The breakfast is fine and the live music with it super. The shower reasonable the rooms large (our standard had 2 tables and 3 chairs in addition to bedside tables. There are electric sockets every where in the room. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. And of course there is the restaurant YAR! once a week they have shows there also. It is a special place at very reasonable rate so if you wnt something different and special we highly recommend.
- Robin (8/5): Delightfully historic - The perfect choice to get the feel of times gone by. Creaky, old and marvellous, you'll know you're in Moscow. Be aware, you pay for the ambiance -on the face of it, it's a no-frills hotel and you can get more for less elsewhere.
- Mark (8/5): Spacious rooms but dated interiors. - The Hotel is conveniently located and the rooms are spacious. Carpeting and wood trip could use replacement and refinishing. TV is analogue and over the air. Breakfast buffet is as Soviet as the hotel. Free WiFi is slow (2mb).
- pablo (10/5): Nice hotel close to the city center - Hotel sovietsky it's a great choice to stay in Moscow close to the city center with nice and big rooms, clean, well maintained and very nice decoration from the 18th /19th century. Beautiful corridors and very hight ceilings. Even if the staff at the hotel don't speak English they try to be nice and helpful. The subway it's about ten minutes walk from the hotel which it's very convenient for the heavy traffic in Moscow but at the reception they always can get you a taxi. Breakfast it's very nice as well with a nice variety of food everyday. Definitely for my next trip to Moscow I will stay at this nice hotel.

- Mark (6/5): Classic old hotel - Classic hotel, good for the experience with the classic old furniture, tall ceilings and lovely old staircase and decor. Some places are a little worn though, and the breakfast is definitely nothing special. It's about a 10 minute walk to the nearest Metro and I'd you've got bags with you it's a real trek because of the road underpasses you need to take. Wifi was free but average.

Location was a bit far from city center but only 10 min walk to dinamo station and just 4 stops to kremlin. Great breakfast and great hotel, i would definitely stay hete again.

- J&H (10/5): Soviet style with a smile :-) - With fairly low expectations of Moscow and Russia in general, we were blown away by the people, buildings, food, beer and tourist attractions. The hotel was true Soviet splendour with marble throughout and more gold leaf than you can imagine. Despite it's opulence, the staff were charming and so we hope to return in the depths of winter to experience it all again.

Breakfast is not as good as the other hotels that we stayed in. Ingredients are there but presentation could improve. Definitely the fan was helpful in the room for air circulation.
- Visitor (8/5): Fantastic breakfast in extraordinary building - the breakfast buffet was some of the best food we ate in Moscow, and considering Moscow prices, is a wonderful amenity, with live harp and piano. Located between metro stops: 10 min walk to Dinamo and 20 min to Belaruskaya, where the airport train comes in. The building is amazing, but the rooms themselves have not been updated since 1960, for good and ill. The beds are comfortable. While there was no traffic noise from the adjacent highways, we could hear our neighbor's party. That's what earplugs are for!

Large comfortable rooms, Breakfast was very good and relaxing harp music played whilst you ate. Generally a very good experience and I would recommend this hotel highly.

- Paul (10/5): Not just a hotel stay BUT an experience to cherish - The Historic Hotel Sovietsky was fabulous, exactly what we wanted – an imposing Stalinist structure steeped in history of the USSR. It would have been so easy to have booked into a modern hotel with all the services one has come to expect – but do have done so would have meant we missed a priceless opportunity to step back in time. The ambience of the Hotel is quite breathtaking, the white marble sweeping staircases, the green marble pillars, the wooden panelling along the long corridors and the red carpeting throughout, the large portraits of past leaders, the chandeliers and original lighting. The twin room was clean and comfortable, a very high ceiling, lots of character from the intricate window and door locks, to the very functional bathroom - Who needs air conditioning when one can open the large wooden windows. The lounge and restaurant where excellent, valuble free wi-fi (not in the rooms though) and friendly staff. The ‘all you can eat’ buffet breakfast was to die for – omelettes cooked to order, fruit & salad, porridge, meat and cheese, sausage – coffee, tea, orange and apple juice….. and as much black Russian bread and butter as one could eat. Not just a hotel stay BUT an experience to remember

- Liz (6/5): Good option for tourists and kitsch lovers - I stayed here twice between visits to another city, first for one night and then an additional two. For Moscow, it is a reasonably priced option for a roomy, if not luxurious space. The 15 minute walk from Belorusski train/metro station isn't bad unless you're toting luggage. If you never experienced the aesthetics of hotels during Soviet times, the nostalgia trip is great - though bear in mind, this hotel would have accommodated highly placed party officials and celebrities, not your average proletariat traveller. A shame there is no gym. The repertoire of the nightly piano player is limited; I think I heard "Feelings" 3x in an hour, unless that is an intentional inside joke. The hotel offers taxi service (efficient) prices are neither competitive nor a total rip off. I was, however, momentarily dragged into an awkward tug of war between the hotel and dispatcher, well handled in the end by the front desk. Glad I stayed here.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Great Soviet hotel in deperate need of a renovatio - The overal impression of the hotel is very ambiguous. On the one hand it is a beautiful old style Soviet hotel with stunning spaces (especially the "Yar" restaurant). The room I stayed in was hughe (35m2), rate was OK. The hotel is, however, very run down and in desperate need of a renovation. Should the hotel be renovated it would be at least as nice as the Baltchug Kempinsky (where I have also stayed).

- Verified traveler (8/5): Historical & victorian. - Generally good for those who enjoys an accommodation of historical artifacts & old school environment. However ventilation during summer may not be that great as there is no airconditioner in the room. Hot water is given upon request thus hot water flask are not provided. Interestingly we have no refrigerator nor mini bar in the room thus it makes more of a convenient accommodation for eating out. Breakfast is excellent though, eating outside the hotel is not so assessible with Dinamo Metro station a little far to walk to (20min brisk walk with 2 underpass to get to station entrance).

Pros: well-intentioned staff, eager to solve problems, good location on trolleybus lines, good lobby bar, lots of newspapers, very polite housekeeping, complementary champagne and fruit tray
- Mike (6/5): Interesting Hotel. - This must of been a pretty impressive hotel in the day, very grand soviet era, very tired now but that is part of the appeal. Beds need replacing and bathrooms are adaquate. The in house WIFI is very expensive, cheaper to get a Russian pre paid sim. 10-20 mins walk to nearest metro. The restarant YAR attached seems very popular with dinner shows, downstairs is a Gentlemen's club (Lap Dance ). It was worth the experiance but would not stay again.
- Charles (8/5): enjoyable stay - Staff - very responsive, friendly, good English even sometimes humorous. Hotel - wide elegant corridors. Old but not too worn. One of the quietest hotels I've slept in, though if you're as sensitive to noise as I am nothing is perfect. Sometimes dead quiet, sometimes a distant muffled throbbing perhaps representing the heating system. Breakfast -- buffet includes good, sometimes superb omelete to-order, various meat, vegetable, fruit, cheese, rice dishes. The coffee is never quite hot though, and there is toast but pre-toasted and not warm. Neighborhood - residential-ish but with an inexpensive cafe across the street, a pub with ok by Moscow standards price two blocks up. The location was good for my work. For sightseeing I think you need to walk 7 minutes to the metro, then 4 stops to Red Square, Bolshoi, etc.
- Berta (8/5): The hotel is beautiful - Thereia high speed internet (complimentary), the desk service is very poor, and all the hotel team don't speek english at all. It's very far from the Metro (must take bus to get there). The breakfast it's more than OK, but the coffee was cold. The building is impressive and beautiful!

- Anna (8/5): time travel - The hotel i very impressive historical building - kind of a museum of the peak of kommunist era. The location is central, but a bit far from the nearest metro station, 10-15 min of walk. For most of the tourists this won't be a problem - you don't take metro if you don't know Russian anyway... The standart room was clean, but very-very simple, kind of soviet basic standarts: old TV (the remote didn't work), no safe or mini-bar, the hairdryer didn't work... The breakfast ( included) was quite good.
