InterContinental77 (4/5): Hotel is adequate, manager was terrible - I have stayed in hundreds of hotels on six continents. I am compelled to write a review due to the astoundingly unhelpful and unprofessional attitude of the day manager on the day I checked in. First, the positives. The hotel has a good location for what I needed. Valet parking at $60/dy included fast in-out service. The room and bed were clean and comfortable even if the electric plugs were eccentric and hard to reach. The rooftop pool is nice, even if it takes two elevators to access it. Wifi and shower flow were adequate but not joyous. My "Hollywood Hills view" King was 80 percent parking lot but I could see the hills. Here's what prompted me to write a review. My assistant booked us last minute for two rooms for a two night stay May 5-7. As we drove to the hotel around 3pm, I asked my aide to ensure the rooms would be ready, as we had to dress and run asap. Cesar the day manager told us one room was confirmed and one room had been cancelled "on April 26." My assistant asked how that could be, given that she booked both rooms on May 4. Cesar repeated that one room had been cancelled April 26 and that the hotel was full and nothing could be done about it. I asked if there was any cancellation charge, to which Cesar replied there was none. Then he put us on hold and we waited 20 minutes before calling back, only to have him again tell us nothing could be done, and that he had to deal with a guest, placing us back on endless hold. In desperation, I had my aide book a room at another hotel so we could meet our work commitments that day. I arrived, was checked in by the front door clerk (not Cesar) in the small lobby with the minimum of warmth, and went about my work day. I was astounded that a confirmed booking (at an astounding $600/night) got cancelled - not by us - and that the hotel did nothing to help, and told us it had been cancelled over a week before we even made the original booking. Due to this rude surprise, and the rude insouciance and persistent unhelpfulness of the manager, I give this hotel two stars.

Riorita51 (10/5): Perfect location for us - Dog friendly, clean, convenient to our destination, quiet, comfortable. The room was a little tight with our 60-pound dog, but we were happy to have her there. It would have been nice to have coffee in the room. I admit to not being savvy enough to understand the coffee choices offered by the machine in the lounge. It's convenient having a restaurant on site, but we were hoping for higher quality restaurant food. The tacos were good but very greasy and if they had mango salsa, it was charred (but good - just not what I expected). My husband's top sirloin steak was sliced and just ok - again, not what was expected. My lemon drop was pretty tart; the ice cream (salted carmel chip) was so yummy and our favorite part of dinner. jaynel753 (8/5): Nice stay for my business trip - I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Wilshire and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful during my three day stay. My room was clean and I enjoyed the amenities included in my room. Also the complimentary tea and coffee on the 2nd floor was thoughtful! I requested the room with the view of the Hollywood Hills and not sure if I did get that room but the one I stayed in faced the busy Wilshire Blvd. and unless you’re used to the noise of traffic, I would request a quieter room. The only thing that was a bit off was sometimes I would hear my windows crackling and I’m not sure why. I thought it might have been the heat from the Southern California sun but it also happened at night. Aside from that, it was a nice stay.

As we were packing to go, we heard a series of earspliting alarms coming from inside the building. It seems that the fire alarm system was being “tested”. No warning was given to the guests and it was only 9 am. We remarked on this when we left and the staff issued no aplogy. Also, we had some really awful oatmeal in the rooftop restaurant.
Choo (8/5): Good location with friendly service - The location and the staff were great. Super helpful and also available to questions. We had the Santa Monica suite and it was larger with a dining table and sink/bar counter on the side. They had a Fellow kettle which is nice touch. Overall the place was nice but only a couple of minor points. The lobby is really small. Think their focus is more pool/restaurant. Wish the room has some extra coffee mugs. It’s great to have all that counter space and kettle but no way to optimize it. A couple extra amenities like complementary tea bags and a couple of mugs would gave been nice.

Limited pool hours—we were hoping for an evening swim with our grandchildren but the pool closes at 6 pm. As the pool is located within the roof top restaurant, that time makes sense, but it was still a disappointment as we arrived too late to get in any pool time that day.

The lobby is slick without being pretentious. Rooms are comfortable - best beds! Love the outdoor patio on the roof with the pool. Morning coffee was an added plus. Great restaurants nearby especially sushi!

TravelingLoaf (8/5): Comfy and stylish boutique stay in mid-Wilshire - It was fun to stay at the Hotel Wilshire after my last stay, some 15 years ago! The location near LACMA was very convenient and there are more food options nearby than my last visit. One lovely addition is the lounge on the second floor with complimentary coffee, nespresso, and tea. I didn’t get a chance to try the cold brew on tap or the happy hour but appreciated those options. The only thing I would have loved are water filling stations. There is water flavored with cucumber available for guests in canisters in the lobby and lounge, but more suitable for dispensing into cups, not reusable bottles. The staff were all very friendly, courteous, and responsive. Plus, the shower was very roomy compared to other hotels. Look forward to returning!

Wonderful staff reception, lovely amenities, very comfortable bed with nice choice of pillows. I didn’t have time to take advantage of the nightly complimentary wine bar, but did enjoy a lovely breakfast looking out at the Hollywood hills. I was visiting a relative who lives close by and was delighted to have such a great hotel option in walking distance.

NilsLDK (6/5): I didn’t get the room I have booked - Conclusion:  I had two reservations at the Kimpton Wilshire, both for rooms with a patio. Unfortunately, I was downgraded both times to rooms without one, which was disappointing. That said, I still liked the hotel overall — good service, spacious rooms, and a lovely rooftop area. Review:  I arrived at the hotel from LAX via Uber, which took about 30 minutes and cost USD 60 plus tip. Check-in was efficient and the staff were friendly. However, I was informed at that time that I had been downgraded for the first night. The next morning, I confirmed with the front desk that I would be moved to a patio room for my second night, and they assured me that was the case. Later that day, when it was time to switch rooms, I was told I’d been “upgraded” to a suite — but again, with no patio. So, I was disappointed once more. The hotel is located in a quiet residential area, with only a few restaurants nearby. If you're looking for more dining or entertainment options, you’ll need to go to another neighborhood. The hotel offers complimentary bikes, but they only have two, so availability may be limited. Both the standard room and the suite were spacious. I found the standard room to be cozy and well-designed. The suite, however, felt awkward — it seemed like they simply added a couch to the room without much thought to layout or comfort. Both rooms were clean, and the WiFi worked well. The rooftop is definitely the highlight of the hotel. There’s a pool, a restaurant/bar, and a cozy atmosphere overall. Breakfast is also served on the rooftop, which is a nice touch.
Joyce (10/5): - Love the comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. The hotel has a really nice coffee bar at the lounge that includes a Nesoresso machine. One thing I did not like is their small elevator that does not fit their luggage cart so pack lightly.. Also their valet only parking garage only allows one car to go in or out so you might have to wait for another car to pull out before you can enter.

The room was nice and spacious and there was a TV area as soon as you come in with a sofa bed. There were two double beds in the room The shower area was great and ample room to shower. The hotel also provided tea and coffee on the second floor which was great were one could get coffee and tea and it was a nice relaxing area with sofas and high chairs and if one wanted to work. There was also a large TV in the area as I guess so this was used for conference calls if need be. The hotel is right next door to McDonalds which was great if one wanted to go there for breakfast. However the hotel does a great breakfast. The hotel is so convenient for the motion picture museum and the Peterson Museum. There is also a Ralph’s store close by as well. A nice stay and staff who I came across were nice friendly. The restaurant roof top bar is awesome you can see the Hollywood sign from there and it’s such a nice relaxing atmosphere and has a pool. The views over LA are amazing 🤩 A great stay here for sure

NYvisitor2008 (6/5): Would not recommend for families - This hotel is in a convenient location and that’s the best thing about it. The noise level from the street was horrendous. We were on the 5th floor yet outdoor noise was so loud. (I have stayed in many city hotels and this has never happened). We had a room with a couch sleeper bed. This was the most uncomfortable thing ever. The mattress was paper thin, you could feel the bars and coils from the frame right through it. It sunk in the middle . Seriously that pullout matters should have been replaced years ago We were traveling with our older children who didn’t want to share a bed which is why we booked this room. I had come across a review that it was good for families which we did not feel that it was. The bathroom door is pocket doors that don’t even fully meet. Separate toilet also closes with a pocket door. All bathroom doors have frosted glass. The shower was all glass so zero privacy if someone needed to grab anything or use the toilet. Also one of the bed frame in the other room was broken and falling off. The pool area was nice although the pool closed at 5 every day which is ridiculous. There was a beautiful view of the city. (Can see the Hollywood sign in the distance)

The rest of the story: upon check-in, both elevators were out of service, and we were told that they were working on them. After waiting 30 minutes or so, we decided we would take the stairs and there were no staff available to help us carry the luggage up 4 flights of stairs. Additionally, some of the front desk staff will tell you what you want to hear but fail to deliver. An example: The hotel offers a coffee maker to be delivered to the room upon request. We requested the coffee maker and were told it would be right up. A couple of hours later we requested it again and told again that it would be right up. After returning from dinner, my wife went to the front desk to tell them we would like to go to bed, and we would like the coffee maker. The front desk person told my wife that the coffee maker had been delivered. It had not been delivered. Upon my wife's insistence, the front desk person found a staff member to take the coffee maker to our room. Based upon the cost of this hotel/parking, we expected better service. Not likely to stay at this particular Kimpton property again.

983carlab (8/5): You pay a little more than you get - Super convenient to LACMA (which was closed for renovations...), the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures (which was was better than expected), and The Grove (good for meals). We paid for a little patio, but it rained every time, so we could not use it. The little bar restaurant had a good view, good food, and friendly service. We ate there twice and other than convenience that was the best things about this Kimpton. The additional amenities and parking, pretty much double what you are paying (but we knew this going into it). Probably would look for something with better value next time.

Our room had a patio and I would recommend that over the higher rooms that may have a view but no balcony. The upstairs restaurant has a great view and it's good especially for breakfast. Steve698 (8/5): Kimpton Wilshire is Good Value for Recently Remodeled Hotel Not in Best Location for Beverly Hills - The Kimpton Wilshire was recently remodeled with new carpets, wallpaper, and effective and quiet air conditioning & heating in the rooms. The shower in the bathroom was big enough for two or three people and the king-size bed in my room was comfortable, with linens changed daily. The location for the hotel is on a part of Wilshire that has some vacant stores, and is 10 or so blocks from the best part of Beverly Hills. However the hotel is only about six blocks in the other direction from the L.A. County Art Museum (with two buildings open and a third being renovated) , and the fairly new Tar Pits Museum with fascinating reproductions of the bones of dinosaurs and other ancient animals that were trapped in the Tar Pits. One of four locations of the enjoyable mid-priced Uovo Italian pasta restaurant, with an open kitchen surrounded by the tables and counter serving area is very close to the hotel. The lobby of the hotel is extremely small and there is no doorman at the front door. I felt a downpoint was that the only restaurant in the hotel is Videre, on the roof of the hotel, with a small enclosed dining area and some tables around the hotel's swimming pool. Videre has a very small number of menu choices although breakfast can be ordered for room service. The servers are polite but the choice of menu items is small. The hotel appears to be priced below the larger AC by Marriott Hotel nearby. By joining IHG rewards, lwhich also includes rewards for several other chains, including Holiday Inn, one earns points and sometimes can get special rates at this and other Kimpton Hotels.

Small room as expected in a high rise hotel in LA but more than adequate for 2 people.

There were no less than 8 hairs in the bed; it was clear that the sheets hadn't been changed. I went back to the front desk and they said they were sold out but offered to have housekeeping change the sheets. This was at 3:40pm. At 4:26pm I asked if the room was ready and it was. Why didn't anyone tell me? I was sitting in the lobby in front of the front desk the whole time. As an apology I was offered a soda, which I don't drink, and frankly it was insulting. Perhaps offering to comp the valet for the one night I stayed would've been more appropriate. To add insult to injury, as I was waiting, a couple complained about their room not being ready and were offered a different room. Why were they treated better? Is it because I didn't raise my voice like the other people did? What an absolute lack of housekeeping and basic customer service.

Housekeeping: you need to be out of the room by 9:30 AM or they will not make up the room. My first day I missed that window. The next day I was out in time and returned at 5 PM and they hadn’t started it yet. Twice I called down to the front desk for different reasons, and both times it rang and rang with no answer. And there is no way to call ahead and request your car from valet. Probably should skip this one.

Scenic12478402798 (10/5): Outstanding customer service - Very convenient location for visiting cedar Sinai for medical appointments. My husband and I had a long drive and arrived late in the evening. Crystal suggested we order room service before the restaurant closed so we would have a nice meal and relax and not have to run around trying to find a decent place to eat. She also advised us that we qualified for a late checkout so we could rest after my husband’s procedure before returning home. I felt like she was family and she really cared about us. I will definitely book future stays here.
