Guest Reviews
- Anon (2/5): - This was the worst hotel stay of my life. The owner and his wife screamed at each other all night and day. The owner entered our room while we were sleeping. The owner yelled at me when I went to check out and requested a printed copy of my receipt. I paid the bill, and then he grabbed the paperwork, yelled at me, and stormed out. When he came back, I used Google translate on my phone to help make sure I hadn't said something wrong given the language barrier. Again, using Google translate on my phone, I apologized for any confusion and asked for a printed copy of the bill. He yelled at me and grabbed me by my wrists and shook me. My sister and I had already paid, so we grabbed our luggage and left immediately. I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone given the experience. I have never been yelled at before like this-- much less assaulted.
- Edwin (6/5): Noisy hotel - My hotel room was nice, but noisy during the night and very early morning. People talking loud and doors slamming. The hotel is located on the second floor, but there is no elevator from the street to the first floor this is a struggle when traveling with heavy luggage.
The hotel is conveniently located two blocks away from the train station.
- Jean F (10/5): Perfect for a family stop in Floro - Great hosts, clean, incredibly convenient to the train station to drop our bags and venture out to see Firenze. Beds comfy, large room.
- Isamara (10/5): Maravilhoso - Não tenho palavras para explicar o acolhimento neste hotel. Me senti em casa. O quarto era lindo! A cama super confortável. O banheiro e o quarto sempre limpo.
- PD (6/5): Basic hotel in good location - Initial problem with the hotel unable to trace my online booking, but fortunately a room was available. One of several hotels in the same building. Clean, functional and (by Florentine standards) reasonably cheap, but very basic - a bit of a throwback to the 1980s (but not in a retro way). My room was at the front and so subject to a lot of street noise – especially the cleaning at about 1am. Very convenient location, close to the railway station and the sights. Proprietor was friendly enough, but did not speak English and seemed reluctant to speak Italian slowly enough for me to understand.
- dawn (8/5): great location for train station and local buses - room was basic but clean and hot chocolate at breakfast was wonderful!
- Marta (8/5): Perfect fot a few days - My bedroom was really big. It has air conditioner and TV. Beds comfortable. The staff at the reception very nice and helpful. The only inconvenience I found is that there is no shampoo and the reception is not 24h. Keep in mind that it's not a hotel, it's a pension.
Definetly I would repeat
- Wayne (8/5): Homely feel, great location .? - We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Serena, it was a homely feel, being so far away from home. Handy location to trains,&short walk to town centre, nice balcony off room.
- LUIS (8/5): BUENA RELACION COSTO BENEFICIO - EN TERMINOS GENERALES BIEN, MUY CERCA DE LA ESTACION SANTA MARIA NOVELLA Y MUY CERCA DEL CACO ANTIGUO.
SE DEBE AGREGAR QUE LA ENTRADA EN EL PRIMER PISO ES MUY DETERIORADA YEL ASCENSOR AL SEGUNDO PISO DONDE ESTA EL HOTELNO SIRVE, POR LO DEMAS BIEN
- Rod (6/5): Well situated for sights and station - Fairly basic but comfortable accommodation. Owners helpful but speak little English. Street was a bit noisy overnight...people rather than traffic.
- David (8/5): Letto singolo lungo!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Home run hotel with very basic essentials. There's communication problem because the owners could only speak Italian. Our room was cold as the heating didn't function well. Blanket was old. There's also a dog in d hotel. Not a pleasant stay for our 4 nights there and it was expensive. We booked this hotel at the last minute because Hotel Consigli which we had booked months ahead informed us at last minute to cancelled our booking with them as they r renovating their rooms. I'm very unhappy with this as we had a very hard time finding another decent hotel at reasonable rate.
The owner gave us a firenze magnet as a gesture of thanks.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A clean, comfortable room close to the train station and within walking distance of many sights.
- Sudha (8/5): Nice clean hotel, helpfull staff. - The hotel is very close to Santa Maria Nouvella station - just about 7-9 minutes walk. Our room wasspacious and clean. The breakfast start was at 7:30 am but since we had to leave even earlier, they served us early.... very impressed indeed. And they kept our luggage for us.
- Danielle (2/5): Good location, bad service - The hotel is conviniently located close to the train terminal. The hotel was clean but it is about it. The owners didn t speak anything but Italian. The breakfast was poor. We could hardly get any shampoo or soap for our room. The hotel was outdated and offered a very basis level of confort. It would rather be described as an hostel that an hotel per say. Even the only employee that could speak English didnt make any effort to satisfy us on any level.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Stayed for 4 nights. Reasonable price, very close and convenient to train station and conference center in a good neighborhood (better than hotel in the other side of train station). Walking distance from all places of interests, since Florence is not a large city. Check in & out was in English and with good introduction to Florence. Room was comfortable and tidy. Warm and rich breakfast with Cappuccino every morning prepared by the old gentleman.
The keys need to be stored in hotel without taking out, yet I felt safe since they were very alert every time I go in & out.
Will stay again if revisit Florence.
- William (10/5): Great location and comfortable stay for the price. - We had a great stay at the hotel. The room was fine with a view of the street. Only steps away from the train station. The complimentary breakfast was outstanding. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very comfortable. Good breakfast. Quiet neighbourhood. Very convenient location.
Staff could not converse in English. Wi-fi connectivity was poor.
- Nathan (4/5): - Hotel was very close to the train station which was very nice, but the walls were extremely thin and heard lots of noise in our room, had trouble sleeping because of it. When we checked in, the gal at the front desk spoke English - we didn't see her the rest of the time and no one else that worked at the hotel spoke any English. This was mildly frustrating.
- lily (4/5): Close to station - Grumpy old man at the reception, noisy at reception ! Noisy if you are facing the Main Street !
Beware of mosquitoes! Breakfast was not worth describing ! For the price you can get something better !
- Verified traveler (8/5): Reasonable 3* - Very reasonable three star hotel. Very comfortable bed. Good coffee. Good location for conferences and station and not too far to sights. They just need to check nighttime telephone and door bell noise (best avoid any rooms beside reception).
- Maribeth (8/5): Excellent Value - Hotel less than a 5 minute walk from Santa Maria Novella Train Station. Very convenient to the sights we wanted to see and the museums. Bed was brand new mattress and a bit stiff but overall good value for money. Breakfast very nice and just enough, coffee good.
- snacks on a train (8/5): convenient to train station - Great breakfast, great service, spacious room, reasonably close to tourist sites.Close to quite a few restaurants. Location could be noisy at night. A bit hard to locate as it was on the second floor and not prominently identified. The staff spoke minimal English but did a great job of being of service anyway. It was a good value for the cost.
- Malle (8/5): Comfortable room in excellent location - We had no trouble finding the hotel - just a 5 minute walk from train station. The location is great - everything to see and do within a 30 minute walk radius. Restaurants, stores and market around the corner. Owner spoke only a few words of English but through sign language and my dictionary I got him to book us a tour. Continental breakfast was limited but fresh and tasty. He made the best capuccino in our travels! Owner was really nice (outwardly looked like a typical "grumpy old man"!) and helpful. We would recommend the Hotel to everyone.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic hotel! - we stayed 3 nights in this lovely hotel. Excellent location, close to all sights and near the train station. Our room was big and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent wifi signal and good breakfast. A recommended hotel!
- D. Fernandes (8/5): Walking distance from Florence SMN - Small family owned hotel. The owners are an older couple that do not speak English but recently hired someone to solve that problem. They opened the breakfast area 15 minutes earlier for us on the day that we left as a courtesy. The only issue we had was that the wi-fi did not work in the room and we had to sit in the hallway to use the internet.
- Louis (10/5): Good location. Worth the money. - Less then 5 mins walking time from the Train station. The elevator is very small and in a very old fashion, good for two persons, but the hotel is on the first floor so it is not a problem to me. It is operated by a family and it gives me a feeling of B&B instead of a regular hotel. Staffs a very friendly and they love to speak Italian to you if you want to practice your Italian. They understood English so when I used up my few Italian words, I just speak English.
Room is clean. It comes with a simple breakfast (bread, cereal, fruit, yogurt, juice and coffee). The water pressure is at the lower end in the shower but acceptable.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Close to train station - Not really comfortable place to stay. Feel like being watched all the time.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It is close to the main train station. That's it. Try to find a different hotel. Our room was # 1. The room was exactly at the reception area. The doors are regular indoor room doors. All the noise from the phone, TV or people talking came directly in. The breakfast room was on the other side. Very loud. Worst part was that the bathroom door was a sliding door. A nob prevented the door of fully closing. It was 1 inch open! Very, very small bathroom. I am a normal size person of 140 pound and I had barley any room to towel off.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disapointed - During our stay, we felt that the owners were very rude to us. They wouldn't give us much information when we asked. We were very upset when we found out that you are not allowed to take the room key with you when you left. I don't mean after checkout, I mean during your stay. The keys are to be left in a public place where everyone can see that you are gone and can grab it, and go in your room while you are gone. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
- Jerome (10/5): All essential amenities are included - Very friendly staff. This hotel is only minutes away from the best tourist attractions in Florence and the rooms include all the essential amenities one would need including a private bathroom, TV and wifi.
I would choose this same hotel if I had to visit Florence again.
- Mia (6/5): Very close to main tourist area and good value - The room was large and very fair value. But the street was a bit noisy if you want to relax with the window open. Hotel staff were friendly and phone in the morning to check if we wanted breakfast. Wifi was fast and reliable. The location was fantastic. 1 min walk from the main station and 5 min walk from the main tourist area.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel owner seemed kind of grumpy.
Our room was directly connected to the lobby which made the noise unbearable
