- Michel (6/5): - Iberostar Cancun has the potential to be a real five star hotel, however, as one of the staff said it, it’s the oldest property of the chain in the area and they are keeping it that way just to get guests to buy a timeshare to be in other ones of their properties. To do that, they give great service and show the potential in case someone wants to be in one of their newer properties while neglecting this one. The property is showing age, with us encountering many issues, some left unresolved. Examples are broken fridge, toilet, ac, and door chain. In addition, even though they claim restaurants need no reservations besides Japanese, good luck eating at any if you are not first in line. The beach is not kids friendly and was first week of October still loaded with seaweed. The food in buffet was good for breakfast and lunch but not for dinner. On the other hand, pools are great, entertainment is awesome, and staff are nice. Drinks whether alcohol or coffee are great. Overall, I would not book Iberostar Cancún again because they are not close to what they claim to be.

Our room was spotless, comfortable, and the room service was always on point. We spent a lot of time by the pool, which was such a fun and relaxing atmosphere. A special shoutout goes to Rosa, our server/bartender by the pool—she was the life of the party! Her enthusiasm, warm spirit, and positive energy made us feel right at home. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely return. I highly recommend this place to family and friends looking for the perfect getaway!

The staff was outstanding—friendly, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. The food and drinks were excellent, with a wide variety of options that catered to every taste. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, every meal was delicious and fresh. The entire resort felt safe and well-maintained, and the location is absolutely beautiful. It was the perfect mix of relaxation and fun. I would definitely return and highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a fantastic vacation in Cancun.
- Guadalupe (4/5): - If you need an honest opinion from someone who works hard to vacation this one is it, overall we rate the place a 3/10 for starters, food was mediocre at best! We ate there 3 times out of our 6 nights because the food was terrible and bland! Everything in the souvenir/store inside is extremely over priced! $50 for a aerosol can of sunblock, just get an Uber to the nearest Oxxo, second of all drinks are not great! Water down alcohol, the bar pool closed at 6pm which is a joke! There is only 4 restaurants and they don’t open till 5:30 and one is reservation only, they were trying to give us a reservation Thursday morning for Saturday night, third of all do not do the (90 min only presentation) for some (free massages) or any other thing they offer you, Rodrigo especially was the worst!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Told us it was no pressure if we didn’t like it, I put a 90 min timer on my phone and was generous and gave them an extra 30 min of my time cause we had a scheduled tour which they were not respecting after I had told them I had a tour scheduled before we started, over all I would not recommend any one staying here go somewhere else!!!!!!!!! If you really want a (Mexico experience) this is not the place for you! Also room ac could barely keep up. Also really important! Hallways and elevators DO NOT HAVE AC!!!!!!!!!!! It is extremely hot!!!!! If you want your moneys worth go somewhere else!

- Fadi Amer nadhim (2/5): - I was very disappointed, i have been there back in 2021 and it was amazing, then in 2025 i decided to go back to the same spot and i took more families with me this time and it was disappointing in terms of service and front desk and the room i spoke to the receptionist and i escalated my issue to the supervisor and i spoke to the manger none of them could have accommodated my request or my issues. I feel like they don’t care about you anymore as they know once you book and arrive there you are stuck to what you have because there is no way back!!! I will not go there anymore and do not recommend anybody to go there !

But they will have the good stuff in the lobby . Also their entertainment was not good at all overall boring after diner the club was empty and pretty much gest will be bored at the lobby part . I would not recomend this hottel at all

(You do not have access to manage your room AC, you need to call the front desk for them to adjust it). The staff were incredible, super attentive!!! We enjoyed the buffet the most and the main pool with the swim up bar.

They would serve drinks to you warm, especially water when it’s hot as hell is not a good idea either. The pools and waterparks were nice for my kids. I had an issue with my AC in my room and they kept telling me to make sure the doors were closed in the room and they were. Everyday I slept without blankets and a fan I bought for my baby. They try to sell you with the time share thing and they kept calling my mom while we were relaxing. I probably wouldn’t recommend this resort or come back. The food and drinks need a big upgrade.

- Thuan Minh (4/5): - This is probably the worst stay we've ever experienced. I personally have been to Cancun over 10 times and stayed at different resorts both family and adults only. By far, this is the worst one. I did not personally research or choose to stay at this resorts. Our family just went along with our big family of 20 people total. Why did I say the worst? Upon arriving and checking in, there was no welcome drinks. At checking in counter, it was completely empty, so we divided our party up to 2 counters to check in. I personally asked to have our family and another family of 2 older adults to stay closed to each other since it's their first time and it's a big resorts. They don't feel comfortable staying at different level or far away. They couldn't accommodate that because it's fully booked. Only 1 room with a King bed was available for our family ONLY. I doubted. Through out our whole stay of 5 days 4 nights, we ate mainly at the buffet because we couldn't make any reservations at other restaurants. We had 1 dinner at the steak house but steaks were super dry and salty, so we went back to buffet. We tried to book the Italian restaurant, Oh my god, 2 nights straight we had to leave and go to the buffet again. If you sat the guests down at 8:30pm closed to 9pm, and took 30 mins and still didn't take our orders. By that time we had to get up and leave. Never again! The beach during this season is the worst. Seaweed all over and strong waves. We couldn't swim at all.

- Nathaniel (6/5): - In general, we enjoyed the resort. Don’t let Expedia fool you, the resort credit is a joke. We got the premium ocean view with a balcony. It was more of a side ocean view with a balcony but was still really nice. We came here to check it out and see if we should bring our kids. This resort would be good for kids because away from the main pool/bar is a “water park” the kids would be able to play and swim in. Overall, the staff was amazing. I was surprised how much other people weren’t tipping compared to other resorts. I would tip the bartender pretty big my first drink and maybe a little something later in the afternoon and they would give me the premium choice of vodka/tequila. DON’T FORGET YOUR YETI/STANLEY. They serve drinks in small plastic cups without straws. But you can hand them your cup and they will fill that up for free. Best snack food is the food truck down near the beach. Get the quesadilla de cochinita. It was phenomenal. The Mexican restaurant was closed, but we tried all the other ones. The breakfast buffet was awesome, for lunch we did the Buffett or food truck (because it was the only thing open and close to the pool), but the best food surprisingly was the American bistro with steak and lobster special. Overall good trip, don’t forget sunscreen or aloe (for pale people like me). The gift shop aloe will cost three kidneys!

Although they gave a few options in the resort of different types of cuisines, certain things lacked flavor/did not taste as authentic as described even the Mexican food. - Sarah (6/5): - The staff were great. The hotel is old and in need of repair. The lobbies and elevators do not have AC and are extremely hot. Food was mediocre at best. There are too many options in Cancun for us to be a return guest at this property.
- mark (6/5): The unselected of Iberostar Selection - We were under the impression during our stay we would have a number of restaurants to choose from reality is that many of these restaurants rotate days of closing perhaps due to lower occupancy but the restaurants were so small that even when they were open they would feel very very quickly some of these restaurants could see no more than 100 people and with a occupancy level of some 1500 plus in this Resort you could see how this could become a problem even with lower occupancy and then rotating days where everyone wants to try the restaurant because it's been closed so you can't get a table this was probably the most frustrating when you're spending 600 plus a night there are a few bars on property but only the main lobby bar seems to have a proper selection of spirits FYI right after checking in they try to tell you that you get a free spa treatment by checking in with the concierge that is a sales pitch that you might sign up for where you can buy a membership My suggestion is that if this is something that you are considering make sure you do this late in your vacation there so you have a real understanding of what you may be potentially buying so take the property out for a spin before signing on the dotted line
- Shua (10/5): - I really enjoyed my stay here! The room was spotless and had a great ocean view. All of the staffs were amazing. I really like having the app. It made it so easy for us to order room service or contact guest service while we were out on the beach or out for dinner. Food was 7/10. Despite that, I still think it’s pretty good given how affordable this place was. Highly recommend!!

Daytime activity could be a lil more consistant but everyone was super friendly anf did their best....pool was great beaches too., food was fine no cpmplaints from this season traveler. Exactly what i expected, a SOLID stay. visit.

- Marcello (6/5): - The building is not really manteined. With a small effort they can present the hotel much better. Finding a place to the beach is a race: not exactly what you expect to relax. The walls between the room seems to be made of paper: we didn't have luck, so basically we cannot really sleep until really really late at night despite we let them know in a gentle and also a rude way. The staff was nice, but in general this hotel worths less than half of what we payed. Never be there again and I will try to avoid also expedia: presentation of the hotel was fake: this is a 3 star hotel... to be generous... Good luck for your business, you really need it.

Perhaps if they would take reservations on the day, that would be more convenient, even if they don't allow reservations in advance.

I can be a picky eater and some of the meat creeped me out. The desserts looked gorgeous with a huge selection but they tasted bland. The facilities were nice! I would recommend this resort to others.

I had a set budget but still wanted a nice all-inclusive experience, and I’m so glad I found this one! One of the biggest highlights for me was definitely the staff. Everyone was incredibly kind, hardworking, and always had a smile on their face. I was truly impressed by the warm, charismatic energy of the Mexican people. It was also amazing to learn more about their culture through the nightly shows during my 5-night stay. I want to give a special thank you to a few team members who went above and beyond: • Manuel from the buffet restaurant • Chef Daniel • Solange, our housekeeper • Marisol from the beach restaurant • Aldo at the pool bar There were so many options for food, drinks, and entertainment—we had a blast! I would absolutely return. And if you’re like me—someone who values good service but isn’t overly picky, I definitely recommend this resort. The entire time I was there, I kept wondering what kind of experience the people who left bad reviews had, because my partner and I truly felt blessed.

- Rowena (10/5): - This property being all inclusive has everything. There are activities within the property all day long. They have good selection of food at the buffet along with other restaurants that cater to specific cuisine. I would recommend going to Iberostar Selection Cancun because of our positive experience. They also have excursions station so you can plan to do stuff outside the hotel for a fee. The only concern we have in this hotel is that on our first two days, the bathroom lights in our room shuts off automatically at certain time leaving you in the dark while inside the bathroom. Most likely attributing to energy savings. On our third day, our concern was resolved.

Front office could do better to explain reservation policies and need for special event signups. We were lucky to be taken care of by José, from Guest Services, and he made up for any possible shortcomings. Restaurants were decent. Some better, one worse. The best was the daily-changing buffet which we enjoyed surprisingly more than the various a la carte restaurants. Room was great, housekeeping very dedicated and caring, Beach was magnificent as always. Only thing are the hot tubs. Those are a welcomed alternative on a colder day, and that backfires, when they are only like warm… I suggest to remove them. Insight dive base, managed by Dressel Divers was closed during the entire stay. Nobody at the hotel could answer why. Hours of operations posted and obviously not followed. That was really upsetting, as diving was the purpose of the trip. Ended up at Aqua World. Not a fan, as way too commercial, but it worked out fine and was surprisingly well. Our gain, Dressel’s loss. I just think that the hotel should be on top of this, have details and otherwise kick them out of their property. Amazing stay and will be back soon. Thank you.
- Gjergji (6/5): - Quiet, For most part this was a good stay. Most of personnel work hard and they are respectfull. I will not give a rour start resort thou. Rooms ware spacious but old and bathroom had no privacy. Cabinets were also aged. This resorts need a lift up to make it to four star and up. Food was ok in restaurants but the buffe let to desire and question your choice. Drinks , vary on what you get but still tasted like a resort drink.
