• Romy (10/5): - I liked the Park that was just one street away. And then the Main station was just about a 10 to 15 minutes walk away. That was very useful. On the other hand there was a bike station very close by too. So eather u could walk to the station or just ride a bike.

I noticed that most of the bad reviews came from the customers who had similar situation as mine: got a bad room, I had to fight hard to get a decent room at the end. But the same story may continue for the next encounter when I check in to this property again soon, 8 more times.

And I had a business meeting with a Taiwanese company and they advised me not to stay in this hotel. The reason is that there was an accident at this hotel, but I don't care about the accident and I think the location and the low price are great. I will recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind an accident.

During my stay, I encountered multiple issues. There were bugs coming out of the ceiling, and it was evident that the ceiling had structural damage, as evidenced by parts of it falling apart, which I captured in pictures. To add to my concerns, I discovered that the large mirror in the bathroom seemed to be a two-way mirror, revealing electrical wires when inspected with a flashlight. While I cannot confirm if it was a camera, this raised significant privacy concerns. Moreover, the overall condition of the hotel was subpar, with the entire floor reeking of cigarette smoke. Given the numerous problems and discomfort, I decided to check out after just five days out of the 16 I had initially paid for. Unfortunately, the hotel refused to refund any portion of my payment for the unused nights. Despite the financial loss, my well-being and peace of mind were more important, and I opted to leave. In light of the privacy concerns regarding the bathroom mirror, I believe it would be prudent for the local police department to investigate the possibility of hidden cameras in the hotel. My stay was far from satisfactory, and I would advise caution to anyone considering this hotel, even if it's priced as a three star hotel it is in actuality a one or two-star establishment.

• SANGMIN (4/5): 너무 별로였습니다. - 프론트 직원분이 너무 불친절하고, Luggage 보관 서비스가 아예 안되요. 그냥 세워둘수 있는 공간만 제공하고, 누가 내 Luggage를 훔쳐가던 말던 그냥 신경 안쓴다고하네요? 객실도 많이 노후되었고 침구류도 오래되어서 너무 별로였어요.
• Ashley (10/5): - It does what it says on the tin. It's obviously not the Hilton, but for a good price, it was comfy, bed was nice, bathroom and powerful shower were great. The gentlemen on the desk were all absolutely fantastic with me, helping me as I am learning Chinese, they were very patient, and answered everything that I wanted to know. I'd go back here when I come back to Taipei. 5 stars from me. The only isue I had was with Expedia... I accidentally booked the wrong date and they said nothing they can do, and said they spoke to the hotel and can't change the date without paying again... so I asked my Taiwanese friend to ring them directly, and they changed it there and then, so I think the Expedia customer services I spoke to lied to me that they had contacted them.

• Chief-Ju (8/5): 櫃檯人員專業度及待加強 - 晚間入住時，櫃檯人員先首先按照一般程序拿證件比對資料，但其表示與訂房資料比對不相符，接著向我詢問訂單編號，告知後，人員表示因系統轉單問題，故單號也無法比對（所以詢問訂單編號的用意是⋯？），最後，我直接向櫃檯人員告知姓名的羅馬拼音，才順利核對；中午退房時，在靠近櫃檯時，人員仍托著下巴玩手遊，希望貴飯店能再注重人員的職能教育及工作態度。 入住選擇雙人床房型，入住後卻是兩張單人床合併，兩張床中間的細縫很大喔，睡起來不是很舒服，另外，冰箱的運轉聲音很大，冷氣若是開在較大風力運轉，則會出現高頻的噪音，若對聲音敏感的旅客可能要多加注意。

• Verified traveler (4/5): - 特にサービスの質に問題がありました。 フロントは日本語どころか英語すらまともに通じませんでした。 2連泊で利用しましたが、予約時に書かれていた「毎日のハウスキーピング」はされませんでした。 タオルの交換もされていませんでしたので、フロントにお願いしようと試みましたが、 「towel」すら理解していただけず、大変困りました。 （私の英語の発音はそれほど良いとは思いませんが、台湾の他のお店では十分に英語でのコミュニケーションが成り立つレベルです） 部屋については、シャワーが壊れていてホースの途中からお湯が漏れ飛んでくる、トイレの流れが悪いなど水回りに問題があるほか、廊下、隣の部屋、あるいはホテルの外の声や音が響くレベルで、ほぼ防音効果は無い様子でした。 値段相応と言われればその通りかもしれませんが、台湾の3.5星ということから考えますと、大変残念に感じました。

Sinon c'est mignon mais assez basique et fonctionnel. Bien pour dormir. Pas de petit déjeuner ou repas, pas de service de nettoyage de vetements. Pas de prise electrique libre, obligé de debrancher des lampes... Le personnel est bon et à l’écoute, et fait ce qu il peut, mais ils est la. Le nettoyage des chambre peut se faire assez tard, et cela c'es't bien. Bref c'est pas si mal mais niveau qualité prix c'est du n'importe quoi.

I felt like I was the only one in this hotel, located in a red light district that only gets activated at night. Fairly clean on a base account, the most unpleasant was the smell of the rooms which I identified as cigarette while it wasn't. The place was just old and needed a good renovation. If they fixed that smell problem, the hotel would be much more enjoyable.

• danky89 (8/5): Exceeded my humble expectations - Went on a new year's countdown holiday in Taipei back in December 2017 and had wanted to stay within the Ximending area (like everybody does). Unfortunately the hotels in that area were fully booked or were exorbitantly priced. We decided to book this hotel in view of its lower costs and were pleasantly surprised. It is just a train stop away from the Taipei main station and the property is about 10 to 15 minutes walk away from the station. It is also conveniently located in the midst of local f&b establishments as well as a convenience store right smack opposite. The room was satisfactory and clean for the price paid (albeit abit old fashioned) and there was even a built in sauna room within the toilet! All in all, if you are looking for a luxurious stay then perhaps it's not for you. However, you can expect good value for money if you are not fussy about living away from the hustle and bustle of XMD but yet, wanting to have a good base to explore the main city of Taipei itself. 3.5/5 in my opinion :)

Situated opposite a convenience store with a row of F&B establishments, it is a good choice if you would like to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the XMD area. Comes with your own built-in sauna room in the toilet - fantastic!

The location is probably the best part of staying at Charming Castle Hotel, close to a lot of hip and happening areas of Taipei.

• まるこ (4/5): 設備が古い - 古いだけなら良いですが、部屋の設備が壊れていたり、朝食がおいしくなかったりとで、評価を下げました。お部屋の掃除やスタッフの対応は良かったです。ホテルの張り紙には空港までのシャトルバスありと書いてありましたが、結局はありませんでした。

The reception workers were friendly and helpful. It's a great location that is close to metro stations, so it's easy to get around Taipei from here. I really liked the breakfast too. I would stay at Charming Castle again.

• 용신 (8/5): 너무 늦게왔어 ㅠㅠ - 아무래도 이 호텔을 내가 너무 늦게 온듯 해요. 20년쯤 전에 이 호텔에 아마 왔었다면, 정말 럭셔리하고 좋고 호화롭다고 생각했었을듯 한데, 지금에서야 오다니ㅠㅠ. 트레디셔널한 앤틱과 올드, 시간의 흐름, 고풍스러움을 느끼고싶으신분께 추천합니다^^ 그렇다고 막 럭셔리하거나 프리미엄하거나 차이니즈 하거나 그런건 아님.
• ufcarazy (8/5): Helpful Staff, Quiet, Great Location - The staff speaks English well-enough, and are very friendly. A front desk employee changed the hotel computer from Mandarin to English so I can type, and when I wanted to know where something in the city was located they would mark it on a map so I could take the map with me. The street the hotel is on gets a fair amount of traffic, but it is not noisy. There are restaurants in the immediate vicinity, including two convenience stores. The 7-11 has an ATM that accepted my debit card for cash withdrawals. It is about 1 kilometer from a Catholic Church and another church. The complimentary breakfast was good enough. The only complaint I have is the guest computer needs repair, or they need a newer one.

The receptionist is friendly and cordial,although the language barrier, but still try to solve my problem. If come back next time, I will live here
• Andy (8/5): Still awesome after so many years - Been to Taiwan over 20x and this is the only hotel that I keep going back to. It has everything if you spend time to explore.(Provided if you do not mind walking a little..) One of the best hidden locations...
• Verified traveler (8/5): Okay hotel. - Not too expensive, hotel was 10-15mins walk from Taipei Main Station, not many eateries in the surrounding area. Breakfast was porridge with basic Taiwanese vegs and buttered toast. Bed was a little hard but otherwise room was okay. In overall, just alright for a short stay.
• Engjie (8/5): average room with basic thing that u will need. - Visited her on the second week of march 2015 with my gf. room space is quite small in my opinion. the free space are just enough for u both of us to walk thru. Room design is nice and unique. Bed is quite spacious, room service is done daily. Breafast is provided for this hotel with no extra charges, which consist mainly of Taiwanese food, which are ideal for veggie lover and health conscious people. Bathtub in the room was clean. Ideal for couple. aircon is working well..no sound etc. however my gf and I realised that the drainage on certain day will produce some "drainage smell". Receptionist are very nice, especially one of the young guy, which I did not get the name, if u were to ask him things, he would answer u in detail. example we ask where is the nearest station: he could said cross how many road etc...very detail guy I would said. Basically this is a hotel which u can have all the basic thing u needs.
• Tat Cheong (6/5): Old conditioned hotel - A pretty old conditioned hotel, however, staffs are helpful and polite, needs renovation soon or else it will lose its competitiveness. Surrounding by lots of nice restaurants from low to high price, and some night clubs for men to explore.
• harpreetsapra (6/5): Average hotel but at a good location - If you are not planning on spending a lot of time in your hotel room, but want something that is well place, then this is the hotel for you. Very average rooms, but the washrooms are spacious. The staff is as helpful as they can be considering that they cannot speak English. The breakfast (the only meal we had there) was decent, with fresh salad and veggies. The location is great with a 7-11 right across the street, a great part to walk is right behind the hotel, the artist colony, the electronics malls and the station are just are just 10 minutes away.
• Robert (6/5): Served the purpose - This hotel had good location near train station and it was just a bed for a night to us. It worked but was unremarkable, good or bad. We were in and out so fast it is difficult to give detailed review, but nothing extreme to report.

• Verified traveler (2/5): Stay away from this place - There's not a lot to like about this place. The actual rooms do not look like anything in the pictures. Its old, its dirty, and very uncomfortable to stay at. Walls were very thin as well. You could hear the people next door flushing their toilet.
• Yiqing (6/5): Relatively a good stay. - There are a number of convenience shop nearby the hotel. The hotel staffs are also very friendly and helpful, and making our stay enjoyable. The room is relatively small but it is cozy and the facilities are well maintained. However, it is quite a distance from the nearby train stations, about 15-20 minutes walk.
• Rajat (8/5): Nice hotel close to lively Taiwanese eateries ! - We had a great time at this hotel. The rooms were elegantly built with modern day facilities, English TV channels, jacuzzi and a very comfy bed. Though the breakfast spread was basic, but we have nothing to complain. Right adjacent to the hotel are reasonably priced foot massage outlets and plenty of Taiwanese style eateries. All these promise delicious food, chilled beer and a great lively evening after a tiring day.

• Verified traveler (8/5): 3 Night Stay - Overall a positive experience. The room itself is just ok (got what we paid for), but everything else was great. Polite and helpful staff, good breakfast, things functioned well, etc.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Comfy beds, large bathroom & personal sauna - Really liked this hotel. Only a 15 min walk from Shadao Temple MTR and located in a decent neighborhood. Only complaint was the lack of variety at the breakfast buffet. We stayed at another hotel for the second half of our trip, and in comparison, this one lacked any continental breakfast options (mostly Chinese breakfast items, few fruits). My biggest praise for our stay was the comfy beds, followed by the large bathroom and the personal sauna. I would stay here again.

• mav444 (8/5): Clean and Simple - This was my first trip to Taiwan, so I planned on being out and about exploring the city most of the time and just wanted a simple, cheap place to crash. It's an easy walk to the MRT. No major complaints - I was satisfied with the value.
• 993margarety (10/5): Good value for the money - This hotel is good value for the money. I would definitely stay there again. It is a 10 to 15 minute walk to 4 different subway stops. The front desk staff was very friendly and whenever you re-enter the hotel lobby, they would rise to greet you with a smile. Daniel and Mandy who both speak English were especially helpful. We stayed in room 701 which was newly renovated and which had a beautiful glass shower enclosure and an in-room sauna. The room was very clean and the beds (2 twins) were very comfortable. We were able to get free WIFI in the room with some technical assistance from Daniel. There are a few touristy things within walking distance of the hotel such as the Guanghua Digital Mall, Shandao Temple, Huashan Creative Park, Zhongshan Underground Market, Liaoning St Night Market, and a weekend farmer’s market at the corner of Bade Rd and Songjiang Rd. The breakfast buffet was good and free 24 hour coffee (regular, latte or cappuccino from a machine in the dining room) was an added plus. There are several 100 NT restaurants in the immediate vicinity plus there is a laneway (Chang’An Rd lane 33) of restaurants at the first traffic light west of the hotel going north.
• M Yee (10/5): Good Value for the Money - This hotel is good value for the money. I would definitely stay there again.
