Guest Reviews
- Paulo (9/5): Bom hotel.
Prolijo y acogedor. Tiene un buen desayuno. Las habitaciones son cómodas, amplias y luminosas. La limpieza, muy bien. No tengo críticas. Fue una buena elección.
- Sara (9/5): -
- Lena (7/5): - The location is close to the trail. There’s also a shop 1 min away where you can buy essentials for the hike.
Breakfast was also good. And staff really friendly. Room not as nice as on the pictures but still good.
- Adriana (10/5): Wonderful base for exploring the area - Hotel Poincenot is a charming mountain hotel and a wonderful base for exploring the area. Our room and bed were extremely comfortable - exactly what you need after long hikes. As we were on our honeymoon, we were also surprised in our room with a bottle of red wine, which was such a thoughtful gesture. I truly enjoyed staying here and only wished we could have extended our visit.
- María Isabel (8/5): -
- chris (3/5): Disappointing stay in El Chalten. Wonderful staff but overall poor quality hotel. - a) Wonderful staff - polite, accommodating and they try their very best. Much credit to the staff of this hotel, for trying their best to overcome the shortcomings.
b) Great location, within close proximity to trail heads, restaurants etc. a) Poorly maintained property. Bathroom toilet leaked, did not flush properly. Tap / faucet in sink loose and swiveling side to side.
b) Poorly fitted privacy blind, which collapsed from ceiling when trying (gently) to lower it.
c) Insufficient pillows, poor quality towels, insufficient outlets.
d) Basic breakfast, given the price of this accommodation.
The owner of this establishment does not seem to be investing in the upkeep of this hotel.
- Ashley (10/5): Great hotel in the middle of town - Perfect spot right in the center of town! Staff was very friendly and helpful- they were able to store our luggage for us while we spent a few days in the mountains. Couldn't have asked for more!
- Ivan (3/5): Very poor, unpleasant stay - Close to mt fitzroy. Room was small, incredibly simple - not something you would expect for almost USD$200 per night. Breakfast was poor. The biggest problem was the staff attitude and support. We asked two days in advance to book a taxi for 7:30am to drive us to the bus station to catch our bus at 8am. On the day, we reminded reception about this and they promised us that they had called and the taxi would be there. It got to 7:45 and the taxi was still not there, and showed no signs of coming - the staff didn’t seem to care at all that we were about to miss our bus. We had to run all the way across town with suitcases and bags because of their incompetence. Absolutely horrible service.
- GABRIEL (8/5): -
- Elvira (10/5): Espetacular - Perfecto
- Renée (8/5): -
- Calvin (7/5): - Ideal location. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Breakfast - bacon was undercooked and cold. Limited in fruit.
- Manuel Felipe (7/5): -
- Stanisław (10/5): -
- Sabrina (10/5): Siempre vuelvo - Todo. Siempre me quedo en este hotel. Nada.
- Josemar (9/5): Tranquilidade. - Hotel novo, muito bem
Localizado, café da manhã muito bom.
- Ana Isabel (8/5): - The room was very spacious. The location was great - extremely central. There are coffee and water available 24 hours a day. They let us use the common rooms, which are quite comfy. The fact that there is no elevator to the rooms (mine was on the 2nd floor). Breakfast could be better. They do not allow a late check out (the set hour is 10am), even though check in is only at 2 pm.
- Manuel (3/5): - Barulho no quarto.
- Deepa (1/5): Super expensive, but it is more like a hostel rather than a hotel. - The location is great on the main st, walkable to all the restaurants and supermarket. It was a 15 min walk to the bus stop. Breakfast was decent, good options. Hot milk for the coffee was a bonus. The room was the top floor, super noisy due to heavy winds outside. Felt like sleeping in a hotel with no roofs on. The wind gust was so loud. The toilet was so close to the sink that our legs were under the sink when sitting facing forward. The tub had stains and the shower head looked rusty, dirty and not cleaned in ages. There was no coffee maker/electric water heater or refrigerator in the rooms and these costs extra. Table in the room was shaky and was there for namesake and did not serve the purpose. The room was spacious, but there was bare minimum amenities. No elevators so we had to carry the luggage to the 3 rd floor. It is a 3 star hotel with no basic amenities. It was one of the worst stays. We paid the price equivalent to 4-5 star hotel and received 1 star stay. Not sure how Booking.com rated this place as 3 star.
- Cassandra (10/5): -
- Cassandra (9/5): Great value place to stay for hiking in El Chalten. - Really lovely hotel, lots of breakfast options and close to restaurants, town but also the main trailheads. Coffee at breakfast was watery. Walk to town was a bit further than I would’ve liked, especially in the rain and wind.
- Jehoshua (10/5): An excellent place — one of the best in town. - An excellent location on the main street, surrounded by hotels and restaurants. A boutique hotel that is exceptionally clean, with well-equipped rooms and a warm, helpful staff. A supermarket is just a short walk away, and it’s close to the starting point for hikes and excursions — a perfect place to relax after a demanding day.
Bottom line: a high-quality place for those looking for comfort and quality.
- THIERRY (8/5): Bon hôtel - Le côté cosy
- Chelsea (10/5): A slice of heaven - The staff, the location, and the breakfast!! Nada; I loved everything!
- Ma. (8/5): -
- Martin (9/5): -
- Andras (9/5): Great place to enjoy the El Chalten area from -
- Manuel (6/5): -
- Dr. Frank Ochmann (7/5): - Frühstück, nicht sehr freundlicher Empfang
- Gwen (8/5): -
- Simone (8/5): -
- Detlef (8/5): - Sehr nettes hilfsbereites Personal
Gute Lage Wenig Abstellmöglichkeit für Koffer
- Philippe (9/5): - Very good location to start trekking
- Fernando (10/5): Perfección absoluta - Espectacular la atención
- Catherine (10/5): - In particular the reception staff were very pleasant and helpful in advising us on community attractions and amenities, and booking services for us.
- Federico (10/5): - Todo genial. Muy bueno el desayuno. El personal super atento.
- ennio corrò (9/5): -
- Ilaria (7/5): - Hotel sulla strada principale. Pulito, camera accogliente, personale molto cordiale. Colazione varia e buona.
- Igor (10/5): - Calm and perfect stay with all necessary services, 24 helpful receptions, all my needs were met and served, even some stupid questions I like everything, but remember it is a calm and quiet place if you look to have a chat for other hikers during, meet them and exchange experience etc. It is not the place. But if you want calm and well served rest after hikes it is perfect
- David (9/5): - Ok
- Ric (10/5): -
- Amit (9/5): Superb -
- Jo (8/5): Good hotel and location - Good location, parking spaces available. Coffee and water available through the afternoon in the reception and tea/coffee kettle in the room . Comfy bed. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lunch box available. Breakfast selection could be better, some of the eggs/ omelets was cold in the morning.
- Gary (10/5): - A jewel of a small hotel in popular tourist town. Great friendly staff!
- Joanna (10/5): Great stay! - We had a great stay. The hotel itself looks very nice and the room is very clean. The bed was comfortable. There was a mini fridge, safe, and a kettle with cups and teabags to make tea.
Breakfast was plentiful and with good choices.
Both Karina and Oriana were very helpful. And the rest of the staff are friendly.
Location is amazing. Near restaurants, a supermarket, and close to the start of several hikes like Laguna De Los Tres.
Would not hesitate to recommend.

- Jane (8/5): - Nice little hotel, and they bent over backwards to provide a gluten free breakfast for my husband. My only issue was that our lovely Room 16 had a view into the most awful mess, someone that appeared to be living in a container on the edge of the property, with tools and ladders everywhere. A simple fence would block this unsightliness for Room 16 guests. Otherwise the room was lovely.
- Tim (10/5): - The place was a good stay
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Great location for exploring the hills. Free, easy parking, the rooms were nice, and the breakfast the next morning was perfect (good coffee, bacon and eggs!). Definitely recommended
- Roman (9/5): Superb - Quiet comfy beds, friendly staff, big size rooms Heating was on everywhere and it was too hot, shower was unpleasant - no space at all
- Fiona (10/5): A lovely hotel and I would recommend that staying here - Comfortable and relaxing to stay here in a great location with warm and friendly and helpful staff. Nothing
- Philippe (10/5): Nice comfortable stay - Good location friendly staff as always in Argentina, ready to help. Breakfast was good Bathroom had a bathtub, but if you wanted to have abath you could only fill it with the shower, not convenient
- Marianne (10/5): Exceptional -
- orit (8/5): - The staff was very friendly and helpful and it was very close to the entrance of the park. clean room and Hotel. We felt very comfortable there.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Younan (6/5): - The hotel room is cozy but tiny and over priced. I booked almost two months in advance and was overcharged by a lot.
- Adam (8/5): Very good -
- heatherpW5131VL (2/5): Do not stay here - This hotel was gross and disgusting. They lost power and water throughout the day. The do not keep the property clean at all. There were flies flying throughout the breakfast that they offered. The front desk staff were very rude and unhelpful. The rooms also smell like mold and are very small. The WiFi did not work during our stay.
- 522nealp (2/5): Avoid this hotel - This hotel was really gross. There were flies flying around the breakfast food and the rooms smell like mold. The front desk staff (Julieta and Oriana) were not friendly at all. They were not accommodating or knowledgeable of the area at all and provided very little help or assistance.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good - Rooms are comfortable and clean. Staff are very friendly WiFi is very poor
- amy (10/5): - This was a great stay. Super clean, staff was outstanding and the day started with a top notch breakfast. Best coffee of our trip! The location was ideal for hiking and enjoying pubs and restaurants. Rooms are a bit tired and lounge furniture pretty lumpy… Would have been lovely to have a bit of outdoor seating to enjoy the views. But the upsides are of great value. Would stay again! Wonderful staff!!
- Gary (8/5): - Great location to the trails, clean and nice. A bit expensive compared to other options
- Peter (8/5): Great location for walkers - Great location for the walking trails. Good sized room (thank you for the complimentary upgrade). Nice breakfast. Nothing to dislike. It just seemed a bit expensive for what it was but I guess that applies to most of Argentina.
- Mikaela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wang (9/5): Superb -
- Rafael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Corky (7/5): Good -
- Hongbing (9/5): Superb -
- Corky (6/5): Pleasant -
- Corky (3/5): Quite expensive for very average quality and comfort of rooms. - Location; breakfast buffet is OK Facility is tired inside; rooms are very warm, some rooms only a single small window for ventilation; beds are just ok;
- tierneyj0hn (6/5): Good breakfast, clean rooms, patchy staff friendliness - Breakfast was good, room was clean and a good-size, bed was comfortable. No security on bag storage area. Reception staff friendliness was patchy. Towels were thin but adequate.
No hot water on our return and had to wait for maintenance to fix the system. Water wasn’t really hot even after repair.
They tried to bill us for two cokes we sought to compensate us for the lack of hot water on our arrival.
- Carlos (7/5): No good value for money - Staff is very friendly In general is No goood value for money.
Examples
The lunch box is 20$ and is very poor prepared
Breakfast has very limited
- Harry (9/5): Superb -
- wing (8/5): - Staff, service, breakfast, location and facility are all good. The downside comment is: loose roof panel which made noisy when windy during our stay,
- Jerome (8/5): Very good - NIce breakfast.
Perfect location for the Fitz Roy and Laguna Torre hikes Wifi is not very good in the rooms
- Andrew (8/5): Very good - Well located hotel for both the facilities of the town and the trailheads. About a mile from bus terminal.
Room comfortable and spacious.
Staff very helpful and efficient.
Good variety for breakfast and free coffee and water in lobby all day. Probably applies to most properties in El Chalten but felt expensive for what it provided. I guess you pay a premium because of location.
- joao (6/5): - Basically its overpriced for what they offer .
Limited internet during the stay , staff was ok but didn’t make an effort to please customers . Overall average with terrible internet service .
- Carlos (10/5): - All the staff was amazing and so kind since the first minute we arrived
- Iveta (4/5): Wouldn’t stay again.. - Location, helpful staff, nice lunch boxes for hikes. Our room on the third floor had a strong, unpleasant odor that resembled dust. We couldn’t ventilate the space since the bedroom window didn’t open. Breakfast was the same every day, and the “hot” items, like scrambled eggs and bacon, were always cold. Overall, our stay was disappointing, and I would recommend avoiding this place. Additionally, there was no refrigerator in the room, and we didn’t have a card for Do Not Disturb or room cleaning. It felt more like a basic accommodation than a hotel.
- Jinbin (6/5): - Stayed in room 24 which faces the afternoon sun. It's already autumn but the room got so hot in the afternoon that we had to open the window to let in the cool autumm air. Unfortunately, the houseflies flew in too! We spent the next 2 days getting rid of the houseflies. I think we killed at least 6 of them. Cannot imagine what it's like to be staying in that room in summer.
On the other hand, breakfast was good - their alfajores were fantastic. Location - on San Martin avenue and close to the start of the main hikes such as laguna del tres, laguna capri and chorillo de salto. There are 2 cosy sitting areas in the lobby (good to hang out in to get away from the hot room). Complimentary coffee and lemon infused water was a nice touch too.
