Guest Reviews
- Alison (8/5): - We stayed 2 nights. It was walkable, picturesque and great for the price. The rooms are dated however very comfortable. Great dining options on the Port side. Great craft beer place close by. Breakfast was adequate however, lack lustre. Good option if coming in by bus. Transport options galore.
- Joseph (10/5): - This is a budget friendly hotel but was very clean and accommodating. The free breakfast was excellent.
- STEPHANIE (10/5): - The hotel was amazing and a great location
- David (6/5): - In need of renovations. Shower stall was moldy. AC was inefficient. Rooms facing the harbor have a nice view. Breakfast very good indeed. Staff was helpful.
- E (10/5): Very good location - Very good location, hotel is old but good with a beautiful port view. Didn’t like the breakfast!
- Peter (10/5): - Property is in good location. 3km from the Old Town. Watch for cheating taxi drivers. Ask for a price for a ride to the old town!! Otherwise you will be ripped off.
- Alija (10/5): - Everything is good, excellent
- Catherine (10/5): - Always a good choice for the port of Dubrovnik, thank you.
- Michele (8/5): Convenient easy stay. - Clean, basic no-frills hotel for a good value. Convenient to port and near bus to city center. Good breakfast. Rooms are very basic with somewhat dated appearance, but nice balconies with lovely views of port/water. Staff was friendly.
- LILIANA (8/5): - Very nice room, port view, convenient location, only 20 min walking distance from the castle. Staff was helpful, good breakfast
- LILIANA (8/5): - the location of the hotel was good, walking distance (30 min ) to the castle and a bus station in front of the hote.l Room was pretty big, clean. Breakfast was good
- Piotr (8/5): - Hotel Petka is in very good location, 3 min to central bus station, a cross the street to port, 25-30 min walk or 5Euro uber to old town, more space to park car around hotel. Good breakfest and nice staff.
- Celia (6/5): - Just stayed for one night out of necessity. Not a hotel I’d choose to spend several days. Very uncomfortable beds and that’s a no, no for me. Bathroom lacked toiletries and the shower area was very small. Clean, overall, descent breakfast.
- Matthew (6/5): - Overall ok, but older property. Musty carpets, at least on 2nd floor
- Carol (8/5): - Basic hotel in Gruz port. Convenient for travel to the islands. Could use more outlets in the room.
- Viktor (8/5): Nice hotel in a good location - Very nice but modest hotel, good location close to Gruz Port and Bus station
- Nebojsa (8/5): - A good hotel for a short stay, especially if you take an early ferry boat to the islands, since the hotel is placed at the harbour.
Breakfast was very good!
- Lauren (4/5): Not a great stay, but convenient to the ferry - The location was great if you were there to take the ferry to other islands. It was directly across the street. It wasn't very clean though. There were weird stains on the carpet, and hair all over the bathroom (floor, sink, toilet...).
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was really good
- Patryk (10/5): Great stopover - We stayed for one night between the three islands trip from Gruz and the ferry next day morning. Room was comfortable and quiet. Because we were leaving early morning, the hotel prepared for us lunch boxes. The location is great just on the other side of the road to ferry terminal.
- George (4/5): Staff is rude - We were mistreated at lobby bar and receptinnist at lobby.
After a long trip we tried checking early there was no rooms available so we decided to kill some time and hang outside the restaurant's patio we ordered some drinks and had some of our own snacks we told by waitresses we were not allowed to have any snacks from outside. We moved to lobby reception and we were kicked out there too we were told to go eat in the parking lot.
Very embarrassing moments for me and our colleagues I never had this happened before, staff was not even apologetic very straightforward.
I will not stay here again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Plus…good price …friendly staff balcony view of harbor clean ….negatives …VERY dangerous shower to get out of …2 miles from old town …no in room safe
- Edward (4/5): Stay only as a last resort! Look around b4 u book. - This review is supposed to help others 'make an informed decision'.. . I DO NOT recommend this hotel and for GOOD reasons...
I booked this hotel on 5 weeks before I arrived for €66.15 for one person on hotels.com!. The continuously annoying pop ups when booking told me 'rooms are selling fast and the price may increase'!!!
2 days before I arrived the same room was just €35 on Hotels.com.
the day before I arrived it was just €45. I met guests at breakfast who paid €39 for the same room for 2 people. the price decreased after the date I could cancel. the hotel told me it was out of their control and the responsibility of Hotels.com. (I am a gold member which obviously makes no difference). The hotel said they ONLY get €54 from Hotels.com!
1. I booked a double bed to be told there are NO double beds in the 100+ rooms.
2. My room was supposed to be 'on a high floor and have a 'view of garden'...I was put on the first floor and there was a wall 2 meters from my window and NO garden.
3. the bathroom stank of damp. 2 pieces of soap were the 'toiletries'
4. the classic room was a basic room.. no minibar (as listed on site). It was very clean but still stank of smoke and had cigarette burns on the furniture and curtains. I had to sleep with both windows open. 5. the room I got and paid double price of others was 2 star.. Im sure there are prison cells with better facilities!
6. Breakfast was good but the staff were totally indifferent to the guests.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I like the location of this hotel, the rooms were very small and poor conditions
- Sina (2/5): Worst hotel - Real bad
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location of the property is excellent, close to transport both bus and sea.
We found the breakfast to be adequate and the bar service to be good.
The amenities and the property room furniture could do with an overhaul for us it was acceptable
The staff were as helpful as they could be, most knowing very little beyond Dubrovnik. Even the information kiosks were vague about relatively simple issues.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location for off boat guests.
Perhaps a little pricey, noy sure.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Close to Dubrovnik port/ bus station
Spacious room
Nice view
- Patricia (6/5): - Room was not cleaned when we arrived we noticed covers where not in place.
- Julie (8/5): watch out for parking fees - Good hotel overall. Good buffet breakfast included. You have to pay for parking which you pay when you leave.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Tired room and no hot water in the morning :(. Staff were courteous, decent lobby.
- JOHN (6/5): Bit’o Suite. - Convenient location to stay overnight to catch an early morning boat to Split. Otherwise give it a miss. Get there early enough to enjoy the balcony with port view on a sunny afternoon. Excellent restaurant Amfora nearby but full of mosquitos the night we were there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff were pleasant and helpful, yet thy were unobtrusive.
- Alvin (8/5): Goo Plus - Good mid-range hotel; good breakfast area and food. Room quite compact with basics.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location and breakfast were goof, hotel itself can use some improvement
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very convenient location but other than that not.much for the price. The staff were inflexible and often unhelpful, I was put on a floor with loads of school children who didn't stop shouting and banging doors all night. TV didn't work. And I was charged in US dollars which made it much more expensive than I thought I'd booked for (this is an example Expedia issue though)
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location walking distance from lots of places to see . Wonderful staff .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location perfect, but cleanliness and staff need improvement.
- Sandman695 (8/5): - Nice staff, clean premises and happy with service. Breakfast could have been better more organised.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This hotel was fine for a one night stopover. Room was clean but shabby. No air con so had to sleep with balcony doors open, the hotel is close to a noisy road so my ear plugs came in useful. Breakfast was standard fare but the whole hotel smelled of eggs in the morning!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great hotel for it's location and minimal ammenedies . Not needed though. You have all near by. super Market near bus station if you need anything else.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Rooms are clean , bed was big enough and great mattress. Nice quality sheets and towels. Check in was smooth and it was not noisy.
- YK (8/5): - close location to the bus station and the Dubrovnik port
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was cozy and so was the bed, a large bathroom was a joy
A balcony made the room look even bigger, it provided a splendid view of the surrounding mountains and the port of Dubrovnik
My only reservation has to do with the thin wall separating my room 308 with the 307, I could hear the lady yell on the phone and the radio out loud at 7.30
- V (4/5): - Shower head not attached to the rail so you had to hold the shower whilst showering.
The fridge smelt.
Couldn't order a drink k at 8.30p. even though there were no drinks in the fridge t tea/coffee making facilities in the room
General lack of interest by the staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good reception... very good breakfast selection.... simple checkout and checkin
- Patrick (8/5): - Perfect place to stay after the overnight ferry. Dropped us off practically at the door. Spacious room, great views of the port and walkable to old town. A bit run down and the carpeting needs replaced but these were minor quibbles in an otherwise enjoyable stay.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The staff not very helpful .regarding the hotel lift hotel had to carry all the suitcases on the steps . Very bad
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was quite good. But the hotel have maintenance problems. Except this it was o.k.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very handy for cruise ships, bus terminal and Konzum supermarket
- Dave (8/5): Good place to stay - Nice location opposite the port. Didn't have a front facing room, but wish we had as the view is more pleasant.
The rooms are compact but comfortable and the staff were helpful and friendly.
Breakfast was adequate, but not particularly well suited if you're vegetarian.
Ideal for catching a bus into the old town, as the bus stop is right outside the hotel.
- Reuben (2/5): Bedbugs - Woke up with bed bug bites across my face, chest and back. No hot water either. Quite poor.
- KuA (10/5): Recommended!! - Nice hotel within walking distance from main bus station and across from a public bus stop that gets you to the Old City within 20min. Breakfast was great. Would recommend for a comfortable stay
- Gaudz1 (8/5): Good Location - Good location for anyone needing accomodation before or after a cruise/sail departing from the Dubrovnik Port.
- Edward (6/5): Located close to cruise terminal and bus station. - Just close to cruise terminal and bus station. Good breakfast but a bit far from the action. Would be better if the beds and rooms were newer. It would make coming back after a long day feel better. Other than that... I would say its just an ok place for a 1 or 2 night stay especially if you need to catch a cruise or a bus the next morning.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was smelling bad, and their warm water is a bit of hassle to get it working. But other than that I enjoyed my stay there. You can get to the old town by foot (25-30min walk) or take a local bus in front of the hotel. There are some nice restaurants around.
- Charlie (8/5): Nice hotel close to the main bus station - Just crossing the street to catch the bus to the old town. Walking 10 minutes to the main bus station to catch the airport shuttle bus.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel close to the ferry port - Room is adequate. Breakfast is very good. Location convenient for taking the ferry to Split.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location for bus travelers - The hotel is close to the bus station. The room is a little old, but it is quiet. Free breakfast is too simple.
- C (10/5): Wonderful location, nice staff, good value. - A very pleasant hotel, I would stay again, lovely view of the harbour.
Nice cooked breakfast.
- Ray Anthony (8/5): Good hotel, good location - We were hesitant at first in selecting this place due to ratings online. But it turned out better than we expected. The room decor is a little dated, but it was spacious and functional. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom were clean and towels replaced daily. We stayed on the 3rd floor with a spectacular view of the harbor. Buffet breakfast is typical european fare and adequate. Location is excellent . Old Town is only 10 min away by bus. Hotel staff were pleasant and helpfull. We will come back again.
- Rose (6/5): Simple hotel but fantastic location! - I nearly didn't book his hotel due to negative reviews! Location is the best in Dobrovnik! Neat the Bus Terminal (10 minute walk), opposite the local bus stop taking you to the Old City in 10 minutes and the hotel itself is a simple hotel with all basic requirements. A Seaview room offers beautiful views. Breakfast is good with a large buffet selection but dreadful coffee which many people mentioned! But the staff! Oh dear! The most dour people I have ever met. The cleaner and two breakfast staff were the only staff that were pleasant. The receptionists are abrupt, unhelpful and downright rude. Our last morning, the man on reception, walked down the entrance steps (about 20 steps) to speak to a taxi driver picking a very elderly Chinese lady up but left the old lady struggling with her luggage. There is no porter and it is not his job to help. Disgraceful. All the reviews mention the rude staff. If you can overlook the unfriendly atmosphere, this simple hotel is in a fantastic location.
- John (8/5): - Location is near main bus station, which is where airport bus picks up passengers needing to go to the airport.
- Jennifer (8/5): Good location - Good location. We had a balcony so great view. Close to supermarket, public transport and not far to walk into Old Town.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel could be cleaner. The room was not clean to the standard expected. Breakfast was average. Hotel staff at the reception were professional but could be friendly. They were sometimes cold and ritualistic.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant hotel convenient for travel - This was a pleasant hotel, clean room and good breakfast buffet. A one night stay which was concenientnbltj for train and airport shuttle
- Verified traveler (6/5): older hotel, bit hot - Room was clen, big enough with balcony. But, not able to adjust AC enough to get cold enough temperature in room during 40 degree heat. Breakfast was quite plentiful but not fresh at all.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fantastic location - Couldn't fault the hotel check in and checkout fantastic stayed on 4th floor sea view room could watch boats coming into harbour all day aircon was fantastic and beds comfortable would definitely stay again
- Raouf (8/5): Can't go wrong by shooing Petka hotel - Good location with a sea view from the balcony. Bus station in front of the hotel and airport shuttle bus at 100 mt away. Excellent breakfast. Spacious room. Car parking. Excellent quality/price.
- Hau family (8/5): Convenient location - Good location , staff are nice ,very helpful and speak good English. Could do with a few more parking space though! We were happy with the stay and will recommend the hotel to friends
- Kelly (4/5): - We were originally booked in another hotel and they called to tell us that they overbooked and recommended Hotel Petka. We were very disappointed in everything from the check-in to the room and the breakfast. We will not be recommending this hotel to anyone.
- Margaret (4/5): Needs renovation ! - Good location for ferries. Right on the bay. Service was great. The rooms are desperately in need of renovation. Old carpet separating at the seams, bathroom really old and crummy. The room was clean but didn't look clean because of the condition. Breakfast was just ok.
- Lynn (10/5): Awesome View - Great view from the front of the hotel, fantastic breakfast, walking distance from the bus station and local bus to old town. Grocery stores and restaurants near by. Would stay here again!
- Snoopy愛旅行 (6/5): Nice seaview with reasonable price - The seaview from the room balcony was amazing. However, the housekeeper opened our door with her key early in the morning at 7:55. We were shocked as we were still sleeping. There was no safty chain inside the room and the room could only be locked with the key either inside or outside the room. The hotel would be great if this can be improved.
- Lawrence (4/5): Convinent location - Except for the friendly reception staff, the room is a disappointment. Shower cubicle is so small that you keep on banging into the panels.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice choice for short visit to Dubrovnik. - The room was clean and comfortable.
Price attractive compared to other hotels in Dubrovnik
- Gen C (4/5): Nicer on the outside - my first room smelled like cigarettes despite this being a non smoking room. The man at the front desk agreed to let me switch rooms. A little better, now it smelled of some awful room freshener. The room looked like a dorm room and was the size of a large closet.
Dinner was included and I wished I had just gone out. The buffet was unappealing, the only thing that was good was the breaded turkey schnitzel style. Breakfast was not much better.
- Natalie (8/5): Great location! Great value for $. - Pros: Reception staff is very helpful and friendly! Good size rooms. Great location right across port and walking distance to main bus station. 10 min bus ride (1A/3) to old city. Great buffet breakfast with variety of food items! Would stay there again.....
Cons: Housekeeping. Stayed there 4 nights; did not replenish toiletries; hair in bathroom/little attention to detail.
- Pam (8/5): Ideal place - close to Port & Bus Depot. - Enjoyed our stay at the Petka. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city and restaurant beats, but close enough to access them by bus at any time. Quiet. Excellent breakfast. Ask for room with balcony view over the Port of Dubrovnik - fabulous early morning views as the sun rises!
- Heather (8/5): - Great breakfast!
- Bryan (8/5): Bryan Sydney - We were on the 4th floor with a view over the harbour with a balcony
- Radhakrishna (8/5): Pleasant Hotel - We had a great time. The hotel was not far from the center.
- Brendan (8/5): - Excellent location. 15 minutes by bus from the old town. Very clean hotel and very nice staff. Excellent value in comparison to other hotels in the area.
- Roni (2/5): Nightmare. - Paid for 3 nights. Left after 1. Rudest man on reception we have encounted. Given 2 non sea view rooms, when we paid for views. Moved. Both rooms were 29 deg during night. Told reception - too hot to sleep. He said "not air cond season Just heating." Tried to open door to balcony but drunk girls next door talked to 3.45am despite us asking them to be quiet. Reception man didn't care, said they were nice girls. Breakfast room - every table covered in used food. No cutlery. No one around. Cooked food cold. Given not enough loo paper, borrowed some from room next door.. Horrid experience.
- Danuta (4/5): Hotel by marina - Hotel located by Sea side. Very close to old town. Disapointed with room cleaning. Bed not done for all my time - 8 days, towels not changed missing in the bathroom.
- Gilbert (8/5): - Great breakfast too.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Be vigilant! - The first room I had was not on the sea side. It felt like a cell, tiny and dark. I upgraded to a sea view room. What a difference! Well worth the 10 extra euros a day .... until I got bed bug bites. To be fair, I had inspected the beds when I changed rooms and they looked spotless. So I'm not sure if the bugs were in the room before, hiding in the headboard, or if I possibly got bitten elsewhere (I did take the local bus and had been on the ferry), and after the bites, I did pull the sheets off and saw one adult bed bug (which I proceeded to kill!). I reported it to the desk the morning I was to check out (got the bites the night before) and the reaction was of concern, but not of surprise. I was told they would spray the room, and I asked if I could go back into the room or if the spray was poison? When he said it was NOT poison, I knew the problem would NOT be taken care of, since I'm pretty sure the sprays to rid bed bugs are poisonous!
That experience wiped out any of the good things I was feeling about the hotel!
- Julio (6/5): Great breakfast - Decent location if you have car or take public transportation, but far from old town.
Fantastic breakfast (one of the best compared to equivalent hotels in the coast of Croatia)
Room was small but practical, and very clean. However, disappointed that in low season and with few people staying at the hotel they did not give us a room facing the water (it would be an upgrade but again, with few people at the hotel and having stayed for 2 nights it was disappointing)
- FKeet (8/5): Value for money - Everything else was ok except the bed was not firm enough. Breafast was great
- YUEN LAN (10/5): - Good
- Goran (10/5): - You offered two rooms: cheaper-with a view of the hill and expensive-with the view on the sea. I paid the one with the sea view. When I arrived at the hotel they give me the keys to the cheaper one. There seem to be some problems in communication between your company and the hotel. After my protest the hotel gave me the keys of the one I paid - the expensive one.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great place - Even though it's out by the cruise ship port with lots of activity, it was still a great place to stay, The staff were very helpful and you can just catch a city bus to the old town right outside the hotel. Room was great(sea view) , it was worth the extra money. There are little grocery stores nearby if you need anything and restaurants. There is a nice walk around the shoreline of Lapad right from the hotel, overall good.
- Jill (4/5): Good location - Booked and paid through Expedia 7 months in advance, only to get a call 4 days before my stay to say they didn't have a room for me and would be moving me to another hotel! I explained that I had chosen the hotel specifically for the location close to ferry port and bus station as I would be arriving into one and departing from the other. Eventually they said they would do their best to find me a room, so I arrived not knowing where I would be staying. Turns out that I was given a room there. The TV didn't work at all, fridge barely worked and air-conditioning very slow to cool the room. I reported all these things but nothing had been done by the time I left 2 days later. Room was OK but quite sparse - no comfortable chair or sofa in the room and the balcony just had one chair and no table.
- Catherine (10/5): Wedding Daze - We booked the Hotel Petka to attend a weeding in the Old City. The Hotel overlooked the Harbour and gave us a lovely panoramic view across the Harbour visiting Cruise Liners. We will certainly visit again and would recommend staying in Hotel Petka.
- Jacqueline (8/5): Great for boarding a cruise - We stayed at Hotel Petka the night before we were going on a cruise. The Hotel was perfect as it was directly opposite the cruise terminal. We had a room with a sea view which was brilliant as we were able to see our ship arrive in the morning.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hoetl Petka is located in a great location, less than 3km from the Old Town. You ate away from the hustle & bustle, but close enough to walk in or takd the local bus, which is about a 10mins ride.
I had a seaview room which was comfortable, clean & spacious. And with breakfast included in the package, it's s great arrangement.
- Gerard (10/5): - 10 mins from the old town but the bus stop is right outside buy an all day ticket
- Verified traveler (10/5): Reception staff fantastic - Reception was always happy to answer questions, helped up book a taxi and arrange a tour pick up. Room extremely clean, breakfast good. Good location if you want to be a little way away from the busy old city but still walking distance.
- Cathleen (10/5): Ask for a room with a sea view - Nice hotel near ferries, buses and trams. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Be sure to ask for a room with a sea view.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Perfect location and great price! - Couldn't beat the location! Across from the main ferry, a short walk from the main bus station and a bus to old town stops just out front. Great air conditioning, lift works good and plentiful breakfast.
I was expecting the renovated rooms from the pictures on the listing, but was given an older room. Shower had mold and room felt run down.
Suggest staying outside Old Town especially in the summer!
