- Tânia (8/5): - Localização muito boa! Falta de aquecimento nos quartos!
Sem cobertor de inverno!
- PANIAGUA (10/5): Maravilloso! - Nos gustó toda la
Propiedad!!

- Ricardo (10/5): - Great staff
- Alvin (10/5): - Excellent choice as a base for exploring Buenos Aires. Close to everything ... hop on hop off bus stops, tango dinner show, San Telmo market, Buquebus if planning to visit Uruguay. The room we stayed in was next to the main road, we can hear sirens, etc., but didn't bother us at all. We still got a restful sleep. Might not be suitable for everyone. However, our stay was trouble-free and staff were all helpful and kind. Happy to stay here again.
- Yanick (10/5): - You can’t go wrong with this hotel. It’s an old building but clean and safe. Close to everything and excellent price.
- Debby (10/5): - Great location and very clean, comfortable rooms. The only opportunity was the sound carried from room to room.
- Greyson Carter (8/5): - Stayed here for 9 nights on a solo trip, was very clean and a very nice loft set up. Staff were friendly and very helpful with making recommendations of things to visit in the city, no fridge or safe in the room had to keep valuables on me while exploring the city. Aside from that the location is great. 5 miniute walk from plaza de mayo, 10 miniute walk from the city centre. There’s also a 24 hour grocery store 3 miniute walk away.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fun hotel in central area - Central location easy walk to the Tango shows and plenty of shops nearby.
We were able to leave our luggage after check out.
Quirky room layout with upstairs bed
- Carolina (10/5): - This is my second time staying at La Fresque.
- Kevin (10/5): - This hotel was charming with its accordion elevator, hardwood floors, antique furniture, and classic room. Great WiFi in central location of BA.
- Scheherazade (10/5): - Great location, cool old hotel
- Amanda (10/5): - I loved the property, and staff. Very nice, 10/10. Loved my stay, can’t wait to go back.
- PIERRE (10/5): - Hotel muito bom. Limpo. Quarto Espaçoso e com bom chuveiro e banheiro. Bem localizado. Precisa colocar café da manhã .
- HARVEY (10/5): - Lindo lugar buena ubicación experiencia de hotel antiguo
- Oscar Manuel (10/5): - Good location. Nice facilities. It would be great i they offer breakfast or laundry services.
- Pierre (10/5): - Muito boa.
- Hugo (10/5): - This is a good place to stay. Clean and nice, 24 hrs front desk.
Pros: location, big rooms and luggage storage.
Cons: Old building, no food allowed in the room.
Walking distance of the microcentro, nice restaurants and the subway.

- Umeda (8/5): -
- Michael (6/5): - Hotel is more museum than hotel. Very bad condition of bathroom. Smelly room by mold. If you want to turn on AC you must call reception. Everything is very old in the hotel. Broken furniture. Not recommended hotel.
- Inmarie (10/5): - Excellent location...loved the vintage concept.
- JEREMY (8/5): - Close to the center of town
- Lucimar P (10/5): Bom Hotel em Buenos Aires - Localização maravilhosa. Bons cafés, restaurantes. Hotel diferente do convencional. Tudo ótimo. Uma boa experiência.
- Cláudio Luiz (10/5): - Hotel bem localizado, limpo e atendeu as expectativas.
- Sayuri (8/5): - .
- Ramona (2/5): - This property is frighteningly dangerous. Stay there at your own risk. It is very old. All the windows except 1 in my room was bricked off. Most rooms have 2 levels with stairs waxed slicker that a luge. The bathroom is downstairs. I knew the stairs were going to be a problem because I slipped and caught my balance several times until the last day where one foot flew out forward and the other went behind me and i fell down the entire staircase. Obviously, that injury put a serious damper on the rest of my trip. I had to buy a cane and foor brace. The front desk girl was very nice but clueless as to how to help. Definitely not a place for older people. More of a hostel than a hotel. The bathroom is beyond tiny. They have no iron in the entire hotel. Also, they advertise laundry which was the main reason i chose it but there is no laundry and nothing close by that you can do yourself. False advertising.
- Gary (6/5): - Interesting building. Minimal room and comfort.
- Ruben (10/5): - Fantastic boutique Hotel in Monserrat with nice rooms, friendly staff and a centric location. It even has its own museum downstairs!
- Freddy (8/5): - It was a very interesting place, with it's own museum in the basement, full with very old objects
- Neftali (10/5): - Nice hotel
- Stephen (8/5): When in town - Was only in town for a day. Was nice spot
- roland (8/5): - This is a bargain smack in the centre of the city and 20 feet from the subway
Delightfully old-fashioned hotel with an old birdcage elevator
- Steven (10/5): - Interesting quirky old building. Old cage elevator was fun. Bathroom was modern, but shower was in main room. Bed was up a narrow steep set of stairs in a loft. I liked it and would stay there again.
- Mario E (8/5): - This property is very charming. It doesn’t offer all that much but the charm makes it memorable. This part of town is great for tourists, nightlife, food. It’s actually very safe to walk at night you see kids and families walking past midnight. Police are around as well. I don’t like having to be buzzed in and out every time but I understand since it is on the corner of a busy street. But sometimes you might have to wait a minute or two to get let in. One time saw a family locked out late at night and the receptionist was asleep. I haven’t seen him since though. Probably a good thing because we were worried we may be locked out one of these days if he falls asleep again every time we went out late. Fortunately it didn’t happen to us. That being said I’d stay here again.
- Trevor (8/5): - Stayed 2 nights. Initially in single room facing the road. The air-conditioner never worked, so asked to be moved, 2nd night in one of the 2-storey rooms, much nicer, and with a/c. Lift is a classic!
- Verified traveler (2/5): HORRIBLE. Only stay here if you speak Spanish -
This hotel is run by college kids and it shows. After cleaning every easily accessible countertop surface and throwing away the layers of dust, I decided I did not want housekeeping in the room as I could do a better job. There is no notice to put on your door. I told the front desk THREE times, no housekeeping. Twice while sleeping housekeeping came into my room!
I get a call while sleeping to tell me I am past my check out date and need to pay. I went to the front desk and they speak to me in Spanish and i say: No hablo Espanol. The girl looks at me and says in Spanish: this is Argentina, speak Spanish here!
What?!!!!!!!!
I showed them my correct check out date and my bill was paid.
The hotel has long electronic codes to get into your room, but there is no light to see it. Towel slips off the white hooks to hold your towels.
You can’t eat in the room. You can’t control the air conditioning. Because we have smartphones now the staff basically was unhelpful and not one staff member speaks English and there is no laundry as per hotels.com site. hotels.com is partly to blame by not letting international people know that they only want Spanish Speaking people at the hotel. When I brought all of this up to the manager (a young kid), he just made excuses for the staff and said the woman who told me it was time to check out was suspended, WHICH WAS NOTHING BUT A LIE. THIS HOTEL IS HORRIBLE. but i will say they were kind enough to let me check in one hour early. NEVER AGAIN
- Miguel (4/5): - When I arrived, I paid extra to check into my room before 2 p.m. However, the bathroom was dirty, so I had to request that it be cleaned. After that, I consistently felt that the room was not clean. To operate the air conditioning, you have to call the reception; there is no way to control the temperature yourself.
Additionally, several electrical outlets were loose. I would not return to this hotel, which, by the way, it should be considered instead a hostel.
- John (10/5): - Highly Recommend!
- Emely (6/5): - Overall this was a good experience. The only thing is that we didn’t get new towels the whole 5 days we were there. We had to re-use them.
The maid just arranged the bed sheets each day but she didn’t sweep nor mopped the floor because we found the same pieces of garbage around the room every day. We didn’t pick it up just to see if she did and she never did. Sadly, we suffer of hair loss and the hair was never picked up in the room nor the bathroom. We had to do it ourselves
The staff was great specially in the front desk, the only thing to improve is the room cleanliness
- Eddie (8/5): - Great ambiance and rustic
- Jose (4/5): Think twice before booking here! - I rate this hotel some stars because it was very convenient right on one of the main streets, we were able to walk to a lot of places we visited. Don't get me wrong the hotel is gorgeous looking! Elevator service was pretty good for a very old building. We arrived a few hours early, so we just left our bags checked in for the meantime. When we returned, we got situated to our room. EVERYTHING was wrong even before we stepped into our room. The light above our door was pitch black due to the light bulb burned out. The door wouldn't open for us with the code they gave us. We obviously complained and told us they would change the batteries. My cousin that traveled with us went to the bathroom and there was no toilet paper. We had a very rough beginning!! The problem with the door was ongoing for over two days. The girl was upset and yelling at me because I was upset and complaining. The only good thing she did was transfer us to a room that the door function right. You would think we could have got an upgrade for all the inconvenience but no we got squeezed into a smaller space than the one we had at first. Since it's a very old build there is no windows!!! We had to keep calling reception every time we needed the ac on and mind you it was several times because it automatically shut off and they don't leave you the ac control. If they couldn't program it from downstairs, they would have to come up into your room. The WIFI in any floor did not work and that is they had so many.
- Ulises (10/5): - It was fine place is really nice but uncomfortable because bathroom and bed are not very close
- Graeme (10/5): This is the one! - After a 9 week holiday in South America and Europe I rate La Fresque as my favourite accommodation stay. I love "oldy worldy" and this hotel has been beautifully and sympathetically restored. The lift alone is an experience but without a doubt this whole hotel has character with a capital "C".
The suites have so much room and the bedroom is located on a mezzanine level above accessed via a spiral staircase. The vaulted and arched ceiling was very special and appears to be a feature of older buildings in this city.
The city is very walkable and La Fresque is in a prime location for sightseeing, restaurants and cafes. We found a delightful wine bar about 200 metres from the hotel on the other side of the street. Turn right and head in that direction. You won't be disappointed.
The bed was quite comfortable and there was little street noise considering the proximity to the main street.
The downstairs museum is well worth a visit and appears to be at capacity. There is old stuff crammed everywhere.
So that's it. If you like quirky, unusual and prime position in Buenos Aires at a very reasonable price then look no further.
- Sergio (8/5): - Pintoresco, hermosa habitación
- Diane (8/5): - The location of this hotel is ideal! We loved being within walking distance of so many area attractions, restaurants and shopping. The building is interesting and artistic, very trendy. There are no exterior windows, which is a bit unnerving, but manageable.
- John (10/5): - Central location. Subway entrance in front.
- Kurt (8/5): - Clean two storey rooms excellently located downtown.
- LORAE (6/5): Pictures are deceiving. - Rooms were very basic. The bathroom had very little space on the sink to put things. No shelf and no door in the shower. Water went all over the floor and became slippery. Only one chair on the first level, which you couldn’t even sit in because it had a hole in it. Bed was tolerable and sloped a bit on one side. Most of the lights didn’t work in the room. Room was noisy. The person upstairs sounded like they were moving furniture in clogs.
Location was great. Sube right outside the door. Walk ability to many places.
- Lan (8/5): - The front desk staff is very friendly and welcoming. Location is also very good 👍
- Douglas (8/5): - Many, many options for restaurants and shops within a short walk. There is a subway entrance literally 20 steps from the front door. The Obelisk is nearby, too. Great location. The real star is the front desk staff. They were so very help with luggage storage. Great stay.
- David (10/5): - Right downtown, not far from the big Av 9 de Julio obelisk. Mini-markets, restaurants, cafes, cambios a conveniently short walk away. If you like 1890’s architecture, clean and extremely well maintained, basic but classy you’ll love this place. Very Buenos Aires!
- Riad (8/5): - Good stay, great location. The place Just needs a little upgrade, that's all.
- Hugo (8/5): - Over all great experience… the staff really nice… thank you
- Jose (8/5): - Good: Service, location (near main sites, great public transportation), unique architecture, cleanliness, good value for money, toiletries.
Bad: If you have mobility problems then the room design (with stairs) may not be for you, cannot self-control room temp.
Overall - Recommended as long as you are aware of it's weak points.
- Alejandro (10/5): - The old elevayir texture walls an very profetional stuf
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - Had a great time here. Good English spoken by hotel staff and very friendly. Close to obilisco and subway station directly out front. I would definitely stay again.
- Ravinder (8/5): - Lovely hotel and fantastic staff
- Matheus (10/5): Almost perfect - It was a great stay, awesome location, just a few steps from the subte (the subway) and many landscapes a quick ride or bus away. Raúl at the front desk was amazing and super helpful.
The only bummer was that there was no breakfast as stated on the listing.
- SERGIO (4/5): - The room was really dirty, dust everywhere, the cover on the bed was really dirty.
- SCOTT L (8/5): You get what you pay for. - Location was great - central to everything. The hotel is beautifully restored. Just be prepared if you pick the lowest priced room: our bedroom was up a flight of narrow stairs with the bathroom downstairs and no seating on first floor. Not ideal if you’re planning on killing a few bottles of very affordable Malbec every night. The staff were very helpful and courteous!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Like the place for breakfast big and luminate and full of ancient things..
Prefer the room the second stay , was bigger and bed was upstairs. Same price but maybe less people.. was weekdays and absolutely no noises. Dark so we slept well.
They kept luggage while we went to Iguazu falls but doesn’t feel it was so secure... not closed area and locked.. but no issues when we came back!
Well situated... near lot of places walking. Loved it
- Verified traveler (2/5): Avoid this hotel - Excrement on the outside of the toilet. We were moved rooms 3 times in 24 hours. Appalling reception staff and the manager was not there at any point for us to speak to. Stained bedding also.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Hell Week - This was hell week. It could be a great hotel but is is no sound proof. It is sol loud at night with traffic whether the windows are closed or not. AC not working, bed was rock hard, bathroom door had a hole in it and now it comes. You can hear every step the guest above you is making. We had a guest above us whom was very active between 10 om and 5 am. We literally had no sleep during this week. Great location but a nightmare stay. Staff did nothing to calm the guest above us down. Can not recommend at all.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It's in a perfect location being right between the Plaza de Mayo and the Capitol and has a aubway stop right outside. The room was great and had a balcony and was two levels (which i enjoyed but might not be great for elderly or disabled). The inside was historic with a historical working elevator. The only downfalls at all were the wifi was spotty at times and the staff didnt speak much English.
- MichelleTorello (10/5): - Very nice, cozy hotel. Staff very friendly. Very clean and neat. The style was also unique. Would definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This hotel is a typical Argentina building in the heart of the city. Walking distance to just about anything and 10 feet from the Metro and bus system. Will stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location and nice hotel. - It was a great stay. The location is incredible, minutes away from main attractions.
The hotel’s old French decor style is amazing, the rooms are well equipped with the basics and are clean.
I would have given this hotel a better rating, but the internet offered was weak, to the point of being non existent on our last day. Other than that, everything else was perfect.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Extraordinary property with unusual and charming style, decor, and architecture. Rustic and carefully curated 20th Century reception/cafe/lounge. Beautiful woodwork, exposed brick, very clever and practical use of space in public areas and in the room. Very special and unique in a great location.
- Edward (8/5): Really nice boutique hotel with friendly staff. - A great place to stay in Buenos Aries. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms and a good location to explore Buenos Aries from.
- MichelleMendez (6/5): - Photo are deceitful , TV didn’t work, we ended up renting another hotel last 2 days of stay in Argentina & la Fresque refused to refund the night I didn’t use.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a really beautiful hotel. The location was excellent. The staff were really friendly and so helpful. My holiday in Buenos Aires was really excellent thanks to all the wonderful staff.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The location was very good but the hotel is too old.
Breakfast is also not good
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A great stay with wonderful employees!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Unique hotel with friendly helpful service. Walkable to many areas of interest.
- Raymond (8/5): Great location near the Obelisk - For anyone wanting a location in the heart of BA, La Fresqué is perfect. It is at the centre of the frequent ralllies happening downtown. It is an older hotel, with more recently refurbished rooms. It was not particularly busy during my stay. The room and bed were simple, comfortable, clean. It is a stone's throw from Tortoni, the "most beautiful café in South America" and is absolutely worth trying it out! The street noise died down at about 1:00 am. Some front desk staff less than 100% knowlegeable, but friendly.
- Garry (10/5): - Staff very friendly and helpful. Superb location.
- Zolton (6/5): Alejandro the receptionist was the best part - The hotel didn’t have access to wine glasses, iron, ironing board. Alejandro the receptionist was Extreamly polite and helpful. One of the reception guys was extreamly rude towards us as a gay couple but couldn’t be more polite and friendly towards the lady guests. Breakfast was nice but could do with some coldness meats.. all in all a pleasant stay and would return due to Alejandro.. when the room was clean the maid only changed towels and bed but left everything else like empty bottles of wine and rubbish.
- U (6/5): - When I arrived in this hotel, they said that they don’t have available room in this hotel. For this reason, I should go to other hotel which is the same owner and has sweet room. I walked the street, they didn’t call the taxi. Even they didn’t ask to me what I need to call taxi or transfer service...
They called the sweet room, but It was not seemed like that cause of the smoking smells....
- joy (10/5): Gorgeous historic hotel in exact center of town - Super cool design elements in this historic hotel with perfect location. Giant upstairs lounge with leather couches for relaxing. Private huge breakfast area with antique furniture and decorations. Downstairs museum. Our room had s downstairs entrance and lounge with steps up to the bedroom. It felt like sleeping in a private apartment under the rafters. Nice staff and location can’t be beat.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Super cool boutique hotel in absolute center - Amazing breakfast area and old style elevator with quiet two story hotel suite. Fantastic!
- Marissa (10/5): Excellent! - The hotel staff were very accommodating and extremely nice, and the location was perfect. Would highly recommend La Fresque Hotel!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Fabulous Hotel but needs either hot drink facility in room or access to it in the dining area please. Also, the breakfast has too much wheat-based breads without any savoury accompaniment. The breakfast got really boring after a few days - could there be more variety please.
