• Jacob (7/5): - The location was good. The room and bathroom were a bit small and did not look like in the picture. Everything was clean nice and claean. The manager was very friendly. On booking.com it said that there was a luggage storage, meaning we could leave our luggage at the reception after check-out. Neither on booking nor on the direct website, it mentioned, that the reception was open only until 2pm. This was frustrating, especially since we booked this accomodation over other, specifically because it had 'luggage storage' in the description.

• Marina (9/5): - Great location - a few minutes walk from the Rialto bridge, really close to all the main attractions, a lot of restaurants, bars and coffee shops, shopping etc. The suite was very nice: beautiful, comfortable and clean. The self check-in process was very easy, and the staff was really friendly and helpful. Will gladly return next time! A coffee machine in the room would be a great idea :)

• Daria (10/5): It was a pleasant stay overall. - The location was excellent – really convenient and perfect for getting around. The room was quite small, but I was traveling alone and had a single room, so it was enough for sleeping and one carry-on suitcase. For my purposes, it worked perfectly well, since I didn’t spend much time in the room: only to sleep and take a shower. I came for the opening of the Venice Biennale, so the price was above average, but still acceptable for that period. The room always smelled very clean, housekeeping was done every day, and fresh towels were provided daily, which I really appreciated. The place also felt very atmospheric. I really got a sense of the spirit of Venice, which made my stay even more special. There is a large terrace, although I didn’t use it. The shower is quite small, but it was sufficient for me. On the downside, the hairdryer was quite old and the air hose was torn. The pillows were also not very comfortable. Noisy since it is right above a couple of streets. Expensive but in line with other places in Venice. Could use wash cloths, but something we have found is not common in Europe for some reason. Definitely needed Google maps to locate it as it is literally a residential door in between two store fronts.

• Augusto Cesar (8/5): - Qurto limpo e espaçoso. A recepção não fica no mesmo prédio do hotel, o que já causa um certo transtorno. É necessário ir até outro edifício, subir ao primeiro andar para fazer o check-in e, só depois, caminhar cerca de 10 minutos até o hotel. Com malas, esse trajeto se torna bastante inconveniente. Outro ponto negativo importante diz respeito ao pagamento. No momento da reserva, é cobrada uma diária; no entanto, ao chegar à recepção, esse valor é estornado e você precisa efetuar o pagamento novamente. O processo é confuso e pode gerar insegurança, então é importante estar preparado. Viajamos no mês de abril, um clima mais quente, o quarto tem ar condicionado, mas eles não permitem ligar informando que é frio. Indaguei que ao fecharmos a porta e as janelas, o quarto estava quente! Mesmo assim, não disponibilizaram o controle do ar condicionado. Se esses três pontos não te incomodam: os quartos são ótimos.

It was a great location, probably five minutes from San Marco Square and the Rialto bridge in the opposite direction. We were in the annex building, which was on a very quiet street. Very clean and comfortable. No complaints!

We were able to leave our bags until 2pm on the day of departure. I would definitely recommend. The only slight niggle was that the room was very warm and although described as air conditioned, it was not. There is air con but only for certain times of the year and it could not be turned on. I understand the reasoning for not having the air con on at this time of year, however it would be good to update the description on booking.com to make this clearer. Ultimately it wasn’t a problem because we were able to open the windows to air out the room and didn’t have any trouble with mosquitos.

• Robert (9/5): Fantastic host, perfect location and well maintained rooms. Great experience. - Umberto was an excellent host taking care of all our needs. Communication throughout the booking and stay was fantastic. Great city break made even better by Umberto’s hospitality. As a family of 4 (2 adults & 2 children 13/10) this was a different type of booking than we are used to given that it is not a typical hotel set up. We were reassured from the start by the host and we found the accommodation to be very clean, in a perfect location (literally minutes walk to both Rialto and St Marks Sq), very secure and comfortable. Check in was very easy and reception was a few minutes walk from our room. Arrival at Marco Polo caused the biggest issue for us with over a 2 hour queue to get through passport control - because of this we changed plans and opted for a private taxi transport into Venice which Umberto organised for us at the last minute. This was a great experience. Firstly, if/when we return to Venice, we would definitely book the San Lio Tourist House again. Not having a 24 hour reception was not an issue as Umberto was contactable by WhatsApp or via phone. One small downside was that there was no supervised place to leave our luggage after check out (11am) on the last day after approximately 2-3pm (our flight left at 11pm). We chose to use a luggage storage unit (Vaise) at Piazzale Roma but this did come at an additional cost and meant moving the luggage over to this location (30 minutes walk) which is a bit of a workout - this was our choice and would not put us off booking the property again, but still worth noting and planning for.
