- ThoughtfulGuest (10/5): Take a room with a terrace - In a city that seems like it never sleeps, Barcelona's Ofelias Hotel was a glad oasis. e had a superior room with spacious terrace. The bed was comfortable, the room was impeccably laid out, and the quiet private outdoor space made things all the more relaxing. Breakfast, for those who like to start the day with a full meal, was a relatively accessible €18. Cafe Tartella up the street offers alternative breakfast and healthy lunch options. A mall across the street offers backup for necessities. Within two blocks of the metro. An excellent spot.

We were with kids, and it was a terrible experience. 4 bedbugs found in the bed and wall decoration. Not what you want on a family trip with kids. Still waiting on a refund.

- Camper64189626662 (2/5): Mould, humid, dusty, bite marks, noisy and VERY uncomfortable beds! - Myself and partner booked the hotel thinking it was a 4* as part of our honeymoon trip. We arrived and noticed the bed was the hardest thing. We asked at reception and they put a mattress topper on. I woke later that night with pins and needles. We complained again in the middle of the night as the metro was under the hotel and was really noisy. The reception gave us mattress toppers and pillows which we had to sort ourselves. The next morning we found mould in the walls and very dusty AC vent. The bathroom has no door or separation creating heat and humidity in the room. The AC is dusty so the combination is terrible especially having severe asthma. We complained again and the woman on reception was very rude and did not listen and told us the manager is off and is entitled to it and to sort it out on Monday (it was Saturday). I had white bite marks on my feet from all of the bedding which didn't come with pillow cases or protection and that what we was left to sort. Dust, mite marks, humidity and mould is really not ok for somebody with asthma. So we left the hotel and of course hours later we were offered another hotel under their brand. After the experience we did not want to stay and left as it was our honeymoon. The hotel still charged for a night we didn't stay! We booked into a 3* hotel afterwards and received a more comfortable, cleaner stay and with better service! HEADS UP DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

The staff front of house were very good but breakfast staff aloof and small details in the rooms stop me from giving it 4 * . They didn’t replenish milk, the kettle didn’t work and there wasn’t a corkscrew for the wine in the minibar . The breakfast too I felt could be a lot better , the Catolonia Group of hotels provide a much better choice of breakfast . I wouldn’t return to this hotel as the small details do matter.

- Departure133263 (2/5): Triple room has 2 normal single beds and a child’s Ben squashed in the corner - So disappointed, we booked a triple room and the room had 2 normal beds and they had put a child’s bed in the corner with a metal wall light a foot above the pillow, we spoke to the receptionist who didn’t think it was an issue, their attitude was appalling and we did not receive what we had paid for, when we returned to the room after dinner they had moved the child’s bed away from the wall so that I wouldn’t impal my head on the light The hotel was not interested

Talked to lobby and he said it's not working because of government restrictions. There was a foul smell also in the lobby something like sewage. We decided to move out & find another hotel. - Chi Por (10/5): - The hotel is nicely decorated with a beautiful design. Despite the room being a little small for a family of 3, it was a comfortable stay. The first night was a bit too warm because the aircon was centrally controlled so you cannot adjust the temperature. However, this was not a problem as we've found out that the windows can be opened. It would be ideal if reception staff could let the customer know about this during check-in. The room was clean with adequate supply of amenities. Customer service was also great with friendly and fluent English speaking staff. Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

- TheKidsMum2014 (8/5): Quirky hotel - Overall, we enjoyed staying here. It is off a side street next to a small shopping centre (bull ring previously.) It is easy to walk to the metro or get a bus into the centre. We enjoyed walking up Monjuic to the castle from the hotel. The rooms are quite small, but well-thought out. The view over the neighborhood at the back wasn't the most desirable, but we didn't stay in our room much. The pool isn't worth bothering with. We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel, but there is a great little cafe on the corner 25 m away! I would stay here again, as I enjoyed the 'feel' of the hotel and its location.
- iancD2703BE (8/5): Hola !! Go and visit Christina at Barcelona Ofelias Hotel!! - Hola .....What an awesome hotel experience this place is . We stayed in a Junior Suite and loved it. The bathroom was like something out of a glamorous magazine. It was centrally located in Barcelona, and right near a big modern shopping centre. Actually a converted Bullring!! But best of all was beautiful senorita Christina . This wonderful reception lady was amazing and so warm and helpful to these touring Australians!! Highly recommend!!

The second room was a downgrade and smelt on damp (102). While the hotel did move us promptly, they did not reimburse us for the room change, nor did they offer any form of compensation for the lack of sleep the first night. Very disappointed. Apart from that hotel is clean and pretty. But definitely style over substance.
- beth (10/5): Lovely boutique hotel - A lovely boutique hotel with a lap pool on the roof. The hotel is in a great location just outside of the main centre but fully accessible by foot or train. Walking distance to attractions and great food areas ie San Antoni. The staff were most welcoming and helpful.
- Q3962EJsarahj (8/5): Great, no-fuss hotel - Great things: The air conditioning is second to none, and an absolute life saver when there’s a severe weather warning! Always clean, tidy and well decorated rooms- did the job well. Good service by the staff Things to improve: For a 4* hotel, boiling the kettle on the floor due to a short lead wasn’t great. Nescafé sachets in the room wasn’t what I expected for the price- a coffee machine in the main reception area would go down very well with the clientele that stay here. Little things like one face refreshing cloth when two people are staying, nicer toiletries. The improvement points weren’t deal breakers and overall we loved our stay here. There is definitely a ‘type’ of person who stays here, and this appears consistent with previous reviews, but I can’t say it bothered us as we just got on with our holiday. The pool is small, but still great for what you need, as again you will likely spend most of your time out and about!

The bedrooms we had were clean & well appointed for a short stay. The beds were very comfortable and the walk in shower was a treat. The roof top pool, although fairly small was a great bonus for us all after our long days out. We didn't eat in the hotel, although the breakfast buffet looked good, it was over priced for us 4 at 15 euros per head. Would I stay there again - certainly. Would I recommend it - absolutely. It is well located for more most of central Barcelona's attractions.

- livbc29 (10/5): Amazing hotel! - The hotel was great (we loved the decoration!). The room was sparkling clean and have plenty of space and a few mirrors, which was great! They offer a delicious breakfast (paid separately). The staff was AMAZING. We had an issue and asked if it was possible to have a late check out and even being fully booked they managed to offer us some extra time free of charge so we could use the hotel facilities. The neighbourhood is great, we felt safe and we had a good variety of restaurants nearby. I couldn't recommend it more.
- Bindelj (2/5): The worst and most overpriced hotel I have ever had the misfortune to stay in - The most overpriced, pretentious hotel I have ever had the misfortune to stay in. £360 for one night - a so-called 'luxury' room. Pokey, with a tiny wardrobe, and a very noisy lift we could hear all through the night. There is NO bar and NO outdoor space, despite the photographs suggesting it is in abundance. The pool is TINY - the smallest I have ever seen. The other residents appeared to be looking down their noses at anyone who dared to be seen in anything other than designer clothes, and the shower was too small for comfort. I hated everything about this place. There were hardly any plug sockets, and none in convenient places. We had NESCAFE packets in our room and cheep teabags, and had to boil the kettle on the floor. And to top it all, not even decent Spanish coffee at breakfast (in the dark room in the basement) but a Nespresso machine. This is akin to an Italian restaurant serving a tin of spaghetti hoops. Avoid at all costs.

- Go58471375049 (10/5): Lovely hotel! 5* - Absolutely lovely hotel- close to public transport links and easy access to the airport too. The hotel is pristine and the room was spacious and well-equipped. The hotel is a 35 minute walk to La Rambla and a 40 minute walk to the beach- with lots of bars, coffee shops and restaurants that you can visit along the way. The perfect place for a city break!

- BLaMEUK (10/5): A gem in the perfect area of Barcelona - I stayed at the Ofelias Hotel in November 2022. We travelled as a couple. Location: The hotel is situated perfectly near Placa de Espanya monument/roundabout. It opposite the road from the Arenas Barcelona Mall. The train station is 3minutes walk away. So in reflection this is a perfect location for food, drinks and public transport. For example. I visited the Sagrada Familia, Casa Mila and Casa Batlo. All approximately 15minutes maximum by Metro. Get a multi-day pass as its much easier and cheaper to get around. The area is a shopping and restaurant area. This means, at peak times, it can be noisy (people eating outside etc). But it is not impossible to sleep and did not cause a nuisance even when I left my balcony door open for air in the evening. Facilities: The hotel itself is very pretty. Beautifully designed as well as decorated. The decor has certainly got the wow factor both in the lobby and in the rooms. It is well maintained, the hotel is clean and my room was made daily. I did not check out breakfast (as I decided I wanted to eat at the local Cafe Tatela *which I recommend*) and I did not check out the roof pool. The hotel is boutique so doesn not have a gym. BUT if you really want a gym, there is a Synergym 2minutes walk around the corner. As a traveller, I got the 7 day pass and it was perfect! Staff/Check-in: Very friendly and helpful staff. They were able to help with all of my queries and accomodate requests as required. Thank you to you all. Room: The room was a lovely size, light, airy and perfect for luggage as well as general space. There is cupboard space for hanging clothes, a big TV The bathroom is seperated nicely if there was more than one person eg. sink outside, seperate shower and seperate toilet. This is great! The shower and ammenities provided were perfect! Food/restaurant: I did not have breakfast here. So cannot comment. Summary: I really enjoyed staying at the Ofelias. I would come back and stay here with no hesitation. Its a perfect mix of beauty, quirkiness, location and lovely hospitality. Things to be aware of: The bed was firm. Some may like this, but the first night was a little uncomfy. Got used to it in the end. The climate control is wierd. I reported twice that it was not coming on/working. But from what I understood from staff, it is synchronized with the hotel climate control. I was quite hot during the night as it would not come on. So had to open the window. So I am hoping in the summer this improves.
- caterina2805 (4/5): Not comfortable - Very expensive for what it was , the view out of window is neigbours balconies and washing lines , so keep curtains closed the whole time , room did not have adequate storage at all , , no plugs next to bed across the other side of room , room small and so badly planned out , no where to put anything , breakfast was the same things everyday and not worth the money at all , staff were not friendly and hardly smiled apart from one young man whose name we didn’t get sadly but he spent ages telling us places to go and showed us on the map as well , so thank you to him for his kindness , but otherwise no smiles from staff , one word answers and even had to pay for 2 bottles of water even though we didn’t have any all week only the day we arrived and I’m sure as standard a bottle of water is put daily in rooms , very bad stay would not recommend . Pillows and mattress also uncomfortable, just not a good stay and quite far from centre don’t be fooled !!

- Mrsmusicteacher (10/5): A wonderful experience! - My husband and I traveled from Massachusetts to Barcelona not knowing what to expect as far as language differences, etc. We were met by friendly people who did their best to accommodate our needs. We were traveling with a transfer chair and, at the last minute, one of the wheels broke. Unfortunately the chair was really needed, but could not be repaired in time for us to leave on the cruise we had booked. We called around for help with no success, but the receptionist on the desk that night called a few people she knew and before we knew it, a chair to borrow for the week of our cruise was arranged. The rooms were clean, the hotel was located near public transport, and many good restaurants were nearby. Thank you, Ophelias Hotel for a very nice stay.
- WenShi (6/5): Hotel looks nice but has few problem - Ofelias looks like nice but there are couple problems, 1). AC temperature setting is opposite (lower temp set to higher). 2). Found electrical kettle in closet but no outlet can be plugged in. Also, the wire is less than 30 cm. Later, the front desk and kitchen prove this electrical kettle is broken 3). The layout of circuit is strange and easily break power surge fuse broken. 4). The girl in night shift has attitude and not friendly.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Pretty nice! - Nice clean hotel, high end but not luxury. The room was small but pleasant. We opted for a terrace room, which was pleasant and private, though it meant the room was on the 1st floor so if you like to be up high don’t choose a terrace room. Breakfast was good. There is a pool on the top floor which is quite small but very nice. Only criticism is that the mattress was quite hard — we’re not being sleeping beauties, we slept in a number of hotels on this trip and this bed was out of the ordinary.

- realondon (2/5): Woke up with suspicious bite marks - I stayed three nights at this hotel, it was nice decor but the rooms are quite small and don’t think the quality quite matches the price. Especially since on the second day I started noticing small bites over my shoulders, face and arms, all the parts exposed at night. I thought it might be from being biten whilst out for dinner by midges but the following day I had even more bite marks, and we all know what kind of insects might have left those bites. If I was not checking out that day I would have asked to be moved but I did inform hotel on check out they urgently need to inspect the room. Returning home I have had to throw out cases, steam clean at height temperatures all my clothes which has ruined some of them as I wanted to be sure nothing had hitched a ride home with me. Overall pretty stressful experience and I would not return. There is also the smell of drains at reception.
- Cheryl (2/5): - I would not recommend this property. I reserved a king bed room for 3 people. The hotel staff refused to let us check in without paying 80 euros extra and moving to another location. The room we paid more for was the same size. They also refused to let us refund our reservation to find another hotel. They never stated in their policy there was only 2 guests maximum for a king room.

- Paola Jahzel (10/5): - I traveled to Barcelona alone and this boutique hotel was perfect! It’s close many shops and restaurants, and I always felt safe. You’ll need to take taxis or car services like Cabify to get around other parts of the city (e.g., Gothic neighborhood or the beach), but most major attractions are either a 20 min walk or a 15 min drive from the hotel. The hotel itself is mesmerizing; it’s super clean and my room was absolutely charming. Breakfast was included and that was a nice perk to have. The staff are friendly and you can’t beat the views and the rooftop pool.

- Nicola (10/5): Beautiful Hotel convenient location - Beautiful hotel very convenient location beside placa espana, with metro, arenas shopping centre and magic fountain a few minutes walk away. Breakfast has a lovely selection of hot and cold foods self service as well as nespresso machine and seperate hot milk readily available. The hotel has a policy to preautorise the cost of the first night about 5 days prior to check in so do contact the hotel directly if this an issue. If you use revolut to make the booking, it takes so long for the preauthorised amount to be returned.
- Gagandeep (2/5): Bad Experience! - It was my wife's birthday and i got a room with balcony and paid extra. When we reached the hotel and got our room...after few hours the ceiling started to leak. We reported this to the person sitting downstairs. They first told us to wait till the morning so someone can fixt it. After an hour when we couldnt sleep, I called them again and they offered me a smaller room than what i paid for. I accepted the room and moved everything till this one got fixed. Next day when we came back from our day, they told us that the room was fixed. We moved everything again! Only know to know after few hours, it starts to leak again and the entire room is filled with water. My wife slipped on the floor and was luckily not hurt. I called them again and they moved us again! We asked for refund as the amount we paid for is not what we got. They told us to work with hotels.com and refused to provide us with a similar room.

- Laura Marie (10/5): Gorgeous hotel right next to Plaça Espanya - Gorgeous small hotel in a fantastic part of Barcelona (but tucked away from the traffic noise). I recommend upgrading to a room with a terrace - Barcelona has an excellent climate all year round and we enjoyed hanging out there having a nibble and a glass of cava. Nice little touches in the rooms (quality bedding, nice toiletries, little bottle of wine and glasses left for us in the evening plus an extra duvet brought to us at 1am when it got a bit chilly in the room - thanks!). No idea what the breakfast is like, we chose to go to Benedict lab a few blocks away for a cracking brunch. Next door is Las Arenas shopping centre and the footsteps of Montjuic.

Very clean and comfortable throughout the hotel including the sitting rooms, our room and the pool area. The beds were also very comfortable. The little extras that they gave us like bedroom slippers, map of the city and facial wipes were a nice touch. A bit hidden so you are not smack in the middle of the city noise. The hotel always smelled great and during the afternoon there were little tea cakes and tea which i thought was also very nice. The staff was very helpful and professional. 24/7 receptionist. I would definitely stay there again. Perfect experience for my first time in Barcelona.

Recommend the rooms with a terrace - no view but nice to have the extra space and to sit outside with a drink at night. Really close to a main underground station - we arrived from the airport by local transport and found it to be very straight forward. No faults whatsoever. Would stay here again!

- Jennifer (10/5): Luxury Stay - I stayed at this hotel for a week with the mother. The staff was very friendly and housekeeping was excellent. We shared the bed and it was very comfortable. The shower was my moms favorite. The water pressure excellent and the water got warm fast. In the summer the roof would be perfect but we went in December. The hotel is also close to two subway lines which are 15 minutes from the center. Very easy travel.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Feel metal springs in bed, rotting bathroom floor - The most uncomfortable bed I've slept on in years, you can feel the springs poking you. Would have cancelled after one night had I could. Also, the laminate wood floor is coming apart and rotting in the bathroom area. In need of serious updates, especially to the mattresses. If you don't like feeling metal springs when you sleep I honestly can't recommend this hotel.

Bed was comfortable and pillows and sheets were soft and luxurious - I'm a light sleeper but fell asleep instantly. Staff are friendly, helpful and chilled out. Breakfast is quite minimalist but made to a high standard - perhaps worth getting this for one or two days. Definitely a solid 4* hotel - we were in a corner room which was sound-insulated... the other rooms faced a central atrium. So if you are noise sensitive add on the booking that you'd prefer a corner room as this was perfect for us. Many thanks to the excellent staff!
