Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (2/5): Cold, dark, with poor shower - We stayed in the family room. The bedding was spartan with some old blankets and thin bottom sheets. The shower didn't really produce hot water. There were no windows in the rooms, so they were quite dark and bone-chilling cold in December. We tried the home-cooked meal the first night and it was the worst food we had during our 3-week trip -- it tasted like it was made from a mix. This was definitely the worst place we stayed in India.
- MYRA (10/5): Lovely family home. - Great place and lovely hosts! Rajiv & Cimmie could not be more welcoming and helpful.
- Daniela (10/5): Awesome Hospitality - We arrived very late to this hotel due to delayed trains, regardless of the time we were welcomed and had great service from the hotel staff. This is a home stay, which mean the stay is very unique not many guests and you get to share with the home owners. Breakfast is included and it is great! eggs and toast with tea or coffee is a great way to start your day. Next, they help you plan your day free of charge, they advise you of the routes to take and places to visit in case you need the help. The hospitality is out of this world, they are fluent in english and are just great! I loved my stay and i wish i could have spent more days in Agra i really recommend this place!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice Guesthouse in Jaipur - Guesthouse in walking distance to the Taj Mahal and some nice restaurants. The guesthouse personnel also organised a taxi/autorikscha to the train station
Cosy rooms, simple bathroom
- David (8/5): Comfortable, friendly home stay near Taj Mahal - Home stay in Agra
Very friendly welcome. Good contact with owners and interesting conversation. Good clean room and facilities. Home cooking by wife was excellent. Location good, 10 minutes run in to Taj Mahal west gate entrance with a Tuk Tuk.
- Alice (8/5): Incredibly friendly - We arrived at 4am having had our train delayed by 6 hours and the staff couldn't do more to help even at that time. The rooms were basic, had everything you need but the helpfulness of the staff made our stay fantastic. Thankyou!
- Sarah (8/5): Genuine Home Stay Experience - This is a genuine home stay. You are staying in the home of a lovely family. We were checking in by a young guy who was very nice and down to earth. His Mum then made us a delicious dinner. The dinner was very yummy and catered to my inability to eat very spicy food. We had this paneer biryani that was delicious. They also made check out a breeze so that we could be on our way very quickly.
They are in a good location if you want to see the Agra fort and the Taj Mahal.
- Jan (2/5): Very rude staff, disappointing stay..Terrible!!! - Charged for deluxe room, provided very basic standard room. Will definitely not stay here again.
- Peter (4/5): Nice Host...but - This was our first homestay in India and we were disappointed. The people who ran the place were very nice and made you feel welcome. The room is very, very basic. The shower does not exist. it is but a trickle of water that comes out and it is only tepid. There is an iron lean to on the first floor and all night you get monkeys jumping onto it and it keeps you awake. Solution is that they should remove the lean to as it serves no useful purpose. The breakfast was very mediocre. It is out of the way and if you don't have your own transport, you will need to use a taxi to go anywhere.
- Gianni (6/5): An ok stay - The home stay it's fine and with a cosy atmosphere. The owner will give you plenty of useful tips to plan your days.
Rooms are overall ok, but nothing amazing.
Regarding shower and hot water I suggest you not to leave it for too late in the evening.
Regarding food and beverages, the lady cooks every evening lovely dishes...but still, it's quite expensive considering that is vegetarian, that they make up the menu and that you have to eat when it's decided to cook
- Nicholas (10/5): Cozy and welcoming atmosphere - We stayed here last week for one night while in Agra. We arranged for a driver to pick us up from the train station. He was punctual and courteous. The owner Kunal and his family were lovely. Each night has a free breakfast. We also opted to have dinner that evening. You pay extra for it, but a fair price for the quality. My husband and I still say it was one of the top meals we had in India. Our room was clean and quite spacious. It's not within walking distance to the Taj or other attractions, but not a far drive and in an adorable neighborhood. Plus, the room was so inexpensive! We would stay here again!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Poor facilities - No look in bathroom. Price is high compare to hotel.
Switchoff the main switch of AC in mid night to make the guest fool
- Peter (6/5): Some good things but not enough to return. - The good thing was the family dinner home cooking aspect of the home stay and willingness to help. BUT the rooms were very cold and no heat available and the showers, once they heated up, were without pressure. I tried to have them solve the heat problem but both of the portable heaters did not have plugs - which surprised me since they have been in the business a long time. It took quite a while to gt this done.My friends did not think the laundry came back very clean. I usually am very happy to recommend good accommodations but not in this case.
- Ashley (6/5): Got moved to another hotel - I wish I could say something about Sai Home Stay itself. Unfortunately, they somehow lost our reservation. When we called from our train to arrange a pickup, they couldn't find our reservation and had no room for us. This was incredibly disappointing. However, Rajiv was very nice to us. He booked us in another hotel he runs, arranged for a pickup (the driver was very friendly and ended up being our driver for the next day), and was on hand (via phone) whenever we needed help. (Note: I put 3 for most of the ratings, since "n/a" wasn't available.)
- Gr8teful (10/5): Nice Family - Great family home stay. Good Food. Lots of personal service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Gret and east escape in Agra - An unbelievably nice couple runs this b&b with the help of their sons. After traveling a month in India we wanted a homely experience to see the Taj in amidst the touristy hype of Agra. We definitely felt at home here. Home cooked food was delicious. They helped coordinate our tuk-tuk rides and taxis.....and made our one-night stay easy. The power went out for about an hour (typical for India) and they were incredibly accommodating and had a generator with wi-fi/room lights working. Would definitely recommend. Note - in gated community.
- ibs (8/5): Great Hospitality - The Service was definitely excellent. The owner bought food on our behalf from outside when it was quite late at night and gave us a tour book during our stay. He advised us on a manageable itinerary during our stay and helped bargain with our taxi driver. The location is beyond walking distance to the Taj Mahal, especially in the hot weather but only 5-10mins in a taxi. The breakfast tasted nice and we had it in our room. Rooms were clean but shower could do with renovating as the sink was wobbly and there was no fan in the toilet so it was hot in there. The TV had no reception so it was not watchable. Definitely worth staying for the price and high level of hospitality which overlooks everything else.
- Helena (8/5): Great price -Friendly Family - The family that run the home-stay are very friendly and nothing seems to much for them. They gave us great advice on the local sights/ markets etc. The food was good too - a reasonably large menu with international options and quite cheap. We had lunch dinner and breakfast here and it was all excellent (especially the dinner). We were upgraded on arrival to a family suite which was very spacious, clean and tidy. The only downside to this place is that it is a little further out from most of the other hotels in Agra. I'd say it was worth it though.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not Like the Taj - From a positive point of view we would say an effort was made to please. It was not always fulfilled. There was an offer for free pickup and breakfast provided. We were not pleased for reasons such as; our bed was not changed when we arrived and checked that night. Even the pillowcases were dirty and appeared slept on. The room cleaning was great in the middle of the room but don't look into the corners. We stayed for five days but received no house keeping in that time. Breakfast was ok but there was an extra charge for the second cup of coffee or tea. We found the place in a very noisy location with much dog barking, horns honking, construction noise and people shouting. The location is far from any attraction. We had also over paid the host but were able to retrieve less than half of the over paid amount.
- Matt (8/5): A warm and inviting place - I stayed here for 3 days and had a very nice experience. Sai Home Stay is located in a neighborhood so you get a really different view of Indian life. The owner and his wife are very warm and inviting. They know all the places that you will want to visit including some that are off the beaten path. Other pluses are great food, a good beer selection and a rooftop dining area.
