- luked968 (6/5): Good food quality, but frustrating tiered restrictions and pool policies hold it back. - I recently stayed at Sandos Cancun, and while there were definitely some highlights, my experience was ultimately impacted by the resort's heavy focus on their VIP tiers and a lack of space. The Positives: First, I want to praise the culinary team. The quality of the food at Sandos Cancun is actually quite good. When you do sit down to eat, the individual dishes are lovely, well-plated, and taste great. You don’t get that mass-produced "cafeteria" feel that plagues a lot of other all-inclusives. The Frustrations: However, the execution of the "All-Inclusive" concept here leaves a lot to be desired for standard guests. If you are booking the standard package, you need to be aware of the following: • The Tiered Wristband System: The resort heavily prioritizes its "Gold" and "Royal Elite" timeshare members. The most frustrating example of this is breakfast. St. Trop, the beautiful beachfront restaurant, is strictly reserved for these VIP wristbands in the mornings. If you are a standard guest, you are not allowed to eat breakfast by the ocean and are forced to go to the indoor Zango buffet instead. It feels incredibly alienating to be locked out of the best morning views on your tropical vacation. • Menu Fatigue: Because this is a smaller, boutique-style property, there are only a handful of restaurants. While the quality is high, the overall variety is lacking. If you are staying for more than a few days, you will quickly experience menu fatigue. • The Crack-of-Dawn Towel Game: The pool deck space is simply too small for the number of guests. To make matters worse, the "towel game" here is out of control. Guests wake up at the crack of dawn to throw towels on the limited number of sunbeds, disappearing for hours. The staff does absolutely nothing to enforce any kind of unattended towel policy, making it incredibly stressful to find a place to sit if you just want to relax by the pool after 8:00 AM. Bottom Line: If you are buying into their Royal Elite program, you will likely have a fantastic, pampered time. But if you are booking a standard vacation package, be prepared to feel like a second-class citizen when it comes to the prime amenities and restaurant access.

Although we had to reserve the bali bed early every morning, the waiter Fausto was very keen provide us with refreshments all the time at the beach. We ate at all 4 restaurants in the hotel. At 'Seasons Restaurant' had great service from Pedro. At 'Zango Restaurant' the service from German was excellent. Biig thank you to tte rest of the staff too. We had lots of dinners at Frattini Restaurant. There were a lot of good shaws. I was impressed by the size of the gym. Room was spacious and bed comfortable.
- Ezina (10/5): Very good, friendly staff - Overall very good, as others have said hotel Is tired but clean. And the staff very friendly. Check in: very quick and easy, check out also. Concierge kept or luggage for us as we weren’t leaving till 4.30pm and checkout was 12 midday. We were still able to use the facilities and eat lunch. We were able to use the spa to shower and get changed. Room was very big and we had a good view over the swimming pool and sea. Our only thing was needed refining, it was tired looking. But cleaned everyday and mini bar was replenished daily. Food was generally good. Breakfast was our favourite. Excepts of choice and you can ask for fresh omelettes or eggs if you wanted. Lunch we had the buffet at zango as it was far better than the beach bar. We went tot the beach bar once and it was awful and the waitress was so miserable. Didn’t try the pizza’s but they looked good. Regarding sunbeds yes you need to get up at early to put your towels on which is a big hate for me. I don’t go on holiday to get up early. We are beach people though and there were always loads available on the beach. The pool could do with more umbrellas too as it’s very hot. Pool was lovely and warm. We did have a bit of Sargassum but it didn’t affect us going in the sea although just as we were leaving there seemed to be an influx of it. Special mention to German in Zandos Pedro in Seasons Fausto (beach waiter) All very good especially Fausto on the beach. Kept us topped up on drinks and was alway so happy. Entertainment was very good as far as the shows were concerned, the dj after got a bit repetitive. Our favourite restaurant was Fratinis, food choice was so much better than the others. The waiters were a bit hit and miss though. We would get our food and hadn’t been served our drinks but it was a minor thing. Overall we had a really good time here and very relaxing which is what we needed. Thank you Sandos Cancun.

Food was okay. Really liked the hibachi restaurant, definitely recommend making a reservation for this during your stay. Pools were nice and clean. Some things seemed like they needed repair. The food could improve. Wish they removed seaweed from beach daily like neighboring resorts.

Were here now in room 724 and can't wait to go home very poor resort we'll never come back this place is way over rated

- B5874LSheathert (8/5): Enjoyed our stay. - We came here because the resort we normally visited closed, and we were looking for a suitable replacement "home away from home." We think we found it here. The rooms are a bit dated, but everything works. The AC works. There is a minifridge that is restocked daily. The balcony is a bit small, but still enjoyable for watching the sunrise/sunset. There is an espresso machine in the room, however, ours was hit or miss if it worked. When it did, it was super loud. Food was decent. Not the best. Buffet is small but tasted good except the hamburgers. They are really thick PVT burgers with an odd taste to them. Other than that, everything was really good. The Italian restaurant was good, although the food was warm. Not hot. Seasons was really good, and if you are there for an event (birthday, anniversary, etc) they have mixologists that will put on a show for you with dinner. St. Trop is their poolside restaurant. The wings are one of the best menu items they have. But it is only a snack and not a meal. So if you are an American and used to having wings as an entree, you have to order 3-4 plates, which they will gladly do. They do make their own pizza. It was good, but somewhat bland. A little seasoning in the sauce and they would be fantastic. But hands down, Gaijin was the best restaurant on site. It is their Japanese/hibachi restaurant. It is the only one that needed a reservation and was worth it. It is a must-visit. The only complaint with the food that I had was that if you are an early riser like myself, getting coffee in the morning was a chore. Room service before 7 was hit or miss. There is supposed to be a coffee bar that opens at 6, but it wasn't always open on time. Between the hamburgers and the difficulty getting coffee before 7, that is my only food complaint. Everything else was decent. The bars a bit of a disappointment. They close early. The only bar that stays open past 10 pm is the lobby bar, which closes at midnight. The 6th floor bar has no bathroom so if you have to go (which you will inevitably do when drinking) you have to go back to your room or down to the first floor. The outdoor bar was rather inconvenient. It is a distance from the pool. If you want to take a break and sit at the bar and chill, you have to walk around the corner. There is a bar in the restaurant that is right next to the pool, but you can't sit and chat there. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be back. We loved Alfonso and Carlos at the bar. We also loved Rogello the mixologist. We hope to see them again when we return.

- skolb1123 (6/5): Overall he had a good time, but there are flaws. - Seasoned traveler; been to Mexico over 40 times, and lived in Mexico City for two years. We are just returning from Sandos Cancun, having been to Sandos Playacar last summer, and becoming Royal Elite members. Here is what to expect: Location: Very nice location, not too far from the airport, in the hotel zone. Nice beach, but as all the other beaches do, lots of seaweed. They do a remarkable job cleaning it up every day, but it is still there, accumulating continuously, making swimming less pleasant than it should be. The water color is superb. Pool/Atmosphere: Pretty loud and vibrant all day every day, but a decent party atmosphere. They had a great Cuban band one day. 3 levels of pools, a bit dated, but certainly passable. Stretching and water aerobics classes daily, run very well by Karla. There are other pool activities/games, and beach volleyball as well. Royal Elite members enjoy reserved front row seating both at the end of the last pool before the beach in cabanas, and on the beach itself, also in cabanas. There is also a pool restaurant, "The Trop" that serves lunch, to everyone. It also serves breakfast only for Royal Elite members, a la carte, instead of buffet. There is no swim up bar anywhere :-( . Service: The service was impeccable; the pool is well staffed for getting drinks/food, and the restaurants, while more thinly staffed, provide great service as well at dinner, though it takes a little longer sometimes, which didn't really bother me. Shoutout to Silvio and Guarneros in the Trop, Christian behind the bar there, Carlos in Bar 6, and Lorenzo in Seasons. Food: I have seen some reviews that bash the food here. I for one thought it was very good; a little something for everyone. People tend to dislike buffets, but I thought this one was solid if not great, although I only used it for lunch. Soups, breads, salads, fruit, typical Mexican fare, and desserts. The different themed restaurants, Tepanyaki, Italian, Steak (Seasons) all had good offerings. My only complaint about the food is..... no tacos (except for fish tacos....eww). How can a Mexican resort not offer a full array of tacos???? Rooms: Definitely a bit dated, but certainly still serviceable. On the small side, but we had a very comfy king bed, and a balcony view of the Caribbean....how bad could it be? AC worked fine, and was adjustable, bathroom was big enough, separate room for the toilet, reasonable shower. The maid service was very good, everything always cleaned up nicely. Mini-bar well stocked. Cleanliness/Grounds: The hotel was immaculate, as were the rooms. Not much in the way of foliage, but the grounds were always clean and well kept. One thing to note, there ARE smoking areas, even though the hotel prides itself on being a "non-smoking" hotel. That is because they don't allow people to smoke in their rooms or on their balconies. But this is negated by smoking areas outside and at the pool. Noise: Noise was a problem. A pretty loud atmosphere at the pool all day, which was tolerable for us since we were down a level at the end in the Royal Elite section. Rude people that drag their chairs along the floor at night and partiers that run around screaming in the hallways after midnight when they are coming home are no fault of the hotel. If you want serenity at night this may not be the place for you. Our expectation of this being a quieter resort since it is adults only was off the mark. All in all, we had a nice time, but we will utilize other Sandos resorts before coming back to this one.

- G6375YCmaryt (4/5): Not a 5 star resort - very budget - The fact that this resort is listed as 5 star luxury is actually incredibly misleading to travellers and should be listed as a 3.5 star at best. As someone who has stayed a true 5 star luxury resort, if I had spent any more money to be here, I’d be outraged instead of just disappointed. The staff is overall very nice and friendly. I can’t say much bad about the actual staff, although there were a few minor things we were not happy with in regard to the staff. The building itself is not in good condition. None of the elevators work properly, missing buttons even. The rooms are so outdated, not overly clean and in poor, run down condition. Rust all over the place, black mould in the bathroom and some sort of mould in the AC unit that we are positive has caused us to be incredibly sick. The wood is rotting on the door frames, and you could see various repairs on the main room door. The TV did not actually have internet access if you wanted to stream your own apps (which would have been great since I spent an entire day very ill in the room). The pool has missing tiles and is run down, the AC is dripping water in the main lobby bar with a towel on the floor for it, giving it a very ghetto vibe. A-lot of the furniture is very worn and abused. The food and drinks are the worse we have ever had with a few exceptions. The fish tacos at St Trop and the beef short rib at Frantinis was good. The Asian night at the buffet was straight awful, you could see plate after plate still full being taken away from tables. The food overall was mediocre at best. The buffet hall was always warm, making it uncomfortable to eat. They didn’t consistently replace dishes that ran out so if you don’t go early at the start of service, you’ll miss anything decent. They had an option sometimes to have a chef make a dish of whatever cuisine and you’re expected to tip them…on top of tipping the server. The drinks were pretty terrible. Low grade liquor, no consistency in how they are made, most of the bartenders didn’t know how to make anything except a margarita but wouldn’t tell you they didn’t know so you’d get some weird version of a drink you asked for. The only place that made good drinks was St Trop. The elite membership. This is something that is not clear when you book here. It’s advertised with all the restaurants but if you’re a peasant without elite you can’t have breakfast at St Trop (making the buffet slop the only option) and priority for all the restaurants goes to elite members. They made us wait two hours to get into frantinis and only after one of the other guests complained did they let us in. Then I waited over 20 minutes for a drink, had finished my meal and just left without it. Good luck getting a lounger at the pool. There’s no control over people getting up and holding chairs, even though they aren’t there and there’s not nearly enough loungers for the amount of guests. We only got one on our last day, the worst weather day we had. They told us it was $200USD to rent a cabana (at the concierge) but we didn’t fact check that (typical cost is $50USD so if it really is $200 that is INSANE and if not, then we were lied to try and sit through their sales pitch to be an elite member). The pool parties are okay but definitely not for an older crowd if over sexualized dancers is not your thing. It was also very repetitive, just like their nightclub. Same boring thing with a different lipstick every day and night.

- sahern2021 (2/5): Do not recommend - Overall experience was okay definitely go to the hibachi dinner as often as you can during your stay that was the best experience however we were promised a gift for my wife and I for our special occasion that never came we were offered a sales pitch to experience the black wristband upgrade for the luxury stay and to view the luxury suite with a salesperson that person was horrible did not seem interested to want to sit with us and was not helpful when requesting certain amenities throughout the 90 minutes that we would have to be with them in order to earn a free tour we ended the sales pitch early, he then stood up from the lunch table through his napkin in the chair in anger and walked away then we complained to management in which they did nothing except empty promises and gave me homework to write a complaint while I'm trying to celebrate a special occasion with my family, gave the written complaint back to management in which they again did nothing the next day we decided to sleep in order room service that never arrived after 2 hours... I tried to express my concern about our room service not arriving to the same management person and he cut me off and said "JUST RELAX AND ENJOY" which I perceived him saying to me "just shut up" right or wrong that's how it made me feel... the buffet staff more often than not would ignore us when we sat down and would never want to refill our drinks... Then every time we went to try to relax by the Surfside you lay down try to take a nap enjoy the Sun get a tan every 5 or 10 minutes you have some random person yelling trying to sell you merchandise over and over again which was very annoying and frustrating... and unfortunately I can't place the blame on the resort, however there was so much seaweed we were almost unable to enjoy being in the water or trying to have a romantic walk Surfside, long story short I would not recommend to anyone.
- Q1115JBmichaelc (10/5): Great Father Son getaway! - My Dad and I just got back from a guys getaway, we both had a wonderful time at Sandos Cancun. A special shout out to a few people that made our trip memorable, Montse and Georgina they both work at the Royal Elite office and made all our request happen. They also never got tired of answering all our questions that we had during our stay. I also want to mention Carlos the outstanding bar tender at the bar on the sixth floor near our room, he showed me a few more ways to pour a beer and had excellent people skills and was easy to talk to about our day. One small negative please fix the ceiling above the lighted floor at the bar. The service was outstanding from the pool to the restaurants and the entertainment was very creative and cool from the masquerade ball to the Elvis impersonator they all were very entertaining. So Thank you for a great Father Son vacation, see ya next time.

- mikefM4198JB (6/5): Burn like bacon without umbrellas - it is not easy to write a review for this place. The food is great, the staff is great, the animation is also great. The animation team is making huge efforts to make it fun. They work really hard. The biggest problem that will prevent me to go again. There is not enough Umbrellas at the pool. There is room for about 20 umbrellas but there is only 6 or 7. The only way to have one is to get up at 5 in the morning witch is ridiculous when you are on vacation.. They have some fancy beds that you need to rent for $150. At the beach they have ZERO Umbrellas but many chairs. It is a perfect recipe to get severe sunburn. We had to go to Walmart to buy Umbrellas. It is really unacceptable considering we go to Mexico to spend time outdoor. All other hotels around have umbrellas on the beach.
- BordercrosserAlberta (10/5): Experience with my husband - We loved our couple getaway to Sandos! The location was very close to the airport in order to enjoy the hours you have. The beach area is clean and beautiful- feet from the resort. The atmosphere is great for keeping busy. There was always something to watch or entertain you. The staff were amazing at getting people involved in activities such as water fitness, games, and always asking if they could go the extra mile! The rooms were spacious and our bed was comfy. You could either get a room with a very large window to open that allowed the breeze in from the ocean or a balcony. I felt that the value was great. Food options were great. The Italian restaurant and staff at the pool restaurant were top notch. They have a pizza hut by the pool for amazing pizza you would have to try! Noise during the day is not an annoyance it's alive and we really liked the abundance of different musicians. Shout out to Jacob (believe this is his name) at Bar 1. Made great recommendations and put the extra touches on Hurricanes and Mai Tais. I certainly enjoyed his amazing expressos and coffee choices in the morning! Shout out to Paula and Juan (check him out in my champagne pool photo) along with Karla and the entertainment crew! What an outstanding bunch of people. The DJs were top notch. I do not know how these people go and go with their smiles, energy and positive attitudes! Oh the laughs! Some notes: book on the QR in your room for the best restaurant times but waiting is like 10-15 min if you dont. On here you will also get the list of activities that day so so many! We enjoyed a mascarade dinner and show- again WOW!! Oh, and we had Wendy as housekeeping she was the best when we slept in she was gracious and once we left our room was always done immaculant. She organized our room as if we had a butler service ❤️ we commonly stay top star resorts and she cleans like one- dont lose her!! The room service I recommend trying "all hours" mimosas, breakfast in bed and the best club sandwiches. PLEASE bring tips because the level of service should be rewarded. My husband and I will return either for a quick long weekend or an extended stay like we did in Feb/March. Gym- top notch Band- unbelievable (even had a band for karaoke night- makes you feel like a rock star!) Spa- great arrangement of services ** Sandos has it figured out with their wrist bands no more key cards- Vegas needs to figure that out lol Thanks to Sandos for an amazing trip ❤️

Staff accomdated us by taking reservations at each of their amazing on site restaurants to ensure our group could hang out together. The service was amazing. The food was amazing. The drinks were amazing. Loved the pools. Especially loved the masquearde dinner. And entertainment. The musicians were incredible! Thanks so much to our beach server Daniel, our buffet server "Nacho" and all the hosts, servers and cleaning staff. I would definitely recommend this resort. Its close to the airport and downtown shopping. Excellent location.

- HXNBasshead (8/5): Very good, but not quite great - I stayed here for a week in February of 2026. Overall, it’s a great hotel, but there a few things that prevent me from giving it a perfect score. If they take care of some maintenance issues and maybe add some entertainment later in the evenings, they could get a perfect score. I stayed in room 417, a deluxe 1 king bed room with a balcony. Pros: The food - The food was amazing. Even though they have several à la carte restaurants, I only ate at the buffet every night, except for once when I ate at the Teppanyaki Restaurant (the food was good, but the chef didn’t put on much of a show; one of the other tables seemed to get a much livelier show). The buffet was incredible. They had a different theme every night and the selection was so varied, there was something for everyone. Breakfast and lunch were no different in terms of the selection, just no changing theme for breakfast or lunch. The taste and quality of the food was truly outstanding. Everything I ate (and I tried almost everything) was so good. The service was also very good, something you don’t often get at buffets. The staff - All the encounters I had with the staff were fantastic. They all genuinely seemed to want to make your experience as good as possible. Free m the staff at the buffet that were very friendly and attentive, always asking if you wanted anything else to drink, to the front desk staff, the housekeeping staff, and the bell staff. Everyone was always smiling and very friendly. There was never any worry about a language barrier, as they all spoke excellent English (more than I can say about my attempt at Spanish lol). The room - I had a deluxe 1 king bed with a balcony (highly recommended). The hotel runs in an East-West direction, and my room was on the South side of the hotel. I had a great view of the pool are and the ocean from my balcony. I’d much prefer this side of the hotel as opposed to the other side. The other side would also give you a view of the ocean, but also of the hotel directly next door (currently closed). The room was quite large, with a large bathroom that had a separate tub and shower. The shower was a good size (could probably fit 3 people at once; Walk With Me Tim fans will understand. lol), and water pressure and temperature was excellent. The stocked mini bar (included at no extra cost) was reasonably well stocked with beer, water and soda. The bed was a bit firm for my liking, but still perfectly comfortable. Location - The hotel is located pretty much in the middle of the hotel zone and right on the beach. There are lots of shops within walking distance, with a pharmacy and convenience store directly across the street, the public bus stop less than a 5 minute walk away, and the La Isla Shopping Centre about a 30 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride away. WiFi- The free WiFi was fast (forgot to do a speed test, so I don’t know the actual speed) and had great signal strength everywhere throughout the hotel and even on to the beach. It was more than fast enough for streaming YouTube/Netflix/Prime Video. The cons: Maintenance - The hotel needs a bit of maintenance, starting with the elevators. There are 3 public elevators, but only one of them was fully functional. One was out of service (I suspect it was awaiting modernization), one worked perfectly, and the third had a few issues (doors were extremely slow, and the button for the fourth floor didn’t work; really annoying considering my room was on the fourth floor ). The third night I was there, one of the two working elevators went down (thankfully it was the one with the slow doors and the fourth floor button that didn’t work), leaving just one elevator to service all eight floors. The next night, the other elevator went down as well, leaving guests with the option of taking the stairs (not easy to find) or using the service elevator. One elevator was fixed by the next day, but the other elevator remained out of service until my second to last night (they fixed the fourth floor button at the same time, thankfully). The furniture in the room was showing signs of wear and tear. Nothing that affected the usability of it, just the appearance. The last maintenance item I noticed was the balconies. Several of the balconies had pieces of concrete missing around the edges and exposed rebar. Of all the maintenance items, this is one that should be addressed the soonest. Missing concrete and exposed rebar is never a good thing, and even though it’s not structural in this case, is something that needs to be addressed with some urgency before it becomes a structural issue. Entertainment - The entertainment is perhaps a bit lacking. They do have a pool party with live DJ every afternoon, but the evening entertainment is somewhat lacking. One night they had a tribute to Shakira ( I enjoyed the show more than I thought I would), one night they had a dinner theatre (limited spots, so make your reservation as soon as you can), and another night they had live music in the main bar in the lobby. Other than that, there was no evening entertainment that I noticed. The tv in the room was ok (a good size at 55”), but the smart functionally didn’t work, so no steaming anything to the tv. Probably not a big deal for most people, but I like to stream YouTube/Netflix/Prime Video at night before bed. Naturally, there was limited English programming on the tv, but the did have a channel dedicated to Just for Laughs Gags and Fail Army, which was perfectly good for the limited amount of time I spent in watching tv. Overall, i would stay here again. None of the cons are major enough for me to not want to stay here again. That said, there are probably other hotels in the same price range that I would be worth looking at.

The hotel staff were very accommodating to all our needs. Check in amd iut was seamless, We were able to upgrade our room and get a late check out. Carlos guest services manager was outstanding at making us feel welcome and cared for. The hotel is a small hotel with 5 restaurants to choose from. All of them have great options and the service staff were always willing to please. Fausto was an amazing server for breakfast and out on poolside/beach area. He worked very hard to ensure all guests were taken care of. Francy at Bar One was the best bartender making a delicious golden margarita. The entertainment both poolside, night club, and bar one were very entertaining and the performers never stopped. New Years eve was over the top with fun. The resort pulled out all the stops. 5 course meal, music and dancers, throughout, saxophone and violinist, fire dancers, electric guitar rock and roll, fireworks on the beach. It was the best new years celebration our entire party has ever experienced. Hats off the Paula amd Alex the Entertainment coordinator/managers.

On the second day, we were robbed of our money and clothes. After reporting this to the reception, no one did anything about it and they treated us like intruders. After this incident, our room wasn't cleaned and we had to beg for clean towels and toilet paper. It's the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Avoid it.

Paid $1,000.00 less to go to RIU Penninsula Palace and it was 1000 times better! The room was disgusting and dirty. And to add insult to injury....you had to pay extra to sit in certain chairs or eat at certain restaurants. It is not all inclusive unless your an elite member at this below standard hotel. Hot tub did not work. Room should have not been rented out in the state it was in. Paid extra for a view and looked at a dirty building across the way. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!

- Szymon_1985 (2/5): Not a 5-star resort, avoid!! - This is definitely not a 5-star resort. We spent one week here, and the condition of the room left a lot to be desired for a property that claims this standard. The bathroom was in particularly poor shape—the tiles were literally disintegrating. The balcony door didn’t close properly, meaning the room was not soundproof at all. The noise was constant and extremely disruptive, mainly coming from a large air-conditioning or extractor unit from a neighbouring property (much bigger than Sandos), which runs continuously and is very loud. Because of this, it’s impossible to properly enjoy the pool area. The noise is always there—whether you’re by the pool, walking through the resort, or even passing by on the beach. The location itself is great, but we deeply regret not choosing one of the neighbouring hotels instead. Prices were very similar, yet those properties appeared to be in much better condition and offered noticeably better service. Unfortunately, the photos used by the hotel and tour operators are clearly outdated. It feels like a marketing trick to make people book, and sadly my partner and I fell for it. The food was genuinely good—I’ll give credit where it’s due—but that would likely be the case at the hotel next door as well. Overall, it’s a big, definite no from both of us. This is simply not a 5-star resort. To make matters worse, during our stay there was renovation work going on. Pool tiling was being redone in the evenings, involving loud noise while old tiles were being removed. There was also other building work around the property. Service was disappointing too. On one occasion, I waited around 20 minutes for a beach towel, which was never replenished. Asking reception for help didn’t resolve the issue either. Absolute no from us. Thanks for ruining our Caribbean holiday!

First time it was a surprise gift for my birthday and the second time was a couple of days for Christmas. If you want fun, the activities at the pool are excellent and very entertaining. If you want relaxation the beach is absolutely stunning. Our friend Ariel Montoya Rodríguez and the entertainment team made our stay very fun indeed. Everybody in the hotel is very friendly and ready to help all the time. The general manager is always around making sure everything runs smoothly. Nights of dancing and shows, parties at the pool and the food and drinks are excellent. Will return for sure.

We returned for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and the experience exceeded expectations once again. The room was comfortable and well maintained, the amenities were excellent, and the entertainment added a great holiday atmosphere (see photos). The food was high quality, and the service throughout the stay was attentive and professional. A truly enjoyable and memorable visit. I highly recommend this hotel.

- lamahb88 (2/5): UNINHABITABLE & DANGEROUS CONDITIONS - This has been one of the most disturbing hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Our room filled with a strong rotten egg / sewage smell coming directly from the shower and plumbing. This is not a mild odor — it’s overpowering, nauseating, and completely unacceptable in a place meant for rest and safety. Management’s response was shockingly careless. Instead of fixing the underlying problem, they simply offered to move us to another room — and then admitted they would move another unsuspecting couple into our contaminated room without resolving the issue. That is reckless and unethical. This is clearly a known plumbing or water system problem, not a one-off issue. A hotel in Cancun charging premium rates should never expose guests to sewage gas and then pass the problem along to the next guest like it’s normal. This is not a room issue — it’s a property-wide maintenance failure. We are on vacation, not volunteering to sleep in a health hazard. The fact that this hotel considers room swapping a “solution” instead of repairing the system tells me everything I need to know about their standards. If you value your health, comfort, or basic hygiene, DO NOT STAY HERE. The smell alone ruins the experience, and the management’s indifference makes it worse. This should be investigated and addressed immediately — not hidden by shuffling guests around as its not just our room!!!

- tschirhart2 (2/5): Not what we were expecting one star only - The food was luke warm at best in all the restaurants, on three different mornings had to pour my own coffee, had a beautiful top floor room with Huge balcony that the doors were hard open, and could lock them, the general manager stayed on the same floor rode the elevator with several times never once ask if I was enjoying myself , It is obvious, that he was more concerned about entertainment then guest, both the Italian and the steak restaurant offered steak at a price of 40 dollars or more and the same for lobster too, rui gives both for free, Karla the entertainment team would make sure you gave her good reviews, even though she was not the entertainment, over all this hotel is ran very poorly from top to bottom, My wife and I have stayed in cancun and playa over 35 times in 24 different hotels and this one was the worst one ever. I don't recommend it book any where else.

- delan007 (10/5): LONG, but thorough review, November 2025! - Okay this is going to be a long review of Sandos Cancun. In short, this stay was beyond what I expected! I got the suggestion from a coworker to stay here. After researching and tracking prices for a month, I decided it was the one! Staff 10/10 - Discussing this first as this was what MADE our trip so great. All staff were friendly, helpful, and respectful. We definitely had some standouts though. Daniel, Karla, Juan, and Paula were AMAZING performers and party hypers. Their energy and friendliness was unmatched. The biggest standout for me was Papacito Lopez, haha! He's a server at a few of the restaurants, but MAN the first night the guy got us drunk as heck introducing us to Centenario Tequila. I DO NOT drink tequila as I hate the taste, but this stuff is smooth, and I wasn't saying no to the boys! We saw Papacito Lopez a few more times, twice at the Italian restaurant, Frattini's. He put on an AMAZING fire show for dessert both times. One was with the tiramisu, and the other was a non-menu Mexican Coffee dessert which was to DIE for. He played jokes pretending to spill soup on the guys with an empty bowl both visits that actually startled them, LOL! The guy is a pure GEM and an amazing person who we tipped the heck out of all 3 times as he really earned it. SANDOS PLEASE TAKE CARE OF AND RETAIN THESE PEOPLE! Our daily schedule basically went like this for 8 days: 9am Gym (No thanks, I slept until 930am LOL) 10am Breakfast Buffet @ Zango 11am Ocean Swim 1pm Pool Party 3pm Lunch @ St. Trop 430pm Ocean until dark 7pm Dinner at Seasons/Frattini's/Gaijin, sometimes buffet after! :P 10pm Night Party/Performance Restaurants - 9/10 - Shirt, shorts, and sandals okay at each restaurant. Only asked to dry off at St. Trop as it was poolside, but was no problem after doing so. Best part about the restaurants, is they're all walk-in except Gaijin! Make sure you book Gaijin right away because our group of 5 had to wait 3 days and the hotel wasn't full, but we got in 2 nights in a row! Not all restaurants are open everyday, or have varying schedules, so plan way ahead! Every restaurant asks about allergies too, which is nice as it takes the pressure off people that require adjustments often. Our single biggest concern before booking our trip was eating good tasting food; the selection, quality, and availability was WAY beyond what we expected for what the trip cost! These ratings are based on my experiences on how good the restaurants were for an all-inclusive resort, not just as independent restaurants. I'll post pictures of the menu's so you have an idea of the food variety in case you have restrictions, but they may not be current as Seasons was different, for example. Seasons - International - 8.5/10 - Dinner only everyday - Very tasty dishes, some fine dining sizes. Maybe 1 or 2 I didn't like, but it was just my tastes as my other guys did like them. Beef Tartare was AWESOME and not something I've ever had, and the steak was good to satisfy the craving, not an amazing top-notch steak, but lean and very edible meat, cooked correctly at medium-rare. Zango - Buffet - 9/10 - All meals every day, closed 11am-1230pm and 4pm-6pm for meal prep; sometimes they change as the Thursday after we left was only dinner for Mexican Night. The hostess knew us pretty quick and sat us down every time except one day at the "VIP" (LOL) table we preferred without even asking. They're super friendly, and helpful too. The buffet had a great variety of food at each meal time and changed day to day. It wasn't too big for them to keep up with either as the food was always warm and fresh. Some very tasty stuff here for sure and top notch for an all-inclusive. The vanilla custard cake was to DIE for, I wish they had it again after the 1 time I got it. You can even ask for made to order eggs or omelette at breakfast! St. Trop - Poolside Variety - 9/10 - Breakfast/Lunch only everyday. I was SHOCKED at how good the wood fired pizzas were; YES, WOOD FIRED! The classic pepperoni was good, but the seafood HIT with the shrimp on it. I'm not a Mediterranean or Hawaiian pizza guy, but even those were tasty! The Squid Romaine was a staple each day, the Sandos Burger was surprisingly AWESOME I wish I got more than once, and the nachos were very good. I DO NOT recommend the Tres Leches cake, but maybe it's because I don't like it. I've never tried it anywhere else, so I'm not sure if it's not for me or it was low quality. HOWEVER, the Lemon Carlotta was very good, which I also had never tried before! They got our drinks wrong on checkout day once. Frattini's - Italian - 10/10 - Dinner only, but opening days vary as they were closed 3 days for us, but I saw only 1 the week after we left. Hands down my favorite restaurant! The potato Gnocchi was to DIE for! I had it 3 times on 2 occasions, haha! The Shrimp risotto was VERY delicious, the tomato cream soup was very tasty, and the Raviolis were VERY good. I'm not big on Tiramisu, but Papacito Lopez recommended it and put on an AMAZING fire show for us! The second time we went he made a non-menu dessert called Mexican Coffee, again with another AMAZING fire show! Such an experience that was. I'd eat here everyday if I could! Gaijin - Japanese Teppanyaki - 9/10 - We went here twice. There's 4 tables, but not all in use both times. Both cooks put on a good show doing different performances. They also check for allergies or food preferences before cooking. The food for me was AWESOME, but I've only experienced Teppanyaki back home in Vancouver years ago just once, and I can't remember it. But I found everything super tasty. There was a variety of grilled vegetables, a big amount of fried rice, prawns, and fresh cuts of beef/chicken. Bar One - Behind check-in desk - 10/10 - Served some pretty potent drinks! Nice atmosphere, good music, some live performances, even an Elvis dedication night, and a lady who killed the piano! Open late until 1230/1am Bar Two - Poolside bar - 10/10 - VERY potent drinks, these guys are very good! Bar Six - 6th Floor bar - 5/10 - Never went while it was open as I think it closes around dinner time, but they have two huge 85 inch screens for watching sports. We tried to watch Football up there, but the one TV that had the game in English kept buffering as the WIFI sucks up there only, and the other had mostly Spanish channels on Satellite, so that was very annoying. This needs to be fixed so BOTH TV's have Satellite TV in ENGLISH with all the North American sports channels! Any restaurant we went to we had 2-4 servings of food EACH. We definitely got our monies worth, but got to taste a lot of things too. The servers never attempted to cut us off; they were really there to please! Entertainment - 9.5/10 Sandos really shines here, especially because of Daniel, Karla, Juan, and Paula! Those guys really know how to run the pool and events. From the daily activities like pool volleyball to the daily pool parties to the night parties/performances; they are AWESOME! If you look at my daily schedule at the start of this review, you'll see we attended the pool party and night party/performance everyday; yes, they were THAT fun! My guys started the pool parties though as it would start pretty empty then we got out there and got it going with hyping up from the mentioned workers. Once the people joined, then those guys were keeping it going consistently. The pool parties had DJ's each day, but even had live musicians playing over the DJ's songs to match the rhythm, they were killing it out there! The Pool Parties were a variety of Colours (basic colourful party, twice), Violinist, Circus (yes circus acts and dancers), Trumpeter, Latin Explosion (dancing performances), and Electric Guitarist. They really go all out to entertain you! They get tons of long balloons out to wave around and get hype, then get beach balls out to take it up a notch. Let me tell you, EVERYONE joins in bringing even the most shy out of their shell! The night performances were usually at 10pm, and were rocking every time. There was a live singer, Extasis (sexy dancing type female performers), Trance (neon colour), Pura Vida, Exotico (very sexy dancing partner performers), Karaoke, and Live DJ (twice). All the nights were fun, some more than others for sure, but none disappointed; just depends on your mood I guess! I highly recommend attending these parties. The performers do their thing for a while, maybe 30 min. max, then turns into all the guests dancing. It can get pretty fun as one night I was having a dance off with a couple guys, and I don't dance; I guess it was liquid courage, haha! They toss out long balloons there too so I would tie 2 together and put them around couples to get them to really dance centre floor; they were givin'er! Sometimes I became an unpaid worker there, LOL! The day after that party I'd run in to people who were there and would go out of their way to say high to me, it was hilarious. I do believe from watching the DJ's they're not real ones; they're just a bunch of knob twisters that play a premade mix and don't take requests. I even Shazam'd their songs and it came up as a mix, but haven't confirmed the result. There was one DJ at a night party that was real though, and was even scratching during his set. Kind of what you expect from most DJ's these days though. Beach I have a hard time walking on rocky/shelly beaches due to sensitive feet with pointy objects. I wore water shoes the first couple days, but they were a pain to clean. I then went barefoot and I was pleasantly surprise how smooth, soft, and silky the beach and ocean was. I stepped on a few irritating objects, but nothing like I usually experience elsewhere. The beaches were fairly clean with plenty of room. There wasn't a day we weren't able to get a beach chair. This was my first experience in the Caribbean Sea, and man is it beautiful! The waters are crystal clear in and above the water. The ocean was very swimmable except for 1 day near the end of our trip the waves were too violent, and the day before was borderline too much as well. The jet skis and boats stay very far away so there's no risk. The beach is SUPER long and is shared between all the hotels. Police monitor the beach on their ATV's also checking the credentials of sellers to ensure they're legit. The sellers on the beach are very friendly and respect when you're not interested. But always negotiate with them, and be aggressive in your pricing! Pools 9.5/10 The THREE pools were very clean, with plenty of room to move except the bottom one during the pool party as the crowds were huge! It was pretty easy to find a place to sit, and we weren't bothered by staff when we sat in the VIP area when it wasn't busy. The one time it was busy, someone who rented 2 of them politely let us know and we moved while also striking up a conversation. Only knocked half a point because of some of the pool tiles being scratchy on the feet, not sharp though. There's a server that comes around the lower pool to bring drinks, not sure about the 2 upper pools. They were very good at it too, and ensured to keep coming around and pickup empty cups. Gym/Spa/Sports - I didn't use the spa, but did shower there on checkout day. It's a BEAUTIFUL spa, just wasn't something I wanted to do. Toilets were clean there too and privately roomed from each other. The gym is the biggest I've seen at a hotel. It's about the size of any local independently owned gym where I live, but not nearly the size of the bigger chain names. It has about 20+ Life Fitness machines, 2 dumbbell racks, an Olympic bar lifting cage, stretching area, lots of stepping boards, 3 treadmills, and a few ellipticals. I'm probably missing a couple things too. Upstairs from the gym is 2 tennis courts. 1 net was broken, but the other was good. Never got to play though as we were enjoying the ocean too much! Guests 10/10 This, for me, was the most surprising part of our trip. We met a ton of amazing people! Many, like us, from all over Canada, some from USA, and few from Europe. Some Americans were funny thinking we'd throw shade because of the tariff war going on, but I told them that's politics BS, we were all there with the same goal, to have FUN! Then it was all good after that. Many of us partied together, ate together, and/or drank together, and would make a point to say hello in passing everyday. These were people of ALL adult ages too. We made some lifelong friends of all ages that want to meet up there every November, and we plan to do so! My guys were so satisfied we want to repeat that experience forever! Safety 10/10 I'm not an publicly active LGBTQ supporter that's out there actively fighting for them, but I have gay friends and support everyone's right to feel safe and have a great time. We met multiple gay couples while staying here and even partied with them. Both them and us felt safe, and was just like chilling with the boys. It was a great time for all, and no risk to anyone as it was always kept respectful, heck even some of the performers/workers are gay too. And who cares? We're all just people, right? Near the end of the trip I saw some lesbians comfortably on the beach too. I didn't see any other obvious LGBTQ people, but I'd feel pretty confident in their safety at Sandos. I'm mentioning this as it's important for people to know where they'll be safe because even at resorts who support LGBTQ people, that doesn't mean the other guests make them feel safe. Carrying on, at no time did my group feel unsafe at the resort or at risk of losing our belongings. There were no suspicious people roaming around looking to steal anything. Everyone's stuff was respected even when in the open. Even some of the amazing guests we met would keep all our stuff together sometimes; pretty trusting of people you just meet! The police drive up and down the beach on their ATV's and even check credentials of the sellers to ensure they're authorized. There's lifeguards at each resort monitoring the ocean for people who swim too far out and will get whistled back in if that happens. The hotel zone is a very well looked after place. Service 9/10 The front desk is helpful, the late night room service is awesome, the concierge is super helpful, and the housekeeping is very good at what they do! No people to complain about particularly and almost always had my questions answered. The concierge wasn't sure of 2 event locations or times that weren't on the schedule, not their fault though. Room service had very tasty food especially for middle of the night. The menu had a surprisingly great late-night selection; the club sandwich was pretty good, and the hot chocolate was AMAZING! The wait for food took about 45 min. and on a separate night the hot chocolate took 30 min. Everything was hot and fresh though. A great checkout day feature is, although you have to checkout by 12pm or pay hourly to extend, you don't need to! You get a paper pass to access the whole facility until you leave. You can even swim or hit the ocean and have a shower at the spa, which I mentioned I did and was a very nice shower! You can also leave your bags at the front with the bellmen by the concierge no visitor can access, and isn't left unsupervised. I took a point away because of the uncertainty of 2 event locations or times that were not on the schedule, and the long wait for room service for a simple hot chocolate; cooked food I'd understand though. Rooms 8/10 The rooms are a decent size, can't complain. They housekeeping did an awesome job cleaning each day and even organized our things unasked. The fridge has plenty of drinks including some beer, and there was a coffee machine that had some very tasty coffee. The beds were comfortable with some very nice pillows; I slept great the whole trip! There was enough space to leave our luggage on the floor by the chairs for easy access. The bathroom had a very small bathtub only a woman could fit into. The shower was nice and big, loved it! Sinks and toilets were clean and functioned well with plenty of space around. The room safe had plenty of room and was easy to use. We debated using the laundry service, but it was way too expensive as $ per item rather than a load or something. I have no real complaints, but I took points away only because I've stayed in much nicer spacious rooms as similar pricing. I'm definitely happy with the experience though! Suggestions to Sandos Retain and give raises to Daniel, Karla, Juan, Paula, and Papacito Lopez! These staff MADE the experience unreal for us. Just real genuine, fun people, that really want you to have a good time. But they also put in WORK doing events all day or only getting 1 day off at a time. I want to see these people every year! The influencers party you had this past weekend was a ton of fun, but the influencers mostly really aren't. They're not bad people, but they don't party in the pool, and barely on the dancefloor. They're more of the stereotypical snap pics continuously then stand around like a high school dance, type of people. But the ones I did talk to were nice. It just seems forced when they're never actually involved in the parties. One chick was in the pool once to snap a pic on a floaty then never left the bed area again. If you just retain and seek out staff like the ones mentioned above, you'd have no problem with people flocking to your hotel! Influencers area a waste of money, but I'm not sure if you pay for their stay and give them extra services only receiving an obvious forced positive review in return, OR if it was a sponsored party maybe? People don't care what influencers say as we all know their opinions are paid for. I care about real reviews from real paying visitors; that's how we know the true value and quality of a hotel! I did hear the champagne brand sponsored that pool party, so maybe it was them who paid? I don't know, but Sandos shouldn't waste their money on that at least. Certain events I found out about through concierge weren't on the Sandos News sheet in the morning or listed on your app. You guys should list everything or update it online so the guests know their options more accurately. One example is the white dress party, it was dead and a waste. The Sandos News sheet is also more accurate than the app. The app should be updated daily, or even post the Sandos News to the app so we always have easy access. The sheet is very helpful to plan your day though! This is a place we definitely will return to yearly as long as the experience is the same. It was beyond anything we expected! Loved my first Cancun/Caribbean experience, and hope for many more! I don't normally write long reviews on anything, but Sandos really deserved it so people know what they're getting. - Keishandryan9913 (4/5): Disappointed for the price - It was too small for our preference No matter where you were in the resort you could hear the pool music blaring. I’ve been to smaller resorts but they’ve always had a quiet pool and a lively pool but this one didn’t. It was hard to relax, even at the beach you could hear it The other big issue was the food , we ate dinner at the buffet once it was disgusting. The resturants were just okay. They only had one restaurant open per night aside from the buffet, and they weren’t taking reservations you had to go line up at 6pm when it opened and come back two hours later to eat. Racing other people to line up so your able to eat isn’t my idea of relaxing There was not enough chairs at the pool or beach at all , you could see people laying in the sand every day There were also many days where we couldn’t get a towel Service on the beach and pool was inconsistent Maybe it’s just the party vibe of Cancún, all the other resorts near us looked small as well We paid $2500 pp for a week and we just expected more for the price Positives: Most of the staff was friendly We got the basic room and it was fine The restaurant by the pool was good we ate breakfast and lunch there everyday We still had a great time bc we went with a lot of people. It was just disappointing for the price we payed based on other resorts we’ve been to
- Ali (5/5): With room renovations and improved food quality, this resort could easily climb higher in ratings. - I recently stayed at Sandos in Cancun for six nights in a Deluxe Room with Partial Ocean View. While the resort has many strengths—especially its wonderful staff—my overall experience lands at three stars due to the condition of the facilities.What truly elevates Sandos is its exceptional customer service. The staff is outstanding—friendly, attentive, and always willing to go above and beyond to ensure guests enjoy their stay. They are easily five-star caliber, and their effort makes a meaningful difference in the overall experience. The location is fantastic, with a beautiful beach and a great area to enjoy Cancun. The resort activities were also fun, well organized, and added good value to the stay. The main reason for the rating is that the hotel is clearly showing its age. My room, in particular, needed noticeable maintenance. The door frames were discolored, creating a poor first impression the moment you walked in. The bathroom had yellowing spots, especially around the shower area and floor, which made it feel outdated and not as clean as expected. The window didn’t open smoothly and was difficult to operate, and the furniture also showed years of wear. Overall, the room needs considerable updates and was not worth the price paid. Another thing to note—although not Sandos’ fault—is that the adjacent resort has extremely loud air-conditioning units that run nonstop. They’re so loud that it’s impossible to leave the window open to enjoy the natural ocean sounds, which may matter to anyone looking for a quiet or peaceful atmosphere. The food was just average, both in quality and variety. Breakfast especially could benefit from more options and fresher choices. For a resort of this category, the dining experience left a lot to be desired.
