Guest Reviews
- Cuong (8/5): - The location is great for first time traveller. The room size is great compare to other hotels in the same area.
The hotel is under remodeling so I have mismatched feeling about the room. The bathroom was ok but the water is everywhere when bath for the no window room. And the no window room is smelled really bad since there is no fresh air. The light control system is not complicated to control for window room(we booked 2 types of room). But the room itself is great. The sound proof is terrible. Everyone can hear what you are saying in the room
There is a lot of space for the lobby but no use of it. Feel empty and waste(restaurant takes 1/3 of the space. Food is ok for the price.
There is one key for each room so It’s very annoy to go out each time just to pick up things and come back
Staff is ok. Helpful but don’t expect the welcome atmosphere like other new hotel.
The score that expedia provides is correct for this hotel imo but to have a stay and explore the area, this hotel is good place for the price
- Adam (8/5): - Great location close to airport a markets. Short grab ride to walking street. Friendly staff would definitely stay again
- CHIENTE (8/5): CP質不錯的飯店 - 地點優越
浴室洗澡時發現沒有任何置架可以暫時放置洗澡用品
- Sazali (10/5): - This was my 2nd time staying in this hotel. It is very clean and the service was excellent.
- Poh Wei (8/5): A great location and great service from staff - The overall stay was good. Great location, polite and helpful staff service and large room. Our initial room booked was a little dirty and we requested a change of room. The manager was kind and helpful to upgrade our room. I will recommend others to stay in this hotel
- Debra (10/5): - My daughter and her husband spent their wedding night in the hotel,I booked it for a surprise wedding gift, the hotel decorated the room with swans and petals on the bed with scattered chocolates.. went above and beyond to make them feel special..thank you!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable and relaxing stay - We having a amazing stay. Will stay here again incoming visit

- Yeow Hwee Aaron (4/5): Not pleasant - Room shower DID NOT have hot water.
- danny (10/5): - No frills hotel. Has everything you need at convenient location.
Dont expect 5 stars but well worth the price and more of your standard hotel. Perfect for business or short stay travellers

- Theen Chi (10/5): - Will come back again
- PANG (8/5): Will come back again - Aircon is Superb and real cold. I have to give thumbs up for their Services during my stay. The only issue to improve is on their toilet flushing system.
- Jimmy (10/5): - Very clean room and excellent service
- Cheng Keong (10/5): - The front desk admin are friendly and very helpful.
- danny (8/5): - Basic hotel with everything needed. convenient location and close to dozens of coffee shops and restaurants.
Would be nice if there was a gym for the gym goers but 7min walking distance to gyms around and paid under $4 to enter did the job.
- audix (10/5): - The staff is friendly and helpful.
- GJ (10/5): - Nice n clean
- Jeffrey (10/5): - My only feedback is the hotwater during bathing. Difficult to adjust.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Horrible staff attitude - WiFi was horrible. When ask the staff to come and check, they tell me that my device has the issue, and not their WiFi. But every device that me and my partner had could not receive stable WiFi. It kept dropping off. Also when the aircon panel was blinking to state that there is an issue with the aircon, and the room got hot, the staff says that is okay, shows me there is air blowing out and I should accept it. But the air was hot! I demanded a technician and he fixed it. But the first staff treated me like I was stupid. Horrible experience.
- Julie (10/5): - Great place to stay good service. For example at Uptown hotel Breakfast have more varieties for $20 better on room rate. the service are great too
- Sazali (10/5): - Good location as it is just across the Ben Than market. Staff were friendly and very helpful.
- stanleigh (4/5): ot for the choosy ones - Place is good for quick shopping! But interior requires revamp.
During showering , it can be super hot or super cold...
- Nhi (6/5): - It is very near to Ben Thanh market but evening they will lock up street taxi can not go through
- April (10/5): Great location - Location is perfect as the hotel is seated at the heart of ho chi minh city. Hotel staff are friendly and accommodating; provided good quality service. Allowed early check in so long as the room is available. Standard room size. Breakfast buffet selection is limited but was able to serve food of our choice due to food restrictions.
- JoeZee (10/5): - Excellent location and friendly and helpful staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean room and very friendly staff. Definitely, will be back again.
- GILBERT (10/5): - Nearby market, and a lot of food around the hotel.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Bad - Dusty dirty old. Stains in the bathtub and toilet bowl. Bathtub crack. We moved to another hotel.
- Jason (8/5): Hotel next to Ben Thanh Market - Well located hotel next to Ben Thanh Market, plenty of food and services in the vicinity
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My second time staying here. Love it here because Ben Thanh Market is just right in front.
- randal (6/5): Bad experience for this stay. - Staffs is not friendly and hardly smile when talking to the guest, except for night shift. Wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone, I can get a better hotel for the same price. The breakfast is ok. But not great.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Accessible to tourists sightseeing historical sites & walking distance to central broadway & eatery market opposite the hotel.
- Steve (6/5): - Good location but tired decor. Staff for breakfast were very helpful and cheery.
- Hanim (2/5): - After make payment...i did not receive any email or comfirmation of my booking....so i think the booking is not sucessfully....but after a week i want to make a refund .... The hotel not consider.....by the time i not stay in the hotel...
- Lex (2/5): Windowless rooms. Very deceptive. - Room had no windows to the outside. They don’t tell you this in the room description. No way to know if it’s day or night without looking at a clock. Very deceptive!
- Dave (6/5): Near city - Hotel in located near the city, very convenient location.
- Ivan (10/5): Convience - Easy to access around. Got everything to shop.
Near the central market
- James (6/5): Bad Stay!! - The service of the counter staff is bad when checking in. During breakfast time, I see staff using their hand to pick food and put direct into their mouth. Worst hotel ever
- Edgar (4/5): - Foods are so bad.
- Chong Heng (6/5): Great Location Let Down by Poor Room Condition. - Location is convenient but the room is pretty run down. The dimmed lights in the rooms mask the actual run down condition, bathroom tub and shower area pretty shabby with moulds. This is certainly not worth the price you'd pay.
- SUNNY (2/5): Not value for money. - Room was small, window also very small. Bedsheets torn. No shavers, no 3-1 coffee.
- Kim (4/5): Bad service - I was staying on the top floor of the hotel. The water was not hot and not strong running to the high floor. Staff did not fix the water on time.
I had to wait for the next day, but we checked out the next day.
Front desk staff are not friendly and cold manner.
the toilet on the main floor is not clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): lose to everything - Extremely close to the market. Eatery are nearby
- Cilla (6/5): Excellent location. Require facelift ASAP - Out of date decor and facilities, that's first impression at check in lobby into guest room, due to bar fridge in 1st room, changed to 2nd room, that hot water not working, changed to another room. Facelift to brighten up and new decoration, facilities required ASAP.
Staff are friendly, but lack of English speaking skills, that caused misunderstanding.
If you are looking for shopping and eateries, you may put up with current hotel environments.
Cheers
- Verified traveler (4/5): - VERY BAD HOTEL - 2 STARS AT THE MOST
DIRTY , NO FACILITIES , NO HOT WATER
- Alex (8/5): Covenient location next to Ben Thanh Market - The staff is nice , but the reception area looks different from the one shown on the website which is bigger and nicer. The location is a bit noisy at night .
- Shanner (10/5): Hotel next to Ben Thanh market - Great location, next to Ben Thanh Market. Night market just infront hotel door step. Walking distance to takashimaya, Saigon Center. Good food around the hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Night market view - We couldnt sleep at night due to loud noise/singing at night. The window sound proof system is not so good.Nevertheless, there was a funeral hence the singing went on until 2.30am. WE asked for a different room away from the sound and we were given one. We met one of the hotel's dedicated staff who tried to make up our discomfort and we noticed he seemed to have work at morning, afternoon and night shifts! Cant recall his name, but very nice man.
Bed was comfortable though the room interior design of dark colours can be improved. There is a good rate money changer next to the hotel (Western Union). When the underground train starts operation perhaps in 2018, the area would probably more busy.
There is night market which starts exactly at 6pm until mid night, making the whole street lively. However, we are too tired to haggle on the prices at the market or at night market. Wish they could just put the prices on the goods they are selling.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Easy to get around, but a little noisy in the evening due to the night market in front of the hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Very good location and very convenient - The staff and the service is not so good bad management
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice place to stay especially near the market - Cosy, friendly staff, ample breakfast and many amenities nearby
- Verified traveler (4/5): Hotel facilities need to be fixed - Ceiling lights cannot be switched off and TV no signal. Hotel did gave me another room to stay the first night and fixed the lights in my room the next day. Conceige service was good though.
- Siu Wai (6/5): - so far so good
- Yvonne (10/5): Convenient and well appointed hotel - This was our second stay at this hotel. It's directly opposite some good markets and in walking distance of the main tourist sites in HCMC. The staff are very helpful and they serve a good buffet breakfast. There was no window in both rooms that we stayed in but it was very quiet. They aren't very spacious rooms but that wasn't a problem for us and we enjoyed the spa bath.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Best location for district 1 and Ben Thanh market. - Location is very convienient to all facilities and only short distant walk. Hotel look old and has not been look after. Only 3 stars
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location - Location is close to all places of interest and convenient.
- Mohamad Syazli (10/5): Great location! Very good for shopping - The lication was perfect for shopping.
- KOH (10/5): SAFETY IS MOST IMPORTANT - All is good. As I always stay this hotel when I come Vietnam.to me when travel oversea safety is most important. Price wise is alright for me as we are staying in hot district. Where u can get all the thing u want easily.
- Sean (8/5): Nice place to stay - Generally ok. Just that some information of the facility wasnt updated on the hotel brochure. (for eg, the spa operation hour suppose to be from 10am-3am...only got to call and realized it was closed @ 11pm)
- Noresam (10/5): Trip To Ho Chin Minh - Awesome
- Phong (6/5): Close to everything you need. - The staff are extremely helpful. I checked in early they did not have my room ready but they did up grade for me to another room. Over all, I do think the staff made a big different for me stay at this hotel. It's right in the heart of Saigon but it's quiet. Come and stay and you'll see.
- Angela (4/5): Unpleasant experience at hotel - Our stay was marred by dishonest staff. We ordered a car for an early airport transfer and was asked to pay 320k viet dong in advance at the counter. The cab was there to pick us at 5am. When we reach the airport, the driver said he was not paid by the hotel and the fare was 130k viet dong. I called the hotel and they claimed I did not order a car when it was there waiting for us. I would like to warn fellow travelers to be on high alert when at the hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Functional room at a reasonable price. Well located near night market.
- Graham (10/5): Graham and Kim's Asia tour - This hotel a bit noisy on a night due to its location next to the market, but we did expect this as we wanted to be with local people and it was not a deterrent for us, great place to be with the museums, sight seeing all around the city.
All the staff accretive, professional and polite.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hotel near to night market - wonderful but breakfast is not as good as what it seems.
- Hung (6/5): - Room small and was not clean had dead roach on Floor.
- Alan (8/5): Marvellous & Economy - Satisfactory
- Richard (8/5): Great location for a fair price in District 1. - My wife and I stayed here while I was between projects. We like the Ben Thanh Market - District 1 area of Ho Chi Minh City. This hotel is located across the street from the market and a few steps away from Le Loi Street. The 7th floor room was situated on a corner of the building with great views of the market area. The hotel has a pretty good buffet breakfast and lounge area. The hotel staff are friendly and efficient. I recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a median price in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City.
- Norman (10/5): Phan Boi Chau - Room a little dusty. Overall, the staff is good. F&B good and well prepared. Duty manager excellent. Reasonably priced.
- Norman (10/5): A&EM Phan Boi Chau - This is a nice hotel located in Q1. It is across the street from Ben Thanh Market.
Staff are friendly. F&B is good. Food tasty and well prepared.
- Frankie (8/5): Good choice! - The hotel was awesome. It's reasonably priced, conveniently located, and has nice and friendly staff who can speak English well.
- Kim Chan (8/5): Enjoyable Trip - Wanderful
- Verified traveler (6/5): 2 nights stay in Mid July 2015 - A functional 3 stars hotel room, stayed 2 nights in mid July 2015. My assigned room (504) was right next to the lift shaft so it was noisy. Breakfast spread was decent and I would recommend ordering Phol and omelette. Great neighbourhood, opposite dry markets for local produce and available taxi in the day
- David (4/5): Convenient location at Ben Thanh market - Room is small with a tiny window blocked by an building facade poster.
I'm given a room on the 9th floor but the lift only goes up to 8th.
Breakfast is simple and nothing to shout about.
- Kim Chan (8/5): Satisfactory - Marvellious
- Kim Chan (10/5): It's amazing relax & friendly hotel - It's Wonderful to stay at this hotel
- Shao-Kai (2/5): Poor........... - Our room just next to elevator... and can hear noise from elevator all the night...
room
there are lots of ants in the room everywhere...
- Stephen (6/5): overall a satisfactory stay - Overall satisfactory. Good breakfast. A little noisy if you plan to sleep before midnight due to the night market stalls right outside but luckily the noise didn't bother me. A little foul stench coming from the toilet (suspect its the drainage design which there is nothing the cleaners can help)- so just spray some perfume when using the toilet and its ok.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Central Location Wins this Hands Down - I won't go into detail about the location / rooms etc - cause there's been enough said. But for me a stay in HCM is about the convenience of being where you need to be depending on what you want to do. My trip was mainly about taking in shopping and local food in HCM and staying at AM Hotel made it easier - its a no frills hotel local hotel. The convenience of location (and not having to explain to the taxi driver what street were were in) and just saying Benh Thanh Market - made it a cinch to get around/ walk back or orientate ourselves.
- Kim Chan (8/5): Ho Chi Minh Tour - It was very plessure to stay but a bit noisy during nightime
- Andrew Goh (6/5): Great Location lousy maintenance - The location is great with lots of stalls, restaurants and a market. Staffs are friendly and good service but low command of English. Condition of the room is good if the bathtub switches have better condition, we book 3 room all have the same switches problem. I will still choose this hotel when I visit Vietnam again.
- MARIE (6/5): HANDY TO MARKETS - The Hotel is very centrally situated. The room could do with a refurbishment. The mat on the floor has been there for the past three visits we have made.. It is very tired. The curtains in the room were very dirty.
The staff were very helpful (if you could be understood).
Not sure of the smoking rules. I was on what I thought was a non smoking floor and could smell cigarettes all the time.
If you are looking for a handy place for shopping and only stay a short time, this is the hotel to chose.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good price and convenient location - At the location next to Benh Thanh market is a plus point for leisure traveller and it's walking distance to local food and upper market shopping belt
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not a good experience - Stayed at room 102. Had no windows and loud prayers could be heard at 4am which lasted for more than an hour through the walls.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel good location - On an overall, it was a pleasant stay. It would be great if the walls and doors were more soundproof. Could hear people talking along the corridors etc.
- noor (10/5): Comfortable and in front of Ben Thant market... - I love this hotel*nice staff*easy to help*
Easy to shopping....neares to Ben tant market*
- Nani (8/5): Best Location - Very good location. Do not have to spend too much on taxi. Most shopping area just walking distance.
- Wingsatjetstar (6/5): Great location, affordable! - This is our second time we have stay at A & EM hotel, we loved it! Location is close is fantastic, close to Pham Ngu Lao (backpackers district), all the landmarks of Ho Chi Minh City and especially Ben Thanh Market. Staff were ever so helpful and hotel is so clean. Although the downside is the walls between the rooms and outside corridor is thin, I can hear most noise made by cleaners and other hotel guests talking or slamming their doors. I love punctuality of the laundry service, it's always come back fresh and pressed nicely! Well recommended.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Overpriced hotel - Very Disappointing - We paid the most expensive rate for the 2 beds unit. Unfortunately, at check in time, hotel staff said that all the 2 beds are on the top floor (the elevator does not go up to the top floor). So we opted for the floor which has elevator but had to sacrifice for only 1 bed. The room and bed were so small that we had to request hotel staff to move us to the top floor(without elevator) for the 2 beds unit the next day.
If you don't mind the 1 bed unit and if you can get a very good price, then it's OK to stay. Otherwise, I would not recommend it.
- M Tay (8/5): Pleasant stay - We stayed in VIP room. Only set back is the toilet are all glass see thru panel. Also bfast food no replenishment even we came down at 9:30am.
However, the front desk staff are all very helpful n very near to benh thanh market & surrounding area has lots of eatery.
- darrell (6/5): Ok but very dark colors - I found the hotel was okay. But the rooms were black with sparkly stuff on the floor very dark but got a good deal through Expedia it was okay
- Verified traveler (10/5): Savings for shopping - Stayed at the VIP suite. Exceeded expectation considering the room rate. Saved lots of money for shopping.
- john (2/5): Hotel need update - The room too small , not as the pictures show , the elevator too slow , room too snoise .
