Guest Reviews
- Massimo (4/5): - Struttura molto datata e poco spaziosa. Camera silenziosa e zona tranquilla.
- Valery (8/5): - I liked it location in quite neighborhood with little guest and outside noise. Room consition is outdated, but bedding is clean and has all amenities for short stay. Price is cheap and right.
- Yu Feng (10/5): - No comment
- Yu Feng (10/5): - The property is clean and valuable to anyone who wants to trip in Toyko
- Wen Hua (10/5): - Really enjoyed the stay
- Ka Tai (8/5): - The hotel was decent, nothing special but not bad either. Clean rooms, average service, and fair value for the price.
- Jason (6/5): Cheap Accommodation - This place was booked last minute on a budget. Room is small but doable for a party of 2. Plugs show some wear and tear. Subway/JR stations are a little far (15-20 walk) so familiarizing with local buses will help reduce commute time. Plenty of convenience stores within 3 min walk. Main takeaway is the pricing.
- Hiromi (6/5): - It was ok for this price.
You need to know that it will take about 15 minutes to the nearest train stations. And this neighborhood is in an area called "Yoshiwara". (red-light district)
We stayed here with two kids and it was fine but a bit weird walking through that kind of area with them...
We got a room with kitchen but there was nothing. You need to buy everything if you want to cook.
- Paul (10/5): - Stayed here last year. Walkable to sites and transportation. Very quiet area. Fantastic staff. Quiet, comfortable, large rooms. Great rates. Lawsons right next door with family mart down the street. I will always make this hotel a part of my stay in Tokyo!
- Nicky (10/5): - Awesome hotel. The bed can be a bit more comfortable but the price justifies it.
- Sang (6/5): - I give this hotel 3 stars. Here is why. BUT first thing first: The booking on Expedia says "Room and Kitchen" But there was NO kitchen!!!!! So, either Expedia has deceptive advertising or the hotel owner!
ONE star for the best receptionists. Very friendly staff, although might not be helpful in some situations.
2ND star for its location -- VERY clean area and safe area that is full of restaurants, etc. The area is pretty quiet.
3RD star is for the laundry service that is literally right next to the hotel, and the room's SOMEWHAT cleanliness. The room has the best fridge, big compared standard tiny useless ones in luxury hotels. This fridge can freeze your drinks that you can take with you on hot days! So that was very important for me to have ice code drink (2-liter water bottle) throughout the day while exploring Tokyo! I got clean linens. That was also important.
SOME CONS:
1) The hotel is old. Carpet in the room is full of stains. Beds are old. Bathroom is old and has musty smell, as if someone was smoking in the room. Air conditioner is old, at least the room I was in. It has broken pieces but works after you learn how to use it.
2) I really don't know how the hotel got 10/10 ratings?
In the end, you pay for what you get!
- Callam (10/5): - Overall good experience. Little interaction with staff after check in, but no issues or complaints. Nice area only a short train or two away from pretty much everything
- claudio (10/5): - Usually my preferred location to stay for the last ten years. It’s always a great experience and the location continues to improve staff friendliness as well as facilities. Great for a family needing a kitchen and space.
- Anna Cecilia (10/5): Soho Asakusa Hotel - Our stay was fantastic was more spacious than what we were expecting! Receptionist was very helpful with calling us a taxi after we checked out! Entrance to the hotel is located in a little alleyway. Front desk is located on the 2nd floor. You will have to carry your luggage up to the 2nd floor
- Sheila (10/5): Excellent value for money! - Excellent value for money. Perfectly clean. Microwave, fridge with small freezer and kettle very welcome. Plus a lift to all rooms.
Even changed my bedding to accommodate feather allergy - more expensive hotels in Japan have not done this!
Need to be mobile as quite a walk to the Tourist Information Desk (also excellent) and centre of the town. Plenty of local shops very close.
Perfect for a budget traveller.
- YOUNG BAE (8/5): 5
- danangtr (2/5): Disappointed from dishonest staff - I have misbooked my reservation and agreed to pay 23.000 ¥ for 2 nights stay 9-11 Feb with the help of the kind old lady staff. We were also informed to refund our misbook agoda stay and the Hotel will promise to approve with 50% refund.
However after several try, the Hotel kept rejecting my refund request. The receptionist girl kept telling me to ask through agoda customer care while in fact it's the Hotel side that rejects our partial refund. I felt like the staff were dishonest and ignorant towards my request, with non-informative solution unlike the old kind lady.
The room itself is quite spacious with a stiff matress and several stabdard facilities (microwave, water heater, etc), but with 23.000 ¥ price and quite the walk to Iriya station (nearest station) I think it's too pricy and the staff besides the old lady are too lazy.
I won't recommend you this Hotel as my case hasn't been resolved and the staff were dishonest about the promise of my 50% refund terms.
- Jeremy (10/5): - The place is very secluded not quiet near to any restaurant but there is a lot convenient store around.
- Alex (6/5): Good price - Good for the price , but a bit far away from the closest subway station, which is 15min walk. A bit aged building, and the lobby is located in the second floor, and the entrance is not so obvious, it is licated in the rear part of the building. The view from the 8th floor was great with the Skytree tower in the back.
- Yamaris (10/5): - This is a great choice for a stay in Tokyo if you want somewhere close to Tokyo station on arrival to Tokyo. A short bus ride and walk and we arrived safely. It is easy to walk past if you do not go up the stairs to the reception desk.
- Julie (8/5): - Quiet area
- Hugo (10/5): - The hotel is located in a nice quiet area, a block away from a metro station that takes you straight to tsukiji and 7 mins on foot to the asakusa shrine. The desk lady is super nice and helpful. The place is clean and cozy
- Paul (10/5): - Older building, so its concrete walls. No hearing the neighbors in the building. Fast easy check in and out. Close to the bus depot and 15 minute walk to the train. Laundry facilities on the first floor. Convenience stores close. Walking distance to skytree, Senso-ji shrine, Sumida park, and best of all Tokyo Rickshaw. My only complaint, i wish i stayed longer. I will be back.
- Jeremie (6/5): - The hotel was in an easy and practical area to reach by foot via the Iriya station, there're convenience store neaby and isn't far from Sensō-ji, a lot of stores and places to eat. It was also rather nicely quiet even during the weekend. The room itself was surprisingly large for a solo traveler despite the price and for the most part, it was comfortable thanks to AC, easy internet access, a decent desk and there were no bad odors in the room either.
The bed however and pillow were absolutely atrocious however. It was very uncomfortable and springs could be felt through the mattress.
Check-in itself was very quick and easy and the staff was nice and friendly. While reception is on the second floor as many reviews state, the walk up there is actually very short and easy.
- Bin (6/5): - We were surprised that one of staff speaks English and Chinese
- GABRIEL (10/5): - The location is great ,you have a bus outside the hotel to ueno.you are between the Hibya line and Asakusa...also direct train from Haneda.
Location is key, hotel is basic but suits it's purpose.
I should point out that I am lone traveler.
- Alexander (10/5): - Luxurious
- Verified traveler (4/5): Stay away! - Cons far outweigh the pro’s
Hotel strictly enforces 3pm ck in even though rooms are vacant.
Before even using my bed, I found hairs on sheets and comforter, NOT MINE ! ( some were of pubic variety)
Called housekeeping, they replaced promptly,BUT
“Mattress “ below sheets was heavily soiled with stains.
Quite gross.
I made up my mind that I was not going to sleep on that.
Tried calling hotels.com who called hotel directly to arrange a refund/cancellation but no one returned their call.
Thus I waited all night for a call that never came.
Tried sleeping on bed, but the thought of what was under the sheets did not promote a good nights sleep,
plus the bed was super hard.
After a restless night, I decided to ck out @ 0400.
To my surprise, there is no one manning the front desk.
There is a number to call, which I tried, but no one answered, quite useless to leave an after hours number, and not answer it.
FYI, front desk is manned after 0800.
I left at 0500, and put my keys in drop box.
The hotel is quite far from mrt and eateries.
There are a couple of Lawasons, but that’s it.
Don’t let the name fool you, it is quite far from Asakusa station.
We ended up taking a taxi to/from hotel about Y820 each way.
Highly recommend you spend extra $ on a better hotel near MRT, cause $ saved will only be spent on taxi fare.
Besides, this is a very very budget hotel and it truly is.
Pro’s
Room is bigger than other rooms in Japan.
Private bathroom, but has mold on walls.
- Mari (6/5): - The location was not convenient as I thought.
The room was very tight and need improvement I think.
- Sally (2/5): - Unconvinced, dirty room,, smells, poor service
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Every thing was satisfied. We liked it.
- Tia (10/5): - Felt homely with the imperfections within the property. Not a place to feel luxurious, but a place to rest with the convenience of a conveni store nearby.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - helpful staff members. they dont understand much english but they try their best to help. its a budget hotel, dont expect a lot. the wifi barely worked but i was drunk a lot anyways.
- John (10/5): Nice affordable foreigner friendly hotel. - Good location. Within easy walking of various sites and the subway. Staff was easy to work with even for a Japanese limited American.
- Guoxiong (6/5): - condition is poor. the beds are not comfortable. Wifi not connected well.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Check in and check out quick with no problem at all, the girl at the reception nice and helpfull. Place needs some maintenance and mattreses definetaly need to be replace. Recomended
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice and more comfort for family trip if you need more than one room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Second time using, will continue to use in future.
Very good location, plenty of places to eat.
On main line for tourist attractions, close enough to main JR station.
All the info for ude of hotel is in english taped to lift.
- J (4/5): - So fine, the room didn't cost an arm and a leg and we were certainly not expecting 5-star luxury. However, we also weren't expecting dust bunnies everywhere and worse, the room smelling of piss. We were just thankful we'd only booked it for a night.
- Eddie (8/5): - Budget hotel close to a popular Temple, good for people who know how to navigate your way around Tokyo with gps
- norscio (6/5): Tough To Find; Nothing Special, But Good Value for Tokyo - The hotel is located in a largely residential neighborhood in Asakusa. Like most of Tokyo, the area is safe and clean. If you know EXACTLY where you're going, the location is not all that bad. It's about a 15-minute walk to Sensoji Temple, lots of stores and the Metro but you need a treasure map to find it. I walked there many times during my stay and even using a smartphone GPS app, it's difficult to find without making at least one or two wrong turns. There were two chain convenience stores within a few blocks. Most everything else was a decent walk.
The lobby is up one level and the desk is not staffed 24 hours though I believe staff can be reached at any time. They were friendly and spoke some English. There is an elevator. Room had a bed, desk, window with somewhat of a view, old fridge, old microwave (that was malfunctioning) and a TV with few channels, all Japanese. Bed was fairly comfy though bedding was only an undersized comforter. A/C worked OK. WiFi was OK. Furnishings were old but room was fairly clean. Bathroom had a small but deep shower/tub. Could have been a little cleaner. Toiletries included a toothbrush and razor. Lights worked. You had to lock the door with a key when you left which was not convenient or very safe as I suspect many people think hotel doors lock behind them, even if they aren't deadbolted.
For a city short on space and where many businessmen sleep in capsules, this definitely was a good deal. I would always sacrifice location for space.
- Jennifer (8/5): - Good little bit far from the station..about 20mins walk
- Damo (8/5): - Hotel is in a quiet area. The facilities are functional but a little tired. Staff are friendly and approachable.
- Frances (8/5): Budget Hotel but 15 minutes to trains - Late night, I arrived the hotel, the reception(at level 2) quickly responded in English. Things move smoothly as I have paid booking before arrival. There are maps and brochures in English and other language on Tokyo at the counter. Got the hotel key and brief notes about hotel, then drag the luggage into the small lift.
Non-smoking room as requested, air-conditioned very comfortable. One clean quilt for double bed. Working TV good for keeping updated if you understand Japanese. Took a while to get microwave working as power not turned on and no manual to explain buttons with only Japanese writing on them. Thankfully the big button smart function automatically choose working time solved everything. Very quite area makes a good night sleep.
There are knife and fork available for the asking.
- fmcsilbor (6/5): Inconvenient and small. - I wouldn't call this a hotel in the strictest sense of the word. More like an apartment or a mid-range condominium.
The location is far from Minowa station and it took us a kilometer of walking just to reach the place. And that is just what we did everytime we took to the streets of Tokyo. Although at the tail end of our trip we discovered that it was more convenient but expensive to get off at Asakusa Station and take a taxi to the hotel.
The lobby is at the second floor and can be accessed through the stairs so you need to lug your luggage up. The elevator starts at the second floor. The staff can speak English fairly well and very accommodating. The downside is the front desk is closed from 11:00pm to 8:30am. It would be a pity if you would want something from them at that time.
The hotel has no restaurant but has a vending machine in the lobby that sells various drinks. A do-it-yourself laundry room is located at the back. A Lawson convenience store is just around the corner. The hotel is far from the busy section of Tokyo and quiet at all times.
The room is small compared to normal hotel standards. It has a double bed which is small for two people. A dresser, a small table for a flat TV, a microwave, small refrigerator, hair dryer, kettle, two glasses and a chair are also in the hotel. A wardrobe is placed beside the toilet but can used only by one person. You put your luggage in one corner of the room where you take your clothes directly from it. As we were three in the room, we used the comforters of the two other rooms where our companions were staying as an extra bed.
The microwave does not work. The aircon remote is in Japanese, you have to guess the right button, thus controlling the temperature is impossible. The TV was all Japanese shows making the devise useless for us.
Our room was on the fourth floor, with balcony and had a fairly good view of the area.
The small bathroom has cold and hot water with the usual complimentary toiletries. The bathtub takes up most of the space in the bathroom so you have to take a shower in it. After flushing the toilet, you can hear the refilling of the tank and can be disturbing if used at night.
Cleaning of the room and changing of the sheets is done only if requested.
The entire room was clean and the toilet does not smell even after use.
Wifi is fast and can connect fairly quick.
Overall, it was a pleasant stay, although I would not personally want to recommend to others.
- Javier (8/5): - It was an apartment with two rooms. Very spacious and close to the main city attractions. The building is in good conditions even though you can tell that the bathroom is old, but everything works perfect. Small kitchen with dinning room. It is not a place that looks clamorous but fit the need for a traveler, specially for the price.
- ARPARAT (10/5): - Look OK and over all is OK
- Stefan (10/5): Big room! - It was a large room, we liked it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Not really the hotels fault. but all those children that were staying for karate were extremely loud and rude.
- Gaylene (4/5): Bed quality alert! - The staff were amazing and did everything we asked to help make our stay more comfortable, but layers of blankets could not make up for the fact that it was just a box spring we were provided, with no mattress on top. There was also a problem with the heater in our room and limited electrical outlets. The neighbourhood seems to specialize in services for men by night, so no good restaurants nearby and no subway lines within short walks. We had to abandon our 4-day reservation after the first night and find a business hotel with real mattresses.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very good location to tourist sites, some within walking distance.Plenty of places to eat and drink.
Good size room, includes microwave and full size fridge.
No phone in my room, not sure if that's a general thing.
- Chu (8/5): Great budget hotel - No complaints other than the wifi internet, it was very unreliable. Slow, and kept cutting out on us
- Saman (6/5): - Hotel was not bad. But it is about 1.5 Kms away from the nearest subway station. Located in a quiet area. My advice for any tourist is to find a hotel close Ueno station. Otherwise you have to take another subway train to Iriya station. But from Ueno trains are available to everywhere. Reception is closed in the night time.
- Koobum (6/5): Bland.... - We got this room via hotwire. As we were on a rather tight budget, we opted for a 3* hotel. I had a good experience with hotwire previously and was rather 'disappointed' with this 'hotel'.
To be fair, it was not terrible. The room was large (by Japanese standards) and had a polite receptionist (late check in). But, it is in a very quiet housing area, a long walk to the metro, hard to locate, very basic amenities,, no breakfast/cafe etc..
Like a bland dish, it is tasteless and lacking. Just some place to rest for a night.
- cris (8/5): Nice hotel but 15 min walk from train station - Comfortable hotel, clear room, nice staff including kitchen in room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This place was about what we expected for the price. the beds were hard, but clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great for the money. Warm, friendly staff. - It's what you expect for the money, however as I was travelling I spent little time in the room and most of my time exploring.
It's clean, quiet, comes with air con and was more than what I needed for my time there.
The staff are warm and friendly, going above and beyond what they needed to to accomodate my stay. I would absolutely stay again.
- JUN XIANG (6/5): Clean hotel - Good
- martha (2/5): Don't stay - Don't stay here, the place was cramped, air con system old and the "beds" uncomfortable
- John (8/5): Nice hotel - Nice hotel with a big room and lot of facilities. The location a little bit far from the station.
- Michael (10/5): - Had a great stay and really enjoyed my comfy bed and private bathroom. Very clean. Staff were very friendly and made the check in process easy. Would stay again
- hananoyume (2/5): The worst experience of our japanese trip - This is absolutely not a hotel !
First of all, the name says this "hotel" is in Asakusa. That's totally wrong ! It's located in Senzoku and very far away from any subway station, 20 minutes from Iriya (Hibiya line). To go there with all our luggages was awful. Hopefuly we had wifi with us because I really thought my boyfriend was mistaken as we took very small streets.
When you arrive at the Soho, you see the reception is on the 2nd floor... without elevator ! Good luck. And nobody is at the reception, no staff visible. In fact they're all in a room behind the reception and you have to bell if you want to see someone. We wanted to let our luggages at the reception, used then as locket. They don't give you a ticket to get your luggages back unlike normal hotels. You really have to trust them.
You can keep the key with you when you go outside to visit Tokyo. At the beginning we didn't understand why they decided to do this way. But it was very logical as the reception is open from 8:00am to 11:00pm (cross the fingers if you need help between 11:00pm and 8:00am !). And you are very lucky if you see someone at the frontdesk when the reception is still open. Everybody seems to prefer staying in the other room behind their screens.
The staff is not very professionnal but tries to give the impression he is, with his now famous "hello sir, madam".
No breakfast, so they found a solution : putting in every room a noisy fridge that you'll probably want to throw out from the room, directly in the street. We had to disconnect it as we couldn't sleep.
The room has a correct size but is very badly disposed. The bathroom is small and badly disposed as well. The furniture is very tired. All is absolutely not functional and very dusty. There is mold in the bathroom.
Talking about sleeping... our night were awful. The bed was way to small for two, and so was the blanket of course. The one next to the ground has to pray not to fall down during the night.
There was a laundry in the hotel : we had to go out, go around the building, and the laundry was there. No clear explanation there so it's not really easy to use it.
The first day we discovered that the Soho was really not far from "hot district", with clubs.
The second day, 11:00pm, our bed cracked. Quickly and praying, we went to the reception where, luckily, there was still someone. We explained the situation. "We send you the staff." What a staff ! Three men with one hammer, two electric screwdrivers and some wood boards. 11:15pm, the screwdrivers worked in the room and they were fixing the bed. After that, we were always afraid that the bed cracked once again, especially where the bed was moving a lot when we were in.
So as a resume : no services, the room is not comfortable and not functional at all, no presence of the staff unlike the other hotels. The name Soho Asakusa Hotel isn't reflecting the type housing and the district it is located. Reserving in this hotel was an awful mistake that cost us our trip in Tokyo : as we were not rested at all it was very difficult to visit the city.
And I forgot to tell : the air conditioning didn't work as well : when we wanted 30°C, it was cold getting out of there.
- Verified traveler (6/5): You get what you pay for. - We stayed for three nights in this hotel, and enjoyed all of them. We didn't expect much in terms of amenities, but the room was clean and the staff were very helpful.
- Joseh (8/5): Staff were not available when I checked in late - I booked a hotel late at 23:30pm. At 23:55pm I arrived. There were no body there. I waited for 1 hr 30min they showed up and checked me in. They told me they were not available after 23:00. Expedia conformation stated they are available until 24:00. It was a nightmare for me after that everything is fine. Staff were nice and friendly.
- BADARUDDIN (6/5): small but comfortable - a good stay but quite a walk to the nearest station.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Too far to get to by public transport - we wanted it for a short trip to Tokyo, but it was a long way to get to from Tokyo central station and also not the best front desk and staff. Would recommend finding somewhere else.
- Claudio (10/5): SOHO Sequel - This place was even better the second time around. The highlight of my stay was the staff. They went above and beyond to make sure my stay was satisfactory. The visitor policy is a bit strict but I found the location to be a great way to experience the Tokyo life.
- Kaberaska (8/5): Touristic trip - Small cheap hotel for business trip. Clear, but there was a bit smell of tobaco. 15 minutes to Asakusa Sensoji Temple and Asakusa station of Ginza line. In this hotel there is a coin loundry and everyone can use it. Front desk is at the second floor and it is not very convinient.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Moderate Hotel 15-20 minutes walk from transit - Inconvenient for public transit, but certainly within walking distance, especially if you aren't bringing much.
Toilet was not working properly, but this was quickly rectified by the hotel staff.
Desk hours were not convenient (closed 23:00-8:00).
- Brad (6/5): We wanted cheap and central, and it delivered - Stayed in 2 Bedroom with our two kids, and was nice to not have to split into two twin rooms as we have done elsewhere. So much to do nearby that you will only be in the room to sleep, so 4 or 5 star is a waste of money even if it is in budget. 5 mins walk to the No. 8 bus which stops at the Skytree. From the Skytree you can pay for the Tokyo Sky Hop double decker to see everything on the must-see Tokyo list (with English commentary via earphones)
Sensoji Temple an easy 15 min walk away too. Nice spot, but not luxurious.
- mahesh (4/5): Ok for a night stay. - Hard to locate the hotel on your own, unless you know your way around.
It's suited only for a night stay if you plan to spend the night in asakusa and just need a place to rest..
Not recommended for a long stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Large, inexpensive rooms - I shared a four person suite with some of my friends on my last visit to Tokyo. The staff is pretty inattentive, and they were not the most helpful with local recommendations or the check in process. They are also not available past 11PM or before 8AM (I think). The beds and pillows are average. The rooms themselves are well furnished with towels and (at least in the suites), a refrigerator, stove, microwave, tables and chairs. The bathroom is small but clean. The location is about a 10 minute walk from the nearest subway stations (equidistant from Iriya or Minowa on the Hibiya Line) but there are several convenience stores and restaurants near by. Asakusa is pretty close, as is Ueno. Would stay here again, but don't expect too much from the quality of service or comfort.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This hotel is in a old neighborhood. For someone who want to experience Japan/Tokyo this is a great place
- Johnny (6/5): If you don't speak Japanese, Don't rent this Hotel - By looking on web side in English at Hotel General:

- vicky (10/5): Good licaton - Nice and clean. I got an apartment for a very good price!!
- Ruth (10/5): Soho Asakusa, FIND IT! - Nice hotel with A LAUNDROMAT YAY! underneath, but inside the alley maze inside the boulevards, it is not easy to find. We had to navigate by the Tokyo Tower from afar.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good hotel - The stay was nice. Nothing fancy but good enough. Clean, with a couch (the only thing is the size of the blanket and the single pillow). Accessible but not that close from the center of Asakusa (10-15 min walk).
- Verified traveler (6/5): NA - Hotel counter lady is friendly and she speaks perfect English, which is an advantage for tourist.
- Josh_Wallace (8/5): Just Loved It! - The Soho Asakusa was funky and fantastic! It's not actually in a redlight district, as other reviewers have stated--it's about a block away from a very quiet street with neon signs advertising massages and the like. The establishments are patrolled by well-mannered Yakuza.
The hotel--really a short-term apartment, as others have said--is 10 minutes/1 km--from Minawa station (two stops from Ueno) in a quaint neighbourhood of small and many vintage houses. It's a couple of zigs, a zag and a long straight line to the Asakusa (which is 2 km from Asakusa Shrine or a 20-minute ride on the 43 bus if you can find the stop, which we couldn't, so we took the subway). Don't be fooled by Google Earth. Local folks escorted us with their GPS-equipped Iphones each time we got lost.
We had a 15 m2 room for three on the seventh floor with a balcony and stunning view of downtown for under $100 a night. The room was equipped with 1 double bed (NOT queen), 1 foldout sofa for two (tight fit), hotplate, microwave, kitchen sink, medium-sized fridge, table and desk chair, high-speed (1 Megabit/s) Internet (cable and WiFi), flat-screen low-res cable Japanese-language TV, a huge deep bathtub (with plenty of hot water any time of day) and a separate toilet.
As someone else mentioned, make sure to go straight through the ground-floor door marked "Private" to the elevator, so you don't have to schlep your luggage up to the 2nd-floor reception desk.
Our room was tight for three, but we were cozy. There are few restaurants of interest in the hood, but we went out to Ueno Market most evenings where the food is just so good and cheap (really hard to spend more than $7 on a huge keitan sushi or soba feast).
There is no housekeeping unless you ask for it, but you will get it if you do. We needed a minor repair and the guy was up in a jiffy, working his heart out.
We were vacationing, but I'd brought work and got a lot done in this serene environment.
If you want a beautiful hotel at this price, stay in Yokohama. But in central Tokyo, we could have paid $300 a night and not gotten a room this practical. This is not a gorgeous room. It is basic. But it works, the staff was great, the environment was terrific.
- Jennyinftl (8/5): Quiet and Quaint - Stayed here for a layover in Tokyo. Hotel is located is Asakusa, which is a very quiet area of Tokyo especially late at night.I loved it. The staff was very friendly and the room was very comfortable. King sized bed, microwave, refrigerator and bathroom amenities included for a very good price. A Lawson store located around the corner and a espresso/coffee vending machine downstairs. This place is walking distance from the temple and various bars. Due to jet lag, my friend and I found ourselves walking the area at 2-3 am. Always felt very safe and able to find good food and a couple of drinks at friendly bars. Lawson is open 24 hours so it was great to have it around the corner. Would definitely stay here again.
