• Paolo (10/5): Great place for making new friends! - Free gym passes to Anytime Fitness, fun nightly events, and very friendly staff! The hostel is in a great location close to Victoria Park and Broadway Shopping Centre.

• Hannah (7/5): A very chaotic overnight stay. - Located near to a major shopping centre and walkable to cafes and restaurants. Thick duvet, comfy pillow. Seems there are lots of people living long term in this hostel, the room was an absolute tip when I arrived, clothes, shoes, rubbish everywhere, smelt horrible, drains blocked in the showers, regardless of it being Easter there were big gaps of time where there was no-one to check anyone in, and the lovely Italian lady Arianne had to do lots of checking in, giving gym passes to people and going above and beyond her role and care of duty! This needs to be recognised! Lots of people singing in the corridors till 1am, when there’s a common room downstairs. I’ve stayed in many hostels (I’m 54, solo traveller so used to the youngsters in hostels) but the complaints about Mad Monkey seem to be true sadly.

• Lina (4/5): Es war enttäuschend. - Unser Zweibettzimmer war ganz in Ordnung. Die Küche ist eine absolute Zumutung. Es ist sehr eng und dreckig. Es schien so als würde diese zwar einmal am Tag grob sauber gemacht werden, doch es hielt nie lange an und Teller und Besteck mussten immer nochmal abgewaschen werden. Die anderen schienen schon länger hier zu sein, wodurch es sich anfühlt, als würde man in eine geschlossene Gemeinschaft hineinstoßen. Sie sind alle sehr einnehmend, und es ist schwer, sich zu integrieren. Auch die Badezimmer waren von Kleidungsstücken eingenommen, die überall herumlagen. Leider mussten wir feststellen, dass es dort auch Kakerlaken gab. Das gesamte Hostel war insgesamt einfach sehr dreckig.
• Kylian (5/5): Dirty - Location was good, bus stop in front of the door The so-called manager was not welcoming us at all during check-in and barely gave us any information when we arrived. The room was extremely dirty when we entered. The trash bin hadn’t even been emptied, which made it clear that the room hadn’t been properly cleaned before our arrival. The laundry area was a complete mess, and in the kitchen we saw cockroaches walking around, which was really unhygienic. On top of that, it seems that Google Reviews are being manipulated. Guests are apparently offered free laundry money in exchange for leaving positive reviews, which makes the ratings feel unreliable.

The staff is very friendly, and they organize many events throughout the week (e.g., free dinner nights, cinema night, group activities). The position is really central. 100% recommended!

• Jolina (7/5): Gute Lage und Preisleistung - Hat eine sehr gute Lage. In den Zimmern gibt es eine Klimaanlage sowie ein Schließfach für jeden. An jedem Tag gibt es eine Aktivität an der man gratis Teilnehmen kann. Die Zimmer sind relativ altmodisch gestaltet und die Badezimmer könnten definitiv sauberer gehalten werden.

Als wir unsere Wäsche gewaschen haben und die Maschine fertig war, wurde von anderen Gästen einfach unsere Wäsche rausgeholt und hingeworfen. Teils war die Wäsche auf den Boden und wir mussten unsere Wäsche suchen. Klimaanlage war viel zu laut

• Vanessa (10/5): - Ich liebe es hier! Ich habe einige Wochen hier in dem Hostel gewohnt und würd immer wieder kommen. Es wird mehrmals am Tag sauber gemacht, vor allem im Bad und in der Küche. Außerdem gibt's regelmäßig Events, wo man gut mit anderen connecten kann. :)

For starters, the location is great- there are lots of shops and a park across the street. Everyone I met greeted me like a friend. The staff were quite sociable too. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone staying in Sydney.
• JIHYEON (10/5): Highly Recommended - I went to 4 hostels in Sydney and I liked this place the most. The price is the cheapest near the city, the facilities are clean, it's a little cheaper if you make a reservation at the reception, and if you extend it by 7 days, there's more discount. I was curious about other hostels, but I decided to stay here longer because the receptionists were kind and all the friends I stayed with were nice and had a family-like atmosphere. Most of the guests here are long-term guests. I think it's because they feel the same satisfaction as I feel. I hope I can build more good memories in this hostel. I would appreciate any help you can give me :)

• Tiffany (1/5): Sadly dirty, uncomfortable and misleading. - It's a 10 to 15 minute walk to Central Station and CBD, close to a small shopping center with Kmart and Coles that open until 12am and park with buses at the front. The staff were kind but when canceling the room for me even offered free laundry service due to the bed bugs, they were helpful at the start but then told me I had to process the refund myself 3 days later after saying they would do process it for me and I would get back within the week. I hated almost everything about this accommodation, the facilities were all extremely old and dirty, they looked nothing like the pictures on booking.com. I booked a private double bed and the bed had bedbugs which is a health and safety hazard. There are only 2 tiny sinks in the female toilets which along with the all gender showers were old and filthy. It is also hard to sleep/rest as there is no soundproofing so you can basically hear everything everyone is doing. The hallways are filled with suitcases, shoes, dirty clothes etc even though there are signs stating not to leave stuff in the hallways. The door also wouldn’t open/close properly. The wifi also didn’t work.

With its lively atmosphere, fun events, and welcoming staff, it’s easy to meet people and feel at home. Many guests extend their stays or keep coming back just like me. I don't look for any other place whenever I'm in Sydney. Highly recommended for both short and long visits! Nothing to complain about, really.

Really appreciate that I could store my bags in the storage while exploring the city despite of checking out already. Also, the 8 bed sharing room was very cheap and located next to USYD and close to Sydney Central Station.

Bruit : il y avait du bruit après 24 h dans le corridor et les chambres adjacentes.
• Mark (3/5): - Had a flight cancelled and booked maybe the last available room in the CBD. The gent at reception was polite and helpful. Facilities were not clean, including a toilet blocked with waste. Someone came into my room as I was going to sleep and then exited when they saw me there but they clearly had a key that worked. The boards in the hallway creaked loudly all through the night as people walked across them.
