The location couldn’t be better — just about 0.5 km from Vatican City and roughly 1 km from both the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. It’s perfect for exploring the city on foot. Even though the hotel doesn’t have its own restaurant, there are plenty of great places to eat and shop just steps away. Public transportation is also very convenient, with several bus stops and taxi stands nearby. The staff were exceptionally attentive and always ready to help with anything I needed. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and well-maintained — a great place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome who wants comfort, convenience, and excellent service!

The rooms are beautifully appointing and spotlessly clean. Great storage area with safe, hairdryer, spare duvet, fridge and a big bottle of chilled water. The en-suite is stylish with a good sized shower with a rainfall head. 5 minutes wall from bus/taxi rank, 10 from St. Peter’s, 20 from Castle Sant Angelo and bridges. Staff are polite and helpful and if not there easy to contact. Oh, and value, amazing.

- Joan (2/5): - They canceled me out at 4:05 pm and said I was considered a no-show when check in 3-9 pm. I was in touch with them about the first day not showing up because of problems with my airline. I agreed the first day was nonrefundable. But I was in constant communication about the second day arriving approximately 3 pm. She texted me around 3:15 and told me I was considered a no-show. I called and said I was on my way and i was told there was no availability. Within 1 hour of communication I went from on my way to canneled. I told her that check in was from 3-9 on website and that it only 4:05 pm, she didn't care and not to come. That left mus stranded in a country I never been in causing a lot of stress. I had to find another room in another hotel for the same night i had already paid for. I was being taken advantage of the fact that i didn't come from Italy and knew I couldn't do anything about the situation but to gat another room elsewhere. When i checkednwith two other hotel managers told me that a reputable placenwould not have done that and should have honored the check in times, which meant that i should have been able to check in for several 5 more hours before being considered a no show. This placed double dipped by taking my money and giving the room way 1 hour after check in knowing I was at the airport and on my way 15 minutes after check in started. This placed should banned from expedia. I have been using expedia for many years and have never been treated this way.

- CAROLINE ANN (8/5): - The hotel is a "Boutique" style, which means staff are rarely available, which is a shame. All travellers like to feel welcomed and looked after, especially in the evenings and mornings. Roberto would "text", but I did see him a couple of times. The area is by the Vatican, so not central for most major attractions. My room was comfortable, fridge and coffee maker and a TV. The en-suite bathroom was clean, modern and plenty of hot water and change of towels. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The room was on a quiet side of the building, which was great. The hotel is situated at one end of a very long road, which was difficult to find after a long journey, with no signage except on the intercom. You're given an electronic key which gives you entry to the building and your room. Inside the card activated all electricity. However when you take it with you for the day, the electricity cuts off, not helpful if you have food in the fridge. Lots of restaurants, shops close by, which is useful as this is self catering. If a first time visitor, maybe stay more centrally, with more facilities. Very good for a short stay or working visit.

We tried calling back several times and no answer. We were stranded on the streets of Italy at 1am with no where to stay. We finally got into the place at 7am. We had to change rooms later that day and the room was filthy. Bed sheets were stained and very minimal housekeeping was done. Would not recommend.

- Catriona (8/5): - The apartment was in a great location, close to Metro and Vatican. In a quite area with local shops and restaurants close by. It was kept very clean, with it being serviced every day. Had a fridge which had a bottle of water in, kettle and coffee machine. Modern en-suite with soap and shampoo supplied. Very comfortable bed. Air conditioning. Due to our plane being delayed by nearly two hours, we missed check in which was only between 3pm & 9pm. We were charged €50 for late arrival! There was a lot of confusion with check in, having to contact the host via WhatsApp rather than through Expedia app as we were not getting reply’s via the app. Check in was only to receive an email with the entry code to the main building and apartment. It made it a very stressful journey across Rome sorting it all out.

- Isabella (2/5): - Unprofessional and Rude My friend and I were cooking dinner when the power went out. We called the manager, who was immediately rude despite our polite tone. She said we had no right to use the stove, even though another staff member had told us it was fine. We asked for help, and I mentioned we’d leave a bad review if ignored. Minutes later, she arrived with a man who quickly fixed the issue. What followed was shocking. The manager accused us of being rude in texts — fair enough. But the man began berating us, bringing up unrelated topics. When he found out we were Canadian, he said our tone was “Trumpism” and that he hoped to “invade our country” and have us working at Tim Hortons forever. This was completely inappropriate and had nothing to do with the situation. We’re two young women, and while we could’ve been more polite, his response was bullying and misogynistic. After this, the manager changed her tone, asking us to write a good review and promising to help us anytime — the opposite of her earlier attitude. I wouldn’t stay here again. The staff were unprofessional and the way we were treated was unacceptable.
- Dilnura (2/5): Terrible hotel - I booked a room at Les Chambres D'or in Rome from 19 July to 22 July. I was never informed that I needed to confirm my arrival time, and I assumed, as with most hotels, that reception would be available 24 hours a day. Travel plans are often unpredictable, and I expected the hotel to accommodate late arrivals. On 19 July, while traveling by train, I had poor internet connection and could not contact the hotel. I arrived at the property at approximately 23:30, only to find the hotel closed. When I rang the bell, I was told to wait outside on the street at midnight. I was alone and felt unsafe. I waited for about 30 minutes until I sought help from nearby police officers, who called the hotel manager (or possibly the owner). When she arrived, she informed me that check-in closed at 21:00. If this rule exists, why was I not notified in advance? She also demanded that I pay an extra €50 because I arrived late. I have never encountered such a policy, and typically, hotels offer compromises or assistance in such situations, not additional fees—especially when the stay has already been prepaid. The manager was also rude and requested documents I had never been asked to provide before. I did not feel safe or comfortable staying at this hotel and had to find another hotel in Rome around 1:00 a.m., which cost me all of my remaining funds. If such strict rules exist, they should have been clearly indicated on the website and communicated to me directly via email or messaging apps

- RAJESSREE (6/5): - Accommodation was convenient - close to Train station/ quiet place/ basic facilities available such as a kettle, mini-fridge, good AC, laundry if you require it, nice staff who interacted with us at the property and changed towels and made beds. several restaurants, shopping area nearby, convenience to walk to several spots. I liked the little supermarket for groceries and water, etc... Grom gelato and crepes were awesome! One negative: Particularly had to enter an unpleasant telephone interaction with "manager" who wrongly insisted on charging my card for city taxes (way above what was on my invoice from Expedia) despite my explanations. This was not fun at all. I received the refund after all and Expedia was helpful to resolve it. However not a pleasant experience. Refer to set table for city taxes for Rome for this property and work out the details and the currency equivalent ahead of your trip as I did to avoid any unpleasant surprises. Watch your invoices and insist on a receipt (I was not given one by the hotel despite requesting and demanding one), some properties are not registered with the city and therefore... you can decide. Please ensure everyone understands the currency. It could be significant when you have a number of people in the party and staying for at least 10 days. Other than that, I want to remember the positives which was at least 90%. The staff at the accommodation were really nice, kind, friendly and helpful and I thank them for it.

- Daniel (4/5): 2 days at this hotel - The property did not have the rooms i booked,the manager as listed in other reviews was very much combative about the reservations being wrong like i did something wrong when clearly by the reservation confirmation it was clear, they were not able to provide the rooms on the same floor as i was traveling with my daughter,which made the security for my family a concern. The attendant at check in was helpful but could only do so much. The rooms were were not in good condition, access was difficult, the beds were comfortable but thats about all can say was positive. I would not stay there again and would advise others to book different accommodation.

The location was an approx 8 min walk to St Peter’s square and was in the heart of very good restaurants, and a grocery store 2 min away. The hotel was quiet and we were given the codes to all doors in order to come and go as we pleased. Hotel provided daily servicing. The hotel manager gave her personal contact info to us and told us we could call anytime with any concern. I appreciated her hospitality and recommend this hotel. We will stay there again if we come back to Rome.

This was my first trip to Europe, and it was a solo trip. Upon arrival, (Jose or Julio, I can not remember his name unfortunately…) was so kind and accommodating. He spoke wonderful English and was a great conversationalist—making me feel immediately at home. They checked me in quickly and efficiently and even showed me everything inside the room and stayed for any questions I may have had. The room itself was so beautiful, and it was perfect for one, at max 2 people. The bed was extremely comfortable and the tv and wifi worked great. Everything was very clean and they cleaned your room daily. They were prompt when you called them, no matter what time it was. I had to call the manager (I did not catch her name), at 10pm and she was very kind and helped me with my issue right away. The hotel is very safe and secure and the area surrounding the hotel is very safe and located near everything you may need. It is also a very short walk away from the Vatican, and all transportation modes. I know that I am writing a lot, but I am blown away at how amazing my stay was, especially when there are so many negative reviews. I recommend everybody stay here. It was so affordable, and they truly outdid themselves. I will stay in this hotel every time I am in Rome! Thank you for making my first trip so comfortable and easy!

- momoq229 (2/5): Biggest Scammers - I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration with the service provided by Les Chambres d’Or. On 22 October 2024, I had made a reservation and checked in online as I was coming from a great distance, arriving at the property after 7.00 pm. However, upon my arrival, I was shocked to find the property deserted with nobody present. I proceeded to call the provided number, only to be met with a rude and unhelpful response from the manager, who outright refused to let me in, despite having paid for the full day (until 11.00 am of the next day). The manager's dismissive attitude and abrupt behavior left me and my husband in a precarious situation, with no choice but to spend the night in our car. This not only disrupted our plans but also posed a severe inconvenience, especially considering my husband's ill health and urgent need for rest. The lack of proper assistance and the manner in which we were treated can only be described as sheer negligence and insensitivity towards customers. Furthermore, I find it utterly unacceptable that Les Chambres d’Or is now refusing to provide a refund for the unused reservation, effectively depriving us of both our money and the much-needed accommodation we had paid for. This blatant disregard for customer service is deeply concerning and has left a lasting negative impact on my overall experience. I urge Les Chambres d’Or to address this issue promptly, not only by refunding the amount owed but also by implementing measures to prevent such distressing incidents from reoccurring in the future. Customers deserve to be treated with respect and courtesy, not subjected to such blatant mistreatment and disregard for their well-being.
- Shafura (2/5): - I booked the hotel after 7.00 pm and I was coming from far away. Therefore I check in online. However when I arrived at the property, there was nobody and I called the given number at the door. The manager very rudely told me she would not let me in. I still had a good 5 hours of paid time at the hotel. Then she hanged up the phone on my face. Me and my husband had to come to car and sleep there. Now they are not even giving us the refund. I would call it a theft of my money and time. I have never faced such a difficult situation. My husband is very sick he really needed that 5 hours of sleep.

- miriamsO9368US (2/5): For you own safety, do not book this "hotel." - Worst experience ever. The manager Mrs. Antonella lacks managerial and customer service skills that put tourist at risk. 1. The hotel website and the actual hotel are two completely different things. Pictures are very different from the real ones. Get prepared to be disappointed if you get a completely different room. 2. There was construction all around the building. It was difficult to find the entrance, we waited outside. 3. It has a very creepy elevator tourists has to take to go to the third floor to do the check in. There is no lobby, just an improvised space that worked as a desk. 4. Les Chambres d'Or, does not accept credit cards for deposit and city taxes. The manager only accept cash when in every other hotel they accept credit cards. 5. There is no refund. We tried to get cash but the ATM's in the area were not working due to the construction. Mrs. Antonella said it was not her problem and that if we didn't like her options we "should go and find a 5 stars hotel." 6. The manager kicked us out of the property when we did not accept the noise of the construction, and a different room. Another person slammed and locked the door behind us. 7. The No Refund Policy was applied to us. We have paid upfront for five nights. We tried to get a refund but it was denied to us. Our safety was compromised, we felt very vulnerable in our fist day in a foreign country. We spent the rest of the day walking around with our suitcases trying to find where to sleep. 8. be ready to read the perfect hotel reviews after my comment.
- Miriam (2/5): - The manager, Mrs. Antonella kicked us out and her assistant closed the door behind us. We lost our money (5 days total) and our integrity was put at risk in a foreign country. NOT A SAFE PLACE FOR TOURIST. Do not risk your money not put yourself, family or friends at risk. Check previous reviews and pay close attention to the complains. This place is not what you see on the website. The manager, Mrs. Antonella, offered us a different room and got mad when we do not accept it, then she offered us another, but her attitude changed. Her lack of managerial skills, and being the only staff there was a huge problem. Mrs. Antonella offered us to "go out and find a five star hotel" if we did not accept the room she was offering to us. Another red flag was all the construction in front and around the area, and she never told us anything about it. After Mrs. Antonella kicked us out, we were outside, very vulnerable and lost. This "hotel" was our worst experience ever as worldwide travelers. ***Keep an eye to the next reviews with a perfect score after this one. ***

We arrived and there was no one at property, we waited outside under extremely hot conditions for over an hour, I kept calling her but she wouldn’t answer. My rooms door never locked, room wasn’t cleaned, no housekeeping available, I ran out of toilet paper, had to use bidet but it was leaking ( I took pictures), the sink continuously got clogged, water wouldn’t go down. The AC broke down, room was extremely hot. Antonella was nowhere to be found the 2 days I stayed, there was no staff in the hotel.

I hope this letter will highlight the need for urgent improvements in your services and customer care. Upon my arrival, I was forced to wait outside the hotel for over an hour in hot weather as the manager, Antonella, was not available to assist with the check-in process. Despite numerous attempts to contact her via phone, there was no response. This is not the level of service I expected, and it was an extremely frustrating start to my stay. During my stay, the following issues occurred: Housekeeping Neglect: Housekeeping was never done during my stay. I found myself without basic necessities, such as toilet paper, and was forced to use the bidet, which was leaking. I have photographic evidence of this issue. Plumbing Issues: The sink in my room was clogged throughout my stay, making it difficult to use. I also have pictures documenting this issue. Safety Concerns: The door to my room would not lock properly, posing a significant safety risk. There was no staff available on-site to assist or address this concern, which left me feeling unsafe. Lack of Air Conditioning: The air conditioner in my room was not working, making the room uncomfortable, especially given the warm weather outside. Throughout my entire stay, there was no staff presence at all
