- Verified traveler (8/5): - A long-held dream of mine has finally come true: I have slept in The Peter's Palace in Moscow, which I had seen so many times whilst growing up in Moscow. Only recently has it become possible to see inside. It is both a museum and a hotel. The hotel is listed as 5-star but, it is not. I think it is almost impossible to locate a 'perfect' hotel in a historical building with such a history that also belongs to the Moscow government. When one enters through the main door you are greeted by a very unpleasant uniformed man who orders you to lift your luggage and place it on a conveyer belt that will take it through an Xray chamber (as at an airport). But the reception staff are much better. They are friendly and helpful, The room we were shown to was spacious and well-appointed. There was a strange buzzing noise, however, which nobody knew how to stop. It was rather loud at night. We thought the sound came from the air -conditioning, but when we switched that off, the sound continued. The cleaning was perfectly adequate. The spa was good and mostly deserted. The services in the restaurant and at the bar was extremely slow. The Sunday brunch included with the tour around the palace was marvelous. (We wish to thank Maria, the Palace Tour Guide for an excellent and interesting insight into the history of the Palace). Overall we were pleased with our stay in the Palace and hope to return one day.

The rooms for the visitors are located around that main building and are all at the ground floor without any view. The room i stayed in had some issues with the washbasin, the a/c and the smell. Also the use of ceramic tiles in most of the common areas doesn't match with the architecture of the building which is brilliant. The personnel was really helpful and willing. Beware of the taxi charges when called by the hotel. Fix the deal before you reserve it.

Spa amenities were great. I wish there were massages or extra spa services available. Close to attractions, few stops by the metro. We loved the atmosphere, not crouded and quiet.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - Amazingly beautiful hotel that use to be a palace. We stayed 4 nights in the least expensive room and it was fabulous. Food was excellent also. Our two complaints are: 1. Our room was never cleaned despite specifically asking at the front desk on day three. My husband had to make another trip to the reception desk to get towels. 2. The shower enclosure did not seal resulting in a lake of water on the bathroom floor. On the positive side, the staff were all very pleasant and the ambiance of this palace alone makes a stay here a wonderful experience.

- Jesper (4/5): Sneaky marketing - slept in the stables... - Have driven past Petroff Palace many times wondering if it was possible to visit or even sleep over. Finally found Petroff on Hotels.com, hooked two double rooms as per beautiful pic in the hotels.com image/invite. Slept in the annex/stables - the beautiful historical part - can be booked separately - making this a cheat. I travel 100/120 days per year and find that approx 20usd per person for breakfast, and sleeping in the stables is out of line. You can sleep and Bfast in the fentrenof moscow for similar or less. Your call - a habitual traveller.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Mediocre at best. - One memeber of staff specifically was very rude and disrespectful, we were disappointed that a request we had made upon booking was not seen to, and on raising the issue we were essentially laughed at and told we would not be able to afford an upgrade. I personally have never been so shocked by bad customer service, and I believe if I was rude to patients in my job in the same way, I would probably be fired. There was no apology or resolution, just a cold shoulder. I would not recommend this hotel if you are used to a high standard of gentle customer service. Being non-native speakers was also a challenge, so I would recommend learning basic Russian phrases to help out, or choose a hotel in the main city.

- Gramps. (10/5): Petroff Palace. A very comfortable hotel. - My son and I spent a very comfortable six days/five nights at this 5 star hotel. The hotel was an excellent base for us. The weather was very cold (not surprising for February) with daytime temps of -9C and night temps of -20C with lots of lying snow from previous heavy falls. Every part of the hotel was cosy and warm. Underfloor heating in the bathroom gave an extra touch of luxury. The staff were friendly, polite and helpful without exception. The breakfast buffet was very nice, served from 7am until 11am. The buildings are very impressive with an interesting history to match. If I return to Moscow I would, more than likely, stay at this hotel.

- Lucia (10/5): Beautiful building, histórico and very confortable - Surprising and intense! Moscow is huge, noisy, dynamic, diverse. The city is definitely growing fast. There are vestiges of the Russian empire, as well as of the old USRR. The crowd is also representative of this big nation.

- c (4/5): Great room, poor staff - All the expense on buildings and decor is not matched by an investment in staff training. Room was five star: sumptuous decor, heated bathroom floor, terry robes and slippers, but...on arrival, I was told there was no bellman and had to find room in one of 5 buildings. Each had steps and no ramp... I had to carry a heavy suitcase up the stairs into my building (after incorrect building I passed en route). Dinner of soup and salad took 40 minutes to arrive. The soup was oily. Next morning, I arrived for breakfast, about half an hour after smelling bacon, and started filling my plate. Soon after a waiter appeared and told me breakfast was not to start for another half hour...before I left the hotel, breakfast had given me the runs, which severely hampered my sightseeing. When I returned to the hotel my second night, security at the front gate refused entrance and sent me to back gate: walking alone at night (female) next to a park with low lights and no traffic...I needed a drink, but the bar did not have any liqueurs so I retired instead of waiting for them to find something. When I entered my room, it stank of cheap perfume or some sort of room deodorizer I had not smelt the first day. Also, a bedspread had appeared that was not there the night before. It had some stains of questionable origin. I quickly pulled it off the bed and called the desk to have the linens changed. None came. Next morn two staff members had a heated argument for several minutes in dining area!
- george (10/5): Truly a palace! - And treated like royalty. They helped us with so many things, going above and beyond. Theater tickets, car service, translations, even refilling my Russian SIM card. The staff is very personable and approachable. The rooms feel palace like with high ceilings and chandeliers. All the high end amenities, turn down chocolates, robes, pool and jacuzzi. The breakfasts were feasts and the staff was always so quick to help. By the end of outstay, they had our coffee orders ready without even ordering.

- Nikki&Tom (6/5): Not the best for tourists - our rooms was closed to the front and noises were too much. couldn't adjust the AC as they said its central! and not close to any tourist, restaurant facilities. the closest restaurant was a 2 mile walk and no english menu and they didn't care wether we stay or not. I wouldn't recommend it to any tourists. restaurant in hotel was extremely expensive and took them about an hour to deliver our lunch the first day we arrived.

- Trevor (10/5): Nice hotel, a couple minute walk from the Metro. - Very clean and very quiet. Almost too quiet to sleep, if you are used to a little outside noise that is. Very private place. It was apparently full, but never seen more than 2 people at a time. They speak English good as well. The menu is a little lacking for my taste, but it is open 24/7 for your convenience. Very beautiful and pretty place.

- Stephen & Olga (6/5): Good Hotel close to Metro - The Petroff Palace is a large beautiful building, the main part of the building is a museum unfortunately this was closed to us on our visit, 5/12/17 - 8/12/17 the pool was adequate but the jacuzzi was small and always full, there were no staff at all in the pool and no bar staff, the reception staff were rude and unhelpful, the restaurant staff with the exception of one or two were the same, The night time security staff talked loudly and were noisy all night, I would not give this hotel more than three stars even with the Palace.

- John (8/5): Historical hotel - - The original hotel was a staging post for royals and nobles travelling from Moscow to Leningrad. Catherine the Great as well as Napoleon stayed here. Hotel rebuilt in 1990s as a copy of the original property and is an excellent hotel All the staff from reception to the concierges to waiting staff were friendly and efficient Rooms were spacious and well equipped Breakfast was very good although our dinner one night was a little haphazard - there were 4 ofus - 3 had starters and all 4 had mains. 1 main came with 2 starters and the other starter came after the main dish had been eaten The food at dinner was average Would stay in the hotel again -its a good way from the Kremlin and Red Square but the Dinamo metro is10 mins walkaway and takes you to the city centre in 15 minutes

- H&A (10/5): - This is a beautiful hotel. If you want to feel a bit of the wonderful heritage of this land, this is the place to stay. We only had a short stay, so didn't get to enjoy all of the amenities. The dining room, staff and food was superb. The room definitely takes you back to the days of royalty. The hotel staff were very accommodating. Our Whats App butler went over and beyond his call of duty for us. He had excellent English and looked after our every need. We can't sing his praises enough. We had to catch an early flight and there was no hesitation to book the necessary shuttle for us. A very wonderful "end of trip" spot to stay for us, as it was a little closer to the airport.

We knew that the pics were probably the best rooms (they were), so when our room turned out to be somewhat ordinary (with a few nice old school features), we were not at all disappointed. The hotel staff was very nice and accommodating. There was a wedding in the restaurant, so we had dinner brought to the room. There was no service charge and it was a very pleasant dinner for a fair price. We ventured through the long underground passageways to the pool area. Very nice infinity style pool with an 85* F mini pool (kind of like a Jacuzzi. Had jets, but standing only). There was both dry sauna and a steam sauna. Steam sauna was really nice. Easy access to the metro (station DINAMO). We stayed on a Saturday night and most of the hotel seemed rather deserted. It wasn't creepy, but it would have seemed a lot more 'alive' with a few more guests.
- Max (8/5): Very near the centre of Moscow but feels secluded - If you don't speak Russian and feel the need to expose yourself to Moscow in small doses this hotel is ideal.The only staff who don't speak english are the cleaners-everyone else is friendly,helpful and ready with good advice if you want to double check your online research. My initial tour was perfunctory;the desk clerk took me on a very quick tour of the tunnels underneath the hotel linking to the gym/restaurant. She had a cell phone which rang off the hook and didn't really explain quite enough about functions of the room(how to lock the doors A/C etc).I had also been up traveling for about 28 hours by now,so I just filled in the blanks afterwards by phoning the front desk.Breakfast is a buffet with additional omelettes/cappuchino etc and it finishes at 11:00.Lunch and Supper were a disappointment; some of the entrees looked like side dishes and portions were paltry to say the least(although the ingredients were very good) a 'side of fried potatoes' had the sum total of one potato ! If you've been walking the streets of Moscow but was to eat back at your hotel,think twice.After a week of occasionally eating there I found the most satisfying item on the menu was a club sandwich,covered with fries I didn't order but enjoyed just the same ! The hotel is very secure;metal detector at the front door,24 hr security guard and your own self programmable room safe.The room walls are maybe 18 inches thick-you could be forgiven for thinking this hotel was in the countryside-go stay!
- Steven (10/5): A good place to stay - We had a very nice two day stay at the hotel. Due to its being part of the Petroff Palace complex, the security was very good, with 24 hr. guard entry, security cameras, and electronic dead bolt system for the rooms. Feel safe.
- May (10/5): Amazing - The hotel is located nearby the central Moscow and it takes about half an hour to the red square using metro. Hotel itself was very nice and all the staff was warm. We cannot forget the experience in Petroff Palace.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Felt like a queen - From the moment my son and I got there, until the time we left we had a great experience. It is a five minute walk to metro station, and four stops to red square. Restaurant was charming and food was delicious. Pool and hot tub was a perfect way to end the night.
- Paulo (8/5): Impressive facilities - The Hotel is very close to the metro station (Dynamo - green line), only about 7-10 minutes walk. From there you an go anywhere in Moscow. The neighborhood is safe but there are few restaurants around the hotel, that can be a problem if you decide to stay many days because the Hotel's restaurant is not great. The building is beautiful with an amazing garden. The room we stayed was big and clean. It accommodated my family very comfortably. There is a good swimming pool and sauna, my kids loved it. What they need to improve urgently is the way the staff treats the guests. They have no patience, very limited English and normally they don't like feedback. We spent 5 nights there and we had a problem in our room (a strange noise on the pipes probably) and they took 2 nights to accept our complaint before moving us to another room. It was very disapointing.
- Darryl (8/5): A very different kind of stay - We stayed here for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Pros: The room and facilities were in excellent condition. The spa and pool were lovely and the restaurant food was great. The staff were very helpful and flexible. Cons: The air conditioning didn't work in our room. The door lock to the room was a little quirky and took several attempts to lock the door with any confidence.

Although they were not able to provide an evening meal on the Thursday and Friday as they had a big extravagant Russian wedding they recommended a good restaurant nearby. As a bonus on the Friday evening the wedding party had superb fireworks and entertainment which hotel guests could watch!

The same cannot be said for the 24 hour service meals in the restaurant which both lacked variation and the quality could not be relied on. 25 % of meals excellent 50% ok and 25% poor. However I throughly enjoyed my stay here. Close to tube station too.
- Alex (8/5): Beautiful hotel with great service - I stayed at this hotel with a friend for 3 days. We came here by train from st. Petersburg and at the last minute called the hotel to see if they could have a car pick us up. The hotel was very accommodating and sent a car with no problems and even let us check in early since we arrived a couple hours before check-in time. The hotel is very beautiful. The room was very nice clean and comfortable. We did have a problem with our air conditioner not working and the hotel gave us a fan right away to help cool the room and send someone to check it out the next day. Unfortunately the issue was not solved but thankfully the temperature outside was not high and the fan helped to circulate the air in the room. The only other concern with the room I had is the shower head, I'm 5 7 and I could barely stand under it. So if you're tall just keep that in mind. The concierge spoke great English and helped us book tours in the city for our stay we really appreciate her services. Hotel provides free breakfast and the selection is wonderful and taste delicious, the restaurant as a whole is great with really good food. The hotel also has free wi-fi which is easy to connect to and has good speed. Also just an FYI this hotel is only a few minute walk away from the stadium that will host the main soccer World Cup game in 2018. My next time in Moscow I will definitely return to this hotel.
- Jiri (10/5): Stay in a 18th C Palace - The hotel is located on the premises of Petroff Palace built by the Empress Catherine the Great and used by the czars on their journey from St. Petersburg to Moscow until the end of the 19th C. The building and grounds are impressive, I cannot imagine a more beautiful hotel in Moscow. The hotel rooms are not in the palace proper, but in the lateral wings. The best rooms face the Cour d'Honneur. When we arrived we were given an inferior room facing a noisy street where AC didn't work. Thanks to a friendly receptionist Alexander we were able to change the room the following day. Then our stay at the hotel was perfect. Champagne breakfast includes many fine items, like smoked salmon and whitefish. Egg dishes are prepared to order. The hotel is outside the centre of Moscow, but Tetralnaya Pl. can be reached by metro in 15 minutes. The next metro station Dinamo is a 5 min walk.

- Laura (10/5): Lovely Palace Hotel! - We had a wonderful experience, from our arrival to our departure. The hotel is situated in an old palace, near a park. The staff were very welcoming upon our arrival, and ensured that we received a lovely room. We utilized the hot tub and pool, both of which were very clean and spacious. Our room was gorgeously appointed, and the wi-fi reception was excellent. The hotel is very close to a metro stop, which was convenient, as we did not have a rental car. Breakfast was included with the package we chose, and it was delicious and full of choices. I cannot give higher praise to this lovely hotel and first rate staff. A truly first class experience.
- John (10/5): Excellent value in a historical setting - I stayed at this hotel in July 2016 for three nights. The hotel had an excellent combination of history and tasteful modernization of facilities. The room was very clean and well-appointed with a modern bathroom complete with slippers and terry-cloth bathrobes. The wifi worked well and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was perhaps the best part of all about my stay. The selection was generous with a variety of fresh fruit, smoked fish, eggs to order, crepes, pastries, condiments galore, and all of it fresh and well tended by the staff. I also had one meal in the evening on the terrace which was also quite good. I rarely bother to write reviews, but my stay at the Petroff Palace was worth writing about.
- Robin (10/5): Maybe my best hotel experience ever! - This is a great place to stay in Moscow: close to the Dynamo Metro, very large and well appointed room, friendly and very helpful staff, great pool and hot tub, quiet and clean. It's not often that you get a chance to stay in a real palace where Napoleon once stayed. Commissioned by Catherine the Great in the late 18th century, the Palace was restored in 2009 and has only been used as a hotel since 2011, so it appears almost new. It's hard not to fall in love with this place unless you really want the downtown bustle and noise. The breakfast is copious and good, except for the quality of the coffee, and the restaurant food, although not exceptional, is perfectly adequate. It's hard to find a really negative thing to say. Maybe the gym equipment could be improved?

- Benjamin (10/5): An excellent base for adventures in Moscow - Spent two excellent weeks here while on vacation. This hotel is a great bargain considering its beauty and the services provided. It is a short walk away to/from the metro making it very easy to get anywhere you would like to go. The hotel itself is gorgeous, the staff is very helpful, even if your Russian isn't quite up to par, and the rooms are very tasteful evoking a classic style with plenty of space to boot. A great place to unwind and enjoy yourself, as well as a piece of Russia's history.

Considering the fact that central streets of Moscow are going through major construction right now, I would recommend to stay in Petroff palace solely due to the fact that it's stays separately in a quite block surrounded by nice park, you may not find any better location, quality service and quite night sleep.
- Richard (10/5): From Imperial Russia to the Space Age - Petroff Palace was built by Catherine the Great and was used by as they traveled from St. Petersburg to the Kremlin for their Coronation. It survived the great Moscow fire of 1812 and was used by Napoleon before he began his retreat from Russia. It was later the site of the Aviation Academy where Yuro Gagarin and many other Cosmonauts and Aviation Pioneers trained. The Rooms are spectacular and the Staff is great in what is possibly the safest hotel in all of Russia.

- Anonymous (10/5): Excellent hotel with great charm and history - This is an excellent hotel for anyone looking to discover Moscow. The historic character (palace built by Catherine the Great), convenient location (5 min. from Metro station), and very friendy, accommodating staff combine for an ideal venue. We spent more than a week in the Petroff Palace and thorougly enjoyed it. We initially considered choosing a hotel closer to the Red Square area, thinking it would be more central, but are glad we did not. With all the construction going on in downtown Moscow, we much preferred the quiet of this hotel. The location was not an issue since we took the metro all over the city. The limited number of rooms also makes for a more personal experience.

- David (10/5): Worth a stay - Petrov Palace was very interesting for historical reasons. It's only been opened as a hotel relatively recently so it was a pleasure to be in this historic building commissioned by Catherine the Great. The fitness centre, sauna, and pool were very good. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous. The only drawback was the neighbourhood which is out of the way from the centre of Moscow. However, the subway stop is only two minutes walk from the palace and a direct line into Red Square. But if you are reliant on taxis it would be better to stay a bit closer to the centre. Overall, I was pleased to have spent a couple of nights there.
- Sue (10/5): Beautiful hotel excellent staff - We have recently returned from a long weekend at the Petroff Palace. The rooms were gorgeous you actually feel like you are staying in a Palace. Everywhere is ornate and spotlessly clean. The surrounds at beautiful. Short work through the park to the metro probably 5 mins. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Restaurant was excellent and the vodka sure was too!! Excellent hotel I would thoroughly recommend it

We had great expectations from this hotel and all I can say is that we were not at all disappointed. It is a palace which has been converted to a five star hotel. The hotel has a sauna, Jacuzzi, swimming pool and a full restaurant. The breakfast is free and has a huge selection to choose from. The staff was very helpful and took great care of us. - Bryan (10/5): Hotel Petroff Palace! - This hotel really makes you feel like you are in a palace. My hotel room is huge, high ceiling, nice curtains, excellent bathroom and security is excellent. I enjoy the pool, sauna and Jacuzzi. The gym room is a bit small and they can probably add some dumbbells to make it more interesting. It is close to Metro station which is very ideal if you are travelling to downtown Moscow. Negative: well, the hotel rooms are a bit situated far from main hall meaning you have to walk a bit to reach the reception floor. Good exercise though.
