Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Loved the location. It was close enough to walk to the Colosseum, Roman Villa and Vittorio Emmanuel monument. There was a metro station 5 minutes walk away and some decent restaurants and bars, of varying prices, nearby. There were problems though and I think these should be addressed. Firstly, when I look for a place to stay, I always check the check-in times and the check-in times for this property were described as 1 pm to 9 pm. We were travelling from Florence so 1 pm worked perfectly with our 1230 arrival time into the terminal. I booked the room 4 days before arriving and my Expedia page updated to show a confirmed booking from 1pm. I didn’t receive anything from the property asking me to confirm my time of arrival. On the day, we arrived just after 2pm in blistering heat but nobody answered. It was some time before we heard from them and by then we’d checked into another hotel for the night as we needed to leave our bags and get out, not waste the afternoon. I don’t know why they couldn’t send a message via Expedia asking for our arrival time! We arranged to access our room the following morning and that went well but there was a terrible smell in the apartment. We thought it was from the large bins outside so closed the window and went out for the day but on returning we realised it was from our bathroom. It was bearable with the bathroom door shut but I left a message for Michelle to let her know and hopefully it’ll be resolved for further guests.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This property is an excellent choice.
2 minutes walk from the Coloseum and 15 min to the Trevi Fountain.
Brilliant location, bars, restaurants, "Valantino" out the from door turn left 6 doors down in my opion one of the best restaurants in town.
Loccando colosseo- Staff are lovely ""Michelle" and the sevice is excellent.
- wENG (8/5): - 交通方便.食店林立,很近多数景点.小心扒手.人挤的地方不要接近,酒店整洁.房间舒适.近大街.晚上很安静.75号巴士可到,
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Did not like that one of the owners came Thru and opened the doors of the rooms we were all staying in. He walked in on my niece and her daughter without knocking first. She heard him enter every room. Not acceptable! Glass in bathroom had toothpaste and scum in the bottom. We were told it was not for drinking just for putting our tooth brush in. It still should be clean. The safe popped open... came home from a long day of touring... it was open. Credit card missing since then. May or may have gone missing from the safe..: not sure. Just odd. Friendly check on. Helpful with airport transportation. Great location and wonderful place to eat across the street.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Linen gets changed Every 3-days. (worst).
NO Reception.
Waited outside for 3-hrs with baggage.
Worst Worst Worst Worst Worst Worst.
Please don't go. July 2019.
- Rob (4/5): - The property was very aesthetically pleasing. The website did not mention that there would be no staff there after 1:30 PM. We had to contact someone and wait for them to meet us. You cannot wait for staff to arrive inside the building. You have to wait on the street. We had two rooms. One was fine. The other had air-conditioning that would only run for 15 minutes at a time and then shut off. There was no staff there in the evenings to deal with the problem. In addition, Expedia said on the website but this was a bed-and-breakfast. No breakfast was available and no food or drinks were available for purchase. The one saving grace was that the young lady who came in the morning to clean the rooms was very pleasant and bilingual.
- Filippo (4/5): Internet not working - The place is at a great location and clean. However I was there for work and I needed internet so I expected it would work as advertised. But it didn't. Sometimes it was very slow, and sometimes (often) it was not working at all!!! We are in 2019 and we still do not have working internet?!?!? I asked to fix it, of course they blamed somebody else (the provider). But in the end it was not working. It happened for several days, especially during evening hours so it wasn't a single episode. Despite that the big room was very comfortable and clean, with very cool design. The room was advertised "with city" view but there was a pile of trash outside the only windows facing an internal court. AC was great though.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The main reason we chose this place was the close proximity to all the major tourist attractions in Rome. The Colosseum is literally 5 minutes away and also easily accessible through the metro. We reached Rome in the morning around 10:00 AM, and they offered to keep the bags though our check-in was at 3:00 PM.
The entrance to the place is somewhat hidden (or different from what I am used to as a hotel entrance). The hotel is on the second floor inside another building, and you need to buzz-in and get the main door open. One thing to keep in mind is that this place has limited check-in and check-out times. So you need to contact them before arriving to make sure you are checking-in during the working hours.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Fantastic location, literally on the doorstep of the Colosseum and only a 30min stroll to the vatican city, all this and shockingly cheap.
- Maryann (8/5): - This hotel is in the perfect location! 5 minutes walk to the Metro and 5 minutes walk to the Colosseum. Great restaurants nearby also. The staff was friendly and check in was quick and easy. There is not someone at the desk 24 hours and some times not even during the day. They do have a cell phone number you can call if you need something. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. It was small and with 4 people and luggage in the room it was tight. The bathroom was clean and typical European style (small shower, toilet, bidet, and sink) The lift was helpful in getting our luggage up to the 2nd floor where the hotel is located.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great central location, staff was friendly and helpful when they were there. It was nice to not have someone breathing down your throat during your stay but If something came up, they weren’t on-site. Rooms were a bit noisy because you could hear everyone’s every move but again, great location and close to most tourist attractions.
- Rin (10/5): - Thank you so much for your all kindness.❤︎
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Liked the locaton and the security of the building
- Greg (8/5): - This hotel is in a great location the hotel staff are friendly and helpful.
Great restaurant's and bars located close by.
- Joe (10/5): - this was a great room in an excellent location. The only reason I did not give staff excellent is because it is not like a typical hotel where there is staff there 24hrs a day. It is only about 5 rooms with the owner, Ricardo and a couple staff there during the day, but they were awesome and Ricardo gave his number if you need anything. Room was very clean, shower is small but great water pressure. Hairdryer could be better but it worked, bring your own if you have room in your luggage. AWESOME PLACE!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was well placed and the owner and staff were friendly and helpful when the airline left our baggage in our connecting city. All in all a good experience and a comfortable room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was pretty nice and clean the location was great but the air conditioner was terrible the room was really hot really uncomfortable.
- RonaldQ (10/5): - Excellent location , very safe , comfy , English speaking staff , service was great , it is a small B&B , not a big hotel , overall good place to stay .
- ss (8/5): - really nice little hotel and staff. The air conditioner and little refrigerator could both be cooler; the rest, excellent.
- I (8/5): Nice location - The reception girls are really friendly and helpful.
- CSalt (8/5): - This is an excellent location. It's not fancy, but it's so close to the Colosseum. If you get the suite, there's a kitchenette so you could get groceries. There are lots of restaurants and a market close by, and a version of fast food which had lasagna to go. It was perfect for my tired 13 year old. It's a 30 minute walk from the train stop Termini, coming from the airport. So, on a budget, you could easily get there from the train, but it's a 5 minute walk from the metro station Colosseo. It was 50 Euros for the hotel to arrange airport transportation, if you don't want to walk for 30 minutes.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Misrepresentation of hotel room. - Hotel was nothing like the pictures on line. Trash dumpsters are right in front of the hotel. Foul odor once you walk in the door. Hotel room was extremely hot, bathroom had grime and mildew, toilet top was broken. This hotel is no where a 4 plus and may be a very low 3.
- AronB (6/5): - The property was beautiful! Very nice layout, great pedestal bed in the master bedroom! Nice floors, unique ceilings etc.... it is located within 100 yards of the colosseum! However, the neighbors (not in this facility)were extremely loud and obnoxious, for while at night. Also, and this is killer, There was NO hot, or even warm water in the place! We had trekked all day in 95+ degree weather and were to depart for home the next morning….. and we could NOT take showers! The water was FREEZING! to top it off, the phone numbers we were given to contact management (they do not stay on the premises) were BOTH
"unassigned numbers", therefore we could NOT reach anyone for help! Suffice it to say, our 20 our trek home from Italy was not a pleasant one!
- Andrea (4/5): - Not and Bed and Breakfast as advertised. Breakfast is not included or available. Good location but a great deal of street noise beginning at 5:am. Front door lock needs repair.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Positive experience, close to attractions and food in the city. Accommodating staff!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good location - It is closed to every thing. Short walk to colocium. Facility was very good for the price
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location - 8 min walk to the colosseum, 5 mins to palentine hill, 20 mins to Trevi fountain and the pantheon. Also close to the subway. Plenty of restaurants and cafes around but don’t eat close to the colosseum because they’re a rip off!
Beds were comfortable (memory foam mattress) but other than that the room wasn’t great. Worlds tiniest shower, the bathroom smelled of sewage and the air conditioner didn’t cool down the room. It was summer and it was near impossible to sleep in the heat. Couldn’t open the window because it’s overlooking a main street and the traffic, people, police sirens, music, garbage trucks, etc were going all night.
- Bishaha (8/5): Good value for money - We reached Rome quite late but the airport pickup our host arranged did not ask for anything extra. He personally showed us our room. There were shops open nearby and we did not go hungry at night.
Colosseum is a walking distance away and on our last night we walked around it. Thankfully we met only helpful people, not swindlers as we had been warned.
Rome is beautiful. I have only one regret. We should have stayed at least two more days in Rome and in Locanda Colosseo.
- Gab (2/5): The Property Cancelled on me when I arrived - First of all this property does not have receptionists and if you do not call ahead of your arrival no one will be there to let you in.
The day of my arrival they told me someone had broken the bathroom sink and I couldn’t stay there. They told me they had tried to call me a couple days before and even had reached out to expedia to contact me. None of this happened. Expedia did finally send me an email regarding the situation an hour after I had arrived to be told I couldn’t stay there!
- susan (4/5): No breakfast - There is no breakfast. And you will not receive a refund.
- Grace (8/5): - Close to all attractions, shopping and restaurants
- Sarah (8/5): B&B in excellent location, great owners - GOOD: This B&B is in the BEST location for everything in Rome. We stayed with our 11&9 yr olds for 10 nights in a quadruple room. It was a double bed (large) and bunk beds. The room was small but comfortable, the beds were ok. Tea/Coffee facilities, sky tv with english options and wifi all made our stay more comfortable.
TO CONSIDER:
* We referred to this B&B as a 'B' jokingly as they no longer do breakfast, please check your booking company doesn't charge you for this, it was not the hotel's fault.
* We did have a small issue with noise occasionally. The hallway is very loud and you can hear the other rooms if other families/singles are noisy. We did have to ask a couple of young lads to be quieter around midnight so our children could sleep. That said, most people were considerate and settled down at reasonable times. The room we were in faced the back of the hotel and there was occasional noise from local pub/restaurants but this always stopped by 11-12pm. Our children are good sleepers so slept through this.
* Although check out is 11am, Riccardo kindly kept our suitcases and let us back in to collect later in the afternoon.
* Do consider using the airport transfer service, although more expensive than a regular white taxi - it's extremely worth it if travelling with child.
* The room didn't have much storage facility for 4 so we were living a bit cramped.
However we definitely would return and thank the 'B' for our stay.
- Verified traveler (2/5): STAY AWAY! - The most horrific experience I have ever had a hotel. Lack of room service, no irons, & belongings were missing from my room. I didn’t feel safe one bit. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money on a better hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location! - It's only 5 min to the Colosseum, lots of good restaurants nearby. Room is very clean. Owner and staff are very responsible. Highly recommend!
- Mike (8/5): - The location to the Colosseum is outstanding, end of the block, take a right, and you can see the Colosseum right at the end of the street just a couple blocks away.. The WiFi worked reasonable. Our view was to the city street, which included..well... the expected city street noises. It was quiet by 11pm.
Local restaurants were good, Ricardo recommended an excellent one a couple blocks away, and he was spot on.
The Room (#1) was a little tight for 3, our shower stall did not really have any elbow room. If you dropped the soap, you ain't picking it up.. LOL, but all that's quite survivable. We did not spend much time in the room anyway, as there is SOOO much to see within walking distance of this Hotel.
NOTE: that if your room reservation does not explicitly say taxes included, you will be charged the City tax, IN CASH, as you check out. (more than 10 Euro a day, with 3 of us in the room).
We would return to this hotel again.
- Sammy (4/5): Watch out !!!!! - They did not change Bed sheets while we were there for one week. Charged us Big TAX under Italy government, What I thought cost of hotel in Expedia included everything. I am disappointed of EXPEDIA. NO facility what so ever. Find some place else.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent location - A lovely hotel very close to Termini and Colosseum. The room was very clean and comfortable I would have liked more information in the room ie recommended places to eat etc.
- Ankit (10/5): Superb! - Located at a close proximity to Coleseum and Romam Forum. Staff is very helpful, rooms arevery tidy and fresh! Highly recommended, worth it!
- Christian (8/5): - The hotel has a great location, close to the colosseum
- Kathy (8/5): Great location. - Room was very clean and well appointed. Location was excellent as we could walk to most major sites. Several small cafes right next door.
- Yonit (10/5): Everything you need - Nice and productive staff.
Clean rooms. A bit small.
In the center of town near all the attractions
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location is very good, very close to the Colosseum. Staff is friendly and let me leave my luggage after check out.
- Verified traveler (6/5): It was a good hotel - The hotel is overally good. It has a great location. It is clean. We had a comfortable stay there.
The only drawback is breakfast. Although we paid for the breakfast during booking, they did not serve breakfast. It seems for some reasons the hotel was unable to serve breakfast to anybody during our stay.
- Lewis (8/5): Nice Gem in Central Rome - We had a very nice stay at Locanda Colosseo. Ricardo went out of his way to be available for anything that might arise. We had some travel disruptions on our arrival day and was going to be long past the 7pm check in. I was able to keep in contact Ricardo with updates on what time we were going to finally get to Rome and he was there waiting for us even though it was nearly midnight. This is a small hotel (6 units) so a full time reception isn't necessary. The hotels location is less than an 10 minutes walk from the Colosseum, Capitoline Hill, Imperial Forum and other attractions. It's also about a 10 minute walk to Rome's underground metro. 20 minute-ish walk to Trevi Fountain. We also walked to Vatican City which was about an hour to do. It's also close to Roma Termini train station. I've travelled in Europe many times and are accustomed with smaller rooms, but for anyone from North America that hasn't experienced Europes hotel sizes they tend to be on the smaller size. But there was still plenty of space for what we needed the room for and that was to sleep, shower and change clothes. We were out all day.
- Susan (8/5): Great place to stay - Excellent location, close to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Lovely room and nice reception staff. My only criticism is with the breakfast, we had to go to a café a few doors down the road and the breakfast was a bit limited. The croissants we had were pre packed and on the first day the only juice they had was pineapple. We didn't bother to go for breakfast for 2 of the days because it wasn't worth it.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Room to improve - Very limited coverage at front desk. We arrive at 5:15PM; the door was locked and the attendant had to return from home. AC worked one of two nights. Wifi worked about 80% of the time. Good location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very close to Colleseum but small rooms - Hotel is located very close to Colleseum, other attractions and train station
Small rooms. Facing Main Street - very loud.
Breakfast that is included is bad - the cheapest sandwiches/croissant and bad coffee (not sure how that's possible in Italy).
Okay for short stay because of its location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location close to the Coliseum and many other attractions. Extremely quiet considering that it is on a busy street.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Definitely would recommend! - Our stay at this bed and breakfast was wondeful!! Check in proccess was a little difficult due to us arriving about an hour later than planned because of traffic by taxi and trying to find a train station near to us as well. When we arrived there was no one at the desk and another family was also waiting. A kind gentleman who lived in the building let us use his phone and we called to figure out how to get checked in and they said since we arrived late we would have to wait an hour and half so they can come back. Since we had our luggage we decided to try the restaurant across called La Base to wait it out and I highly recommend it! Once he checked us in we were amazed at how beautiful our room was! It has everything you need, from cotton swabs, to slippers and even stocked mini bar! The room was clean and the decorations were modern. Wifi was also great! The best part of it all was the location! It is walking distance to everything. You can walk to the Colesseum, Trevi Fountain, Roman forum etc. We saved alot on transportation. There are plenty of shops and places to eat. Just make sure you call before going and let them know what form or transportation you will take so they can be ready for you to check in! The area is safe and very nice.
- renato (6/5): .good city location - Stayed only for a night, but we're able to see some city attraction on a half day tour.
- Family of 3 (8/5): Good location - Good location, but was initially hard to find. It's on a busy street, but the new windows blocked most of the noise. The room was clean, comfortable and looked like it was recently renovated. It's a great value.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel was in a fantastic location, just a few blocks from the Colosseum and forum. The room was good sized and the bed was quite comfy; the bathroom was a little small but perfectly functional. It's secure, going through 3 doors, one sturdy outside door, a very sturdy door to the hotel (up one flight of steps or use the lift) and then your room door. The place they partner with for breakfast was closed while we were there so I don't know how good it is.
- Rachelle (10/5): Rushed Roman holiday - Hard to find but worth it. A short walk from the Colosseum and the Other Roman sites
- jj (4/5): Clean great location lots of issues - Very clean great location, however they didn't have anyone at front desk after 7pm. our flight got in after that and we arrived at 10 pm and we had to wait in the lobby for an hour for some one to come and check us in.(we were lucky some one let us in ) the last night we were there it looked like same thing happened to some one else. the bell was ringing for what seemed like 45 min. owner was nice when i called him but he said he emailed us asking us letting us know when the had front desk person but i got no emails. Also shower was tiny and room was very hot even with AC blasting (they need a new AC system)
- Verified traveler (10/5): Hotel steps away from Colosseum - We very very happy with our stay .The room was clean and comfortable and staff was friendly and helpful .
- Janine (10/5): Belisimo - An awesome experience ! Easy to find ! The greeting staff was pleasant and professional! The room was very clean and well suited for the babies ... The only problem was after the first day whenever we came home the smell from the sewer was horrible ! They had places two sold room fresheners which did not mask the smell! Other than that it was great !
- Bradley (6/5): Good location to Coloseo - Good location to Coloseo and downtown.
A little pricey, but it should be normal to the same hotel with close location to Coloseo.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location for a verty good price - The location is right near the Coliseum and the Fori Imperiali. Very comfortable room, good wifi.
- Jennifer (10/5): Great little B&B with great service! - The hotel owner was fantastic! Very friendly and helpful. Close to the subway and siteseeing. Great food was nearby. We will definitely go back! It is on a main road so if you are sensitive to noise that would be my only word of advise.
- refref (10/5): Centrally located. - Great location. Right around the corner from colosseum, palatino and Roman forum. Ricardo is very helpful. Great restaurants and cafes nearby.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Outstanding location and room equipment - It actually called guest house, so it's not star rated. But not all 4-star hotels can compete with room amenities in this hotel. Very nice and helpful staff. Everyday cleaning. Tea and coffee in your room (free of charge, replenished if needed). Pretty quite. Breakfast if outstanding by Rome standards, but plan a second breakfast soon or you'll be hungry :)
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very nice hotel - Very nice hotel with walking distance of the Coliseum.
- Thomas (8/5): Noisy but nice! - Fantastic service, the staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. The rooms were clean (apart from some small patches of mould in the bathroom due to no ventilation). The beds were very comfy and the mini fridge wasn't badly priced.
Breakfasts are served in a small cafe a few doors down. The food is good but the portions a little small and options limited.
The front desk is only manned for half of the day, so make sure if you arrive late in the evening to email them and let them know. Otherwise you will be waking up everyone in the hotel due to the buzzer being obscenely loud! The front desk was also directly outside our room so when people were checking in we could hear every word, again not great when trying to sleep!
The location of the hotel is the best part, 5 min walk to the colosseum and most of the other landmarks are less than 30 min walk.
I would recommend staying here as it's well priced, good location and great service (when they are there) Just expect some noise when people can't get in.
- Pit (10/5): Perfect Location - Great location, Great stuff, Very good Breakfasts. I will stay there again - perfect location
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel - The staff there is helpful and the location is great!
- art (10/5): nice comfortable hotel with central location! - very nice owner with great services and nice rooms with nearby sight seeings with walking distance!
- Karyn (8/5): Good but could be a little better. - Many levels in the ground floor room we stayed in. The master bedroom had a half bath which is nice but the air conditioning was very weak in this room. Wifi needs to be upgraded. We asked for restaurant recommendations but never got to try as first night it wasn't open yet and when we went at correct time we had no reservations and were turned away. I wish we had been told these details. Hotel close to Colosseum but if I visited Rome again I'd try to stay near the Trevi Fountain as I found that area more desirable. Overall a nice place.
- Andreas (10/5): Excellent hotel with great location! - Excellent hotel!!!! We stayed for 4 nights and the location was perfect! Only a 3 minute walk to the Coliseum and Forum. We stayed in the "Apartment" and the size was huge with separate bedrooms for us and our two boys. Breakfast was at a next door cafe and was a bit "lite" = coffee and a danish, but this is normal for Italy. Rooms were clean with no complaints. Highly recommended!!!
- PG (8/5): Nice hotel about a block from colosseum - Stayed in Augustus room. Clean, decent size in Rome for 2 adults + 2 kids. Walkable to Cavour metro station, Colosseum, Roman forums and Piazza Venezia. Excellent help from staff for directions, metro, buses and restaurants. The breakfast place is next door. The food and service was functional (nothing great) and was open at 6 am.
Our room faced the corridor and any noise could easily be heard. The hotel has 6 rooms so not much traffic in corridor. The windows provide good road noise isolation when closed, otherwise it can be loud.
The hotel let us checkout and store luggage in a side room since our train to Venice was later in the afternoon.
Overall a nice, quaint hotel in a great location with gracious and helpful staff.
- maggie (10/5): Great location, very friendly staff :) - Hotel was great in a very good location. Breakfast however in the associated bar was very basic and disorganised. Despite this, the staff were excellent and the hotel was very modern and clean. Overall was very good :)
- yogesh (8/5): Very good - Everything was good except breakfast
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There were a few disappointing things about this place. 1. The rooms were very small, 2. We were told there will be staff at reception till 8pm but most night they left before 7, 3. The breakfast at the cafe downstairs is horrible, 4. The staff didn't offer to help us book or had much knowledge about day trips and things to see around Rome, 5. They also didn't really know about the area around the hotel, couldn't really recommend restaurants or nearby attractions.
Just some advice, if you're thinking about visiting the Vatican Museum, book the tickets online to avoid a 5 hour queue.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Would definitely stay again. - Hotel is located within walking distance of most Ancient Rome attractions such as the Forum and Colosseum, and even the Pantheon. It is also conveniently near to the Metro, one stop away from the main Station.
Finding the hotel, which is on the first floor of a residential block, was not easy because there was no large sign out front but the moment you walk through the entrance lobby and are greeted by the staff (particularly the owner) all is forgiven.
Service and room were superb and you get the feeling that they really care, which is very special. A very personal, polite and efficient interaction which made staying there incredibly easy and convenient. Would definitely stay again.
- Mary A (10/5): Great place! - This is an awesome place to stay. Very nice neighborhood and close to the coliseum and subway. It was a wonderful find and our family loved it.
- JAREN (10/5): Just visited last week - We four enjoyed our stay. The location was great for sight seeing and the bottle of wine, great beds were a plus.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Value hotel priced too high on a busy street - This was probably our least favorite hotel during our stay in Italy. The room was very clean but very tiny (and we are used to a very small apartment in Boston). The location was not that great - on a very busy street, you had to open a big front gate to get in and then use older elevator to get upstairs (make sure you plan to arrive when desk staff is working or you'll be locked out). Breakfast was very classic Italian - a coupon at pastry shop down the street, pretty much just pastry and coffee, not as fulfilling as other hotel breakfasts but gave a good feel for the locals. Overall, this is very much a value hotel and NOT a luxury hotel. This would have been fine but for the price we paid I was expecting more. Building / room size and quality was not comparable to the other hotel we stayed at in Rome for this price point. I would only book this if it was a good deal - I felt we overpaid for what this was.
- Eric (10/5): - Clean and good location close to Forum and Colloseum. Breakfast was next and door and just ok.
- Carolyn (10/5): Perfect little gem - Great location, beautifully decorated, wonderful bed, robes and slippers furnished, immaculate.
- PS (8/5): Excellent location for 2 day Rome trip - Great location near Colosseo. Friendly, helpful people at the front desk. Small room with the most comfortable beds in Rome. Wifi worked well. Continental breakfast at little restaurant next door was ok.
- Marko (10/5): Lovely small hotel - Very nice small hotel with comfy rooms and polite staff. The complimentary bottle of wine I received in my room definitely added to the positive experience.
- Brian (10/5): Very well located hotel. - Having visited Rome six times it is essential to get a centrally-located hotel and this was perfect for sight-seeing. Although typically small for a central Rome hotel room, it had everything you need - and it was a superb touch to have a bottle of wine free on arrival and small shoes to wear indoors. The young man in charge, Ricardo, was really excellent. The nearby café provided an adequate breakfast.
All in all a first class modestly-priced hotel which my wife and I would not hesitate to recommend.
Final point: have a taxi to/from the airport organised by the hotel; it is a little dearer than the metro but flying is enough of a pain and the extra is totally worthwhile.
- JP (10/5): Fantastic! - What a hidden gem! Will definitely stay here again when visiting Rome. We have stayed in various hotels around Rome and this is by far the best. Such great service and spacious rooms (especially for Rome!). The hotel itself doesn't offer breakfast on site but they provide you with vouchers to have breakfast at a cafe 2 - 3 doors down. The cafe were lovely and we received great service there (even though they were extremely busy serving locals their morning espresso!). Thanks Locanda Colosseo!
- Lisa (10/5): Perfect stay - The location is unbelievably fantastic. Only on the second floor, the amazing windows kept our room very quiet from the busy street. The concierge arranged a late night airport taxi, then stayed up late to rearrange it for the next day after our flight was finally cancelled. I cannot recommend Locanda Colosseo more strongly! It is right in the middle of Ancient Rome.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - only bummer was the garbage bins below the room on the street
- Julie (8/5): Sweet - Stopped by this hotel for one night in rome. The location is just amazing; walking distance from everything. Staff very friendly and helpfull. The room was small, but it was sweet. Would totally recommand to anyone.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Family of Four - Hotel was clean and modest. Not sure price per night is fully warranted. Close to some wonderful sites (Colosseum, Roman Forum, Capitoline Hill). Staff friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Locanda Colosseo - The was a good hotel, easy to find and conveniently located for the metro and central Rome. The staff were friendly and helpful and the memory foam beds were very comfortable. Sky sports was also available (in Italian) which pleased my son. The only drawback was the disappointing breakfast available at a café down the road.
- Steve (10/5): Perfect place to stay by coloseum - Quaint, safe, very clean. Air con, easy street parking. Great bed and breakfast and very affordable. Highly recommended.
- Chris (10/5): Fantastic room, personal service - Our stay here was great! Our family of four stayed in the ground floor quad bed suite, and it was fantastic. A large separate room for the Queen bed, and two separate single beds, ensuite kitchen, large bathroom and another ensuite bathroom. The owners were great at helping us out with a unplanned late check in, as well - thank you so much! A few people commented on the breakfast option next door, but we found them generous, warm and friendly. Yes, it's European style pastry breakfast, but so what -- when in Rome...Would stay here again in a second.
- a traveler (10/5): Perfect for a short Rome trip - We spent 2 nights there. The hotel was very nice, clean and well located. The front desk & owner provided excellent service. The free breakfast at the next door cafe was great, and lunch or dinner is inexpensive and delicious. We would stay there again anytime.
- Danette (10/5): Great time in Rome - We enjoyed our stay at Locanda Colosseo. Wonderful staff. Riccardo helped us with booking tickets for the Borghese Museum and also with correcting issues with the airport transportation company. Breakfast was very good, hotel was a few blocks from the metro station and we had no trouble with late check in or early check out. We plan to stay at the Locanda Colosseo our next time in Rome.
- Brigid (8/5): Good location in the heart of Rome - This hotel is fairly tiny, even the taxi driver had a hard time looking for this hotel (I think there is only a few rooms ( 4-6). There is no concierge after 8 Pm, so you have to open the main front door and the hotel door. It is a 5 minute walk to the Colosseum and also the Metro, but it is also in one of the main streets hence the street noise (police and ambulance sirens), cars honking even in the middle of the night. They have reinforced the windows, however the noise level is still annoying. A lot of places to eat just outside of the hotel as well as souvenir shops, banks etc.
- John (8/5): Great stay while in Rome - Due to the local proximity of this hotel in the heart of Rome, it allowed us to walk to the major attractions in minutes.
- Greg (10/5): Nice B&B 5 minutes from the Colosseum - We stayed two nights in the Cesare room. The room had a king-size bed which was comfortable, a mini-bar, tv, etc..., but as we were there to see the sights, we didn't spend any time there except to nap in the afternoon and sleep at night. This was perfect for our visit. The room was very clean and has it's own bathroom. A perfect place to stay if touring around the city.
- Laura (10/5): Nice hotel close to historic sites in Rome. - We spent three nights here in Rome. The location is great, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was helpful.
- Paul (10/5): Comfortable accommodation close to the Colleseum - Had 3 nights in an apartment on the ground floor. It had a small kitchen area (cooker but no pans etc, not that we wanted them), twin bed room, double bed room with en-suite toilet. Family bathroom with washing machine. All clean and newly built. TVs in both rooms and air con. 2 mini-bars and a safe. The rooms are all on split levels so no good if you have trouble with stairs and difficult with a toddler. Breakfast was at a cafe 1 door down the street and was good. Overall, we could not fault it. Excellent location 3 minutes walk from the Colosseum or Forum. Not cheap, but felt we got what we paid for.
- Carmen Pelaez (10/5): great place great location - very nice, clean and convenient.
- Kristina (10/5): No better place in Rome for the money! - We arrived several hours prior to our actual check-in time and our room was ready and waiting for us. Ricarrdo spoke very good English and immediately provided a map circling the hot spots along with the metro routes to get to each place. We went into our room and it was just beautiful, the bed was memory foam and was comfortable beyond words. We also got breakfast passes to a yummy cafe just next door. The wi-fi was high speed and worked great. We were within a 5 minutes walk to the colosseum entrance and you could see the Roman Forum at the end of our street. The street the hotel is located on "Via Cavour" has everything within walking distance, great food, gelato and plenty of shops right out the door. I would highly recommend people to stay here, it was wonderful!
- Michelle (10/5): Would recommend - My husband and I stayed here in March this year. The hotel was lovely, well decorated and clean. Good location- about 5 minute walk to collosseum. Breakfast in the cafe a few doors down was lovely- they also make delicious cakes which were great for an afternoon snack!
