• FragileWord (10/5): Spacious comfortable rooms in the perfect location! - We absolutely loved our stay at the DO Plaça Reial Sonder hotel! It was the perfect location for us- there was a little market and live music in the plaça each day (we were there on the weekend) and it was accessible to everywhere. We had room 11 which had a balcony that looked over the plaça, we liked the window open during the day, but as soon as you closed them it was much quieter. The bed was comfortable, the room spacious and the bathroom pristine. Also the staff was very friendly and helpful!
• Martin (3/5): Hotel and management have a lack of safety priorities for their quest. - The location was excellent but that came with the cost (as other guest have mentioned) of loud outside noise till 2-3 am. Upon arrival there was a light switch in the bathroom that was hanging outside the electrical box. We shared this with the staff and they sent someone up to evaluate the exposed wiring. That person took a picture of the hazard and said someone would be up to fix it first thing the next morning. Upon returning in the afternoon of that "next day" we notified the front desk that the hazard still was not fixed. This was a 3-minute fix ! When we returned later that night it still was not fixed and when I entered the bathroom after showering, I accidently bumped the hanging switch which caused it to arc. Fortunately I was not shocked with 220v of electricity. I am extremely disappointed that the hotel management thinks so little of their guest safety!! I wish they would have offered to switch rooms if they could screw the switch back in. I will have a hard time entrusting this hotel chain and the Sonder management in the future.

Die letzen Male hat alles gepasst, die Zimmer schön, die Lage top, Personal auch sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend und wir haben die Zeit dort genossen. Wir hatten 4 Zimmer, davon 1 in dem es dunkel war, da sich die Fensterläden nicht öffnen liesen. Die Zimmer sind etwas renovierungsbedürftig und die steckdosen haben auch nicht überall funktionert. Das Personal beim Frühstück war ziemlich unfreundlich, es hat ewig gedauert bis wir das Frühstück erhalten haben
• Jeroen (7/5): Geweldig verblijf goed ontbijt en vriendelijk personeel maar wel duur voor wat je krijgt. - Locatie is geweldig, midden centrum en overal dichtbij Het is verouderd zeker voor het aantal sterren mag er meer oog zijn voordetail. Lichtknopjes op de Kamer vielen er zowat uit en ook onderhoud bij het zwembad laat te wensen over.
• Derek (6/5): So much potential, but a very mixed experience. - Amazing location, beautiful building and decor. Front of house / reception staff were friendly and attentive, although they did let us down somewhat (see next section). Sadly, lots of the basics were not delivered. This was NOT a 5 star hotel experience. - We were allowed to check in early (great!) but then realised one of the 2 rooms wasn't the one we booked (no balcony). Raised this with reception and they acted as though the other type of room simply didn't exist, until we pressed for a solution. Turns out it had been closed from the system the day before because of Aircon problems. Apparently now fixed, we were moved into the king suite with square view and balcony. - Turns out the Aircon still wasn't fixed so, in spite of the facilities guy trying to repair it, we just had to open the balcony door by day and tolerate the warmth at night (luckily it wasn't bad in September). - While the above is not great, the real disappointment with this hotel is the food & beverage team. Very surly looking with no one smiling. One guy serving drinks at lunch was actually a bit of a smartass and quite rude (even though I was ordering in Spanish, not that this should matter). - No staff are ever posted on the rooftop terrace, meaning you have to buy your own drinks in the lobby (with my wife waiting 25 mins for one simple drink because of their lack of common sense behind the bar). - There were empty glasses everywhere on the terrace until I suggested to the bar person that she send someone up, which she then did. - 2 customers were placing their drinks on the ledge 80 feet above people's heads, so I asked a server who had come to remove empty glasses to tell them not to do this for obvious health and safety reasons; said he'd talk to his manager, said nothing to the 2 idiots, and never came back (nor did a manager). - Likewise, for breakfast on day 2, the server (yep, another surly one; not the guy with the wrist bandage, he was good enough) got one of our simple breakfast orders wrong twice in a row, in spite of us ordering it in Spanish.

В моих вещах лазили, вероятнее всего, сотрудница клининга. Деньги хранились в небольшой сумочке, которая была внутри чемодана, под вещами. Есть камеры в коридоре, электронные ключи - все видно кто когда заходил и выходил. Тем не менее руководство гостиницы вело себя максимально пассивно, для галочки просмотрело видеозаписи, пообщалась с горничной и на этом все. Будьте аккуратны! Не оставляйте ценные вещи в номере! Все кладите в сейф. За столько лет путешествий такой впервые у меня. Крайне огорчен этим инцидентом
• ChakerKhazaal (8/5): Excellent place, with some tweaks required - Great location in the heart of the Gothic Quarter. The staff is a standout—Victor is a total star: warm, helpful, and professional. Henry was also fantastic. Rooms are spacious, spotless, and comfortably cool, which was perfect for the Barcelona summer. Despite being in a noisy area, the room was somewhat quiet. That said, the hotel could benefit from better upkeep in public areas. The key fob to access the building after hours doesn’t work—you have to rely on someone being at the front desk to let you in. The public restroom downstairs also has a broken sink that hasn’t been addressed. F&B service needs work. While the team is friendly and helpful, the bar closes too early (11:30 PM), and you can’t order a glass of wine on the rooftop. That feels like a missed opportunity and probably comes down to poor management decisions, not the staff. Overall, a very good stay—I’d return. With some tweaks, this place could be excellent.

The room itself was spacious with all amenities we could ask for. I think price vs what you get was fair to best!! We didn't have breakfast so I cannot comment on it. Sometimes the plaza beneath can be noisy, especially in after hours (2pm++) we had a room that was directly above it. It didn't bother us much, but more sensitive ears might have problem during night.

Rooftop bar was fun but we would have loved to have the ability to order snacks. Location was perfect - lots of interesting things to see and do in walking distance.

The Eggs Benedict was great. The team that run it are fantastic, in particular Victor who was in reception for most of our interactions was fabulous. Great service. Will definitely be back.
• Guangxiao (10/5): - It’s an old building located right at the Placa Reial with unique characters: all wooden floor, spiral staircase, high ceilings, wooden window shutters, etc. but the interior is extremely clean, modern, and tastefully decorated. I felt in love the moment I walked into the huge bathroom. It’s thoughtfully designed: a connected double sink with vanity in the center; a big, deep bathtub on its the right end, and a separate shower area on its left. The best part? The toilet is on the very left end with its own door! So if you share the room with someone, one person using the toilet won’t ruin the other’s bath experience! This feature alone makes me want to stay here again. I wish every single hotel keeps this in mind. Of course, there are other highlights of this place: rooftop, sauna, the wonderful staff, etc. I didn’t have much time to enjoy but will definitely do next time I’m in Barcelona. The noise level is not a problem to me, as I grew up in a big city and am quite used to it. It might be too much for others.
• jamesaU5596SZ (2/5): Very Disappointed - We stayed in room 31. Very noisy. Window did not keep out street noise. Black mold in bathroom shower. Mold on tiles by soap dispensers. AC did not keep room cool. It was very warm. When we complained at the front desk they did give us a sound machine that helped drown out the street noise for the second night.
• Michele (8/5): Beautiful Hotel - The room was gorgeous and quite large with a balcony. Below is the restaurant where we enjoyed breakfast (not included in the price). Didn't realize while the location is very central and convenient, it's very noisy. This plaza is a party place all night long, so definitely had to use the ear plugs they provided. Wish the breakfast had been included in the price.

• Shahira (6/5): Lovely staff and hotel interiors (but the hotel should not sell itself as a 5-star) - The reception staff was very friendly and competent. The interior of the hotel is lovely - great decor, beautiful bedrooms. The location is very central. This is NOT a 5 star hotel and should not be sold as one. The hotel would be near-perfect, if it was a 3-star hotel (in regards to services). - Breakfast: is outsourced at Bar Tomate. The bistro/bar is not part of the hotel and is understaffed and/or overwhelmed by the influx of walk-in tourists (it’s directly on the Placa Reial). You are forced to eat outside, even when it is cold. It was overall not a pleasant start to the day so we only ate there twice. Bar Tomate is their only in-house restaurant and the quality is not 5 star. - Room Service: also outsourced. The one evening we called at 10pm to order food, we were told it would take 1.5 hours. It seems there is one place that delivers to all Sonder hotels in Barcelona. I cannot comment on the quality of the food because we did not end up ordering, due to the wait. - Roof Terrace: It would be a lovely place to have a drink and chill, if it were serviced. We were told it would be serviced between 5 and 9 pm, but that was not the case. One has to get the drinks at the ground floor and then take the elevator to the 4th. (Side-note: If you have a drink in each hand, you can’t easily use the lift, since you need to take out your key-card). The roof top is also open to tourists, which would be fine if AT LEAST it was serviced. I sincerely hope the hotel / the authorities reconsider labelling this place as a 5-star hotel, I find this VERY misleading. - it wouldn't hurt to update your TVs, which are very small for no apparent reason.

We were staying here when there was a major power outage across Spain and the hotel were extremely helpful. The staff here were great and very attentive. The noise throughout the night and early morning from the plaza was very loud but the hotel acknowledges this and provides ear plugs. It didn’t bother us too much but might others. The breakfast atmosphere ~ a bit cold on the plaza outside
• adam (10/5): - Placa Reial is party central - especially after a big football match. But the rooms are quiet, very large, and well-furnished and there is a rooftop terrace to enjoy the view from above (in good weather). Walking distance to everything. Exceptional welcome by the front desk - much appreciated.

• Antony (6/5): Disappointing - Good location The room light controls were a series of push buttons without any indication of what they controlled. It's hard to believe, but true. Exremely irritating There was no wastepaper basket in the bathroom,,,,,seriously.
• Saleem (10/5): Fabulous views over a fabulous bustling square in a fabulous city - The view overlooking Plaza Reial is spectacular. Probably the finest location to stay in Barcelona. The four poster bed was large and comfortable and the room very spacious. Check in time was 4pm - I am used to a 2pm check in time and this would have been far more preferable. Charging for an early check in was also something I have not encountered before and unwelcome. Also too many emails asking for a review even before I had checked in became irritating.
• Daniel (10/5): - Miriam, Facubdo, and Henry were outstanding! Housekeeping was inconsistent depending on which staff member cleaned the room. One thing to consider, do not take the taxi to the airport arranged from the hotel. The taxi company starts running the meter when the call is received. We paid 12 Euros more on the return to the airport. You can easily get a taxi on your own as soon as you step out to the street.

• Yadira (10/5): Central location and comfortable room - DO Placa Real is located in the heart of center of Barcelona. Expect crowds in the area but it also means that restaurants and other amenities are easily accessible. We found we could walk easily or take the metro easily. The hotel was very clean and provided everything we needed including robes and towel warmers.
• Farah (10/5): 5 star experience in the heart of the Gothic Quarter! - Wow what a perfect stay! The staff were absolutely amazing from check in to check out. Thomas as the reception was very helpful along with the rest of the staff at reception. The hotel was phenomenal, clean and lovely ambiance. The location is so convenient and lively. I will definitely stay here again!
• Salman (1/5): Very bad - We arrived at the hotel in the morning very tired from our long flight only to find out that the electricity + ac isn’t working in our room, we had to stay without air it was like living in an oven. We have complained to the main desk about this issue but no action was taken from them, they even took our fan without asking if the weather is okay or not! The elevator stopped working on the last day. The overall experience is really disappointing.
• Sarah (10/5): Lovely! - We came to stay here for our honeymoon! Staff were lovely and kindly provided a room upgrade and a couple of gifts with it being our honeymoon. The location is fabulous and really central. Metro very close by. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The rooftop bar is beautiful but cocktails at the pricier end.

• Jennifer (2/5): - This hotel was so terrible I left my prepaid room and booked myself into a different hotel. The lobby is so small there is only one sofa. When I arrived there was a couple passed out on it. The lobby bar was inaccessible because there was a large table stuck between it and a staircase. My room had no window! Instead there was a door that was completely frosted over and opened over a tiny courtyard so small I could easily toss an apple to the apartment on the other side. There are no bedside lights so you Either have every light in the room on or you are in complete darkness. Check the dimensions of these rooms. The last time I was in a room That small was in Tokyo in my 20’s when that was all I could afford. There are so many other great hotels in Barcelona at this price point - you don’t have to stay here.

• Verified traveler (4/5): Cockroaches - The stay was fine till night 3 where our bathroom had cockroaches running around. It was disgusting, for how much we payed, we did not expect a dirty hotel. We should have known something was up when we first got there on day one and the place smelled like bug spray (smells like bug spray throughout the whole week) we ended up telling the front desk. They didn’t seem to care to send someone to clean or switch our room. We had to close the bathroom door and seal it with a towel. The next day, cleaning came and even after they left there was cockroaches everywhere in the bathroom and under the sink. We ended up leaving early and went to another hotel. It was just not okay.
• Danielle (9/5): Beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of the Gothic quarter - Fantastic location, lots of great restaurants, cafes, & shops nearby, but the room was quiet, no noises coming in from the street crowds. The staff was friendly and very helpful, from pre-travel and throughout our stay. The room was small, but comfortable. We enjoyed using the sauna (private booking) and the rooftop patio, overlooking the square below, would have been great to have a drink or go for a swim if the weather permitted (too cold in Feb/March to sit outside!) No complaints

• Roving524951 (2/5): Unprofessional Booking Process and Poor Communication - I recently made a reservation at Do Plaça Reial powered by Sonder through their website for a stay in Barcelona. I provided my credit card details at the time of booking and the charge appeared as pending on my credit card. However, I never received any confirmation email or communication from the hotel regarding the status of my reservation. When I contacted the hotel, I was informed that my reservation had been canceled due to non-payment. However, I had not been notified about any payment issues within the required, nor did the hotel provide any follow-up or reminder about the need to confirm payment. Given that the charge was still pending on my credit card, I was under the impression my reservation was confirmed. There response was that I didn't have a reservation and it was only a hold which was released when they didn't receive payment and it's not clear why they didn't take payment when I had provided my credit card details on their website at the time of my booking. To make matters worse, the hotel is now telling me I must make a new booking at a price 40% higher than my original reservation. This situation is incredibly frustrating, as it seems the hotel failed in both communication and proper handling of my booking. I expect the hotel to honor the original reservation at the agreed-upon rate, as I provided my payment details and would have acted on any notification if the payment issue had been communicated properly. Instead of telling me that they will get back to me with an update within 24-48 hours despite me being due to arrive in the next 36 hours, I urge the hotel to take responsibility for this oversight and resolve this matter by honoring my original booking and price.

We had to place our luggage on the floor but that weird shaped room made it not possible so we had to place one if the luggage at the entry. Otherwise, service is nice and room is modern and very clean. The bed and linens are very comfortable. We slept well.

There is a pool on the terrace floor and it is very fun to drink something at the pool and watch the square. The hotel team at the reception is very good, they have helped a lot in everything. We especially thank Diego for the heart. He helped us a lot about everything. The room cleaning is fine. The rooms are cleaned every day. It is a comfortable, clean and safe hotel where you can stay with peace of mind when you come to Barcelona. Don't look for another place.

• Cymore (10/5): Roomy and elegant room and bathroom! - We LOVED our room (32) as it was removed from the plaza a bit and very quiet. The large room and large bathroom provided ample space for my boyfriend who is 6'3 and very muscular! The laundry service was easy and quick and I appreciate the green-friendly aspect of the card key needing to be in the wall for the outlets and lights to have power! Overall a wonderful stay! We came in the off-season so the rooftop bar and pool were there but with no one working. No fault of the hotel, I suppose; we knew what we were getting into when we booked. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend it!
