Guest Reviews
- J6538WFjamesr (4/5): Good location bad hotel - We stayed in small double with no view for five nights and quiet and a much larger sea view for one night which was very noisy from the traffic. Breakfast was 11 euro and not worth it. The staff were surly and not helpful. I had to pay 5 Euro for a plug and there was no free water in the room. The only it has is being close to the ferry and sightseeing boats. This is at best a run down 3 star.
- Jack (6/5): Easter 25 - Nice hotel. A little dated. Breakfast was good and varied each day.
Note that this is a review for ST Bayview as the ST Sliema was closed. We were moved without hassle although communication was poor.
- Amy (2/5): - The hotel room smelt like bleach it was putrid and ended up with a headache, we ended up booking another hotel room next door, the room does not look like the pictures provided, hotel staff were kind
- Taichi (8/5): - It was about 20:00 Check-in but the staff welcomed us in.
The room on top floor is little old and need some re-modeling especially on bath/shower and toilet area.(it works perfectly but it is out dated)
But the large balcony was best view in town. We saw a beautiful night view and a sunrise from the Valetta.
At last, the updating the elevator/lift could be a good idea for efficiency and for safety.
Surrounding of the hotel is great, many restaurant options.
- Creyaag (6/5): - Good hotel, with good value for money. The location is great, and the staff are friendly. The only negative feedback I have is the poor wifi, which is incredibly slow in the hotel room.
- Carlos (2/5): - Hair in the beds, smelly toilet nothing like shown in the pictures, only could spend first night here, we have to check out next morning and spend money booking another hotel for the week đ, no refund, just an apology, cause they know the conditions of the hotel but they're just workers.
- Raymond (6/5): Nice place to stay. - Room was clean and tidy.
Tv didn't work, safe didn't work.
Breakfast was nice, staff helpful.
Cheap and cheerful stay.
- Mrs joanne (6/5): - Amazing views but a very tired hotel, needs a lot of tlc and update.
Excellent location for Valletta, ferryâs and buses.
A lot of noise from lifts and doors all night long.
All that being said, the views from the room were worth while.
- Harold (10/5): - The Hotel is just yards away from various touring options, bus stops for routes going over the entire island, and the ferry which takes one over Valletta in a matter of minutes. And of course itâs close to wide selection of eateries and shopping.
The breakfast buffet offered is excellent. A wide range of hot and cold items are available.
- Alejandro (10/5): Malta Experience - Nice hotel
- ANNE (2/5): - Regular lift maintenance required. Only one small lift available which is not working each day. We left luggage in baggage room not trusting the lift for our early morning departure. No phones in room to get staff assist. At least we could walk down 5 floors with walking stick!! Never ahain.
- Mark (4/5): - Lovely location, basic hotel
- Verified traveler (6/5): Better hotels nearby. - Hotel offers double bed but this is not the case, its 2 singles pushed together and they spread apart. I specifically wanted a double bed.
Lift felt like it was going to breakdown, i was on floor 2 but when you push 2 it takes you to 1, i pushed 3 it takes you to 2... not sure whats wrong with it.
All the doors bang very loud, very disturbing. Put some foam padding around it.
Im a tall guy and for some reason the ceiling is low in the shower, i have to bend down otherwise my head touches it.
The hotel is very clean and tidy. The staff are nice and helpful.
Breakfast was basic, sausages was cold and undercooked.
- ahmed (2/5): - Need remodeling??
- Peter (6/5): Central - Good location in a mid range hotel
- MK_007_11 (2/5): Very disappointing. - A TERRIBLE experience. I booked with points but never had such a bad experience. The room was half renovated, on the first floor above the disco which means that it was impossible to sleep without ear plugs before 2am. The harbor views are not worth it when you are jetlagged and need to adapt to the time zone quickly. The bathroom looked like it survived to many earthquakes and desperately needed to be brought into this century. The staff was friendly and helpful but anyone has access to the luggage room as it is unlocked so don't assume your belongings are safe. Really not worth it!
- Guntis (4/5): - Like back in time 1980 and no efort to keep it nice in need of renovation!!! Terrible experience
- rosief194 (6/5): Good location - Basic hotel, rather dated but adequate for our needs. We had a room at the back which was smaller than the front rooms because Iâm a light sleeper and it was fine. Good shower, tea making facilities and AC.
Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was just ok.
The pool is a few minutes walk away which was very nice and the ferry to Valletta is almost opposite the hotel. It takes 5 minutes to get to Valletta and the ferry to Gozo is opposite the hotel too.
- Raymond (10/5): - This hotel needs to be managed from the top. It was only the lady in reception called Nedâs who calmed everything down. Her reception was fantastic . She saved the day for me .. she went out of her way by helping me on my arrival when my room had not been prepared property. She organised a team to clean my room properly She is so diplomatic in a stressful situation and even while dealing with my problem of mold in the shower area she was talking in several languages to the many other guests who demanded her attention. This hotel is lucky to have her on their staff. She is very patient with all the guests and in particular she is a treasure to the hotel and controls the whole area with calmness and informative attention and care the upper management are at fault here
- U5444MQdavids (6/5): Sliema, malta 2024 - Staff were very helpful. Rooms are a bit tired, particularly the bathroom. WiFi variable. Food average. Pool not on the premises. Fortunately, the aircon worked. Access to bus and ferry good, but room at the front of hotel is VERY noisy from the bar below.
- Robert (10/5): - Workers were wet friendly and helpful with all information.
Dining room staff couldnât have been any better⌠very friendly and clean!
- Rossy (2/5): - The cleanliness of this hotel is non existent. Dirty towels were constantly brought and when we were mentioning to the receptionist, our towels were swapped with dirty towels again. At some point they even brought us wet towels. How can you do that to paying customers, honestly. Because of the hotelâs lack of cleanliness, me and mum both got scabies from the room, mites that you can catch from fabric basically so we both got that from the room. They appeared the last night that we were there and they are insanely itchy and we are doing treatment still. The pool is not located at the hotel, itâs located at a different venue 5min walk from the hotel. They have nice views, though itâs overcrowded and a bit on the expensive side if you want to eat/drink something. The hotelâs location is good, as on the left are majority of the shops and restaurants, plus ferry and bus stops literally across the street. The breakfast hotel staff and one of the receptionist Niko were very polite and helpful. The rest of the staff were kind of rude, along with an older receptionist lady that was speaking rudely to her colleague in front of customers. There is a Macedonian restaurant attached to the hotel that I highly recommend, they have very tasty food and decent prices, plus the staff are very helpful and polite. Overall, that hotel is not worth the money, crazy expensive for what it has to offer and catching scabies was the worst thing Iâve experienced at a hotel.
- Rob (8/5): - The hotel is old in comparison with the others in the area, and shows it's age in some things. The lift was unreliable, sometimes not working at all, other times not stopping at the correct floor, However, the staff in all departments are excellent; attentive, friendly and very helpful. The room was kept clean on request and the breakfast options were extensive, well cooked and plentiful. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and I would happily go there again,
- Suzie (10/5): - We had an amazing stay. This location was so convenient to the shops, ferries and dining! The staff were very nice and helpful.
- Taylor (2/5): - False advertising at its best! Closer to a cheap hostel than a hotel
Firstly it states there is a swimming pool as an amenity, but in fact you receive a voucher to visit the local public pool 10 minutes away. Which is massively overcrowded as general public and surrounding hotels guests use it.
The whole hotel is in need of a lot of attention, from the broken lift to the broken fittings and furniture in the room, bare wall fittings and lamps hanging out of the wall.
No protectors or under sheets on the matress/bedding which are covered in stains. When I asked to change my blood stained bedding I was refused as the âroom service departmentâ was closed and gone home.
The only good thing about it is the location, and there are actual hotels in the area for a better price
- Thomas (8/5): - Place was great however that pool isnât part of their property, but instead an Aqualounge down the road where u have free access. Parking is also only on the street and like a mission to find.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Lovely place not the right hotel - At times it felt like student accomodation rather than a hotel. People playing loud music, slamming doors and the room was very basic despite us paying for a superior room. Balcony was tiny and dominated by the extractor fan for the aircon which blew out hot air making the balcony unusable as it was the height of summer. Positives: the room was large but sparsly furnished. The aircon worked really well. The view (we were on the 7th floor with sea view) was incredible, gorgeous views of Valetta skyline and domes also handy for seeing the ferry dock. Breakfast was very basic and the lift a pain as left waiting a long time and stairs very narrow especially when carrying luggage. The hotel is located on the seafront and very handy for the ferry to Valetta, busses or boat trips. Guest can also use the lido down the street for free (there is no pool at the hotel). The hotel also organised pick up and drop off for us to and from the airport for 20 Euros which worked well. Personally I think the hotel is run down and overpriced and for the price we paid I would not stay again. If you are planning to explore the island all the buses leave from Valetta so it may be easier to stay there than on Silema.
- Weirymum (8/5): Great Hotel - Lovely hotel, very clean and friendly staff. Good buffet breakfast with all the usual hot options - bacon, eggs, beans etc - cereals, breads, continental meats and pastries and good coffee.
Our room was spacious with room to store suitcases and it was tidied every day, the air conditioning was a must as it was very warm. The view from the balcony was lovely - definitely ask for a sea view. The promenade is busy with restaurants and traffic but you couldn't hear anything in the room.
The area is good for a variety of bars and restaurants, hop off-hop on buses, boat cruises and the ferry to Valetta.
The food in the hotel is good - shame the restaurant isn't used more, the bar staff are really friend and Manish makes a great mojito!
- 812_ukaszk (6/5): Not bad, but..... - Well...the hotel needs total makeover, the sooner the better. A lot of technical problems. Mould on curtains, AC not workng properly. Elevator is pure magic, why can't it bring three persons to three different levels? You need to wait until it arruves and then press your button fast. Is sound horrible, very noisy. You cant shut ypour doors without using force. I couldn't lock doors from inside (in two rooms). Generalyy it is not a disaster, but overall hotel quality is rather poor. On the other hand service and staff is very friendly and helpful.
- Rafael (2/5): - Horrible hotel and experience. Essentially a 2 star motel. Nothing like the photos. For this price I would suggest you look elsewhere for something worth the money you are paying
- Darren (2/5): - The hotel wanted a room damage deposit, would not give them my credit card details on paper so no had to leave a cash deposit. Not the best hotel visited will not be back.
- jelena (10/5): - I am the most satisfied with my hotel stay! They were so hospitable, so warm and inviting. Sebastian, Neda, and all staff were so accommodating and beyond informative. Housekeeping kept everything so polished, and kitchen was always fresh and delicious. This was better than 5 star service and you felt how important the guest is to them.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not somewhere I would stay again - I can't recommend this hotel. While some of the front desk staff will work tirelessly to help your stay be a success they have a lot to deal with. The lift is very noisy, particularly on the upper floors, it doesn't go to the correct floor if you are sharing the lift with others it can't handle a request for two different floors. There seems to be no safety to stop the door closing on people entering - on the sixth day, it broke down completely. On one night there was no electricity on my floor - bizarrely no one else seemed to be asking for it to be resolved. There were no batteries in the safe so it wouldn't function - maintenance were informed but 3 days later nothing had been done. On my final full day, I was asked to move so they could do maintenance, the room I moved to needed more work as the bathroom fan didn't work in there and again no batteries in the safe. (They wanted to upgrade me to a sea view but I was getting up at 3.30am for my flight and didn't want the street noise - as I said some staff are trying their best.) I am detailing these incidents to indicate the volume of small issues that could impact your stay. If these things wouldn't bother you then this may be the best value option.
- Wander26451550348 (2/5): Reception personal are very kindly and helpfulness special the name was Neda - They did not clean the room very well and the lift always problem everyday. Our room are very Nice view infront of the sea and close to the shopping mall and different beauty spots. If you want to stay not so expensive hotel and closer to the waterview
- Kerime (6/5): - Property was pretty average and needs updating.. The Receptionist staff were helpful and pleasant and assisted us when needed.
However the cleaners cleaned the room satisfactorily but tended to leave us without face towels on several occassions and we had to do without.
Otherwise all was well for us.
- daniel7135MO (2/5): Bedbug Infested - Hotel should be shut down or investigated properly. Bedbugs in first night/room we stayed in, we told staff (who did not look surprised) and asked to change rooms. Second room we stayed in was okay at the start but found bugs once again a couple of days later. There was bed bug catchers/traps under the bed which shows they knew there was an issue but was still allowing visitors to stay.
Breakfast wasn't great either. Only good thing about this place is the location.
Completely ruined our stay in Malta and would not advise anyone to stay here.
Staff said there would be a full investigation into the rooms but I very much doubt this, they clearly knew there was an issue and did nothing about it. Don't trust anything they say at this point, very disappointing.
- Gerard (10/5): - the staff and that old wworn out lift
- U4879WOelenab (2/5): Bedbug infestation identified as far back as Dec 2023 - I would like to draw the attention of all travellers who may be considering staying at this hotel and saving a few euros to the disastrous hygiene situation there due to bedbugs infestation (as demonstrated by the pictures attached as well as numerous reviews on Booking.com).
I had to move away from the hotel ahead of my official check-out to avoid any undesirable health issues. The hotel management was duly notified but in their response suggested that I may have carried the insects in my own luggage (I had none).
According to the reviews on Booking.com, bedbug infestation was flagged to the management as far back as Dec 2023 supported by ample photo evidence. Yet the bed bugs are still residing at Sliema Hotel by ST Hotels potentially exposing guests to allergy reactions and acute skin irritation at best, or a serious infection at worst.
- MĂĄrta (2/5): - The hotel was full with bed bugs..I left with several bites and the stuff was offering us as a compensation a dinner in the restaurant. All my clothes has to be sanitized and my luggage..plus my 4 days holiday was ruined. Not recommending staying there if you donât want that your holiday will become a nightmare.
- Anne (6/5): - Elevator didnt always work properly. Often glad we were on 4th floor not the 8th! Everything else was fine, staff were lovely.
- Hayway04 (6/5): Basic but ok for the money - This was just a place to put our heads while we was there for a week for us so wasn't overly bad.
Staff are amazing but the photos for the hotel need updating as the photos of the front are different to now. Our room 608 could have done with some attention, new mattresses, better base sheets for the mattresses and or mattress protectors would be good too. Attention to detail like skirting boards screwed on and screws showing, TV wonky, 1 less furniture in the room chest of drawers and wardrobe would be ok and maybe a slimline fridge rather than the massive one we kept knocking into lol.
The bathroom needed redoing maybe just a shower cubicle rather than a cracked and well worn bath. Good to have a hair dryer.
- Timothy (6/5): Ask if youâll have electricity 24 hours per day. - The staff is wonderful. The breakfast plentiful. The location excellent. BUT, during my three night stay, two of the nights I woke up at 4:00 am because there was no electricity. That means no A/C and no light in the bathroom with no windows. My electronic devices couldnât charge and most importantly, I couldnât get back to sleep because of the heat and non-circulating air. I understood a problem the first night, but when the same thing happens two times in a row, it is unacceptable.
- Bestintow (4/5): Needs investment!! - Booked in for 1 night, pictures on a well known travel booking site looked nice. Firstly my room did not look as good - with a fridge and no desk space. The room was clean and basic. Noisy at night my room 305 was on top of the bars etc.
Bathroom clean but very aged, in fact the whole hotel needs a make over.
Major issues were checkin while the staff were good they wanted me to complete a registration for including my full credit card details despite paying in full for all of my stay at checkin - I refused to share this detail and was required to pay 100E in cash - the receipt stated it was for a damage deposit!! I have never had to pay this fee at any other hotel in the world !!
The lift - no sign of a service sticker - the lift takes ages to work, on the ground floor the lift display is not displaying correctly. When inside the lift it only appears to go to the first floor that's selected not multiple floors. Only will use when I have luggage on check out.
Will not be back
- Russell (4/5): It's ok - The Hotel is well located , it's very close to the ferry and bus stops . It is close to decent shops .
The first room I was given was the worse for noise, the lift motor was next to the room.the mini double doors were right next to the room and they snapped shut with a crash .
The service from the Cleaner was A1 . The people doing the breakfast were good. The reception desk were not great, the guy who was working on reception was not great, he was serving me. Then just stopped serving me and started serving two women ...I asked to be moved and it was no. And maybe they could do it if I went down stairs the next day at 8.00AM . I had to call hotels .com to firm that up .
The WiFi was hit and miss which was a shame as the TV wouldn't work without it .
It also had a power cut but only on the floor I was on, the communication about this was poor .
- Karen (8/5): - The internet quality was awful and the elevator needed several adjustments
- Patrick (10/5): - Great stay!! Nevda (front desk lady) WAS AWESOME!!! So helpful with EVERTHING!!! Breakfast was good. Let us store our bags before and after checking in and out which was so helpful. Room view was beautiful. Thank You and hope to see you guys again!!! :)
- Joaquin (10/5): - The hotel is conveniently located near shopping/dining areas and across the Ferry to the other islands and Valletta.
The staff was all the time professional and friendly (special mention to Neda at the Front Desk, Sebastian at the restaurant and our Housekeeper Daniela). All made our stay at the hotel pleasant and memorable.
- Kathy (8/5): Girl trip - Very helpful front desk personnel. Great location! Neva tried very hard to get us over to Gozo but the winds were just too strong for boats to go. She went out of her way to help us.
- Marci (8/5): - Employees were the GREATEST. SERVICE WAS EXSPCENTIONAL at front desk very helpful with all our guestions and setting up rides. Price was great.
Wish there was shampoo and conditioner in bath. Kleenex would be nice.
Again service was FABULOUS
- GIANLUCA (6/5): - Booked for 3 nights. At check in hotel allocated me in a family room with 4 single beds instead of double one with see view as per booking and they offer a free dinner buffet in another hotel of the same company. Ok overall.
The first night power trip happened when I was drying my long hair and I did wait 30min all wet for maintenance come and on the power, caused by hairdryer fuse. They promised to fix the issue by the next day but when tired came back to hotel next night the problem was still there and I waited another hour for a friendly maintenance guy to come and finally switch fuse and fix the hairdryer.
Breakfast was nice at restaurant ground floor.
At the end of youâre looking for a cheap place to stay in Sliema and just sleep at night will be ok. Outside the hotel bars, cafes and nightlife. Opposite ferries and boat for tours.
Enjoy
- Rebecca (6/5): - Loved the sea view over to valetta from balcony, lovely staff, room & breakfast options were perfectly adequate, lots of shops, restaurants close by, ferry service to valetta & other tour boats close by. Smart tv in room so you can log in to netflix etc.
Disliked the thumping bass of music until well-gone midnight & noisy street traffic, so as a result, we did not sleep well. Pillows were lumpy, we asked for extras but none were forthcoming. Had a couple of powercuts and loss of wifi. Lift is a bit bumpy and stairs were very narrow. Corridor doors were slim and heavy and slammed shut whenever used, which also woke us up several times.
The pool is shared with 2 other hotels and is a 10 min walk away on the sea front. You will need to get a receipt for each person for free use of the pool, from hotel reception before you go. Pool opens at 10am and pool towels are provided free.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Average hotel - I stayed on the 4th floor opting for sea view. Very close to ferries and food places.
Room was average. There was a bottle in the shower, no label to indicate whether it was shampoo or shower gel or both. Hairdryer in the bathroom.
Breakfast was average.
The sea view faces the main road and there is a bar downstairs which is you can hear from the room. If you are light sleeper like me, you may want to choose the rear view.
- Rachel (10/5): - Lovely character property witbhn the fab ST group. Reception staff super helpful and kind. Waiting staff for breakfast very helpful. Aqua Luna poil club amazing. Food brilliant. Shame when windy but still got a tan. Only slight flaw is internet intermittent in evenings.
- Bostjan (6/5): - Roomy, at the heart of happening. Friendly and courteous staff, good breakfast. Downside - no soundproofing and therefore noisy.
- Rachel (8/5): - Great views. Fab location. Right near main bus stop to access rest of islands and ferries. Wonderful view of Valetta day and night. More basic than other ST hotelsâŚBay View has spa and rooftop pool, however same great breakfast. This area is noisier and older guests who want to sleep should request any floor above first floor as attached bar plays thumping music until 2 am on a good night and 4. Am on a bad night! Hotel assisted and moved me to second floor which was certainly quieter so much appreciated as all ST hotels fully bookedâŚ.even in winter.
Of note Malta is in full splendour ready to welcome all ,guests and reveal its varied heritage of which it is so proud but also emerging as a characterful charming warm destination.
On Monday I might have given a different review but I am entirely happy to recommend this hotelâŚ.perhaps just not the first floor.
- rob (8/5): - This hotel seriously needs to sort all doors in the vicinity of the lift to the rooms as the noise is unreal when a resident uses as everything echoes due to the solid flooring with no carpet to mask the noise. Apart from that a great place to lay your head for a couple of nights.
- Andrew (10/5): - Staff were friendly and helpful. Neda had great recommendations of where to go and things to do and made me feel so welcome. Breakfast was ok, continental style. Room was clean, comfy, and service staff were lovely. My only criticism is the bar/restaurant out front. It is offensively noisy- although I didnât hear a thing in my room. WiFi was rubbish on 5th floor, ok in reception.
- Leslie (8/5): - I had a nice stay apart from the WiFi kept crashing...
- Michael (10/5): - Thanks for such a lovely holiday!
Mike
- Isabella (8/5): Very well located and comfortable hotel - The hotel staff was courteous, the location is perfect, next to the ferry that takes us to Valetta in 5 minutes, buses to and from everyone one block away. Room didnât face the street, so it was quiet. Breakfast was also good, overall a stay I recommend!
- Alan (2/5): - Most of the staff were good, helpful and courteous. Unfortunately, we did have a problem with bed bugs in our room, (we photographed one of these creatures, bloated with blood!) My wife had been bitten multiple times during the night, requiring her to attend one of the local emergency medical centres. The doctor confirmed it was bed bugs and prescribed medication. Subsequently, we raised the issue at reception, whereupon getting direct communication with a manager proved difficult. The manager did move us quickly to an upgraded room without carpets at no extra charge. He left his business card, showing email, mobile number, even WhatsApp, should we require any further assistance. However, when we sent messages there was no acknowledgement that heâd received them and there was never any reply. He did call at our room on two occasions after the initial problem and lastly with a pest control expert who stated he hadnât found any evidence of bed bugs, but had treated the room in any case. There was considerable reluctance to accept it was bed bugs and to offer any compensation. In fact, he asked if we had come from Paris and suggested we had brought them into the hotel. As a result of the medication, going out in the sun would not be possible for my wife and obviously seriously impacted our holiday plans. On discussing this further with the manager, he reluctantly gave us vouchers for two dinners. Hotel does not merit 3 stars and itâs appearance and facilities showing neglect.
- Angela (4/5): - I booked this hotel mainly for the pool amenity and I was very dissapointed that the pool was not onsite and was actually a public pool. The hotel offers complimentary access to the public pool called Aqualuna, which is a 5 minute walk from the property. I was not expecting that. The property also needs some maintenance, there was rust under the bathroom sink and the walls on the terrace had paint chipping off. The breakfast was good and the staff was very friendly. There are good transport links on the hotel street to Valletta and other places on the island.
- Mandy (2/5): - Dirty room (#706), cursorily cleaned only. All fixtures and fittings old and very worn, room maintenance and redecoration way overdue. Bathroom particularly poor eg shower tray marked and discoloured from age. Grouting marked. Even bathroom bin old, marked, rusted? Smelly.
Dirty faded curtains, rust on fridge door, filthy balcony furniture, skirting boards away from walls and looked like never cleaned.
AC didnât work at first (needed to get replacement batteries for controller from reception), initially given key to another room (another return to reception to have rectified, no telephone in room), no channels provided on TV, no water provided in room.
Lift old, unsafe, dirty, doesn't function properly (call it to floor 7, it stops at floor 6, no-one tells you this so you keep waiting and pressing until you realise!).
No wonder no-one shows you to your room!
Wi-fi in room poor, no wi-fi in breakfast room.
Another guest approached me to share having similar issues with their room on floor 7, so there appears to be a general under investment.
Booked and paid in advance for three nights or would not have stayed.
Noisy as over busy street with bar on street immediately in front of hotel. Doors slamming loudly at all hours.
We curtailed our time in the actual room, for which we also overpaid.
Reported initial concerns to Expedia via 'check-in' email, not even acknowledged.
Breakfast room is like a canteen, not a great setting, but breakfast itself was fine.
- Mark (4/5): - I was given the worst room in the hotelâfirst floor, right above the restaurant/bar on the sidewalk in front of the hotel. I did not figure out whether there was AC or not, so I kept the window ajar. The noise, the thumping music last until at least midnight every night. Staff noticed my noise complaint and promised to move me to another room but never did. I have moved to another hotel.
- Jose (2/5): - Upon arriving at the Silema Hotel, the receptionists were so unhelpful when they saw us struggling to open the door with the wheelchair and our luggage and even so they did not offer any help at all just kept on looking at us, although we clearly requested an accessible room for my daughter who is a wheelchair user we were allocated on the seventh floor in a dirty room with a fridge full of rust at the bottom, the pillows were yellow of dirt, the balcony was dirty with the fan unit sitting there. The bathroom was small and the wheelchair will not even manage to get inside. When talking to the hotel manager she was surprised we were checked in the hotel as she was explicit on saying âthere are not accessible rooms in the hotelâ. We had to find another hotel at the last minute with all the stress associated on moving around a person on a wheelchair. Terrible experience!
- Suchada (4/5): - The hotel is in good location but everything was so old. Bed. Bathtub. Minibar etc.
The toaster in breakfast room made brutally loud noise you cant escape from. The pool seems nice but it isnt at the hotel but at the building blocks aways. It isnt worth what you pay.
- James (10/5): Absolutely Perfect Location. - This gem of a hotel is in the absolute perfection location. Right near 2 different bus stops which can take you anywhere on the island for 2 euro (Including Valletta and the airport) and also directly across the street from where to catch the Ferry to see Gozo/Blue Lagoon.
It's on one of the most bustling strips in the country - yet the room is still quiet when you turn in for the night. Numerous cafes, bars, restaurants and shops within a two minute walk.
Staff is SUPER friendly and knowledgable. They'll help you plan your activities. Breakfast was good.
The pool is actually not on the property. It's about 5 minutes walking, but it's beautiful and they have towels/chairs there.
Would highly recommend this space for your vacation in Malta.
- Keren (8/5): - Staff are friendly and helpful, and the view from the room was exceptional. Location is brilliant and there's loads to do in the area. Unfortunately the lift had a mind of its own and would never take us to the correct floor - we eventually learned to press 6 when we wanted 5, and the morning we left we called the lift, then went down a floor on the stairs to bring it up 1 more (by pressing 6) then we could load our luggage. Also we left before breakfast time so cant comment on that. We had been promised a travel pack of breakfast but there seemed to be a mix up and it wasnt ready when we left. We loved it though, thank you :)
- Chris (4/5): - Tje actual hotel vs. Images on expedia differ greatly. The pool area is a few mins down the road. Hotel located on a very busy noisy strip. Little to no soundproofing from loose fitting balcony sliding door, almost like sleeping outside. Room in need if repair. Lift door clised as soon as it openned and felt unsafe. Avoid, better options are in the area. Closer to the feel of a hostel than a hotel.
- Hana (8/5): - It is an OK place, conveniently positioned with amazing views of the bay, however requires updating. Breakfast was good, staff friendly. The pool available for guests is spectacular, just a little walk from the hotel.
- Rhys (4/5): - Payed extra for the sea view which was great, unfortunately it was the second floor sea view, being right above a bar. That coupled with the very busy road meant an early night that we needed for our flight was not possible. On top of this someone set the fire alarm off in the early hours. Room was big but bathroom was dated and a bit rusty in places
- Rebecca (8/5): - The staff were very helpful and polite. The room was clean although a little bit tired in places. The location was very convenient
- Ameet (4/5): - 1. I did not stay at this hotel - was told booking had been changed to ST Bayview when I tried to check-in
2. Poor quality rooms with AC not working properly but no-one actually doing anything about it
3. Badly equipped bathrooms - there was nowhere to even put your tooth brush!
4. Reception staff, in particular, were poor in responding to issues
5. The manager I spoke to seemed shocked by my complaints and really was not very receptive
- Thomas (4/5): - My room had big empty area with a spot on the rug. It never look vacuumed. There was a smell in the room. I kept the door open for the entire stay. The elevator jolted on every floor. The staff was nice. The breakfast was okay.
- Carmela (2/5): - Where do I start! The first room that we were given nothing was working. The wifi, the air conditioning, and the fridge. We had them change our room. The other room was more acceptable but missing toiletries. The location was good but too much of a party scene. Music going until past 1 am. Very hard to get sleep. I would never go back to that hotel ever!!!
- Maria (8/5): -
The Expedia description of the room I had booked, said: "city view". In actual fact, my "view" was a wall. In addition, the noise from a building site immediately next to my room, was extremely loud, and carried on, intermittently, all day. That was my first day. I asked at the reception if they could give me at least a quiet room, after finding out, that there was no such thing as a city view available in this hotel. After much deliberation, I received a quiet room on the next day. But it involved a lot of time and effort on my part. The receptionist, Zulema, as well as the housekeeper, Daniela, were extremely friendly and helpful, and did everything possible to help. After 5 days, I was offered to move to a room with sea view, which made a world of difference, and I enjoyed another 5 days there, with a wonderful view towards Valletta, as well as the seafront of Sliema, which is always busy with people walking, jogging, or just sitting and enjoying the view... The music from the restaurant right in front of the hotel can get a bit noisy, but with a closed balcony door, I could sleep no problem. I would recommend paying the extra price for a room with "sea view" any time, because it is worth it. The buffet breakfast is good, with "english" or "continental" choices available. All the staff of the hotel was friendly, helpful and efficient. Thank you. One other thing every guest will experience, is the old elevator, because it has a mind of its own! You need a lot of patience!

- Elizabeth Paterson (8/5): - The hotel was perfectly situated - on the harbour and a 5 minute walk to ferries to Valetta. Lots of good food options too. Local buses passed through frequently.
Staff were excellent and very friendly. They kindly and efficiently helped me cope when the airport shuttle did not arrive. I would happily stay there again.
- Andrew (4/5): - The carpet in my room was disgusting. I took off my shoes at the door and then took off my socks and prepared for bed. I only walked around a bit and as i slipped into bed I noticed the bottoms of my feet were black. I washed them and for the rest of the stay i wore shoes around and didnât let anything touch the carpet.
- Theodore (8/5): - Overall the hotel was good value and a good location. The room was okay and I had no issues. The included breakfast was very good. It had bacon, sausage, fried eggs, scrambled eggs and boiled eggs. There was also fruit, pastry and plenty of beverage choices.
- Carly (2/5): - I canât stress enough not to book this place. I never write reviews, but my experience here was so poor I have to. Two words. Bed bugs my partner got bedbugs literally the first night we were there, I, however did not get bed bugs as for some reason our room they gave us had two different beds (which I was not happy with either). After a couple days of unknown bites, we went to the front desk, and they moved us to a different room but didnât escalate the issue further despite our request. When we moved to a different room, it was the exact same type of room, however, it was significantly cleaner and nicer. We continued to stay in the room for over a week, and my partner was waking up with no new bites. We seeker medical attention, and it was confirmed that he did have bedbugs indeed. We then went to the front desk again, and insisted that we need to speak to a manager. The manager for the last few nights moved us to a very luxurious condo. She also gave us a free lunch on a set menu. I told the manager I was absolutely expecting some sort of compensation in the form of money. I was informed that our compensation was the three days we had in this condo and a free lunch. She had informed me that she couldnât do anything further as we booked through a third party (Expedia). I then contacted Expedia, and Expedia told me that the manager had sent a email to them that I was already compensated. I canât express enough how angry I am with this hotel. Thousand of dollars for bed bugâŚ
- Patrick (8/5): Excellent - Excellent place to stay
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room was dark and needed updating along with the bathroom.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Avoid - Reception - poor - rather than running your credit card for a deposits, they want you to write down your credit card on a piece of paper - completely ridiculous - the entrance of the hotel is hidden, the hotel overall is dirty - the breakfast is poor (and that is kind) - the elevator works occasionally - the mechanical noise from elevator wakes you up in the middle of the night - the pool is not in their building you have to go elsewhere - the photos are not this hotel - the rooms are old and worn down - just donât have a good thing to say about this hotel. Will avoid like the plague in the future
- Jonathan (4/5): - The property has no parking facilities, if you have a car prepare to walk a fair bit l. The property is what I would call cheap and cheerful.
Breakfast was a good spread but average quality, the room was clean but bare, no soap, had to ask for that. No extra covers for warmth and only one pillow.
Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.
- Julie (8/5): Magnificent View, Tired Hotel - This is the second time we have stayed at the Sliema Hotel. Nothing has changed over the last few years. The view from the hotel is second to none. However, the condition of the hotel is lacking. It is in need of some serious soft refurb (in particular, carpets, curtains and bed linen. The rooms are comfortable and clean enough, but needs to be updated. The WiFi is a bit patchy too (we were on the 4th floor). Breakfast was very good (hot and cold selections were available). Staff were always friendly and helpful. The hotel is perfectly located on the strand with direct access to buses, cruises and ferries. There is one issue which could put some people off - the noise from the street below - traffic AND party goers at the bars. Even on the 4th floor, the noise can be a problem. However, as stated before, the view is to die for, so any shortcomings could be overlooked. Knowing all this, we would definitely stay again.
- Brit Unni (8/5): - It was a long weekend. Convient place to stay.
- Kevin (6/5): A once great hotel. - The hotel is now very tired. Views from the from facing rooms are great but it no longer makes up for the deteriorating building.
- Ronald C. (10/5): Exceeded expectations - Very pleasantly surprised. Excellent location a short walk to the Sliema Ferry. Staff are very helpful. The room has all the necessary amenities although providing bottled water would be useful. Beds are comfortable, but pillows could be firmer Room carpet and tile are worn and need replacement. Excellent breakfast with numerous tasty choices. Coffee maker provided in the room. Overall, an excellent budget minded value
- Stephen (10/5): - the location is perfect, its close to shops, restaurants , boat trips and buses. Can be a bit noisy at night but overall its an excellent hotel and not too expensive. The staff is very helpful and makes you very welcome.
- S (10/5): Party town - The hotel was very nice. Staff were friendly and helpfull. But i didnt realise that Silema was so busy and such a party place.. so noisey from the the harbour with the booze cruises and all the bars. Then the bin men collecting all the rubbish and then the bars stocking up again. So no sleep. But the views from my room were stunning.
- Joy (4/5): Good location and large balcony. - The location was the best thing about this hotel.
Think it is ready for renovating.
- Yvonne (6/5): - In a good location.right near buses & ferry to Valletta. Extremely disappointed with room. I booked the one with terrace on 8th floor,m the most expensive rate. Amazing views. The bed was two single beds pushed together. So pretty uncomfortable. Lighting in the bathroom was very dim. Breakfast was equally bad , a selection of hot & cold. Which wasnât great. One of the cereal dispenser's broke, and stayed that way for 3 days. I wouldnât recommend this property
- Nasreen (6/5): - They don't have a pool, they have a deal to a noisy local pool which isn't relaxing, and we felt a little lied to that they make it seem like there is a pool on the premises. The sea views are excellent however.
- Bhupinder (6/5): - House keeping was very poor.
Reception staff were friendly and helpful.
Location was great.
Breakfast was average.
- A (4/5): Sliema Hotel - Booked for a week, however after seeing the rooms moved to a sister hotel the Blu Bay which was refurbished and much better.
Service was exceptional by the ST staff and would certainly stay at the Azure or BluBay again as both refurbished and worth the money
- Alfred (10/5): Great location, nice experience - Nice room in a historic building, well equipped and in a great location. Very little daylight in the room.
- Stephen (2/5): - Unfriendly staff
- Wyine (2/5): - The room we had was horrible. Totally different from the photos shown on
- Memody (10/5): - I had gre
