Guest Reviews
- Ana Catarina Fonseca (8/5): - Da simpatia, do quarto, da comida. Creio que as casa de banho poderia ser renovada. Creio que o Buffet poderia não ser tão caro.
- Vasco (2/5): -
- Travel_Christopherr (8/5): Very good option for business travel. - I generally loved this hotel. The rooms were quiet, comfortable, well-appointed and well designed. The lunch buffets were very good. The gym was perfectly functional and I really appreciated the fact that it did not have huge TV screens blaring CNN like many hotel gyms do. It's a peaceful, fit-for-purpose gym.
There were one or two minor hiccups along the way, but nothing major. All was managed by their excellent reception staff.
- Marco (4/5): Disappointing -
- Desa (9/5): Superb -
- Desa (7/5): Good -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was helpful. Decent gym. Near to airport, rooms were quiet. Nothing to complain about.
- Sebastián (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (8/5): A wonderful experience - Excelent service, staff was very friendly, polite and helpful. Hotel is not new, but still very well preserved. Room service did a wonderful job with all my requests. Food there (room service and restaurant) was also great. I truly enjoyed my stay in this hotel.
- D (8/5): Very good - The overall service Pricey and the supplies are not enough, no toothpaste and no toothbrush
- Joseph (5/5): Passable -
- Yolanda (6/5): Pleasant -
- Eric (4/5): Recommended to stay here for security but overpriced by western standards and bar staff are lazy. - Pool was dirty so no one used it in three days I was there. Dan outside room for aircon was really noisy. Bar staff inattentive and rude. Clean the pool and ask the bar staff to be attentive even if customer doesn’t have cash to pay tips up front.
- Shaun (7/5): Good -
- Ifeoma (8/5): Very good -
- Adelinda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kristo (9/5): Superb -
- Kristo (8/5): Very good -
- Sonia (10/5): Still awaiting the refund - One of the best hotels in Luanda it was doble charged.
- Gregor (10/5): - The staff were outstanding and very helpful.
Downside the bathroom in our room was very dated, and could do with some work.
Would definitely go back!
- Afroditi (8/5): They should invest in upgrades for the fees they charge. Otherwise, it was ok, but it fell short of my expectations - The location was very good, close access to the airport and the center. The staff also is really polite. You get fruit every afternoon. The hotel is managed from Portugal, and the office there is very slow in responding. The payment links were invalid and when I managed to pay, hotel staff did not have the information until much later.
I landed at 4am and I could not check in until 2pm. I had already informed the hotel, but the administration in Portugal never informed the local staff in Angola. My first day was horrible.
When that evening I called for room service dinner, I was requested to go to the reception to pay!!! This completely defeats the purpose of room service. I just cancelled it
The hotel needs some serious works to be up to standard for the price they charge. The bathrooms need change, the carpets, the air condition is old and loud in the rooms.
Also - tea is watered down and if you manage instant coffee, this is your only option.
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robyn (10/5): very convenient for airport transfers -
- Zelda (9/5): Superb -
- tewodros (6/5): - Tt
- Svetlana (10/5): quick but useful stay close to the airport - very close to the airport, big, clean and nice hotel good location, food was good with variety.
we had an extra bed added for a child in advance, was very useful.
- S (8/5): Good choice for Luanda - The Alvalade is a great choice whilst in transit to other destinations in Angola. It is close to the airport and very comfortable. The only complaint is that they do not provide an airport shuttle even though this is mentioned on their description. However the staff did assist with ordering a taxi.
- dean7568 (8/5): 8 weeks in Luanda - I stayed there on business between may and July 2022
Overall very nice stay I was lucky enough to have a suite which made the long term
Stay easier
Very friendly helpful staff .breakfast service was good with a plentiful choice . I was on a BB evening meal package which includes the evening buffet each evening . Over all it was very good but after 8 weeks it got a little repetitive but still nice food .This is only my opinion .
There was a good happy hour 5pm -7 at the pool bar which was usually busy with the expat regulars
I’d be very happy to return to Avalade
Big thank you to the door staff who were always cheerful and welcoming each day
- Buyowt (2/5): Bad experience - I was told that I could check out at 4pm.
When I returned at 3:30pm, housekeeping were in my room. I went to collect my clothes and toiletries and they had gone.
Only when I threatened to involve the police did some of my property appear.
I reported the incident to reception but they showed no interest at all.
- Jazzumbo (8/5): Luanda Landmark Hotel - Very good hotel not far from airport. Classy architecture. Rooms are large and sparlkling clean. Small balconies. Got a room with ocean view and enjoyed it. Cozy beds. AC worked properly. Spotless clean. The hotel has a small pool which offers nice views over the city. The prices are a bit cheeky (1500 kwanzas for o bottle of Cuca!). The restaurant used to be one of the most classy restaurants in Luanda about 10 years ago. It's no longer the case. However, the hotel has a good potential and the staff is very kind and helpful.
- Getaway17284657026 (10/5): Amazing staff - Hotel staff and service are highly competent and considerate. For my 3rd room service order, a few hours before my scheduled departure, I had been informed that no hot meals could be served as the oven wasn’t working. The chef offered a club sandwich with potato chips instead of French fries. I declined the offer as I can have a proper meal of my preference later on during the day. Minutes later the receptionist has informed me that they were concerned that I would leave hungry and so the chef found a way to cook the French fries and so they have served me their offer. They delivered it to my room and it was made complimentary. Gym is also nice and swimming pool is great. The room I had was very clean. Thank you for your hard work.
- fRancisLou (8/5): A good place to stay in Luanda even pandemic time. - A good place with clean, nice, and comfy rooms.
Hotel Staff were nice and accommodating.
Foods being served in the Restaurant were reasonable and good despite the operational status of hotel this pandemic.
Health Safety standards were being observed and implemented.
- greg2312 (4/5): Food and service poor - Nice hotel, decent rooms.
However it maybe be due to being an English speaker. But I find the room service terrible. I've ordered spaghetti bolognaise 3 times and 3 times received cheeseburgers. Whenever you make a call to room service, its followed by 3 back up calls confirming what you've asked, only to get it wrong when it arrives.
We were getting food paid for in advance by the company, and it was served cold every day. Poor show.
- Sandesh_N (8/5): One of the best hotel in Luanda - Hotel Alvalade is one of the best hotel for stay in Luanda with a spacious rooms with a small balcony attached to every room. You can watch sunrise / sunset from your room. Free WiFi is available in the room. 52" Smart LED TV is available in the room. Food quality is good with option of buffet & La-carte. The only hotel in Angola, where I can have chapati's in the buffet menu for dinner. Service is OK, needs to be improved. Swimming pool, bar & spa facility available.
- nurdin72 (8/5): Nice Hotel in Luanda - The hotel and service is very good. Food is very good also and there’s so many option to choose. But the hotel is old already and need to be renew like a room carpet. The hotel is provide the small balcony and good for the smoker.
- MarekJ144 (2/5): looooooooooongest check in ever! - check in for my group of 6 takes from 1AM to 5AM. First two room get after 1.5h Other 4 rooms not even sure if can get. At 3.30AM receptionist told me they need check 4 rooms if someone sleep there to decide give me or not. When taxi came, rooms have been found. Worst ever check in experience.
From positive - comfortable bed mattresses
- Cosmopolitan35701 (8/5): Nice hotel in Luanda - The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly. The level of service was generally good. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast and dinner were very good buffet meals. Good varieties and choices of food to choose from.
There is a moderately equipped gym and a swimming pool.
- deanbre (10/5): Great hotel in Luanda - A great hotel in Luanda, Angola
Rooms are well appointed and clean.. The staff are all very friendly and helpful.
Great buffet meals are served in the dining hall with a very good selection and variety to choose from. Light meals can also be had in the lobby bar or outside at the pool bar.
Great atmosphere and close to the airport.
- 525carln (6/5): Good hotel and Good location - This hotel is clean, great service, comfortable room, good food choices, very nice setting at the pool bar, with very friendly service. Location of hotel very good for city center business. Best breakfast ever!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel & rooms are clean & decent, food is good too. The only thing I did not really appreciate was the fact that the hotel does not provide ironing board and iron, even upon request. This is a basic amenity provided by most hotels and is expected from a hotel room worth US 200+ per night.
- KennethJ590 (8/5): Nice hotel with pool - I have stayed at this hotel several times. Prices in Luanda is sky high but here you get ok value for your money. The hotel is located outside centrum, and the area is as safe as it gets in Luanda. The pool is a perfect place to relax after the days work.
- M3316EPmiker (8/5): Good for quiet rest - room plus amenities..good
Bathroom clean.
many TV channels satelite and terrestial.
Food is Buffet style and of a good standard and variation.
Centrally located close to all shops.
Pickup and dropoff could be more spacious
- juanignaciop761 (8/5): Good option to stay in Luanda - I visited Angola during November 2018 and decided to stay at Alvalade Hotel because it was recommended as confortable and safe place to stay. In general my perspective of Luanda and Angola changed during my visit. It is a safe place with peaceful people who practice good manners all the time. The hotel was fine, confortable and clean. The rates are very high compared to what you can get in Costa Rica for $300 a night. The food is good, breakfast is included and very explendid , but the buffet dinner was the same every night which gets to be a problem when you are staying for a week.
My credit card was rejected most of the time and they don’t exchange US Dollars in the front desk which I found very odd. Carry several Visa cards if you travel to Angola. The rest are mostly not received.
- F792LSpeterv (8/5): Waiting for connection flights - I like the Hotel, it was clean and the staff was very friendly. Maybe not the best views from the Pool, but for one night it was okay. The gym was clean, safe and towels available. The restaurant was okay, the buffet had meat and fish, a lot of sweets and some fruit. Not the best kitchen i had, but okay.. In the morning they make you a an omelette with vegetables and again, also in the restaurant friendly staff.
Thanks for the relaxing day!
- adinj2015 (8/5): Work stopover - This is the 3rd time I’ve stayed here and although it’s not 5* there’s nothing to complain about. The rooms are very comfortable , there’s a bar and pool with a view, the buffet style meals are very good with lots of variety.
- neilbuchan1966 (10/5): My choice for Luanda. - Having worked in Angola, Luanda for thirteen years, i have stayed in various hotels and staff houses around the city. For me the Alvalade comes out top. Friendly, courteous staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome.Spacious rooms that are well maintained, quiet and the beds are the most comfortable i have ever slept in worldwide.Kitchen staff will go out of their way to accommodate you culinary needs, and often surprise with a fantastic prepared western dish.
- 965ritab (8/5): Nice hotel for business travels to Luanda - Hotel well located, not exactly in the city center, however suitable for business travelers as doesn't imply having to deal with the city traffic. The restaurant offers a very nice buffet and the rooms have a pleasant view over the city.
- drsharadn (6/5): 2nd stay can do better - Good hotel and very courteous staff.
Area of improvement:
1. Staff should learn English as most are very limited
2. Pricing too high for a hotelier this kind there are better hotels around for less
3. Room carpets very dirty please vacum regulary
4. Reception lounge cafe/bar is infested with mosquitoes & flies.
5. Swimming pool is not clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean Hotel - Good clean Hotel
