Guest Reviews
- liambW1218LD (6/5): Comfortable and fairly priced - Stayed two nights here. The staff were very helpful and keen to please. They helped arrange pick up from the airport which was easy. The accommodation was okay. The sheets were clean and the rooms felt safe, although there were no fire alarms in the room. The bathroom needs an upgrade the shower head was broken, the bathroom felt damp and needed a deeper clean.
- mammabetty (6/5): A little clean hotel - I was here for 2 nights.
The hotel is in very good position in old Hanoi that permit to move in the Center of the city, close to Hoan Kiem lake and parfumerie pagoda. Bat there is a price to pay: my room 504 was on main road so little bit noisy.
The room was big and comfortable but the forniture and the windows very old, may be need to be refreshed with new forniture and new soundproof window. The staff is friendly and helpful. Overall a spartan accommodation but adequate for spending
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Centrally located in Old Quarter with friendly staff - limited English. Has the atmosphere of a small family run hotel so they know who you are as you come and go - nice to 'come home' after day out. Internet and air conditioning good. Back rooms small but very quiet as window just to air-conditioning vent. Front rooms big but have street noise - so the full Hanoi noise experience! Small lift available or stairwell. Breakfast simple but excellent - baguette, eggs, fruit, coffee. Not wheelchair accessible unless you have narrow-style for regular door width and can get up 2-3 stairs at entrance. Someone usually on door to help. Showers over bath, but have hand sprayer if you can't step in. Streets tough for w/chairs - crazy busy - need to use road, dodge traffic and have big sense of adventure feel lucky. Around lake is easy access boulevards direct route from Lucky Hotel to the Lake area. There are multiple Lucky hotels - this is Luck with no number.
- NAM (10/5): - Great service. High recommended.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -

- Verified traveler (6/5): - The management were not particularly friendly, the rooms adequate but not great, beds hard as a rock as were the pillows, no luggage rack but that seems to be standard in Hanoi. No tissues or coffee , tea. I probably wouldn’t stay there again.
- FFFCanberra (10/5): Excellent location, clean and well-run - We stayed for several weeks in both the Lucky 3 and Lucky Hotels, which along with Lucky 2 are a family-owned and run group. Both of the hotels in which we stayed are well located and run and very clean. Management and staff are friendly and helpful. Both hotels offer very good value for money in such a central location. Highly recommended.
- Deb (10/5): - For the price I gave it a 5 star we spend 4 days there and we will be going back at the end of our trip for a few more days
They are storing a few bags for our return
We had an inside room which we found very quiet a nice breakfast as served each morning
The staff at front desk arranged trips and pick ups
Very good location as well
- Deborah (10/5): - It’s all good for the price we love the location and front desk booked us a few tours this am
Great breakfast
I would recommend
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Classic hotel in the very midst of the old city in Hanoi! Just perfect.
- 90donnag (8/5): Good for Short Stay - We needed to find a hotel last minute so we walked into the hotel to book directly. The staff was very friendly, helpful and spoke English well.
They have a complimentary menu breakfast that was delicious.
The only cons is that the hotel needs some renovation and the beds were hard for western standards.
For the price and kindness I highly recommend this hotel.
- W175DHalexf (10/5): Fantastic family run hotel - Big thank you to all the family and staff at Lucky Hotels!
We had a fantastic holiday in Vietnam, our time in Hanoi was made even better by the great stay we had at Lucky.
Great room with a view, perfect location, great breakfast and dinner, extremely happy and helpful staff. Couldn’t ask for more!
Thank you again for a perfect stay, would definitely stay here again when returning to Hanoi.

- Simon (8/5): Excellent stay - Excellent hotel stay! Would absolut recomment this hotel. But the restaurant did not serve.. anyway theres plenty food around 😆
- kcc500 (6/5): Great location and value for money - Conveniently located at the end of the silk sellers’ street, this hotel offers very good value for money. The room was upgraded to a larger size and the excellent air conditioning was very welcome. I had to keep the door to the bathroom shut as it was next to the air well which was very hot. The room would have benefitted from maintenance. Breakfast was cooked to my order, delicious and served in the delightful if tiny dining room. This hotel is not luxurious but offers a convenient and acceptable pied a Terre in old quarter hanoi that cant be beaten for location.
- 302lorena (2/5): No no no ! - Horrible horrible stuff! Had the worst hotel experience ever. One of the guys in the front desk was drunk or something because he came to our room couple times that night asking us to pay now and not at checkout, he came multiple times and every time he just used his own key to open the room from outside. He came to the room screaming we need to pay and starts touching our stuff. It was very late and we were tired so we payed him and went to sleep. The next morning he woke us up screaming and knocking like crazy, he used his key to open the door from his side. (We were 3 girls one was in the shower) he wanted us to check out ahead of time and because the night before we already paid for the room we didn’t really know what to do, so we told him to give us 10 minuets so we can pack our stuff, 2 minuets after he came again and he just starts to take our open luggage outside when one of us still in the shower and can’t come out because he won’t leave us. This was going on for like 20 minuets. 2 of us couldn’t even brush out teeth, and we found ourself in the street still wearing pajamas. Obviously no one helped us with the luggage so we had to take in down ourself. While going down the stairs 5 floors with very heavy luggage my friend accidentally broke a small pot that was on the middle of the stairs, that is when the guy almost hit us. He stats screaming like crazy he took (by force) my friend luggage and wouldn’t give in back. We didn’t even understand if he wants money for that because he was just too aggressive and using power on us. All of this happening when the other lady stuff looking and laughing.
- 358deanm (6/5): Fair Value for the Money - We stumbled across this place and its in a good part of the old town. Its cheap and dated. The beds were rock hard and the staff really struggled with English. Simple things like leaving stuff in the safety deposit box were problematic. Breakfast was very, very basic.
Linen was worn and the amenities in need of a make over but it was really cheap and that is handy on a budget.
- PhiNN90 (10/5): Convenience Hotel! - I and my family stayed in Lucky Hotel for 3 nights, it is located in the central of Ha Noi, nearby Hoan Kiem Lake, shopping center, restaurant! Overall, this is very good hotel for every one who would love to visit the Capital of Viet Nam!
I would like to give 1 of my opinions for this hotel: the staffs (in the restaurant) need to talk nicely to the guest even they are Vietnamese or foreigner! Should be fair to every one!
Anyway, i give 5 points for this hotel...
Definitely i will recommend this hotel to my friends who are going to Ha Noi!
- 781bramc (8/5): Me - Nice small Hotel, with good staff. Better than expected. Good location.
Room was massive ! Would book again.
Big bathroom and Living room , Has a lift
English good at reception . Advice and bag storage. Near walking street.
Menu for breakfast .
Only $20.00 AUD
- rosemayn2015 (8/5): Convenient, well located - -room had basic facilities- aircon, hot water, clean.
-reception staff helpful. nice, speak english fluently
-easy to shop around
-easy to eat
-map given by hotel , clear , easy to visit around area
-hotel arrange transport to airport( convenient , on time, reliable)-
-breakfast service ok and quick
- spudnikfalcon (8/5): Older style hotel in old quarter Hanoi - A lovely small hotel...friendly efficient check in..assistance with luggage...lovely older style room...more like an apartment..with a balcony overlooking the street...everything was explained about the room...high ceilings...great air conditioner!!..wifi wa spotty in my room... Varied from great to zero in a mater of 5 metres...minor problem...everything was clean and presentable...kettle..cups..no coffee and no spoons!! Minor problem...breakfast room on ground floor with a good selection of western food including cereal...staff quite friendly but many had limited language...very helpful staff just the same...some rooms had a safely deposit box...mine did not for some reason...enjoyed my stay and will use this hotel again when I return
- Tysonb215 (10/5): lovely staff - lovely accomodating staff. really freindly great fun to talk to esecially the lady who i could of married!! in the heart of hanoi really luxurious cooling room awesome place to sleep and distill. i will miss my stay. ))
- 124ellep (8/5): Overall good hotel, breakfast needs improvement - Rooms are big and clean, showers have hot water. Well located and price is OK. Only con is that breakfast starts at 7.30am and if you need to leave earlier than that they will not provide a packed breakfast. This should be fixed - not hard to throw together a sandwich and piece of fruit for people who are paying $18USD for a room that is supposed to include breakfast.
- Louis-Michel (10/5): - J'ai adoré. Excellent service.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Could do better - The breakfast was very good and had the same attention been given to the maintenance and housekeeping of the room the hotel would have been very good. Black silicone around the bath. Filthy marks on the wall where the key goes to turn on the lights etc., the extractor in the bathroom was filthy and needed a good clean. One receptionist was lovely, the other one very rude. All the above things are easily fixed (apart from the rude receptionist) and what a difference it would make. Not particularly cheap and better and cleaner hotels are available. Location was very good.
- Mueed (4/5): - My room smelt musty even with the air conditioner on. There was only a thin fitted sheet on the mattress so I ended up sleeping on the covers. The hotel needs renovating. The room was clean. The location was very good and the staff courteous and helpful.
- Gregory (4/5): A scam! - Do NOT book this property! They attempted to scam us and another couple soon after. We arrived and they said they never received our confirmation and had no rooms, despite having keys behind the desk. They attempted to get us to pay for a sister property for $50 which we already paid on hotels.com. After speaking with hotels.com for about 45 minutes, they somehow found our reservation and put us in lucky hotel 2 (1 block away). The hotel and room were clean and comfy. Fast wifi. Only negative besides the scam, was our room was a smoking room which we didn't book. After finally settling in, on the way to get food Lucky 2 was saying the same thing to 2 other guests who had a reservation. Not a good experience when you arrive to Hanoi at 9:30 pm in a busy city and them attempting to get scammed. Got a refund voucher from hotels.com so technically a free room worth the 45 minute arguing.
- NishaM356 (10/5): A home at the heart of Hanoi - I returned to Lucky Hotel last week after 6 years. (This time I stayed at Lucky Hotel, in 2010 I had stayed at Lucky 2 which is a few feet away, the review holds for both).
A lot of great things to say about the hotel : respond quickly to your booking requests, accomodate special requests (airport pick up, in my case vegetarian food since my flight was arriving pretty late); friendly and quick check in, rooms that have fresh laundry and bed linen, rooms that are clean (Im a mom, so tend to gravitate to nooks where you can find dirt, here you can find none), mini bar, hot water kettle, spacious bathrooms and a fantastic breakfast menu. A special mention about their sandwich spreads - these are home made. The location is an advantage, located near the big lake, so its vibrant all the time. Lots of options for dining near by.
The only negative is that the rooms are a bit small, lacking in view, but thats immaterial if you are only using the place as a hotel.
A special shout out to Mrs Huong who seems to run both Lucky and Lucky 2 and remembered me from my previous visit! Her staff - front office and cleaning, need a special mention.
- charlesz648 (10/5): Great place to stay - Big, clean rooms, with a fantastic location, and very helpful staff/owners, and for a good price. There is also parking and security for motorcycles. I highly recommend Lucky Hotel to anyone traveling to Ha Noi
- Yanjing (8/5): good luck -
- AvalonCeleste (8/5): Value for money in the heart of Hanoi. - Friends booked this hotel for us for two nights, pleasant, comfortable, welcoming and helpful staff, good selection of Western breakfast, close to shops, eateries, lovely lake, hotel arranged private tour guide, transfer to airport, currency exchange, transport to Vietnam Airlines to rebook flights, extra blankets, staff were keen to please and flexible.
Pleasant and comfortable place to stay for first visit to Hanoi,
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- 280wh (10/5): Rents a room for 1/2 day! - Rents a room for 1/2 day!
Twice I needed a room for a half day when my transportation departed in the evening. There was no issue about renting the room for the 1/2 day.
Lucky I Hotel Staff is great and helpful.
- TammyChick145 (8/5): Great staff, great location - We visited Hanoi for 2 weeks and we were very pleased with our stay at the Lucky Hotel.
The location was perfect as we were very central and we managed to walk everywhere we wanted to go. (Hoan Kiem lake, St Joseph's Cathedral, Water Puppet show, Hao Lo prison, shops and markets, bars, restaurants and nightlife).
The staff are lovely and easy going but efficient too, they treat you like family! We stayed in room 404 which was a good size and had a huge balcony looking over the busy hanoi street. We were surprised that it wasn't noisy as we had expected and we had a great sleep, once our jet-lag had passed! Our room was cleaned daily and we were given fresh towels and bottled water. I believe the Lucky hotel is the oldest of 3 which are only a short walk from each other. We did pass Lucky Hotel 2 and 3 which had a more modern style, next time we are in Hanoi we would love to try 2 or 3! Overall a lovely little hotel chain with friendly and helpful staff in a great location!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Had a good stay while I was there. Got sick so had to leave trip early. Would like to go back at a later date to enjoy more of the great food and friendly people.
- abegaill2014 (8/5): Great service in a perfect location. - I stayed here for 8 nights with my wife and 2 kids. The room we had was really an apartment. It had a living area and separate bathroom and bedroom. The rooms were very big, but undoubtedly could do with modernising. The shower was frankly, rubbish and the kingsize bed was far too hard (imwas in room 101). Furthermore, their seemed to be a minor ant problem anywhere food was kept.
That aside, everything else was excellent. The location is superb. Minutes from hoan kiem lake and fabulous restaurants. The customer service was great. We were treated like royalty. The owner gave my kids milk or yakult every day and provided us, for free, daily fresh fruit. The breakfast was first class and the trips we bought were all very good.
It is quite expensive compared to other 2 star hotels, but i certainly didnt feel like i was in a 2 star establishment. I would happily return, but request lucky hotel no 3 which is far nicer and modern inside.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Guest2013 - I think the hotel is over-rated online. The location is good if you want to shop, but if you want to rest then at night it is simply impossible because of loud noises coming out of various places and roads around. My room was old time renovation, especially the bathroom looked old. The unit was big, but did not appear quite conformable. The furniture was beautiful, but old. I got very mixed feelings about the comfort there. Breakfast was OK, but it is not a buffet therefore has limited choices and is relatively small in volume. The personnel is friendly and ready to assist as necessary.
