- David Campbell (10/5): We really like the Three Bishops Pub and hope to stay there again - We really enjoyed our stay in the Three Bishops in Brighstone, Isle of Wight. Sean, the landlord, is full of energy and enthusiasm. He is very customer focussed and he has a lot of experience in the hospitality industry. He took over this pub just over a year ago so this should be kept in mind when reading reviews. Our room was very comfortable, clean and convenient. The dinners and breakfasts were really excellent with perfect service from Sean and his team. There is a good variety on the menu and for drinks. There are also plenty of tables in the sunny garden at the back and we were able to park right next to it. Brighstone is a nice, peaceful village. The church is especially beautiful and a visit is recommended. There is a well-stocked village shop next to the pub. As well as being convenient by road from the Yarmouth ferry and Newport, buses run through the village. We definitely recommend The Three Bishops.

- Terri (10/5): A lovely stay.... - We were on a walking holiday and stayed here as one of our pitstops. The room was large and comfortable, the bathroom was huge and very clean. Breakfast was included with our stay, my friend had the English breakfast which looked lovely. We also had an evening meal which was very enjoyable and a varied menu for all dietary needs. The staff were very friendly and helpful with information for the next leg of our journey.

- Olivia (7/5): Lovely location, comfy stay. - Really comfy bed. Great shower. Perfect location for me, as I was visiting family in the village. Someone else's bottle of orange squash had been left in the bathroom, (I hope it was squash!), maybe belonging to a previous guest. That was a little weird but everythnig else was nice.

- james (8/5): Great location, friendly staff, good food & drink - This is the only place conveniently located to the dinosaur coast near Compton Bay, and just so happens to be a good place to stay. Overall I would say it's great and would definitely stay again. Set in quiet little village, this pub with accomodation has everything you need. A decent bar & restaurant, nice rooms, quiet location, games in the pub (pool & darts), great food & drink and reasonable price, and a village shop next door. There is a bus that runs through here to Newport, but it's not very regular. The main thing I remember is feeling really welcomed when we came in the door. The landlord Shaun / Sean introduced himself and was superfriendly, as were all the bar staff.

- Michael (8/5): - Firstly, the staff were lovely and very helpful, and the breakfast in the morning was excellent and cooked to order! And after a very long day, the pillows were lovely! There was a little bit of confusion at check-in, but it was eventually resolved and worked out better as one guest is disabled and would have struggled with the “fire escape” entrance to the rooms. The accessible room he ended with was ideal, but both rooms were a little tired in some aspects - nevertheless, they were relatively clean and suitably stocked with toiletries and tea/coffee. The only criticisms I would have is for one of the bathrooms: blue gel toothpaste left on the tap from a previous guest, dust on the door frame of the shower (as there was no where near the shower to hang the towel, I popped it over the door to easily grab, but had to wipe it down first!), and there was a broken pedal bin in the bathroom - it may have been easier to throw the lid away until a new bin was bought, as it was just a nuisance being in the way! There was also a bit of a design flaw as when the shower door opens out, all the water on the door drops into a laminated wooden step - so the plastic trim has started to come away and may become a hazard to another user?

Was literally like staying in a wooden summerhouse. The front door was not that secure and very rattly in the wind. I’m not a large curtain to draw a rod for privacy. Windows didn’t close properly either. Noisy room with it being right next to the beer garden and entry/exit to the bar. Expensive rate for this type of room.

Even though the facilities were above a pub, it was closed each time we returned late evening so we weren't disturbed by crowd noise etc. Bed linen was beautifully soft and very clean. Shower was powerful and hot. Host and staff were wonderful and engaging. Plenty of parking available. Food was exceptionally well cooked - breakfast, cooked by the host Sean, was particularly tasty. Special mention to Martin who made coffee exactly as requested. Bed mattresses and pillows were budget quality. Had to cart suitcases up and down an exterior winding metal staircase and no-one offered to assist. Not sure what they could do about the shower door - a narrow squeeze to get in and out. Exceptionally hot weather made the (presumed) South-facing room hot and stuffy, but an electric fan was provided. Would benefit from a few more coat hangers - four between two of us just not enough. No-one responded to questions asked via Booking.com prior to occupation so had to call instead - discussed with host who was unaware of this dilemma and am sure will ensure it doesn't happen in the future. None of this is enough to prevent us booking this facility again.

The room was really nice but unfortunately let down by empty chocolate wrappers, an empty pork scratching packet plus a few loose pork scratchings left in the draw beside the bed. Also the heating was working so the room was very cold. They did eventually give me a small very rusty oil radiator with a wheel missing for a little bit of heat. Also they only do a cooked breakfast, I wanted just cereal 😔 On the plus side the bed was comfy and the shower was really good and hot. Would I stay here again, probably not.

For eve meal he sorted a replacement over baked pie and a salad missing components listed in the description. Cooked a great breakfast Very well done chef!!! Room very compact. Luckily we didn't need TV as it wasn't working. Booking.com needs to know and indicate change over of ownership so that customers can be broad shouldered with the issues that arise from management change over. It's a great relaxed vibe place with nice staff, so sure to be great when new management gets going.

The tea, coffee & Chocolate was top quality, The shower was perfect and just what I needed. I had a meal in their restaurant, which was great, and very tasty. Breakfast was friendly and enough to start the day. Couldn't have asked for a better lace to stay.

The room was clean and comfortable, with a view of the sea in the distance, and the pub has a welcoming atmosphere. Earliest breakfast at 08.30 served by staff in dressing gown and got it at 09.00 eventhough had to walk 16 miles before dark. Breakfast consisted of luke warm tea out of machine and limited cooked menu. My room was so dirty I wrote it on the mirror eventhough hoovers and cleaners left all over the corridor and public areas. No shampoo in shower.

We didn’t know there was entertainment booked so may not have chosen to eat at the pub if we had known but it was fun. Lovely breakfast included in the deal, and a superb Sunday roast in the bar at a reasonable price. Room and bathroom a little cramped, especially around the window area, but it didn't detract from us having an enjoyable stay.

This meant a late start for the next days walk. Bathroom was very compact and bijou. Lean on the wall and the position of the TV on the wall meant access to the tea making facility was difficult for taller people. There was several areas that needed dusting eg the tissue box Some of the food on the menu (haddock fish cake) overly priced

- Patricia (7/5): Clean and comfortable but lacking on some of the niceties. - Breakfast was ok but not a full menu of cereal, juices etc only something cooked. Happy with this for a 2 day stay but not good if staying longer. A few things went wrong for us - toilet stopped working, no shampoo in the container, no tv remote control - which although put right were quite annoying. Otherwise things were good, especially the velux window and the provision of a non-slip shower mat.

- Lurch1612 (8/5): Popular local village pub with lovely room and staff - Lovely village location, situated in a pub so had the food, entertainment, garden, staff to assist, landlady was so kind and friendly the next morning. I think I was the only guest and she took the time to chat with me about my hike and give me advice It was very busy that evening in the pub so unfortunately my food took a long time to arrive. Also my room was not ready when I got there (or they gave me the wrong keys initially) - it was all rectified quickly though and my room was lovely. The WiFi was not very good in my room, which was in the pub garden but there was data signal and WiFi in the pub itself.
