- Vladislav (9/5): -
- Gogoi (10/5): - I loved the spot .! Couldn’t hav asked for a better stay .! My mom and I enjoyed it thoroughly.!
- Juhi (10/5): Awesome stay - Such a unique experience and the place had everything one needs for short or long stay. Location and the view was just perfect. Just 20 mins away from Amsterdam centre and yet you get to enjoy the peace and beauty of the city. Grocery store was right across the corner. Check-in process was smooth. Would definitely come back.
- Daria Lehka (9/5): Lovely experience - Staying at SWEETS – Sluis Haveneiland was truly a unique and unforgettable experience! It’s not just an apartment — it’s part of an incredible concept where former bridge houses across Amsterdam have been transformed into cozy, beautifully designed suites.
The house on Haveneiland sits directly on the water, and waking up to the view of Lake IJ felt absolutely magical.
The interior is modern, cleverly designed, and very comfortable. Everything was perfectly clean, with thoughtful little touches — a tablet with local recommendations, books and board games, and delicious coffee.
The location is fantastic: a peaceful, modern area on IJburg where you can enjoy quiet surroundings and beautiful water views, yet still reach the city center easily by tram in about 20 minutes. The tram stop is only a 5–7 minute walk away.
There’s a beach, a surfing center, cozy cafés, and a supermarket about 10 minutes from the apartment.
What we loved most was the atmosphere — such a strong sense of privacy and calm. It’s the kind of place where you can truly unwind and enjoy the nature around you.
SWEETS – Sluis Haveneiland is one of the most special places I’ve ever stayed. It genuinely made our whole trip memorable. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for something unique, stylish, and inspiring! 🌊✨ Unfortunately, some interior details didn’t feel very new. For example, the large green bed looked a bit worn, and a few decorative upholstered buttons were missing, which created a slightly chaotic impression. The chairs also felt a little unsafe at times - they creaked and wobbled, so sitting on them didn’t always inspire confidence.
Another challenge for us was the ventilation. It was not clear how to use the exhaust hood or even how to open the windows properly. Because the building is almost entirely covered with glass, I imagine that in summer it might get quite warm and feel a bit like an “aquarium effect".
For a short stay it was manageable, but if we were to stay longer, this could have been an issue.
We also missed some basic kitchen items such as paper towels or small kitchen cloths, which would have been helpful when washing dishes.
Despite these details, we still enjoyed our stay very much. It was a very interesting and memorable experience overall.
- Gavin (9/5): Unique, tranquil and relaxing. Visitors to Amsterdam should try staying in a bridge house at least once! - Gorgeous location, right next to the lake where you can see boats passing through the bridge right next to the bridge house. The waterfront promenade is a great place for a run or a walk, as you see many young families there. There is basis kitchen facilities, and a well-stocked grocery store is just a 7 min stroll away.
Transportation wise, we didn’t really have any problems. There’s a direct tram from Amsterdam central followed by 10 min walk. The neighborhood is peaceful. For people who may have trouble using stairs, there may be problems. The unit itself is located on the upper floor, while the toilet and shower are on the lower floor.
The speakers and Spotify in the unit weren’t working as well.

- Margaret (5/5): - Location was pleasant. Bridge house was interesting. Bed was comfortable. Kitchen was tiny but adequate. We were aware there were stairs but didn't expect the bathroom and toilet to be downstairs. That was very inconvenient.
We are elderly and getting bags up and down was difficult. Fortunately a kind man assisted us on arrival.
I think this issue should be made clearer in the advertising. Some people would not have been able to manage the stairs and we struggled.
I would have preferred a proper table, not a trestle on which I kept kicking my toes, and comfortable chairs other than plastic ones would have been nice.
- Amy (9/5): Must do once, but too far from central Amsterdam - Great and unusual apartment! Loved watching the boats coming through and waving at people. Other than the dining chairs, there is nowhere to just sit. The bed lacks a headboard and the cushioned area adjoined to the bed lacks a back, so you can’t really relax.
It is a very long cycle into central Amsterdam!
- Morgan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonathan (8/5): Very good - Stylish, spacious and unique property. Really simple to get into Amsterdam via the tram. Only small things:
Toilet/shower on the bottom floor - feels like a trek going to the toilet during the night!
Would have been good to have a headboard behind pillows
- Caroline (10/5): A really unique place to stay! - Fantastic stay and such a unique place. Loved the views and the quirky furnishings . Well equipped, clean and comfortable. So quiet at night.
- Рей (10/5): Please add corkscrew to the tools, we had to leave bottle of wine cause we can't open it 🙁 - Location, environment.
- Christiaan (10/5): Spacious with amazing views - I stayed 5 nights and loved every minute of it. The Sluishuis is very clean, spacious and the views across the water are just amazing. I couldn't stop taking pictures of the beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Sluishuis very private (no neighbours) and feels very safe. Curtains allow you to choose between complete privacy and great views. A direct 15 minute tram ride takes you to Amsterdam Central Station. Shops/restaurants and a supermarket are around the corner. The friendly staff of Sweets picked up the phone right away when I had a question. I will definitely stay here again. A comfy chair for reading and admiring the views would have been great.
- Joanne (10/5): Unique place to stay - Unique place to stay, very comfortable. Very well thought out facilities. Stunning location
- Alison (8/5): Very good -
- Marvie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Borel (9/5): Superb -
- Lukrecija (10/5): - Absolut traumhafte Lage, super Ausstattung
- Katherine (7/5): Nice spacious apartment out of the busy city centre - Easy check in. Enjoyed being out of the busy city centre while being able to get the tram in. Wonderfully decorated and awesome to have the full kitchen and coffee machine! Comfy bed too! My only negative would be that the windows aren’t tinted for privacy. There are blinds on all of them but it’s such a beautiful view over the water. If you tried to sit and just enjoy it you often felt like you were making direct eye contact with the bridge workers trying to do their jobs. Other then that a great little room!
- Thomas (10/5): One of the best apartments I’ve ever stayed in - Unique stay in a converted bridge house. Lovely big windows overlooking the water. Kitchen was small but very functional and clean for 2 people. Massive bookshelf full of interesting books and board games. Interesting quirks throughout the room, like an old intercom and screens that were used when it was a bridge house. Great speakers. Very comfortable bed. Very spacious room / apartment. Bathroom was very clean. Only residents on the waterside of the road which had a nice feel about it. Workers near the bridge can see into the room if the blinds are open. Late check-in (4pm) was inconvenient. 45minute journey via train to the city centre.
- Elizabeth (8/5): Modern, spacious apartment with tremendous views - Wonderful views over the water and fabulous to watch the boats come in and out of the marina and through the lock. Easy access to Central Station on the tram (20 mins). Quiet, residential neighbourhood with local restaurants and two excellent supermarkets. Spacious, well equipped. Air con worked well but I think it might be hot inside in the summer with all that glass. Toilet and bathroom down a long flight of stairs which won’t suit everyone but was fine for us.
- Lia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diane (10/5): Unique stay in Amsterdam - The bridge house is architecturally unique, it’s spacious for two people and it’s a great spot to spend a week in Amsterdam.
The location (Ijburg) can seem a bit remote at first, but it’s actually nicely calm, and a short tram ride from the centre of Amsterdam. Although we visited in March, the bridge house got really warm on sunny days, and it wasn’t easy to regulate its temperature.
- Anastasiia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (9/5): Unique place to stay - Unique location with great view over the water and added interest seeing the boats passing by. Plenty of space. Good room and area guide on the tablet in the room. Tram stop only a short walk away. We really enjoyed staying here. The house is great - just one problem that took us some time to solve...
Keeping the room at a comfortable temperature was a bit difficult -, it was often too hot - even in November with freezing temperatures outside. The thermostat control in the room seems to do nothing - even if the temperature is set to a target of 16 degrees centigrade (and showing 26 degrees as the current room temperature) the heating would be switched on and radiators hot. The thermostat / heating control is not as described in the room guide on the tablet in the room. The room guide said the heating could be switched off but this didn't seem to be possible. Eventually we turned down each of the approx. 10 radiators and opened the small windows. But this seems to be wasteful of energy so is not ideal.
- Boris (8/5): Very good -
- Cydney (8/5): Very good -
- Lauren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Freya (8/5): Lovely stay with only a couple of minor issues. Would come back again - Very unique property in a lovely neighbourhood about 30 min cycle into town.
The property was clean and spacious, the view across the water was also very nice It got extremely hot! Even with blinds closed, fans open and the small windows opened it was still hotter than outside.
No where to hang or put away clothes so you end up mostly living out of your suitcase
- Penkinv (7/5): Good -
- Erica (10/5): Exceptional - Very cute stay and very cozy have a lovely time! Enjoyed how quiet the area was, a nice relaxing break to the business of Amsterdam
- Alems87 (7/5): Original place with great views - It was a original place with all the things you require for good stay. Amazing views No windows, so it was a bit hot despite having 2 fans.
- Inna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Am (8/5): Very good - Location was great and the views are excellent of the water and the incoming boats. Very relaxing and peaceful stay. Grocery stores and restaurants are nearby. The tram to the city centre is a short walk (~10mins). Could have more supplies for cleaning floors like a broom/vacuum and sponge/clothes for the dishes and the kitchen.
- Vanessa (9/5): Loved our stay despite the negative’s! The view & location was spot on! - The view & location! Very accessible to supermarket & Amsterdam Central by Tram 26. Bars, Restaurants & Beach/surfing within walking distance. Automatic lights stayed on too long. Kitchen lighting inadequate. Outside area could do with some TLC.
- Лариса (9/5): The place is wonderful but requires better care - This house is really unique, and spacious. It's located in a calm city district which is close to the city center ( 15-20 minutes by tram).
The river and bridge views give an amazing vibe. The cleaning could have been better. Also, napkins were missing at all, bathroom accessories are very poor. The floor was sticky in some places.
- Cristina (9/5): Amazing place -
- Theodore (10/5): Exceptional - This is a must stay property! it completely exceeded our expectations. The view from the place was beautiful and super quiet. The bed felt luxurious and we had the best nights sleep, It’s in a great location with a supermarket just a 2 minute walk away and a tram that takes you straight to the center just a 5 minute walk if that! It was super clean and cosy, and again just blew us away and we are already looking at returning 😊 Nothing it was perfect.
- Estella (10/5): Exceptional - We enjoyed our 16-night stay in this unique bridge house. The views through the windows are impeccable and the space is really huge. There’s a supermarket in walking distance, we almost bought groceries and cooked everyday in the fully equipped kitchen. The online service was really helpful and nice, Sluis Haveneiland is indeed one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. This place is suitable for staying for a long time. If washing machine was available in this place, it could be more convenient for the long stayers.
- Fiona (10/5): We felt so very welcome here! - It was located on the river, with exceptional views, near transport , shop and restaurants. Able to watch the boats and water activities. Accommodation facilities were excellent. -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Schönes Haus, mit tollem Ausblick! Sehr sauber, ruhig und nettes Personal.
