Guest Reviews
- Juan Carlos (10/5): - Location, good price - cost. Room size
- Urrego (8/5): - staff very kind and the presentation was very nice. I felt very sad when I arrived and realized I had to lift my 30kg baggage 3 floors without an elevator.
also I didn't expect the bathroom to be separated, that is something I consider key point for reccomend this place to anyone.

- Janet (7/5): - Good location, comfortable bed No elevators, offers breakfast it didn’t have it, the lockers fir shoes got stuck, and the staff don’t speak English
- Plamen (9/5): Great location - Great location. Nice personnel. We had a family room with ensuite bathroom. They gave us two key cards so we were able to have electricity during the day when we were out and going back the room was well cooled. They were strict with the check-in time so we had to turn back in the afternoon to do the check-in.

- Domitilla (9/5): Posizione fantastica! Ostello consigliatissimo!

- Murshid (6/5): -
- Susanne (9/5): - Perfect position. Nice family room. View to temple in front of the hotel. Small sized bed rooms
- Queenie (2/5): - We had our flight canceled the day before our flight departure date due to the Air Canada labor strike and the hotel was unwilling to provide us a refund.
- Daniel (3/5): -
- Erin (7/5): Good for a one night stay if you don’t mind shared bathrooms - Clean and modern property in a good location and very friendly staff Bathrooms are actually shared which I was not aware of, I wouldn’t have booked here had I known and I feel like it was very deceptive marketing. You can’t really tell from the photos or the location listing that it’s shared bathroom facilities.
- Deborah (7/5): Good for hostel. Challenging for multiple adults. - Probably good for hostel expectations. Clean enough. Close to Grand Palace. Friendly staff. Booked Family Deluxe room, literally couldn't move outside bedrooms. Took turns sitting in lobby while everyone got ready. Left at a loss after one night but to be fair will look at overall square footage in future. Decent location, a bit removed from areas that are more active socially in evenings. Requirement that shoes be locked up at bottom entryway with multiple flights of stairs to room was time consuming and frustrating because keys didn't work and required assistance nearly every time. Major hassle if you have to return to the room for anything.
- Chanatip (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adams (10/5): Soft mattress, very comfortable bed - I stayed in the family room and the bed was the most comfortable I've experienced in Thailand.
I came to Bangkok to attend two medical conferences and a holiday in between and was happy I picked YakThai.
Modern and clean furnishings. Air con and WiFi were both reliable. Simple breakfast was included and a microwave is available for use in the small communal kitchen.
Very quiet at night as well as lovely linen, a soft mattress & soft pillows meant I slept really well.
3 short stair flights up to the family room. Pretty decor everywhere that is kept spotlessly clean.
The staff were also helpful and friendly. Will definitely stay again.
- Sai (9/5): Superb -
- Sebastian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonathan (9/5): Superb -
- François (10/5): Exceptional - The location
Very clean Nothing
- Max (8/5): Very good - Very clean and well run hostel. Great locations right in the old town with easy access to the MRT. Has very good food stalls right outside and staff on front desk 24/7. Aircon is good and the beds were comfy Rooms are a bit small and air con is only for rooms not the halls. so they can get quite warm while going to the bathroom or showering. They also keep the windows open in the halls so watch out for mosquitos getting into room
- Payad (4/5): Yakthai Poshtel: A Mixed Bag for Budget Travelers - Yakthai Poshtel boasts a fantastic location, close to many of Bangkok's must-see tourist attractions. The air conditioning also works exceptionally well, a crucial factor in the Thai heat. However, this is where the positives largely end.
Unfortunately, the cons outweigh the pros for me. The lack of private bathrooms is a significant drawback. Even worse, the men's shower is located on a different floor, adding a layer of inconvenience. During my stay, one of the two showers was clogged, and the other's water heater was broken, meaning cold showers were the only option. To add insult to injury, the toilets were consistently out of toilet paper at night.
The "free breakfast" is a very basic affair consisting of 3-in-1 coffee and white toast. While it's something, don't expect anything substantial. Finally, be aware that the rooms are VERY small. The photos online showcase their family rooms, which are much larger. The standard rooms are cramped, so be prepared for tight quarters.
Overall, Yakthai Poshtel's location and working AC are definite pluses. However, the numerous issues with the shared bathrooms, the basic breakfast, and the small room size make it difficult to recommend unless you're on a very tight budget and willing to sacrifice comfort for location. You might be better off exploring other options in the area. No private bathrooms, always out of toilet paper, shower clogged, shower water heater did not work.
- Xiaohong (6/5): - I like the location of the facility, however the bathroom and shower is pretty bad and smelly.
- Ryan (6/5): Great location, clean modern bare rooms. Nice friendly staff. I stayed 2 nights. - Staff really nice, great location , basic rooms, clean and bare I remove my slippers/thongs/shoes/sandals before entering rooms…I was frustrated having to do this and lock them up in a locker every time I went up to the room ( probably ok if you are solo but w 3 kids it got tiresome. I wish there was a place to just leave them out in the open like most places)
- Alysha (10/5): brilliant for the price - the bed was super comfortable especially after long flights! /
- Roman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heather (10/5): Great stay - The room was spacious and clean and the bed really comfy. Great location and lovely staff.
- Cris (8/5): Very good - Very nice hotel, the room was very clean, the bathrooms decent. Perfect position to explore the city and the staff is really kind. Super comfy bed and I even had a free room upgrade.
- Elise (9/5): Perfect stay in Bangkok ! - The hotel is quite in a really good place. Just next to the center and temples. It’s really appreciating to go on foot in the whole city. The room is small but it’s enough. We got all we need. The staff is also quite friendly and accommodating!
- Merlina (10/5): Exceptional - The most comfy and soft bed and pillows (yes, 2) that I’ve never seen in Thailand. Excellent location. They gave us sandals for using at the hotel. Breakfast available for free The breakfast could be better. Just coffee powder, tea and biscuits, but they have options for buying there another stuff. You have to wash you own plate and mug.
- Masi (4/5): Disappointing - I wrongly booked in the wrong week. My mistake, of course. I contacted the hotel for cancellation with refund. They didn't agree, even though they were fully booked in that period and could have easily refunded my money and offer the room to new guests. Weird...
- Urquhart (3/5): Poor - Everyone seemed happy both guests and visitors There was a cockroach in my room which freaked me out and I chose to leave
- Manoj (7/5): Good -
- Meziane (8/5): Good location good staff good price - clean and respectful and helpful staff small room without window (number 202)
- Yaaazoooni (10/5): Very pleasant stay - Very help full staff nice area with all close facilities.
- Guy (8/5): Very good, and would stay there again, but in a bigger room. - Clean, comfortable room. Excellent staff, and a great, quiet location. Not touristy, but close enough to Chinatown. A/C in room excellent. There is no lift, which is a pain if you have luggage. The room is 95% taken up by the bed. No space to unpack.
- Malca (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were amazing, the place was clean and comfortable, the location a walking distance from lot of attractions The water in the shower were kind of cold
- Alex (4/5): Disappointing -
- Sofia (9/5): Convenient - Convenient for just getting to sleep It is very close to the grand palace, which is a must see attraction although I didn’t feel like the area had many tourists.
- Dela (8/5): Clean & Accessible Hotel - Location and accessibility to place of interest The staff asked me twice about our passports. It was photo copied upon arrival and asked me again to be photo copied the following day
- Thanawadee (9/5): Value for money - Good location, near the market. Share bathroom, no elevator
- Wing (4/5): Disappointing -
- Uday (8/5): Very good -
- Rachael (7/5): Good - The location is great because it's near enough to some wonderful sites and night life to walk but far enough to be quiet. Situated on a canal with street food on your doorstep. Clean and organized with breakfast provided in a D.I.Y setting as it is a Hostel. The receptionist was a joy so helpful about what to do etc. Nice coffee available from cafe downstairs. We booked the Deluxe Family Suite thinking we would have some space but there really isn't any. Rooms are very small and there is no area for you all to sit together as sofa is a bed which is in front of the front door so not ideal. No room service not even to take away rubbish which with 5 people over 3 nights would have been good.
- Ken_kwok (7/5): Good - Affordable price. Decoration of the place is friendly. Clean. Acceptable as a hostel. No elevator. No AC in public area. Shared toilet, and no hand wash sink in the toilet. Single gender shower room on each floor. The room is pretty small from my perspective.
- Ioana (9/5): Lovely - The lovely staff at the front desk. They went above and beyond to give us a memorable stay. they even helped us with renting an outfit for a photoshoot at the temple next by. Pan is the best, sweet and funny. She really made us feel welcome. The rooms were on the smaller size for 2 people with big luggage, but we managed to make it work. It allowed us to not stay stuck in our room for too long, but instead go out and explore Bangkok. :)
- Diego (1/5): Bad -
- Rachel (8/5): Very good -
- Hugo (10/5): Excellent place to stay - Excellent place in all regards. The staff was nice, the place secure with locked doors and the location excellent. I did not try any other hotel in Bangkok but it will be hard to beat this one.
Also, you don't only have access to the museum and the historical center, there are also plenty of cosy cafés around.
- Teresa (8/5): - Solid option for a quick Bangkok trip - 7.5/10
First thing to note that this property does not have an elevator so if you're on the top floor, it's really inconvenient to drag your luggage up and down. Also there's no shoes allowed in the guest areas so it was a bit frustrating having to take your shoes off and lock them away when the stairs/floor had dirt on them and you were just stepping in it. It'd be useful to have some communal slippers there to prevent feet from getting dirty up the stairs.
Overall, it was a pretty good stay. The location and price were great and the day staff were very kind, sweet, and friendly! The beds were comfortable and soft, room was clean but they didn't take out the trash. Rooms were a good size but the shower/sink/toilet area is a bit cramped (the sink is in the shower stall) and the floor will be soaked after a shower, despite draining quickly. The rooms were quiet but we could hear someone coughing or vomiting the next room over at 5am, it was exceptionally loud, we didnt hear much else noise wise.
- Handsoflight (7/5): Comfy Bed vs The Sleepy Guy - The location was good. The bed was really really comfortable and had a wall plug on the side. There were 3 toilets and 2 bathrooms in our floor, so we never waited for somebody else. There is a coffee shop at the entrance. Wifi and water heater were all working properly. The whole building was very quite. The staff... During our check-in, The security card given by the staff didnt work and the staff was working really slow and sleepy. We started to wait for his slow movements again while he's trying to make the card work again.
The next day, our security card started not to work again and We waited for the sleepy guy again.
During our check-out, the sleepy guy was sleeping at the reception at last and we woke him up by poking.
- Kate (9/5): Easy access to the flower market - Excellent location to walk to the flower market, Emerald and Reclining Buddha and also Wat Po for their famous massages. There's a noodle guy in along the canal literally right outside the door 6 days per week. Close to the modern AC buses if you want to get around. It's also opposite the Ministry of Interior complex which is stunning. A 30m walk to China Town so plenty of time to walk off your dinner.
The brand new security guarded Seal Laundry is a few blocks away and worth the walk.
The staff were lovely, helpful and very friendly.
Love the fact there is a locker at the bottom of the stairs to put your day shoes in and swap out to slippers for the hotel internal areas.
Get yourself a couple of small jasmine garlands from the flower market and leave in your room to be greeted with on your return. It's delightful.
I will stay here again. I had asked for a room with minimum noise but the one I got was very loud with traffic and so much honking. I had to wear my LOOPs to get any actual sleep. Room 305.
Had thought I'd booked a room with ensuite but apparently not. The loos and showers were clean and easily accessible.
Would be good to have a few more hooks/rail on walls for a wet bathroom towel to dry and just hanging clothes as there wasn't much room to move about.
- Minta (9/5): Superb - Friendly Staffs No Lift
- Grace (8/5): Good! At the end of the day, I always looked forward to going back to my room at Yakthai - The room was great! I had my own space that I didn't mind the shared bathroom and everything. My own bed was all that mattered. The staff are amazing! Super friendly and always accommodating to our needs. Bonus! They share a lot of their own treats and food with the guests to try when they don't have to. I think that is just so sweet of them. I like no shoes in the facility but if that's the case, the floors could be a little cleaner. My feet were dirty everytime I stepped out to the bathroom or washroom. Maybe also get some screens for the windows? Other than that, it was as clean as it could be considering all other guests on the same floor use the same bathroom and shower.
- Patrice (10/5): A perfect and safe place for a solo traveler. - What's not to like? From the moment that I arrived, everyone was kind and helpful. Actually, that started even before my arrival as they responded to a special request of mine to stay on the 2nd floor. The staff members here are seriously the best; be it the day staff, the evening staff, management, or the housekeeper... they are all a pleasure to be around. Even though I'm a solo traveler, I feel very comfortable going down to the cafe area to do homework and chat. The drinks that they make are also really tasty (I highly recommend the Lychee Italian Soda... yum!) I feel like I've been spoiled by the staff here, too, as they always give me something tasty to try. As for the room: HEAVEN!!! I had what has to be the most comfortable bed in my past 3 months of traveling. I feel like I am on a cloud. The room size is small but not so small that I can't move around. My luggage rolls easily under the table against the wall. If you stay here long, housekeeping is done every 3 days, but if you need anything the staff is quick to help. If you are sensitive to sounds, I suggest bringing earplugs (depending on the location of your room) since there are food vendors next to the poshtel. I don't feel like it's a bother since I enjoy the sounds of Thailand. My room did not have its own bathroom, but there were 3 toilets and 2 shower stalls on my floor that were always clean. There isn't a laundry facility here for guests but there are several options within minutes. The proximity to various temples and tourist sites is great. Also, if you need something last minute or get sick, there is a 7-Eleven and a pharmacy within 5 minutes of here. I enjoyed my stay here so much that I ended up staying an extra 6 days instead of going to a hostel I had previously booked. For a person who likes privacy when it's time to sleep, this has been prime. I will recommend this place to anyone I know and will definitely return again. :)
- Seok (9/5): Overall there was a good stay. I had the dinner just outside the hotel facing river it was good. - Didn’t try the breakfast there.
Location is good to goto the temple just across the road and within 10 minutes walking to The Old Siam Plaza. Just inconvenience with the shared toilet. Because the night I stayed there was a male guest just stayed opposite my room. While early morning encountered with him in the toilet that felt a bit awkward.
- Thapar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hannah (8/5): - Property is bright and clean in common areas, however the shared bathrooms could use a deep cleaning. Lots of hair and buildup in corners. Two showers and three toilets are shared amongst six rooms, which made it a bit difficult to coordinate. Overall the rooms were clean and bright, although they essentially only fit a bed and a small desk, so if you have more than a carryon you won’t be able to fit your things. I pack light so this was no problem for me! If you get a room by the street you will hear lots of traffic noise, so be aware of this. AC in the room was great and the window shades were a big help when you want to sleep in.
Staff was very friendly and helpful, and the place is very walkable to many temples, cash machine, restaurants, and food stalls. Overall a nice stay.
- Supat (9/5): Staff good support 👍🏻 -
- Hiang Swee (10/5): - So far so good
- Nikhilesh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good - close to everything, chic and accommodating a little small, but great value
- John (8/5): Great location, decent price but small rooms. - I liked the location. There is a beautiful canal right by the hotel and a gorgeous temple right across the street. Lots of things to see and do that are relatively close. Room was small, and shower/bathroom were shared. But other than that I don't have any complaints.
- Harumi (10/5): clean and comfortable accommodation - friendly staffs!
- Mayuko (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janjane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mahmoud (7/5): Valuable - Ladies who are responsible for the place was very friendly. Bed and pillows are super comfy. The room was small and you have to share bathroom with all guests.
- Luísa (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and very friendly staff. The room has a very comfortable bed. My room had no windows, which made it look even smaller than it was. When booking with them, make sure to check if your room has windows or not.
- Anne (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - staff very friendly and always willing to help us and giving recommendations about the city attractions here in bangkok! everything good and clean
- Pete (10/5): Perfect stay with - great location.Bed is very comfortable. I slept like a baby. Staff is the most helpful i've ever met.It worth every penny (or THB in this case) I slept like a baby. Fantastic design with modern thai's style place and warm atmosphere. Staffs told me about the stories of the place and the area. I had a great time and want to come back again next time.^_^
- Donporn (10/5): Exceptional experience - Great stay. Perfect location and near many attractions. The place is clean and staffs were very friendly. The beddings are the best - better than in many expensive hotels.
What I like most is the balcony in the evening where i can see the view of the canal and the temple and the sunset.
Will definitely come back again!!
- Thanuncha (10/5): A pleasant stay, nice experience - Everything! The location is awesome, close to a lot of attractions. Lot of nice restaurants, cafe and bar are just walking distance. The room is small but comfortable enough, the bed is so soft and comfy. Staffs are friendly and helpful. The overall place is very clean and safe. The shared bathroom even have a rain shower! Plus point for the coffee shop downstairs, the iced cocoa is amazing. Definitely come back again next time!! Nothing
- Chris (3/5): disappointing and deceiving - the location was good and the staff were friendly we stayed in the family room, if you have a family I strongly recommend you avoid this hotel. The daytime staff were very friendly however from check in to check out it disappointed.
The photos are a true work of art, this is the smallest place we have stayed so far on a 5 month trip. the room had no kettle as promised and wouldn’t have mattered as there was no possible place to drink it and no cutlery.
the sofa bed couldn’t fit our 6 year old so he stayed in our bed.
From the 1000baht key bond to the half hour we waited on check out to see if we damaged the place to get it back, the security cameras everywhere we felt we were being watch, judged and had an uncomfortable experience.
we had no towells provided and when asked were told they could only find 2 for the whole family.
This isn’t cheap by Bangkok standard and there are many better options.
they had prices advertised on reception and the check in paperwork that were cheaper than booking.com
- Anastasia (8/5): clean place with a perfect location - really clean and bright! staff is friendly and helpful. location is perfect! first we got a room with no windows, even though i specifically booked a room with “river view”. after talking to the staff, they managed to give us a room with a window, but asked us to make a special request next time. which I thought was a bit strange since I booked a room with a window, why would I specify?
- Anastasija (9/5): it was nice, thanks - ideal staff, good location -
- Tomas (4/5): Disappointing - nice place, very easy to find it, realy clean and quite new accommodation. Nice caffe downstairs. We chose a room with two separate beds. photos are a lie. Reality is the smallest room without a window. Something like a small prison. The night staff could not solve it, but in the morning they changed us to a room with separate beds, but also without a window.
a big disappointment for me. I found another accommodation the next day.
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- Don (5/5): Passable -
- Albertini (8/5): Very good -
- Nicholas (9/5): super comfortable with fabulous staff - the bed was super super comfortable it would have been nice to know there was a key deposit required had to duck out to atm to have cash for the key deposit. Knowing before hand would have been great!
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent staff and wonderful location and accommodation. I would recommend to everyone
- Kim (6/5): Pleasant -
- John (10/5): A superb, value for money, option in the heart of Bangkok - The hostel was in a great location for Grand Palace, Wat Po (Reclining Buddha), Wat Ratchabophit Sathitmahasimaram Ratchaworawihan and the Khaosan Road.
The whole hostel was exceptionally clean and the staff were very friendly and incredibly helpful.
Our family room, on the top floor (we could see the roof of the grand palace), consisted of two bedrooms (each with a small, but exceptionally comfortable double bed), a small seating area (with TV and fridge) and a small but private bathroom.
This is a great hostel and great value for money. There was very little to dislike about the Yakthai, but I would recommend that might like to make the roof terrace, which was directly outside of our bedroom windows, off limits between the hours of 22:00 and 09:00.
- Aysegul (7/5): its good - the beds were very comfortable, they are very nice people trying to help you🙏🏻 close to the temples, they dont accept cash so we ended up the whole stay cash
- Belinda (7/5): Good -
- Sirikamon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zoran (9/5): Superb - Great location and helpful staff. Good value for money
