Guest Reviews
- Payton (4/5): - When we arrived we were happy with the property, it was clean and very nice. A very intimate hotel as there are only 7 rooms. Our first night stay was lovely, the staff helped us check in and showed us everything about the hotel. Our second night after a day of touring we came back hoping to enjoy the restaurant on property but it was closed for an event something we were not informed would be happening. Entering back to our room it felt like we were intruding the event and later in the evening as we were falling asleep we were kept awake by very loud music from the event below us. It physically shook our bed and other furniture in our room. Again we were never informed that an event would be happening and that it would affect our stay at the WesterVilla hotel. We had to get up very early the next morning to go to the airport so this was very disappointing the lack of communication from the staff.
- Tammy (10/5): - What a lovely boutique hotel! Rob and staff were incredible—friendly, service-oriented, helpful and fun! Our rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. But the food at Nando’s was spectacular. We had dinner there 2 evenings and received the best service I’ve ever experienced. A must have is the pasta prepared in a cheese bowl…and add the truffle…it’s heaven.
- Roger (10/5): A private beautiful fairy tale hotel - Westerville;
If you’re looking for a warm, friendly, beautiful and relaxing place just outside Amsterdam . This is your place . An 1890’s rebuilt property that has 7 cozy rooms. Nestled among streams and trees with a beautiful park across the street with miles of walking, running and biking trails.
Mario. The manager is as amazing a manager as I’ve ever met. We instantly became part of the family! If you think only downtown has great food. Let me say that we’ve NEVER had better food! We are on a 60 day trip and this stay was just what we needed. We ate dinner here 4 nights in a row!😂 Everything is good! All the employees are amazing. The grounds are relaxing cafe’s are 3 blocks away and grocery store is 2 blocks . But this is for people who love quiet, beautiful, safe and enchanting settings. If you need a front desk to talk to 7/24 or lots of frills, pay triple get little sleep and find another place.
But for me. To be recharged. To go to Anne Frank and the Holland windmills by taking a bus right out front for 3 euros. And come back to paradise and my family/ the staff at Westerville. It’s all we needed.
- Melissa (10/5): - Wij waren voor een wedding
Was prima hotel
- Erica (10/5): - Staff were extremely helpful with directions, suggested itineraries and locations to visit.
- Brendon (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke very good English. The room was very comfortable and quiet and having an Italian restaurant in the same building was also very nice. We found the location was good with relatively short Uber rides to the attractions in the city and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Amsterdam which also had a laid back atmosphere compared to other cities in Europe.
- Ryan (10/5): Lovely little place - Lovely little hotel only 7 rooms but nice and well kept, once you’ve checked in you’re pretty much left to your own devices which was perfect for us! Steep stairs to get to the rooms so wouldn’t be any good for people with mobility issues, lovely food and staff in restaurant downstairs. Amsterdam centre about 15 minutes by cab or about 40 minutes by bus
- Alex (10/5): - Everyone was very nice and helpful. Room a little small but very clean.
- Paris (10/5): - Beautiful boutique hotel. Lovely staff. Spacious rooms.
- Demi-leigh (10/5): - Lovely place to stay close to the centre and airport , friendly staff.
- Luke (10/5): - Lovely
- Debra (10/5): - We enjoyed are stay and appreciated that this hotel was outside the busy city limits. There was a bus stop right outside the hotel that was very convenient for getting into the city center. The staff person who checked us in was very helpful, helping us with our luggage up the stairs. Would recommend this hotel for anyone who wants a quiet place to rest after a hectic day in the city.
- Vicki (10/5): - This is a beautiful hotel in a incredible over 100-year-old building that used to be the cemetery caretaker's house. It is right next to a cemetery with birds and flowers and hundreds of marble headstones of all different colors. So peaceful walking in there. There is a romantic restaurant attached to the restaurant with the best food and friendliest staff. There is no elevator but rather a long flight of wooden stairs to get to the rooms but we managed to do it every day and got some exercise. We had a lovely balcony with a view of many bicycles riding by. There is also a huge park across the street. The hotel is close to the city and you can easily Uber there or there's a bus stop practically right out front. The only con is the tiny trashcan they give you, just one in the room lol. But no big deal. We enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it!
- Sabrina (10/5): - We had the loft room which was nice and spacious however the bathroom situation is a bit odd - would have preferred the glass on the shower door to have been frosted. The end of the room could have made a beautiful en-suite with a tub, which really would have made the room feel really special, but it’s all open plan and the space feels a bit wasted. Aside from that, location is just outside central Amsterdam but the bus can be caught from just outside and we never had to wait long.
- Susan (6/5): Nice but a little too far out of town - Although this hotel was nice enough it was too far out of central Amsterdam for us. We spent a very long time on trams & buses sometimes having to swap from one to another every time we wanted to go back to the centre. The room was small compared to how it’s portrayed in the pictures. Bathroom was nice.
- Jennifer (6/5): Nice but with some heads up - The hotel is essentially an inn above a very nice Italian restaurant. There is no separate hotel staff or lobby, and the staff are available during restaurant hours 11:30am-10pm. In general the facilities and stay were nice, but there are a few things to note that would have been helpful to know in advance, so sharing here:
1) as mentioned, there is no separate hotel reception so there is no one on-site to assist guests after 10pm and before 11:30am. This also meant we couldn’t adjust the heat in our room during those times, as that is centrally controlled
2) there are very steep stairs to get up to the rooms so wouldn’t be great for people who have a hard time with stairs
3) the hotel is located on the outskirts of Amsterdam, the walk into town took about 35 min and the closest public transportation stop is about a 20 min walk
4) there is only 1 bottle of soap for showering. No conditioner or shampoo
5) our room (Dinsdag) was tiny. I didn’t realize how small it would be. See the photo for how much space was left next to the bed after I put my suitcase down ( there was nowhere else to put it). We made it work but it was tight
6) also specific to our room, the bathroom mirror was next to the sink, not on top of it, so it made it tough for my partner to shave. There also wasn’t a light close to the mirror so that was hard too
- r (10/5): Beautifully appointed Boutique Hotel! - This lovely, small hotel had all the amenities for a Global traveler could desire. The brooms were more spacious than generally found in European hotels, the large bathroom was modern and large. We found all of the individuals working there quite confident, nice, and helpful. There’s even a very nice attached restaurant to the hotel. You can take a bus to city center or a 25-minute walk to the city center! Great place and more of a traveler than tourist experience.
- Luningning (10/5): - Safe and quiet
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointing but has potential - I was recommended this by a friend who had stayed here previously and was disappointed.
The restaurant, now rebranded, was hosting loud Christmas parties, which we weren’t warned about. On Friday night, music blared until 1 a.m., and staff dismissed our complaints with earplugs and “email the manager.” Saturday was no better, despite promises that noise would end by 11 p.m. Staff noise and disruptions continued late into the night, and again, no resolution was offered.
Finally, on Sunday, we spoke with the manager, Mario, who apologized and offered a free meal and one-night refund. While we appreciated his efforts, we felt two nights should have been refunded given the sleepless nights. The owner, however, refused.
The staff (except Mario) and management showed little regard for guests’ comfort.
- Stewart (2/5): Sadly a ruined weekend in Amsterdam - Having previously stayed at Westervilla in Dec '23 where we had an amazing time, we returned in Dec '24 along with 2 of our friends, with high expectations.
Sadly, our expectations were dashed soon after arriving.
The feedback box here does not give me enough space to detail all of our poor experience, so I shall bullet point below.
- Night one, check in, full on Christmas part happening directly below our rooms, no warning prior to check in, loud music till 1am.
-When we complained we were to just 'to email'
-Night 2, although no full parties, thumping music well past the promised finish time, and no concern at all from the staff, when the music stopped, we still had an hour of banging furniture and shouting staff directly below us, even after we had raised our issues regardung noise.
- After our group email the manager 5 times over the course of the two nights, on day three we finally got a call.
- We met Mario the manager at the hotel to discuss concerns.
I would like to credit him with trying to diffuse and resolve the situation, but sadly Christian the owner refused our request for a refund on the two nights of sleep we had lost.
- We had to make do with one night refunded, and free meal (which in all honestly doesn't cost much to the business).
It's such a shame to have such a bad experience for our group, after a great experience before.
We will NOT return. I would advise you avoid if you want to have staff that actually care about the hotel customers.
- Christina (10/5): - Great staff, the restaurant and hotel was great! Loved that we were able to park for free and take the bus/tram every!
- Stephen (10/5): - Our "Wednesday" room was spacious, well-appointed, super-clean, and quiet. The batroom was roomy and possessed seemingly new fixture, although past experience tells us that is the norm for this boutique hotel. Boutique Hotel WesterVilla also hosts a wonderful Italian restaurant---Nando--- that serves wonderfully interpreted and delicious cuisine. A perfect respite "in" Amsterdam, but feeling relaxed . The City is only minutes away. Wonderful!
- Sabrina (10/5): - .
- Ingrid (10/5): - Hotel ligt in mooi parkje, attent (Nederlands sprekend) personeel, fijne bar / restaurant met lekkere hapjes. Mooie kamer. Relaxte sfeer.
- Alma (2/5): PELIGRO - HORRIBLE EXPERIENCIA.
No existe recepción.
- Annette Motrøen (10/5): - Lovely, small and quiet hotel. Close to the bus stop, but we chose to walk to the center. A nice walk. Great restaurant, liked the atmosphere and the food. No breakfast, but we knew that and got nice food at Albert Hein (food store) nearby. Friendly and helpful staff:)
- Craig (10/5): - Really nice rooms with friendly, helpful team. In the westerpark area of Amsterdam so dinner nearby was cheaper than central. Restaurant at the hotel was very good we ate one night but not to our personal preferences
- Victor (8/5): - Beautiful place and hotel, cool rooms, friendly staff, easy to get to the bus to city centre, some great food nearby too. You can sleep seeing the stars on the top room.
Downside: A bit too expensive for what it is. The pillows are bad. The top room smelled a bit from the restaurant kitchen.
- Robert (10/5): - This is a small boutique hotel, only 7 rooms, all named after the days of the week . The rooms are above and behind the Nando Italian Bistro-an excellent restaurant. There were a set of twenty then 5 more steps up to the rooms, and at first (being an senior couple) thought this a bit daunting, but the staff happily carried up the luggage. The room was very clean, and very modern. The area was very quiet, even with he restaurant patrons coming and going, well insulated windows. The staff was excellent, very obliging, and helped with the bus schedule and directions. We were expremely happy with the hotel, and the restaurant. The hotel in not down in the old town, but after being down there two days, were glad to come back to this hotel in the afternoon.
- Adriane (10/5): - Great view and small place. Charming
- Annemarie (10/5): - Makkelijke toegang snelweg, goede parkeergelegenheid. Leuk terras.
- Nawa (10/5): - Very clean, very friendly staff, safe residential area. As this is a small hotel, they don't have an elevator so ask for help if you need assistance with your luggage as stairs were steep!
- Jennifer (8/5): - Breakfast not available
- Larry (10/5): - Staff was very helpful. Rooms were clean and dinner at the bistro was fabulous.
- Zoubir (10/5): - Great stay
- Ana (10/5): - 5 stara
- Camilla (10/5): Fantastisk ophold - Fantastisk sted.
- Michael (10/5): - This hotel is located right at a bus line stop, takes you into the center of Amsterdam in minutes. Easy access from Amsterdam Centraal. Hotel is boutique, with only a few rooms. Staff are super friendly and there is a restaurant and bar on site. The only downside is there is no breakfast service at the restaurant, but there’s plenty to eat a short bus ride away. Location is in a quiet part of town, just far enough from the tourist madness which invades some parts of the city.
- Stephen (10/5): - Aside from the beautiful, spacious room ("Sontag"), the reception and entire hotel staff were fantastic! The ob-site restaurant (Nandos) had exception Italian cuisine, and the beer and beverage selection was more than adequate. Thank you, Mario, and your entire staff!
- Peter (8/5): - Trevligt ställe ganska centralt i Amsterdam.
- Darren (6/5): - Did not like nowhere to get breakfast, did not like the two small cushions they called pillows, a pillow costs next to nothing and the flat cushion we had was terrible, had to use my clothes, one bag for two day stay, expensive for what you get, waited three hours for room, not particularly there fault but did ask for check in and waited three hours.
- Sandra (10/5): Sfeervol - Top locatie, rustig voor Amsterdamse begrippen
- Matthew (10/5): - Great spot to stay. Nice, up to date rooms. Enjoyed my stay
- john (10/5): - Enjoyable villa and location by the park.
- Allen (10/5): - His hotel only has 7 rooms, each named after day of the week. Our room was exceptionally large even by U.S. standards. It is a little over a mile to the Ann Frank house, but one gets to walk past cafes, coffee shops and bakeries along the way.
My only caveat is the long, steep stairway to the rooms. There is no elevator. Minor issue, really.
- Margaryta (10/5): - Nice stay! Very relaxing
- Fred (10/5): - Very nice and helpful people. Great rooms and comfortable beds
- Nick (10/5): - Ideal location close to centre but nice and quiet- easy bus in from stop a few yards from hotel
- Antonio (10/5): - Our stay at this very small hotel was extremely pleasant..entire staff from arrival to departure was totally professional and very warm..we felt very luvky to have stayed at hotel Boutique in Amsterdam. Thank you for a very enjoyable and pleasant paet of our trip to Europe.
- Judith (8/5): - While the room was very nice, the hotel did not have an elevator so there were lots of stairs. The staff was lovely and brought our bags up to our room and down when we checked out. The restaurant was excellent though they didn’t open until 11:30
- Will (10/5): - Everything was great from the room, to the staff to the location!
Room was spacious, clean and well presented. Modern decor and clear thought had gone into this room (I think we stayed in the Wednesday room?).
Staff were more than helpful and very friendly on check in.
Location is ideal as there is a bus stop right outside so you can get the 15 minute bus to central Amsterdam - 48 hour travel pass was only €15 for unlimited travel with buses running every 5 minutes. This hotel was ideal for us as it was the only hotel offering free parking.
Something worth noting is check in closes at 9:30/10pm before you get carried away seeing the sights of Amsterdam.
- Shawn (10/5): - We arrived on the wrong day and the staff was very kind and helpful!
- Ruth (10/5): Lovely spacious room - be prepared to get a bus - Lovely room - spacious and clean with a super comfy bed. Hadn’t quite realised it was so far out of town but really easy to get the bus directly outside. Only downside was nowhere to get breakfast nearby - the website says you can order a breakfast delivery from a local bakery but one of the tag had heard of this and said it wasn’t possible.
- Gary (10/5): Thoroughly recommend this hotel - What a lovely hotel... the rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. Car parking is onsite and plentiful. The highlight for me though was the bar and restaurant... lovely ambience, excellent food and drinks and great service. I will be back asap!
- Casper (10/5): Great stay - Lovely and clean room, everything we needed.
- Stewart (10/5): 5 Star Stay! - Highly Recommended - We had a wonderful stay at WesterVilla. We stayed in the suite, and it was absolutely stunning.
Our room was spotlessly clean, and very modern.
We also ate in the restaurant, where the service was great and the food just amazing.
We can't wait to come back again
- Kevin (8/5): - Nice friendly staff, older style building but comfortable and clean.
- Nigel (10/5): Great hotel, great staff - Great hotel with just 7 bedrooms, in a nice area opposite a large park, but some distance out of town. Clean, warm and cosy with a comfortable bed and good bathroom. Nice restaurant offering good food but no breakfast available. However, great cafes just a short walk on way in to central Amsterdam. Best feature of the hotel was the superb staff. Kimberley was excellent. Incredibly friendly, funny and warm hearted and a great source of advice on the local area. Kristian was also very welcoming and extremely helpful. They made our stay thoroughly enjoyable.
- Robert (10/5): - We booked the larger room (called Wednesday) it was more than spacious enough for our four night stay. The staff are excellent the restaurant very good and reasonably priced. The park across the road from the hotel has a few bars and restaurants and a very good bakery for breakfast. There are tram and bus pickups within a short walk, we would definitely stay again.
- Alissia (8/5): - Its a really cute hotel and super nice personal.
- Mark (10/5): - Best hotel that I ever stayed in. I highly recommend it. The staff were wonderful, the room was exquisite, and the area around the hotel is one of the hidden gems of Amsterdam.
