- Jonas (6/5): - This place cares more about how the room and facility looks than any real quality. Cold and sterile environment intent on being classy, fails miserably as electrical cables hang damaged and mold lines the corners by the floors. The night receptionist was very uninterested and did the absolute minimum. The guy helping with parking and showing us the room was very friendly and informative however. The "studio room" featured a rock hard sofa in front of a TV that was not even plugged in when I came to the room. The bed, equally rock hard, was the only thing good about the room. Taking a shower in the bathtub (there was no shower booth) had me almost tripping as the tub was curved and not meant to be used standing up. All rooms had very open views to corridors and the ground level streets, having me spending my entire stay with all blinds closed and curtains pulled out. The entire place was very noisy, as the walls were completely bare. I could hear all neighbouring room activities, from talking to walking to ...other. Some rugs and wall decorations to soften the sound seem like a minimum for a place taking this kind of money.

- bugzbuks (4/5): Cockroaches - Rooms are spacious but the restaurant is infested with bugs. Saw cockroaches on the bread, on the tables and in the kitchen. Also picked up the milk and it was curdled and gross. I would avoid the food during your stay Also very noisy. The rooms do need some sound proofing as the street noises made sleeping hard. Multiple drag races during the night. Plus a few drunk screaming people walking past. Not a good night sleep
- delanoalexander (2/5): Becareful if you call the restaurant manager Mr Sausage Man, he will kick you out. - Do you have a minute to hear about the horror experience that is the Jack Rose Hotel and Rosebud restaurant? Cockroaches. Filthy restaurants and a cowardly restaurant manager. Someone call Gordan Ramsey because the Jack Rose Hotel and Rosebud restaurant is a nightmare!

- tebohomanamela96 (4/5): Beautiful outside - This place is so beautiful outside but as soon as I was inside the room and greeted by cochroaches I regretted taking it. I didn't even sleep inside the sheets as I was not comfortable. The fact that there's no backup electricity made it even more unpleasant. The security and the receptionists are excellent though enjoyed their pleasantness

- Thomas (8/5): - This would have been a perfect place to stay in Jo-burg, except my a/c didn't work, even just the blower. All I needed is was circulating air, so I had to leave the window open on a weekend, when every knucklehead with a low-resistance muffler on a 1.5L engine had to impress us with his mediocrity. (Noisy engines if you're not into the performance stuff.) Didn't sleep well until after 0300.

The room also has a big smart TV though its not subscribed to any service providers. My room had no soap or lotion, I had to go and request at the reception, the bathtub was also dirty/stained, need to be cleaned. The breakfast buffet was good and filling,.

- malinda195 (2/5): I am not coming back to your establishment. - When there is load shedding it goes dark because they do not have a generator or the lamps that can be used when there is no electricity. The doors don’t lock properly, which makes a person in the room feel unsafe. They have roaches in the kitchen. The food is not good. I had to order food via Mr D, though i had paid for the food. The towels are yellow not even off white. They are hard and scratchy. I had asked my company not to book this establishment in future.

There’s so much noise in the morning from the road with trucks cars taxis hooting. There was no backup for loadshedding which is a bit of a bummer. Besides that the rooms are clean and very big.

- zmbole415137 (10/5): Well spent night - The welcoming at the reception was out of this world, the room was spacious , neat, as much as breakfast was served , there were options in the room in case someone decides to cook , utensil were fully provided , yes the whole kitchen, the linen was clean.

Parking area must be clearly marked to avoid confusion since location is on a busy road. General cleanliness can also be improved to improve your guests comfort levels.
- Exploration787157 (2/5): Absolutely appalling! - My husband and I decided to treat ourselves to a romantic night away from our home. The pictures of The jack Rose are incredibly deceptive and make it look like a cute boutique hotel. It was anything but! My first impression of the hotel was a dirty floor as we came up from the garage to reception. The lift from the parking to reception was out or order. We were checked into a room on the noisy ground floor and right by our door were two half full dustbin bags. The room itself was sparse and lacked any warmth. The couch that faced the TV was as hard as a rock and so was the mattress and pillows. We decided to go to a movie as we couldnt wait to get out quite frankly. We returned at about 8.30pm. At 10pm loadshedding hit and we were left sitting in complete darkness. No light was availalbe in the room and my husband had to go to the front desk to ask for a lamp. He was told that the generator only lights up reception and the rooms remain dark. At that point we had had quite enough and we decided to leave. We asked for a refund at reception as we were not staying the night and we were quite rudely told that she couldn't help us. After much probing she reluctantly gave my husband an email address. I would very much like a refund after such an unpleasant experience and taking into account that we did not stay the night or take advantage of the breakfast for which I had paid. I hope that the proprietors of The Jack Rose will do the right thing.

They definitely need to upgrade bathroom, blinds and all cupboards. There was no handle on the cupboard door,blinds were skew..breakfast was cold and they did refill on certain dishes.
- benwee2003 (8/5): Good value, great location - Large rooms with cooking facilities, built like an apartment block. Located in a upmarket areas near a large mall. Friendly staff. Only other comment I’d that toiletries were not provided, or would be good to have shampoo and shower gel.
- johncZ7377KY (4/5): Nightmare on Tyrwhitt Street. - Hotel was clean but the power outages were disrupting. Hotel management did not inform about periodic power outages and did not seem to care that we spent time in the dark at night. Outages lasted for hours day or night. Also bed was made missing a sheet for which management could (or would) not provide an extra sheet. Seemed a bit mistrusting. No generator was used during power outages.
- Fearless66385432137 (6/5): ONE STAR HOTEL.. - The rooms are half cleaned, they mop but don't dust, upon check in, they then do house cleaning at 4pm and guests are supposed to do their dishes.. The breakfast is the worst, there is barely anything in the trays, and one is supposed to pick two pieces of beacon, the waiters actually reminded us twice to pick two pieces en I found that so humiliating, the juice ain't freshly made, but the waiter was very friendly and helpful with warming milk and toast, when electricity goes, so does the water, over all, it should be your 3rd or 4th option to stay, not a place a would recommend..

- Csaba (10/5): Good place - It was only a one night stay, in transit to Krüger NP. Everything was alright. The wifi was much better in the public area than in the room though. Rosebank Mall is within walking distance so you can do your shopping easily if needed. They have their own parking as well.
- Noxolo (10/5): Pleasant Weekend Stay At The Jack Rose - The staff was friendly and helpful. The establishment is clean and it is also secure. Room aircon works; which was a necessity with the freezing Johannesburg weather! Housekeeping came the following morning; that was quite nice. We ordered breakfast ; both options available on the menu at he time of stay- the food was delicious and the portion more than reasonable. The TV in my room did have a problem; it was stuck buffering when loading a show. But it streamed YouTube just fine. The issue was the TV itself; the wifi was stable and I was able to watch from my devices. Overall; a very good experience. I would go back!

- Verified traveler (6/5): Clean, convenient but sterile and WiFi a problem - Spotlessly clean with large living room, bedroom and kitchenette and a small bathroom with shelving for toiletries. Conveniently close to Rosebank Mall and the Gautrain. Huge cupboards. Good quality and very clean linen. Very friendly staff. Breakfast is included and was delivered to the room promptly at the requested time. The overall price for the facility was very low. However, there is no decoration in the rooms, no pictures, no rugs, nothing that would make the room feel comfortable. Unfortunately, that meant I felt like I was in a sterilized hospital room. The TV is linked to the internet so you can access your own DSTV account, Netflix etc. but since connectivity was not stable every few minutes my Netflix show would give me the dreaded unable to connect message and I would have to wait a few minutes to reconnect. My skype calls kept dropping. I eventually gave up watching TV and bought a portable wifi device to listen to music and do my skype calls for business. This facility would be perfect for families that need space and don't want to worry about the little ones breaking things. For a business person who only wants a room to sleep it would also be fine. For those who want to relax after a hard day or who depend on stable internet for transacting business its not ideal at least not until the internet connections is stabilized.
